[4:37]marom of his grandfather AB abdah Al Hussein our respected scholar and
[4:45]dear families we welcome you all to the fourth night of ofd
[4:53]Hussein remembering a symbol of patience sacrifice and strength in the Quran
[5:00]Kim Allah subhana tal says you will never attain righteousness until you
[5:06]give in the way of Allah from that which you love and
[5:12]whatever you give indeed Allah is knowing of it lady the mother
[5:20]of Abdullah and abas the moon of the bani Hashim epitomized the
[5:29]meaning of giving and sacrificing for a greater purpose despite the discomfort
[5:35]and pain it may have brought her entire life and the lives
[5:40]of her children were dedicated to faithfulness love and loyalty to each
[5:47]of whom were beacons and living examples of Immaculate morals Justice and
[5:54]love she brought up her four Sons to stand by their brother
[6:00]Hussein in the fight for truth knowing well that they will be
[6:05]marted in the battle ofala ban selflessness is a shining example for
[6:12]us all her willingness to sacrifice her beloved Sons for the sake
[6:16]of Truth and Justice is a testament to her unwavering Faith this
[6:22]act teaches us true sacrifice involves putting the greater good above our
[6:31]own desires and Comforts in our current times we must reflect on
[6:37]what selfness selflessness means for us and the best way to embody
[6:41]this virtue is speaking up against oppression and Injustice especially today regarding
[6:49]the genocide of the Palestinian [Music] people muh so as We Gather
[7:03]here today to remember the sacrifices of let us also remember our
[7:10]duty to stand with the oppressed raising awareness is a form of
[7:15]giving in the way of Allah and is a step towards attaining
[7:18]righteousness may Allah subhana tala grant us the strength and courage to
[7:23]advocate for justice now please help me welcome say aliwi for tonight's
[7:32]lecture Witham [Music] alhamdulillah last night we began a discussion on the
[8:54]story of the Shayan and we went over the fact that Allah
[9:02]subhanahu waala he is he is a being who creates and he
[9:08]loves to create amongst his Creations we have of course the Mal
[9:18]the angels and another one of his Creations was the creation of
[9:23]the Gin when we were going over the story of the Jin
[9:25]one of the things that I mentioned is that the Jin just
[9:29]like human beings they have different groups there are believers amongst them
[9:34]and disbelievers they have different tribes and different ethnicities and different races
[9:41]and they even have different shapes and sizes just like we do
[9:46]amongst those gin there was an individual by the name of el
[9:52]who was actually from The Devout Believers and as he begins this
[10:00]process of worshiping Allah subhanahu wa taala his worship is accepted and
[10:05]he begins to rise in rank he rises higher and higher and
[10:09]higher until the point that he is now worshiping Allah with the
[10:16]Mal with the angels of God and when he reaches that point
[10:22]a time comes when Allah decides to create another creation and this
[10:28]is the creation of our forefather adam.
[10:30]and when he begins to create Adam he tells these Mal alongside
[10:38]whom is that I am going to be choosing this individual and
[10:46]his progeny as Myas on this Earth and this is a very
[10:52]lofty Rank and so when the Mal they hear about this that
[10:54]he is going to choose this funny looking creation that is created
[11:01]from way and I think if you compare and contrast what an
[11:04]angel must look like and then you compare it with our creation
[11:07]this strange creature that walks on two feet and he is made
[11:14]from this Earth the Mal they ask that Ya Allah why would
[11:17]you place this type of an individual as your khif it's such
[11:23]a high position we are here we worship you why would there
[11:25]be a need for this and Allah subhana wa ta'ala he tells
[11:30]them that I know what you know not when the creation of
[11:35]Adam has been completed he turns towards the Mal and he says
[11:38]that I am commanding you to do suud before Adam now the
[11:44]Mal of course they don't have any desire within themselves to disobey
[11:49]God they're not like us as human beings or the Jin but
[11:54]who had reached that high rank he makes the decision that I
[11:57]am not going to do suud before for this creation of God
[12:02]because I am Superior to him and he explains his rationale that
[12:06]I am Superior because I am made from the base material of
[12:13]fire and he is made of the base material of clay now
[12:15]when we reach this point about the creation of Adam and this
