[33:08]merciful, the one who has created everything in utmost perfection.
[33:14]And may the peace and blessings of the almighty God be upon
[33:18]his pure and beloved messenger, the peak of his creation, the symbol
[33:25]of humanity, prophet Muhammad sallall.aii and his immaculate progeny of the peace
[33:38]be upon them, especially the leader of our time, the awaited savior,
[33:46]Alm.
[33:54]May Allah hasten his reappearance and make us all amongst his sincere
[34:01]and dedicated servants.
[34:02]Respected, first of all, it is my great honor to be visiting
[34:15]your community here at Ali Center for the first time.
[34:19]I ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to bless this community.
[34:24]I ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to fill this community with the
[34:31]of Muhammad and al Muhammad.
[34:38]Secondly, I extend to you my sincerest condolences on the martyrdom of
[34:47]lady.
[34:53]>> There are two narrations about her death and martyrdom.
[34:59]One narration is that she passed away.
[35:03]She was martyed 75 days after the departure of the prophet sallallahu
[35:08]alaihi wasallam.
[35:11]That's one narration.
[35:12]The second narration, primary narration states 95 days.
[35:18]So there's a difference of 20 days between these two narrations.
[35:23]And many communities they commemorate her legacy and her martyrdom on these
[35:29]two dates.
[35:31]Even though many communities they give more prominence and significance to the
[35:40]second narration.
[35:40]Therefore, we have gathered tonight to honor this lady to know her
[35:49]legacy and to ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to grant us her
[35:55]shaf.
[35:54]Allah subhana wa ta'ala states in the holy Quran in surah One
[36:13]of the reasons of creation why Allah subhana wa ta'ala created us
[36:21]is to try us to see who comes with the best of
[36:24]deeds with the best of actions.
[36:28]This is the philosophy of this life.
[36:31]And when you look at the legacy of this honorable lady, you
[36:38]find that her trial was the greatest of all trials.
[36:44]Her trial was so significant such that we have in one of
[36:53]her zaras the zara of zah narrated by al jawad unlike any
[37:06]other z you know how this z begins normally when you do
[37:11]the zara of the imams you put your heart at peace peace
[37:15]you say or if you're visiting with peace be upon you oh
[37:34]trustee of Allah on earth when you begin with salam you put
[37:37]your heart at ease but when it comes to the z of
[37:43]fat al im jawad does not begin with the salam.
[37:48]You know how he begins?
[37:51]Oh tested one.
[37:55]Oh tried one.
[37:56]When you read this statement, your heart is now at unease.
[38:03]Your heart is now wrenching.
[38:07]You're visiting Fatima Alam, but you're remembering her tragedies, her trials, her
[38:15]difficulties.
[38:14]And in doing so, Im Jawad Alam is highlighting the pain and
[38:21]the suffering that she went through.
[38:23]And he says something very profound.
[38:26]He says, "Oh, profound statement by the ninth im.
[38:42]He says, "Oh tested one, Allah who created you tested you before
[38:47]he created you and he found you to be patient.
[38:50]How great is Fatam such that before Allah created her, he was
[38:56]so sure that she would make the effort to pass the test.
[39:01]So it's as if he already tested her.
[39:03]It's as if Allah is telling us before I created Fatma, I
[39:06]had so much trust in her that she would be the best
[39:11]of the best.
[39:13]It's as if I've already tried her before creating her.
[39:15]That's the status of Lady Fatam.
[39:23]It revolves around trials, difficulty.
[39:27]Now many of us we are aware that this dunya this world
[39:32]is a place of trials and normally we have discussions on trials
[39:37]and how to be patient but tonight I would like to share
[39:46]with you a very critical dimension of divine trials.
[39:49]This is a dimension that we normally overlook.
[39:54]But it is this dimension that will determine our success in this
[40:00]world and on the day of judgment.
[40:03]Therefore, it's very critical that we understand how the divine trial works
[40:08]for us.
[40:10]And in order for us to better understand how the divine trial
[40:17]works, we have to see how Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tried his
[40:24]creations from day one of creation.
[40:27]You find a common theme in divine trials.
[40:32]That common theme is that divine trials come in unexpected ways.
[40:42]Let's see how by looking at the history of divine trials and
[40:48]apply that to our modern life so we can succeed inshallah in
[40:54]our divine trials and then we'll see the inspiration that we get
[40:59]from lady fat.
[41:00]Let's begin with the beginning of creation.
[41:04]When Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala decides to create Prophet Adam as the
[41:11]first modern human being, something unexpected happens.
[41:17]The angels are worshiping God for many many years.
[41:22]And we know that the angels are very pure creations of Allah.
[41:29]They never say no to Allah.
[41:30]They always execute every command that Allah gives them.
[41:36]So now the angels are aware of their status.
[41:39]We are pure creations of God.
[41:44]We always obey Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[41:44]We never say no.
[41:47]Suddenly Allah does something unexpected.
[41:52]Suddenly he creates this blob of clay.
[41:58]From the outside it looks worthless.
[42:02]Imagine clay.
