[0:00]his records that they called us indios people in God because we
[0:07]were people of spirit of faith and very prayerful now to follow
[0:11]the traditional role is called following the red road it is a
[0:17]walk in a sacred way so that the most icky it is
[0:21]a philosophy of life a way of love a Dean in which
[0:23]one spends reverence to the Creator recognizing our connection and responsibility to
[0:29]all creation the khilafat of mankind in soroti Yuma's a law tells
[0:34]us that every nature has had a messenger and I have no
[0:38]doubt that my ancestors received revelation from Allah there's too much in
[0:42]the belief system and philosophies that connect to assam every native that
[0:45]i have known that have come to islam they all feel a
[0:50]sense of coming home because a lot of what we learn in
[0:52]islam is a part of what we already know from the beginning
[0:56]of time when Allah breathed life into the first human and to
[0:59]this very day mankind has never been without a guidance whether it
[1:02]be through a law to all is revealed words or the examples
[1:06]and teachings of the holy prophets or the inspiration stewardship of the
[1:10]holy imams we have always had a beacon to show us a
[1:14]way for success not only in this life but in the life
[1:15]to come time and time again within the quran we are told
[1:21]to think and to ponder to examine and contemplate all the world
[1:24]around us and all of creation because within creation allow his plan
[1:28]at his pattern too soon on and it teaches us there's a
[1:33]hadith that says worship does not lie in copious prayers and fasting
[1:37]but in the contemplation of the works of God a Muslim must
[1:42]think observe contemplate and appreciate all the aspects of creation in order
[1:47]to truly comprehend and practice the path that Islam directs there is
[1:51]an Indian story of an elder telling his grandson he said there
[1:54]is a flight going on inside me and it is a terrible
[2:00]fight between two wolves when is evil he is anger in the
[2:05]sorrow regret greed arrogance self-pity guilt resentment inferiority lies false pride superiority
[2:12]and he continued the other is good his kindness sincerity hope humility
[2:21]benevolence empathy compassion and fade this fight is going on inside you
[2:29]too son and between all the people in the world the grandson
[2:32]listed for a few moments and then he asked his grandfather or
[2:36]which will win and the grandfather simply told him the one you
[2:41]repeat with in humans there are two aspects there is the physical
[2:47]known as latavia this is the self centeredness it is focused on
[2:51]survival it's seeking pleasure and avoiding pain this is an aspect that
[2:55]we have in common with animals it's not necessarily evil but it
[2:58]is a very base instinct and it originates in negativity it is
[3:05]a conflict based instinct when we are born we have no real
[3:08]sense of self we develop a sense of self as our needs
[3:13]develop and this forms our ego we become hungry or cold or
[3:15]wet and as babies we have no means to communicate this need
[3:20]so we cry so the mom or dad comes along and they
[3:22]fulfill these needs so our first identity is based on a stressor
[3:29]and seeking the fulfillment of it Tavia is very important because it
[3:32]is a self preservation characteristic the second aspect is fitrah and this
[3:38]is what makes us unique when a lot to Allah created mankind
[3:41]the angels were confused they can see the caveat but they were
[3:47]puzzled and they asked Allah will you place on the earth one
[3:49]who will make mischief and swift blood whereas we praise you and
[3:52]praise your horridly names but a lot told them I know something
[3:58]that you do not what the Angels didn't know is that a
[4:00]long had given us the truck the spiritual aspect think of the
[4:07]names of Allah intelligent kind just merciful loving forgiving these are the
[4:13]Richards that we as believers aspire towards through free will it is
[4:17]this fitrah that is the aspect that gives us the ability to
[4:20]exceed the status of the angels and that's why Allah commanded them
[4:26]to prostrate before Matt it is the the essence of allah and
[4:30]it explains the hadith to know oneself is to know Allah in
[4:33]order for us to grow spiritually we must be able to recognize
[4:37]both of these aspects of human nature and put them in the
[4:39]proper stead both are essential but it's a future that must drive