[12:22]is the topic for tonight we get into this issue of evolution
[12:27]that when we look at the verse of the Holy Quran when
[12:33]we look at the it seems as if the creation of Adam
[12:39]it was instantaneous in nature meaning that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he
[12:44]said be and the creation of Adam was but in the modern
[12:50]day era we're faced with a theory known as Evolution which teaches
[12:54]that everything that exists on the face of this Earth it has
[12:59]a common point of origin everything that exists from the trees from
[13:04]the fish from the human being if you go back in time
[13:09]it came through this gradual process of evolution where one being gives
[13:12]rise to another being and that being gives rise to another being
[13:16]until eventually we as human beings have been created is there an
[13:23]Islamic theory that combines the evidence that we have for evolution with
[13:28]the verses of the Quran as Believers are we supposed to reject
[13:32]the theory of evolution does it go against the verses of the
[13:38]Quran and theith inshallah tonight I wanted to dive deep into this
[13:42]discussion and open up a few of these issues now I remember
[13:44]when I was maybe fifth grade or sixth grade we were doing
[13:50]a module on Evolution and the teacher began to explain that we
[13:55]have this belief in science that in the very beginning when the
[13:59]Earth had just created you had the Earth that was covered with
[14:04]this warm thick soup of liquid and then he explained he said
[14:09]that eventually after millions and billions of years what ended up taking
[14:14]place is that atoms molecules they happen to connect with each other
[14:22]or contact one another and eventually little cells were created and those
[14:29]cells that were created eventually they gave rise with tiny microorganisms and
[14:35]eventually those microorganisms they evolved into more complex forms of life and
[14:42]eventually those gave rise to sea animals and eventually from the sea
[14:45]those animals begin to migrate onto the land and eventually this led
[14:51]to the creation of things like primates and that led to the
[14:55]creation of the human being now I remember remember when he was
[14:59]mentioning all of this he ended it with an interesting point that
[15:04]I still haven't forgotten he said and this is why God doesn't
[15:08]exist and I'll never forget that even in sixth grade I was
[15:13]trying to connect how does the theory of evolution equal the fact
[15:18]that God doesn't exist now as a public school teacher if this
[15:21]had happened today if I had told my parents probably he would
[15:23]have been fired or something would have happened he was going Beyond
[15:29]his scope and his permission that he had to teach these things
[15:32]but this was the conclusion and over the years I've realized that
[15:36]many people they have the same question that if we believe in
[15:41]evolution is there any issue with our belief in religion with our
[15:47]belief in God now when we go back to the history of
[15:49]the theory of evolution you look at the 1850s in the Western
[15:53]World an individual by the name of Charles Darwin he comes about
[15:57]and he argues that based upon the fossil record that they had
[16:01]began to find he argues that when we look at these fossil
[16:06]records we see that there are Creations which become more and more
[16:10]complex as time goes on and so he comes out with this
[16:16]theory of evolution that from the very beginning all of the things
[16:20]which exist in this world they all have a common point of
[16:23]origin now for the Christian world this was a very difficult Theory
[16:30]to Grapple with because for a group of people that believe in
[16:33]the Bible they believed that God created Adam the human race directly
[16:40]and so this idea that we came about and part of our
[16:45]ancestry it goes to monkeys and primates it was a very difficult
[16:51]pill for the Christian world to swallow you know just imagine you're
[16:54]sitting at the zoo and you're looking at monkeys and you're wondering
[16:57]is that my forefather is that Grandpa you know sitting there and
[17:01]he's making noises and he's jumping around it's difficult for us as
[17:08]human beings to accept this now eventually it was accepted within the
[17:11]Christian world because the authority of the church one had been weakened
[17:14]but number two they kept finding pieces of evidence after pieces of
[17:18]evidence now eventually this Theory it begins to move into the Muslim
[17:25]world and during that time it wasn't like today where when something
