[0:01]ald now last lesson we were speaking about the the Deeds that
[0:51]person should perform when uh a particular believer is passing away in
[0:57]front of them and before we got into that we mentioned a
[1:01]by IM Al that held in admonishment the tradition basically was uh
[1:06]a dialogue between IM Alam and the person who already had passed
[1:10]away the Imam went to a graveyard or passed by a graveyard
[1:16]or multiple graveyards and then he addressed the dead and Subhan Allah
[1:20]with Allah's permission one of the people responded to the Imam obviously
[1:25]in a way that other people could hear normal people could hear
[1:30]and the the Imam uh obviously the IM had questions for that
[1:37]person the person answered and then the IM told the people did
[1:44]you hear the response get ready for that prepare your Provisions for
[1:49]the best provision is TA is piety fear of Allah subhana wa
[1:55]tala obviously when we say the IM had questions it doesn't mean
[1:57]that he did not know the answers to those questions a person
[2:04]or someone who asks a question might ask it although he already
[2:07]knows the answer but he asks it for a particular wisdom one
[2:12]of which is allowing the listeners to hear the answer keep that
[2:16]in mind because it's uh it's very important and it helps helps
[2:20]us understand the uh the words of Allah in the Quran asks
[2:28]m a question right what what is in your right hand oh
[2:32]Musa Allah T obviously knows that it was the stop but he
[2:40]was asking that question um as a preparation for the call of
[2:43]M which takes place after Allah tells him to throw the staff
[2:50]so that being said today inshallah we're going to carry on with
[2:57]the Deeds that a person should perform when someone else else is
[3:03]in meaning someone else is in that stage the last stage in
[3:08]and the first stage amongst the stages of the Hereafter in in
[3:16]the Hereafter and that is what we call also called also called
[3:20]all right so there are three words used in reference of that
[3:26]stage we mentioned that there's one deed that is waj it's mandatory
[3:31]B based on mandatory precaution to make the person who's in face
[3:37]the okay so you make him face the ca this is not
[3:44]only recommended no it's it's w based on man precaution according to
[3:50]say amongst the Deeds that are recommended are uh amongst these that
[3:57]are recommended is is is recommended to perform to the person who
[4:07]is about to pass away means what who can tell me what
[4:15]t means I think it's a way we should ask a question
[4:32]ask questions okay say you ask him to repeat or you ask
[4:38]him to say something that he knows already so you don't you
[4:44]don't ask him rather you tell him you tell him to utter
[4:47]the words of Faith so you tell him for example fan let's
[4:52]say his name is m m repeat after me say now if
[4:58]he answers you and he says that's beautiful if he doesn't you
[5:01]continue doing you continue doing say say m and you also tell
[5:13]him to utter the utter the the um uh the names of
[5:17]as he expresses his belief in them so for example you tell
[5:26]him say or so on so forth so it is must to
[5:44]tell him to utter to to express his faith in Allah tal
[5:47]and the holy prophet so you tell him to say the sh
[5:52]the two testimonies and it's also mustahab recommended to tell him to
[5:59]uh Express his belief all right to express his belief in one
[6:17]by one for example there are multiple things you could say if
[6:31]you want you can you can do in a short Manner and
[6:34]if you want you can make it a bit longer it all
[6:37]depends on how much details you want to mention but in itself
[6:41]is is recommended at that time it is also recommended in two
[6:51]other moments and those two are when the person is placed in
[6:56]their grave right before before bury them before the s or the
[7:00]dust or the the soil is placed on top of uh on
[7:06]top of the person meaning before you close the grave it's must
[7:12]to do and it's also must to do when uh when the
[7:18]the person has already been buried and the people have left okay
[7:23]his meaning the person who is his Guardian based on Islamic law
[7:30]at that specific Point his for him after his burial so those
[7:37]are those are three moments in which is must you had a
[7:41]question no yes the one that's done it's recommended to have their
[8:00]shoulder as you say that even though that they're not OB what
[8:07]I know is you move the shoulder you move the the person's
[8:12]shoulder yes symbolic you would do for live person to make them
[8:19]aware and you know yeah get get their focus get their attention
[8:22]I my friend get their yes yes is the two other also
[8:30]in the same way it's a recommend to do it in the
[8:35]same way when the person is alive and to die move your
[8:38]shoulder the third occasion well you can't do it on the third
[8:41]the third occasion you can't because he's already buried for the first
[8:44]occasion not that I know of unless we see a clear uh