[42:03]Is there anything special about clay?
[42:06]It's just dirt from the earth.
[42:08]Allah creates this blob of clay.
[42:12]And suddenly he tells the angels, I plan to create a khalifa,
[42:19]a representative on earth and I command you all angels to prostrate
[42:27]to that being Adam.
[42:32]This shocked the angels.
[42:35]Suddenly this blob of clay called Adam is now the center of
[42:42]attention in the universe.
[42:44]Wait a minute.
[42:46]I wasn't expecting that.
[42:47]I thought maybe one of us angels would be distinguished like one
[42:53]of these angels that would be expected Allah to distinguish them and
[42:58]to have a ceremony for them in the heavens.
[43:01]But now this creature that's made from dirt, from clay, suddenly this
[43:09]creature is so special.
[43:10]We've been worshiping God for thousand thousands of years.
[43:14]We've been around for a long time.
[43:16]And suddenly out of nowhere, this creation pops into existence and God
[43:21]tells us prostrate to it.
[43:22]Initially the angels had difficulty accepting that.
[43:27]That's why they initially objected to Allah.
[43:30]They said we are the ones purifying you meaning worshiping you raising
[43:37]you above anything as the Quran states and you create this creation
[43:48]that looks like these other humanlike figures.
[43:51]All they did is just kill one another on earth and spread
[43:59]corruption.
[43:57]and now you want us to prostrate to this thing.
[44:02]Initially they had trouble accepting that but that was their test and
[44:11]trial.
[44:08]Allah tried them in an unexpected way.
[44:12]Now because they're angels at the end of the day they accepted.
[44:18]El is the one who couldn't accept that.
[44:22]Why is this Adam getting more attention from Allah than me?
[44:29]I've been worshiping Allah for thousands of years.
[44:33]As some hadith statel before he showed his deviation, he did a
[44:38]sujud that lasted for 4,000 years.
[44:44]One hadith says 6,000 years.
[44:44]So he was expecting recognition.
[44:47]Suddenly Adam gets the recognition.
[44:51]No, no, no.
[44:51]He couldn't take that.
[44:52]Allah tried him in an unexpected way and he failed.
[44:57]So you see from the beginning of creation Allah subhana wa ta'ala
[45:01]tries his creations and tests them in unexpected ways and that's the
[45:08]real test because if you want to see the submission of someone
[45:11]you try them in a way that they're not expecting it then
[45:15]you can see their full submission or not.
[45:18]and then come to the history of our prophets.
[45:22]You'll find that those nations who failed their tests, generally speaking, they
[45:29]failed because they were not expecting the divine trial to be in
[45:37]that specific way.
[45:37]They were not ready.
[45:39]They didn't prepare themselves properly.
[45:41]So, they failed.
[45:42]Look at the case of Prophet Misam and his people.
[45:46]According to the Quran, how many years did he spend with his
[45:52]people before the flood?
[45:52]950 according to the Quran.
[45:56]Have you ever wondered why after 950 years very few people believed
[46:01]in him?
[46:03]According to our hadiths, about 80 people believed in him.
[46:07]What's the problem?
[46:09]What was the matter with those people?
[46:11]You have a great prophet.
[46:12]He's eloquent.
[46:14]He's pure.
[46:16]He's humble.
[46:15]He has all the good qualities.
[46:17]Why did most people reject him?
[46:21]You have to look at the nature of the divine trial that
[46:24]they had to go through.
[46:27]You know how Allah tested the people of prophet N.
[46:30]Initially prophet Nuisam had a large following.
[46:33]Many people in in his community followed him.
[46:38]They respected him.
[46:40]Then you had a group of evil people giving them a hard
[46:46]time, mocking them, attacking them.
[46:48]They were fed up.
[46:50]So they come to Prophet Nuisam and they tell him when is
[46:54]God going to send his punishment on these evil people?
[46:57]He said, "Let me ask Allah." So when revelation descended on, he
[47:04]asked Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[47:06]The revelation said the following.
[47:10]Allah answered them.
[47:10]Prophet N told them, "This is what Allah tells me." He says,
[47:13]"Go and bring the seed of a palm tree, plant it, let
[47:21]it grow.
[47:23]Once it becomes a mature tree and it produces dates, then I'll
[47:28]send the punishment and I'll destroy them." How long does it take
[47:34]for a palm tree to mature and give you fruits?
[47:38]On average, 10 to 14 years.
[47:40]That's the average.
[47:43]They went with excitement.
[47:46]They planted the tree, nurturing the tree, watering the tree.
[47:50]As the tree is growing, those believers, they're eager to see how
[47:57]God is going to punish the bad ones.
[48:00]Everyone had hope.
[48:00]Things looked good.
[48:03]Now 10 to 14 years later, the tree matured.
[48:07]It started to produce dates.
[48:10]Everyone's excited.
[48:11]Now the and the punishment of Allah is going to destroy these
[48:16]evil people.
[48:17]Well, guess what happened?
[48:19]Nothing.
[48:22]The tree produced the dates, but the punishment didn't come down.
