[0:00]foreign Allah alhamdulillah alhamdulillah foreign foreign foreign respected yesterday last night was
[2:40]the eve of the eve of the 23rd of the holy month
[2:45]of Ramadan and Muslims all over the world were supplicating were praying
[2:53]we're asking Allah for forgiveness and the eve of the 23rd has
[3:01]a special significance as I mentioned last night in my lecture it
[3:05]is called Leila till johani because a man from the companions of
[3:13]rasulullah he told the prophet I could only come once what day
[3:17]what night should I come and worship so rasulullah tells him to
[3:23]come on the eve of the 23rd and this is why when
[3:24]the Muslims they used to see him coming from out of the
[3:28]city coming to the Masjid and worshiping they would know that this
[3:35]was so we ask Allah to accept the duas of the in
[3:38]to forgive us for our sins for our faults and so that
[3:45]we can truly change our change our destiny to a better one
[3:50]now there are several points I wanted to mention one is that
[3:57]there are some narrations that says meaning that a day like today
[4:05]the day of Qatar meaning the day of the 23rd is similar
[4:08]to the eve of the 23rd and this there these narrations they're
[4:16]meant to get us to be in the habits of not just
[4:19]saying I'm going to worship one night and then that's it I'm
[4:23]going to go back and my life is going to be back
[4:25]to normal in fact should change me it shouldn't just be one
[4:31]night where I do Dua and then everything goes back to normal
[4:36]I should become a trans there should be a transformation within me
[4:41]as an individual and not only but the last 10 nights of
[4:47]the holy month of Ramadan now we're in the last 10 nights
[4:54]will be next week so the the last 10 nights of the
[5:00]holy month of Ramadan this is we're at the end of the
[5:02]marathon this is not the time to quit this is not the
[5:07]time to stop in fact this is the time to put more
[5:11]effort this is the time to read more Quran this is the
[5:13]time to try to do most Ras according to the narrations in
[5:18]the last 10 nights of the holy month of Ramadan he had
[5:21]his mattress on the floor something he would sleep on his farage
[5:24]he would wrap it he would roll it and he would put
[5:28]it aside and he would spend the night in ibadah exhausting himself
[5:32]so the Muslims they would tell him why are you doing this
[5:38]this is too much for you he would tell them should I
[5:43]not be a thankful servant should I not show appreciation right now
[5:47]during the month of Ramadan Allah forgives the sins should I not
[5:54]thank him for that should I not show the appreciation to Allah
[5:59]now there's a very important question that many people ask especially on
[6:06]a day like this after a night of ibadah and that is
[6:09]how do I know if God has answered me how do I
[6:16]know if Allah has forgiven me is there a way to know
[6:23]that Allah has accepted my prayers and answered me yes there is
[6:27]a way first of all we should always have faith the Allah
[6:33]listens to us we should always have faith that Allah answers us
[6:40]and Allah forgives us act one of the greatest sins is to
[6:47]doubt whether God will forgive me or not that is a sin
[6:50]in itself because that is losing hope and the mercy of Allah
[6:55]and Allah says in the Quran Allah says in the Quran do
[7:04]not give up hope in the mercy of Allah Allah forgives all
[7:12]of the sins so there's no sin that Allah will not forgive
[7:16]yes there's one in the Quran and that is when someone Associates
[7:23]a partner with Allah and the reason why the person who is
[7:27]a mushrik their tawba will not be accepted is because they're not
[7:30]asking Allah they're asking something else they're asking someone else but if
[7:35]you are sincere and you're genuine and you're truly turning to Allah
[7:39]then Allah will forgive you so I have to believe that God
[7:45]will forgive me this is one I have to believe that God
[7:49]will answer me and God is capable of answering me second my
[7:53]dear brothers and sisters once in order to know whether my Dua
[7:59]whether my supplication whether my prayers have been answered or not it
[8:04]all depends on me and that is that my lifestyle has to
[8:09]change if I do not go back to the bad habits if
[8:14]I do not go back to the sins then that means Allah
[8:18]has forgiven me but if I go back right away as soon
[8:21]as I do the Amal and then the next day I go
[8:25]back to the sins I go back to the same lifestyle same
[8:27]bad habits then that means I was not sincere and Allah has
[8:32]not forgiven me because Allah says oh you people who believe repent
[8:46]to Allah return to Allah but let it be sincere do not
[8:50]be someone who's deceitful do not be someone who's disingenuous would you
