[0:05]ald in our last lesson we were speaking about the the Deeds
[0:58]that one should do when a person is in when we have
[1:04]a Believer who's on the brink of death and we mentioned a
[1:07]few uh a few things a few points um one of the
[1:14]most important points that we mentioned was that doing the person who's
[1:21]about to pass away is highly important and what we mean by
[1:25]tal is number one telling him to recite utter the two test
[1:35]tonies and also to tell him to express his belief in the
[1:46]IM uh one by one so you tell him as we said
[1:51]say sayi is my say for example is the the Mistress of
[2:03]the woman of the worlds Etc and we mentioned the story about
[2:14]a man called Abu bak alhi and how he um was beside
[2:16]an individual who was related to him and that individual was about
[2:23]to die J so he did and he told him that he
[2:29]has to believe in fact he has to be certain in the
[2:32]words that he is repeating he told him to utter to express
[2:37]his belief in Allah and the IMs and as a result the
[2:43]person ended up being from the Dwellers of heaven so he was
[2:46]saved because of's that being said today inah we're going to continue
[2:56]where we left off um and we will mention at least one
[2:59]more deed which is uh important and which should be done when
[3:06]a person is about to pass away if we have enough time
[3:13]we'll mention two two Deeds uh I thinking about it I remember
[3:27]y like they make him do theah like the same we doah
[3:36]okay what what not yeah does that suffice I would uh I
[3:45]would uh tell him to actually say that he is the Imam
[3:50]yeah yeah why because sayani let's go to the Min he said
[3:58]let me just pull out the fatwa quickly in the chapter of
[4:12]he said yeah so uh it's it's must to to tell him
[4:25]to reveal his faith in the prophet and the IMs so obviously
[4:32]when he's saying Salam to them he's somewhat revealing his belief in
[4:37]them but as I said out of precaution it would be better
[4:41]to tell him you know no say you know fulan is my
[4:46]IM right yeah because that's more explicit yeah in fact say here
[4:53]mentions says that the scholars say it's must to tell the person
[5:00]who's passing away to Express his belief in all of the correct
[5:03]beliefs so this includes other matters like what he says for example
[5:11]fan say say right exactly right or Etc yeah so he mentions
[5:29]beliefs other than his belief in the prophet and the IMs now
[5:36]the the deed that we want to focus on today insh with
[5:42]the limited time we have is it is recommended that when someone
[5:49]is about to pass away you tell him to utter the words
[5:57]of Salvation what are the words of Salvation they they are a
[6:04]or taught to us Byam and apparently this or this Dua is
[6:11]quite powerful quite powerful there's actually a story a modern story that
[6:18]I've heard from one of my teachers pertaining to Du and um
[6:27]the story is someone one of the individuals that I and many
[6:34]people in the used to know uh he was very sick and
[6:41]he was um on the brink of death uh near his final
[6:48]moments um he became agitated now I was not there but my
[6:54]teacher told me what happened he he was present so the Man
[6:57]became agitated for some reason and apparently he maybe got angry or
[7:03]something apparently there was something bothering him so unfortunately there was a
[7:11]nurse who was present and the nurse wanted to give him a
[7:14]needle which would basically end his life the he said no we
[7:23]can't do that we basically cannot kill the M right you cannot
[7:27]participate in killing the m so if this this needle puts an
[7:31]end to his life we cannot give it to him you let
[7:33]Allah do his job you let do his job but we as
[7:38]humans have to do what have to do whatever it takes to
[7:43]preserve the life of the human being right Allah says if a
[7:48]person revives a soul he will be like who someone who revived
[7:54]all of humanity so the she said no we can't do that
[7:56]instead he did of which we shall read inshallah he told him
[8:04]to utter the words that we shall read and Subhan Allah at
[8:11]that point the man uh calmed down he calmed down and after
[8:19]some time he passed away so here my says my teacher he
[8:26]says how in the world would we know that these words actually
[8:33]help the person who is passing away had it not been for
[8:39]the IMs who were given knowledge of the Unseen as we said
[8:48]earlier they knew a a a big chunk of the Unseen right
[8:51]of the knowledge of the Unseen with Allah's permission subhah wa tala
[8:56]so they told us they know exactly what benefits the human being
[9:01]at the time of that and what does not benefit him they
