[28:40]after a long time meeting dear friends um and on the Night

[28:49]Like This truly one of the great Eid is theid of muah

[28:52]and it is our habit and it is our duty that on

[28:58]the day days of celebration of we are with them in celebration

[29:03]and in the days of Sorrow which are soon to arrive we

[29:09]are there to share in their sorrow and this is part of

[29:11]which Alam asked us for that I don't ask anything except that

[29:19]you maintain that close relationship with myam so today is a day

[29:23]of Happiness is a day of Joy um and what I thought

[29:29]I would do is especially for the youngsters and especially because I

[29:34]see that little is known outside Shia circles or rather little is

[29:39]mentioned outside Shia circles about this particular Eid and it is something

[29:43]that is a welln and important part of history and if we

[29:50]ourselves don't know that much about it how will we inform Muslim

[29:53]about it its sad is from the Quran itself it is based

[29:59]on the verses of the Quran and on clear rat across all

[30:02]schools of thought so I thought that at least share that basic

[30:06]data with you and see what else inshallah we can learn from

[30:12]this event please recite Muhammad Ali Muhammad there's no doubt that within

[30:23]mubahila there is an Accolade there is a mention of the position

[30:39]of which is one of the clearest mentions of MAA in the

[30:45]Quran and this is important to know because many times people say

[30:49]you make a lot about Amir you make a you you make

[30:53]a lot about alib bin ABI Talib of course we also respect

[30:57]him but where is this position in the Quran well one of

[31:00]them is this verse that I'm going to recite in front of

[31:06]you where Allah subhah wa says whoever now this is the context

[31:17]of it which I will talk later on is the delegation of

[31:19]Christians from Yemen from njan who came to Madina to debate withas

[31:26]s alaihi Al wasallam about his religion and about what they had

[31:32]from the injil and their tradition and to try to actually debate

[31:43]however an impass was reached and at that point Allah subhanahu wa

[31:48]ta'ala said well if they continue to argue and you have already

[31:57]placed in front of them clear knowledge about this matter then tell

[32:00]them there is no other recourse there is no other now way

[32:05]what you do come we call our children and you call your

[32:15]children call our women you call your women ourselves and you call

[32:25]yourselves then what then when we have gathered in this way then

[32:35]we say after this in this solemn situation whoever now continues to

[32:42]lie may Allah subhanahu T's curse be on him this here it

[32:54]means that we seek you know we do Dua against each other

[33:00]and we seek Allah as the arbitrator arbitrator on this that whoever

[33:06]is the liar Allah subhanahu wa tala's curse and Punishment come now

[33:12]when I say it is a it is mentioned in the books

[33:19]of our brothers for example in a Hadith I brought from sahim

[33:23]Muslim in which it is the Bob of the virtues of the

[33:28]companions of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam in which abias says that

[33:38]when muaah bin Abu sufyan appointed S as governor in one of

[33:46]the provinces he found the who was an early Muslim he found

[33:53]him reluctant to follow the official line that at the end of

[35:38]take with him alibali otherwise Ali was the commander who would be

[35:42]in front in every Expedition but he left him behind at which

[35:45]point because of some of the things people were saying Amir followed

[35:49]him out of Madina and said to him Yol Allah do you

[35:53]leave me with the elderly and the children and the women and

[35:57]the prophet SAS says I heard him say with his with my

[36:03]own ears that he said to you Ali is it not enough

[36:07]as a Fila as a merit for you that your position to

[36:09]me is the position of Haron to Musa except that there is

[36:15]no Prophet after me that is the rank that at which you

[37:19]and Allah loves him he said we all on the next morning

[37:24]were standing on our tiptoes so that rasool Allah would not miss

[37:28]us at that time he said call Ali and alib ab Talib

[37:34]had not been at that point active in kber because of some

[37:37]injury or some infection in the eyes and when he called him

[37:42]he had this sickness in the eyes wiped his saliva on the

[37:49]eyes of Ali and then when aliam came forward on that day

[37:52]19th day and marab came out bring in two swords out and

[38:00]Ali Alam looked at him and said to him it is good

[38:06]you have come do you know who I am mhab said I

[38:07]don't know who you are he said I am the man whose

[38:11]mother called him ha haer means a lion who is tearing the

[38:18]opponent apart and mhab began to shake because he was seeing in

[38:22]his dreams for several days he is being opened up by a

[38:25]lion so he said said that because of that Ali that Prophet

[38:38]gave him and the third he said is that when the Christians

[38:43]in nine Hijra came and the prophet announced that the Ayah has

[38:47]come down to me that I will bring my children they will

[38:51]bring their children and I will bring my women and they will

[38:53]bring their women and I will bring and they will bring their

[38:56]selves he said when the time came I saw that in the

[39:03]place of himself or as hisself he brought Ali and because of

[39:10]these three reasons I mu will never curse this man becauseas has

[39:14]given him that degree this is in the book of the Muslims

[39:18]so what exactly happened on this day well we know that this

[39:26]24th Z towards the the end of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam

[39:30]life 9 Hijra 10 Hijra these are known asul the years of

[39:35]Delegation after delegation was coming into Medina to give Allegiance it was

[39:40]like the whole of Arabia was now had reached a Tipping Point

[39:46]and after that every tribe every time was coming to the prophet

[39:50]sallallahu alaihi wasallam to give B and said we have accepted Islam

[39:53]our tribe has expect accepted Islam we live in this part of

[39:58]of Arabia then the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam would send with them

[40:02]a Muslim who would teach them Dean because they had been idolators

[40:05]they had now accepted Islam he would send someone with them who

[40:11]would teach them Dean who would teach them the Quran and would

[40:14]be if you like their at this time the prophet sallallahu alaihi

[40:19]wasallam did not content himself with just the kufar and the musun

[40:26]uh in Arabia IA but also he began to write letters to

[40:32]nearby rulers amongst them he wrote to the rulers in Egypt he

[40:36]wrote to the sassanids and he also wrote to the Christian rulers

[40:41]in Yemen in njan and um in N Hijra he wrote a

[40:52]letter to them and he said he wrote it in such a

[40:53]way that to show the similarities in message he mentioned the same

[41:01]prophets whom they also held in high regard and the letter in

[41:04]brief says in the name of the god of ibraim ishak and

[41:09]yob this letter is from Muhammad the prophet and messenger of Allah

[41:17]to the Asaf the bishop of njan praise be to the god

[41:22]of ibraim ishak and yob I invite you to come to the

[41:31]worship of Allah instead of the worship of his servants means that

[41:35]you venerate Jesus you venerate Isa you think he is somehow the

[41:39]Son of God or God brought in the flesh I invite you

[41:44]to leave the worship of creation and come to the worship of

[41:47]Creator and I invite you in the name of the same Prophet

[41:52]the god of the same prophets whom you respect and whom I

[41:58]am a successor to now the bishop in najran took the letter

[42:06]seriously because by this time there was no one anywhere around Arabia

[42:10]who had not learn heard about Islam and the prophet of Islam

[42:17]and the fortune and the expansion of the Muslims so he knew

[42:22]who they were and a delegation was formed a delegation to go

[42:27]and speak intellectually and debate with the prophet of Islam some say

[42:35]14 people others say more came well-trained people to Medina to investigate

[42:40]the claim ofam now as is their way even till today you

[42:54]know the priesthood we don't have in Islam priesthood but they have

[43:00]a very you know established priesthood the Christians and uh you know

[43:22]clothes um of silk and gold when they attempted to have an

[43:29]initial meeting with the prophet sallallah alaih Al wasallam they found that

[43:35]rather than being you know welcomed there was a sense that he

[43:41]was not happy to see them he himself had called them but

[43:45]he turned away and he did not pay much attention to them

[43:48]and they were taken AB by this so they Tred to find

[43:53]the reason what have we done to offend him why does he

[43:56]not want to sit with us somebody said to him that the

[44:00]clothes in which you have come this silk and gold this does

[44:03]not befit men of God it's a cloth of Kings isn't it

[44:08]you know when Gandhi came to England he was dressed in those

[44:14]two H spun white clothes and he came and they said he

[44:18]was going to meet King George and they said that you are

[44:20]going to meet the king dressed in two pieces of Lungi and

[44:25]cloth he said well the king is wearing enough for both of

[44:28]us the King has got more clothes enough for both of us

[44:33]isn't it so they were dressed in this way so somebody invited

[44:35]according to somebody advised them according to Hadith Amir maybe was involved

[44:42]in this say look this dress it's not befitting change into simple

[44:45]dress and when they did do that then the prophet sallallahu alaihi

[44:51]wasallam welcomed them and met with them in the mosque of Medina

[44:54]itself and there a very instructive things you know when we have

[44:56]a mosque m is this a mosque or is an IM or

[45:01]Salah what is it is there a portion of it that is

[45:04]mosque not yet Suppose there is mosque a a part of a

[45:10]mosque and that even a mosque like M possibly the second well

[45:18]the second greatest mosque in Islam actually and yet these Christians asked

