[0:21]alhamdulillah [Music] [Music] last night we began with a topic of why
[0:54]we commemorate the month of muharam and we first started the Night
[1:01]by going through the stories of how much the they wanted to
[1:08]stop these commemorations just like these commemorations that we are having today
[1:13]in Past Times from the very beginning there was a push from
[1:20]theifs of how do we stop these morning ceremonies from taking place
[1:24]and we went over the story of mut that when he was
[1:29]looking around and he was seeing how much love there was in
[1:31]the hearts of the people he first tried certain methods to stop
[1:36]the morning ceremonies and when they didn't work he actually went as
[1:44]far as to demolish the shrine of ab abdah Hussein and even
[1:48]when he demolished the shrine and he destroyed even the traces of
[1:52]where the building had been even then he wasn't able to remove
[1:58]the love that was in the the hearts of the people and
[2:02]we went over that story of even that individual the woman that
[2:05]was in his court whose role was to organize the entertainment sessions
[2:14]of the khif so she would organize people to sing and to
[2:17]dance and to do these different actions even she had ended up
[2:21]going on the Zara of Imam Hussein even in modern times I
[2:28]remember a few years ago I was in AR we were at
[2:29]the walk and one of the things that they told us the
[2:35]guests the hosts that we had they said that during the time
[2:42]of Saddam Saddam was very sensitive when people wanted to go on
[2:45]the AR walk because he felt that it was a threat to
[2:46]his Rule and they said that people they still wanted to do
[2:52]the AR walk they wanted to walk from nef all the way
[2:57]to carala and because they didn't want to be caught by Saddam
[2:59]Hussein's guard s what they would do is that they would walk
[3:02]in the middle of the night whenever no one was watching there
[3:06]was no police there was no agents they would do this AR
[3:10]walk and as soon as daylight came they would then go into
[3:12]the houses of the people that were along the way and they
[3:16]would hide there they would sleep there and then when daytime came
[3:19]again they would rise so historically the they have feared these gatherings
[3:24]just like the one that we are at today and we began
[3:30]this journey of why is it that we commemorate the month of
[3:33]muharam the first reason that we gave was the reason that we
[3:38]are mourning the loss of an individual that had so much to
[3:44]teach us that when you look at a mum an individual that
[3:47]is infallible that is connected to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala you have
[3:51]an individual that can change the very world and so when we
[3:59]have an individual like this that we lose Lo them then there
[4:02]is a mourning process there is a loss that for as long
[4:06]as human history goes on that loss can never be replenished it
[4:10]can never be fixed this was the first reason that we went
[4:14]over the second reason is that we commemorate the love of dun
[4:21]and what that can do to us we went over the story
[4:27]of Omar this individual that had a great love for a piece
[4:30]of land that was called the land of Reay and as a
[4:35]result of that love that he has this love of even though
[4:40]he knows he knows that by killing Imam Hussein his place is
[4:47]going to be the fire of hell that love that he has
[4:48]it pulls him towards the killing of the Imam now when we
[4:54]were going over the story I hope you caught the lesson in
[4:59]it that every single individual every every human being we also create
[5:03]even if we are not that infatuated with the D we create
[5:08]a certain love within our heart of the dun and that creates
[5:14]a separation between us and our Imam today the question that we
[5:20]should be asking ourselves is why is it that we are unable
[5:23]to see our IM there's a barrier there is something which is
[5:28]preventing me from connecting with my IM and we have to admit
[5:33]that at a level there is a love of D that pulls
[5:37]me in One Direction away from my IM you know there was
[5:41]a story that I was listening to maybe a few months ago
[5:45]and it was a story of one of the sh in the
[5:50]Iran AR War one of the individuals that had volunteered and he
[5:53]had fought and he had been martyred and he says something very
[5:58]interesting this individual when I was listening to the story he said
[6:03]that he didn't have the ability to speak so he was born
[6:08]without the ability of speaking and this was maybe in the early
[6:11]1980s the mid 1980s in Iran there wasn't wasn't as common that
[6:16]you could go and for example learn sign language and you could
[6:19]communicate with someone like that and he writes in his will he
[6:24]says that whenever I would try to connect with people whenever I
[6:27]would try to speak with people you know just imagine that you
[6:32]have all of these things that you want to say you want
[6:36]to communicate whenever I will try to communicate with those around me
[6:40]he says that they would make fun of me they would mock
[6:44]me so this was something that was very painful for him and
[6:48]he narrates after his shahada he writes in his will he writes
[6:53]that even though whenever I tried to speak with you you would
[6:58]mock me you would make fun of me he says no that
[6:59]every single day my Imam would speak with me every single day
[7:07]my Imam would communicate with me if this individual was able to
[7:12]communicate with his IM he was able to connect with his Imam
[7:16]then when we are commemorating the story of carala we have to
[7:20]admit that there is something which is blocking us from being able
[7:25]to see and to communicate with our IM and in many cases
[7:29]it is nothing other than the love of dun that was reason
[7:34]number two reason number three and inshallah this is the start of
[7:38]today's lecture we commemorate and we mourn Imam hussein.