[8:55]like someone to come and apologize to you and then the next
[8:59]hour they go and they do exactly that which upset you does
[9:03]that make sense this is sometimes we're like that we come we
[9:08]ask Allah we do Dua we ask for forgiveness one day later
[9:12]we go back to the sin now what if someone says what
[9:17]if later on after months or years then that means Allah has
[9:20]forgiven you for that period of time now you need to seek
[9:23]Toba again now you need to seek forgiveness again but you have
[9:27]to let go of the bad habits the habits that do not
[9:31]allow the sins to be forgiven and this is one of the
[9:37]ways to know whether Allah has forgiven me if I see that
[9:40]there was change then that means Allah has forgiven me another point
[9:44]my dear brothers and sisters is that if I want to know
[9:50]if God has truly listened to me answered me and forgiven me
[9:52]I have to begin a cleansing process a detox process right now
[9:58]if someone has for example a heart problem clogged arteries in the
[10:03]hearts they go to the doctor the doctor will give you the
[10:08]medicine but the doctor tells you you have a long process to
[10:11]clean the heart to clean these arteries to fix the problems and
[10:19]here this means that we have to fix say oh Allah forgive
[10:21]me for that and it's not going to be fixed I need
[10:27]to go and fix my problems I need to go and mend
[10:32]these issues that I had if I have not prayed if I
[10:34]had not prayed that means I need to make up the prayers
[10:38]if I have not fasted I need to make up the fast
[10:42]if I have not given my zakats and My Humps I need
[10:47]to give it then Allah will forgive me there is a companion
[11:43]of Imam Assad the companion of Imam Sonic His name is he
[11:56]says there was a man who used to work with the government
[12:00]at that time with the omawi government at the time and this
[12:04]person used to commit all of the sins he was a person
[12:09]who was far away from Allah and he used to commit many
[12:14]of the sins he says I went to him and I tell
[12:18]him what do you want to change yourself when do you want
[12:21]to change these habits it's time for you to make a change
[12:24]in your life he said the man he tells him I have
[12:30]a lifestyle it's really difficult for me to change however if you
[12:34]ask your master meaning he tells them if you ask Imam is
[12:39]there a way is there a pathway to forgive me maybe he
[12:44]will answer me maybe there's a way that the Imam he will
[12:47]bring a solution so he says so he says the man the
[13:07]man who was living a sinful lifestyle he tells Abu basil he
[13:11]tells him introduce me to your Imam maybe he will teach me
[13:17]a way where I will be forgiven and cleansed of my sins
[13:21]Salaam and probably was in Medina he says I went to Medina
[13:32]and I saw the Imam and then he is the father he
[13:40]tells him tell him tell him that Jack Philippine Muhammad says Imam
[13:49]says that he made a promise he tells him let go of
[14:00]the bad habits stop the wrong and I will guarantee Paradise free
[14:06]foreign lifestyle and I will guarantee you Paradise he said the man
[14:35]started to cry and the man he said is this true really
[14:38]the Imam will guarantee me Paradise he's the grandson of the prophet
[14:46]and everything that he says is the truth so then he he
[14:49]says then I will do that I will do that he says
[14:56]the man changed the man he didn't just do his father the
[15:02]man left his job the job that was working with the government
[15:05]that was Haram money he loved it and then he said I
[15:12]went a while later and I see that this man he has
[15:17]given back all of the wealth that he has unjustly taken it
[15:21]from people you're working for a oppressive government he's probably taken money
[15:25]from this person and that person here and there he says I
[15:30]went and I saw that his house was empty and he was
[15:33]standing at the door he didn't even have clothes on because he
[15:37]had given up everything he had given up everything because he knew
[15:40]that everything that he owned was Haram everything that he owned was
[15:45]from harammani he says I went right away with some of the
[15:48]friends and we bought him some clothes we got him some food
[15:53]because this man has nothing now he did a 12 hour he
[15:55]became empty because everything that he had was built on the Haram
[15:59]he said a while later I heard news that this man is
[16:06]dying this man he was doing the Toba and he came to
[16:08]that so he said I went and I visited him he says
[16:17]he said I was sitting next there and he was going through
[16:21]the moments of death then he fainted and then he woke up
[16:31]and then when he woke up he looked at me and he
[16:33]tells me he woke up and he tells him your man and
[16:43]kept his promise with me the man he saw at the moment
