[0:14]m [Music] [Music] muhammad the early days of islam the muslims were
[1:36]persecuted living up to the islamic values and practicing the religion of
[1:43]islam was not easy in fact the majority of the life of
[1:52]rasulallah was all difficulties it was until the last two three years
[1:55]that allah describes before it was all difficult in mecca the muslims
[2:08]they were persecuted they were sanctioned they were no one was allowed
[2:14]to buy from them trade with them no one was allowed to
[2:16]marry from them there was an embargo on them and they were
[2:23]being tortured they were being tortured the first shahada in islam are
[2:28]the parents of amar ammar yasser and somaya they were killed because
[2:35]of their faith they were killed because they believe in allah subhanahu
[2:40]wa ta'ala so the muslims the initial muslims who are living in
[2:47]mecca they were living under very difficult times very very difficult times
[2:53]they say that from the hunger they used to rasulullah used to
[2:58]tie a rock to his stomach now i don't know how that
[3:03]functions it keeps someone from falling or it kind of helps someone
[3:09]you know removes the pain of the hunger we have not even
[3:15]experienced that but this is how difficult things were for rasulallah for
[3:20]the muslims where when they were in they used to share a
[3:26]piece of date how big is a piece of dates they used
[3:30]to have to share that piece of date several people would eat
[3:32]from one piece of dates and my dear brothers and sisters when
[3:37]we hear of poverty in that way we have to thank allah
[3:39]every moment and every second for what allah has given us many
[3:43]of us have not experienced this we know people who live in
[3:49]probably other countries they have experienced droughts and they have experienced hunger
[3:54]and famine alhamdulillah we are living in a place where we have
[3:59]not experienced that allah and we have to thank allah so that
[4:04]this name the blessings of allah increase upon us now these muslims
[4:08]they were suffering they were persecuted so verses of the quran would
[4:14]come down to strengthen the resolve of the muslims to strengthen their
[4:20]iman because sometimes you need motivation and what better motivation is when
[4:27]it comes from allah 85 in the quran is a surah that
[4:34]talks about the believers who were persecuted and what happens to those
[4:41]who are patient and what happens to the oppressors so this came
[4:44]in the perfect time the muslims are in mecca it was revealed
[4:50]in mecca it comes down in a time where you have the
[4:53]muslims are persecuted and now you have the quran telling them a
[4:57]story of what happened to a group of people who came before
[5:00]them who were menen who were believers and the fact that the
[5:06]quran one of the beautiful things about the quran is that it
[5:09]was revealed in increments it was not revealed all at once for
[5:15]example they say the taurat and the injeel they were revealed all
[5:18]at once upon the prophets the quran it was revealed within a
[5:23]span of 23 years and the mushrikeen didn't like that because every
[5:27]time they see a new miracle every day they see a new
[5:30]miracle and it would strengthen the iman of the believers because verses
[5:34]would be revealed talking about the circumstances the muslims are facing the
[5:39]situations the challenges addressing the needs of the community this is why
[5:49]they said let the quran just come all at once every day
[5:53]we have new verses coming down new surahs coming down allah says
[6:00]this quran coming down in increments within a span of 23 years
[6:06]this is to strengthen rasulullah strengthen the hearts of the believers and
[6:12]also as a sign that this is a miracle for the non-believers
[6:18]so now surat al-buruj was revealed when the muslims were going through
[6:23]a very difficult time what does buruj mean buruj when we look
[6:26]at a building what do we call it abraj right you call
[6:32]skyscrapers abraj abroad or a big building that is very clear that
[6:37]is very visible you call that a burj now burj it means
[6:45]something that is apparent something that is visible it's not only a
[6:50]building this is why the quran refers to a lady that does
[6:55]not wear hijab means she's revealing herself so anything that is revealed
[7:04]that is revealing this is called a burj or so allah subhanahu
[7:11]wa ta'ala describes and the name of the surah surat why and
[7:25]by the sky full of constellations full of visible things now what
[7:31]are the buruj what's something that's very visible in the sky in
[7:34]the sama you have the stars you have the constellations you have
[7:40]the abraj the constellations they're families of stars right now you look