[8:49]Hadith saying that you move him then you do it in that
[8:53]case if not I I haven't seen any Hadith saying that you
[8:56]do it when he's in that you move him in I haven't
[9:01]seen yeah okay yeah right so these are the three moments in
[9:09]which number one when the person is about to pass away number
[9:15]two after he passes away um when he's placed in the grave
[9:20]but the grave is not closed yet and number three after he's
[9:27]buried burial is done okay people have left now does for that
[9:35]person here a question comes to mind okay and that is what
[9:44]is the benefit ofal what is the benefit of tal before he
[9:49]dies and what's the benefit of tal after he dies what do
[9:55]you think or husin anyone I think in both situations one of
[10:05]the okay basically yeah just that's the okay so is saying it
[10:16]turns the person's attention to Allah and so it reminds a person
[10:19]that he's in need of God in need of the the infall
[10:24]with Allah's permission nice say so one thing I can think of
[10:30]is so as he's dying it's possible that any point during that
[10:37]time he can go through meaning would try to get him one
[10:45]last time so if you remind him you know that will hopefully
[10:51]help him in that scenario another scenario as we learned from the
[10:56]story is that when he's buried right come to question you you
[11:04]sort of help them out in a ways right your son your
[11:15]son when they ask her who's your IM so the benefit of
[11:22]when the person is about to die is well at least one
[11:29]benefit is the devil he or one of his uh helpers they
[11:39]come to mislead the human being right to lead him into what
[11:45]we call and we've talked about before in our previous classes so
[11:49]they come to to the the the human being or one of
[11:54]his friends one of his helpers he comes to the human being
[11:58]and tries to instill doubt in his heart regarding the truth possibly
[12:03]he'll try to instill doubt in our hearts regarding Allah doubts in
[12:09]Allah or doubts in the prophet or doubts in all right long
[12:16]story short he wants the person to disbelieve or to doubt in
[12:23]the truth before he leaves this world so when we do if
[12:30]the person actually changes and disbelieves before he dies it's called yeah
[12:35]if he was a Believer and he loses his faith before death
[12:40]it's called the word is taken from means that he basically changed
[12:44]changed the path or changed Roots yeah okay so uh one benefit
[12:56]behind theal which is done during is that you help that believer
[13:04]remain steadfast you help him remain faithful so you're basically counteracting what
[13:11]the Shan is doing shatan is trying to instill doubt you're doing
[13:16]the opposite you're telling him you can do it you're a say
[13:23]sayam say Etc now as a side note God knows what happens
[13:32]in the world of the Unseen right we know that does not
[13:39]like these words he doesn't like the word the word m the
[13:43]word perhaps when you're telling him to say these words you uttering
[13:50]these words in the presence of that individual who's about to die
[13:54]or him actually repeating these words pushes away the double maybe right
[13:58]we have a tradition saying that when hears someone calling or he
[14:08]melts like copper and that's one of the benefits of naming your
[14:13]son Muhammad or naming him Ali J the name provides an amount
[14:20]of protection for that individual it doesn't necessarily mean every Muhammad will
[14:24]go to heaven no you might have someone called Muhammad who's a
[14:28]criminal the name is good but the is bad you might have
[14:31]someone who called Ali who's who's Bad to the Bone he has
[14:36]nothing to do with so the name is good and the person
[14:38]is bad but the name gives protection to a certain extent to
[14:44]the human being when when the name is Muhammad or the name
[14:50]is Ali so that's one benefit behind during extend to the actual
[15:06]well what I can confirm at the moment is is what the
[15:12]narration confirmed the narration basically um says that he saw a boy
[15:19]he was going to visit a man who was sick and this
[15:23]man was from from the followers of the IM now he sees
[15:25]a boy on his way to the man and he asks him
[15:29]what what's your name and asked him what's your as far as
[15:34]I remember I could be wrong the name was was was uh
[15:37]Muhammad and the K was Abu Ali or it was the other
[15:41]way around I forgot the exact ntion but I remember the either
[15:45]had Ali or Muhammad in it and the name had Ali or
[15:48]Muhammad so here the IM told him that you've uh you've been
[15:53]shielded you have a strong Shield against the Shan because of because
[15:56]you have the name and the yeah so what I can say
[16:03]for sure it applies to these two names Muhammad and Ali makes
[16:06]sense meaning if someone has a that has one of those two
[16:13]names that also helps them yeah M here has a question a
[16:26]prayer for the dead when we're praying for the dead can we
[16:29]change the language M if you mean can we supplicate for someone