[9:03]told us when someone is about to pass away when the m
[9:08]is about to pass away for example you do of where did
[9:13]they say this for example when we come to sh we have
[9:19]the following tradition which I will narrate for you let me just
[9:23]send it to you and we will read it and understand it
[9:35]inshallah subh question yeah yeah yeah might be a good idea to
[9:49]have a WhatsApp so we can perhaps send it over there and
[9:56]theirt don't wi here okay on S we can give you the
[10:09]Wi-Fi yeah we can give you the Wi-Fi no problem yeah yeah
[10:14]no no no no in we'll give it to you in in
[10:19]yeah no problem yeah he says Al uh the narration said that
[10:31]z may Allah bless his soul said that AB meaning it's an
[10:46]explicit tradition tells him if you find someone who is in the
[10:50]state of and the means he's in the state in which his
[10:55]soul is being pulled out of his body if you find someone
[11:01]in that state then do tell him to utter the words of
[11:04]Salvation what are the words it's very simple um and I would
[11:10]highly you know emphasize on on either taking a picture of these
[11:13]words or writing them down because you never know when you will
[11:16]need them meaning you'll need them for he says there is no
[11:34]God other than Allah he is meaning the one who is patient
[11:41]such that he does not bestow his punishment quickly on the people
[11:45]who deserve punishment Alim the generous there is no God other than
[11:52]Allah the one who is exalted the Great Subhan Allah when we
[12:05]say he's exalted we mean that he's he is uh very high
[12:10]not in the physical sense the sense that he is perfect subhana
[12:14]wa tala exalted is Allah Subhan Allah we've said before is a
[12:33]word which uh means we are negating all imperfections we're saying that
[12:42]Allah subhana T has no imperfections so when we say Subhan Allah
[12:46]we're saying Allah has what absolutely no form of incompletion and no
[12:52]form of in imperfection such as stinginess cruelty ignorance weakness and other
[12:59]kinds of imp Perfections Allah is who he is the lord of
[13:04]the Skies the seven skies and he is the lord of the
[13:12]seven Earths or the seven lands the reason I say seven Earths
[13:15]or seven lands is the word Arin could mean Earths J and
[13:23]it could also mean lands because a piece of land on Earth
[13:28]is called what and the whole earth is called one may say
[13:38]ER could it be that there are other planets like planet Earth
[13:45]in this galaxy or in this in this universe we say for
[13:47]sure precisely who says there isn't perhaps there there are seven Earths
[13:56]but we've we have not discovered them yet and he is the
[14:10]Lord of what lies in the skies and the lands or the
[14:16]Earths and what lies in between the skies and the Earth or
[14:21]the lands and he is the Lord of what is below the
[14:25]skies and the Earths or the lands and he is the lord
[14:33]of the great throne and all praise belongs to Allah the lord
[14:40]of the worlds these are very simple here IM told Z that
[15:13]if he was beside a man called if he was beside at
[15:20]the time of death he would have benefited all right a question
[15:32]was posed to the following IM how would he have benefited IM
[15:40]said I would have benefited him but how right this question is
[15:44]interesting why because you realize sometimes the Imam says something and the
[15:49]person who hears the word of the Imam or the person who
[15:54]hears about his word meaning someone who was not present when the
[15:58]IM said his word but the word of the Imam reached him
[16:02]uh doesn't understand exactly what the IM meant and so in such
[16:14]cases the following Imam or imams who came you know maybe decades
[16:20]or centuries after the Imam who said whatever he said those imams
[16:27]were asked those imams would be asked what did Imani mean when
[16:33]he said this is what happened with IM he said a word
[16:39]and uh someone did not understand what he meant so he asked
[16:45]IM he was asked how would he have benefited he would have
[16:56]told him to express his belief in what in what you believe
[17:00]in IM is is addressing who the sh meaning the IM would
[17:06]have told him to express his belief in to say that he
[17:15]believes in I haven't seen a narration saying which one should be
[17:32]first so we understand that both should be done but I can't
[17:36]say this one should be before the other one so if you're
[17:41]there beside someone who's who's passing away just do both and you'll
[17:45]you'll be good yeah or he'll be good right person who's uh
[17:54]mention nice yeah why with in in one of the um in
[18:23]one of the footnotes or one of the uh the commentaries on
