[0:19]all right uh welcome back to our uh Quran classes in before
[0:31]taking our break uh before the season of we were uh giving
[0:38]lessons regarding and the lessons alhamdulillah are recorded on YouTube on my
[0:44]YouTube page so you can uh review the lessons um if you
[0:46]were not present and even if you were present and would like
[0:48]to review them they're they're online uh you can access them inshallah
[0:55]subhah wa tala uh we covered the first two verses ofah say
[1:03]he is Allah he is sorry first day is usually a bit
[1:47]hectic alhamdulillah so we uh we covered the first two verses is
[1:52]and we explained the the meanings in depth alhamd now we we
[2:01]stopped at and we were reading a tradition by in which he
[2:10]explains both and also the verses that come after uh especially so
[2:18]um that being said we're going to look at the narration of
[2:24]Imus and we will'll explain it insh uh since most you were
[2:32]not present during that lesson I'll go over the first part of
[2:36]the narration again quickly and then we'll continue where we left off
[2:41]we Allah subhana T the narration is found in the book let
[2:53]me just send you the the the first few words he says
[3:16]okay if you go on the chat section I sent you the
[3:20]first part of the uh the word of the Imam yes sh
[4:03]so the tradition says IM that IM is Nar to have said
[4:14]that his father Al said that his father said the people of
[4:17]Bas wrote a letter to IM Hussein they were asking him about
[4:23]they wanted to understand what is the meaning of a so the
[4:31]Imam wrote the following answer he says so he wrote for [Music]
[4:43]them hold on did I send the Hadith to all of you
[4:50]I'll send it again just in case okay he wrote so before
[5:16]he explained the meaning of the IM had a comment regarding let's
[5:23]call it a general comment regarding Quran uh surprisingly or interestingly firstly
[5:29]he says which means do not indulge in the uh of alquran
[5:38]as in do not try to understand that's what you can understand
[5:45]from the word do not indulge in what in the of alquran
[5:51]or do not indulge in conversations with each other regarding the Quran
[5:57]or the meanings of the Quran and that brings a question to
[6:02]mind aren we supposed to seek uh to understand alquran and the
[6:09]answer is of course Allah T brought down the Quran so we
[6:14]may study it so we may read it and understand it and
[6:17]then so we may apply it so why would say well the
[6:24]answer lies in the uh in the the parts of the negation
[6:28]that come after this word when he says he says do not
[6:39]argue with each other or argue with people regarding alquran for example
[6:44]you argue with each other about the meanings of a particular verse
[6:48]or the meanings of particular verses in the book and do not
[6:54]speak about Quran without what without knowledge so the word makes us
[7:04]understand why the IM would say he's not telling us that we
[7:11]should not study alquran we should study it he's not telling us
[7:15]that we should not have conversations about Quran and he's not saying
[7:20]that we shouldn't try to understand it what's he saying Al what
[7:25]he's saying is that one should not attempt to understand Quan without
[7:34]knowledge without proper knowledge which helps him understand the holy book makes
[7:41]sense so if we have for example conversations in which we uh
[7:48]through which we seek to understand the holy book but we don't
[7:56]have the tools needed to understand Al Quran Kim than very likely
[8:00]it is very likely that we will misunderstand Quran and we will
[8:08]give wrong interpretations to Alan thinking that we're getting closer to Allah
[8:10]subhana wa taala when the reality is we will only be H
[8:16]becoming more distant from Allah subhanahu waala now in order to understand
[8:25]the Quran we need what we need the the the the words
[8:28]of because explain the Quran because are the uh walking talking breathing
[8:38]Quran so the im here wants to tell them that make sure
[8:43]you refer to us and you excuse me you listen to our
[8:49]words so that you may understand the Quran properly we said this
[8:54]before and we'll say it again unfortunately throughout history and even today
[9:00]many Muslims fell into grave mistakes regarding the of alquran because they
[9:10]distance themselves or detach themselves from so I repeat when he says
[9:25]the IM is telling us that one should not seek to understand
[9:33]the Quran or should not argue with other people with certain individuals
[9:41]regarding the Quran without knowledge without knowledge and I believe it is
[9:55]quite obvious that one of the main prerequisites to understanding Quran is
[10:01]learning Arabic right learning the Arabic language because the Quran is what
[10:06]is in Arabic so if someone attempts to understand the Quran but
