Description of Kursi

[0:00]muhammad respected brothers and sisters inshallah we will continue the tafsir of
[0:23]ayatul kursi which is considered the greatest verse in the quran the
[0:29]greatest verse in the holy quran we will inshallah begin with this
[0:34]verse before i begin i wanted to share a hadith from amir
[0:38]al mumineen ali ibn abi talib alaihi salam in which he speaks
[0:42]about the importance of this verse and how it's a form of
[0:46]protection from many of the evils and many of the problems out
[0:52]there and this is especially at this time that we are living
[0:57]in we have to hold on to the quran and we have
[1:00]to hold on to the protection of the quran and the protection
[1:05]of amir al mu'mineen he says i don't know of anyone who
[1:23]has fully comprehended the religion of islam and his intellect and their
[1:29]mind has comprehended the religion of islam that would sleep a night
[1:35]without reciting ayat al qursi so this shows us how important it
[1:39]is that amir al muminin says i can't comprehend of a person
[1:43]who has truly understood the whole religion of islam that would sleep
[1:48]a night without reciting ayat al qursi and then amir al mumineen
[1:51]he recited this verse allah amir al mumineen he recited the first
[2:06]part of the only the first verse the one verse so this
[2:10]is also proof that ayatul qursi is actually one ayat the other
[2:15]two verses are attachments to ayatul qursi and then he says so
[2:20]he finished finishes if you can comprehend what is ayatul qursi and
[2:37]the magnitude of and the importance of this holy verse then you
[2:42]would never leave it in any situation you would always be reciting
[2:49]ayatul qursi and then he says he says amir al mu'mineen says
[2:56]rasulullah told me and he said i was given from a treasure
[3:09]chest under the of allah and not a prophet before me has
[3:18]received and then he says says i never slept a single night
[3:35]from the day i heard rasulullah telling me about the reward of
[3:39]ayatul qursi and the magnitude of it i never slept a single
[3:44]night without reciting it before falling asleep so this was one word
[3:50]to share about the importance of ayatul qursi now we will move
[3:53]on to the tafsir to the exegesis of this holy verse we
[3:58]came to this segment of the verse we were talking about in
[4:06]the beginning so we explained that allah to allah belongs everything in
[4:20]the samawat in the heavens and on earth and then now the
[4:24]next part is and this is also a continuation of allah the
[4:32]definition of allah we said allah allah there's no god other than
[4:37]him allahu the living the ever living he doesn't sleep these are
[4:52]all descriptions of god now to prove the power of allah we
[4:59]say who is it that can intercede with him except by his
[5:08]permission meaning that who can who has authority who has power independently
[5:15]without allah all power anyone who stands anyone who speaks anyone who
[5:21]does anything anyone who can intercede any act of movement any power
[5:27]any life is by the permission of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala no
[5:31]one is independent of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala no one could say
[5:36]i have power have authority i have knowledge i have anything but
[5:42]by myself independently without allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and no one can
[5:46]intercede with him except by his permission now why is allah subhanahu
[5:50]wa ta'ala talking about this because as we mentioned ayatul qursi of
[5:54]course it's the description of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala but it's also
[5:58]talking to the idol worshippers it's negating and arguing with the idol
[6:04]worshippers these these people they used to worship idols and they used
[6:09]to believe that these idols bring them closer to allah subhanahu wa
[6:12]ta'ala the idols will do shafaa'ab they will intercede for them and
[6:17]bring them closer to god we worship them because they bring us
[6:26]closer to god this is what they used to say but here
[6:29]allah says in the quran no one can intercede except by the
[6:37]permission of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala this means that there is no
[6:41]power no authority there is no one that can influence and impact
[6:50]this whole cosmos system this whole creation other than allah subhanahu wa
[6:55]ta'ala and this is why we say there's no strength and no
[7:05]power except through allah subhanahu wa ta'ala there's no strength and power
[7:13]except through allah subhanahu wa ta'ala or by allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[7:18]or a power that is dependent on allah subhanahu wa ta'ala so
[7:23]it is haram it is forbidden for us to believe in any