[4:45]us natha Tavia we must understand that we are not this physical
[4:48]self this is just a carrier that we use in this life
[4:52]we are not physical beings in search of a spiritual experience we
[4:57]are spiritual beings having an earthly experience in order to understand this
[5:01]we must free ourselves from the clutter in our mind from the
[5:04]thoughts that evolved out of fear ego and desire we are not
[5:10]on lines we are the spirit behind all of that flutter we
[5:12]have to lift the veil in order to see our true selves
[5:20]again whoever knows himself knows his lord but most people are unconscious
[5:23]this is the problem with the world today humans are disconnected from
[5:27]their source they live in these tiny delusional bubbles of their mind
[5:31]and are completely unaware of true reality their attention is absorbed with
[5:35]the hurts of the past and the desires and stresses of the
[5:40]future physical and emotional suffering is a normal part of life but
[5:46]psychological suffering is not it only occurs when there is a disconnect
[5:49]from the law a law is always there but we're out of
[5:53]focus there's a famous philosopher who once said I think therefore I
[5:58]am but this is wrong you were not your mind thoughts lie
[6:02]the mind is the playground of Shaitaan and his whisper you are
[6:08]not the thinker you are greater than that you are the being
[6:12]behind the thoughts in my malleolus Alam he said your remedy is
[6:16]within you but you do not sense it your sickness is from
[6:21]you but you do not perceive it you presume your small entity
[6:25]but within you is in folded the entire universe what you seek
[6:32]is within you if only you were flat awakening the future within
[6:36]your requires intellect maturity it is with us from birth as it
[6:39]is the natural position of our soul but it basically lies dormant
[6:43]from the first cry at birth the caviar is triggered and self-preservation
[6:47]and eagle is formed and it takes over but the tobia the
[6:52]fitter I'm sorry must be cultivated it is an effort of this
[6:58]cultivation that earns us a position that allow created us for enlightenment
[7:02]is our natural state but the mind acts is avail against it
[7:05]you can feel the presence of a lot but the mind cannot
[7:10]grasp it in module bulaga ali says all praises to him from
[7:13]the height of intellectual courage cannot appreciate and the diving's of understanding
[7:19]cannot reach so how do we reach such a state how do
[7:27]we gain our focus you simply choose how many times have you
[7:32]said to yourself but thinking that it really is that simple that's
[7:36]what it's all about it is our minds that tell us that
[7:42]everything is complicated and difficult but our thoughts lie Allah gave his
[7:46]religion as a mercy as humans that muck it up there's a
[7:51]story amongst the Lakota people of a man who went hunting one
[7:53]day he was following the trail and he came to a river
[7:58]and in the river he saw these huge juicy plums just right
[8:00]for the picky he reached out his hands and he doe then
[8:05]but they disappeared in disappointment he went home cold and wet there
[8:09]was nothing to cook over the fire that night the next day
[8:12]he went out again and again he saw these delicious plums and
[8:16]he reached out and he drove after them and again they disappeared
[8:19]and he went home again cold disappointed nothing to eat well the
[8:24]third day when he went out his wife followed him she was
[8:28]getting pretty hungry and she wanted to see what he came home
[8:31]with nothing every day and she followed him as often go to
[8:34]a river and beside the river there was a tall palm tree
[8:36]but he was leaning into the river reaching for the water so
[8:41]she whacked him in the head with a cooking pot I said
[8:43]husband what is wrong with you why are you chasing illusions when
[8:49]the truth is right over your head throughout our life we will
[8:56]battle between Agnes and I man jihad al-akbar is an ongoing struggle
[9:00]no doubt there is a continual elution of in joining good and
[9:03]forbidding evil through this process of repeated actions of virtue we can
[9:08]build on Malecha a Malecha is a fortification of the soul that
[9:12]comes through repeated actions of good until they become as natural as
[9:17]breathing it is a process and an effort that to keep working
[9:19]at enlightenment however can come in an incident elevate TV has a
[9:25]program called reborn and it tells stories of converts and how they