[17:29]comes about it's instantaneously transmitted into the internet and it reaches the
[17:35]entirety of the world it gradually begins to seep into the Muslim
[17:39]world and Muslims just like their Christian counterparts they begin to Grapple
[17:44]with this question that it seems as if this theory of evolution
[17:47]it has a lot of weight behind it and so as Muslims
[17:51]who believe in the Quran we believe in the of how do
[17:56]we deal with this issue now traditionally Muslims when they had read
[17:59]the verses of the Quran 200 years ago 300 years ago it
[18:04]seemed as if the verses of the Quran were very clear and
[18:09]I wanted to mention a few of these verses because it speaks
[18:11]about the creation of our forefather Adam the first verse it [Music]
[18:23]mentions Allah subhana wa tala he says to the angels indeed I
[18:29]am going to create human beings from mud now you look at
[18:33]this verse there's no mention of evolution there's no mention of monkeys
[18:39]primates there's no mention of any primordial soup there's no mention of
[18:44]any of these things it seems as if Allah is directly creating
[18:48]Adam and then we look even further in the Quran there's many
[18:54]verses on this topic the second verse here this becomes even more
[19:10]powerful Allah subhana wa tala in mentioning the example of Jesus he
[19:15]says the following he says the example of Jesus in the eyes
[19:23]of Allah is indeed like the example of Adam he created him
[19:26]from dust and then he said to him be and he was
[19:32]so Muslims they are reading these types of verses and it seems
[19:37]very clear that Allah subhana wa tala he's not mentioning Evolution he's
[19:40]not mentioning any process in fact he is mentioning an instantaneous process
[19:48]of creation is an instantaneous process and so here we have these
[19:53]theories seeping into the Muslim world at the same time we have
[19:56]the problem of colonialism that we don't have the scientists that we
[19:59]used to have we don't have the institutions that we used to
[20:03]have if you look in the early history of Islam we were
[20:05]on The Cutting Edge of science the European world was steeped in
[20:10]darkness they didn't have science in fact if you were a scientist
[20:14]they would kill you they would execute you they might even burn
[20:17]you at the stake but the Muslim World they were at the
[20:19]Forefront but at this point the Muslim world is in a weaken
[20:25]State we're struggling colonialism is coming in they're chopping up bits and
[20:29]pieces of our Nations and our countries and so we're grappling with
[20:33]this we're struggling with this what do we do what do we
[20:35]believe and so some Muslims they came about and they said that
[20:40]maybe just like some of the other verses of the Holy Quran
[20:44]they are metaphorical maybe these verses are also metaphorical that when Allah
[20:50]he says be and it is he is initiating the process of
[20:53]creation through the process of evolution maybe that is what is going
[21:01]on on here and so Muslims were coming out with these kinds
[21:04]of ideas trying to synthesize all of these different theories that they
[21:08]had from the fossil record along with the verses of the Quran
[21:13]now here sometimes we have this issue where we find other verses
[21:21]that may point to this reality as well one of the verses
[21:28]of the Quran Allah subhana wa tala he says in this verse
[21:40]of the Holy Quran Allah he says that we created you and
[21:45]then we fashioned you so when the Muslims were looking at verses
[21:49]like this they were saying look there's the possibility that we misunderstood
[21:53]there's a possibility that this is a gradual process that evolution is
[21:59]how Allah created mankind now here we're going to insh go along
[22:04]with this let us imagine for a moment that evolution is the
[22:10]correct Theory and by the way it is simply a theory it
[22:12]is not a fact it is not proven beyond a shadow of
[22:16]a doubt it is a theory Al bit we say it is
[22:20]a strong Theory let's go along with this and let us believe
[22:23]that this is the best understanding of these verses as we begin
[22:30]to go into this we look at the fossil record and when
[22:34]you look in the fossil record what we find is that there
[22:37]are groups of Creations that preceded our own creation as Homo sapiens
[22:42]and I was looking online I was trying to find these different
[22:48]beings that had been created that they say is the link between
[22:52]us and the initial Creations the first creation there is something by
[22:57]the name of Homo habilis that appears 2.4 million years ago and
