[0:14]respected brothers and sisters assalamu alaikum condolences to you all on the

[0:26]eve that was struck the eve that the religion of islam was

[0:36]struck the eve that the quran was struck the eve that amir

[0:42]al mumineen was struck by ibn muljin we ask allah subhanahu wa

[0:49]ta'ala to grant us the of amir al mumineen and the of

[0:54]amir al mumineen the greatest of the companions the closest to rasulullah

[1:01]the one who defended the prophet and was with the prophet in

[1:09]all difficult moments that was amir al mu'mineen ali ibn abi talib

[1:15]we began a series on imamah and we spoke for the necessity

[1:22]of an imam and how the imam must be chosen by allah

[1:27]subhanahu wa ta'ala and how the imam must be ma'soom must be

[1:32]an infallible ma'soom now who is the ma'soom who was the closest

[1:40]to rasulullah who was the most perfect of all of the companions

[1:46]of rasulullah there is no doubt that it was amir al mumineen

[1:52]if you compare ali of nabi talib with all of the sahaba

[1:58]you will see that amir al mumineen was the greatest and the

[2:02]closest to us my dear brothers and sisters allah has given us

[2:10]the greatest gift and that is the gift of the intellect and

[2:15]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has made given us the freedom to choose

[2:19]who we take our religion from and who we take our faith

[2:23]from muslims they need to analyze the muslims and the history of

[2:31]islam and the first muslims and the companions and then they need

[2:36]to see who is the greatest of those companions who is the

[2:40]one that is most qualified to lead the ummah who is the

[2:44]one that is most qualified to be the imam the representative of

[2:50]the religion of islam the one who speaks on behalf of the

[2:54]quran and on behalf of rasulullah there's no doubt that the the

[3:01]infallible after rasulullah was was always with the prophet from day one

[3:15]he never separated from rasulullah in fact from the moment he opened

[3:22]his eyes from the moment he was born in the kaaba of

[3:26]course his mother comes out of the kaaba and she hands him

[3:31]to rasulullah rasulullah was waiting for his successor next to the kaaba

[3:37]and he carried him and he used to feed him he used

[3:43]to care for him he was there for him rasoolallah amir al

[3:48]mumineen he describes in he says he says you are all of

[4:03]you muslims you know that i was the closest he to carried

[4:19]me in his lap when i was a walid walid means a

[4:22]newborn baby and he brings me close to his body in his

[4:28]own bed rasulullah used to care for amir al mumineen our bodies

[4:43]would touch i would smell i grew up smelling the scent of

[4:46]rasulullah and then he says as i grew older and older i

[4:53]began to look at rasulullah as a role model i began to

[4:57]follow him in every step that he takes and then he says

[5:15]used to admonish and raise amir al mu'mineen just as a father

[5:20]raises his own son and then he says and i was with

[5:24]him when he heard the revelation come down i tell rasulullah you

[5:30]rasulullah what is this i hear a ring rasulullah tells him you

[5:37]ali this is the sound the cry of the shaitaan because now

[5:42]that the revelation has been revealed upon rasulullah shaitaan has given up

[5:49]hope that people will worship him and then he tells amir al

[5:53]mumineen you hear what i hear and you see what i see

[5:56]but you're not a prophet this is the position of he was

[6:04]the closest he was always with the prophet from day one until

[6:09]the moment he buried rasulullah muslims don't dispute this muslims don't dispute