[16:37]who died in our own languages yes we can if that's what
[16:42]you mean we say passed away can I say may Allah bless
[16:47]him yes I can I can do Dua for the person who
[16:48]passed away in my own language that's that's fine but if you
[16:54]mean as far as I know is done in Arabic uh can
[17:00]you change the language in can't say yes at the moment but
[17:05]I have to double check as far as I know it's it's
[17:09]an Arabic but I have to double check I have a question
[17:19]yes sister can he notlim I heard uh uh I'll get back
[17:35]to you on that one inah okay no problem bye okay now
[17:54]the benefit of doing when someone has already passed away is what
[18:03]is to is to help him with it's to help him with
[18:09]and those are the two angels who come and ask him questions
[18:16]at the time of in fact the third we mentioned the of
[18:20]the after the person has been buried that based on a tradition
[18:30]by uh exempts the person from being questioned by so it helps
[18:36]the deceased in that way that he doesn't even encounter they don't
[18:42]come to him when you perform the third yes now we're talking
[18:52]about a Believer here a Believer yeah we're talking about a Believer
[18:58]the thir that's done after the person is buried by his W
[19:04]yeah okay Che is it for sure it will stop uh from
[19:18]him being approached by by the Mal is it for sure it
[19:25]might based on the traditions of will exempt him from from uh
[19:35]from that stage of bar or that stage in yes time he
[19:56]no yeah okay let me share a tradition with you here yeah
[20:14]oh sorry it did not send me a notification I can't see
[20:24]you no a yes yes okay so the Hadith is in alfi
[21:02]says if you are present beside someone who is dying before he
[21:08]dies then do tell him to say the two testimonies tell him
[21:14]to say that he testifies that there is no God other than
[21:18]Allah he is one Without Partners and that Muhammad is his slave
[21:27]and messenger so for example you tell him this is one tradition
[21:50]we have another tradition here this one is not from it's found
[21:57]in but it's actually a story between someone who believed in and
[22:04]someone who was saved by that believer let's read the narration and
[22:14]see exactly what happened between those two individuals now this one speaks
[22:23]about not only the sh not only the two testimonies but also
[22:28]about the IMs and doing such that you tell the individual to
[22:32]express to reveal his belief in the IM there's a man called
[22:39]AB he the narrator he says what happened with him hence I
[22:45]said it's not a narration from one of the IMs say one
[22:54]of my relatives one of my family members got sick so I
[23:00]came to him and visited him I believe we know that when
[23:02]someone Falls sick when a Muslim Falls sick it's recommended to go
[23:07]and visit them right I told him my nephew I want to
[23:18]advise you I want to give you a piece of advice if
[23:22]I give it to you will you accept it why is he
[23:27]saying this perhaps because not everyone accepts other people's advice and giving
[23:33]advice in itself is a bit uh difficult meaning they say in
[23:40]Arabic a piece of advice is rough meaning people don't accept advice
[23:48]easily and sometimes you feel a sense of discomfort when someone gives
[23:54]you advice so he tells him will you accept it he said
[23:59]yes so I told him AB he says I told him at
[24:11]that point say there is no God other than Allah he is
[24:16]one Without Partners so he said whatever he was told to say
[24:23]he uttered the first testimony it seems from the tradition that Abu
[24:29]Bakr realized this person was on the brink of dying or could
[24:33]have been on the brink of dying so he did he told
[24:52]him listen this testimony will not benefit you you've uttered your belief
[24:57]in the testimony yes you've expressed your belief in it but whatever
[25:02]you did will not benefit you unless you believe in it unless
[25:05]you believe that truly there is no God other than Allah tal
[25:11]and in fact unless you are certain you have you're certain that
[25:14]there is no God other than Allah tal at that point this
[25:20]word will benefit you which is the truth Allah T does not
[25:23]want us to Simply utter the word of belief he doesn't want
[25:28]us to Simply believe believe he wants us to be people who
[25:32]have certainty in him and his vice JS he told I I'm
[25:45]certain I am certain that there is no God other than Allah
[25:50]subhana wa tala so I told him now say the say I
[26:02]testify that Muhammad is his slave and messenger and so he uttered
[26:08]that testimony here repeated the same statement telling him this testimony will
[26:23]not benefit you unless you have y you have certainty in it
[26:29]you believe in it and you're certain that Muhammad is Allah's messenger
[26:33]and his slave s so he told him I believe in it
[26:39]and I have I have certainty in this testimony now he went
[26:57]so here I told him say I testify that Ali is his
[27:04]successor the successor of Muhammad s Al and he is the Calif
