[27:17]Muhammad Ali Muhammad [Music] muham [Music] ald [Music] [Music] ald [Music] muham
[29:57]Allah [Music] [Music] Allah Muhammed Muhammad Allah subhanahu waala in the Holy
[30:33]Quran inah 17: 84 he says and everyone acts according to his
[30:36]according to his mold and your Lord knows who is the most
[30:39]rightly guided and Allah the high the wise speaks the truth dear
[30:44]Elders brothers and sisters I hope you're all reaping the benefits of
[30:50]this holy month of Ramadan which IM number 45 the DU you
[31:05]nor to recite in doing Al to the month but our Scholars
[31:09]say you should recite it at the start of the month to
[31:11]understand what sort of month you're going into so that when you
[31:15]say Al you don't miss it as much or you recognize the
[31:17]right of this month he says he says peace be upon you
[31:25]all the greatest of Allah's months and all the for the of
[31:28]subhanahu wa taala we are waiting for the day of at the
[31:33]end of Ramadan but the holy IM is teaching us that the
[31:35]true for theah of Allah is the month of Ramadan because in
[31:39]what other month are we the guests of Allah subhanahu wa taala
[31:43]in which other month is our breathing T of Allah subhanahu wa
[31:46]taala in which other month do we attain so many benefits and
[31:50]rewards from Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala and so we ought to make the
[31:52]most of this holy month of Ramadan and in this holy month
[31:57]we ought to rethink and reflect and start to rewire Our Lives
[32:00]Allah subhanahu wa taala made this holy month to rewire ourselves to
[32:03]completely shift your system to make you think about what you're doing
[32:06]why you're doing it and what direction you're going in Allah subhanahu
[32:10]wa taala wanted the month of Ramadan to be different to other
[32:14]months you know in our nor normal months we we kind of
[32:16]we organize our day through kind of like our food right breakfast
[32:23]lunch break dinner what am I going to eat tonight what am
[32:25]I going to eat tomorrow Allah says no completely flip the system
[32:28]now it should be about something else now your day should be
[32:33]completely shifted now it should be more about about about now your
[32:38]day should be actually wired around Sal not around food your day
[32:43]should be rewired you should be rethinking what am I doing if
[32:46]my day is now wired around what time I'm going to wake
[32:49]up and eat breakfast and go to work what time my lunch
[32:51]break is going to be and what I'm going to eat for
[32:53]dinner at night that means literally our life is centered around work
[32:57]and food Allah subhanahu wa tala says no in this month change
[33:00]it change the pattern rethink what you're doing try to a your
[33:08]day according to and not and try to rewire your day around
[33:13]Allah subhah tala so that you can start to rewire your system
[33:18]and your personality towards Allah subhanahu wa taala so Shah Ramadan was
[33:21]meant to be a shock to the system so that we start
[33:25]to rethink and to rewire our days as we are doing this
[33:26]and we're trying to think about what we're doing doing there's certain
[33:28]actions and things that we can rethink in this holy month and
[33:32]I'm going to pick on an action that I think is extremely
[33:34]simple and extremely small but it's probably one of the most important
[33:37]actions or important things within our lives it is so important that
[33:44]is a of Salat you know in you have and are the
[33:46]five pillars which if you forget it even by mistake your Salat
[33:52]is invalid you forget it by mistake you can make up for
[33:55]it such or Etc and I'm sure you learn this in your
[34:00]madrasa but the ren if you forget it even by mistake your
[34:02]Salat is invalid what is that action I'm going to pick on
[34:08]intention the intention is a very simple act within our lives when
[34:13]you do your intention for Salat do you have to say something
[34:15]no it's not to say your your simply has to be that
[34:20]within yourself I understand I'm praying that's it I don't even have
[34:25]to say it as long as it is Within Myself That is
[34:27]enough yet that that Nia is so important that if you forget
[34:32]to have a your is that Nia is not just that important
[34:35]no it is so important and this is a ruling that I
[34:39]think we don't all know so well ruling 1579 of he says
[34:45]what does say he says if you are fasting month of Ramadan
[34:51]watch your fast he says if your intention starts to differ and
[34:54]you make the decision that you're going to eat something you haven't
[34:59]gone and eat at something you make the decision that I'm fed
[35:03]up of fasting I don't feel like it anymore and you're going
[35:04]to go and eat something the say it says even if you
[35:07]do not eat something your Salat is inv your sorry your fast
[35:10]is invalid why because your intention changed that is how important your
[35:15]intention is that even while you are fasting if you change your
[35:21]intention even if you don't go and eat something even if you
[35:23]don't go and drink something your fast becomes invalid that is how
[35:25]important the Nia is in your actions this simple Act of having
[35:31]an intention is that important within our lives what can I do
[35:34]in this holy month to rethink what is my KN what should