[6:15]that it was amir al mumineen who washed the body and shrouded

[6:18]the body of rasulullah he was the closest with the prophet ahmad

[6:25]ibn hambal al imam ahmad ibn hambal one of the four leaders

[6:30]of the sunni schools of thought he was asked who is the

[6:34]greatest of the companions after rasulullah so he says the greatest is

[6:41]abu bakr and then after him is omar and then after him

[6:46]is uthman so some of the muslims they tell him then where

[6:50]is ali ibn abi talib you have not mentioned ali ibn abi

[6:53]talib and we know for a fact that he was greater in

[6:59]knowledge he was greater in faith he was greater in jihad than

[7:03]all of the others he was the first to join the religion

[7:06]of islam he was the first to defend the prophet so ahmed

[7:12]ibn hambal he says was so close to rasulullah that he is

[7:20]not even placed in the ranking of the sahaba because the quran

[7:24]places him as the nafs of rasulullah in the verse of the

[7:30]quran states the nafs of the prophet was because the were the

[7:50]children imam al hasan and imam hussain and from amongst the women

[7:54]it was fatima so the only one the only other one that

[7:59]was there who was not from the woman and not from the

[8:02]children was amir al mumineen ali ibn abi talib alaihi salam amir

[8:08]al mumineen the quran considers him as the nafs of rasulullah someone

[8:15]who was who resembled the prophet so much that he is the

[8:18]soul of the prophet yes he was the first to believe ibn

[8:25]abbas abdullah ibn abbas he says he says first one who did

[8:43]with the prophet was ali ibn abi talib and the verse says

[8:48]uphold your prayer and give your zakat and do prostrate and bow

[8:54]to allah with those who are bowing to allah and he says

[8:59]this verse came down in ali ibn abbaaz he says this verse

[9:12]a verse in the quran asking allah to forgive us and forgive

[9:17]anyone who joined the religion of islam before us ibn abbas he

[9:23]says that the only he says the first one who joined the

[9:27]religion of islam was ali ibn abiqalib so every muslim had to

[9:32]do dua for amir al mu'mineen every muslim has to say those

[9:40]who came before us preceded us to the religion of islam every

[9:45]muslim they did a dua for amir al mumineen he was the

[9:51]first to believe and he was the first to sacrifice he was

[9:56]the first to give everything that he had for the sake of

[9:59]rasulullah when he was a child he would defend rasulullah when the

[10:07]when the would harass the prophet he used to defend the prophet

[10:12]to an extent that they began to call him qutam meaning the

[10:18]one who bites the ears off he was a child the kids

[10:21]and the the adults who used to harass the prophet of course

[10:25]the prophet he can't come and hit little children or other people

[10:29]would chase them and he would defend the prophet he would defend

[10:34]the prophet with all he had then on the night of the

[10:38]hijrah the night of the migration of the prophet the house of

[10:42]the prophet was under attack and rasulullah knew it was going to

[10:46]be under attack because of jibrail so he comes to amir al

[10:49]mu'mineen he tells him allah has ordered me to ask you oh

[10:53]ali to sleep in my bed knowing it's going to be attacked

[10:59]amir al mumineen he says you rasulullah is my faith going to

[11:04]be secure if i do that he says yes your faith is

[11:08]going to be secure so he goes and he sleeps in the

[11:11]bed of the prophet and the mushrikim they attack and then they

[11:15]discover that it is ali ibn abi talib sleeping in the bed

[11:19]of the prophet al fakhr razi one of the sunni of the

[11:24]quran he says that this verse and from amongst the people are

[11:35]those who sell themselves who give up themselves for the sake of

[11:39]allah's satisfaction he says this verse came down it was revealed with

[11:46]regards to ali slept in the bed of the prophet the night

[11:57]that rasulullah escaped mecca and then he says when ali was sleeping

[12:29]allah send the two angels yibrael and mikaeel to be in the

[12:33]defense of ali ibn abi talib and then he tells them allah

[12:37]tells the angels i have made you brothers who out of you

[12:41]is willing to sacrifice his life for his brother look at i

[12:46]made him the brother of rasulullah and he sacrifices his life for

[12:51]his brother go down to earth and defend him this is amir

[12:56]al mumineen after the migration the attacks on the muslims increased day

[13:03]after another but it was amir al mumineen who was in the

[13:07]defense of rasulullah in the battle of badr 70 of the mashraqeen

[13:13]were killed thirty five of them were killed by the sword of

[13:17]ali ibn abi talib don't be surprised when you see that quraysh

[13:22]had a grudge against ali ibn hatred against ali even after they

[13:27]joined the religion of islam that hatred was still in their hearts

[13:32]yazid they bring the head of imam hussein in front of him

[13:35]he says he says only if my ancestors the kufar they see

[13:45]that now i have the head of hussein in front of me

[13:49]in the battle of uhud amir al mu'mineen defended the prophet he