[7:43]and this is possibly the most important reason because when we look
[7:48]at Imam Hussein we recognize that the Imam is the cause of
[7:51]Islam being saved from complete destruction if you look at every other
[7:57]religion in the world you see these deviations that that religion today
[8:03]it is nothing like when that religion was first revealed a th
[8:08]2,000 3,000 years ago when Imam Hussein he's about to rise up
[8:12]he looks at the religion of Islam he looks at the rulership
[8:17]of yazid and he sees that all of those little deviations that
[8:20]had been introduced into the religion from the earliest days he sees
[8:25]that they are reaching a point where they are about to completely
[8:29]walk Wipe Out the religion of Islam the fact that today we
[8:35]can come and we can commemorate the fact that today we can
[8:37]open up the Quran and it is the same Quran with the
[8:42]same interpretation as the time of the fact that we can pray
[8:46]we can fast we can connect with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala all
[8:49]of these things it goes back to the sacrifice of Imam Hussein
[8:55]you know today you look at the religions of Christianity you look
[8:58]at the religion of Judaism it is so so altered you speak
[9:02]to a Christian brother you say that your belief in God can
[9:07]you explain it to me they say that yes God is three
[9:09]but he is one he is one but he is three you
[9:13]don't even know what is going on then they say okay well
[9:17]I'll explain it to you that God is like an egg it's
[9:19]reached the point where they are trying to make a metaphor of
[9:23]God in relationship with an egg you look at Judaism the alterations
[9:27]that have happened within the idea that a group of people is
[9:33]the chosen ones of God that God has created all of these
[9:35]human beings on this Earth an ethnic group over the other these
[9:41]are the deviations and worse that we would have seen in Islam
[9:47]if im Hussein had not risen up you know a few weeks
[9:49]ago I was looking at a video online and it was a
[9:55]very nice Jewish lady she was explaining that in their religion they
[9:58]have something just like are hijab and then she explained that the
[10:04]way that they practice hijab they have a little bit of a
[10:07]loophole that they are supposed to cover their hair but what they
[10:13]do in order to cover their hair is that they cover their
[10:16]hair with someone else's hair and so usually that wig is even
[10:22]more luxurious it's even more beautiful than their own hair the hair
[10:25]that they themselves have and so we see all of these deviations
[10:28]all of these alterations Islam stands unique amongst all of the religions
[10:33]of the world and so we owe everything to IM Al Hussein
[10:38]the fourth reason is that when we commemorate the month of muharam
[10:45]we commemorate the sacrifice of Imam Hussein it allows us to reform
[10:49]ourselves and I'm sure that all of you have experienced this that
[10:55]there was something that maybe you were struggling with during the rest
[10:58]of the year there was some problem that you had with the
[10:59]Halal with theam maybe you were having issues with the hijab you
[11:06]were having issues with the Salah you were having issues maybe at
[11:08]a line of work where the income was not Halal and you
[11:14]remember the story ofala you connect with Imam Hussein and through that
[11:19]connection you get the strength to fix that issue that you were
[11:25]dealing with I don't know how many people they've been struggling months
[11:28]and months years and years they are struggling with an issue and
[11:32]they weep over Imam Hussein after a few tears they feel that
[11:37]connection they feel that strength within themselves to stand against whatever they
[11:43]are facing when you look at the story of Imam Hussein it
[11:46]is the story of growth it is a story of change and
[11:51]I mentioned a few last night actually it feels like a few
[11:53]days ago last time I mentioned that even in Shia countries even
[11:57]criminals are reformed by the the story of Imam Hussein that that
[12:04]individual that for his entire life he is stealing he's a career
[12:08]criminal he is drinking he is using drugs when the month of
[12:13]mam comes something changes within him he says in honor of I'm
