[0:56]going to be concluding the tafsir and the commentary of the 80th
[1:02]surah in the quran and in this session we will be covering
[1:08]verses 33 to verse 42.
[1:16]and inshaallah we will be concluding this blessed surah which is full
[1:22]of reminders and many important teachings that the surah goes over we
[1:30]covered some of the some of the themes just to summarize some
[1:34]of the themes of the surah it began with discussing the importance
[1:38]of removing arrogance and pride from our lives and regarding people as
[1:49]equal this is one of the most important principles that the religion
[1:52]of islam came with and in fact this is one of the
[1:56]greatest reasons why islam is the fastest growing religion because from an
[2:02]islamic perspective everyone is the same and equal in the eyes of
[2:06]allah subhanahu ta'ala allah does not look at your color allah does
[2:09]not look at your wealth status allah does not look at your
[2:14]social class allah does not look at these things allah only looks
[2:17]at your taqwa in your heart this is a reminder that we
[2:39]should not regard people not look at people for their disabilities or
[2:42]for for other things regard everyone equal because this is how allah
[2:48]looks at everyone so this is a very important lesson that this
[2:54]surah teaches us to remove the arrogance and pride from our hearts
[2:58]and to treat everyone equally and judge people by their merits by
[3:06]their virtues not by their looks this is one second another very
[3:09]important theme in this surah is to remind us and teach us
[3:19]to hold on to the means of guidance guiding you when god
[3:31]is sending you a book when allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is sending
[3:34]you prophets and messengers and means of guidance accept that be humble
[3:39]in front of the guidance of allah some people they think they
[3:45]know better than rasool allah better than the prophets better than those
[3:49]who allah subhanahu wa ta'ala sent to guide no allah sent this
[3:53]book for us why did god send the whole book down for
[3:58]us why did god send 124 000 prophets and messengers for our
[4:00]guidance let us not be arrogant and full of pride in front
[4:04]of the guidance of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala this is a second
[4:10]point a third point the quran the surah goes through a summary
[4:14]of the phases that a person goes through in life when allah
[4:22]says in the quran that the person and grow and go through
[4:57]the cycle until you die so this is a summary of a
[5:02]person's life that the surah goes through the fourth point the quran
[5:07]teaches us to realize our blessings we are filled we have so
[5:12]many blessings all around us everywhere we look we are being blessed
[5:18]by allah in one way or another and allah says now we
[5:41]reach where we want to cover and focus on today in the
[5:44]final part of the surah and this is going through a description
[5:48]of the day of judgment when you read the quran this thick
[5:54]book this quran you find that a major portion of the quran
[5:59]a major theme in the quran is talking about the day of
[6:05]judgment allah subhanahu ta'ala probably in every page reminds you of the
[6:09]day of judgement you recite surat al-fatiha alhamdulillah going back to the
[6:19]day of judgment recite surat al-baqarah it's full of reminders surah all
[6:22]the surahs in the quran every perhaps every single page talks about
[6:28]the day of judgment in one way or another why here my
[6:32]dear brothers and sisters this quran is not was not revealed in
[6:36]vain this quran is a reminder in it is a reminder so
[6:43]let us be reminded allah subhanahu wa allah wants to remind us
[6:47]of a very important phase in our existence a lot of us
[6:53]when you ask people what is the phases of life that a
[6:58]person goes through they say you start off in the womb of
[7:01]the conception in the womb of the mother and then birth and
[7:04]then childhood and then adolescence and then being an adult and then
[7:10]being older and then dying there's another phase there's something very important
[7:15]that many people fail to realize and fail to accept either because
[7:20]of ignorance or because of arrogance and that is the phase of
[7:26]judgment the phase of hisab the phase of accountability did not create
[7:33]this whole life this complicated system in vain if just people come
[7:37]and die and people come and die millions of people what's the
[7:40]point of that life someone who has no purpose someone who has
[7:45]no knowledge will do something for no reason allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[7:50]the most knowledgeable allah the most merciful the most just does not
[7:56]create anything does not do anything for no reason everything has a
[8:01]reason maybe we might do things for no reason you find a