[10:15]his knowledge regarding Arabic uh vocabulary or Arabic grammar or other types
[10:25]of Arabic Sciences what we call if his knowledge is poor then
[10:34]most likely he will fall into grave mistakes regarding uh the of
[10:39]then he says he says I heard my grandfather the messenger of
[10:58]Allah sallallahu alai Al say that if someone if someone says a
[11:06]word regarding Quran for example he says Allah says and means X
[11:13]Y and Z or he says Allah says in the Quran uh
[11:20]he says this means ABC he gives a but his is what
[11:28]it's not based on knowledge he doesn't have his his interpretation is
[11:38]based on what his mere opinion or his mere desire the prophet
[11:44]says if someone does this he will have a seat ready for
[11:52]him in Janam God forbid which means that his Fate on the
[11:56]day of judgment will be Janam he will be from the Dwellers
[12:01]of hell so when the prophet says it means that one should
[12:15]refrain from giving his interpretation of alquran Kim unless his words are
[12:24]based on what based on based on knowledge for example he gives
[12:39]his opinion regarding the verses of God subhana wa tala as in
[12:42]he tells you what he understood from the Quran and his team
[12:53]also present what they've understood ofran also presents what he understood of
[13:01]alquran so on so forth these Scholars who give their interpretations of
[13:09]alquran giving interpretations that are based on what based on mere opinions
[13:18]La they're giving interpretations based on based on knowledge for example the
[13:26]MU the um interpreter of Al Quran will use Arabic Sciences what
[13:32]we call to understand he might also use as would do other
[13:41]verses in the Quran to understand the meaning of the verse that
[13:46]he is dissecting because Quran does what parts of the Quran will
[13:54]explain other parts of Al Quran of course uh thirdly they will
[14:00]use the narrations of if you want as we said if you
[14:08]want to understand you must refer to that's a given you must
[14:12]refer to so when these Scholars give their you know uh so-called
[14:23]opinion their opinion is not based on what on on their desire
[14:27]it's not that they're just simply giving opinions regarding alquran they're giving
[14:32]they're showing you what they've understood of alquran and their understanding is
[14:38]based on based on knowledge thank you then the Imam that Allah
[15:06]subhah Waal Allah explained the meaning of we just said that part
[15:12]of the Quran parts of the Quran will explain other parts right
[15:15]the IM said the same applies to Allah himself explained the meaning
[15:20]of a where in which Surah where it say in in so
[15:45]he says when Allah said and we will inallah look at the
[15:50]meanings of that verse he was explaining the meaning of bear in
[16:02]mind that as we said before Ash we had several lessons on
[16:08]aad and we read and explained a lengthy tradition by IM Muhammed
[16:14]in which the IM explains and dissects the word and tells us
[16:20]that each letter in a refers to a specific meaning the Al
[16:28]has a meaning the lamb has a meaning the has a meaning
[16:34]Etc so what is the meaning of in the English translation in
[16:47]some of the translations of alquran Kim you'll find the translator saying
[16:59]that means he beg gets not nor is he begotten what is
[17:09]one primary um understanding that we derive from this verse one of
[17:16]the simplest understandings or interpretations right when I read I understand that
[17:26]Allah subhana wa tala is not like us so he has no
[17:31]parents and he has no children he has no children and that
[17:37]this proves what any belief saying that Allah T has a child
[17:45]the Christians for example said some of them of course not all
[17:51]uh that is the son of Allah subhana wa tala and up
[17:56]until today we have people who say that right he's the son
[17:57]of God so would would be a reply from Allah subhanahu wa
[18:03]taala to that Bel saying no this is not correcta is not
[18:10]my child some individuals some disbelievers said the angels are God's daughters
[18:17]subhah waala the word would be a reply to that belief as
[18:24]well and the same applies to any belief saying that Allah subhana
[18:31]wa ta'ala has a child regardless of who that child is tomorrow
[18:34]if some sort of you know group a new group pops out
[18:39]and says you know Allah tal has children we're all children of
[18:43]God or he has a child and that child is called would
[18:51]be a reply to that belief as well as for we understand
[18:58]from it that he has no parents subhana tala that is a
[19:01]primary and a simple understanding of but takes us to another level
[19:16]as he gives us a detailed explanation and an indepth explanation of
[19:21]so he says means that nothing dance no dance thing came out