[7:27]other independent power other than allah any other impact on our lives
[7:32]other than allah subhanahu wa ta'ala there's a lot of people they
[7:36]come and they say you know there was a spell that was
[7:39]cast on me there was a magic that was cast on me
[7:42]or some people they come and they do this they drink this
[7:46]coffee and they say this is this is what your life is
[7:49]going to mean and this is what's going to mean and they
[7:51]actually believe it now we believe that there is no independent authority
[7:59]except through allah subhanahu wa ta'ala no one can have an impact
[8:03]on your life no one can have an influence on your life
[8:06]except through allah subhanahu wa ta'ala or through the means that they
[8:11]use which allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has provided but no one is
[8:15]independent of allah or the resources that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has
[8:20]provided so as we said this verse is addressing the idol worshippers
[8:25]who believe that the idols can intercede for them and we have
[8:29]many verses in the quran numerous verses in the quran that say
[8:32]that there is no intercession no one will be able to help
[8:40]another person on the day of judgment these verses are talking about
[8:44]the day of judgement in this life as well and in the
[8:46]day of judgment verse surah al baqarah verse 48 no soul is
[8:55]able to help or support another soul no one is able to
[9:01]help another person so there's no shafaa no intercession except by the
[9:05]permission of allah swt now we move on to a theological topic
[9:10]a topic regarding aqa'id and this is an issue a controversial issue
[9:17]and this is regarding the power of intercession and the ability of
[9:22]intercession intercession is shefa'a so we say we believe that rasulullah can
[9:27]intercede for us we believe that the imams of the ahlul bayt
[9:31]fatima zazaqa can intercede for us so is this okay or does
[9:34]this contradict the quran because the quran says there's no they do
[9:40]not have ownership of the shefaah of the intercession meaning no one
[9:45]could come and bring you to paradise alone without allah so these
[9:52]idol worshippers they would worship these idols and they say that these
[9:56]idols bring us closer to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala today some of
[10:00]those individuals and sects who have taken their own literal meaning of
[10:06]the quran the literalist view of the quran and precisely it's the
[10:11]wahhabis and the salafis which they say that there is no type
[10:16]of intercession and they consider any type of intercession in rasulullah and
[10:21]the ahlul bayt and any person as a form of idol worship
[10:25]and this is why they destroy the shrines and this is why
[10:28]they forbid visiting the graves and they consider muslims who accept intercession
[10:33]as mushrikeen as kuffar and they consider the shias and many groups
[10:38]of muslims as mushrikeen of course one very important point to add
[10:42]is that all muslims have been visiting graves ever since the death
[10:47]of the prophet it is this fairly new fringe group the salafi
[10:51]wahhabi group which came under after the influence of ibn taymiyyah they're
[10:57]the ones who came and they said it's haram to visit the
[10:59]graves and they destroyed the graves in the cemeteries like the cemetery
[11:03]of baqiyyah and the cemetery in mecca khajun or mughalah and they
[11:08]attacked karbala around you know a century ago so a this new
[11:15]ideology otherwise the sahaba the muslims the taberain they used to all
[11:20]go and visit the graves and visit the shrines so what is
[11:24]this literalist view it says that in any form of intercession any
[11:28]form of belief in shafaa is basically a shirk so when we
[11:32]say you rasulallah you ali ibn abi talabi yafatamat azarah they say
[11:36]it's as if you're saying you're calling upon an idol you're supposed
[11:40]to only call upon allah subhanahu wa ta'ala of course here here's
[11:46]the difference and this is why it's very important to find the
[11:49]accurate tafsir the accurate exegesis of the quran because when people don't
[11:54]find the accurate tafsir of the quran then they're going to make
[11:57]these wrong conclusions and wrong you know conclusions they're going to be
[12:02]making we take our tafsir from the ahlul bayt and they explain
[12:06]to us that there's two types of intercession that the quran discusses
[12:10]in the quran one type of intercession that the quran rejects right
[12:16]away it rejects and that is the intercession of the idols these
[12:21]idols they cannot help themselves let alone help another person and therefore
[12:26]they will not be able to intercede or any person who we