[8:03]lot of people they do things from the time they wake up
[8:06]from the time until the time they sleep there's a lot of
[8:08]things that they do in their life that have no reason no
[8:15]value but allah subhanahu ta'ala every single movement everything that happens in
[8:20]this life has a particular reason and your whole life as a
[8:23]whole it also has a reason one of them is to be
[8:27]judged by allah subhanahu ta'ala allah subhanahu ta'ala created us to test
[8:33]us one of the reasons of our creation is to be tested
[8:36]by allah he created death and life to see who is the
[8:56]best of the deeds so one of the most important phases of
[9:02]our life of our existence is to be judged by allah subhanahu
[9:06]wa ta'ala and there is no escape from the judgment of allah
[9:09]today people they could probably get away from the irs they could
[9:14]probably get away from governments they could probably get away from tyrants
[9:17]but no one can escape from the justice of allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala
[9:24]the justice of allah is something that will definitely happen maybe someone
[9:29]thought that they escaped from it in this life the achara is
[9:33]waiting for them there is no escape from the justice of allah
[9:40]subhanahu wa ta'ala now the surah the quran goes on to remind
[9:44]us of the day of judgment and for the believer for the
[9:49]menin for those who worked hard the day of judgment the day
[9:54]of justice is the day that they're waiting for because a lot
[9:57]of the men a lot of the believers they were oppressed in
[9:59]this life their rights were taken away from them so they are
[10:03]waiting for the day of justice and on the other hand the
[10:09]oppressors the tyrants who oppressed who abused who assaulted other people they
[10:15]are afraid of the day of justice because they know that there's
[10:18]you can't come and bribe god you can't come and cheat the
[10:21]system with allah maybe you can cheat the system here a few
[10:25]days ago there there was an article that said trump before leaving
[10:34]office he allowed a person to leave prison and this person had
[10:43]been sentenced for over 800 years in prison president trump with one
[10:46]letter an out a few hours before before leaving office he comes
[10:51]and he he gives this person um the the freedom the past
[10:58]to leave with allah there's justice now yes we believe in shafa
[11:03]ah we believe in intercession but the shafa is going to be
[11:07]with those who are worthy of shafa like rasulallah like the quran
[11:12]like the adhd like fatima knows that what they choose is going
[11:18]to be the right thing so the day of justice is a
[11:23]very important day in our existence it's a day of happiness to
[11:26]the minion to the believers and it's a day of shame and
[11:30]sorrow for the non-believers he says he says the day of the
[11:45]day of justice for the oppressor is going to be worse than
[11:48]the day of oppression for the one who was oppressed if you
[11:52]were oppressed in your life that was a difficult day for you
[11:57]if you were oppressed by an individual that was a very difficult
[12:01]day for you maybe that person is living comfortably happily but on
[12:07]the day of judgment on the day of justice that person that
[12:13]violent is going to receive a much more severe punishment this person
[12:19]is going to be very regretful because in this life you go
[12:23]through difficulties you go through challenges you suffer from poverty from issues
[12:27]and then this life moves on but the day of judgment heaven
[12:30]is eternal and for the violence some of them the afterlife is
[12:36]also everlasting and the punishment is also everlasting this is why the
[12:41]oppressors they hate accountability this is why the this is why the
[12:49]tyrants they hate justice they're afraid of justice for 24 years he
[12:54]was left in his home he wasn't given his right even though
[12:57]rasulallah gave it to him god gave it to him he was
[12:59]left in his home as soon as they gave him authority three
[13:03]groups of people waged war against the miran the people of jamal
[13:17]and mahawya why did they fight against amir and muhammadin is it
[13:20]because amir mohammadin was not leading properly no amir mohammadin was leading
[13:25]very properly and he was following and abiding by the quran but
[13:31]one of the reasons is they could not stand the justice of
[13:35]ali this is why they fought but on the day of judgment
[13:38]there is no escape from the justice of allah subhanahu ta'ala a
[13:43]few days ago there was an interview that was revealed by saudi
[13:47]channel which they did they ran an interview with the daughter of
[13:55]saddam saddam the one the tyrant who ruled iraq and he killed
[13:58]millions of people millions of um people were buried in mass graves
