[24:04]muham sh [Music] alhamdulillah assalam last night we began with a topic
[25:37]of why we commemorate the month of muharam and we first started
[25:46]the Night by going through the stories of how much the they
[25:49]wanted to stop these commemorations just like these commemorations that we are
[25:57]having today in Past Times from very beginning there was a push
[26:01]from theifs of how do we stop these morning ceremonies from taking
[26:06]place and we went over the story of mut that when he
[26:11]was looking around and he was seeing how much love there was
[26:15]in the hearts of the people he first tried certain methods to
[26:18]stop the morning ceremonies and when they didn't work he actually went
[26:25]as far as to demolish the shrine of ab abdah Hussein and
[26:30]even when he demolished the shrine and he destroyed even the traces
[26:35]of where the building had been even then he wasn't able to
[26:42]remove the love that was in the hearts of the people and
[26:44]we went over that story of even that individual the woman that
[26:48]was in his court whose role was to organize the entertainment sessions
[26:56]of the khif so she would organize people to sing sing and
[27:00]to dance and to do these different actions even she had ended
[27:05]up going on the Zara of Imam Hussein even in modern times
[27:10]I remember a few years ago I was in we were at
[27:15]the AR walk and one of the things that they told us
[27:18]the guests the hosts that we had they said that during the
[27:24]time of Saddam Saddam was very sensitive when people wanted to go
[27:27]on the AR walk because he felt that it was a threat
[27:31]to his Rule and they said that people they still wanted to
[27:34]do the AR walk they wanted to walk from nef all the
[27:39]way to carala and because they didn't want to be caught by
[27:42]Saddam Hussein's guards what they would do is that they would walk
[27:45]in the middle of the night whenever no one was watching there
[27:49]was no police there was no agents they would do this AR
[27:53]walk and as soon as daylight came they would then go into
[27:55]the houses of the people that were along the way and would
[27:59]hide there they would sleep there and then when daytime came again
[28:02]they would rise so historically the they have feared these gatherings just
[28:08]like the one that we are at today and we began this
[28:13]journey of why is it that we commemorate the month of muharam
[28:16]the first reason that we gave was the reason that we are
[28:20]mourning the loss of an individual that had so much to teach
[28:26]us that when you look at a mass assume an individual that
[28:30]is infallible that is connected to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala you have
[28:34]an individual that can change the very world and so when we
[28:42]have an individual like this that we lose them then there is
[28:45]a mourning process there is a loss that for as long as
[28:50]human history goes on that loss can never be replenished it can
[28:53]never be fixed this was the first reason that we went over
[28:58]the second reason is that we commemorate the love of D and
[29:04]what that can do to us we went over the story of
[29:11]Omar this individual that had a great love for a piece of
[29:13]land that was called the land of Reay and as a result
[29:18]of that love that he has this love of D even though
[29:22]he knows he knows that by killing Imam Hussein his place is
[29:30]going to be the fire of hell that love that he has
[29:31]it pulls him towards the killing of the Imam now when we
[29:37]were going over the story I hope you caught the lesson in
[29:42]it that every single individual every human being we also create even
[29:46]if we are not that infatuated with the Dy we create a
[29:51]certain love within our heart of the Dunya and that creates a
[29:55]separation between us and our IM today the question that we should
[30:03]be asking ourselves is why is it that we are unable to
[30:07]see our Imam there's a barrier there is something which is preventing
[30:12]me from connecting with my IM and we have to admit that
[30:15]at a level there is a love of dun that pulls me
[30:19]in One Direction away from my IM you know there was a
[30:25]story that I was listening to maybe a few months ago and
[30:29]it was a story of one of the sh in the Iran
[30:33]AR War one of the individuals that had volunteered and he had
[30:38]fought and he had been martyred and he says something very interesting
[30:41]this individual when I was listening to the story he said that
[30:47]he didn't have the ability to speak so he was born without
[30:50]the ability of speaking and this was maybe in the early 1980s
[30:54]the mid 1980s in Iran there wasn't wasn't as common that you
[31:00]could go and for example learn sign language and you could communicate
[31:03]with someone like that and he writes in his will he says
[31:07]that whenever I would try to connect with people whenever I would
[31:11]try to speak with people you know just imagine that you have
[31:16]all of these things that you want to say you want to
[31:18]communicate whenever I will try to communicate with those around me he
[31:23]says that they would make fun of me they would mock me
[31:28]so this was something that was very painful for him and he
[31:31]narrates after his shahada he writes in his will he writes that
[31:36]even though whenever I tried to speak with you you would mock
[31:38]me you would make fun of me he says know that every
[31:43]single day my Imam would speak with me every single day my
[31:50]Imam would communicate with me if this individual was able to communicate
[31:55]with his IM he was able to connect with his then when
[31:59]we are commemorating the story of carala we have to admit that
[32:04]there is something which is blocking us from being able to see
[32:07]and to communicate with our Imam and in many cases it is
[32:13]nothing other than the love of dun that was reason number two
[32:18]reason number three and inshallah this is the start of today's lecture
[32:22]we commemorate and we mourn IM hussein.