[13:54]fought and he was revolving around the prophet like a butterfly around

[13:58]the light defending the prophet when all of the muslims they ran

[14:03]away you were gone they went running up the mountain ali ibn

[14:14]abi talib and four others they stood with the prophet he keeps

[14:20]fighting and fighting until his sword breaks the sword breaks he comes

[14:26]to rasulullah he tells him you rasulullah a man is supposed to

[14:30]fight with his sword my sword is broken the jibrael comes down

[14:35]from the heavens he brings a sword and he says there is

[14:45]no young man like ali ibn abi talib and there is no

[14:49]sword like dul fikar in the battle of aqsaab when the muslims

[14:55]were surrounded from all corners it was amir al mu'mineen who went

[15:00]ahead and defeated and defeated the enemy amr ibn awad he killed

[15:07]him when all of the muslims they when some of the muslims

[15:11]began to doubt in allah subhanahu wa ta'ala even amr ibn nawaj

[15:16]started mocking the muslims he started saying i have lost my voice

[15:25]in calling you is there anyone to answer rasulullah tells the muslims

[15:31]who will go i guarantee you paradise everyone was quiet those who

[15:38]came to run for positions of power those who waged wars where

[15:43]thousands were killed for the sake of power they had their heads

[15:47]down it was ali who says rasulullah let me go oh rasulullah

[15:55]after several times rasulullah tells him oh ali this is amr ibn

[16:02]nawid this man is is a very brave man he's known for

[16:07]his bravery amir al mumineen says and i am ali the son

[16:14]of abu talib my father is the one who defended you i

[16:19]will defend you oh rasulullah so he goes and rasulullah does a

[16:26]dua for him he says all of iman has gone out to

[16:35]face all of blasphemy and shirk of course amir al mumineen kills

[16:41]amr ibn nawad and he saves all of the muslims of course

[16:47]the iman of amir al mumineen is not limited only to the

[16:50]battle today there are some they come and they try to limit

[16:54]the greatness of ali ibn abi talib only to the battlefield no

[16:58]no no no abi ibn al mumineen was the greatest in terms

[17:03]of faith in terms of spirituality in terms of charity in terms

[17:08]of righteousness in terms of everything he was the greatest this is

[17:13]why rasulullah made him the closest ones of the sahaba to him

[17:21]he was the greatest in terms of charity the quran describes the

[17:25]al baith they are the ones who sleep hungry and they give

[17:31]the food to the needy they slept hungry for three nights a

[17:44]whole chapter in the quran was brought down surah al insan brought

[17:48]down talking about the greatest of the humans the greatest of the

[17:53]people one day a man comes to the masjid and he tells

[17:59]rasulullah i'm hungry and i don't have a place to stay so

[18:04]rasulullah asks the muslims who will host this man you will get

[18:08]the faab of hosting the guest of rasulullah amir al mumineen says

[18:15]i will host him he goes and he asks fatima to zara

[18:19]he asks her do we have food in the house she tells

[18:22]him oh we only have enough to put the children to sleep

[18:28]he tells her put the put the children to sleep hungry we

[18:32]have the guest of rasulullah imagine a family that does that imagine

[18:39]someone who says we will sleep hungry and our children will sleep

[18:43]hungry for the sake of rasulullah she puts them to sleep hungry

[18:49]he comes and he brings whatever little food they have he puts

[18:52]it in front of the guest and he blows out the candle

[18:56]the man eats and amir al mumineen he makes the sound as

[18:59]if he's eating with him the man sleeps and then the next

[19:03]day the man leaves not knowing that they were hungry and he

[19:08]ate their food no one knew of the story no one knew

[19:11]what had happened but rasulullah comes to him and he brings down

[19:17]this verse those who give from their own sometimes we we give

[19:27]charity but we give things that are useless to us things that

[19:31]we don't need anymore when we have extra the ahlul bayt they

[19:34]give when they need something this is amir al mumineen these are

[19:40]the ahlul bayt this is why he was the greatest in everything

[19:45]and it was because amir al mumineen was the greatest some of

[19:50]the others were jealous of amir al mumineen they despised amir al

[19:55]mumineen not because he was lacking in faith not because he was

[19:59]late in the jihad not because he ran away from the wars

[20:02]and the battles like some of the others they despised him because

[20:06]of his justice they despised him because of his iman they despised

[20:11]him because of his closeness to rasulullah and this is why rasulullah

[20:17]he would keep reminding the muslims he keeps reminding them the love

[20:22]of ali ibn abi talib is a sign of faith love ali

[20:26]ibn abi talib love ali ibn abi talib he keeps telling them

[20:30]to love amir al mu'mineen and even he would say that the

[20:35]one who does not like ali ibn abi talib this is a

[20:39]sign of hypocrisy why would rasulullah keep telling them that because rasulullah

