[0:00]in a way yes I do however it's also been one of

[0:04]the greatest obstacles to my becoming Muslim I don't think there is

[0:07]any group of people that are closer in philosophies and then the

[0:18]understanding of how reality works then the indigenous people but because so

[0:23]much has been ripped from us our identity our language our culture

[0:28]there's a term it's called generational trauma that makes what should be

[0:35]the closest to us to me I believe from the research that

[0:41]I then is the hardest hardy to do now or two because

[0:44]there is so many restrictions around them because there's they're so defensive

[0:48]because everything has been taken away but I do think that internally

[0:54]metaphysically it may helped me to recognize what the truth was but

[0:59]trying to pass that on in the community it's very hard sell

[1:06]unfortunately there are several Indians that have become Muslim and there are

[1:11]groups out there what there's a couple places where there actually are

[1:14]masters on reservations and there is a group that I'm a part

[1:20]of online but even getting them to talk amongst ourselves because there

[1:23]is so much trauma induced in so much defense and so much

[1:27]that we lose from our families you know my dad went to

[1:32]his grave denying I was his daughter when my mother remarried I

[1:36]heard it secondhand because she's not in my life and I had

[1:38]to steal pictures of her wedding from another Facebook page because I

[1:45]wasn't invited Congress moves a lot and sometimes it is very very

[1:50]lonely predicting when the holidays come up chaka ramadan this would be

[1:54]wonderful time everybody's getting together with everybody's family we don't have family

[2:00]invite me brother we go to the master oftentimes few people will

[2:07]say salaams you know you'll get a salam here there but you

[2:09]don't get too many invitations our holidays are some of the loneliest

[2:13]times there is for converts we go home alone ade really go

[2:18]for prayer and cuz I slammed everybody and then everybody goes off

[2:22]to their families and we speak a different language we come from

[2:27]a different culture we look a little bit different we woke up

[2:30]i've mastered alone most of the time so that's something i really

[2:33]wish we would put more effort towards and it's not just conference

[2:38]but also our children who were falling asleep over there you know

[2:43]he needs to be made apart he needs to be invited to

[2:46]things he doesn't he's not Arabic speaking he looks a little different

[2:53]but he's a Muslim and he was born a Muslim and that's

[2:54]all he knows and he needs to be able to be welcomed

[2:58]by his brothers and sisters in the community we really need to

[3:00]work on that or we're gonna lose our children