[19:42]of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala when you think about matters about things
[19:49]that exist in us or around us you understand that some matters
[19:57]are dense CIF and some matters are what they're like for example
[20:03]uh solids are what are more dense than than gas or gases
[20:09]we took you to chemistry here solids are more dense than gases
[20:14]some matters are dense like your body your physical body some matters
[20:20]are what they're or um Latif they're light like what like the
[20:28]human soul like the human soul when someone passes away and you're
[20:34]beside them you don't see the soul coming out you might you
[20:37]know see certain signs indicating that he's passing away that that's a
[20:44]given usually you see that but you don't see the soul coming
[20:46]out why because it's different than the body uh you don't see
[20:52]it with the physical eye and it's lighter than the body but
[20:56]it exists it's a being and in fact there is an opinion
[21:02]we said this before that even the soul is physical there is
[21:06]an opinion saying the soul is physical but the difference between it
[21:10]and the body is that it is Latif it's very light or
[21:15]light whereas the body is dense so the IM says means no
[21:27]dense thing no Dan matter came out of Allah subhana wa tala
[21:35]abdah give us an example he says I already did like a
[21:39]child when the child when a mother gives birth the child comes
[21:45]out of its mother correct and this applies to humans and animals
[21:49]the child comes out something dense is coming out of the mother
[21:55]so the IM is telling us this does not apply to Allah
[22:02]subh waala no dense thing no dense matter will stem from God
[22:06]subhanahu then he says he says the same applies to any dense
[22:22]matter that comes out of any creation of Allah subhah wa taala
[22:29]here you can think of maybe hundreds if not thousands of examples
[22:33]for example when you cry tears come out of your eyes s
[22:38]tears stream down your face these tears are what they're dense somewhat
[22:44]dense does that happen to Allah subhana wa tala doesn't happen to
[22:48]God subhana wa tala when you sweat the sweat also comes out
[22:52]of your body that's a dense matter coming out of the human
[22:58]body J does that happen to Allah subhana wa T no it
[23:02]doesn't so this is the meaning of no it's part of the
[23:09]meaning it's part of the meaning of mentions more details then he
[23:19]says just as dense matters do not come out of Allah tal
[23:26]do not stem out of God light matters also do not come
[23:33]out of God subhana wa tala because if you look at he's
[23:41]saying thisam because if you look at what happens in the outer
[23:46]World you'll realize that sometimes one dense thing or matter comes out
[23:51]of another dense thing or matter as we said tears come out
[23:55]of your eyes J or sweat comes out out of your body
[24:03]or hair comes out of your head just giving different examples sometimes
[24:09]no the thing that's coming out of you or out of something
[24:14]is light it's not it's not dance so does that apply to
[24:18]Allah the says no negates even that like whatd the gives many
[24:28]examples regarding these matters he says and you can read this part
[24:38]of the tradition in the following way you can read it and
[24:43]you can read ITF we'll explain both if he said then he'd
[24:48]be talking about the human soul all right in is your soul
[24:55]at the time of death and even when you're sleeping your soul
[24:59]comes out of your body the Quran Kim speaks about this sleep
[25:03]and death are very similar sleep is a minor form of death
[25:11]and death is a major form of sleep they have similarities and
[25:17]they have differences one main difference between sleep and that is that
[25:21]when you sleep usually you come back to right usually you come
[25:25]back unless Allah T decrees that you die in your sleep whereas
[25:28]when you die when you die you don't come back up until
[25:34]the day of judgment or up until the day of the day
[25:36]of the return and you can say unless is you know visits
[25:43]your grave and tells you rise from your grave of course with
[25:50]Allah's permission nonetheless so in is the human soul the human soul
[25:53]is what we said earlier it's light it's it'sif it's not uhif
[26:01]it's not dense it is light but it comes out of the
[26:06]body it comes out when you're sleeping it comes out you want
[26:12]to say part of it comes out no problem do you feel
[26:16]it coming out if me your brother is sleeping beside you do
[26:18]you feel part of his NE leaving his body you don't feel
[26:22]it it's light so does that apply to Allah subhana wa tala
[26:29]no then again the IM might have saidas is what who can
[26:36]tell me Naas na is the human soul what's a nafas your