[35:38]I have how can I purify my especially because on the nights
[35:41]of what do we recite we recite what is the holy IM
[35:51]how does he start this Dua he says oh Allah and take
[36:06]my intentions to the best of intentions and make my the best
[36:13]of then again straight after oh Allah bring success to my Nia
[36:20]or bring Purity to my Nia for your gentleness for your subtleness
[36:26]Ya Allah twice in the opening passage of twice the IM mentions
[36:30]the ni and the purity of the ni showing us the importance
[36:33]of the Nia to our day-to-day lives so let us examine what
[36:38]is a ni how can we try to purify our Nia what
[36:43]common things affect us in our Nia and how can we perhaps
[36:44]bring change to our near within our lives and ultimately G closer
[36:47]towards Allah subhanahu waala if I have your permission please muhamad muham
[37:00]one of the most famous traditions of the holy prophet of Islam
[37:08]Muhammad and a Hadith we've all heard growing up your actions are
[37:14]judged by your intentions a Hadith which is very easy to understand
[37:17]of course any action that you perform should be judged according to
[37:20]the intention you perform it with there are many times in our
[37:23]lives we may do an action and the beauty of the near
[37:26]is it's something that you can barely tell tell two people will
[37:30]be praying side by side the Salat will be completely the same
[37:32]the only thing that changes them both or differs between them is
[37:36]what the intention that they have why they are doing what they
[37:40]are doing how pure their intention is for Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala so
[37:43]the near is something that is innate within us and something that
[37:45]is very hard to tell you can't go and judge somebody's near
[37:48]you know people use this against you sometimes but you don't know
[37:52]what I intended but the near is something by which oural is
[37:54]is um judged all of oural are judged by our near which
[37:59]means if we do something good but we intended something bad while
[38:03]the person that you do it for might be happy Allah subhanahu
[38:06]wa ta'ala will not be very happy with that and if you
[38:10]intend to do something good but by mistake you do something which
[38:13]harm somebody depending on what it is as long as your intention
[38:19]was good Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will be forgiving towards you we
[38:22]know it is said in our Traditions that he who does the
[38:24]has the KNE of doing something good he gains one h when
[38:28]he performs that deed he gains another 10 while Allah's Mercy means
[38:33]that when you have a KN for something bad Allah hides it
[38:37]from the Angels who are see writing down your Deeds then when
[38:40]you perform that bad deed you only get one bad deed in
[38:45]your account meaning one for doing something good gains you in your
[38:48]account all you have to do is say I feel like or
[38:51]I wish or I determined to do this action for the sake
[38:53]of Allah subhanahu wa taala automatically that intention gives you a and
[38:58]so the is something which is very beautiful for us we ought
[39:02]to have good all the time that's the first that we can
[39:07]look at when you go a step further into Traditions you find
[39:10]there are other traditions where the they go a step further they
[39:15]say in you find there is aith where the holy IMS are
[39:21]Tau us from that he says that the near of a m
[39:25]is better than his actions the neara is better than his actions
[39:28]now if we look at what we just said and what we
[39:32]just understood from the previous when you have a you gain one
[39:35]when you do the deed you gain 10 but in other Traditions
[39:41]says the is better than your action why because many people can
[39:45]do good deeds without having the correct intention but when you have
[39:50]the correct intentions it shows that the soul is sound and is
[39:54]close to Allah subhanahu wa taala what do I mean when everyone
[39:56]is praying it's easy to go and pray if you're in a
[40:00]Masjid and everyone's reciting Salat or doing Quran it's easy to sit
[40:03]there and do Quran but when somebody from the from the bottom
[40:06]of his heart for no other reason except to please Allah intends
[40:10]to do something good that intention is more purer than simply doing
[40:14]the action because that intention shows that you truly wanted to be
[40:17]close to Allah subhanahu wa taala if you're sitting there and people
[40:21]are reciting Quran and you think let me just join the crowd
[40:23]that's not necessarily something great because you're doing what other people are
[40:27]doing but when you intend it from your heart that is beautiful
[40:30]because Allah subhanahu wa recognizes that you chose to do something for
[40:35]Allah subhanahu waala this is where we find that the Nia where
[40:40]does the Nia originate from it originates from the soul he defines
[40:47]Thea and he says the Nia the intention The Way It Is
[40:53]defined by the is the determination of the soul to perform an
[40:56]action after having thought about it thought about its benefits thought about
[41:01]its necessities and then making the firm will that it will perform
[41:04]that action this is the ni you know when we go to
[41:09]pray Salat for us many of times it's a bodily action I
[41:13]go I say allahar I do the actions and I'm done whereas