[18:29]alfi it is mentioned that would visit IM but he was uh
[18:44]following he was following where is the story it is mentioned that
[19:19]was a slave for ab sorry in the commentary it's mentioned that
[19:34]he was a slave forb Abbas in is AI mentioning that was
[19:42]he would go to IM right but he would he was he
[19:49]had the beliefs of yeah okay let's see if we have enough
[20:19]time to mention another point we'll take five more have five more
[20:32]minutes inallah another Hadith on this regard regarding K is the following
[20:56]Al found in alfi this one is uh interesting of course all
[21:02]of the are interesting uh but what makes this one interesting is
[21:10]IMI mentions the great effect of du what effect does it have
[21:19]when the person who's about to pass away actually says it when
[21:22]you do you're telling him to say it after you so when
[21:28]he says it what happens here the tradition says also he says
[21:37]it was IM Ali's habit that when one of his relatives would
[21:42]be on the brink of death he would do the following he
[21:46]would tell him say here we realize that there's a bit of
[22:04]a difference between this version of and the one that IM mentioned
[22:12]and that's not an issue if you want to mention all of
[22:18]the versions that mentioned in their that's fine no problem but the
[22:25]Imam would tell the individual who's passing away to say these words
[22:33]I did not translate them because from the the previous Hadith we
[22:37]should know the translation for these words now the IM says if
[22:47]the person who's sick would say it meaning the person who's about
[22:53]to die he's sick he's and he's about to die if he
[22:55]would say it after the IM the IM would tell him go
[23:02]go go forth meaning you have nothing to fear meaning your faith
[23:08]and the Hereafter is a good faith you're protected from Allah's punishments
[23:14]yes how much before his death well it's during you you can
[23:25]you can tell him to to recite at any time that's fine
[23:28]but right now we're talking about so he has to be in
[23:34]that state where um the soul is coming out basically you be
[23:39]able to tell sometimes you can tell yes or or many times
[23:43]you can tell me as an example um your relative or your
[23:51]friend is sick okay and um the doctor say there's no more
[24:01]hope for him it's only a matter of days or hours before
[24:06]he passes away and then you realize that his state is gradually
[24:09]getting worse and you're in the hospital for example or in your
[24:13]house and you see that you know the the numbers are dropping
[24:17]so his O oxygen level is dropping his heartbeats are dropping so
[24:21]you know that he is in that state yeah not to forget
[24:27]that uh um sometimes by simply looking at the the person and
[24:34]seeing what's happening with him um you can you can you can
[24:37]you can tell or might be able to tell that he is
[24:48]in another example would bean suppose let's say uh uh you you
[24:59]saw one of your friends or family members after he uh after
[25:06]a collision so a car accident happened and he's right in front
[25:10]of you and you see that you know his his state is
[25:13]not the best and it's as if he's you know giving his
[25:18]last breath so you know he's in in that case or someone's
[25:20]in a battle and his friend gets shot they his critically wounded
[25:24]and he's also you know he's changed you feel that us these
[25:31]are the last moments yeah so when when you're seeing that for
[25:35]example it's an accident it's sudden like in battle or in a
[25:41]car accident for example um should you give the person an opportunity
[25:44]to say his will to you or or should you for the
[25:50]something thing what comes first I'm unsure at the moment so I
[25:56]can ask yeah yeah uh yeah I can ask I mean would
[26:05]it make more sense to do the world first because things he
[26:09]doesn't have to be physically able to rep if he has that
[26:22]time see both are important the will is important is important but
[26:31]is also important for his own faith in the Hereafter right yeah
[26:36]but then again his will also um parts of his will might
[26:44]uh be connected to to his fate in the Hereafter if he
[26:49]has if he has debts to pay but people don't know about
[26:55]these debts he's going to tell he's going to have to tell
[26:57]the people you know I have debts to pay F I have
[27:00]to pay him this much I have to pay F this much
[27:04]because these are H these are rights for the people and if
[27:06]he doesn't give them their rights he's going to be in trouble
[27:09]so both both are important but which one comes first that I'd
[27:17]have to ask I have to ask about that