[12:30]choose without allah subhanahu wa ta'ala choosing you come and you choose
[12:34]a person and you say i choose this person to be a
[12:37]person that brings me closer to god just if we choose a
[12:41]person with when allah has not given that person authority and allah
[12:44]has not chosen that person then yes their intercession shafaa is completely
[12:51]rejected and will not be able to allah will not accept their
[12:57]shafaa however there are intercessions are shafaa's that are accepted because they
[13:03]are by the permission of allah they are by the permission of
[13:08]god now what is shafaa to be exact shafaa could be for
[13:13]example if you are sick and you're in need of something so
[13:20]you can turn directly to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala you say i
[13:24]am in need of this dua'at being answered for me or you
[13:29]can say o allah by the love by the position of rasulallah
[13:33]of amir al mu'mineen of fatima tazarah of imam al hussein accept
[13:38]this for me or heal the sick person this is accepted my
[13:44]dear brothers and sisters why because you turn to a legitimate through
[13:48]a legitimate means that allah has chosen allah chose those individuals to
[13:54]connect with me therefore we choose them to connect with allah subhanahu
[14:00]wa ta'ala and allah says in the quran allah says in the
[14:04]quran in chapter four verse 64 if they and this we say
[14:19]this verse in the quran we say this while we are visiting
[14:23]rasulullah if they have oppressed themselves they come to you oh rasulullah
[14:30]and next to you rasulullah they do istighfar they ask allah subhanahu
[14:35]wa ta'ala to forgive them and the prophet asks allah to forgive
[14:40]them they will see that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will forgive them
[14:46]why because they came next to rasulullah and because rasulullah asked allah
[14:52]to forgive them so if i have sins piled up on my
[14:56]shoulders i do istikfar i ask allah to forgive me however if
[15:01]i want my repentance my istighfar to be accepted quicker then what
[15:05]should i do i should turn to rasulullah i should turn through
[15:08]amir al mu'mineen through imam hussein through the ahlul bayt alaihum salam
[15:13]however to say that rasulullah he forgave me or amir al mu'mineen
[15:17]forgave me or imam al hussain forgave me or they answered my
[15:22]dua independently without god then this would be associating your partner with
[15:27]allah and this is shirk but no shia does that we turn
[15:31]to the al bayt because we know that everything that they have
[15:36]we turn through rasulullah because we know that rasulullah is the slave
[15:40]of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala the ahlul bayt they are all the
[15:47]slaves and the servants of god however because of their rank because
[15:52]of their position allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will accept their shafaa my
[15:57]dua i'm unworthy to speak to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala it's not
[16:00]that allah does not listen to me allah listens to me allah
[16:03]answers me however our dua is unworthy our dua does not have
[16:08]the fuel it doesn't have the power to reach allah because we
[16:12]have so many sins that are holding us down our sins have
[16:19]held down the dua therefore i need to turn to allah using
[16:25]a means o you people who believe have piety in allah and
[16:34]use the means to reach to allah get closer to allah so
[16:40]now some people ask can i just turn to god without the
[16:43]without an intermediary without the albaith without allah without the prophet yes
[16:50]you can there's nothing wrong with that however we have several hadith
[16:53]from rasulullah from the ahlul bayt that if you want your dua
[16:57]to be answered quicker then you remember the ahlul bayt you say
[17:01]allahumma salalla mahumad iyumu alai muhammad and then you do your dua
[17:05]so this is a form of intercession but this is an accepted
[17:10]form of intercession why because allah used the prophet to get closer
[17:14]to me therefore i get closer to allah through the prophet so
[17:20]this is the shafa however allah says in the quran meaning that
[17:28]the quran does not reject shafaa intercession altogether allah says except by
[17:33]the permission of allah the idols they don't have permission from allah
[17:37]subhanahu wa ta'ala however rasulullah the ahlul bayt awliyaullah the close person
[17:43]the close people to allah allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will answer your
[17:47]dua because of the rank and because of their position one day
[17:52]abu hanifa the leader of the hanafi school of thought he entered
[17:56]on imam saddiq alaihis salam and imam saddiq was eating so after