[23:03]it goes extinct about 1.4 million years ago it's a long time
[23:10]when we really think about how long ago this was it boggles
[23:12]the mind so this was one of the first they say humanlike
[23:18]Creations that we find but when you look at this skeleton it
[23:23]doesn't really look like a human being in fact it is closer
[23:28]to a primate than a human being after that we see other
[23:31]ones there's one called homo rudol fenus and I think maybe a
[23:36]British individual named these they all have strange names homo rudol fenus
[23:41]it appears 1.9 million years ago and it goes extinct 1.8 million
[23:46]years ago and then it continues there is being after being after
[23:49]being until we eventually reach the Neanderthals that came into existence 200,000
[23:58]years ago and they go extinct 40,000 years ago and eventually we
[24:03]reach the creation of homo sapiens Homo sapiens they come about 210,000
[24:10]years ago and they continue until today so here we are assuming
[24:16]that this idea of evolution is correct we're going to take the
[24:19]verses of the Quran metaphorically and we're going to say that Adam
[24:23]Al when Allah subhah wa taala he creates him and he breathes
[24:28]into him that ru is the first of the homo sapiens so
[24:35]200,000 years ago we are saying that if we believe in the
[24:41]theory of evolution everything is okay Adam was created about 200,000 years
[24:45]ago when this Homo Sapien comes about he has a larger brain
[24:49]he's anatomically similar to me and you this is Adam now as
[24:55]soon as we buy into this we begin to run into a
[25:00]few different issues issue number one when we look at the story
[25:04]of and the two sons ofam now the story is in the
[25:13]Quran it's in theith that these two sons of Adam at what
[25:15]point Allah he asks them for sacrifice he wants to see which
[25:23]of these two sons is more sincere and so he says that
[25:25]I want you to bring the best of what you have and
[25:29]place it in front of me as a sacrifice he was an
[25:35]individual that was into animal husbandry meaning that he had a flock
[25:41]of sheep it is mentioned in theith that he was a farmer
[25:45]he would engage in agricultural work and soil he brings some very
[25:50]low quality grains that he had that is his sacrifice and habil
[25:56]he brings the best sheep the best Ram that he had amongst
[25:58]his flock and that is his sacrifice now what ends up taking
[26:03]place is that when we look at the story and we look
[26:05]at the fossil record we find that agriculture did not exist 200,000
[26:13]years ago when does agriculture first appear it first appears about 10,000
[26:19]or 11,000 years ago so we're running into problem number one that
[26:23]if we say that 200,000 years ago it was the first Adam
[26:28]the first Homo sapien then we now have an issue with this
[26:32]that if he's into agriculture then that was only 10,000 years ago
[26:36]problem number two is that when you continue with the story of
[26:41]and eventually he kills he murders his brother habil now what's interesting
[26:49]is that the Quran mentions this that when he murders his brother
[26:54]he doesn't know what to do with the body and the Quran
[27:00]actually mentions that Allah he sends a crow the crow scratches into
[27:03]the Earth and he shows that when a body has been deceased
[27:08]you are supposed to bury it underneath the Earth there's this burial
[27:11]process now what's strange about this is that when you look at
[27:16]the fossil record you look at the historical record you find that
[27:18]burial was something that the homo sapiens they had from the very
[27:22]beginning even before Homo sapiens came about those other beings that had
[27:26]existed even they had customs of burial where they would take one
[27:32]another they would bury the bodies they would even have little bits
[27:34]of food that they would place in the grave they would put
[27:36]jewelry in the grave sometimes they would Place horses in the grave
[27:41]how is it that he doesn't know about the burial custom if
[27:48]he's from this long line of other beings then he should have
[27:54]seen burials he should have seen others who passed away and they
[27:57]are then placed underneath the Earth then we run into the third
[28:02]issue and this is an amazing issue when you look at the
[28:04]verses of the Holy Quran about the creation of and the response
[28:11]of the Mal to Allah saying that I'm going to place him
[28:15]as my vice jant on the face of this Earth the Angels
[28:19]say something that they should not have had knowledge of what do
[28:22]the Mal say Allah he says I'm going to be placing as