[7:45]up in the sky they say that there are over 88 constellations
[7:50]seven are very visible you look at them this one looks like
[7:55]the shape of a i don't know a horse this looks like
[7:58]the shape of you know these type of things these are called
[8:01]abraj so another meaning is it could be referring to the stars
[8:05]it could be referring to the sun these are buildings things that
[8:08]are systems things that are very visible that are in the sky
[8:12]wasab this is one qasem by the sama the sky that is
[8:21]filled with buruj then after that was [Music] there's the witness the
[8:58]shahid and the mashud that which is being witnessed here the mufasa
[9:02]in the quran they've given over 30 explanations as to what is
[9:05]the shahid and what is the mashud what is the witness and
[9:09]what is that which is being witnessed one opinion says the shahid
[9:14]the shahid the witness is because the he's a witness this is
[9:38]one and the mashhud is the day of judgment sisters please what
[9:46]is the mashud is the day of judgment allah meaning everyone witnesses
[10:01]it everyone will witness the day of judgment will there be one
[10:05]single person from us that does not witness the day of judgment
[10:07]no because everyone will be gathered at the day of judgment the
[10:12]day of bath the day of qiyama no single person could say
[10:14]i'm skipping the courts maybe in this life your the judge writes
[10:20]you tells you you have to come to court someone says i
[10:21]don't want to go like trump he he was asked to go
[10:25]to the court and he said he doesn't show up to the
[10:28]court on the day of judgment can anyone say i don't want
[10:30]to show up to the courts no so the day of judgment
[10:38]another interpretations of what shahid is they say it is your hands
[10:41]and your legs and your body because your hands and your body
[10:46]will witness on the day of judgment allah says in the quran
[10:57]so allah your hands and your body is the shahid it will
[11:09]witness for you on the day of judgment and the mashud is
[11:14]the people they're the ones who there's going to be a witness
[11:18]that will witness upon them another opinion says the shahid is the
[11:23]day of jomo and this this this goes back to hadith from
[11:28]imam al-baqarah rasool allah they say that the shahid is because the
[11:34]day of the day of friday witnesses that the people gather if
[11:38]you come and you gather in the masjid on friday that friday
[11:42]will be a witness for you on the day of judgement it
[11:44]will witness and not only friday right now you come and you
[11:48]pray in a masjid you're standing here you're praying this location will
[11:53]witness for you on the day of judgment you're in the desert
[11:55]you stand somewhere and you pray in the middle of the street
[11:59]that location will witness for you your hands you're walking your your
[12:03]hands you're using them your legs you're walking with them to do
[12:06]something good that will witness for you so yo according to the
[12:16]hadith is the day of arafah because all of the all of
[12:19]the hajjaj who are in arafah they have to be in arafat
[12:24]so they have to see arafah they have to witness arafah one
[12:27]opinion says the shahid is rasool allah and the mashuda is the
[12:32]other prophets one other opinion says the shahadas imam ali one one
[12:38]opinion says the shahada is the hajjar al-aswad the black stone and
[12:41]the mashood or the hajjaj so there are many opinions but we
[12:45]understand that the whole purpose of it was meaning there are witnesses
[12:50]don't think you could live your life in a way where there
[12:54]are no witnesses no one sees you some of us we live
[12:58]our lives as if no one will hold me accountable no there
[13:01]is accountability the place you walk the the things you say everything
[13:05]will witness for you or against you on the day of judgements
[13:17]is now here is where the story comes in because the people
[13:29]of mecca they're being persecuted so they need something to strengthen them
[13:34]allah gives them the story of the people of dude the people
[13:41]of um they're bad people means they're cursed they're destroyed because of
[13:48]their actions it's not that they were good and they were persecuted
[13:56]as a the cheek but it's referred to a cut in the
[14:03]ground this is why when someone's crying you have you have a
[14:05]stream it makes a a a trench basically so they call a
[14:13]handuk a trench when someone makes a ditch in the ground a
[14:17]trench they call that so because these were a group of people
[14:28]who tortured and burned the menin they tortured so they dug a
[14:32]trench they dug a long trench and they killed the menin they
[14:40]filled it with fire and they threw them in the they were