[14:04]thousands and millions of people were killed in the iran war in
[14:08]the attack of kuwait and in killing his own people and for
[14:14]close to 30 years around 30 years that he was ruling he
[14:18]was ruling with an iron fist with oppression and he was a
[14:24]tyrant he was the most powerful person in iraq his daughter was
[14:28]asked a few days ago in this interview she was asked since
[14:33]the father of saddam what was the most difficult experience for you
[14:38]what was the worst thing that you experienced she said the worst
[14:42]experience for me since 2003 until until today the day of the
[14:47]interview she says the worst part for me was seeing my father
[14:53]in the courtroom seeing my father in the courts being judged subhan
[14:58]allah and this goes in line with the words of him the
[15:09]violence cannot hand pun the day of justice they can't handle it
[15:13]it's too difficult for them and she said it in her own
[15:21]words saddam he couldn't handle justice and his family could not handle
[15:24]justice in this life now imagine the justice in the achara woman
[15:31]if you kill one person it's as if you have killed all
[15:36]of humanity now imagine someone who was responsible for the murder of
[15:38]millions of people hundreds of thousands of people were killed and executed
[15:44]people who did not even have the privilege of standing in front
[15:50]of a judge now she can't it was too difficult for her
[15:54]to hear that and see her father standing in front of a
[15:57]judge and receiving justice her father killed people without even giving them
[16:02]the opportunity to stand in front of a judge they were killed
[16:05]in mass graves they were gassed with chemical weapons so anyways this
[16:14]surah it says it talks about faith now we begin verse number
[16:20]33 faith but when there comes the deafening blast we mentioned when
[16:28]we talk about the day of judgment that there are two blasts
[16:33]blowing in the trumpet there is one which will kill every person
[16:38]every remaining being every living being will die even the angels even
[16:44]jibrael and mikhail and israel and the angel of death himself they
[16:50]will all die this is the first and then after who knows
[16:54]how long there's another blast another blast and that is a blast
[17:00]that will wake everyone up and everyone will be raised from their
[17:06]grave so this is talking about that one the deafening blast it's
[17:10]such a loud blast that will wake everyone from their dead from
[17:16]their graves and allah subhanahu ta'ala describes it in another surah in
[17:20]the quran allah everyone will wake up from their graves some people
[17:35]have been in their graves for millions and billions of years they
[17:38]wake up and they say what is this who woke us up
[17:41]we were who who woke us up so that we are going
[17:46]to be judged for our actions this is a dreadful moment for
[17:50]the kuffar this is why they will say i wish i remained
[17:55]soil i wish i was soiled so what will happen on that
[18:03]day allah subhanahu ta'ala describes one of the scenes the loud deafening
[18:11]blast what will happen that day on that day a man will
[18:24]flee from his brother and his mother and his father and his
[18:27]wife and his children now that day is such a difficult day
[18:34]such you know it's so difficult that the quran doesn't say that
[18:42]people will forget their brother and their father and their mother and
[18:45]their child their spouse and children no the quran says the people
[18:52]will flee and run away from their relatives meaning that everyone is
[18:56]only focused on their own on their own life everyone will be
[19:00]calling out one if everyone's worried because this is the moment that
[19:08]determines your everlasting forever after what will happen eternity will you be
[19:14]in in paradise or will you be in the hell fire this
[19:17]is a very important and deciding and decisive moment in a person's
[19:24]life so they say you know i don't want to have to
[19:26]do anything i don't want to be held responsible for anyone else
[19:31]in this life some people you know you have responsibilities duties children
[19:35]here and there you say okay i can handle the responsibilities but
[19:38]sometimes when the stress is so much you say you know what
[19:42]i don't want to have any responsibilities i just want to focus
[19:44]on this right now similarly on the day of judgment people will
[19:49]be afraid and running away yo why would someone escape and want
[20:02]to run away from their relatives here scholars they say people because
[20:08]everyone has responsibilities you have responsibilities towards your siblings you have responsibilities
[20:12]towards your parents you have responsibilities towards your spouse you have responsibilities