[18:00]the imam finished imam saddiq he says alhamdulillah all praises due to
[18:05]allah allah this is from you and from your prophet abu hanifa
[18:12]he said you abba abdullah you have done shirk he told imam
[18:16]saddiq you have associated a partner with allah why because you're saying
[18:20]oh allah this food is from you and from your prophet how
[18:24]can the food be from the prophet how can the ni'mah the
[18:27]blessing be from the prophet when it's all from allah the imam
[18:31]alaihi salaam he answered he says yes it's all from allah however
[18:36]allah says in the quran in chapter nine verse 74 god gave
[18:48]them and the prophet gave them what's wrong with accepting that the
[18:52]prophet gave them because everything that the prophet has is from allah
[18:55]subhanahu wa ta'ala and this is this we could say the same
[19:01]regarding any topic when you're for example who healed you when you're
[19:06]sick who is the one who heals you the ultimate healer is
[19:10]allah but can you say i went to the doctor and i
[19:13]took the medicine and the medicine healed me yes there's nothing wrong
[19:16]with saying that as long as you believe that the doctor and
[19:20]the medicine and whatever has an impact on your life is by
[19:25]the power and by the will of allah allah gives us several
[19:30]examples of this for example in one verse who is the one
[19:34]who takes our life who's the who's the one who who takes
[19:37]the soul from a person allah is the one who does so
[19:42]however there's three verses in the quran that say three different categories
[19:46]one allah says in the quran allahu yata wa fala amphus hayna
[19:51]motiha it is god who takes the soul when a person dies
[19:55]in another verse allah says the angels of death angels of death
[20:02]take the soul and in another verse allah says in the quran
[20:06]the angel of death is the one that takes the soul ultimately
[20:14]who takes the soul allah sometimes it's the angel of death but
[20:19]the angel of death does not do it independent of allah sometimes
[20:23]it's other angels of death they're not independent of allah so ultimately
[20:28]it is allah but it could be through another means and now
[20:34]we understand what shafaa is shafaa is an intermediary between us and
[20:40]allah sometimes allah uses an intermediary to connect with us and sometimes
[20:44]we use an intermediary to connect with allah allah says in the
[20:49]quran only the ones who he chooses and allows to become intermediaries
[20:54]they will be allowed to be intermediaries except by the permission of
[21:01]allah and then the verse continues allah says in the quran says
[21:15]quran he knows what is presently before them and what will be
[21:19]after them and they encompass not a thing of his knowledge except
[21:24]for what he wills so who are they who is he knows
[21:29]what is who is allah talking about he knows what is presently
[21:36]before them who is them that the verse is talking about different
[21:39]scholars they have different opinions regarding this some they say this is
[21:43]the shuffa'ah those who intercede another group another category say it is
[21:49]the those who they're being interceded for meaning someone is interceding for
[21:56]them what does allah say god knows he knows what is presently
[22:03]before them and what will be after them meaning no one has
[22:07]the authority to independently intercede because god has knowledge of the ones
[22:13]interceding and the ones who they are interceding for so what's the
[22:17]value of intercession when allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has knowledge of everything
[22:21]why would someone intercede when allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has knowledge you
[22:26]don't allah knows what's in your heart so therefore what's the value
[22:32]of interceding when allah subhanahu wa ta'ala knows what's in your heart
[22:37]so this means that they have no authority usually if for example
[22:42]you have a president and you're trying to reach the president so
[22:46]you come to the middleman you come to the middleman and you
[22:49]tell the middleman help me reach the president now you go and
[22:54]you use the middleman to reach the president because the president doesn't
[22:58]know what's going on what's what you're going through and doesn't know
[23:02]what the what the middleman is also doing with allah subhanahu wa
[23:06]ta'ala allah knows what the middleman is doing and allah subhanahu wa
[23:09]ta'ala knows what's in our hearts so therefore here this verse says
[23:16]god knows everything so this is regarding the shufa'a and the al
[23:21]mashfur allahum those who you're interceding on their behalf another explanation of
[23:28]who is them who is the verse talking about everyone one opinion