[16:48]of death he saw Paradise at the moment of death he saw
[16:51]that Allah has forgiven him so he came that close and he
[16:56]said he kept his promise he says I was going to Medina
[17:05]and I went the first thing I knew I go and I
[17:06]visited Imam he says as soon as I opened the door of
[17:11]the house I have one foot in the house and I'm not
[17:14]in the house yet and I'm sad that he saw me as
[17:18]soon as he saw me he says he says I kept my
[17:25]promise with your with your friend and this shows that if a
[17:33]person is truly sincere in their Toba this person is truly sincere
[17:37]then Allah will answer the dawn Allah has promised to answer the
[17:43]laws another very important Point how do I know that God has
[17:49]answered me how do I know that God has forgiven me and
[17:52]that is that instead of just focusing on the past and cleansing
[17:57]the past we have to also focus on a brighter future make
[18:01]your tomorrow make your today be a good day if I had
[18:06]problems with my prayer in the past that doesn't mean that I
[18:08]should have a problem with my prayer tomorrow if I had problem
[18:12]with my fasting in the past that doesn't mean I should have
[18:14]a problem tomorrow if I had a problem with my parents with
[18:17]people fix this since what is remaining of your life and if
[18:22]we change our lifestyle we change these habits then Allah will cleanse
[18:31]us Allah says in the Quran foreign so here Allah says uphold
[18:45]the three daily prayers the three daily wives of prayers that you
[18:49]have and then right away Allah says the Good Deeds if you
[18:58]live a lifestyle of good habits a good lifestyle where you are
[19:02]not committing sins or you're not doing Haram then Allah will forgive
[19:08]you now my dear brothers and sisters another very important question the
[19:13]first question that we asked is how do I know God has
[19:15]answered me another one is what if God doesn't answer my prayers
[19:21]so people they say I've been doing Dua for something it's been
[19:23]many years now and I haven't gotten what I wanted why isn't
[19:28]God answering my why isn't God answering my prayers well of course
[19:35]this is this requires more time because the Dua there's a methodology
[19:41]of asking Allah turning to Allah and we need to keep in
[19:45]mind that that's why God is God and I am me is
[19:50]going to always answer me for everything that I wanted then that
[19:59]means where's the and where's the Lord Allah one has the most
[20:02]knowledge Allah is the most knowledgeable so sometimes I ask for something
[20:09]but I don't know my best interest in mind as for something
[20:13]that ends up hurting me I as for something that ends up
[20:19]harming me or harming other people and Allah does not answer all
[20:21]of our duas because our knowledge is very limited Allah is the
[20:27]one who has the unlimited knowledge in Allah knows what's better for
[20:34]us Allah says in the Quran sometimes for evil thinking that they
[20:47]are going to offer something good we don't know maybe I'm asking
[20:50]for money but that money ends up harming me maybe I want
[20:56]to go on a vacation I want to go in a particular
[20:59]place and that ends up hurting me maybe I want to marry
[21:04]a particular person I'm that person is going to be bad for
[21:08]me so Allah does not answer my dog and then we get
[21:10]obsessed why isn't God answering us has not been answered right now
[21:33]this is better for me because because God knows what is best
[21:37]so this is sometimes because Allah knows what's best that's why the
[21:42]God is Not answerable Another Time it doesn't have to do with
[21:44]God Allah says I will answer you well I have a lifestyle
[21:50]of bad habits that come in between my Dua being answered if
[21:54]I'm not changing my life my God how's that going to be
[21:58]answered I'm asking for hidayah I'm asking for guidance but I'm not
[22:01]taking it when it's coming to me I'm rejecting it I'm living
[22:06]a sinful lifestyle this is why Allah the sins they come in
[22:25]between the Dua being answered the sins they blocked coming down the
[22:30]sins block our Dua from reaching Allah so we have to we
[22:37]have to cleanse ourselves from the sins then our duas will be
[22:43]answered and another very important point when it comes to Dua is
[22:46]that we have to be patient Allah doesn't function the way we
[22:52]want some of us we want something right now and it has
[22:55]to happen right now Allah says no I will give you the
[22:58]best for you at the right time for you that is the
[23:01]time that I will give you you have to be patient Allah
[23:05]tells Musa when they cross they cross the the ocean Allah says
[23:14]oh Allah save us Allah tells them you and your brother Arun
[23:23]your husband answer Ed for 4 .