[20:18]towards your children and if you had shortcomings with those responsibilities now
[20:23]you're going to be held accountable a husband who has been oppressing
[20:27]his wife their whole marriage he's powerful she's quiet she's not saying
[20:34]anything he thought he got away with it but on the day
[20:37]of judgment was the angels allah will tell this person you had
[20:43]duties towards your spouse you had duties towards your husband you had
[20:47]duties towards your parents you had duties towards your children did you
[20:50]fulfill those duties or not if you did then you're happy but
[20:54]if you did not then you're going to want to escape from
[20:58]them because now because of them i'm going to suffer this is
[21:02]why allah subhanahu wa says your wealth and your children are a
[21:10]fitna for you they're a test for you some people they say
[21:15]oh i have money alhamdulillah elon musk is the richest person in
[21:20]the world jeff bezos is the original the second richest person in
[21:23]the world there are billionaires during this pandemic their money went up
[21:27]even more people they look at them they say i wish i
[21:31]was that rich i wish i had that much money i wish
[21:35]i had a quarter of what they had a small percentage of
[21:39]what they had my dear brothers and sisters the quran says your
[21:46]money your children your belongings are all a source of test for
[21:52]you allah is going to test you with everything that you have
[21:55]you have kids you have a lot of kids allah is going
[21:57]to test you with each one of them what did you do
[21:59]how did you raise them some people they just say no i
[22:03]just want to have kids without caring without raising them without disciplining
[22:06]them without teaching them values and principles others they say i just
[22:10]want money without even caring how this money came how i spent
[22:14]this money what are my am i fulfilling my duties and responsibilities
[22:18]towards those who are in need they're going to say i wish
[22:23]i didn't have that money i wish i didn't have that everyone
[22:39]has responsibilities and duties that i fulfill my responsibilities towards my mother
[22:45]towards my father towards my children towards my spouse towards my siblings
[22:51]towards relatives so this is why this is one of the opinions
[22:55]it says this is why people are going to want to escape
[22:58]from these individuals because they have responsibilities towards them another opinion says
[23:06]that when the relatives they are non-believers they're going to be held
[23:11]accountable or if they did something wrong they're going to be held
[23:16]accountable so everyone is going to want to disassociate themselves with anyone
[23:20]even if it's a relative if they have done something wrong for
[23:24]example your son did something haram now i if i did not
[23:30]raise my son correctly i'm going to be held responsible as well
[23:33]but that day people will say no no i don't only judge
[23:36]me don't hold me accountable for the actions of my son my
[23:40]wife my husband my children my parents here and there no one
[23:45]will want to have any association especially with those who did wrong
[23:50]especially with those who were on the wrong path this is why
[23:57]allah says in another verse in the quran all relationships will turn
[24:07]into animosity on the day of judgment except a relationship that was
[24:11]built upon taqwa upon the closeness and of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[24:15]and your relationship you have for example business relationship there's god is
[24:20]not in in that that relationship will probably be a waste of
[24:23]time it will probably something or a distraction from prayer a distraction
[24:27]from something i'm into for example something if that distracts me from
[24:35]my responsibilities or if that influences me to do something wrong then
[24:38]that is a bad relationship that i should try to be careful
[24:45]of so this is a very important meaning of course both of
[24:48]these meanings they could go together and they could both be accepted
[24:50]now why does the quran say first your brother and then your
[24:59]parents and then your spouse and then your children here some scholars
[25:05]they speculate they say that this is because the the outer circle
[25:09]are your brothers your siblings your extended relatives and then once you
[25:13]get married and you have a family and you have children your
[25:15]parents are in the second closer closest circle and then the ones
[25:20]who are in your house is your spouse and the closest people
[25:23]to you are your children so first you say you may your
[25:28]brother the outer circle it's gone because now i'm only holding on
[25:32]to what's close and then later on i see that no my
[25:35]life is my my you know future is in danger so even