[48:28]So they went to Alisam.
[48:29]They told him, Wasn't there a promise that God would destroy these
[48:34]people?
[48:34]Look at the tree.
[48:35]It's giving dates.
[48:36]He said, "Let me ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[48:40]I don't act on my own." Revelation came down saying, "Allah subhanahu
[48:45]wa ta'ala extended it for another tree that you plant, another 10
[48:55]years." Now, this was not a lie.
[48:56]Sometimes you're not given the full picture.
[49:00]Yes, these people deserve punishment, but Allah subhana t can postpone punishment.
[49:04]Sometimes I commit a sin, I deserve to be punished right now,
[49:10]but maybe I do a good deed.
[49:11]Maybe someone does dua for me.
[49:12]Allah says, "Okay, I'll postpone it." This is not a lie.
[49:16]This is not the breaking of a promise.
[49:18]It's a trial by not telling them the full picture because you're
[49:22]testing them.
[49:22]This is for instance like your child.
[49:24]Let's say your child does something bad.
[49:27]You tell him, "If you do this one more time, I'm going
[49:30]to ground you for a week." Your child breaks your law one
[49:37]more time, does something bad one more time.
[49:38]But then you tell your child, "Okay, I'll give you one last
[49:43]chance." Is that a lie?
[49:44]No, that's not a lie.
[49:47]That's giving your child another chance.
[49:49]Allah decided to give the disbelievers, the bad ones, another chance.
[49:54]You see, Allah is not like us who wants to immediately destroy
[49:57]people who do bad.
[49:59]Allah is patient.
[50:01]So can you imagine what happened to the people of Prophet Nuisam.
[50:06]They divided into three categories.
[50:09]One category disbelieved.
[50:12]I'm not going to believe in you anymore.
[50:16]I was waiting 10 14 years to see those guys getting destroyed.
[50:19]Nothing happened.
[50:21]Forget it.
[50:20]They disbelieved.
[50:22]they become kufur.
[50:25]The second group, they were hypocrites.
[50:26]They're like, you know what?
[50:30]We don't really believe in no anymore, but let's act like we
[50:33]believe because we don't know how this is going to go.
[50:37]Maybe the punishment will come down.
[50:39]And then a group of people, they remained as they're like, "No,
[50:44]no is truthful and we've seen the miracles from him.
[50:48]We trust him.
[50:48]If Allah extends the punishment, he postpones it.
[50:52]Fine.
[50:53]We accept that.
[50:53]Well, guess what happened?
[50:54]They plant a new seed.
[50:58]The tree grows.
[50:57]What happens again?
[51:01]Nothing.
[51:01]Unexpected.
[51:02]See, people were not expecting that.
[51:04]So, the pool of believers became smaller.
[51:08]According to our hadiths, you know how many times that happened?
[51:13]Seven times.
[51:13]They plant a tree, it grows, it produces the dates, nothing happens.
[51:18]That's about a hundred years.
[51:20]You see now why how very few people believed in prophet nuisam
[51:26]because the divine trial was unexpected to them and then later after
[51:33]a 100 years finally the punishment comes down the flood comes and
[51:37]it destroys the evil ones.
[51:39]This is a lesson in the way that divine trials work.
[51:45]They come in unexpected ways.
[51:47]And this happened with every prophet.
[51:50]Prophet Musam.
[51:52]You know what was the test of Bi is after Allah saved
[51:55]them from the Pharaoh and he drowned the Pharaoh and he split
[52:00]the sea for them and they saw all these miracles.
[52:02]They crossed the sea.
[52:05]They were behaving so far.
[52:09]MS tells them, "I have an appointment with Allah to go and
[52:13]receive the Torah.
[52:14]To go and receive revelation." MS told them, "For how long would
[52:20]he be gone?" 30 days.
[52:22]Where does Allah state that?
[52:22]In the Holy Quran in verse 142.
[52:30]And we promised MS.
[52:33]We set an appointment 30 days.
[52:35]MS goes, he tells his people, I'm going for 30 days and
[52:40]I'm coming back.
[52:42]What happened?
[52:45]Allah says, I extended it another 10 days during those 30 days.
[52:52]Benny is they were behaving.
[52:55]They weren't worshiping the golden calf.
[52:58]They were behaving because they saw the miracles.
[53:00]MS told him, "I'll be back 30 days." 30 days came.
[53:07]Nothing happened.
[53:08]Where's MS?
[53:09]He's He didn't show up.
[53:12]The next day, the 31st day, where is MS?
[53:15]He's not there.
[53:16]So, they started to doubt.
[53:19]Oh, maybe he died.
[53:19]Oh, this.
[53:21]Oh, that.
[53:22]They Everyone came up with their theories.
[53:23]And then the Samir comes and he brings them the golden calf
[53:28]and they start to worship the golden calf.
[53:32]That all happened in those 10 days.
[53:35]But this was how Allah wanted to test them by trying them
[53:37]in an unexpected way.
[53:41]What?
[53:41]Just because MS didn't come back 30 days later, you commit?