[41:16]the start of your Salah should be inside here the soul the
[41:21]start should be with the soul the soul decides that I'm going
[41:24]to pray to Allah subhanahu wa taala which is why I read
[41:27]a beautiful thing from he was talking about aan you know aan
[41:32]is recommended even if you're alone even if you're standing by yourself
[41:35]it is recommended to recite aan someone might question aan is a
[41:39]a call to prayer surely it is something which is social something
[41:41]we do in Mass something we do in society why would I
[41:45]do aan if I'm in the comfort of my own home by
[41:47]myself says aan is the body calling the soul towards worship aan
[41:52]is the body calling the soul towards worship wake up the soul
[41:58]and bring it towards worship neara is when the soul has now
[42:01]decided I'm going to pray towards Allah subhanahu wa taala what's wrong
[42:04]with us when when we pray Salah when we pray Salah our
[42:08]body is in Salat our soul is God knows where right we
[42:11]are preting Salah we going through the motions but the soul is
[42:15]in a different planet because the soul hasn't truly made the Nia
[42:18]the true Nia is when the soul has decided now I'm going
[42:22]to pray towards Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and the body follows the
[42:25]soul in its Nia so the Nia is they firm determination from
[42:28]within oneself that I'm going to do this action this is why
[42:34]in another tradition from IM he says the is the action so
[42:47]we've gone in three hads now on one stage we had is
[42:51]judged by the ni meaning they're two separate things then we had
[42:56]that the ni is greater than the then IM alak goes a
[42:58]step further he says no the ni is the your intention is
[43:03]your action what does he mean he means when the soul has
[43:08]made this determination and this will that it is going to perform
[43:12]this action now the action is completely um combined with the intention
[43:16]now the intention completely overtakes the action all of it is only
[43:20]to do with the intention what to explain this we can go
[43:24]to the body of hadiths where we find many individuals for example
[43:27]in the Battle of J 12 a man comes to and says
[43:32]my brother wanted to join us but he was looking after our
[43:34]parents so he had a valid excuse said did he have the
[43:41]intention to join us and be alongside us the man said yes
[43:43]my brother really wanted to be with us and he's really regretful
[43:46]then says it is as if he is with us and he
[43:50]has gained all of the rewards we have gained the man said
[43:53]how so he said because when a man intends to do something
[43:57]that intention would lead towards action if something stops him Allah does
[44:01]not forbid him of the rewards of that action when you do
[44:05]an a ni and you want to do something that means it
[44:09]will turn into action if something stops you from turning it into
[44:12]action the fact that you had the sincere to do something means
[44:14]that Allah rewards you as if you had done the action Amir
[44:19]goes a step further he says oh my dear companion there are
[44:21]people who are here with us attaining this reward who are still
[44:25]in the loins of men and women are going to be born
[44:28]in CES to come why because there will be people who in
[44:32]the future will read about these battles and say I wish I
[44:38]was alongside the which is why what we say in the of
[44:40]Imus I wish I was with youah there will be people who
[44:45]are in the loins of men and women who they would even
[44:49]they will have the intention and will and desire that they would
[44:51]be with us and Allah will give them the reward of being
[44:56]with us as well so the Nia when you understand the really
[44:58]the Nia is the complete Foundation of Your Action and when the
[45:02]Nia is solid and is pure and is sincere the Nia is
[45:05]the action itself such that the action cannot be separated from the
[45:08]Nia so the Nia is a strong sincere will meaning I can't
[45:14]say and I've heard this before you know you ask you tell
[45:18]somebody there's mosque tonight and they say yeah inshallah inshallah you know
[45:24]the inshah right inshallah then at night time they come you say
[45:30]it's most time let's go to mosque they say ah I'm feeling
[45:32]tired today but I had the intention so I'll gain no that's
[45:38]not an intention a sincere intention is an intention where you wanted
[45:42]to go or you've made the desire that I'm going to do
[45:44]this and only something can only circumstances can stop you from doing
[45:50]it you know you got into your car and your battery went
[45:52]flat that's unavoidable but your intention was so strong that it meant
[45:56]that you wanted to do it so now ni it means intention
[46:02]but actually it combines other characteristics it means determination it means a
[46:07]sincere will and determination to do something a resolve this is why
[46:18]he says when people have good intentions or strong intentions you will
[46:22]see that they will fulfill very lofty Ambitions when somebody has sincere
[46:28]and good intentions and his intention is strong he will gain him
[46:31]and he will be an individual who will fulfill lofty Ambitions why
[46:35]because of the strength of the resolve in this individual he decided
[46:38]he wanted to do something he said he's going to do it