[45:23]for place to worship and this is something we can take instruction

[45:28]from ourselves that if we have a mosque and people ofab whether

[45:34]Christian or Jews they say to you that it is time for

[45:37]our worship and they are in our Center would we say to

[45:40]them you know we better put these people in the Sports Hall

[45:44]we better put these people in this particular room but not in

[45:49]the mosque and not in the Salah noas gave them a spot

[45:51]inside BWI he said bah worship Worship in your way whatever you

[45:56]need to finish your worship you're welcome in this mosque this is

[45:59]something we can learn from so hope they worshiped there and then

[46:06]they began to debate over a period of days now amongst the

[46:16]things they debated once they had exhausted their commonalities and they discovered

[46:24]that there were many things they had similar they began now to

[46:29]show show why their religion and their theology was Superior to that

[46:35]of the prophet sallallahu alaih wasallam and amongst them the first thing

[46:39]they said was that look Isa is superior to everybody because he

[46:51]is born without the agency of a father his father is Allah

[46:53]subhana tala he is the Son of God he had had no

[46:58]father do you not accept that yourself that he had no father

[47:02]said we accept that he had no father that he was born

[47:09]miraculously without the agency of a father to Mar so they said

[47:14]that's proves his superiority there's no human like him at that point

[47:19]interestingly sallallahu alaihi wasallam said to them stay in Medina for a

[47:24]little while I await wah from Allah subhanahu waa to respond to

[47:28]this and the very next day a verse came down which is

[47:34]in al Imran ayat 59 Allah says if you the example of

[47:45]Isa in the eyes of Allah is no different from the example

[47:49]of Adam right when Allah decreed it he made him from from

[47:56]clay and then said to him be and he was within this

[48:02]there is a nuance and an implication that Isa Salam if he

[48:07]has got F because there is no father Adam has no father

[48:09]or Mother where will you place him in your hierarchy it's not

[48:15]a case of father or mother it's a case of Allah subh

[48:18]decreeing and then saying there's no difference so it is a MOA

[48:24]but there is no difference here between him and AD they continue

[48:31]to argue when they continue to argue now they were arguing for

[48:36]the sake of arguing and so this verse came down in Surah

[48:40]Al Imran again 61 if they continue to argue after what has

[48:45]come of knowledge then say to them you let us call our

[48:50]sons you call yours let us call our women you call your

[48:53]women and let us call ourselves and then we call yourselves it's

[49:00]interesting that in the court of mmon in the last years when

[49:06]im had moved toan to Marv and was you know at the

[49:16]side of maon as his so-called W his his Crown Prince as

[49:25]it were in there were many debates mun took full advantage of

[49:27]the knowledge of IM Alam right he had no intention of letting

[49:31]Imam Alam come into power but meanwhile to consolidate his power on

[49:36]the kingdom because he was he had used it if you like

[50:27]became the Khalifa now there was a lot of murmuring going on

[50:29]amongst the abas sides themselves amongst the Arabs that you know is

[50:45]get the Shia on his side he promoted Imam Ram that look

[51:03]was the Christians whether it was the Jews whether it was the

[51:09]Muslims of different schools of thought whether it was those who were

[51:13]the zind with no religion each one would fall under the debate

[51:17]of Imam Ram now one day there was a debate going on

[51:23]about the Eminence of Amir am and Imam said that the proof

[51:34]of this of the preeminence of alib Talib is in this a

[51:39]of mu so mun in that meeting he gave the stock answer

[51:48]which is given by sis he said that we accept AB alass

[51:53]Hussein we accept but when it comes to ourselves it means because

[52:01]who is yourself if Allah subh says bring your children we'll bring

[52:06]our children we'll bring our women you bring we'll bring ourselves you

[52:10]bring yourselves what does our self mean it means himself Imam answered

[52:16]him in one word after which mun did not speak he said

[52:20]what will you do with the word that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

