[28:28]to the Imam of our time time on the W of his
[28:29]grandfather our 10th holy IM IM aliam kindly join me in reciting
[28:44]Surah fa Forum Shir by ALU who chisma we Mark today for

[29:20]also be a program at the center on Saturday the 29th of
[29:25]June to commemorate the shahadat of the sons of HZ Muslim alisam
[29:29]the program will begin at 7M with and majus will be recited
[29:32]by alhaj Mustafa masud inshallah for tonight's majus we are honored to
[29:39]be once again hosting Sayed rahan Naki Dr Sayed rahan Naki is
[29:45]a theologian and an energy transition scientist he obtained a PhD in
[29:51]Energy Engineering from ntnu Norway and worked for shell for several years
[29:55]before he developed a passion for Islamic theology after years of study
[30:00]he specialized in quranic sciences and T and obtained Thea rat from
[30:04]several Mar Maraj in addition he has authored the book the people
[30:10]of deeper understanding on thematic exeresis of UL albab in the Quran
[30:16]he also holds a graduate diploma in international relations from lsse and
[30:20]a diploma in web journalism from University of nland nowadays in parallel
[30:23]with his religious work he works in London as a carbon capture
[30:29]and storage expert for one of the major energy companies he is
[30:33]also an ECB certified Cricket coach kindly join me in reciting three
[30:37]salawat to welcome him to the wbar salawat [Music] CL ald muham
[32:18]please recite a salawat [Music] respected listeners my dear brothers and sisters
[32:40]do you know which Peak is the second highest in the world
[32:48]which mountain peak is the second highest in the world it's K2
[32:55]K2 there is a city not very far from K2 and I
[33:03]have a friend who grew up there and he told me a
[33:12]personal anecdote from his childhood and he told me that they had
[33:16]a mosque in their neighborhood and the organizers and the steering committee
[33:22]of the mosque would gather once a year and they would allocate
[33:28]time and resources and prepare the calendar for different occasions different monat
[33:37]to commemorate different martyrdoms and to celebrate different birthday anniversaries because the
[33:46]whole neighborhood is 12 Shia and then they would give different dates
[33:52]allocate different dates to different sponsors and one day one of his
[34:03]aunts from the neighborhood came to see his mother and started complaining
[34:08]and said that look at those people the steering committee they're doing
[34:15]nepotism they're doing nepotism they have given all the major occasions like
[34:24]13th of rajab a to their own friends and relatives and what
[34:34]have they left for us IM IM Etc because they are minor
[34:42]occasions it is not a big honor to be sponsor of the
[34:48]birthday anniversary or martydom anniversary of IM or IM because they are
[35:01]small CH minor occasion insignificant occasion that's why we don't care who
[35:09]is the speaker who is the sponsor when the program is going
[35:13]to start what is going to happen we don't care this is
[35:19]the story of not this congregation this is the story of all
[35:24]the congregations all across the world unfortunately so is this a minor
[35:39]occasion today no the 14 infallibles the holy prophet sallallah alai said
[35:53]muhamad we are all Muhammad and attributes and recite a and this
[36:08]is really a great pity this is such a shame that we
[36:12]do not pay attention to these occasions and we need to change
[36:15]we need to change the organizers take the effort they organize the
[36:20]program but unfortunately this has become the trend which I hope and
[36:26]pray that will inshallah change but there is also a reason for
[36:31]it that sometimes the audiences think what am I going to learn
[36:34]there is not much really to learn about IM we don't know
[36:41]much about him it's going to be the same stories it's going
[36:44]to be the repetition of the same things we hear year after
[36:50]year so what's the point rather I would recite the Quran for
[36:54]example this is a misunderstanding this is not a wise way of
[37:03]thinking because even if we do not have a lot of information
[37:08]about even then year after year we have to talk about them
[37:15]we have to talk about them we have to remember them we
[37:20]have to remember their names and we have to pass this on
[37:23]to our children and next Generations but by the way it is
[37:29]not so that we do not have enough material to talk about
[37:33]the imams although these last three imams and I'm going to talk
[37:39]about the reasons why we do not know much about these three
