[0:00]Oh man,ch.

[4:11][Music] for Ash for [Music] you.
[5:22]Love him.
[5:25][Music] allayikum brothers and sisters.
[5:44]Thank you for attending our Thursday night program.
[5:46]Tonight inshallah we are going to have an exciting topic uh migrating
[5:50]to God.
[5:51]Um, it's one of those topics that I like when you look
[5:56]at on the flyers and say you pick those titles with some
[5:59]mystery and you tell yourself that sounds interesting.
[6:01]I'm going to go and attend.
[6:03]So, inshallah we look forward today for uh this interesting topic.
[6:08]Um, quickly a couple announcements before we start with the say.
[6:13]Uh, tomorrow our youth have a bonfire at 9:00 p.m.
[6:19]On Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
[6:20]we have our fourth annual uh cemetery um cleanup at the United
[6:27]Memorial Gardens uh in Plymouth.
[6:32]Um also on the 13th and Saturday inshallah we have a family
[6:36]picnic at Mayberry Park.
[6:37]We'll send the uh flyer inshallah with the details later.
[6:43]Now without further um ado, let's welcome.
[6:59]Alhamdulillah.
[7:16]for the path.
[7:35]to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is a path that is filled with
[7:45]obstacles.
[7:44]In fact, any path that you take, whether it's to God or
[7:51]away from God, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tests people.
[7:53]The believers tested and the non-believers tested.
[7:58]However, the path to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, those who place themselves
[8:06]on the path to God, they find themselves constantly being tested.
[8:12]And that is because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala wants people to go
[8:20]to heaven.
[8:21]But just like everything in this dunya, nothing is free.
[8:25]Heaven is also not free.
[8:27]And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has guaranteed and promised us in numerous
[8:33]verses in the Quran that we will go through a series of
[8:41]tests and trials.
[8:41]In one verse Allah says, do people think that they're going to
[8:53]be left?
[8:51]They just just because I said a just because I said I
[8:57]believe that I'm not going to be tested.
[8:59]So we see that the mman is always tested.
[9:04]And when a believer is in an environment that is unhealthy, in
[9:12]an environment that is against faith, a toxic environment, holding on to
[9:20]faith becomes even more difficult.
[9:22]It becomes even more challenging.
[9:26]And this is what we Muslims living in America, Muslims living in
[9:32]the West, this is the exa, this is the test, the trial
[9:34]that many Muslims feel and deal with.
[9:37]Maybe in if you're living in a predominantly Muslim country, you don't
[9:42]have, for example, the problem of hijab or halal food or peer
[9:51]pressure or people that are Islamophobic against Islam.
[9:55]You don't have to deal with that.
[9:57]Maybe you have other trials.
[9:58]Maybe you have other challenges that you have to deal with.
[10:00]But here for a Muslim to hold on to their faith, they
[10:06]find themselves struggling.
[10:06]They find themselves going through challenges.
[10:10]And in this scenario, you have two options.
[10:16]When you are in an atmosphere, when you're in an environment that
[10:22]is toxic, that is against your faith, that is against your religion,
[10:27]you have two options.
[10:27]The first option is that you have to try and struggle to
[10:35]fix your environment.
[10:39]If you if you are put in a bad place, you're in
[10:43]a classroom, you're in a setting that is unhealthy, that is unislamic,
[10:47]you have to try your best to fix your environment.
[10:51]And this is what logic tells us.
[10:54]This is what common sense tells us.
[10:56]And this is what the teachings of Islam and the teachings of
[10:59]the Quran tell us to fix your environment.
[11:01]But if you were not able to fix your environment, if you
[11:07]tried and tried and tried, what is your next option?
[11:12]You leave.
[11:14]It's as simple as that.
[11:17]If you are in a bad environment, if you're in a room
[11:21]that is killing you, if you're in a place that is destroying
[11:27]you and you tried to fix it and you were unable to
[11:29]fix it and you tried and tried and tried, you reach a
[11:35]point where you have to be able to move away.
[11:39]And this is the concept of hijra in Islam.
[11:44]Hra means going.
[11:47]You go somewhere else.
[11:47]You travel.
[11:49]Allah subhana wa ta'ala says, "Isn't the land of God vast enough?"
[11:55]Some of us, we have the idea that I have to be
[11:58]in this place.
[11:59]I have to be in this toxic environment.
[12:01]I have to stay here.
[12:02]My life should remain miserable forever.
[12:04]No.
[12:04]Allah subhana ta says, "If you're not comfortable here, go over there.
[12:09]Go somewhere else." It's as simple as that.
[12:12]And when we look at the prophets of Allah subhana wa ta'ala
[12:19]in the Quran, we see that the prophets their number one goal,
[12:22]their number one objective was to fix their environment, fix their atmosphere.