[20:45]knows that the muslims will be tested because of ali ibn abi

[20:49]talib the muslims they believed in the prophet but when it came

[20:53]to ali ibn abi talib they were tested when it came to

[20:56]ali ibn abi talib of the greatest some of the oldest of

[21:00]the sahaba they were tested go and read the history yourself as

[21:04]soon as the official khilafah came to him first after the death

[21:08]of the prophet they came and they sideline him that was a

[21:11]big failure and then as soon as the official khilafah came to

[21:15]him after he was in his home for decades now go and

[21:21]read the history what happened the battle of jamal the battle of

[21:26]saffin and the battle of nahrawan go and see who waged those

[21:29]wars those battles against ali some of the closest people to the

[21:34]prophet in the battle of jamal it was the wife of the

[21:38]prophet they were with the prophet from the beginning what happened in

[21:45]the battle of saffin it was and his thuds and in the

[21:50]battle of nahrawan the who used to recite the quran they were

[21:56]the quran reciters in kufa but they were tested by their love

[22:01]for ali some of the muslims they could not stand the greatness

[22:06]of ali the the man who stands with principles will have many

[22:12]enemies and amir al mumineen he always stood with his principles he

[22:16]never compromised his faith sa'ad ibn abi waqas we mentioned him last

[22:22]night the one who asked amir al mu'mineen how many hairs do

[22:26]i have this man he is narrated to be from amongst the

[22:30]first muslims they say he was from the top 10 of the

[22:33]muslims from the early muslims sad ibn abi waqas the father of

[22:37]umar ibn saad the general of the army that killed imam hussain

[22:41]it was no secret for him that ali ibn abi talib was

[22:48]the greatest he was there from the beginning he saw all of

[22:50]the jihad of amir al mumineen but sa'dan ibn abi waqas he

[22:54]did not give bayah to amir al mumineen he did not give

[22:57]allegiance to amir al mumineen and during the time of muawiyah muawiyah

[23:02]was ordering the muslims to curse ali ibn abi tal see how

[23:06]oppressed he is the muslims they had to curse ali ibn abi

[23:10]waqas even though he did not he was not from the shia

[23:15]of ali ibn abi talib he did not join himself in the

[23:18]side of amir al mumineen he tells muawiyah i cannot curse ali

[23:22]so muawiyah asks him and this is mentioned in all muslim sources

[23:27]muawiyah asks him ma'am why is it that you do not curse

[23:33]ali he says because of three events that if i had one

[23:38]of those i would have been the luckiest person ever tells him

[23:44]what is it he says one is hadith al manzila when rasulullah

[23:49]tells you to me are like what harun was to musa prophet

[24:02]harun was to musa except you're not a prophet harun was the

[24:06]of musa when musa left when he would travel he would leave

[24:10]harun in charge second he says hadith on the day of khaybar

[24:17]when the others they went and they took the flag to conquer

[24:20]the fort of khaybar they would go and they would come back

[24:23]empty handed he tells that those who went they would tell those

[24:30]who are with them you are chicken and they would tell him

[24:33]no you're a chicken you can't fight that day his eyes were

[24:39]covered he had pain in his eyes rasulullah the night before he

[24:44]says tomorrow i'm going to give the flag to a person who

[24:47]will bring victory everyone thought it was going to be dumb and

[24:51]ali his eyes were wrapped he couldn't see the next day he