[52:27]says let us call our children you call your children let us

[52:36]call our women you call let us call ourselves you call yourselves

[52:43]what will you do with this word if it just means no

[52:45]he is summoning someone to join him and who he's summoning is

[52:50]Al so when they came for muah the bishop told his people

[53:03]look let us see who he comes with let us see who

[53:04]he brings if he brings his retinue his soldiers his generals his

[53:11]you know seniors with him then he is not like every other

[53:15]king and we will enter into muah to their amazement they saw

[53:21]the prophet arriving with two children holding the hands of two children

[53:23]alhassan and Al Hussein behind him was one lady only f z

[53:35]and bringing the rear was Amir when he saw this and then

[53:43]he saw to his horror because this was a scholar who was

[53:47]learned he saw the prophet sit down on his knees he immediately

[53:55]turned to his people and said this is the way of sitting

[53:57]of prophets when they sit to curse this is how the messengers

[54:03]of God sit on their knees when they about to curse withdraw

[54:07]withdraw and tell them we do not want mu with you we

[54:12]do not want to enter into this we will sue for terms

[54:17]we accept the terms this man has brought his own family with

[54:20]him he is not afraid to call down Allah's WTH on us

[54:24]and he has sat himself down in a way that he's totally

[54:27]prepared to do so so who did the prophet bring as his

[54:34]sons did he not have other sons did he not have other

[54:36]women because this verse is talking about women in plural it seems

[54:42]that there was no one Prophet was married at that time of

[54:45]course there was no one who qualified for the term his women

[54:53]other than ftim Z there was no one who qualified to be

[55:03]called except for alali see and there was no one who qualified

[55:09]to be known as the children of the prophet and that is

[55:13]why forever more after that the imams of their favorite way of

[55:21]addressing that they preferred was oh son of the Prophet because that

[55:25]is how they had been brought to Mobile so on this day

[55:32]then we find that this is a day of great victory for

[55:39]the Muslim first of all it is also a clear clear indication

[55:41]that if there is any sharik and any partner in the mission

[55:44]ofas s alaih wasallam it is the five people he has come

[55:50]with it is that group that patan the patan that he has

[55:56]come forms the core group The if you like the ones who

[55:58]gathered under the kah when we had this verse recited where Allah

[56:01]subhanahu wa ta'ala says to jibrael yes you can go and join

[56:12]of five and Allah said yes go join them and he said

[56:14]to him but who are they Ya Allah not that he did

[56:19]not know he said you described them you introduced them and he

[56:24]said it is Fatima her father her husband and her children so

[56:35]this patan this group of five this this group who went for

[56:43]muah this was that Core Group who Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala kept

[56:48]the burden of Islam and its propagation on their shoulders and that

[56:56]is why we have for example that when once a man says

[56:59]I went into the presence of IM and it was the days

[57:09]of the first 10 days of muharam which are coming next week

[57:12]he said I saw him crying and tears were rolling like beads

[57:18]from down his cheeks and I said to him martydom is the

[57:26]way of your heart house and your forefathers one by one have

[57:31]been killed but why do You Weep like this on Hussein and

[57:36]then Imam Alam made an indication to this Mah he said you

[57:42]know while Hussein was alive was alive but when they killed him

[57:49]it was like they killed the punan all over again see so

[57:53]this group that gathered in bahila is the preeminent group amongst the

[57:58]Muslim and make no mistake about it you should not be ashamed

[58:03]to declare it it is it is there in the Quran and

[58:07]it is something that many times I I guarantee you if you

[58:09]have friends who are non sh and you start to mention mubah

[58:14]to them they will say you know we were not aware of

[58:15]this we have not been taught this we do not hear about

[58:20]this well tell them here the Ayah 361 go and read the

[58:26]T there in all the T books of the Sunnah exactly who

[58:33]went withas so what happened as a result the Christians they made

[58:40]an agreement that they will pay gizia and they will pay uh

[58:44]a certain amount of uh tax every year the prophet kept that

[58:50]tax very very low for them there were more than 60,000 Christians

[58:54]in njan and he could have taxed them because they did not

[58:59]want to fight the Muslims in Madina they had seen the power

[59:03]of the Muslims um they could have taxed them heavily instead unusually

[59:08]he told them that every year you will prepare 30 suits of

[59:13]armor the the the people in Nan were were good at making

[59:18]light armor it wasn't heavy they used to make it with rings

[59:21]interlocking rings and soldiers could wear them and it was not heavy

[59:27]he said you will send 30 suits of armor or we will

[59:29]pick it up every year from yourselves and also horses and a

[59:36]certain amount 30 horses only and certain number of camels that will

[59:39]be Yia which we will collect every year kept it very low

[59:43]and the reason he kept it very low is he did not

[59:44]want to burden them and according to Hadith in Nan within two

[59:49]years all of them became Muslim and that Christian hold that was

[59:55]there in Yemen finished so we pray to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

[60:01]that we thank him rather that we are those who have held

[60:10]on to the will of alam and in these days of and

[60:16]mu it is great source of Pride for us honor for us

[60:19]that he is our Imam we pray to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

[60:24]to keep us in the company of those who are mentioned in

[60:30]this Ayah inshallah in the we pray to Allah subhanahu wa taala

[60:33]that by the Bara of this night those people who have come

[60:37]to this m or are listening to this m and there is

[60:39]sadness in their heart for whatever reason may Allah alleviate that sadness

[60:43]take it away from them if there is some sickness in their

[60:48]body may Allah subhana give them sha from that and may Allah

[60:51]subhana tal if they have a hajah that has not come to