[37:43]imams IM IM and Imam I'm going to talk about that during
[37:49]the speech but still there is quite some Legacy they have left
[37:55]in the form of their ath and if we talk about one
[38:05]Hadith a year during their birthday anniversaries we still have got 30
[38:10]40 50 60 maybe 100 a Hadith which is sufficient to talk
[38:14]about for the rest of our lives and take a closer look
[38:19]at their legacy their Hadith their words of wisdom this is what
[38:23]I'm going to do in today's lecture but in the second half
[38:30]the first half is going to be about history because as I
[38:33]said it is very important to learn about the Imam learn about
[38:38]the kind of circumstances he lived in so what I'm going to
[38:41]do in the first half of the lecture for about 20 minutes
[38:46]or so is a brief synopsis of the life of the Imam
[38:49]where where he was born his parents his siblings his children and
[38:55]there are many interesting things that we can learn about when we
[39:00]take a closer look at his children and siblings and about history
[39:07]and also uh before that I'll talk about the main reasons why
[39:12]we do not have a lot of information or many um things
[39:20]we don't know about the life of these three imams that would
[39:23]be the first half important and inshallah hopefully you will learn a
[39:27]couple of things that are going to help you understand what kind
[39:33]of Life the Imam had and also increase your and understanding and
[39:38]increase the love of the Imam in your hearts and our hearts
[39:41]inshallah and then in the second part for 15 to 20 minutes
[39:48]or so I'll narrate a Hadith by the Imam which is profound
[39:53]deep beautiful and very relevant for the kind of times and circumstances
[40:02]we are living in inshallah but uh before I proceed wherever you
[40:06]are you who are blessed to be present here and those who
[40:08]are blessed to be watching this program online from the bottom of
[40:14]your heart please recite aawat so why don't we know about the
[40:28]lives of the these three imams after Imam Ram we had IM
[40:37]jaad IM and IM and then the IM of our times please
[40:42]recite awat so why don't we know much the first thing the
[40:53]first reason we don't know much about the lives of these three
[40:56]imams is is that they did not live long this is what
[41:03]we find in Islamic literature Islamic scholarship one main reason is that
[41:08]they did not have a long life 25 28 and 402 years
[41:17]Imam lived 25 jaad 28 imar Alam and 42 which is not
[41:26]very long that's what they say in in comparison with Imam who
[41:31]was a famous man in his times who was supposed to be
[41:37]the mun had appointed him to be his successor worldly position which
[41:45]the Imam did not need nor did it increase the status of
[41:48]the Imam but Imam was known throughout the kingdom and he was
[41:52]very famous and highly revered for that worldly position he had which
[41:58]he was not really interested in but still people knew him and
[42:02]after that all the imams were called the IM Ram had such
[42:12]a status that after that every Imam IM jaad IM IM IM
[42:15]they were all called the son of so they were giving the
[42:21]that Association to them now they did not live very long but
[42:26]what is more important that is the secondary is that they because
[42:31]25 2842 is not very short life but they lived under extreme
[42:36]operation extreme oppression so much so that these imams lived pretty much
[42:45]all their lives or a big parts of their lives under house
[42:50]arrest and people were not free to come and meet them people
[42:54]could not simply freely go and see the Imam meet the Imam
[43:01]ask the questions no extreme oppression IM had his Representatives who were
[43:09]called W throughout the the Islamic world he had his representatives and
[43:14]that system had been established from previous from the times of the
[43:19]previous imams so the Imam did have his Representatives but they were
[43:23]not free to come to Samar and meet the Imam because the
[43:29]Imam had been forced by mutwakil to move from Medina to samur
[43:33]the city in Iraq nowadays where he is buried and under house
[43:39]arrest it is written in history books that some of the representatives
[43:43]of the Imam would go to see him disguised as Street Hawkers
[43:50]Waterman these kind of things they couldn't openly go and meet the
[43:58]Imam you you see this faith that we take for granted today
[44:02]IM whom we take for granted today this Faith hasn't reached us
[44:13]just like that today we just sit in our comfortable rooms and