[12:17]going to stay away from this sin and many times he sticks
[12:22]to it that even after the month has finished he doesn't go
[12:25]back to that crime and that criminal lifestyle that he had and
[12:29]so the holy month of muharam it is a month of change
[12:33]for us that if you can connect to the story this is
[12:36]the month that if you are facing any challenges in your life
[12:39]utilize the energy utilize the tear utilize the sorrow in order to
[12:47]move towards Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala this was reason number four reason
[12:51]number five and this is such an important one when we commemorate
[13:00]carala we are reminding ourselves of the failure of the majority to
[13:06]do their Duty and here I want to stop all of us
[13:09]because when we begin to think about carala and I mentioned this
[13:15]yesterday we often times think about the failure of those people they
[13:21]failed their Imam but I want to bring us into this picture
[13:25]that is it possible that we are failing our Imam because if
[13:32]we don't think about it with this Dynamic then the story of
[13:37]carala it doesn't have much use for me and you when you
[13:39]look during the time of IM Hussein one of the things that
[13:43]is clear is that the vast majority of the people of his
[13:46]time the people of kufa the people of Medina the people of
[13:50]Mecca the people of the Muslim World they knew what their Duty
[13:56]was towards AB abdah they knew but the issue that they had
[14:02]is that in order to help the IM it would have entailed
[14:05]loss and in order to bring this home I wanted to give
[14:11]you all an example tonight imagine that your Imam Rises tonight the
[14:18]second night of muharam he rises and for example sake will make
[14:25]him rise perhaps in the city of Dearborn he comes and he
[14:29]announces maybe even in this audience he announces that for example I
[14:37]am IM these are the proofs and I am calling upon people
[14:40]to volunteer for my cause he says but there is a few
[14:46]issues that I have to tell you about first number one if
[14:49]you want to join my cause then it is guaranteed that you
[14:56]are going to lose your homes just imagine the homes that you
[14:59]have the com for those homes bring you how many years you
[15:01]have worked to pay off the mortgages and to have a home
[15:05]the Imam says if you join me tonight you are going to
[15:10]lose your home so just imagine how that would feel that after
[15:13]the program and maybe you would have to stay for the Arabic
[15:16]and you would have to continue staying because you don't have a
[15:20]home anymore imagine how that would feel that afterwards I don't have
[15:23]anything to go to he says number two you're going to lose
[15:25]your job so you can say wasam to your job as well
[15:30]number three you are going to lose all of the savings that
[15:35]you have worked so hard all of these years to gain you're
[15:38]going to lose all of these things now he's not even asking
[15:43]you that you're going to risk your life he's not saying that
[15:45]he's simply saying that you're going to have some Financial loss and
[15:49]he promises you that eventually there will be recompensation and there will
[15:54]be reward in the as well but today there is loss how
[15:59]many of us would be willing to join the Imam and it's
[16:06]a question alhamdulillah I see many hands in the front of the
[16:10]young Brothers alhamdulillah this is something that we really have to think
[16:15]about that if there was this level of loss would we hesitate
[16:19]even a little bit would we hesitate would we say that you
[16:24]know I have all of these things I've worked for so many
[16:26]years for I don't really want to lose all of these things
[16:32]you know during the events of carella one of the things that
[16:35]really breaks the heart is that AWI has narrated he says that
[16:37]when the Battle of caral was taking place just imagine 30,000 individuals
[16:42]that are surrounding a band of less than 100 he says that
[16:48]when this battle was taking place I looked and appears he was
[16:50]on the side of the enemy he says I looked on the
[16:54]foothills of the hills that surrounded The Plains of carala and I
[16:58]saw the Elders of kufa and these Elders of kufa they had