[14:50]watching they were watching these people be killed and they are witnessing
[14:58]these believers just because they believe in god they were persecuted the
[15:07]only reason why they persecuted them was because they believed in allah
[15:15]now who are these people who are as the story there are
[15:22]several stories but the most popular one that the mufasa of the
[15:25]quran they narrate they say that in yemen there was a king
[15:31]by the name of dunawas this king he was the last king
[15:38]of hemiar one of the tribes of hamir this was before islam
[15:42]a couple probably not too long before rasulallah this group of people
[15:49]they this king dunawas he goes and he converts to judaism he
[15:56]becomes a jewish person and he changes his name to yusuf so
[16:02]now he forces everyone to join his religion the majority of the
[16:09]people they joined his religion but there was a group of people
[16:12]in najaran in najiran in north of yemen this group of people
[16:18]they remained on their religion of christianity they were christian they remained
[16:25]christian so he came to them with his army and he forced
[16:31]them to convert you convert you'll be saved you don't convert you
[16:35]will be killed so here they did not convert because they're they're
[16:43]on a religion they believe and of course that time before rasulullah
[16:47]the closest religion to the haqq was the religion of christianity because
[16:54]it was the closest to a prophet isa was the closest and
[16:59]christianity hadn't changed as much as it changed right now so there
[17:02]were still menin there were still believers at that time so what
[17:06]did he order them to do he ordered them to dig a
[17:11]trench they dug a handuk and they tell them you convert you're
[17:14]safe you don't convert they throw them in the fire and they
[17:18]dug a long fire burning them now the mafester of the quran
[17:22]sheikh nasir makaram shirazi in his book he says how ironic that
[17:28]this was the first holocaust this was the first holocaust and who
[17:33]was the one burning and who was the one being burned he
[17:36]was he was jewish and he was burning these people because they
[17:41]were believing he says this is this was the first holocaust that
[17:45]is recorded and documented in the quran now the story doesn't end
[17:49]he killed most of them in he escaped one person escapes he
[18:07]goes to the roman king this is in the arabian peninsula he
[18:10]goes to the roman kingdom he goes to him he tells him
[18:13]this king is persecuting the christians so the roman king he sends
[18:21]the king of habasha the king of abyssinia he writes a letter
[18:24]to the king of abyssinia habasha who is christian he tells them
[18:27]go and defend those people over there so the king of habasha
[18:33]he sends an army the army they go they destroy abu nawaz
[18:36]and they establish a christian kingdom now from that from that army
[18:44]that came to establish a christian kingdom there was a general by
[18:48]the name of abraham abraha he was a general he said now
[18:54]that we've established a christian kingdom here i'm going to build a
[18:59]huge temple so that people could be on the christian faith here
[19:02]he built a temple but now he said i don't want people
[19:05]going to the kaaba why are people going to the kaaba why
[19:10]is the kaaba a place that is respected and revered and people
[19:12]do hajj there so he planned on destroying the ka'ba and this
[19:15]goes to the story of surat al-fil suratul field so they're connected
[19:23]so the time is very close you have the story of us
[19:26]and then you have the story of suratul field so this is
[19:31]one opinion of who are these people another opinion in a hadith
[19:37]from imam ali alayhim he says there was a zoroastrian king a
[19:40]majusi king one day he got drunk and he he got into
[19:48]an ancestral relationship he had a relationship with his sister so when
[19:51]he woke up he realized that what he did was wrong but
[19:55]in order to normalize the wrong he forced everyone to do that
[20:01]he forced everyone to do that and this is see the the
[20:06]psychology of a deviant person when someone goes wrong sometimes they say
[20:11]for allah i repent and there's another group of people they say
[20:13]no i'm not going to repent i want to normalize this i
[20:17]want everyone to do this and this is what we see today
[20:21]going on you see this these thoughts people that have these desires
[20:26]that are not natural they try to force it and impose it
[20:28]on everyone else so this this king he tried to impose that
[20:34]upon everyone else and he tried to he started killing them if
[20:37]they do not so one tafsir says it's the people of abu
[20:41]nuas in yemen another one says in persia and there's another opinion