[28:33]my on the face of this Earth the Mal they [Music] respond
[28:44]the Mala they say Ya Allah are you really going to be
[28:51]giving this high rank to this creation that sheds blood and causes
[28:55]corruption on the face of this Earth now there's a Hadith by
[29:00]IM where the IM he says the following he says what would
[29:06]have made the Angels know to say will you place there in
[29:09]someone who will cause corruption and shed blood had they not witnessed
[29:17]those who cause corruption and shed blood the Imam is pointing to
[29:20]a reality he says that these Mal that they're asking Allah about
[29:24]this that this being he's a very violent being he's a corrupt
[29:29]being we've seen this before the Imam is pointing to a reality
[29:34]that perhaps there were other beings that resembled Adam now this leads
[29:41]us to a discussion of beings known as the nas when we
[29:47]look at Islamic the imams 1,400 years ago I want you to
[29:53]keep this in mind 1,400 years ago there's no discussion of Evolution
[29:58]there's no discussion of fossil record this is not even in the
[30:04]minds of the people they begin to discuss beings that were known
[30:09]as nesnas nesnas literally means humanlike beings and they explained that before
[30:15]the creation ofam there were other beings that were resembling the human
[30:21]being and Allah subhana wa ta'ala would create one group of them
[30:27]he would give them an opportunity and they would begin to cause
[30:30]corruption and shed blood so they would be destroyed when they were
[30:34]destroyed Allah subhana T would create another group they would again cause
[30:39]corruption and they would be destroyed and this continued over and over
[30:46]and over again until the creation of Adam now here the Islamic
[30:51]scholars they've brought all of these things together they've looked at the
[30:56]fossil record they've looked at the verses of the Quran they've looked
[30:59]at the they've looked at the different theories they've said that we
[31:02]can have a conclusive and comprehensive theory of evolution that works for
[31:08]us as Muslims what is that theory they have said that it
[31:12]is possible that Allah subhah wa ta'ala he created these other beings
[31:16]through the process of evolution these other beings that came before even
[31:22]when we look at Homo sapiens it is possible that even they
[31:28]were created through the the process of evolution but they said that
[31:31]when we look at the verses of the Holy Quran when we
[31:33]look at the when we look at these pieces of evidence they
[31:37]say that it makes sense that Adam was a unique and a
[31:45]distinct creation of God that Allah subhana wa tala he said be
[31:49]and Adam was created that maybe he resembled in shape those other
[31:54]beings but there was something special about this being of God and
[32:00]that was the rof that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala had placed within
[32:04]him this potential which allowed Adam to have that role as Theif
[32:09]of Allah on the face of this Earth so this is one
[32:13]way that we could deal with this theory of evolution we could
[32:15]bring all of these different things together we could accept potentially the
[32:19]idea that things were created through Evolution while continuing to hold to
[32:25]this idea of the verses of the Quran and theith now here
[32:28]I just wanted to conclude by mentioning just a few points Point
[32:34]number one we do have to understand that the theory of evolution
[32:37]is just a theory you know I give this example that when
[32:42]you are looking at the fossil record what we are seeing is
[32:46]a little bit of evidence that is here and a little bit
[32:48]of evidence that is here and a little bit of evidence that
[32:52]is here and it's like the example of a jigsaw puzzle I
[32:54]don't know if you've ever bought these jigsaw puzzles and then your
[32:57]kids get a hold of the jigsaw puzzle and then you have
[33:01]to say f to many of the pieces and sometimes you don't
[33:04]know until one day you're putting it all together and you realize
[33:08]that there's a whole bunch of pieces missing from the jigsaw puzzle
[33:11]but this is literally what they are doing it's a 500 piece
[33:14]jigaw puzzle and scientists only have 30 40 50 of those pieces
[33:20]and they're doing the best that they can to put those pieces
[33:23]together to have an image of how we were created as human
[33:25]beings but we have to acknowledge that it is a very incomplete
[33:30]picture the second issue is that there is no problem with not
[33:37]believing an evolution again as we mentioned it's simply a theory a