[53:45]You go back to idol worshiing.
[53:46]Is that your true iman?
[53:49]That's why they failed their test.
[53:53]You see the nature of divine trials they come in unexpected ways
[53:59]and this is exactly what happened at the time of prophet Muhammad
[54:07]sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
[54:12]>> This is what happened with the Jewish community in Medina.
[54:16]Do you know why the Jews had gathered around the city of
[54:19]Medina?
[54:20]What brought them to Medina?
[54:22]Medina is pretty far from Jerusalem, from Palestine.
[54:26]Why did they go south so much after the Exodus and after
[54:34]the fall of the temple?
[54:35]Why?
[54:36]You know why?
[54:38]They had read in their scriptures that the prophet, the last prophet
[54:42]of the end of times is going to emerge between the mountains
[54:48]of Mecca and Medina.
[54:49]This was written in their scriptures.
[54:50]So they said, "Let's go and live in that area.
[54:55]So when this final prophet comes, we follow him, we support him,
[54:59]and we'll be the greatest of all nations." You know, that was
[55:03]their intention.
[55:03]That's why they came to Medina.
[55:06]And the Quran in Surah Bakar verse 89 tells us that when
[55:12]the Jews had trouble with the pagans because the pagans gave them
[55:16]a hard time.
[55:19]The pagans did not accept one God, prophet Musa, prophet, you know,
[55:23]all these prophet Daw and they didn't accept them.
[55:26]They really give the Jews a hard time in terms of their
[55:29]beliefs.
[55:30]The Quran states [clears throat] You know how the Jews kept themselves
[55:38]patient in Medina with these pagans?
[55:41]They would say it's okay.
[55:44]Let us be patient.
[55:44]Soon the final prophet will come.
[55:47]We'll support him and he will overcome all these pagans.
[55:53]That's how they gave themselves patience.
[55:55]What happened?
[55:57]He came.
[56:00]He surely came.
[56:00]They were expecting the final messenger to come from which line?
[56:07]Which line?
[56:09]The beni is because they were used to having prophet, prophet daw,
[56:14]prophet ms, all these prophets, they come from the line of from
[56:21]the line of so they thought this final prophet is going to
[56:26]be one of them.
[56:29]Someone from their tribes and they were willing to follow him.
[56:33]Suddenly this final prophet is from who?
[56:37]From the Arab ancestry.
[56:38]He's from the descendants of Is not the descendants of Isab.
[56:43]They rejected.
[56:45]They're like, "No, if you were from the descendants of Ised you,
[56:50]but now that you're a descendant of Isma, we're not interested." You
[56:55]see how Allah tried them?
[56:57]Because that was unexpected for them.
[56:58]And to make up excuses, you know what they said?
[57:02]They came to the prophet.
[57:03]They told him, "This angel who's bringing you this Quran and Revelation,
[57:09]who is he?
[57:08]Is he Mika or is heel?
[57:13]He told him, "No, this is Jirel." They're like, "No, we're not
[57:19]interested.
[57:17]If it was Mika, we would have accepted.
[57:20]But because it's we don't want to do anything with because used
[57:27]to bring punishments down on us.
[57:29]Whereas Mik used to intercede for us.
[57:34]And so they showed enmity to knowing he's an angel by the
[57:41]way.
[57:41]Subhan Allah.
[57:40]That's why the Quran says those who have enmity to that's how
[57:48]they failed their test.
[57:50]They came there to support the prophet of their time.
[57:53]But because they did not expect the prophet to be from another
[57:59]descent and ancestry, they rejected him.
[58:03]This has been the test of human beings throughout history.
[58:09]And even if you analyze the circumstances of and the circumstances of
[58:20]why Im Hussein was betrayed, you will see that it goes down
[58:24]to this factor.
[58:26]It boils down to this unexpected factor.
[58:28]Have you ever wondered why so many people betrayed Imam Hussein?
[58:33]Why is it because people are scared to die?
[58:40]Look, people are willing to die.
[58:43]Atheists are willing to die.
[58:47]Christians are willing to die.
[58:48]Muslims are willing to die.
[58:49]Look at in look at Russia and Ukraine today.
[58:52]Hundreds of people get killed every day.
[58:56]People are willing to die.
[58:58]People believe in something, they're willing to die for that something.
[59:03]Everywhere in the world, people are willing to die.
[59:05]So what was the problem at the time of Imam Hussein?
[59:09]That very few people supported him.
[59:11]Is it because they're not willing to die in sacrifice?
[59:17]That's not the reason.
[59:17]How come on the other side so many people were willing to
[59:24]die?
[59:23]Death is death.
[59:25]So that's not the reason.
[59:28]So what was the reason then?
[59:30]Because the c the circumstances of supporting Imam Hussein were unexpected.
[59:37]You know how look at all the factors very briefly to show
[59:42]you how Allah tested this um through an unexpected way.
[59:45]Number one the timing.
[59:50]Im Hussein was in Mecca.
[59:53]When did he leave Mecca?