[32:25]and this is possibly the most important reason because when we look
[32:31]at Imam Hussein we recognize that the Imam is the cause of
[32:34]Islam being saved from complete destruction if you look at every other
[32:40]religion in the world you see these deviations that that religion today
[32:46]it is nothing like when that religion was first revealed a th
[32:51]2,000 3,000 years ago when im Hussein he's about to rise up
[32:55]he looks at the religion of Islam he looks at the the
[32:59]rulership of yazid and he sees that all of those little deviations
[33:02]that had been introduced into the religion from the earliest [Music] days
[33:07]he sees that they are reaching a point where they are about
[33:12]to completely Wipe Out the religion of Islam the fact that today
[33:17]we can come and we can commemorate the fact that today we
[33:20]can open up the Quran and it is the same Quran with
[33:24]the same interpretation as the time of the fact that we can
[33:29]pray we can fast we can connect with Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala all
[33:32]of these things it goes back to the sacrifice of Imam Hussein
[33:36]you know today you look at the religions of Christianity you look
[33:41]at the religion of Judaism it is so altered you speak to
[33:46]a Christian brother you say that your belief in God can you
[33:48]explain it to me they say that yes God is three but
[33:53]he is one he is one but he is three you don't
[33:57]even know what is going on and they say okay well I'll
[33:59]explain it to you that God is like an egg it's reached
[34:03]the point where they are trying to make a metaphor of God
[34:07]in relationship with an egg you look at Judaism the alterations that
[34:11]have happened within the idea that a group of people is the
[34:16]chosen ones of God that God has created all of these human
[34:19]beings on this Earth an ethnic group over the other these are
[34:24]the deviations and worse that we would have seen in Islam if
[34:28]Imam Hussein had not risen up you know a few weeks ago
[34:32]I was looking at a video online and it was a very
[34:37]nice Jewish lady she was explaining that in their religion they have
[34:41]something just like our hijab and then she explained that the way
[34:47]that they practice hijab they have a little bit of a loophole
[34:51]that they are supposed to cover their hair but what they do
[34:56]in order to cover their hair is that they cover their hair
[34:59]with someone else's hair and so usually that wig is even more
[35:03]luxurious it's even more beautiful than their own hair the hair that
[35:09]they themselves have and so we see all of these deviations all
[35:13]of these alterations Islam stands unique amongst all of the religions of
[35:18]the world and so we owe everything to IM Al Hussein the
[35:21]fourth reason is that when we commemorate the month of mam we
[35:26]commemorate the sacrifice of Imam Hussein it allows us to reform ourselves
[35:33]and I'm sure that all of you have experiened this that there
[35:38]was something that maybe you were struggling with during the rest of
[35:41]the year there was some problem that you had with the Halal
[35:43]with theam maybe you were having issues with the hijab you were
[35:49]having issues with the Salah you were having issues maybe at a
[35:52]line of work where the income was not Halal and you remember
[35:58]the story ofala you connect with Imam hussein.