[44:16]please I would appreciate uh these distractions and these sounds I would
[44:22]greatly appreciate it because it's a small room it distracts me please
[44:25]recite a salawat it hasn't reached us just like that the imams
[44:37]underwent so much oppression so when people can't even meet them how
[44:44]would they write about them everything was being done in secrecy otherwise
[44:50]people would be beheaded the third reason we don't know much about
[44:55]them is that the history was written by non Shia people the
[45:02]history was mostly written by non Shia people and you know that
[45:09]the Kings they always buy the historians throughout the history they have
[45:14]bought the pen of the historians therefore they didn't write about the
[45:19]imams number four those who wrote history they were mostly focused on
[45:24]the political aspects of the world of the Islamic Kingdom and Imam
[45:29]RZA alisam was somewhat involved in politics although he never took active
[45:35]part in politics but since he was in the in the times
[45:40]of Imam R Alam supposed to be the successor to mmon so
[45:45]people wrote a lot about him but the rest of the imams
[45:47]after him had nothing to do with politics so they didn't write
[45:55]about the imams and then the last reason is the will of
[45:59]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala the last reason we find is the will
[46:05]of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to prepare the Shia for the occultation
[46:12]reducing minimizing the direct contact with their followers these imams so that
[46:19]slowly slowly if people are used to seeing the Imam meeting the
[46:23]Imam sitting with the Imam dining with the Imam and then one
[46:28]day they pass away and then the occultation starts then the final
[46:32]me final Messiah the 12th Imam goes into occultation and people say
[46:35]we were used to seeing the Imam and what happens now so
[46:39]it was the will of Allah subhah wa ta'ala that these direct
[46:43]contacts will be minimized and eventually phased out so there were different
[46:49]reasons anyway despite that they did their job these three imams Imam
[46:57]in particular in those times what the Imam did and you will
[47:03]be surprised to know maybe is that the Imam talked a lot
[47:11]about of aliam today people say whatever the occasion you talk about
[47:19]ali there are some people in our communities you always talk about
[47:28]ali you always talk about Will Ali IM talked a lot wherever
[47:36]he got the opportunity he would talk about of and he would
[47:48]talk about the merits and F of the Amir and we know
[47:54]that the Imam narrated or dict ated which Isam he recited that
[48:07]and then he dictated that and it was written down but he
[48:11]also recited an other he went when he was forced by mut
[48:19]to move from Medina to Sam the Imam went espcially to the
[48:27]Great of IM Ali and over there he recited a in which
[48:35]he praised the IM IM Ali his his his virtues his merits
[48:42]his status who is doing this despite all the oppression despite everything
[48:51]Ali Ali Ali today our children our youth say we are bored
[48:58]with Ali tell us something else I would if the 13 infallibles
[49:08]told us something else yes we talk about contemporary issues yes we
[49:14]talk about our dilemmas and everything and I'm going to talk about
[49:17]contemporary issues in a bit in the second half when I interpret
[49:20]and unfold that Hadith by but never ever take the out from
[49:29]the periphery uh from the center everything else is in the periphery
[49:32]not from the core never ever take will away from the core
[49:42]of our spiritual activity never ever my brothers and sisters this of
[49:49]Ali today we say Al so proudly we say and but at
[49:55]the same time take it for granted people have given their lives
[49:59]all the imams were mared why for what why were the imams
[50:09]mared for of Ali they wanted the the the of Ali the
[50:13]justice of Ali the system of Ali to be implemented and that's
[50:21]why they were mared that's why they were mared so now the
[50:26]Imam did this and the Imam also had other challenges like they
[50:34]were people in those times people who say that the imams are
[50:38]gods and there was one group of who started to say that
[50:42]Imam was God so the Imam had to fight that and he
[50:48]had those kind of challenges and he he did fight those by
[50:54]teaching by training his students his confid his companions who would go
[51:01]out and tell people the truth tell people the and also quickly
[51:04]I want to go through the life of the Imam and tell