[17:03]gathered these individuals that had all of the power they were tribal
[17:06]leaders he says they had gathered on the foothills of kuf he
[17:11]says I saw that tears were streaming down their faces until it
[17:15]had soaked the would we actually rise up to help them regardless
[17:18]of the tremendous cost number five and inshallah everyone is still with
[17:26]me let's recite a loud salawat number six when we mourn one
[17:41]of the things that we are reminding ourselves is that Islam is
[17:48]not just a religion that has to do acts of I and
[17:51]this is one of the clearest of signs when you look at
[17:55]the rise of Imam Hussein when you look at the reasons why
[17:57]the Imam Rises one of the clearest signs is that if Islam
[18:02]was just a religion where you go and you do your Salah
[18:06]and you do your s and you go on the Hajj pilgrimage
[18:10]and you don't have anything to do with the leaders that are
[18:12]in place and you don't have anything to do with the community
[18:15]the society you're disconnected from all of those things if this was
[18:23]the case then there is no doubt that Imam Hussein would have
[18:25]remained and by the way many people when they saw that the
[18:28]IM was about rise they had the same idea they look this
[18:31]has nothing to do with you we do our Salah we do
[18:34]our s we go on the Hajj pilgrimage we do all of
[18:38]the things that we are Duty bound to do in Islam leave
[18:40]the Allah will deal with them Imam Hussein's rise it shows that
[18:45]Islam has a very deep connection with the society around us you
[18:52]cannot live as a drop of water in the ocean without being
[18:58]assimilated and being washed away by the water many times we miss
[19:03]this point when we look at the mar one of the things
[19:08]that is really interesting I'm not going to mention the name of
[19:11]this scholar but he has written a book in relation to the
[19:18]connection between Islam and Islamic governance in his book he mentions the
[19:22]following I wanted to read this to you inshallah it's very amazing
[19:26]when you see the connection that Islam has with all all of
[19:29]society he says the following and by the way many times we
[19:34]think the opposite of what he says he says the proportion of
[19:38]the quranic verses concerned with the Affairs of society to those concerned
[19:47]with ritual worship is greater than 100 to one usually we think
[19:52]it's the opposite when you open the pages of the Quran we
[19:53]think that every single verse is in regards to Salah and S
[20:00]and the HJ pilgrimage this scholar he says no no no it's
[20:03]actually the opposite that for every one verse that has to do
[20:09]with Salah there are a hundred other verses that have to do
[20:12]with Society they have to do with economics they have to do
[20:14]with politics they have to do with how you deal with other
[20:19]human beings he says this is the reality of Islam then he
[20:21]goes and he explains the books of aith at least we should
[20:26]say okay the books of Hadith those are going to be all
[20:30]about fasting and praying and Hajj and again he says the following
[20:35]he says that of the approximately 50 sections of the books of
[20:40]Hadith containing all of the laws of Islam just imagine how many
[20:45]thousands and tens of thousands of Hadith are in those books he
[20:48]says no more than two or three of them are concerned with
[20:55]the ritual acts of worship now here this doesn't mean that the
[20:58]Salah and the sound these are not important they are extremely important
[21:01]but it means that in order for us to establish the true
[21:07]Salah the true fasting you have to also be concerned with what
[21:10]is happening in the society around you then he continues and he
[21:16]says that all of these sections they are related to the matters
[21:19]of the duties of man towards his creator and he says then
[21:25]a few more are also concerned with questions of ethics and then
[21:28]all of the rest are concerned with social economic legal and political
[21:34]matters when you look at the rise of the Imam one of
[21:38]the things that is so clear is that if there is oppression
[21:42]taking place on the face of this Earth if you see Muslims
[21:47]that are being hurt that are being killed then you have a
[21:50]duty to stand up you can't say that this has nothing to