[36:01]and through that connection you get the strength to fix that issue
[36:06]that you were dealing with I don't know how many people they've
[36:11]been struggling months and months years and years they are struggling with
[36:15]an issue and they weep over Imam Hussein after a few tears
[36:18]they feel that connection they feel that strength within themselves to stand
[36:22]against whatever they are facing when you look at the story of
[36:26]Imam Hussein it is the story of growth it is the story
[36:31]of change and I mentioned a few last night actually it feels
[36:35]like a few days ago last time I mentioned that even in
[36:40]Shia countries even criminals are reformed by the story of Imam Hussein
[36:45]that that individual that for his entire life he is stealing he's
[36:49]a career criminal he is drinking he is using drugs when the
[36:54]month of mam comes something changes within him he says in honor
[36:59]of I'm going to stay away from this sin and many times
[37:03]he sticks to it that even after the month has finished he
[37:07]doesn't go back to that crime and that criminal lifestyle that he
[37:11]had and so the holy month of mam it is a month
[37:14]of change for us that if you can connect to the story
[37:18]this is the month that if you are facing any challenges in
[37:20]your life utilize the energy utilize the tear utilize the sorrow in
[37:28]order to move move towards Allah subhanahu wa taala this was reason
[37:35]number four reason number five and this is such an important one
[37:39]when we commemorate carala we are reminding ourselves of the failure of
[37:48]the majority to do their Duty and here I want to stop
[37:53]all of us because when we begin to think about and I
[37:56]mentioned this yesterday we often times think about the failure of those
[38:00]people they failed their Imam but I want to bring us into
[38:09]this picture that is it possible that we are failing our Imam
[38:13]because if we don't think about it with this Dynamic then the
[38:18]story of carala it doesn't have much use for me and you
[38:21]when you look during the time of IM Hussein one of the
[38:25]things that is clear is that the vast majority of the people
[38:27]of his time the people of kufa the people of Medina the
[38:32]people of Mecca the people of the Muslim World they knew what
[38:37]their Duty was towards AB abdah they knew but the issue that
[38:44]they had is that in order to help the Imam it would
[38:48]have entailed loss and in order to bring this home I wanted
[38:52]to give you all an example tonight imagine that your IM Rises
[39:01]is tonight the second night of muharam he rises and for example
[39:05]sake will make him rise perhaps in the city of Dearborn he
[39:10]comes and he announces maybe even in this audience he announces that
[39:15]for example I am IM these are the proofs and I am
[39:24]calling upon people to volunteer for my cause he says but there
[39:27]is a few issues that I have to tell you about first
[39:30]number one if you want to join my cause then it is
[39:36]guaranteed that you are going to lose your homes just imagine the
[39:40]homes that you have the comfort those homes bring you how many
[39:45]years you have worked to pay off the mortgages and to have
[39:47]a home the Imam says if you join me tonight you are
[39:52]going to lose your home so just imagine how that would feel
[39:57]that after the program and maybe you would have to stay for
[39:58]the Arabic and you would have to continue staying because you don't
[40:01]have a home anymore imagine how that would feel that afterwards I
[40:04]don't have anything to go to he says number two you're going
[40:11]to lose your job so you can say wasam to your job
[40:14]as well number three you are going to lose all of the
[40:17]savings that you have worked so hard all of these years to
[40:20]gain you're going to lose all of these things now he's not
[40:24]even asking you that you're going to risk your life he's not
[40:27]saying that he's simply saying that you're going to have some Financial
[40:34]loss and he promises you that eventually there will be recompensation and
[40:38]there will be reward in the as well but today there is
[40:41]loss how many of us would be willing to join the IM
[40:47]and it's a question alhamdulillah I see many hands in the front
[40:52]of the young Brothers alhamdulillah this is something that we really have
[40:56]to think about that if there was this level of loss would
[41:02]we hesitate even a little bit would we hesitate would we say
[41:05]that you know I have all of these things I've worked for
[41:07]so many years for I don't really want to lose all of
[41:13]these things you know during the events of Carabella one of the
[41:17]things that really breaks the heart is that AWI has narrated he
[41:22]says that when the Battle of car was taking place just imagine
[41:26]30,000 individuals that are surrounding a band of less than 100 he
[41:29]says that when this battle was taking place I looked and appears
[41:34]he was on the side of the enemy he says I looked
[41:36]on the foothills of the hills that surrounded The Plains of carala
[41:43]and I saw the Elders of kufa and these Elders of kufa
[41:45]they had gathered these individuals that had all of the power they
[41:49]were tribal leaders he says they had gathered on the foothills of
[41:53]kuf he says I saw that tears were streaming down their faces
[41:56]until had soaked their would we actually rise up to help them
[42:01]regardless of the tremendous cost number five and inshallah everyone is still
[42:08]with me let's recite a loud salaat number six when we mourn
[42:23]one of the things that we are reminding ourselves is that Islam
[42:30]is not just a religion that has to do acts of I
[42:35]and this is one of the clearest of signs when you look
[42:37]at the rise of Imam Hussein when you look at the reasons
[42:43]why the Imam Rises one of the clearest signs is that if
[42:45]Islam was just a religion where you go and you do your
[42:50]Salah and you do your s and you go on the Hajj