[33:40]theory that one day they can say that we were incorrect just
[33:43]like many other theories after 50 100 500 thousand years they say
[33:49]that you know what the theory that we had we got it
[33:51]wrong we were incorrect at the same time we also have to
[33:55]say that there is nothing wrong with believing in the the of
[34:00]evolution even in the fact that maybe he was created through the
[34:03]process of evolution with that said I think that the best way
[34:09]of looking at it is what the have mentioned and others they've
[34:12]gone over this Theory and it's a very comprehensive and it's a
[34:16]very conclusive idea of evolution I wanted to end it with just
[34:22]a Hadith and inshallah we can use this Hadith really to expand
[34:27]our minds IM am he mentions a really beautiful point he says
[34:31]perhaps you assume that Allah has only created this one world and
[34:40]assume that he has not created any mankind except for you and
[34:44]we often times feel that way as if we are the only
[34:48]beings the only Creations that Allah has created in this entire universe
[34:51]IM B then continues he says yes by Allah he has created
[34:59]a thousand thousand in the Arabic language this is in reference to
[35:02]the million to the term million indeed by Allah he has created
[35:09]a million worlds and a million Adams for which you are the
[35:13]last of these worlds and the last of these Adams Subhan Allah
[35:18]when you think about the 14400 years ago in a time period
[35:22]when these kinds of ideas were not even being discussed they are
[35:27]showing us that Allah ah subhanahu wa ta'ala he is the greatest
[35:30]Creator and we should never think that we are the only creation
[35:36]of Allah Allah has created and he continues to create and he
[35:40]continues to create but in this month of muharam one of the
[35:44]things that we recognize is that the greatest of Allah's Creations among
[35:47]these great Creations is none other than the creation of the and
[35:53]when we look at this idea of mourning for abdah Hussein we
[35:58]find find that our forefather Adam he is in fact one of
[36:03]the first who begins to mourn one of the greatest creations of
[36:07]Allah we have a tradition that it mentions that when Adam Alam
[36:14]had made that mistake and he was expelled from the Garden of
[36:16]Eden he was in a very unhappy State he was very distressed
[36:21]he was very sad he was constantly weeping he was constantly doing
[36:25]Toba he was saying yaah Allah please forgive me I made a
[36:30]mistake I was fooled by the tricks of the Shan I didn't
[36:33]mean to do this and So eventually JRA he descends upon Adam
[36:38]and he says oh Adam if you want your Toba to be
[36:44]accepted by Allah subhanahu wa taala I am going to teach you
[36:47]certain words by the right of those words your Toba is going
[36:52]to be accepted Allah is going to forgive you Adam Alam he
[36:56]turns towards J he says says oh my brother JB what are
[37:03]those words JB he teaches him a certain Dua the Dua is
[37:05]as follows the translation in English it says the following it says
[37:11]that oh the praiseworthy by the right of Muhammad so first he
[37:15]teaches him the name of the holy prophet sallallah alai then he
[37:20]says say the following oh the most high by the right of
[37:25]Ali oh Creator by the right of FAA oh benevolent by the
[37:30]right of Hassan Hussein Adam he begins to recite these words Allah
[37:35]accepts his Toba his repentance is accepted and then Adam he turns
[37:40]towards J he says oh J I have a question to ask
[37:44]you jbra he says what is it oh Adam he says that
[37:49]I don't know why this is taking place but when I mention
[37:51]these names I felt a sense of Joy the first name the
[37:58]second name the third name the fourth name he says but when
[38:03]I reach that final name that you taught me he says that
[38:05]it feels as if my heart is about to shatter into a
[38:10]million pieces tears well into my eyes I begin to weep what
[38:12]is happening to me I don't understand the effect of this name
[38:18]jbel he says that this son of yours husse he is going
[38:24]to be killed and he is going to face such affli ations
[38:28]that all of the other afflictions are going to seem as if
[38:35]they were nothing and then he continues he says that he is
[38:38]going to be killed while he is thirsty and lonely he will
[38:43]have no one there to help him he is going to be
[38:44]all alone he says oh Adam I wish you could see him
[38:52]crying out oh thirst oh thirst I wish you could see him
[38:55]crying out oh loneliness oh loneliness and he is going to be