[51:09]you some historical interesting historical facts about the children of the Imam
[51:15]and then I'll move on to the second uh part of the
[51:17]lecture more contemporary discussion more self-critical self-reflection but first a little bit
[51:24]more history because it's interesting and also because I Som and humbly
[51:30]very humbly I say because I carry this name nawi so it's
[51:34]a little bit you know because there are people in India and
[51:39]Pakistan who are there's a big group of people who are called
[51:44]nawi and I thought that I would tell you a little bit
[51:46]more about uh where did they come from because this is a
[51:53]huge group of people mostly in the Indian subcontinent who claim their
[51:59]um lineage to Im so how many so some interesting historical facts
[52:07]so how many children did Imam alisam have Imam alisam had one
[52:12]son Hassan imar after that a son Hussein and he he passed
[52:21]away in the life of the Imam and he is reportedly According
[52:27]to some narrations buried in Sam in the same Shrine area where
[52:31]IM and Imam are buried say Hussein is also buried there and
[52:39]then there is third son who was Sayad Muhammad when you go
[52:45]to for Zara uh we go to balad the Village of balad
[52:50]and there is the Zara of say Muhammad he was a great
[52:52]man and he also passed away According to some narrations also in
[52:58]the life of the Imam but he was a great man mut
[53:00]man Pious man and he had some children and through them there
[53:09]are a minority of nawi Sadat who are found in Iraq contemporary
[53:13]Iraq and also parts of India today maybe Pakistan but really minority
[53:19]the majority of say today are the children of the fourth son
[53:29]of IM am ja or ja Al the fourth son who many
[53:37]people call him ja ja Al ja the liar but he's also
[53:42]known as ja the repenter the one who repented so let me
[53:45]tell you this history very important and very interesting to know and
[53:51]there is also a lesson in it for us very important lesson
[53:55]related to our a our beliefs and our mindset and our philosophy
[54:00]so before I tell you jaab there was also one daughter whose
[54:06]name was but according to some narrations her name was so probably
[54:11]maybe I speculate her name was actually but then throughout the history
[54:16]because they didn't use dots and they had different kinds of scripts
[54:20]maybe someone turned intoa but maybe the IM named her AA we
[54:26]don't know any anyway jaur the most interesting person here is jaur
[54:35]Al or ja so what is this the liar or the repenter
[54:38]what's the story the thing is jaur who is today the great
[54:45]great great grandson of today's nakat maybe more than 90% he claimed
[54:51]to be the Imam after Imam Hassan alari Alam was mared IM
[55:03]Hass alari Alam was one of the sons of IM Alam jaur
[55:09]was also one of the sons of IM Alam IM IM hassaram
[55:16]was the IM after Imam when he passed away when he was
[55:19]mared who became the Imam the Imam of our time but Jaffer
[55:26]said no no no No Such Thing exists I am the Imam
[55:31]I am the War I am the heir to my brother Hassan
[55:34]alari what a great sin what a great sin and I don't
[55:42]care if he was my great great great grandfather if he insisted
[55:47]on that we don't care for us he is zero we'll send
[55:51]L on such a person even if it was my real father
[55:54]who did such a thing who went against against the my enemy
[56:02]we don't care but reportedly he did repent afterwards therefore he is
[56:10]called ja now I don't know he repented or he didn't let's
[56:13]hope and pray that he did and he became good but the
[56:21]interesting thing is that all the Sadat NWI Sadat an overwhelming majority
[56:24]of Naka Sadat are his great great children how come because he
[56:31]had 13 children and Subhan Allah all of them were good and
[56:38]mmin their father was a little bit their father had this issue
[56:44]they were all good 13 children they were all good and alhamdulillah
[56:49]through them Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala continued the lineage of the IM
[56:55]Imam so the lesson for us is for us personalities DNA lineage
[56:59]is not important the most important thing is will if someone goes
[57:09]against the can have the DNA of IM in his blood but
[57:16]we send on such a person if he goes against the very
[57:20]important to learn this but there are people who says should have
[57:24]positive approach about we should think positively about ja don't think negatively
[57:34]should have one think positively about him okay let's think positively about
[57:40]him and pray to Allah that if he repented really sincerely oh