[42:50]pilgrimage and you don't have anything to do with the leaders that
[42:55]are in place and you don't have anything to do with the
[42:57]Community the society you're disconnected from all of those things if this
[43:03]was the case then there is no doubt that Imam Hussein would
[43:08]have remained and by the way many people when they saw that
[43:12]the Imam was about to rise they had the same idea this
[43:13]look this has nothing to do with you we do our Salah
[43:17]we do our s we go on the Hajj pilgrimage we do
[43:20]all of the things that we are Duty bound to do in
[43:22]Islam leave the Allah will deal with them Imam Hussein rise it
[43:29]shows that Islam has a very deep connection with the society around
[43:33]us you cannot live as a drop of water in the ocean
[43:39]without being assimilated and being washed away by the water many times
[43:45]we miss this point when we look at the mar one of
[43:50]the things that is really interesting I'm not going to mention the
[43:53]name of this scholar but he has written a book in relation
[43:59]to the connection between Islam and Islamic governance in his book he
[44:05]mentions the following I wanted to read this to you inshallah it's
[44:08]very amazing when you see the connection that Islam has with all
[44:11]of society he says the following and by the way many times
[44:16]we think the opposite of what he says he says the proportion
[44:19]of the quranic verses concerned with the Affairs of society to those
[44:28]concerned with ritual worship is greater than 100 to one usually we
[44:34]think it's the opposite when you open the pages of the Quran
[44:38]we think that every single verse is in regards to Salah and
[44:42]S and the Hajj pilgrimage this scholar he says no no no
[44:45]it's actually the opposite that for every one verse that has to
[44:51]do with Salah there are hundred other verses that have to do
[44:55]with Society they have to do with economics they have to do
[44:57]with politics they have to do with how you deal with other
[45:02]human beings he says this is the reality of Islam then he
[45:04]goes and he explains the books of aith at least we should
[45:09]say okay the books of Hadith those are going to be all
[45:14]about fasting and praying and Hajj and again he says the following
[45:18]he says that of the approximately 50 sections of the books of
[45:21]Hadith containing all of the laws of Islam just imagine how many
[45:28]thousands and tens of thousands of Hadith are in those books he
[45:31]says no more than two or three of them are concerned with
[45:37]the ritual acts of worship now here this doesn't mean that the
[45:40]Salah and the S these are not important they are extremely important
[45:44]but it means that in order for us to establish the true
[45:50]Salah the true fasting you have to also be concerned with what
[45:53]is happening in the society around you then he continu and he
[45:59]says that all of these sections they are related to the matters
[46:02]of the duties of man towards his creator and he says then
[46:07]a few more are also concerned with questions of ethics and then
[46:11]all of the rest are concerned with social economic legal and political
[46:17]matters when you look at the rise of the Imam one of
[46:21]the things that is so clear is that if there is oppression
[46:24]taking place on the face of this Earth if you see Muslims
[46:30]that are being hurt that are being killed then you have a
[46:32]duty to stand up you can't say that this has nothing to
[46:36]do with me I'm going to go and I'm going to pray
[46:38]and I'm going to fast and Allah is going to deal with
[46:43]that that's something for Allah today when you look at what is
[46:46]taking place in Philistine I've seen many people they say that I'm
[46:50]not willing to say anything you know if I say something I
[46:54]have a nice job I have a position in the societ I
[46:58]have all of these things that I have worked for year after
[47:01]year after year if I say something God forbid I'm going to
[47:04]lose and I'm going to lose everything now we're not asking anyone
[47:09]to be foolish in the way that they approach things Islam says
[47:12]that you should be measured in the way that you deal with
[47:15]issues but if you are afraid today to say a simple word
[47:21]about what is happening in Philistine if I am afraid that if
[47:27]I say something I'm going to lose this cushy lifestyle then is
[47:30]it possible that when my IM returns I'm going to have the
[47:37]same behavior towards my Imam something very scary when you think about
[47:43]and then you bring it to the year 2024 and you ask
[47:49]yourself the question that if I was there in that situation today
[47:52]and I was asked to sacrifice would I sacrifice in the cause
[47:56]of my IM or would I be just like everyone else that
[48:00]goes with the float so this is also a very important and
[48:04]by the way there is a tradition and this tradition it gets
[48:08]me every time that the one who wakes up in the morning
[48:18]he rises in the morning and he's not concerned with the Affairs
[48:25]of the Muslims he doesn't do really care he says alhamdulillah I
[48:28]have a nice job I have a nice house I don't really
[48:33]care about what is going on with others whether in my own
[48:35]Community or whether around the world I just don't care his heart
[48:39]is empty of that he's not concerned he says that he is
[48:46]not from us he is not from one of the Muslims that
[48:50]in essence he says this individual who doesn't care he's left the
[48:54]fold of Islam practically speaking inshallah this is another question reason number
[49:01]seven and inshallah this will be the final reason for tonight when
[49:07]we mourn we remember that the one that connects to Allah subhanahu
[49:13]wa taala he becomes Eternal and he becomes Immortal and the one
[49:18]who connects to the issues of this D no matter how much
[49:24]power he accumulates no matter what he gains in this world eventually