[23:34]says everyone because god has absolute authority of all and this is
[23:40]an interpretation of the previous part of this verse our god has
[23:46]dominion of everything in the heavens and in the earth so if
[23:49]allah has authority of everything therefore his knowledge is of everything he
[23:55]knows what is presently before them and one opinion is the shufa'a
[24:01]those who are interceding another is no god has knowledge of everything
[24:05]and this is the truth and both of them are true actually
[24:09]but allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has knowledge of everything because he has
[24:12]power over everything now someone might say wait a minute so you're
[24:16]saying that there's no point in intercession because god already knows what's
[24:21]in my heart yes god knows what's in my heart however allah
[24:26]subhanahu wa ta'ala wants me to pray in certain places allah subhanahu
[24:32]wa ta'ala wants me to worship and get closer to him using
[24:36]certain means to get closer to him why is it mustahab to
[24:40]go and pray in the masjid rather than just praying in your
[24:43]house because praying in the masjid will bring you closer to allah
[24:46]allah likes for you to pray in the masjid why is it
[24:49]that is greater than other nights why is it that the is
[24:56]the second night after in power and as a night of dua
[25:01]because allah wants you to do dua at that night someone could
[25:04]say no but god could hear me all the time it doesn't
[25:06]have to be laylatul qadr yes god can hear you at any
[25:09]time that you call upon however he wants you to do dua
[25:13]he wants you to go next to rasulullah and do dua he
[25:18]wants you to go next to the grave of imam al hussain
[25:20]and do dua and this is a hadith imam saddiq and imam
[25:25]al hadi and several of the imams imam al hadi tells one
[25:28]of his companions he tells his companion he tells him i want
[25:32]you to pay money to this person because this person is going
[25:35]to karbala tell him to go and pray for me meaning pray
[25:39]for imam al hadi in karbala next to the grave of imam
[25:42]al hussain the man was shocked he tells the companion but he
[25:48]is an imam as well why does he want me to go
[25:50]and pray for him in karbala the imam he says because there
[25:55]are places where allah subhanahu wa ta'ala likes to be asked there
[25:59]are times where allah likes for people to do dua like after
[26:03]prayer at fajr time between your prayers this is the time of
[26:07]dua this is the time that allah wants you to turn to
[26:10]him and similarly allah wants you to turn to him using the
[26:14]shafaa of the ahlul bayt and rasoolallah now what does he know
[26:22]he knows what is presently before them we said we explained who
[26:26]them they are we said either the shuffa or the or it's
[26:32]everyone else now what is it that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala what
[26:36]does he know different scholars they say matters of this life and
[26:40]the afterlife because what is this what's in between their hands and
[26:48]what is behind them he knows what is presently before them and
[26:52]what will be after them so what is this different scholars some
[26:56]they say it's the matters of this life and the afterlife so
[26:59]god eidhim is this life and khalphahom is the afterlife another opinion
[27:04]says it's the other way around eidhim is the afterlife what you
[27:07]are holding on to khalphahom behind you this life will be what
[27:11]is behind you not the afterlife another opinion it says the reward
[27:15]of the actions so the actions the reward that you will receive
[27:19]in this life and the reward that you will receive in the
[27:22]afterlife and the time and the place basically god knows everything allah
[27:28]subhanahu wa ta'ala has knowledge of everything and there's no limit to
[27:32]the knowledge of allah because no one has knowledge now we go
[27:37]they do not have and they encompass not a thing of his
[27:48]knowledge except for what he wills no one has knowledge except with
[27:53]the permission of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala no one no one knows
[27:57]a single thing except that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has given this
[28:01]person similarly no one has no one is guided except by the
[28:05]guidance of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and this is also just like
[28:08]the topic of shafaa this is also a controversial topic between the
[28:13]salafis and the majority mainstream muslims is that the knowledge of the
[28:19]unseen who has the knowledge of the unseen there are some literalist
[28:22]muslims that they come and they take this verse chapter 27 verse