[46:42]and then nothing could stop him except the circumstances of life he
[46:45]wanted to do it and so he went ahead and he did
[46:49]it if we want to be successful in our lives we need
[46:51]to have such intentions sincere pure strong intentions that come from within
[46:56]us and drive us forward what says when somebody has a strong
[47:01]intention it is very rare for him to not be able to
[47:02]fulfill that which he wanted to fulfill why because the Nia inside
[47:09]him was strong and so AA if we Now understand the Nia
[47:12]the Nia is something which is very innate the Nia is a
[47:17]determination The Firm will and desire to do something and the only
[47:19]thing that can stop you is other circumstances otherwise you would perform
[47:22]it when this is the case the Nia is actually greater than
[47:27]the action or rather it is the action itself this is the
[47:30]Nia and this is why we find the Nia is so stressed
[47:35]in Islam that he says to you know in the lengthy advice
[47:49]you may have heard of it has a lengthy advice to and
[47:52]in this advice he says yo you must have an intention for
[47:56]everything that you do even your eating and even you're sleeping subh
[48:04]you must have an intention for everything that you do even your
[48:12]eating and you're sleeping in another tradition he says for the man
[48:16]who has no intention for what he is doing he is written
[48:20]among the the heedless the people who don't really understand what they're
[48:25]doing meaning even before eating you ought to say to your that
[48:28]I am doing this to gain closeness to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[48:31]even before sleeping you ought to say I am doing this to
[48:36]gain closeness to Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala I am sleeping right now to
[48:40]regain energy so that I can serve Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala I
[48:44]am e eating this dish number one this dish is halal number
[48:46]two this dish is going to be enough to carry me on
[48:50]on my day number three I'm not going to overeat in order
[48:52]to slow myself down in the way of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[48:55]number four I'm not going to to eat things which are actually
[48:58]bad for me because this body is an am from Allah subhanahu
[49:03]wa taala all of a sudden when you start to have a
[49:07]KN for everything now life changes the color of Life Changes before
[49:11]we're like robots on autopilots right we click on a button in
[49:13]the morning we start running over a wheel we start doing things
[49:17]you know we just have our routines laid out for us the
[49:19]Nia slows life down wait what are you doing and why are
[49:24]you doing it that why is extremely important and that why is
[49:26]sometimes forget even when it comes to fasting the month of Ramadan
[49:29]comes you'll see some people they go through the motions they fast
[49:32]for the whole month after the month is as if they didn't
[49:35]even fast nothing changes they come to mam every year they do
[49:39]the 10 days they do the morning crying afterwards nothing changes after
[49:43]mam after the Mas they're outside nothing changes why the Nia is
[49:48]not strong Thea has been forgotten the intentions no longer there they're
[49:52]on autopilot they're just running like a hamster over a wheel no
[49:55]Islam said have AA for everything that you do such that everything
[49:59]that you do you're thinking what am I doing why am I
[50:04]doing this is this getting me closer to Allah or is this
[50:06]taking me away from Allah subhanahu wa taala that is the importance
[50:12]of the ni in our religion that everything you do the simplest
[50:14]things that you do and the biggest things that you do you
[50:18]know for us I go to pray Salat I have to have
[50:19]an intention I am about to fast for the month of Ramadan
[50:23]I have to have an intention eating and sleeping going to work
[50:27]these things are I just do them you know they they're just
[50:30]actions no Islam said everything that you do you have to have
[50:32]an intention until the extent what happens in you know we recite
[50:39]these beautiful passages Allah I ask you that you make everything that
[50:56]I do that you make my days and my nights filled with
[51:01]your remembrance your servitude and you make everything that I do for
[51:05]towards you oh sorry and with your int with your servitude that
[51:15]is never ending and you make my actions completely acceptable to you
[51:24]until you make all of my and all of my all of
[51:29]my wills and intentions to be one intention everything I do then
[51:33]emanates from one will and that is to gain closeness to Allah
[51:39]subhanahu waala Ya Allah let me do so many actions for you
[51:41]that in the end all of the things that I do are
[51:45]for one thing only and that is to seek no closeness to
[51:49]Allah subhanahu wa taala Subhan Allah now we've gone full circle we
[51:53]started with what understanding what the ni is we then said that
[51:57]every should have it near but in the end what should happen
[52:01]in the end what should happen is our being should be such
[52:04]that our near is already engraved within ourselves such that everything that
[52:08]we do is for Allah subhanahu wa taala we have to start
[52:13]with the process we do every action and we say I'm doing