[39:03]all alone oh Adam I wish you could see him his only
[39:04]answer that is going to come is going to be the Striking
[39:09]of the swords and he is going to be butchered like a
[39:10]sheep from the back of the neck and the enemies will rob
[39:15]the belongings of the tents and his blessed head with those of
[39:19]his companions is going to be paraded throughout the cities and his
[39:24]family is going to be taken as captives they are going to
[39:26]be paraded throughout the cities and he says that they are going
[39:30]to be taken as prisoners and this is something that I am
[39:33]revealing to you from the knowledge of your lord and it's at
[39:38]this point that Adam he becomes one of the first aadar one
[39:41]of the first mourners of ab abdah Hussein and he begins to
[39:47]weep alongside him JB also weeps and the narration it mentions that
[39:51]they are Weeping as a mother weeps when she has lost her
[39:54]children may Allah subhana wa ta'ala accept these acts of worship may
[39:58]he guide us and he make us from the true mourners of

[45:38]together let im here a stranger you [Music] inal thirsty were in
[45:57]carala Mar you felling [Music] [Music] car abdah it's narrated from that
[46:30]he told one of his [Music] [Music] companions he was one of
[46:52]the companions of the IM IM says if you are to cry
[46:59]for anything in this world then cry for Hussein for he was
[47:03]butchered the way car is butchered h a name that revives a
[47:15]heart H the name that R is a na proud h the
[47:30]Legacy unmatched him pra hus in the heart of believer a beacon
[47:52]for faith without your name lost we it be but through your
[48:01]love our souls are free and with every tear we shed so
[48:12]dear and Every Beat from the heart score you'll hear us chant
[48:24]your benevolent name Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein the tragedy of carala has
[48:46]many characters and heroes who have become Inspirations transcending time and embodying
[48:53]for us the meanings and the pillars of our faith and there
[48:59]are the Warriors and the elderly and the men and the woman
[49:04]and the teenagers and the girls and the mothers and the fathers
[49:09]and the uncles and even the infants but one of The Unsung
[49:17]Warriors and heroes of carala who was not present in carala was
[49:24]umul banin Fatima Al K the wife of IM Ali am the
[49:28]second wife of IM Ali after say was killed in some years
[49:40]had passed IM aliam wanted to Bear a son wanted to have
[49:49]a son who would support his brothers alhassan Hussein so he consulted
[49:54]with his with his brother ail who was known to be familiar
[49:57]with the lineages of the Arab and he said I am looking
[50:06]for a wife that comes from the lineage of strong but Noble
[50:11]Warriors so she may bear a son who will be a supporter
[50:18]for his brothers alassan Hussein in some cases we've read that he
[50:26]specifically mentioned Al IM Hussein so ail suggested and her name was
[50:35]Fatima a Pious lady who came from a family of Brave Warriors
[50:40]with an honorable lineage her her name was ftim ham and when
[50:47]im Ali first married her and she moved into his house she
[50:51]approached him one day and she said I have a favor to
[50:58]ask he says what is it Fatima she says I would like
[51:03]if you stop calling me by my name if you change my
[51:09]name Allah abbar this lady in her devotion is willing to change
[51:12]her identity for what she says because I see sometimes when you
[51:20]call me by my name there are signs of Sorrow on the
[51:23]face of Hassan Hussein and Zab and I do not wish to
[51:28]bring any sorrow or to see them sad so please call me
[51:34]and she had four Sons she bore four sons and she raised
[51:44]all of them to be at the service of the children of
[51:50]she taught them to love the children of Fatima to respect them
[51:57]to care for them to attend for their needs and always help
[52:05]and always help them and her and IM Ali in particular Al
[52:10]abas they taught him to be a guardian and a caretaker of
[52:18]Z andan would always tell AB she would put her own kids
[52:28]we've seen in many cases when a mother is raising the children
[52:32]of another woman she will always favor her kids but B was
[52:38]the opposite she would favor the children of Fatima over her kids
[52:41]she would make sure the children of Fatima had what they needed
[52:44]before her own kids had what they needed she taught Al abas
[52:50]that when you refer to alassan Hussein you call them say say
[52:56]Hass say this is the level of respect that she was teaching
[53:08]Al and was alive when Imam hussein.