[23:28]for 40 years there was none eventually Allah answers Allah wanted to
[23:34]test them so we have to also keep that in mind Allah
[23:36]is a wisdom and the way things are we ask Allah to
[23:43]accept all of our duas to cleanse us to make us from
[23:48]those who benefited and took advantage of these holy nights of the
[23:54]month of Ramadan people [Music] is foreign foreign Muhammad Ali while Sharif
[25:50]Muhammad brothers and sisters our religion our Islam is not just spirituality
[26:01]and prayers and Dua and a personal relationship with God religion is
[26:08]a lifestyle Allah wants you as a religious person someone who praise
[26:15]someone who fasts someone who goes to had to be a good
[26:21]person to be a person who is a good family person a
[26:23]good husband a good wife a good brother a good son a
[26:30]good Community member and someone who defends the oppressed as well in
[26:35]Islam standing against Injustice is a religious Duty standing against oppression and
[26:45]joining the good and forbidding the evil speaking to the London and
[26:49]not answering to the call of the volume of an oppressor this
[26:56]is a religious Duty the one who is quiet in a time
[27:07]where they have to speak quiet in a time where they have
[27:11]to speak against Injustice this person is like a shaitaan shaytan so
[27:16]we need to make sure that our Salah and our ahmal and
[27:23]our Deeds have an impact on our lives if my prayers do
[27:28]not have an impact on my life if my prayers don't make
[27:30]me a person who defends the oppressed then why has my prayer
[27:34]done for me my prayer is supposed to change me as a
[27:37]person if I've been praying but I'm still quiet I don't say
[27:46]anything I see something wrong I see something and I remain quiet
[27:49]then this is wrong we have to speak out against the injustice
[27:55]and this is the meaning of a prayer that a person truly
[28:02]benefits from and we have a duty we have a duty to
[28:05]speak out we have a duty to defend the oppressed today in
[28:10]some societies they want people to live a secular lifestyle what does
[28:14]that mean that means you go to the church you go to
[28:18]the mosque you go to the synagogue you pray and then live
[28:21]your life however you want but in Islam it's like that it's
[28:27]not like that in Islam my prayer and the way that I
[28:28]live my life they're all connected with one another they're all attached
[28:31]to one another and that means that if I'm praying now I
[28:37]have to remember those who are in need those who are suffering
[28:40]and I have to defend the oppressed now if any of you
[28:53]saw a moon color as any one of you saw something wrong
[28:59]then you have to try to change it foreign and if you
[29:11]can't with your hands or with your tongue then you do it
[29:16]with your heart at least in your heart you should know where
[29:18]the heart is and where the battle is and then he says
[29:24]so my dear brothers and sisters we have a duty to if
[29:31]we see oppression we have to speak out and our imams he
[29:36]was a man who he stood with the oppressed always we remember
[29:43]the million in his past nights you know as a person who
[29:48]stood always would be oppressed against the oppressors he says if all
[29:54]of the Arabs as all of the Arabs they gathered to fight
[30:00]me I would not run away why because I have to defend
[30:05]the oppressed I have to defend those who are suffering those who
[30:09]My Religion teaches me to stand for this is why is known
[30:15]as the father of the orphans the father of the oppressed this
[30:21]is and if we are sincere and true followers of this great
[30:26]man and followers of Islam then we have to also do the
[30:32]same it says it says I heard from rasulullah he says if
[30:45]any one of you sees an oppressive Tyrant that is breaking the
[30:51]boundaries of God breaking his Covenant with God Allah and this person
[31:02]does not say anything then you will be with that Tyrant Allah
[31:05]will bless you with that title now my dear brothers and sisters
[31:09]there's a lot of Oppression going on right now and this this
[31:15]last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan has been declared by
[31:23]Imam Khomeini as the day of goods the International Day of goods
[31:27]and every day here right now every day there's this month is
[31:31]for this people a day for this group of people there should
[31:35]be a day for the oppressed there should be a day for
[31:37]a a place this is a place of prophets this is a
[31:53]place of NBR this is a place where the Revelation was revealed
[31:57]but now it has become a place where there's oppression going on
[32:03]every day where tyranny is going on every day and we as
[32:05]Muslims we have a duty if we can change the situation then
[32:11]we change it if we can't we have to speak out against
[32:13]it speak out against it right now you see every day the
[32:18]occupying Israeli forces every day they're crossing the boundaries every day they're