[59:53]the eighth of that's one day before what who leaves Mecca one
[60:03]day before it's unexpected people were not expecting that so the timing
[60:09]was unexpected for people number two I im Hussein in his caravan
[60:19]an army who did he have with him women and children.
[60:24]Have you ever seen an army with women and children in it?
[60:28]Who today do you see children in an army?
[60:32]That did not look like a conventional army.
[60:35]See, if you have a conventional army with men and all these
[60:41]swords and horses and you mobilize people, hey, come out and fight.
[60:44]I'm sure a lot of people will come and fight.
[60:47]But when your army half of them are women and children, not
[60:53]many people are willing to go and join that army.
[60:57]It's unexpected for them.
[60:59]And then when Imam Hussein approaches Kufa and people see there's a
[61:07]massive army with Iben Zad willing to fight.
[61:08]Imam Hussein had several hundred with him in the beginning.
[61:12]You look at that, you're like, "No, I don't want to join
[61:17]the army of Imam Hussein." Several hundred versus tens of thousands.
[61:21]That's not how a battle is supposed to take place.
[61:26]Imm Hussein didn't have a conventional army.
[61:29]It didn't look like a conventional army.
[61:32]So many people were not interested in fighting.
[61:36]If it's a conventional army, I'll go because I prepared myself to
[61:41]join a conventional army.
[61:43]But an unconventional, unusual one, small in size, woman, children in it.
[61:51]No, I'm not interested.
[61:52]That's not for me.
[61:54]That's where they failed their test.
[61:59]And of course, the dunya and the love of money that Iben
[62:03]Zad was promising that also plays a role obviously, but these are
[62:11]expected factors.
[62:10]But this was unexpected.
[62:14]Materialism did fuel the failure of those people to pass their test.
[62:21]Definitely part of it was materialism.
[62:23]Part of it was haram, haram income, haram sustenance.
[62:30]Im Hussein said it on the day of ash.
[62:35]He explains why these people followed the shaitan.
[62:36]He says these people their stomachs have been filled with haram and
[62:49]soan overpowered them and made them forget Allah.
[62:53]Now Im Hussein wasn't referring to haram food.
[62:57]I'm sure in Kufa there was halal food available everywhere at the
[63:03]time.
[63:02]It's a Muslim community.
[63:04]What does he mean by haram in their stomachs, unlawful money, money
[63:11]taken unjustly?
[63:11]That all fuels it.
[63:14]But it's the unexpected factor that made them made many of them
[63:18]not join Im Hussein.
[63:22]They weren't willing.
[63:22]Now my dear brothers and sisters, come to our era.
[63:27]We all are waiting for who?
[63:31]For our 12th im.
[63:34]Many of us desperately are waiting.
[63:38]We say Allah.
[63:39]Some of you recite dua every morning.
[63:43]We're desperately waiting.
[63:47]Waiting.
[63:46]But you know where the danger is?
[63:50]Let's not forget the stories of Quran.
[63:52]The Jews were also waiting for their savior at the time of
[63:55]the prophet.
[63:56]But when he reappeared, when the prophet appeared, what happened?
[63:58]They turned against him.
[63:59]They fought him.
[64:01]How can I guarantee that this doesn't happen to me and my
[64:07]family and my community?
[64:07]That if tomorrow, inshallah, the imam reappears any day, I don't turn
[64:11]against him because Allah might try you in an unexpected way.
[64:19]Are you ready?
[64:19]Have we conditioned ourselves to accept the trials of Allah unconditionally without
[64:28]questioning it?
[64:29]When you know something is from Allah, accept it.
[64:32]Even if you don't understand it, even if you're not expecting it.
[64:36]Let me give you an example, just a simple example.
[64:39]If the Imam reappears and you see him directly and he gives
[64:47]you an order, a command, let's say, let's say the imam tells
[64:55]you jump off the cliff and you know this is your im.
[64:57]He gives you an order to do something very difficult, anything.
[65:00]Would you do it?
[65:03]I'm sure you would.
[65:05]I don't doubt that.
[65:05]I know that you lovers of Imam Hussein, you lovers of Imam
[65:10]Mahi, if your Imam reappears and he sees you face to face
[65:12]and he tells you to do something, you would tell him, "My
[65:16]master, I'm honored to do it.
[65:18]Whatever you want me to do, you want me to sit here
[65:21]till the morning, I will." You want me to fight, I will.
[65:24]You want me to educate people, I will.
[65:28]I'm honored to obey you.
[65:29]That's easy because that's expected.
[65:32]But imagine if the imam told you, you see that janitor over
[65:39]there, let's say you have a company, you're a CEO, there's a
[65:45]janitor who works for you.
[65:46]We consider that person a low class person.
[65:50]You see that trash picker there?
[65:54]From now on, you obey him.
[66:00]He will issue you commands and you follow.
[66:03]You think now it's the same.
[66:06]Nah, my im give me the order I'll accept.
[66:09]But no, no, no.
[66:11]I I don't want to go under this janitor.
[66:13]You see, the nefs here will confuse you.