[28:25]65 no one has the knowledge of gaib except allah subhanahu wa
[28:34]ta'ala no one in the heavens and in the earth has the
[28:37]knowledge of gaib the knowledge of the unseen other than allah subhanahu
[28:41]wa ta'ala this is a verse in the quran well what do
[28:45]we do with the many instances and the many verses that we
[28:49]have where it shows that rasulullah he's telling he's prophesizing the future
[28:55]he's telling what will happen in the future prophet isa he did
[28:59]this allah describes in chapter three verse 49 describing isa he says
[29:13]i'm a messenger from god to you i create from the soil
[29:18]something that looks like a bird and i blow in it and
[29:24]it becomes a bird and i cure the blind and the one
[29:30]with the leprosy and i raise resurrect the dead by the permission
[29:36]of allah jesus he tells them and i will tell you what
[29:47]you are hiding and what you eat in your homes how can
[29:51]jesus know this anyone who is able to do so has knowledge
[29:55]of the unseen and so what do we do with this one
[29:59]verse chapter 27 verse 65 says no one has the knowledge of
[30:03]this unseen except allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and this verse is that
[30:07]jesus is clearly saying he could tell what's what's in your house
[30:12]what you've eaten he could raise the dead and all of these
[30:15]how do you come and mix these bring these two verses together
[30:18]the al al bayt they're the answer the al al bayt they
[30:21]come and they tell us once again independently isa or the prophet
[30:26]or anyone they do not have knowledge of the unseen their knowledge
[30:30]is a knowledge that stems from the knowledge of allah subhanahu wa
[30:34]ta'ala it's the knowledge that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has given them
[30:37]it's by the permission of allah but they do have to an
[30:42]extent knowledge of the unseen because no one knows about this knowledge
[30:45]except them except them they know that knowledge rasulullah he would be
[30:50]able to predict certain things would be able to foretell the future
[30:55]but of course that was a type of knowledge of the unseen
[30:59]relative to the people of his time but to allah subhanahu wa
[31:03]ta'ala it's not ghayb to allah it's knowledge that allah subhanahu wa
[31:06]ta'ala is given rasulullah and this verse chapter 72 verse 26 clearly
[31:14]discusses this allah is the one who has the knowledge of the
[31:25]unseen allah subhanahu wa ta'ala does not give the knowledge of the
[31:32]unseen to anyone except the one who god has chosen as a
[31:39]messenger so here this verse they do not have they encompass not
[31:52]a thing of his knowledge except for what he wills so if
[31:55]rasulullah has the knowledge of imam saddiq of the ahlul bayt of
[31:58]amir al mu'mineen if isa of musa they have the knowledge this
[32:03]is because it's from allah subhanahu wa ta'ala now we go on
[32:08]to this major part allah says in the quran once again this
[32:25]verse is going back describing allah allah his qursi extends over the
[32:53]heavens and the earth what is the qursi this is also a
[32:58]depiction and a description of the quality of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[33:03]qursi literally means chair it means the chair now some people they
[33:08]have also taken this as a literal meaning that god literally has
[33:13]a chair and god sits on that chair because god has a
[33:16]body and this is kufr and this is haram because allah says
[33:21]in the quran nothing resembles allah and once again those who have
[33:28]rejected the ahlul bayt they've come and they've given god a body
[33:32]and hands and legs and a face and this is wrong this
[33:36]is not what the quran tells us and only those who have
[33:40]taken the literal meaning of the quran they come and they they
[33:43]they have this interpretation of the quran so god doesn't literally have
[33:48]a chair so this is the literal meaning of qursi it means
[33:52]chair however symbolizes several things what does it symbolize it symbolizes knowledge
[33:59]you see a teacher sitting on the chair and teaching so it's
[34:03]a symbol of knowledge and it's a symbol of power and authority
[34:07]the king sits on the throne the king sits on a chair
[34:10]and that's when they come and they give the authority and the
[34:16]the legislate laws so what does the chair of allah mean in
[34:22]this verse god's chair extends over the heavens and the earth what
[34:29]does it mean when the qursi of god extends the samawat the
[34:34]heavens and the earth here there are three opinions and they are
[34:41]all valid and they are all acceptable opinions what are they one
[34:46]is the qursi it's a symbol of the power of allah subhanahu
[34:51]wa ta'ala it means the power of god extends over the heaven