[12:28]They struggled, they worked day and night.
[12:34]He he tried all methods to invite his people to change.
[12:43]Mus Alisam he tried all methods in Mecca all of the prophets
[12:48]they did but you see that some prophets in the Quran Allah
[12:51]describes that they had to leave their community that's it they reached
[12:56]a point where they had to migrate prophet Ibraimisam prophet Ibraim he
[13:03]had several has several migrations he was born in in they go
[13:09]and they throw him in the Then what does he do?
[13:14]He leaves.
[13:17]Say, I'm going to my Lord.
[13:21]My Lord will guide me.
[13:21]My Lord will show me the way.
[13:23]Some of us when we're in bad situations, we're in a horrible
[13:29]atmosphere, whether it's career, whether it's a relationship, whether it's a a
[13:35]place that you're living.
[13:35]We think that this has been written down upon us in the
[13:37]Quran that I have to remain miserable my whole life.
[13:40]No.
[13:41]Allah subhana wa ta'ala says if you're not comfortable in one place
[13:45]go somewhere else.
[13:48]The prophets they migrated the prophets they left.
[13:52]Misam prophet MS he ended up leaving.
[13:59]He was he he grew up and he was born in Egypt
[14:00]and he was raised in the house of but then once he
[14:05]he grew up and he saw the constant clash and the constant
[14:09]struggle.
[14:10]He's a mman he's a faithful and an environment that is toxic.
[14:17]Either he has to join them or he has to give up
[14:17]on his own principles.
[14:20]Musa he couldn't his his own principles did not allow him.
[14:25]He he goes and he saves one of his people.
[14:28]They find him and there's a clash.
[14:30]So what ends up happening?
[14:31]He becomes a fugitive.
[14:36]Allah says in the Quran he he escaped.
[14:45]He escaped as a fugitive.
[14:46]And we see that he also left Mecca.
[14:54]And these days are the days of the hij of in the
[14:59]beginning of the month of the prophet migrated in the 13th year
[15:05]after the hijra of he he left.
[15:08]Why?
[15:09]Because they conspired against him.
[15:10]They tried to kill him.
[15:13]He reached a point where there was no more growth.
[15:15]That's it.
[15:16]Anyone who was going to change, anyone who had already accepted the
[15:20]message, they accepted it.
[15:21]But there was a point where there was no more growth.
[15:25]That's it.
[15:27]And the prophet is not just living in Mecca because he wants
[15:30]to eat and drink and live comfortably.
[15:34]Sall he had a mission.
[15:36]He had a goal.
[15:38]And that goal was to invite people to the message of Islam
[15:41]to guide people.
[15:43]But when he reached a point that that's it, there's no more
[15:45]guidance and they're hindering and they're stopping any further guidance, he left.
[15:51]And Allah says in the Quran, they try to stop you.
[15:58]They try to contain you and control you or to kill you
[16:03]or to kick you out.
[16:08]But then if you're with God, Allah says in the Quran, they
[16:16]plan, they plot, they scheme.
[16:20]But sometimes people forget that Allah is also a planner.
[16:23]God also has a plan.
[16:24]Today when we are seeing the Muslims and the devastation and all
[16:29]of this horrible things and every it seems like everyone is working
[16:33]against you.
[16:34]Everyone's working against the Muslims.
[16:36]Especially if you're a follower of the you see everyone turning against
[16:41]you.
[16:40]We need to remind ourselves they plot but God also plans as
[16:48]well.
[16:48]And Allah is the best of the planners.
[16:51]This is something that we should never forget in the most difficult
[16:55]moments in our lives.
[16:56]So now this concept of hijra this is a logical concept.
[17:01]If you are in a place where you cannot practice your faith,
[17:05]you cannot practice your religion, then what do you have to do?
[17:13]Your solution is to leave.
[17:13]Go somewhere else.
[17:13]And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala after the prophet migrated and there were
[17:20]a series of migrations.
[17:20]There was a migration in the fifth year after Hijra.
[17:24]A group of Muslims migrate.
[17:25]The prophet sent them to Ethiopia to Abiscinia.
[17:29]And then the prophet tried he tried to migrate to he goes
[17:35]but they they turn against him.
[17:37]Then after the 13th year after Hijra the prophet chose Medina and
[17:40]tomorrow in Friday prayer I'm going to talk about why the prophet
[17:46]chose Medina.
[17:45]But he ended up migrating.
[17:51]And a group of Muslims, a group of Muslims, they did not
[17:55]travel.
[17:56]They stayed in Mecca.
[17:58]And then the kufur, they would come and they would bully them.