[52:16]this I'm doing this I'm doing this until it becomes such second
[52:20]nature that everything that I do automatically I'm thinking what does Allah
[52:25]want from me right now what what would Allah want me to
[52:30]do in this action right now what is best in the eyes
[52:34]of Allah right now this is when the being is not completely
[52:38]overtaken by one ni and this is why you find in of
[52:50]the verse I recited at the start say everyone acts according to
[52:58]his own mold his own sh IM says sh here means his
[53:03]intentions his KN everyone is molded by his intentions and everyone acts
[53:09]according to the intentions he has molded within himself and your Lord
[53:13]knows who the most rightly guided one is with his intentions then
[53:16]IM carries on and he says know that those who are in
[53:21]Hellfire the reason why they are eternally in Hellfire is because they
[53:25]always had bad intentions and therefore if they were going to remain
[53:29]on this Earth forever more no matter what Deeds they did whether
[53:34]they were good or bad their intentions were always bad so there
[53:36]would always be bad people and know that the people who are
[53:38]in heaven forever more those who have achieved Eternal Bliss they have
[53:44]achieved Eternal Bliss because they always had good KN therefore on this
[53:48]Earth whenever they acted their near was always pure and for the
[53:53]sake of Allah subhanahu wa taala and that's and then he recites
[53:57]this verse he says the are those who they have purified their
[54:03]intentions such that everything that they do you know this this verse
[54:07]is beautiful it says sh and says sh is actually intentions meaning
[54:11]your intentions mold your being your intentions mold your inner State your
[54:17]intentions mold the human being you become now let's look at two
[54:23]things that destroy our Nas and we know and the have taught
[54:25]us that the most thing thatan attacks us with is our because
[54:31]sometimes you know Shan comes and he tries to get you to
[54:35]do evil sometimes we're strong we keep away from Temptations then Shan
[54:37]comes he tries to get you to stop doing bad Deeds but
[54:40]sometimes we're strong and alhamdulillah we do good deeds so he gets
[54:44]us to try stop doing good deeds sometimes we're strong we are
[54:46]able to do good deeds sometimes we're in a beautiful Community like
[54:48]this one we come to the musos and we do good deeds
[54:52]so Shan then goes after what your intention because now if he
[54:55]gets your intention it doesn't matter how many Good Deeds that you
[54:59]do he has attacked the very core of your deeds and now
[55:03]none of it's going to be acceptable to Allah subh so the
[55:06]most subtle thing that Shan attacks within our lives is our intentions
[55:10]our mindsets whether we're doing it for Allah or for something else
[55:14]the two biggest things that affect our in our lives are two
[55:17]diseases one is known as the other is known as number one
[55:22]in our Traditions is translated as self admiration there are some individuals
[55:28]who after doing acts of worship and Good Deeds they start to
[55:31]feel better about themselves they start to feel like they've done so
[55:36]many good deeds and that they're a good person they have achieved
[55:39]the Bliss of Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala you know almost to an extent
[55:43]sometimes the tradition state that some people who have they feel like
[55:45]they have done favors towards Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala Ya Allah how many
[55:49]times have I been on Haj how much charity have I given
[55:53]to the religion of Islam how much charity have I given in
[55:55]my life I'm definitely going to heaven this is self- admiration you
[56:02]did good deeds but now you admire yourself you feel like you've
[56:04]done so much good in your life that you think you're such
[56:08]a great human being at this level you're not necessarily even showing
[56:11]off you just think a lot of yourself I pray so much
[56:13]Salat I must how can I go to hell you know it's
[56:17]a bygo conclusion how many thousands have I given in how many
[56:21]centers have I funded how many centers have I donated to How
[56:27]can I go to hell no no chance I'm a good guy
[56:31]this is known as when somebody starts to admire himself IM he
[56:42]says that actually says to his um his his people that when
[56:48]an a servant is Afflicted with then don't worry about how many
[56:52]Good Deeds they do let them do as many Good Deeds as
[56:55]they want because now everything that that they do is only feeding
[56:57]that ego of their everything they do is not for Allah subhanahu
[57:02]wa taala it's really for that ego inside now when they pray
[57:07]they pray to make themselves feel good now when they give s
[57:11]they give s to say look I gave s i funded that
[57:16]I want my name here etc etc they do things they do
[57:20]it for themselves they don't do it purely for the sake of
[57:24]Allah subhanahu waala the first thing thatan does sometimes is get you
[57:27]to admire yourself the second thing and this is perhaps more common
[57:34]is showing off it is narrated famously from muham that I fear
[57:43]for you the Min the companion said what do you mean by
[57:48]the minor he said I fear for you showing off we sometimes