[66:19]If there's arrogance in me, jealousy in me, it's going to prevent
[66:25]me from obeying the commands of my imma.
[66:29]I'm giving you an example of how through unexpected ways, Allah can
[66:36]try.
[66:34]If I'm not ready, I will fail this test.
[66:38]But if I prepare myself and say to myself, if my imam
[66:44]reappears, no matter what, no matter who, how, I will obey.
[66:47]The Imam tells me, you sit here like a slave and you
[66:51]obey that janitor, I will say, I'm honored to do that.
[66:56]If Allah wants it from me, I accept.
[66:57]That's a true mment.
[67:00]Your your obedience to Allah is unconditional.
[67:03]It's not conditional.
[67:04]Many times, brothers and sisters, we worship Allah conditionally.
[67:08]If it's my way, I'll worship Allah.
[67:14]This is the shaitan way.
[67:18]He told Allahha, I don't want to do sujud to Adam, but
[67:20]I will worship you in a way no other creation has ever
[67:27]worshiped you.
[67:25]just spare me from the sujud to Adam.
[67:30]What did Allah tell him?
[67:33]El worship me the way I want, not the way you want.
[67:39]Many times we want to worship Allah the way we want.
[67:43]But when Allah tries you through an unexpected way, that's your moment
[67:51]to show your true iman in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[67:56]Sometimes there are tests.
[67:59]We're expecting them.
[67:59]A financial crisis.
[68:02]I'm expecting it.
[68:01]Maybe one day I lose my job.
[68:04]I'm struggling financially.
[68:07]There something we expect.
[68:08]It's natural.
[68:08]A health risk.
[68:10]Maybe we expect it.
[68:13]But there are some things you don't expect.
[68:13]Maybe your best friend best friend that you've been living with for
[68:20]30 years backstabs you and betrays you.
[68:22]And you tell me I was not expecting that.
[68:25]And because of this trial, you commit mistakes and you lose your
[68:32]faith.
[68:33]Sometimes you're not expecting that.
[68:37]Certain trials with our children, sometimes we're not expecting it.
[68:42]Allah will try you in a way that you're not really expecting.
[68:45]Are you ready?
[68:48]Are you ready?
[68:47]Many parents tell me say it I was prepared for any trial
[68:52]but I never thought Allah would test me through my son or
[68:55]daughter in this way.
[68:58]I never thought that a person had told me a parent had
[69:07]told me say it.
[69:06]I was expecting any trial but I never thought that my child
[69:12]one day would be abused and this is destroying me.
[69:14]I can't function.
[69:16]I'm angry at God.
[69:19]Trials can come in unexpected ways.
[69:23]A father once told me, "My daughter was getting married and I
[69:30]had I thought we had the best son-in-law.
[69:33]Perfect perfect reputation.
[69:38]I investigated about him for a whole year.
[69:39]Not a spot.
[69:44]The day of the wedding, I discover something serious.
[69:50]The day of the wedding, what would you do?
[69:54]It's tough.
[69:56]It's not something you're expecting.
[69:57]Some people collapse here.
[69:59]Some people lose faith.
[70:01]They lose patience.
[70:02]They start acting irrationally, not with wisdom.
[70:06]But that's your trial.
[70:08]In that moment, that's your test.
[70:10]Are you ready to handle something like that?
[70:13]to say, "Ya Allah, this is tough on me, but I believe
[70:19]in you.
[70:20]I'll never stop believing in you." That is the state of a
[70:23]mid.
[70:24]You know, many people during the last two years when they saw
[70:26]thousands of children and women being massacred in Gaza, you know, some
[70:34]people came up to me and they told me, "I'm losing faith."
[70:37]Many people came up to me like, "Say it.
[70:40]These innocent children are being killed in Gaza in southern Lebanon here
[70:45]and there.
[70:44]If IM Magdi is not going to reappear now, then when is
[70:49]he going to reappear?
[70:49]I'm losing faith.
[70:51]Like that's your trial.
[70:52]That's not what a Muhammmed says.
[70:54]A Muhammmin says, "I'm in pain when I see the suffering of
[71:00]these people and I try to do something about it, but ya
[71:02]Allah, I would never give up my faith in you or the
[71:06]imam of my time.
[71:08]Even if the whole world turns against me, set back after setback,
[71:12]no matter what happens, I never lose my faith in my iman
[71:15]because I know you're trying me and I believe in you firmly.
[71:21]That's how a mumin prepares himself.
[71:23]That's how you polish your iman.
[71:25]Sometimes Allah can try you through failure.
[71:31]I once met a young man.
[71:36]He was suicidal.
[71:36]He even attempted suicide.
[71:39]You know why?
[71:41]He was smart.
[71:43]He was bright.
[71:44]Everybody looked up to him.
[71:49]His family was proud of him.
[71:50]He was going to pharmacy school.
[71:53]Everything looked perfect.
[71:55]Straight A student.
[71:58]He took his test.
[72:00]In the in the US they call it naplex.
[72:03]I don't know what the equivalent here in the UK.