[18:01]They would tell them, "Okay, now you have to worship this idol.
[18:03]Now you need to eat this food.
[18:06]You need to do this and you need to do that." Then
[18:09]some of them died and they had they were forced to do
[18:14]haram.
[18:12]They were forced to do kufur.
[18:16]So a verse in the Quran came down.
[18:22]Those who at the time of death they're oppressing themselves.
[18:27]Why?
[18:28]Because they put themselves in a toxic atmosphere.
[18:30]They put themselves in a place where they cannot practice their faith.
[18:36]Right now there are some countries where if I go and I
[18:38]live in that community, I'm not going to be able to practice
[18:42]my faith.
[18:41]Alhamdulillah.
[18:41]We live in here.
[18:44]We have the freedom.
[18:45]We have the opportunity to practice.
[18:46]No one is telling you take off your hijab.
[18:49]No one is telling you you cannot pray.
[18:51]No one is telling you you cannot.
[18:52]In fact, here maybe we have more freedom than we have in
[18:58]other places.
[18:57]But there are some countries where they will force you like you
[19:01]know they say in the news the weaguers in China they force
[19:03]them to drink alcohol.
[19:06]They force them, now I don't know how accurate this is or
[19:08]where where this is, but they force some of them to eat
[19:13]pork or in some schools in Europe, in France, public schools, they
[19:17]force the girls to take off their hijab in the public schools.
[19:20]Alhamdulillah, we don't have that here.
[19:21]But Allah subhana ta says in the Quran that if that were
[19:27]to come up and we end up doing as a result of
[19:31]I'm staying in my place, And then the angels, the angels are
[19:44]going to tell them, "Where were you?
[19:45]Why did you not leave?" They say, "Oh, we were the weakened.
[19:52]We were weak in the land.
[19:54]We had no power." And then the angels tell them, "Wasn't the
[20:01]land of God vast enough for you to leave?
[20:05]If you can't practice here, go somewhere else and practice." [Music] Allah
[20:11]says, "Those who have the opportunity to leave a toxic environment." Now,
[20:16]some people say, "I don't have the opportunity.
[20:20]I can't.
[20:22]I'm stuck here." then that person there's a different case.
[20:25]But if someone has the opportunity and they stick around in a
[20:29]horrible place that does not allow them to practice their faith, then
[20:35]Allah subhana wa ta'ala says that these people, Allah will hold them
[20:37]accountable.
[20:38]And this is a lesson for us.
[20:42]So here we learn that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala when you migrate
[20:51]to God when you leave for the sake of Allah subhana wa
[20:54]tala and this is maybe it could be leaving a job maybe
[21:00]it could be leaving a relationship you know some I see some
[21:03]relationships one person says my partner drinks my partner does this my
[21:07]partner does does things that are haram so here the common sense
[21:13]tells you leave this relationship.
[21:15]Don't stick around with someone who's making you get further away from
[21:18]Allah subhanana wa ta'ala.
[21:20]You when we look at the prophets Allah, Ibraim, MS, all of
[21:25]the prophets that migrated, did their lives become better or worse?
[21:29]Their lives became better.
[21:32]And this is the fear of migration.
[21:35]This is the fear of fear of hijra.
[21:37]We we we get comfortable really quick.
[21:39]We get too content with a horrible scenario that we're in.
[21:43]We don't change.
[21:46]But then Allah shows that if you make that step, Allah will
[21:50]open doors for you.
[21:53]And here Allah says in the Quran, the one who does migration
[22:00]in the way of Allah.
[22:07]Allah says you will see two things.
[22:11]You migrate in the way of Allah, you're going to see obstacles.
[22:14]There's no question about that.
[22:15]But life is full of obstacles, but you will also see sah
[22:18]meaning you will see freedom.
[22:21]You will see opportunities.
[22:22]You will see more doors opening.
[22:23]And this is the rule in life.
[22:26]When Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala closes one door for you, Allah will
[22:31]open other doors.
[22:33]Allah is not going to keep you in the dark.
[22:37]And here we need to practice that that hij that concept of
[22:44]hijra.
[22:44]Now when I when we talk about hijra hijra doesn't necessarily mean
[22:49]that I have to get my passport ready and sell my house
[22:54]and leave you know go to go live in another country that
[23:00]that does there are multiple forms of hijra.
[23:01]There's the physical hijra where sometimes you have to physically get yourself
[23:06]out of a toxic environment.
[23:08]Physically get yourself out of a toxic atmosphere.
[23:13]And then there's also the metaphysical hijra.
[23:17]There's the hijra that is in the heart, the hijra in the
[23:19]mind, the hijra in your actions, the hijra in your social circles.