[49:28]he finds that his name is completely forgotten a few days ago
[49:36]I was looking at an Instagram story and this brother had gone
[49:40]to do Zara of course it was a different kind of Zara
[49:43]but he had gone to do Zara in Syria and he had
[49:48]decided that he wanted to go and he wanted to visit the
[49:51]shrine of muaah so he goes and he says that there was
[49:55]a graveyard where they said that the grave of muaah is found
[50:02]within this area so he says I looked up and down down
[50:06]and up left and right I went everywhere trying to find this
[50:09]grave and it seems like no one wanted to tell him they
[50:11]probably realized that he was Iranian and what he was going to
[50:15]do that no one was willing to tell me where the grave
[50:17]of muya was located he says eventually after a lot of difficulty
[50:23]I realized that there was a certain spot which was was the
[50:29]grave of mua and he actually was videotaping he goes up to
[50:32]the grave and he says I was really surprised that when I
[50:35]went up to the Grave I saw that there was not just
[50:41]one bar of iron I don't know if you've ever seen in
[50:43]a prison they have the rows of fencing and iron that prevents
[50:49]people from escaping he says there was not just one bar there
[50:52]was three bars and it was so thick that you really couldn't
[50:57]see the inside of the grave now what's interesting is that during
[51:01]the time of maaah at the height of his power what does
[51:06]mu do he tries to crush the name of ALB and he
[51:12]does everything in his power how can I remove the name of
[51:17]alali from the hearts of the Believers and one of the things
[51:20]that he does one of the things that he does he institutes
[51:26]the official cursing of aliali during every official prayer throughout the Muslim
[51:32]world I want you to imagine this every Friday prayer that the
[51:37]Muslims would go to for decades one of the parts and Parcels
[51:44]of the religious practices of it was to curse ALB every Eid
[51:52]prayer that you would go the again he was Duty bound to
[51:58]curse the name of Al Talib to slander the name of Al
[52:00]Talib and this was official policy for 60 or 70 years until
[52:05]it was eventually removed that should have been enough to remove any
[52:11]trace of Love of from the hearts of the people many people
[52:16]they wonder that how in the world after all of that propaganda
[52:19]after all of the that were fabricated all of the things that
[52:25]are said how in the world does the name of Ali still
[52:27]remain in the hearts of the people and then you juxtapose the
[52:35]position of muaah today that his Shrine or his grave they have
[52:39]to protect muaah from the hatred of the Muslims and by the
[52:44]way the reason why I had the three levels of bars was
[52:48]that the Believers would go and they would throw trash into the
[52:51]grave of mua this was one of the practices so they were
[52:54]trying to prevent and it become such an issue that every couple
[52:58]of days they had to go and clean up the grave they
[53:00]eventually came to the realization that they have to do something to
[53:06]prevent all the trash from being thrown today you go to the
[53:08]shrine of look at how many people are surrounding the grave of
[53:15]Ali you see the one who connects to Allah he becomes Immortal
[53:22]he becomes Eternal his memory cannot be removed no matter how much
[53:26]human beings with however much power however much should they try and
[53:32]we similarly we look at the story of yazid and we compare
[53:34]it with the story of IM Al Hussein during the time you
[53:37]all know the story that Imam Hussein he is murdered he is
[53:42]murdered with all of his companions his family is taken as captives
[53:46]they are paraded in humiliation from one Muslim City to another Muslim
[53:51]City and during that time period it looked as if Imam Hussein
[53:56]had been completely defeated today I want you to find any trace
[54:02]of yazid we don't even know where he's buried he is such
[54:05]a hated figure that we don't even know where his grave is
[54:08]And yet when we look at Imam Hussein we find that everyone
[54:13]has gathered around and not only have they gathered around the physical
[54:17]Shrine but we see inspiration taking place from the movement of the
[54:21]Imam the name of Imam Hussein has become Eternal you know today
[54:26]when you look at every movement that is actually standing with the
[54:31]oppressed people of Palestine you see that they are the same people
[54:34]who are remembering the name of Imam Al Hussein these were a
[54:40]few reasons inshallah I hope that it was of some benefit I
[54:44]wanted to end tonight's program with a few points just to add
[54:49]on and that was that when the month of muharam arrives sometimes
[54:53]we don't think too much about it we just attend the program
[54:56]and we we weep and we mourn and we commemorate I wanted
[55:01]to give a few points of advice inshallah on some things which
[55:07]can enhance and allow our I during this month to become Next
[55:10]Level the first thing whenever you see the beginning of the month
[55:16]of muharam and this applies to every holy month and every holy
[55:18]time is that you should always enter the month by doing and
[55:25]I don't just mean by say saying I don't mean by verbally
[55:31]doing what I mean by this is that when you enter the
[55:35]month of muharam one of the things that we should all do
[55:39]is we should seek forgiveness from Allah from all of our past
[55:44]mistakes seriously that we turn towards Allah we say yaah Allah this
[55:49]individual that I am today I'm not happy with who I am
[55:54]I'm ashamed of who I am I've committed mistakes I haven't done
[55:58]all of the things that you wanted me to do and so
[55:59]that that that we do it should be something that comes from
[56:05]the depths of our heart that we really ask yaah Allah please
[56:09]take all of the mistakes that I have made fix all of
[56:13]these issues so that when I enter into the month of muharam