[34:59]and the earth so anything of material anything that is physically that
[35:05]is material the qursi of allah has encompassed that and it has
[35:11]power over that now there's other verses that talk about the aarsh
[35:16]of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala what is the aarsh and what is
[35:19]the qursi qursi is something that you sit on so it's a
[35:23]lower arsh it's something that is raised arsh has it's a throne
[35:28]it has it has high foundations and this is why allah says
[35:32]in the quran yahmilu the arsh is carried it's high it's in
[35:36]a higher rank so scholars and from the hadith we understand that
[35:40]the arsh of allah is higher than the qursi and it has
[35:44]more power and authority than the qursi so what this opinion says
[35:49]that the power the qursi extends over anything it has power over
[35:54]anything material while the throne the aarush extends over anything non material
[36:01]so the throne has authority over the souls and the angels and
[36:05]the non material aspect of creation while the qurse has authority over
[36:11]the material aspect of creation so you have qurse and arsh they're
[36:16]both literal they're both mean chair but qurse is any chair that
[36:20]you sit on is qurse arsh is only the one that the
[36:24]king or the powerful person sits on that is called arsh so
[36:28]this is one opinion it means that it's the power of god
[36:36]his power extends over the heavens and the earth another opinion is
[36:42]chair is the source of knowledge qursi it means knowledge so imam
[36:48]saddiq alaihis salam in a hadith an al imam saddad a companion
[36:55]by the name of habs ibn giyat he asked imam saddad he
[37:02]asked the imam what does it mean that the chair the cursi
[37:06]of allah has extends over the heavens and the earth the imam
[37:10]he says the knowledge of god extends over the heavens and the
[37:16]earth so allah has knowledge over everything a third opinion is the
[37:23]chair wasi'a his chair extends over the heavens and the earth meaning
[37:30]the chair encompasses the heavens and the earth meaning all of the
[37:35]heavens and the earth and the creation they're in the chair of
[37:38]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allah has authority and it has encompassed and
[37:44]his power is surrounding all of the heavens and the earth and
[37:52]this is also a hadith from amir al muminin ali ibn abi
[37:55]talib he says he says that the qursee has encompassed and it
[38:06]has authority over everything in the samawat in the heavens and in
[38:12]the earth wama abein nohomah and everything in between them and everything
[38:16]that is under the soil so all of them basically they have
[38:23]a similar meaning the knowledge the power god has encompassed everything it
[38:28]means god has authority over everything now as we said qursi is
[38:36]much greater than the heavens and the earth it has extends over
[38:41]the heavens and the earth here in a hadith from imam saddam
[38:44]he says he says what is this whole creation the heavens and
[38:58]the cosmos system and the universe and the milky way and the
[39:01]solar system all of that is is a ring a ring in
[39:12]the middle of the desert imagine you have a ring that is
[39:15]lost in the middle of the vast desert what is that it's
[39:19]nothing the imam alaihis salam he says this whole universe this whole
[39:24]cosmos system is nothing it's like a drop in the ocean compared
[39:30]a drop of grain compared to the the kursi of allah and
[39:37]then the imam continues he says and then the imam he says
[39:47]and the qursi now we said how great the qursi is because
[39:51]this whole cosmos system is a grain of sand compared to the
[39:55]qursi of allah then the imam alaihi salaam he says and the
[39:59]qursi that huge thing that we try to imagine that qursi is
[40:05]also like a grain of sand compared to the aarsh of allah
[40:10]subhanahu wa ta'ala compared to the throne of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[40:16]so this is the power of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala today astronomers
[40:21]they have identified a star the furthest star from where we are
[40:27]they say it is 9,000,000,000 light years away from earth one light
[40:33]year is about 5,880,000,000,000 miles it's the time that it takes for
[40:39]light to come one year of traveling of the light now the
[40:44]furthest star is 9,000,000,000 light years away from the earth all of
[40:50]this creation is under the control of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allah
[40:58]has kursi has encompassed this whole universe so now when we disobey
[41:05]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala let us think again before doing so who