[21:53]do with me I'm going to go and I'm going to pray
[21:56]and I'm going to fast and Allah is going to deal with
[22:00]with that that's something for Allah today when you look at what
[22:03]is taking place in Philistine I've seen many people they say that
[22:07]I'm not willing to say anything you know if I say something
[22:13]I have a nice job I have a position in the society
[22:14]I have all of these things that I have worked for year
[22:19]after year after year if I say something God forbid I'm going
[22:21]to lose and I'm going to lose everything now we're not asking
[22:26]anyone to be foolish in the way that they approach things it's
[22:29]Islam says that you should be measured in the way that you
[22:31]deal with issues but if you are afraid today to say a
[22:38]simple word about what is happening in Philistine if I am afraid
[22:43]that if I say something I'm going to lose this cushy lifestyle
[22:46]then is it possible that when my Imam returns I'm going to
[22:53]have the same behavior towards my IM something very scary when you
[23:02]think abouta and then you bring it to the year 2024 and
[23:04]you ask yourself the question that if I was there in that
[23:09]situation today and I was asked to sacrifice would I sacrifice in
[23:14]the cause of my Imam or would I be just like everyone
[23:16]else that goes with the flow so this is also a very
[23:23]important and by the way there is a tradition and this tradition
[23:25]it gets me every time that the one who wakes up in
[23:37]the morning he rises in the morning and he's not concerned with
[23:41]the Affairs of the Muslims he doesn't really care he says alhamdulillah
[23:45]I have a nice job I have a nice house I don't
[23:49]really care about what is going on with others whether in my
[23:52]own Community or whether around the world I just don't care his
[23:58]heart is empty of that he's not concerned he says that he
[24:03]is not from us he is not from one of the Muslims
[24:06]that in essence says this individual who doesn't care he's left the
[24:12]fold of Islam practically speaking inah this is another question reason number
[24:18]seven and inshallah this will be the final reason for tonight when
[24:25]we mourn we remember that the one that connects to Allah subhanahu
[24:30]wa taala he becomes Eternal and he becomes Immortal and the one
[24:36]who connects to the issues of this D no matter how much
[24:41]power he accumulates no matter what he gains in this world eventually
[24:45]he finds that his name is completely forgotten a few days ago
[24:53]I was looking at an Instagram story and this brother had gone
[24:57]to do Zara of course it was a different kind of Zara
[25:01]but he had gone to do Zara in Syria and he had
[25:06]decided that he wanted to go and he wanted to visit the
[25:09]shrine of muaah so he goes and he says that there was
[25:13]a graveyard where they said that the grave of muaah is found
[25:18]within this area so he says I looked up and down down
[25:23]and up left and right I went everywhere trying to find this
[25:26]grave and it seems like no one wanted to tell him they
[25:29]probably realized that he was Iranian and what he was going to
[25:32]do that no one was willing to tell me where the grave
[25:36]of muya was located he says eventually after a lot of difficulty
[25:40]I realized that there was a certain spot which was the grave
[25:47]of mua and he actually was videotaping he goes up to the
[25:50]grave and he says I was really surprised that when I went
[25:53]up to the Grave I saw that there was not just one
[25:57]bar of iron I don't know if You' ever seen in a
[26:01]prison they have the rows of fencing and iron that prevents people
[26:05]from escaping he says there was not just one bar there was
[26:10]three bars and it was so thick that you really couldn't see
[26:13]the inside of the grave now what's interesting is that during the
[26:19]time of maaah at the height of his power what does muya
[26:24]do he tries to crush the name of Ali Talib and he
[26:29]does everything in his power how can I remove the name of
[26:32]aliali from the hearts of the Believers and one of the things
[26:38]that he does one of the things that he does he institutes
[26:40]the official cursing of Ali Talib during every official prayer throughout the