[56:15]and when I am shedding tears over abdah I am shedding tears
[56:19]with a pure heart with a heart that is not saddled with
[56:24]sins this is number one that our Toba is something which is
[56:31]very sincere during this month number two and this is such an
[56:34]important thing is that when we enter into the holy month of
[56:36]muharam we should ask ourselves this question who is it that I
[56:44]want to become as religious people we enter into the month of
[56:48]Ramadan we enter into the month of muharam with a very vague
[56:54]idea of the person that we want to be when the month
[56:56]ends when the ends and often times when we enter and we
[57:00]have a very fuzzy idea of who we want to become we
[57:04]end up leaving the month with really nothing changing within us yes
[57:08]we cry and we are affected but as soon as the month
[57:12]changes we tend to go back to the same person that we
[57:16]were before the month began and so it's very important that each
[57:19]and every one of us we sit down even take pen and
[57:23]paper and ask yourself this question what are my weaknesses what are
[57:29]my strengths what are the things that in this ash in this
[57:33]month in this two months what are the things that I want
[57:35]to see change Within Myself and begin to practically map that out
[57:42]that these are the issues that I have and these are the
[57:43]ways in which I am going to change myself often times when
[57:48]we write the Practical steps it really helps us and it really
[57:51]allows us to achieve that end goal I'll give a very simple
[57:55]example if someone has an issue with being generous you know sometimes
[57:59]we have this problem being generous we don't want to give towards
[58:02]the cause of Allah if we have this issue one of the
[58:06]ways that we could do it is we could say to ourselves
[58:08]every single day during the ash I'm going to set an amount
[58:13]aside and I'm going to donate that amount in the way of
[58:16]Allah whether there's orphanages whatever it may be I'm going to donate
[58:19]that amount and so you make it a daily habit you break
[58:24]it into little bits and pieces that are easier for you you
[58:28]to handle and so it's the same with anything else if you
[58:30]have for example a goal of praying I want to really begin
[58:36]to do Sal regularly but it's really hard to wake up and
[58:39]it's difficult and I'm tired at the end of the night just
[58:44]tell yourself one thing I will only do one Raa make it
[58:47]very easy for yourself don't say I'm going to do all 11
[58:50]raas say I'm going to start for the sake of Imam Hussein
[58:52]I'm going to start with one single Raa how many minutes is
[58:57]that takes one minute I'm going to take one minute out of
[58:59]this 24 hours that Allah has given me how can we say
[59:03]no to that one minute we make it difficult upon ourselves to
[59:06]say no to those actions and so this is very important map
[59:11]out what you want to do what you want to achieve who
[59:12]you want to be and inshallah you will achieve that step by
[59:18]step by step and the third and the final point for tonight
[59:21]is avoid dun as much as possible now many of you are
[59:28]going to say but I'm not involved in har and inshallah that
[59:31]is the case alhamdulillah that is the case that for the most
[59:35]part the Believers we don't have issues with for example Haram income
[59:39]right there's no issue with Haram money that is coming our way
[59:43]but one of the advice that the they give they say that
[59:48][Music] even can sometimes take you away from Imam Hussein it can
[59:55]take you away from Allah and by that we all have things
[60:01]that we enjoy doing we have hobbies we have things that maybe
[60:04]we love a little bit too much even though it's perfectly Halal
[60:08]there's nothing wrong with it but it's a good habit that at
[60:12]least for these 10 nights at least for this period of mam
[60:15]we make it a habit where we say look for this period
[60:19]I'm not going to look up any videos on YouTube I'm not
[60:23]going to research I'm not going to think about it I'm going
[60:25]to set that piece of D that I love within myself I'm
[60:29]going to set it aside for the sake of and so using
[60:35]these steps inshallah we can really achieve a higher level of closeness
[60:39]to Allah subhana wa ta'ala during this holy month of muhar may
[60:43]Allah inshallah Elevate all of your ranks and may He accept all
[60:48]of your acts of worship inshallah muh muhad mamed muhamad so inshallah
[61:36]before we begin our mjus uh we just want to share a

[69:09]sweeps don't you know she cries for Hussein year after year don't
[69:25]you hear her EO in the sky for my H my tear
[69:41]never D my son hus my son husse was killed in a
[70:00]desolate place my son husse was alone without My Embrace they butchered
[70:22]him they butchered him [Music] they butchered him without Grace from behind
[70:39]from the spine IM Hussein they cut his head from the spine
[70:43]from behind blood and Sand cloaked his face and with FAA with
[71:03]Thea with FAA we always [Music] mour and with the m as
[71:19]his heart is stor it's our IM says in his Zar of
[71:26]ab abdah he says he will shed instead of Tears blood for
[71:30]the M of IM Hussein with the F we always mourn and
[71:44]with the m as his heart is storn for his grandfather and
[71:55]G if he sworn to avenge his death when his [Applause] light
[72:07]is [Music] born hus [Music] [Music] IM Hussein is the door of
[72:47]Mercy to Allah he is often described as that and Allah subhanahu
[72:54]wa ta'ala has put a great opportunity of forgiveness and mercy through
[73:02]Imam Hussein and Prophet Muhammad has described him as sa the ship
[73:08]of Salvation the ship of safety once a poet was visiting Al
[73:16]IM reciting poems poems of aah for Imam Hussein and Al Imam
[73:26]sad would cry and he he would tell him to continue and
[73:31]to keep reciting then when the finished said a person who recites
[73:51]poetry for Imam hussein.