[53:16]embarked on his journey tobala and so her four Sons traveled with
[53:25]the Imam and the opinions say that she did not travel with
[53:29]the Caravan because she was elderly or she might have been sick
[53:35]but there is also an opinion that says the reason why umul
[53:38]banin did not join the Caravan was so that she would not
[53:44]distract her sons from taking care of her from taking care of
[53:46]the Imam and say Zab by having to attend in care for
[53:51]her as well on that Journey she wanted her F their focus
[53:56]to be on the children of father and z and Hussein and
[54:01]she emphasized to her sons to always be with IM husin to
[54:09]always be with particularly ab and the days passed yes brothers and
[54:21]sisters the tragedy fell inala and IM Hussein was killed and were
[54:33]killed and the brothers of the the sons of and were also
[54:42]killed all of the warriors were killed then they took the wom
[54:50]and the children as captives and they took him to the Palace
[54:53]of yazid first they went with them to kufa then they to
[54:59]come to yazid and then eventually after a very a very difficult
[55:02]Journey they returned back to Medina now who was in Medina at
[55:10]that time there was ban awaiting so as the Caravan of Imam
[55:15]Hussein approached there was a poet who was also traveling with them
[55:21]a guide IM Z looks at him he says his name was
[55:24]bisher he says yeah bisher lead the Caravan go before the Caravan
[55:31]and recite poetry announcing our arrival Bish enters Medina and says [Music]
[55:56][Music] [Music] he says people of you no longer belong here this
[56:26]is the city of rasool Allah and the grandson of rasool was
[56:30]named and butchered in carala Hussein was skill and eyes flow with
[56:41]tears what happened to Hussein his body remained inal over the sand
[56:55]exposed and his head roam the lands at the spears the people
[57:10]gathered around bisher and started asking for the details and as bisher
[57:15]was telling the story a respected lady an elderly lady carrying a
[57:20]baby on her shoulders she makes her way between the crowds until
[57:27]she comes close to bisher see she says yeah bisher tell me
[57:31]what happened to my master husse bisher looks at this elderly lady
[57:39]he asks who is this lady they tell him this is the
[57:44]mother of Al abas she had four Sons none of them returned
[57:51]she hasn't heard the news of any of them yet the first
[57:53]question she's asking is about Imam Hussein am bisher didn't know what
[58:01]to tell her knowing that all four of her sons were martyred
[58:09]he may Allah reward your patience over the death of your sonman
[58:16]she says I asked you about Hussein he says may Allah reward
[58:20]your patience about over the death of your son Abdullah she says
[58:25]again what about about Hussein then he says may Allah reward your
[58:33]patience over the death of your son jaar III she says yeah
[58:36]tell me about Hussein he says a narration says that she fell
[58:49]to the floor and that baby she was holding was an infant
[58:54]of ab ab yet she still asked she says yeah Bish you've
[59:00]torn my heart apart tell me about Hussein he says may Allah
[59:08]reward your patience over the death of Hussein Hussein was killed and
[59:15]his head was raised the top the Spears they fell before him
[59:36]one after another three sons yeah died for Hussein together three sons
[59:52]but so long as Abbas left was still [Applause] intact abas was
[60:06]killed it broke Hussein's back as if says may all four Sons
[60:20]be spared for him my master Hussein was the light of my
[60:28]eyes and even if my sons were torn at every limb for
[60:37]husse now shed every tear and awful cry since their birth of
[60:53]sung my hym and taught my sons to always right with Hussein
[61:03]and greatly honor him and be sure to die before he di
[61:13]not only him he's adding more but his baby was [Music] spared
[61:22]not only him but his baby was not spared after that when
[61:41]the Caravan settled [Music] in settled in the home in this empty
[61:48]home that was full of life that was full of the presence
[61:53]of Imam Hussein and Abul abas and her brothers someone comes knocking
[62:02]on the door tells the people in the house she says do
[62:05]not open the door for anyone I do not want anyone to
[62:10]see me in the way that I am so they go and
[62:16]they answer the door and they say say Zab is busy and
[62:20]wish is not to see [Music] anybody tells the person tells Z
[62:26]I am her partner and the sorrow I am I am the
[62:34]mother of Abbas she comes into the house say Z comes to
[62:45]her and Embraces her patiently and passionately and she says may Allah
[62:50]reward your patience over the death of your four sons and my
[62:57]brothers she says may Allah reward your patience over the martyrdom of
[63:10]Hussein if you were in carala to see what we've seen Hussein
[63:21]was butchered and his men covered in a bloody sheep [Applause] she
[63:30]says yeah Z where was Abbas and all of this tell me