[57:44]Allah forgive him but talking about positive approach talking about positive thinking
[57:51]and nowadays everybody says think positively think positively don't have NE negative
[57:57]thinking isn't it nowadays everybody says think positively but the Hadith I'm
[58:05]going to tell you about IM is telling us something else we've
[58:11]been hearing we have we are supposed to have positive thinking positive
[58:16]outlook think positively about others in this beautiful Hadith deep Hadith tells
[58:40]us if the times are such that that justice prevails more than
[58:51]J more than Injustice then it is forbidden to think negatively about
[58:58]anyone unless it is proven that P that they are wrongdoers if
[59:04]there is AD prevalent in the society in times if Justice is
[59:12]more prevalent than Injustice then it is forbidden Haram that you think
[59:18]negatively about someone that you have that you have negative thinking but
[59:23]then the Imam continues and that is the point and pay very
[59:29]good attention the Imam does not want us to live naively and
[59:32]blindly the Imam says and if there is time when J Injustice
[59:46]is more prevalent prevails more than the Justice then then no one
[59:55]should [Music] then no one should think positively about anyone and then
[60:11]he says until it has been proven that they are good so
[60:21]let me again if there is a time when when justice prevails
[60:28]more than Injustice then it is forbidden that you think negatively about
[60:34]someone until it is proven that they're bad but if Injustice prevails
[60:40]more than Justice then don't live naively don't think that they are
[60:46]good until it has been proven that they are good the Imam
[60:52]has a very d word very profound IM IM the speech of
[61:02]IM is the IM of the speech as if the Imam is
[61:07]talking about these times as if the Imam is talking about our
[61:12]times and he uses the words and and let me quickly unfold
[61:19]these two terms for you because I simplistically quickly said Justice and
[61:24]Injustice but these terms are very special does not simply mean Injustice
[61:31]means Justice what kind of Justice to put everything in order to
[61:39]put everything in the right place and give everyone their due right
[61:44]that is doing and never exceeding never crossing the boundaries never crossing
[61:54]the limits that is doing ad but the IM didn't use the
[61:59]word pay very good attention just a minute or two it's very
[62:04]important to understand because it is related to our times the IM
[62:08]said when prevails more than is not simply Injustice Jo is to
[62:18]take someone's right usurp it and then give it to your friends
[62:23]and your relatives with nepotism nepotism J has a big element of
[62:34]nepotism the Imam says when you live in times where Injustice Laden
[62:44]with nepotism prevails over Justice don't live naively and we all have
[62:50]heard the Hadith that a m is never stung twice from the
[62:55]same hole from the same hole of a scorpion or a snake
[62:58]never twice only once a moment should be bitten only once but
[63:03]the Imam is Imam is telling us don't live naively now look
[63:09]at our world if we implement this Hadith and look at this
[63:14]Hadith in the perspective of today's world and different [Music] Arenas law
[63:23]politics governance congregations individual relations and families where is it that J
[63:38]does not exist you tell me where is it that J does
[63:43]not exist in corporates in consultancies in government even in schools in
[63:47]universities even in international relations United Nations how many months it's been
[63:58]the so-called war on Gaza War has two parties fighting the aggression
[64:04]on Gaza has how long has it has it been now 9
[64:11]months and we know that uh it's the double senders that are
[64:19]prevailing anything but Al and everyone knows that in the corporate world
[64:28]in any world it's the relationships that is the vehicle that will
[64:34]take you from one step to the next on the corporate letter
[64:40]is the relationships what kind of world are we living in and
[64:51]I don't want to talk about congregations because I have been told
[64:54]by one of my teachers he has told me that I don't
[64:58]have to talk about these things I have to be very careful
[65:01]so I'm going to avoid the congregations and religious organizations I'm totally
[65:04]going to bypass that that I leave up to you to think
[65:12]and analyze J is everywhere my brothers and sisters this Injustice and
[65:16]you think that the world is nice the politicians are nice they