[27:08]that comes right after him and he is the Imam whose obedience
[27:14]is a must meaning the IM that must be obeyed by the
[27:20]Muslims after so he uttered that testimony he repeated whatever he was
[27:27]told to say sorry so here again abak repeated his statement telling
[27:52]him this testimony will not benefit you unless you have certainty in
[27:57]it so he told him certain I believe in fact I am
[28:02]certain that Ali is the IM after he's the of the Prophet
[28:14]now realize here whatever AB told him to say is quite detailed
[28:17]right he told him to say that Ali is the successor he
[28:23]is the khif he is the IM hence I told you when
[28:24]you doal you can do it uh by mentioning a minimal amount
[28:30]of words and if you want you can mention more words and
[28:34]more details you can tell the person who's about to pass away
[28:38]or you can tell him and you go on the list is
[28:50]long right it's up to you then again you always have to
[28:56]think you know I don't want to make the whatever I'm doing
[28:59]difficult I do not want to um uh overburden the person who
[29:03]is um about to die the tradition then says sorry we read
[29:23]ready uh we read that that part okay so we told him
[29:30]he believes in it he's certain in that testimony says then I
[29:39]mentioned the imams one by one meaning he told them utter your
[29:43]belief express your belief in alassan say for example or he said
[29:54]it sayin he said it he went on mentioning the IMs one
[29:58]by one and the man would repeat after him and he mentioned
[30:04]to that he was certain in these imams he was certain that
[30:10]they were the imams after then only a little amount of time
[30:20]went by and the Man passed away at that point his family
[30:34]members and or his wife uh felt impatient they began you know
[30:45]crying sobbing they revealed impatience for his loss he says then I
[30:51]went away and I um I held my distance for an amount
[30:56]of time then I came to them and I came to them
[31:06]this time I saw that they were patient when he passed away
[31:09]they became impatient right this is something that happens sometimes or many
[31:19]times when people lose their relative their loved one they might you
[31:24]know become impatient so they don't only cry they don't only for
[31:28]example so they you might hear them yelling screaming maybe beating themselves
[31:34]we told by that we're allowed to cry that's fine but there
[31:41]are limits that you can't cross even when you lose a family
[31:45]member uh impatience revealing impatience for um an ordinary person a fallible
[31:51]human being is is not good crying is normal but becoming impatient
[31:56]is not good whereas for Abdus impatience is needed with the tragedy
[32:03]of abdah you should not be patient you should be impatient hence
[32:07]screaming for the Imam sobbing for the Imam beating yourself for the
[32:13]Imam is is all accepted in fact you will be rewarded for
[32:16]that uh for that kind of impatience abdah so here when he
[32:25]came back he saw that they were patient question yes what do
[32:34]youan that that's a clear form of impatience when you slap yourself
[32:42]and scream and and do such Deeds that's that's a form of
[32:46]impatience right yeah yeah here he asked them how do you find
[32:58]yourselves and how are you he addressed the lady who had lost
[33:05]her husband he told her you know describe your patience for me
[33:13]how are you feeling what is your state what's going on she
[33:29]told him I swear by Allah we've been Afflicted with a great
[33:34]tragedy when passed away may Allah bless him but she told him
[33:47]however there's something that comforted me there's something that uh helped me
[33:54]accept his demise and that is a dream that I saw tonight
[33:57]a dream that I saw on this night I told her what
[34:03]is this dream he told him I saw the same person who
[34:11]had passed away but he was alive in the dream and he
[34:15]was meaning he was at peace was fine he asked him is
[34:24]this you is this fan he said yes it's me I told
[34:32]him didn't you die he said yes I did die I did
[34:38]die but I was saved meaning I was saved in the Hereafter
[34:46]I was saved because of certain words that Abu Bakr told me
[34:51]to utter at the time of that had it not been for
[34:58]these words that AB taught me we're not talking about right not
[35:03]been for the words that taught me and the words that I
[35:13]said before I died I was on the brink of do it
[35:19]was very likely that I would have been led to my Doom
[35:24]so we understand from this story that the at the time of
[35:35]that helps that a person does when you tell the the person
[35:39]who's passing away to reveal his faith to express his faith in
[35:42]Allah and that helps him in fact it might not only help
[35:49]him it might save him from from punishment in the hereafter this
[35:58]is the story that I wanted to share with you we still
[36:06]have a few other Deeds that we need to mention but inallah
[36:12]we'll do that next weekd