[73:54]and he C cries and makes 10 people with him cry then
[74:01]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will decree for him then the Imam said
[74:08]no if a person cries and makes five people cry then Allah
[74:14]will give him Jenna then he said whoever recites poetry and cries
[74:20]and makes one other person cry for Imam Hussein am Allah subhanahu
[74:28]wa taala will give him jenah then the IM said If a
[74:32]person recites poetry and cries alone for Imam Hussein then Allah will
[74:40]be sure to give him a reward and it will not be
[74:45]less than Jenna and in other Hadith if a person is to
[74:51]shed one tear that's as big as the wing of a fly
[74:53]for Imam Hussein am then Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will forgive their
[75:00]sins why what is this secret maybe only Allah subhanahu wa taala
[75:07]and know the Deep true secret of the value of crying for
[75:13]Imam Hussein and This Magnificent reward but one thing we can tell
[75:22]and know for sure is that the tears for Imam Hussein rejuvenate
[75:26]the heart and revive the spirit and they bring us closer to
[75:31]Allah and illuminate our hearts and our Spirits as well and we
[75:39]see that in ashur for example people who are religious and not
[75:45]religious they gravitate towards Imam Hussein Salam and amongst the community we
[75:54]notice that there there is through the majalis and through the shared
[75:59]love of Imam Hussein the hearts come closer together we greet each
[76:03]other more warmly more passionately we see the good in others before
[76:10]we see any of the things that we do not like it's
[76:15]easier to forgive we're able to give more even if it's tired
[76:18]even if it's hard even if there is hardship and sometimes I
[76:24]see the sisters when they give when they're making on any other
[76:30]day no one would spend the amount of time and effort in
[76:32]labor that but for Imam Hussein they're willing to do it for
[76:35]multiple nights and the brothers and this is the Barak of the
[76:42]IM this is because attends with us in this tradition of upholding
[76:51]the majalis of Imam Hussein that rejuvenate the heart and the faith
[76:55]and the spirit and the connection with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala did
[76:59]not start out of nowhere and it did not start with anyone
[77:07]this started with there are many instances there are several recorded Hadith
[77:16]in which foretells about the tragedy that will Beall Imam Hussein after
[77:24]the prophet dies and he cries and these a Hadith are found
[77:27]and confirmed in the books of all Muslims not just the Shia
[77:33]and there are other a Hadith where Prophet Muhammad describes the love
[77:39]he has for Imam Hussein in one of them he says Hussein
[77:43]is of me and I am of Hussein Allah loves those who
[77:51]love Hussein and in another Hadith the prophet says speaking of IM
[77:59]imin these two are my sons and the sons of my daughter
[78:07]Allah I love them so love those who love them and the
[78:14]prophet also says alassan Hussein are The Fragrant flowers are my fragrant
[78:27]flowers in this D and brothers and sisters there's another R where
[78:33]once prophet Muhammed was visiting the house of and he had Imam
[78:44]Hussein he was carrying him and then he puts him down and
[78:48]he goes into suud and he begins to cry then he says
[78:58]yeah Fatima Allah subhanahu wa taala revealed to me in this hour
[79:02]in the most beautiful way in this hour in your house and
[79:09]he said oh Muhammad do you love Hussein and the prophet replies
[79:14]yes he is the Delight of my eyes my fragrant flower the
[79:18]fruit of my heart and the skin between my eyes Subhan Allah
[79:25]if rasool Allah loved him him this much we are bound to
[79:28]love the Imam this much and to have this type of everlasting
[79:33]love that brings us to him year after year and makes us
[79:37]cry for him year after year in another R it's narrated that
[79:41]when im Hussein was an infant Prophet Muhammad took him from say
[79:49]Fatima and held him then he says may God curse your Killers
[79:52]may God curse those who will rob you of your clothes may
[79:59]God destroy those who will band against you and may God be
[80:06]the judge between me and those who Aid in killing you say
[80:11]she says father Muhammad what are you saying he says yeah Fatima
[80:18]I know of the oppression the injury the Betrayal and the T
[80:22]and the Tyranny that will befall him after me and you that