[23:26]So for example, if my soul is too attached to worldly desires,
[23:31]too attached to this dunya, then that means I need to have
[23:38]my soul have a migration and my soul needs to move and
[23:41]detach from this dunya and let it attach to something greater and
[23:45]that is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[23:51]if I'm too attached to sins.
[23:51]Some of us, we get addicted to a lifestyle of sinning and
[23:55]that's it.
[23:56]We find ourselves attached.
[23:57]You tell this person, "Why don't you stop?" They say, "I can't.
[24:02]I can't.
[24:01]I'm I'm stuck." This requires detachment.
[24:06]You need to get up, move your heart and attachment from that
[24:10]which holds you down and away from Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[24:14]And then you will be able to attach yourself to that which
[24:18]is closer.
[24:18]Have a spiritual hijra.
[24:21]Maybe I need to change my lifestyle.
[24:24]And I've seen I've seen just as physically moving yourself from a
[24:29]toxic environment to a healthy environment is going to change you spiritually.
[24:33]You'll also be changed.
[24:36]I have I see some people, you know, I know some people
[24:38]that have really gone through the change and they've, you know, I've
[24:42]gone through it with them, explaining to them and and seeing their
[24:45]experiences as they've changed.
[24:49]You see that a year ago, two years ago, this person was
[24:52]living this type of lifestyle and slowly they detach and slowly they
[24:56]move and they move and they get closer and closer to Allah.
[25:00]And when you talk to them, they say, "I feel a sense
[25:03]of completion.
[25:02]I feel a sense of accomplishment.
[25:04]I feel a sense of fulfillment and happiness because now I'm not
[25:10]attached to this dunya.
[25:12]I'm not attached to that which brings you away from Allah subhanana
[25:17]wa ta'ala.
[25:19]Another type of hijra is hijra from social circles.
[25:21]You know how a bad social circle, a bad group of friends,
[25:28]how destructive that is for your faith, for your life, for your
[25:31]afterlife, for everything that you have.
[25:33]It will destroy everything.
[25:37]Maybe one bad friend could bring you away from the right track.
[25:40]Could destroy everything for you.
[25:42]The simplest thing is to walk away.
[25:45]The simplest The simplest thing is to leave that toxicity.
[25:47]And this is a type of hijra.
[25:50]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala leaving that bad friend, leaving that bad circle,
[25:54]leaving that bad career, leaving that bad environment, Allah subhanana wa ta'ala
[26:00]will give you the reward of the the one who migrates in
[26:05]the way of Allah subhanaa tala because that's what it takes.
[26:09]And sometimes a lot of us, we say, I want to have
[26:15]faith, but I'm not willing to let go of the bad.
[26:18]I'm not willing to leave the bad.
[26:19]We want to have both.
[26:23]You can't have both.
[26:22]You have to leave one so that you could join the other.
[26:28]You can't be on the side of Allah and Islam and the
[26:31]B and also be on the side of the enemies of the
[26:33]prophet.
[26:33]You have to leave one to in order to be with the
[26:38]others.
[26:38]So this is when it comes to religion, when it comes to
[26:41]faith.
[26:42]And then there's also at a personal level hijra meaning that if
[26:48]a lot of people they come and they say I feel miserable
[26:50]at my job.
[26:51]This has nothing to do with religion.
[26:53]But if you're not happy with your job Allah subhana t how
[26:56]many lives does he give us?
[26:57]Allah subhana t gives you one life.
[27:00]Do something that you enjoy.
[27:03]Do something that you feel a sense of fulfillment a sense of
[27:08]satisfaction.
[27:06]Some people you see them they're living miserable lives.
[27:10]I'm stuck with this job 9 to5.
[27:12]Why?
[27:13]Because of the money even though it doesn't bring me happiness.
[27:17]It doesn't bring me a sense of fulfillment.
[27:18]So go do something else.
[27:21]You think your risk your sustenance is automatically going to stop?
[27:25]No.
[27:26]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has many ways of giving his sustenance and
[27:31]his risk to people.
[27:35]So this um is the concept of hijra and these days are
[27:38]the days of the hijra ofam and this shows us that sometimes
[27:46]if we're not comfortable in one place if we cannot practice our
[27:49]faith in a particular particular place we have to move and Allah
[27:54]will open doors and opportunities the same way Allah opened doors for
[27:58]the prophets of God and the hijra is not only physical hijra.
[28:05]Hijra is physical, spiritual, social, emotional.
[28:07]You leave that which keeps you down and holds you down.
[28:12]We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to purify our hearts to give
[28:16]us the courage and the strength to be able to walk away
[28:22]from the wrong and walk to Allah subhana wa ta'ala and migrate
[28:25]to God.
[28:34]Muhammad