[26:47]Muslim world I want you to imagine this every Friday prayer that
[26:54]the Muslims would go to for decades one of the the parts
[27:01]and Parcels of the religious practices of it was to curse Al
[27:07]every Eid prayer that you would go the again he was Duty
[27:13]bound to curse the name of Al Talib to slander the name
[27:19]of Ali Talib and this was official policy for 60 or 70
[27:21]years until it was eventually removed that should have been enough to
[27:26]remove any trace of love of from the hearts of the people
[27:32]many people they wonder that how in the world after all of
[27:38]that propaganda after all of the that were fabricated all of the
[27:41]things that are said how in the world does the name of
[27:43]Ali still remain in the hearts of the people and then you
[27:50]juxtapose the position of muaah today that his Shrine or his grave
[27:58]they have to protect MUA from the hatred of the Muslims and
[28:00]by the way the reason why I had the three levels of
[28:04]bars was that the Believers would go and they would throw trash
[28:07]into the grave of mua this was one of the practices so
[28:12]they were trying to prevent and it become such an issue that
[28:14]every couple of days they had to go and clean up the
[28:18]grave they eventually came to the realization that they have to do
[28:22]something to prevent all the trash from being thrown today you go
[28:24]to the shrine of look at how many people are surrounding the
[28:32]grave of Ali you see the one who connects to Allah he
[28:37]becomes Immortal he becomes Eternal his memory cannot be removed no matter
[28:41]how much human beings with however much power however much should they
[28:48]try and we similarly we look at the story of yazid and
[28:50]we compare it with the story of IM Al Hussein during the
[28:54]time you all know the story that IM Hussein he is murdered
[28:58]he's murdered with all of his companions his family is taken as
[29:04]captives they are paraded in humiliation from one Muslim City to another
[29:09]Muslim City and during that time period it looked as if Imam
[29:12]Hussein had been completely defeated today I want you to find any
[29:17]trace of yazid we don't even know where he's buried he is
[29:21]such a hated figure that we don't even know where his grave
[29:25]is And yet when we look at Imam Hussein we find that
[29:30]everyone has gathered around and not only have they gathered around the
[29:33]physical Shrine but we see inspiration taking place from the movement of
[29:38]the Imam the name of Imam Hussein has become Eternal you know
[29:43]today when you look at every movement that is actually standing with
[29:47]the oppressed people of Palestine you see that they are the same
[29:50]people who are remembering the name of IM Al Hussein these were
[29:56]a few reasons inshallah I hope that it was of some benefit
[30:00]I wanted to end tonight's program with a few points just to
[30:05]add on and that was that when the month of muharam arrives
[30:10]sometimes we don't think too much about it we just attend the
[30:13]programs and we we weep and we mourn and we commemorate I
[30:18]wanted to give a few points of advice inshallah on some things
[30:22]which can enhance and allow our I during this month to become
[30:29]next level the first thing whenever you see the beginning of the
[30:32]month of muharam and this applies to every holy month and every
[30:36]holy time is that you should always enter the month by doing
[30:41]and I don't just mean by saying I don't mean by verbally
[30:48]doing what I mean by this is that when you enter the
[30:52]month of M one of the things that we should all do
[30:56]is we should seek forgiveness from Allah from all of our past
[31:02]mistakes seriously that we turn towards Allah we say yaah Allah this
[31:06]individual that I am today I'm not happy with who I am
[31:11]I'm ashamed of who I am I've committed mistakes I haven't done
[31:15]all of the things that you wanted me to do and so
[31:17]that that that we do it should be something that comes from
[31:23]the depths of our heart that we really ask Ya Allah please
[31:26]take all of the mistakes that I have made fix all of
[31:30]these issues so that when I enter into the month of Mam
[31:32]and when I am shedding tears over abdah I am shedding tears