[80:27]day he will be amongst a group which are like stars eager
[80:33]to die and he's describing the asab of IM Hussein who will
[80:36]be with him and B who will be with him he says
[80:40]they will be like the stars then the prophet says I am
[80:45]looking at their Camp he sees their position in carala and the
[80:48]place in which they will rest and its soil Fatima says Where
[80:55]will the this be he says in a place called in a
[81:02]Land of sorrow and tribulations for us and for our umah the
[81:08]most the most evil amongst this um will descend upon him they
[81:17]will never be forgiven and they shall reside in Hell Fire then
[81:23]the prophet explains to say the Fatima more he says he will
[81:29]be killed in a way that no one before him has ever
[81:32]been killed in the skies and the Earth will weep for him
[81:39]along with the angels the animals the whales and the mountains then
[81:44]he says if the Earth is permitted no one will stay alive
[81:48]on the Earth from its wrath for what happens to Imam Hussein
[81:52]but then he says Allah subhanahu waala will make a people that
[81:58]will form around IM Hussein and they will remember him he's describing
[82:04]us the lovers of the Imam he says they will be like
[82:11]lanterns in dark times and they will arrive to my spring in
[82:15]paradise and I will know them by their faes and in another
[82:23]narration was telling say Fatima about these same calamities so she weeps
[82:30]and she says yah Allah who will uphold theah of IM Hussein
[82:35]he says Allah has created for him a nation of lovers who
[82:43]will mourn him and uphold his name generation after generation but there's
[82:48]more right he says ya Fatima on the day of judgment I
[82:52]will take the hands of their man and you will take the
[82:58]hands of their woman and we will welcome them into [Music] Paradise
[83:06]brothers and sisters you have to know that we are in the
[83:11]of we are in the MJ and the m and the presence
[83:18]of and and IM who cries for IM Hussein every day instead
[83:28]of Tears drops of [Music] blood accept our tears and our consolation
[83:42]for the tragedy of your beloved husse but Allah I ask you
[83:52]you look tobala Allah subhanahu wa taala showed you carala you saw
[83:57]the IM what will happen to him how he will be killed
[84:01]where he will be buried where the lovers will flock to him
[84:07]year after year and then you told say Fatima and when she
[84:11]heard it she began to weep Yool Allah what would have happened
[84:17]had she been in carala watching and witnessing what happened to her
[84:24]beloved Hussein what would she have done if she saw her son
[84:31][Music] Hussein cut with the swords pierced with the spears covered in
[84:42][Music] arrows thirsty and tired and worst of all afraid for Zab
[84:53]and his daughters would her heart bear to see the Blessed head
[84:59]of hus forgive us would her heart bear to see the heart
[85:06]of Imam Hussein raised on a spear suffered from the spine would
[85:20]her heart bear to hear the sound of the hor hor His
[85:28]Ho crushing his bones why because after they killed Imam Hussein and
[85:34]cut his head in carala then they took the body and they
[85:40]brought the horses and then they trampled the body of IM Hussein
[85:44]with the [Music] horses had she been kbal she would have shed
[85:55]tear and after tear for husse as if she would have spoken
[86:02]to Imam Hussein these [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] verses they killed
[86:17]you without Mercy [Music] I cried for you from your infancy this
[86:33]is a mother speaking to her son but no this is say
[86:38]Fatima the best of woman speaking to Imam Hussein the master of
[86:43]the man of paradise you were the light of my eyes for
[86:53]you I we tears and [Music] cries how kind you were How
[87:05]brave and wise tell me hus tell me of the arrows in
[87:22]your chest tell me how they made the face so blessed tell
[87:34]me how the baby bled on your head tell me how tell
[87:51]me how [Music] fell into the sand tell me [Music] howed when

[88:52]me how they broke your back when my son abas did not
[89:09]come [Laughter] [Applause] [Music] Backus husin [Music] then say Fatima addresses our
[89:29]IM to [Applause] the I raise my [Music] pain then he will
[89:43]come and avenge your name to the Mah I call and thewait
[89:52]him to rise may he raise your banner and heal my cries
[90:03]for when he comes his army will March towards carala towards scal