[57:54]showing off is for some reason a human natural trait we enjoy
[57:59]to show off we enjoy the praise of other individuals we enjoy
[58:02]kind of recognition among individuals and especially in the social media life
[58:06]we live in now we love likes and we love recognition you
[58:12]know we love attention attention is the the currency of social media
[58:15]the only part the partial reason you go on social media is
[58:17]to gain attention otherwise why are we posting about our lives all
[58:22]the time you know praying Sal at night you take a picture
[58:24]of the Mah and you put it on # Sal this is
[58:29]very dangerous because now and the Traditions are very clear on the
[58:34]day of judgment the one who was a show who showed off
[58:36]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will say oh fraud oh treacherous one oh
[58:40]liar you did not do these actions for my sake you did
[58:45]these actions for the sake of people now go and seek your
[58:51]reward from those same people on your on that when we are
[58:53]between Heaven and Hell Allah subhanahu wa taala will say your Deeds
[58:55]you didn't do them for me you did those deeds so that
[59:00]people could Praise You Now go to those people and see what
[59:02]rewards they can give you on this day seems to be a
[59:08]human need but unfortunately it is something that takes us away from
[59:11]Allah subhanahu wa taala in trying to cure we have a beautiful
[59:14]advice from man comes to and he says I I cannot stop
[59:24]showing off I I it's consider I just love the recognition of
[59:29]people said to him show off all you want the man said
[59:34]wait wait wa I said I love showing off I said I
[59:38]want to stop what do I do and said show off all
[59:44]you want I don't I don't understand says show off all you
[59:46]want but show off only to Allah subhanahu wa taala don't show
[59:48]off towards the people you want to show off go to Allah
[59:53]subhah wa taala and say Allah I'm trying hard now Ya Allah
[59:57]I'm trying harder to do more Good Deeds yeah Allah I want
[59:59]you to recognize my good deeds and to give me more if
[60:03]you want recognition see recognition only from Allah subhanahu wa tala don't
[60:07]seek recognition from the people don't seek to make yourself feel better
[60:10]about yourself or to have people come and say you're a good
[60:13]person you know in he says the are people who when people
[60:25]come and praise them they say that I know myself better than
[60:29]you do and Allah knows me better than you do as well
[60:30]yeah Allah forgive me that which they don't know about me and
[60:36]correct me correct in me that which they have not seen in
[60:38]me the person who is a when people come and praise him
[60:44]he's very cautious he recognizes the praise but he says yeah Allah
[60:46]I know I could always be better Ya Allah I know I
[60:49]have flaws that you have hidden from people he's always cautious about
[60:53]himself conscious of himself this is the m so to purify the
[60:57]intentions and take it away from these two things are very important
[61:01]not to allow ourselves to be seeking the pleasure from people not
[61:05]allowing ourselves to show off towards others or even to feel good
[61:09]within ourselves you know the the if I'm not mistaken it was
[61:13]I may be mistaken there was one um Grand who was on
[61:17]his he was towards his last days and they could tell that
[61:22]he's passing away his students came to him and they could see
[61:25]him doing a lot of and they they said to him oh
[61:29]you know why are you you seem so scared you seem so
[61:31]jittery what are you scared of you're an you're an you've given
[61:36]laws FAS you've told people you've done so much what are you
[61:39]scared of he said how do I know Allah has accepted any
[61:44]of my actions how do I know Allah has accepted any of
[61:47]my actions even on his death bed he is doing more why
[61:51]because he has that humility I did this for the sake of
[61:53]Allah it is his decision to accept it or not and so
[61:57]I continuously do this is the individual who is grounded in whose
[62:02]knas are truly for the sake of Allah subhanahu waala and so
[62:05]we conclude with a few pointers or a few practical points how
[62:08]can we purify ourselves and our knas for the sake of Allah
[62:13]subah waala number one again in says something really amazing he says
[62:25]the the greatness of the Creator is forever before their eyes and
[62:30]therefore everything besides him seems low in their eyes the greatness of
[62:35]the Creator is fixated before them and so everything else seems quite
[62:40]low before them now when we recognize the grandor of Allah subhanahu
[62:43]wa taala that is the first step in making our Nia and
[62:49]our heart sincere to turn towards Allah subhanahu wa taala the reason
[62:53]why our actions become insincere is why because we we don't recognize
[62:57]the grander of Allah we don't recognize that our reward lies in
[62:59]the hands of Allah our punishment lies in the hands of Allah
[63:04]that it is only Allah who is worth our time it is
[63:08]only Allah who is worth praying towards when the greatness of the
[63:11]Creator is in ourselves then we will start to do everything only
[63:14]for him and for nobody except him and so the first step
[63:19]read about Allah subhanahu wa taala appreciate the beauty of Allah when