[31:38]with a pure heart with a heart that is not saddled with
[31:41]sins this is number one that our Toba is something which is
[31:48]very sincere during this month number two and this is such an
[31:51]important thing is that when we enter into the holy month of
[31:54]muharam we should ask ourselves this question who is it that I
[32:01]want to become as religious people we enter into the month of
[32:06]Ramadan we enter into the month of muharam with a very vague
[32:11]idea of the person that we want to be when the month
[32:13]ends when the ash ends and often times when we enter and
[32:17]we have a very fuzzy idea of who we want to become
[32:20]we end up leaving the month with really nothing changing within us
[32:24]yes we cry and we are affected but as soon as the
[32:28]month changes we tend to go back to the same person that
[32:33]we were before the month began and so it's very important that
[32:35]each and every one of us we sit down even take pen
[32:41]and paper and ask yourself this question what are my weaknesses what
[32:45]are my strengths what are the things that in this ash in
[32:50]this month in this two months what are the things that I
[32:56]want to see change Within Myself and begin to practically map that
[32:58]out that these are the issues that I have and these are
[33:02]the ways in which I am going to change myself often times
[33:05]when we write the Practical steps it really helps us and it
[33:08]really allows us to achieve that end goal I'll give a very
[33:13]simple example if someone has an issue with being generous you know
[33:16]sometimes we have this problem being generous we don't want to give
[33:19]towards the cause of Allah if we have this issue one of
[33:23]the ways that we could do it is we could say to
[33:27]ourselves every single day during the ash I'm going to set an
[33:29]amount aside and I'm going to donate that amount in the way
[33:33]of Allah whether there's orphanages whatever it may be I'm going to
[33:37]donate that amount and so you make it a daily habit you
[33:40]break it into little bits and pieces that are easier for you
[33:44]to handle and so it's the same with anything else if you
[33:46]have for example a goal of praying Sal I want to really
[33:52]begin to do Salat regularly but it's really hard to wake up
[33:56]and it's difficult and I'm tired at that end of the night
[34:00]just tell yourself one thing I will only do one ra make
[34:03]it very easy for yourself don't say I'm going to do all
[34:07]11 Reas say I'm going to start for the sake of Imam
[34:08]Hussein I'm going to start with one single Raa how many minutes
[34:14]is that takes one minute I'm going to take one minute out
[34:16]of this 24 hours that Allah has given me how can we
[34:20]say no to that one minute we make it difficult upon ourselves
[34:22]to say no to those actions and so this is very important
[34:27]map out what you you want to do what you want to
[34:28]achieve who you want to be and inshallah you will achieve that
[34:33]step by step by step and the third and the final point
[34:36]for tonight is avoid dun as much as possible now many of
[34:44]you are going to say but I'm not involved in Haram and
[34:48]inshallah that is the case alhamdulillah that is the case that for
[34:51]the most part the Believers we don't have issues with for example
[34:56]Haram income right there's no issue with with Haram money that is
[35:00]coming our way but one of the advice that the they give
[35:05]they say that [Music] even can sometimes take you away from Imam
[35:11]Hussein it can take you away from Allah and by that we
[35:17]all have things that we enjoy doing we have hobbies we have
[35:20]things that maybe we love a little bit too much even though
[35:25]it's perfectly Halal there's nothing wrong with it but it's a good
[35:28]habit that at least for these 10 nights at least for this
[35:31]period of mam we make it a habit where we say look
[35:34]for this period I'm not going to look up any videos on
[35:39]YouTube I'm not going to research I'm not going to think about
[35:43]it I'm going to set that piece of D that I love
[35:46]within myself I'm going to set it aside for the sake of
[35:49]sh and so using these steps inshallah we can really achieve a
[35:55]higher level of closeness to Allah subhana wa tala during this holy
[35:59]month of muharam