[41:10]am i who disobeys who has the audacity to disobey allah subhanahu
[41:16]wa ta'ala that everything abides by the laws of allah subhanahu wa
[41:21]ta'ala but we have the audacity to disobey allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[41:27]the qursi allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has authority over everything and this
[41:37]is the final segment of ayatul qursi the first ayah which is
[41:41]ayatul qursi is the first segment and their preservation tires him not
[41:51]and he is the most high the most great preserving and maintaining
[41:57]this vast universe no matter how large it is billions of light
[42:02]years away these stars and these universes and the milky ways and
[42:07]all of them all of this allah subhanahu wa ta'ala it's not
[42:11]difficult for allah to place order in all of this creation allah
[42:16]has maintained it who has maintained it where the you know the
[42:21]moon revolves around the earth and the earth revolves around the sun
[42:24]and the solar system and the milky way everything is functioning in
[42:29]a particular way in a particular order what does that mean this
[42:33]means that there's organization this is the proof of allah this is
[42:38]one of the small proofs of allah that all of this order
[42:45]this preservation of this universe it's not difficult for allah allah will
[42:50]allow all of this to function in the way that allah has
[42:54]planned and this is one of the arguments that people use to
[42:58]prove the existence of god this is called the teleological argument and
[43:01]this is the argument for the existence of god from the evidence
[43:05]of order and hence since there's order then there's design in the
[43:10]nature and this means that someone has designed this so this is
[43:16]ayatul kursi this is ayatul kursi and this is why ayatul kursi
[43:20]is very important because all of these verses explain what allah subhanahu
[43:26]wa ta'ala is and then it ends yes it's no surprise it's
[43:33]not difficult for allah to maintain the order to have knowledge to
[43:37]have vast control to have all of that because allah is the
[43:42]most high and allah is the most great so this is ayatul
[43:49]kursi this is why it's very important to recite this verse my
[43:53]dear brothers and sisters in a hadith from imam ali ibn al
[43:57]hussein imam zain al abideen alaihum salam he says he says from
[44:03]rasulullah rasulullah says whoever recites four verses from the beginning of surah
[44:14]al baqarah so you start out with you continue four verses and
[44:26]then he says and you also recite ayatul qursi this verse is
[44:30]ayatul qursi and the two verses after it and here this hadith
[44:36]proves to us that the two verses after are not ayatul qursi
[44:40]they are two verses that it's highly recommended to recite after ayatul
[44:44]qursi and then he says and three verses from the end of
[44:52]suratul baqarah so first four verses of surah al baqarah and then
[44:57]verse two fifty five ayat al qursi and two fifty six and
[45:00]two fifty seven and the last three verses of ayat al qursi
[45:05]if you do that if someone doesn't it's not difficult you open
[45:19]the quran recite the first four verses ayatul kursi you have it
[45:24]memorized most of you and the last three verses of surat al
[45:27]baqarah you try to do that then here's what happens rasulullah says
[45:32]this person this person will not see anything that they do not
[45:40]like with regard to their finances meaning that allah will will help
[45:45]you in your financial matters his soul first nafs allah will not
[45:53]allow you to see allah will protect you from anything that will
[45:57]hurt yourself and your wealth in any bad way and the shaitaan
[46:04]will not come close to this person because you will be protecting
[46:07]yourself and then finally quran and this person will not forget the
[46:14]quran so with this we have completed ayatul qursi and this is
[46:19]the beginning chapter two fifty five ending with inshaallah in the following
[46:26]sessions we will conclude we will discuss the following two verses inshaallah
[46:32]we will speak of those the next two verses we're going to
[46:39]talk about that and the one after that and insha'allah we will
[46:44]try to benefit from ayatul kursi and we will practice reciting ayatul
[46:49]kursi at all times like i said it's mustahab to recite ayatul
[46:53]qursi after every prayer it's mustahab to recite it before you sleep
[46:57]before you leave the house and especially now my dear brothers and
[47:00]sisters are in a critical time where we try to protect ourselves
[47:04]we wash our hands we are careful we stay indoors but also
[47:09]we have to seek allah and turn to allah and turn to
[47:13]the verses of the quran to help us in protecting ourselves