[32:24]Crossing every year they keep crossing the red line because they see
[32:27]everyone's quiet because they see they got a green light from America
[32:33]they have a green light from Congress and Europe these countries that
[32:37]stand for democracy and they stand for the oppressed supposedly but now
[32:43]all these years there's apartheid going on and they occupy Palestinian areas
[32:50]and you see they remain quiet so my dear brothers and sisters
[32:55]yesterday we all did Dua and we have to pray for the
[32:59]Muslim we have to pray for the oppressed but we have to
[33:02]also act we have to also have action by itself without action
[33:08]will not do much and there is a a protest or a
[33:11]gathering going on and this happens every year at 6 pm today
[33:16]at the Henry Ford Centennial library on Michigan Avenue we ask you
[33:20]all to go and support and be there but this shouldn't just
[33:25]be a protest every year we're protesting and it's not doing something
[33:28]if you have political influence if you have Financial influence any type
[33:33]of influence you have you have to use that to defend the
[33:36]approach another point my dear brothers and sisters and we we've been
[33:40]talking about this here in this community for the past week is
[33:46]that as you see this place has been rented and it's going
[33:50]to be one year that we've been in this place and alhamdulillah
[33:54]this is a good problem to have but we have reached our
[33:58]capacity at many levels where the Sunday School it's become very tight
[34:02]for them many programs we have to limit the space when we
[34:07]have celebrations for the births of the imams for some of the
[34:10]events and some people when they see that the space is tight
[34:13]they don't come because they people want a comparable place to worship
[34:19]people want a place where they could gather so the members here
[34:23]they have we have embarked on inshallah trying to find a permanent
[34:28]location that is suitable for the community for the growing community and
[34:32]inshallah the focus is on families the focus is on youth but
[34:37]we cannot do that on our own we cannot do that on
[34:42]our own as a community we all have to stand together we
[34:44]have the collective responsibility of building Islam for the future Generations don't
[34:50]to be asked about my children and my grandchildren and the and
[34:54]the family after what did I do to make sure that we
[35:00]pass on this beautiful religion when do we do to pass on
[35:02]the beautiful message of the azerbate to our children and our future
[35:06]Generations what did we do to tell others about the religion of
[35:11]Islam and this Center here this is the only center for the
[35:14]followers of the other baits anywhere west of Dearborn Heights so you
[35:17]have people coming from Ann Arbor we have people coming from Ann
[35:22]Arbor every day we have people from Novi from from Plymouth we
[35:25]have people from Northville from Livonia from other places they're coming here
[35:30]and they're benefiting so we have the collective responsibility my dear brothers
[35:36]and sisters so I have two requests one is that I want
[35:39]everyone to go and tell your family and tell your friends to
[35:44]try to collect the funds so that eventually we can purchase something
[35:48]we were looking at last we were looking at a church but
[35:52]there's not that many churches here there's one church that's for sale
[35:57]and Plymouth and it's 0.3 Acres it's very small there's no parking
[36:02]space our second option is to purchase a piece of land and
[36:04]if we purchase a piece of land then you can build a
[36:07]gym on it then you can build classrooms then you could do
[36:11]so much with it there's so much that you can do for
[36:14]the future of the community so what we have what we're requesting
[36:17]and we want you to participate in this and also tell your
[36:23]family and your friends well we're requesting for the 99 Names of
[36:28]Allah there are 99 Names of Allah for each name give five
[36:34]thousand dollars if you can and if you can give more on
[36:38]behalf of your mahomin on behalf of other people this will be
[36:42]a Sada kajaria meaning that we will be buried in our Graves
[36:47]we will be dead and people will come here and they will
[36:49]pray and we will receive the tawab this is what Sada kajari
[36:54]is we receive the benefit we receive the reward so this is
[36:58]one and then another tier a second tier of support is app
[37:02]for the 114 surahs in the Quran there's 114 surahs in the
[37:09]Quran for the name of one Surah give three thousand dollars if
[37:13]we reach 99 names and three thousand at 114 then there's a
[37:19]piece of land that we're looking at now it's not for sure
[37:21]we don't know if this will go through but if this goes
[37:25]through then this would be a blessing if it does not go
[37:27]through then we will remain looking until we find something for the