[63:21]you're reciting recite these duas and appreciate Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala the
[63:28]second step your actions at home should be the same if not
[63:35]better than your actions in the public your actions at home should
[63:39]exceed the actions you do in public you know there are some
[63:43]people in public you see them praying mashallah at home this person
[63:48]is lazy that is a sign of somebody who is not sincere
[63:52]towards Allah subhanahu wa taala because sincerity means in private and in
[63:57]public you are either the same or in private you do more
[64:01]than you do in public that's why even we are taught it
[64:03]should be a very simple J it should be something that is
[64:07]easy for the people to digest everyone is okay with it everyone
[64:09]can hack it not that in your you suddenly come and you're
[64:14]reciting long duas and showing off how much you know and how
[64:16]much must you do know in public your Salat should be either
[64:22]the same or shorter than your Salat in private if not if
[64:25]it's not already the case is make it a habit to do
[64:29]certain things in private that you don't do in public you know
[64:37]on this point he even has another concept called says there are
[64:48]some individuals who they start off with a pure ni But as
[64:49]time goes on Shan gets to him and the Nia starts to
[64:56]become insincere for example somebody recite last week he started reciting Sal
[65:02]last week he started reciting it every night at first this is
[65:05]a private that he started no one knows about it that is
[65:09]sincere says he's got it he's got it unlock he's got theal
[65:14]done he's doing it sincerely for Allah then a time comes and
[65:17]he's talking to his friends and suddenly they start they talk about
[65:22]the storm last night last night it was a there was a
[65:25]crazy storm outside and and he goes yeah I know when I
[65:29]woke up for Sal I could hear it when I woke up
[65:34]for Sal I could hear the storm he says nowan got to
[65:36]him he started off with a sincere action But as time went
[65:40]on he could not keep it sincere he could not stop that
[65:43]temptation of telling people about what he did and so his starts
[65:49]to become less and less sincere meaning you can do a sincere
[65:52]action today but you could ruin that by telling others about about
[65:57]it later or you could ruin that by actually trying to show
[66:00]off about it later on and so your private life should have
[66:04]more in your public life and there should be some things that
[66:07]nobody knows about except Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala not even your family even
[66:12]if it just be one tus you do before you go to
[66:16]sleep or if if it just be the amount of Quran you
[66:17]recite at a certain time of the day when no one knows
[66:20]what you're doing or the charity that you give you know nowadays
[66:23]giving charity is so easy the charity that you give you know
[66:26]on a very regular occasion and nobody knows about it except you
[66:29]your family doesn't know your parents don't know it's just something you
[66:32]do it's a habit you you've done it and you just do
[66:35]it for Allah subhanahu wa taala you make it you know I
[66:38]would even say try not to do it as a direct debit
[66:39]do it the action of doing charity is very beneficial for you
[66:43]but it's something that you do but nobody else knows about it
[66:46]as small as it might be those small winds that you have
[66:50]in your life will help you to purify that soul of yours
[66:52]these two practical points are very strong firstly understanding who Allah subhanahu
[66:57]wa taala is and that your reward is with him secondly making
[67:00]your private life probably more in terms of worship than your public
[67:07]life after this the final thing and to be a this is
[67:09]probably another lecture in itself it's to not given to feedback this
[67:15]one I think does deserve another lecture but there are some hadiths
[67:19]from the that say a m and I believe it's from imak
[67:24]he says a mmin will never attain the highest station until he
[67:27]is able to perform his and not worry about the feedback of
[67:34]people at all now this is a journey you know we do
[67:37]certain things and you know depending on what position you are in
[67:41]the community what you do in the community how active you are
[67:43]sometimes you'll do things which have to be open you'll make decisions
[67:45]which have to be open let's say you're the trustee of a
[67:48]mosque and you have to make a certain decision put your foot
[67:50]down or something which is religious there will be people that come
[67:53]at you from all sides the person with the best Nia or
[67:59]the person who is the purest Nia is the person who does
[68:01]it thinking about what does Allah want and then he doesn't Flinch
[68:04]according to what people say but this is a person who is
[68:09]well aware of what Allah wants in every case who knows exactly
[68:12]what he's doing and that it's correct completely and therefore no one
[68:15]can sway his opinion in our case perhaps we can say you
[68:20]should have conviction in what you're doing but you can listen and
[68:22]assess feedback based on what you're doing because we're on a journey
[68:28]this is where I think you know he says something beautiful he
[68:32]Allah grant me grants me a well-guided intention that I have no