[72:07]You take that test to graduate from pharmacy school, he failed.
[72:14]Imagine what happened.
[72:16]His friends, oh, you failed.
[72:18]Mom and dad, we've waited all these years.
[72:21]We spent on your education.
[72:25]You fail.
[72:26]There was immense pressure on him.
[72:31]And he didn't know why.
[72:31]Why did I fail?
[72:33]He was a hardworking student.
[72:35]He wasn't partying all night.
[72:36]He took it a second time.
[72:39]He failed.
[72:41]He told me I was this close to committing suicide.
[72:46]Why?
[72:48]Just because you failed an exam.
[72:52]You give up on life.
[72:54]You give up on Allah, on the imam of your time.
[72:58]That's your test.
[72:58]The world is bigger than an exam.
[73:01]Sometimes through failure Allah is actually trying you to make you stronger
[73:06]to tell you that okay you failed this so what Allah didn't
[73:12]create you for the naplex is there a verse in the Quran
[73:18]that says so you take the naplex that's not why Allah created
[73:25]you Allah created you to worship him and to be tried and
[73:28]even if you failed that test what your worship of Allah stopped
[73:31]Your servitude to Allah stopped and ended.
[73:36]See, we forget why we're here on earth in moments like that.
[73:43]You worked your so hard your entire life for that dream job
[73:47]only to lose it or not get to it.
[73:51]It's not the end of the world.
[73:54]Say, "Alhamdulillah, ya Allah, I tried my best to get that job
[73:57]because I thought that job was good for me, but now that
[74:00]I didn't, fine.
[74:00]You're the you'll take care of me.
[74:04]No matter what happens, you'll take care of me.
[74:07]That's im.
[74:10]But it needs, it requires that you prepare yourself mentally, psychologically, spiritually,
[74:19]you prepare yourself.
[74:20]Whatever happens, I accept the outcome.
[74:24]I accept the outcome.
[74:24]Many people come to me say I started to become religious.
[74:30]I started praying the maze.
[74:30]The next day I get hit with this trial.
[74:34]Why?
[74:34]I'm angry.
[74:35]I'm like, why?
[74:37]When you started praying the maze, you thought now the trial is
[74:41]going to be lifted from you.
[74:42]You're going to live like a king.
[74:44]Who told you that if you pray, you're going to live like
[74:47]a king in this world and you're not going to be tried?
[74:49]Who told you that?
[74:52]Say, "I just went to Zara and I came back.
[74:55]I thought life is going to be beautiful and I got hit
[74:57]with this test.
[74:59]Exactly.
[75:01]In unexpected ways, Allah is trying you to see is your faith
[75:07]unconditional or it's conditional.
[75:07]When things go my way, the way I expect them, I'll have
[75:13]faith otherwise I won't.
[75:13]That's the trial of this world, brothers and sisters.
[75:18]And that's why this um failed with lady fat because the trial
[75:26]was unexpected.
[75:26]Muslims in Medina were not expecting the attack on the house of
[75:32]Fat.
[75:32]They were not.
[75:33]Who thought anyone would have the audacity to enter the house of
[75:41]Fat and threaten Fat?
[75:43]This is a door.
[75:44]The door of Fat was a door would stand at this door
[75:51]every single day and he would says and he would seek permission.
[75:57]My daughter, do you give me permission to enter your house?
[75:59]She would tell him, "Father, this is your house.
[76:02]You don't need permission." Who thought after Allah some of these people
[76:08]would go in Medina and attack her house?
[76:12]unexpected was absolutely unexpected but that's how Allah tried this um now
[76:18]this happened are you going to go and defend Fatma or you
[76:23]need 10 years to think let me sit and calculate do I
[76:29]need to defend the prophet's daughter or not see if the um
[76:34]was expecting this had months to prepare I'm sure they would have
[76:39]done something about Because Muslims they loved Fatma genuinely they loved her.
[76:45]They didn't have a problem with Fatima.
[76:47]Fatima was beloved in Medina.
[76:50]And when she came to the mosque and she gave the Fedaki
[76:55]sermon and she wept everyone broke into tears in the masjid because
[77:00]she wept.
[77:01]They loved Fat.
[77:01]But they weren't expected that as soon as the prophet is buried
[77:08]in the grave, we have to go and stand up to for
[77:09]Fatima and defend her.
[77:11]They weren't expecting that.
[77:11]So they failed their test.
[77:14]But a true m in that moment says, "Fatan, the beloved Fat
[77:20]is being attacked.
[77:20]Forget my family.
[77:23]Forget my house.
[77:23]Forget my well-being.
[77:25]I'll go and I'll give life, my life to Fat." That's what
[77:28]a true Muhammmed says.
[77:31]But this was the unexpected trial of Lady Fatam.
[77:37]And that's why the narration says when they attacked Fatam and she
[77:45]was between the door and the wall, you know what she said?
[77:49]She says, My father, is this what happens to your beloved Fatima?
[78:07]This is the Fatima whom you would stand up for and kiss
[78:13]her hands.