[26:44]breath right your breath when you exhale your breath comes out of
[26:55]you it's light in comparison to the body so it's a light
[26:59]matter so do light matters like human breath come out of Allah
[27:06]tal no and confirms this then he said he said in fact
[27:18]indicates that other types of things do not apply to Allah subhah
[27:28]wa tala what are these things abdah he said or do not
[27:39]stem from Allah not Branch off of God subhana wa tala what
[27:44]are these b or bat they're matters or things that uh that
[27:51]um pop into existence they don't always exist J have fun matters
[28:11]or states that pop into existence things that people or other creations
[28:20]go through but they don't always exist he gives example he says
[28:29]is Sina is what drowsiness sometimes you feel drowsy you don't feel
[28:38]drowsy all the time you feel drowsy when you don't have enough
[28:42]sleep or when it's time to sleep when your body is in
[28:47]need of sleep so it's a state that you go through does
[28:49]Allah go through that he says no and confirms that point one
[28:58]now sleep is one of one of its meanings is a thought
[29:07]sometimes you know you get a thought all of a sudden a
[29:12]thought to do a particular deed a thought to call someone to
[29:15]check up on someone a thought to for example pay sodak you
[29:19]got a thought previously that thought was not there it it came
[29:23]into your mind so now your state changed does that happen to
[29:30]Allah does Allah get random thoughts sometimes no he doesn't subhana wa
[29:32]tala well H distress sometimes you feel distressed because you're going through
[29:41]problems in your life and sometimes believe it or not you're not
[29:44]going through any problem but you still feel distrust for some reason
[29:48]and you don't know why the traditions of explain that sometimes you
[29:54]feel distress or sadness because your brother in faith in another part
[30:03]of the world is going through tough times so you feel what
[30:10]they're going through or part of what they're going through and sadness
[30:25]happiness laughter crying fear hope interest or being interested in something or
[30:42]boredom hunger satisfaction or the satisfaction of your hunger these are all
[30:52]what examples of these that IM Hussein is talking about these These
[30:56]are states that we go through some sometimes you're happy sometimes you're
[31:00]sad sometimes you cry sometimes you laugh sometimes you're hungry sometimes you
[31:06]satisfy your hunger J the human being goes through different states but
[31:12]Allah subhah wa taala does not Allah does not move from one
[31:19]state to another the IM is telling us the word confirms all
[31:30]of these meanings it confirms that Allah doesn't go through different states
[31:51]then he he said Allah is too high too high not in
[32:07]the physical sense too high in the uh uh in the sense
[32:13]that he's too perfect he's too perfect to have something come out
[32:21]of him to have something originate from God himself from the essence
[32:26]of Allah subhana wa tala whether that thing is uh dance or
[32:31]light one might say but didn't we all come from Allah here
[32:36]we say it all depends on what you mean by coming from
[32:40]Allah if you say we came from Allah and you mean that
[32:42]Allah T created us you're right he created us but if you
[32:50]mean that we physically came out of God or that we somehow
[32:54]are part of God or that he's part of us then no
[33:00]that would be incorrect so we came from Allah in what sense
[33:03]in the sense that he created us but I'm not Allah you're
[33:07]not Allah okay I'm part of God no you're not you're not
[33:09]part of Godel God is part of me no he's not part
[33:12]of youel he's different from all of his creations and he's not
[33:19]physically attached to any creation because he's not physical subhana wa tala
[33:23]he's the creator of physical matters before he created physical matters physical
[33:32]things nothing physical existed so he's not physical so we understand from
[33:49]the words ofus that indicates that nothing dance comes out of God
[33:57]and nothing light comes out of God and that Allah subhana wa
[34:04]tala does not go through the states that his Creations or the
[34:08]human beings who are also part of his Creations go through sometimes
[34:13]we're happy sometimes we're sad sometimes we're sick sometimes we're healthy all
[34:18]of these states don't apply to God subhana wa tala and the
[34:24]word confirms all of these meanings at the same time all right
[34:32]it's time to pray here in Windsor we'll uh we'll conclude the
[34:36]class the Quran class for today after Salat inshallah we'll have uh
[34:44]the um class about the Hereafter and then we'll also have the
[34:48]class about building an Islamic household each will be about half an
[34:52]hour inshallah so that we end by 9:00 m