[20:46]it says that there was a a prophet a prophet in habasha
[20:51]he believed and his people some of them they did not believe
[20:56]they killed him and they killed those who were believing so there
[21:00]are many examples of believers being persecuted and the muslims they had
[21:05]that you had yasir who was who was persecuted his parents they
[21:11]were the first martyrs in islam and you have until today you
[21:14]have people being persecuted because of their belief so this story is
[21:18]a reminder they're witnessing what happens to the believers just like everyone
[21:31]witnesses right now you see all the oppression and palestine you see
[21:34]oppression going on in in yemen and pakistan and afghanistan and iraq
[21:38]and syria all over the world there's oppression we're witnessing we're going
[21:43]to be held accountable what did you do what did i do
[21:47]towards the oppressed in the world woman [Music] god is also the
[22:03]witness not only you god is also the witness so now the
[22:09]story continues what does this mean it means the quran comes down
[22:28]to saying the story but he's saying i want you to listen
[22:31]right now meaning you think you're powerful you think you're strong persecuting
[22:36]these poor people persecuting bilal and these poor people this will happen
[22:43]to you this could happen to you it means those who tested
[22:50]meaning those who hurt those who oppressed the believers they have the
[22:55]adab of jahannam and ada meaning jahannam is one thing and is
[23:01]something else the fire is something else and then allah on the
[23:16]other hand those who believe and do good will have gardens which
[23:20]rivers will flow under them that is the greatest foes the greatest
[23:26]victory in this is something every needs to understand that the vengeance
[23:34]of allah is severe don't think that allah will leave the today
[23:39]sometimes we lose hope we say why are for example palestinians suffering
[23:45]all this time why is it happening like this in iraq why
[23:48]is it happening like this in afghanistan and all over the world
[23:51]allah subhana wa we said this yesterday allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will
[24:02]allow things to go because for allah time where we for us
[24:05]we are limited by time god is not limited by time but
[24:09]allah does not forget and the oppressor will meet their end in
[24:14]this dunya and in the achilles [Music] he is the originator meaning
[24:24]the first creator is allah why you are eid and he is
[24:27]able to bring everyone back on the day of judgement everyone will
[24:34]come back this is an exaggeration is one thing the four is
[24:43]the one who is always forgiving wadud loving the majeed he is
[24:48]the one who has the greatest throne today some people they do
[24:51]things for the sake of power for the sake of a president
[24:55]for the sake of a king for the sake of someone who
[25:00]has authority allah allah does whatever he wills now once again a
[25:10]reminder have you heard ya rasool allah the story of the soldiers
[25:18]the forces these people they had armies these people had soldiers no
[25:23]one imagined that this army will be destroyed no one imagined that
[25:28]this army would be destructed just like right now they talk about
[25:31]super powers right they were talking about russia being the superpower turned
[25:36]out it was just a joke they're not now america probably thinks
[25:43]it's a superpower it might not be allah is the only superpower
[25:48]allah subhanahu ta'ala is the only superpower allah is saying have you
[25:52]heard the story of the soldiers which they were all wiped out
[26:03]tamood the people of prophet saleh which were close to the era
[26:09]close to mecca they would pass by the places where they were
[26:12]punished yet the disbelievers still persist and still lie and reject the
[26:22]truth you saw the people of punish you saw the people of
[26:24]the mood punished you saw the people of dude punished why do
[26:29]you still stay in your disbelief but above them allah subhanahu ta'ala
[26:40]encompasses everything allah is the one who's watching and seeing everything and
[26:46]this is all in the quran it is a glorious quran recorded
[26:53]in a preserved tablet meaning this this book is preserved this is
[27:00]these are the words of rasulullah these are the words of god
[27:05]that came down upon we ask allah to preserve us all and
[27:12]protect us all and strengthen our iman especially on these last couple
[27:16]of hours and days of the holy month of ramadan the month
[27:22]of ramadan is coming to end we have to ask allah for
[27:24]the forgiveness for the makhara for the rahmah for us and for
[27:29]all of the believers foreign