[68:45]doubt about whatsoever that my intention my resolve is so strong I
[68:49]know what I'm doing is right and no one's going to deter
[68:52]me from this in your life you'll have many different examples and
[68:54]many different challenges with this could be in your family life and
[68:59]you have to put your foot down and say at home we
[69:00]are not going to do this one action or we're not going
[69:02]to drink this drink or we're not going to watch this TV
[69:05]serial why because it's Haram or we're going to stop this okay
[69:09]our family's done it for you know the last 10 years but
[69:12]we're going to stop it why because it is that which is
[69:16]best in the eyes of Allah subhanahu wa taala that near that
[69:19]resolve to do that is difficult but IM Al says you have
[69:23]to be an individual who's able to know what you're doing then
[69:26]feedback can't sway you from Allah subhanahu waala this I think does
[69:32]deserve another day inshallah so if I have the of coming back
[69:33]we'll discuss it further but the two main ones the two main
[69:38]um advices make sure that your private life is better than your
[69:41]public life when it comes to your and always have Allah subhanahu
[69:43]wa taala in your sights always try to understand Allah greater and
[69:46]appreciate the grander of Allah within your life for surely when you
[69:50]have appreciated the grander of Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala you'll feel like doing
[69:53]everything for him and for no one accept him we could maybe
[69:58]even expand this to say you know in Du and all of
[69:59]our duas we mentioned the bounties of Allah the favors of Allah
[70:04]the blessings of Allah when you appreciate all these favors you realize
[70:08]why would I do something for anyone except Allah subhah waala why
[70:13]would I pay attention to anyone except Allah subhanahu wa taala and
[70:17]so when we can start to do this inshallah our internal self
[70:22]will be completely turned towards Allah and then Our intention can be
[70:26]purified and all the actions that we do can have a purified
[70:29]intention so that we can only seek Allah subhanahu wa taala within
[70:33]our lives I'd like to leave you with this one story story
[70:35]that you've all heard many times in your life but just to
[70:38]again push home that point of a sincere pure intention an intention
[70:43]that's not even mixed you know sometimes Our intention we pray Salat
[70:46]I don't know in in the community we do it for Allah
[70:51]but partly we want people to recognize us so it's like a
[70:54]partial a mixed intention many of you know on the Battle of
[70:58]had a great test at that time he was fighting the narration
[71:04]say the fight became very heavy very heated and the dust started
[71:08]to come up eventually they saw strike to the ground and as
[71:14]he was about to strike him suddenly he stood up he walked
[71:17]away he came back and then he finished him they said oh
[71:23]why did you stand up walk away and then come back he
[71:25]said the first time I was about to strike him he spat
[71:29]at me at that point if I had struck him I would
[71:35]have struck him out of my anger but I don't strike out
[71:37]of my anger I strike out of the anger of Allah subhanahu
[71:42]wa taal so I stood up I walked away I came back
[71:47]to make sure that when I strike him at that time I
[71:49]strike him for No One except Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala understand this
[71:53]point think about it if he had struck him at that time
[71:57]would we have questioned the intentions of would we have said he
[72:01]didn't do it for Allah subhanahu wa tala no chance he stands
[72:05]up and remember this is a battle right this is the heat
[72:08]of battle against the enemy of Allah subhanahu wa taala what did
[72:13]say so it's an intense battle against one of the embodiment of
[72:18]is having a difficult fight the sand is already in the atmosphere
[72:23]it's a very heavy fight he has him on the floor now
[72:25]you imagine you're in the heat of battle you're about to finish
[72:30]your enemy and your enemy spits at you would we even have
[72:35]blamed Amir for saying I struck him for Allah's sake but I
[72:37]did want to get him as well but Amir stood up walked
[72:43]away and came back and he said I strike only purely 100%
[72:49]only for Allah the fact that he spat at me should make
[72:52]no difference to my strike perhaps that's why Allah says the strike
[73:08]of Ali on the day of is greater than the the one
[73:19]strike of how does that one strike gain such a such a
[73:21]that it is better than all of our until because of the
[73:27]purity of that intention the purity of that ni that Nia was
[73:30]purely for Allah in the hardest of circumstances that is our role
[73:41]model we pray to Allah subhanahu waala that he allows us to
[73:46]purify our and our internal s so that we can be pure
[73:49]and seek nearness to him in we pray to Allah to allow
[73:51]us to follow the examples ofit in our life and to resurrect
[73:55]us alongside the bit we pray to Allah for all of those
[73:56]who are suffering around the world whether it be from illness or
[73:58]from the effects of warrior Allah you grant them relief and you
[74:02]ultimately hasten the re of the IM of our time so that
[74:03]we can establish justice in this world we pray to Allah but