[24:56]calls ali and he places his saliva on the eyes of ali

[25:03]ali ali he goes and he conquers the fort of khabar this

[25:08]was the second and the third he says the verse of that

[25:13]considers ali as the of rasulullah this is this great man he

[25:21]lived for sixty three years born in the kaaba and he gave

[25:26]his life in masjid al kufa and in between he lived a

[25:31]life of servitude a life of iman a life of closeness to

[25:36]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala on a night like this my dear brothers

[25:41]and sisters he is in the house of his daughter un kulthum

[25:50]and he breaks his fast in the house of un kulthum she

[25:56]comes and she brings the iftar for him she brings the food

[25:59]for him he sees that she has brought several types of food

[26:04]in front of him he's looks at her he tells her oh

[26:08]my dear daughter when have you seen me eat when i have

[26:13]two types more than two types of food in front of me

[26:19]she had placed salt and a dry bread and some yogurts or

[26:25]milk so he tells her to take away the milk he tells

[26:29]her i saw rasulullah in my dream and he tells me aliyah

[26:34]it is these hours you will soon join us in the last

[26:39]ten days of ramadan you will be with us oh ali ibn

[26:43]abi iqbal that night would sleep and wake up he would look

[26:51]at the stars look at the sky and he would say rasulullah

[27:01]this is the night that rasulullah told me about this is the

[27:06]night that my beard will be drenched with my blood amir al

[27:12]mumminin as it came close to fajr amir al mumminin he got

[27:17]up and he as he was leaving the house he had his

[27:21]belt wrapped around him as he was opening the door his belt

[27:27]unbuckled he began to tie his belt and he began to say

[27:55]he goes to the masjid he sees abdul rahman ibn maljem sleeping

[28:01]on his stomach he tells him oh man don't you know that

[28:05]this is the sleep of the shaitan get up it's time to

[28:09]pray then amir al mumineen he goes and he calls the adhan

[28:15]one last time the people of kufa they all hear the adhan

[28:20]of amir and mummini and ali ibn abi talib then he goes

[28:26]to his mehrab the final time ali ibn abi talib enters the

[28:32]mehrab he begins to pray he recites the quran he recites the

[28:39]then he goes into a quor then he goes into a sajdah

[28:47]as he lifts his head from the sujood abdul rahman ibn muldjam

[28:53]strikes him on his head and he ran what menin falls in

[28:59]the mikra and the first words that he utters were i am

[29:08]victorious by the lord of the kaaba these were one words ali

[29:13]called out and another word jibrael called out between the heavens a

[29:21]sound that everyone heard at that time and the other one fell

[29:45]in a pool of his of his own blood he calls imam

[29:50]al hassan he tells imam al hassan to continue the prayer and

[29:55]they carry him they carry him later on imam al hassan and

[29:59]imam al hussein they carry him to the house each one wants

[30:02]to take him to their own house but he says take me

[30:06]to my house take me to my home as they're carrying him

[30:12]a while later tells them let me walk on my own they

[30:16]tell him why he says because zaynab is at the door and

[30:21]she's gonna see me being carried like this and this will break

[30:25]the heart of zaynab dear brothers and sisters tonight is a night

[30:43]of dua do dua for the mummeneen do dua for the hastening

[30:47]of the reappearance of the imam of our time i will conclude

[30:51]because there's another program after this