[25:38]the second level your parents you say i don't want to have
[25:41]anything to do with them and then the spouse who is with
[25:45]you in the house and your partner in life and then even
[25:49]your children so this is a you know this is the bellaga
[25:53]of the quran this is the eloquence of the quran which shows
[25:58]the layers of people and levels of closeness that these people are
[26:02]in your lives that even the closest which is the last one
[26:04]you will also give up so this is um this is the
[26:12]quran describing how people will escape from the closest people to them
[26:22]why why will they escape because because everyone everyone will have something
[26:39]on their mind something to deal with everyone will be worried about
[26:45]something everyone's concentrating about something else so now you're not going to
[26:49]be thinking about other people you're going to be thinking about yourself
[26:54]he was asked about the ham the friendship and relationships on the
[26:59]day of judgment he says will someone remember another person or will
[27:04]they forget they asked rasulullah people about the close person there are
[27:19]three phases on the day of judgment where no one will be
[27:24]thinking of anyone what are they and when people are over the
[27:29]scale when they're putting your good deeds and the bad deeds on
[27:33]the scale to see which one is greater end at that time
[27:43]when your deeds are on the scale everyone's focused on the number
[27:45]on the scale you're not worried about you're not thinking and looking
[27:50]at anyone else second and over the bridge to see will this
[28:04]person pass over the sarat pass over that bridge or not and
[28:10]at the time where your final certificate your final book is given
[28:15]to you in their left hand that means this is the final
[28:40]certificate telling them you're going to the hell fire that during these
[28:45]three stages during the mizan during the scale during the passing over
[28:50]the sarat and during the time where the books are passed no
[28:53]one is thinking of anyone else he says he says this is
[29:16]the toughest of this verse where you're not going to be thinking
[29:20]about friends relatives family parents children anything you're only thinking of yourself
[29:30]everyone's worried about their own selves everyone is you know worried and
[29:40]occupied thinking about themselves now allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and the next
[29:43]series of verses divides people on the day of judgment after they
[29:49]receive the after they receive the verdict into two categories what are
[29:54]these categories there is one group of people that are happy joyous
[29:58]celebrating and there's another group of people that are sad shameful remorseful
[30:05]because they felt the ultimate test with allah no one will be
[30:24]allowed to speak except by the permission of allah famine some people
[30:28]are miserable and other people are very happy so as for those
[30:33]who are happy allah some faces that day will be bright laughing
[30:44]rejoicing at the good news and other faces are going to be
[30:51]miserable and other faces that they will have upon them darkness will
[31:05]cover them from the lying from the abuse from the kuffur those
[31:09]are the disbelievers the wicked ones now here the quran talks about
[31:18]the face on there are many ways to describe a person's mood
[31:23]a person's emotions but perhaps one of the best and clearest ways
[31:26]to describe someone's moods is through their facial expressions if you're smiling
[31:32]if you're sad if you're upset if you're angry your face reveals
[31:36]it the face it's one face but it reveals hundreds of emotions
[31:41]and moods so allah subhanahu ta'ala talks about the faces it's very
[32:00]uh it it's very clear it's it describes what mood you're in
[32:06]even sometimes if you don't even want to show the mood but
[32:07]you're it's going to show automatically in your face you have no
[32:11]control of it when you're happy you smile when you're upset you
[32:16]frown so your face automatically reveals your expression and your mood so
[32:20]allah subhanahu ta'ala is saying some faces are going to be smiling
[32:23]and other faces are going to be upset and in another verse
[32:34]the day of judgment the mujorem the oppressors are going to be
[32:42]known from their face my dear brothers and sisters we have concluded
[32:48]the tafsir the commentary of surah 80 in the quran and we
[32:54]ask allah wa ta'ala to make us from those who are blessed
[32:59]by the quran from those who are enlightened by the quran from
[33:03]those who dedicate days and moments of our lives and hours of
[33:11]our lives to reciting the quran analyzing the quran pondering upon the
[33:19]meanings and the message of the quran alhamdulillah was