[78:12]Now she's attacked like that.
[78:15]How much pain and suffering did Lady Fatam have to go through
[78:22]after the prophet?
[78:21]She was in grief crying day and night for the loss of
[78:28]her father Rasool Allah.
[78:29]And yet on top of that she had to face so many
[78:35]tragedies.
[78:34]Imagine losing a father like Rasool Allah.
[78:37]She would go to the grave of the prophet.
[78:40]She would pick up the dust of the grave and put it
[78:46]on her head and she would say, If someone takes the dust
[79:10]of the grave of Ahmed of the prophet and he smells the
[79:13]fragrant smell of that grave, how can you ever appreciate any perfume
[79:18]after that.
[79:20]And then she says, Tragedies have befell me.
[79:42]They're so severe.
[79:42]If those tragedies would befall the day, the day would turn into
[79:48]a dark night.
[79:49]What happened to you?
[79:53]Fat after the incident of the door for nearly two to three
[80:03]months she was in pain.
[80:05]I want to now take your hearts to the house of Fatma
[80:10]on the last day of her blessed life.
[80:13]Fatima had grown very weak.
[80:15]She could barely walk.
[80:19]She got up to do before sunset.
[80:22]She would have one hand on the wall to lean on and
[80:28]one hand on her broken ribs.
[80:29]You know how painful it is to have broken ribs?
[80:35]About 10 years ago, I myself I had a very minor injury
[80:40]in one of my ribs.
[80:41]Very minor injury, nothing significant.
[80:44]You know when you breathe your lung expands and that pushes against
[80:51]your ribs.
[80:50]The act of breathing becomes painful.
[80:54]Every moment Fatima was going through pain.
[81:00]She goes and she does wudoo.
[81:05]She comes back to her room.
[81:07]She calls on Asma.
[81:07]She tells her Asma, I am tired.
[81:12]I I am going to lie down and get some rest.
[81:14]But I want you to wake me up at the time of
[81:17]sunset because I heard my father state when you do dua at
[81:25]the time of sunset.
[81:24]Allah accepts your dua.
[81:27]Asma call on me.
[81:30]If I responded to you, great.
[81:31]If I didn't, as know something has happened to me.
[81:36]Asma narrates, she says, I came to the room of by the
[81:46]time of sunset.
[81:45]I greeted her.
[81:48]I said, she didn't hear a response.
[81:57]Asma is getting worried.
[81:57]When does Fatima ever not respond to your salam?
[82:01]She panics.
[82:09]There's no response from Fatma.
[82:14]She's so concerned.
[82:14]She goes into the room of Fat.
[82:18]She sees a body lying on the floor covered with a sheet.
[82:26]She had covered her face.
[82:27]Fatima, respond to me.
[82:30]Fatima does not respond to Asma.
[82:31]And she says, "I knew the tragedy had come.
[82:35]I knew then and there that we lost.
[82:47]But now she had one very important concern.
[82:51]Now Hassan and Hussein are going to come back from the masjid.
[82:56]What do I tell them?
[82:57]How do I tell young Hussein?
[83:01]You've lost your mother.
[83:01]Who has the heart to tell Hussein Fatim is dead?
[83:05]How do I break the news to them?
[83:09]Ya Allah.
[83:09]Soon after Hassan and Hussein, they come back from the masjid.
[83:16]They enter their house.
[83:16]As she greets them, she's drying her tears so they don't sense
[83:22]anything.
[83:21]She wants to distract them to buy some time.
[83:24]She tells them, "I prepared some food for you.
[83:29]Come and eat." Imm Hassan, he realizes something's wrong.
[83:34]He looks at her.
[83:36]He says, "Esma, when did you ever see us eat without our
[83:39]mother Fatima?" He senses something's not right.
[83:49]He starts running towards the room of Fat.
[83:50]He sees her on the floor covered in a sheet.
[83:54]Ya Allah.
[83:56]You know what I Hassan does?
[83:59]He's a boy.
[83:58]He's seven years old at this point.
[84:05]He removes the sheet from the face of Fat.
[84:06]He puts his cheek on her cheek.
[84:11]He says, "Omat, talk to me.
[84:16]I am your son, Husse." You know what I Hussein does?
[84:24]He goes by the feet of Fatima.
[84:26]He removes the sheet.
[84:29]He puts his blessed cheek on the feet of his mother Fatima.
[84:35]He says, "Mother Fatima Hussein, mother Fatima, I'm your beloved Hussein.
[84:48]Talk to me." Wah.
[84:50]When I remember this scene, I im Hussein's cheek on the feet
[84:57]of the blessed Fatima Alisam.
[84:59]I remember this contrast Abdullah.
[85:02]Now your face is on the feet of Fat.
[85:05]But one day your cheek is on the plains of [laughter] with
[85:15]the blood on the spears, Ya Allah.
[85:38]Raise your hands in dua.
[85:41]This is the moment in which Allah accepts dua.
[85:46]When we gather as with broken hearts and tears, Allah has promised
[85:49]to accept our dua.