[9:30]come to islam in the episode that I did I talked about
[9:32]the day that I embraced Islam I was sitting under a tree
[9:37]outside my apartment reading Quran now I never started researching Islam because
[9:41]I wanted it my intention was to prove it was a false
[9:44]religion I was perfectly comfortable with my faith faith and I was
[9:46]not seeking anything to change in my beliefs I had friends that
[9:51]carry the tag of Muslim and I had insulted me as a
[9:53]Christian and in my arrogance I thought it would be very easy
[9:57]to do a little research proved Islam was false throw it in
[10:00]their face and give him a taste of humble pie for their
[10:04]arrogance I thought it would be a very easy thing to do
[10:08]but on this particular day I was sitting under a tree in
[10:10]Quran and all of a sudden I felt like I had been
[10:14]slapped in the face and kicked in the stomach at the same
[10:15]time I literally doubled over and I couldn't breathe it was like
[10:21]the winds been knocked out of me but what I did not
[10:23]doubt just my pride and everything that I thought that reality was
[10:27]everything that I knew all my life how things work it vanished
[10:34]the veil was lifted and I saw true reality the world of
[10:38]myself enlightenment can come in an instant in the Quran we read
[10:45]the story of Moses and the magician's fit on was believed to
[10:48]be a god he promised the magicians that they would be closest
[10:54]to him if they had showed up Moses they to like me
[10:56]thought it would be very easy they knew all the tricks but
[11:00]when they saw the miracles performed by Moses by the leave of
[11:04]Allah submit it immediately they knew that it was real they didn't
[11:08]think about it they didn't hold a meeting to discuss it they
[11:10]fell face down right then and there and submitted saying we believe
[11:14]in the lord of the world the Lord of Moses and Aaron
[11:16]and her own is powerful and as cruel as he was in
[11:21]his threats it didn't matter they simply said to him to our
[11:26]Lord we return enlightenment can come in an instant but if you
[11:30]want to open yourself to enlightenment there's some simple steps that you
[11:35]could follow first just take a deep breath deep cleansing breath and
[11:38]then make a conscious decision that you want to eliminate the clutter
[11:45]from your mind recognize that you are not your thoughts you are
[11:49]the spirit behind them this spirit the true you when you recognize
[11:53]your true identity peace will come let go of the past it
[12:00]doesn't exist let go of the hurt that you carry scar tissue
[12:03]is stronger anyway quit chasing happiness when I graduate college then I'll
[12:08]be happy when i get the marriage when i get the kids
[12:12]when i get the house i'll be happy then when i get
[12:16]when i get we get things we lose things and this kind
[12:19]of happiness is fleeting and when it goes we feel empty inside
[12:24]it's like the man who drink seawater the more he drinks the
[12:27]first year he gets people who are constantly trying to fill themselves
[12:30]from the outside will never have true happiness because sure happiness only
[12:34]comes from the inside people who are constantly focused either on the
[12:40]pasture on the future I've totally lost the now they are not
[12:44]present they are not living they lose their entire life because they're
[12:49]not in it they're not present life is now the past is
[12:54]gone and none of us are promised future so why are we
[12:57]stressing over it so much live today except the now Rumi said
[13:04]what those is from God is time there is no greater loss
[13:07]to God and no greater obstacle to God then the loss of
[13:12]now this is the secret of all great thinker imam khomeini said
[13:17]you should become so connected with the presence that you do not
[13:20]need your mind to remind you and when you meet people that
[13:26]understand this and activate it in their life you can see it
[13:29]in their face the light the newer and nor by the way
[13:34]is real it is a tangible entity science teaches us that when
[13:38]you break everything down everything is energy a friend of mine in
[13:41]san diego sheikh ali IBN ABI talib he stated very beautifully light
[13:48]as energy the purest form of energy knowledge is one frequency of
[13:52]light truth is another frequency of light justice is another frequency of
[13:57]light faith hope and love are still brighter lights and the soul
[14:01]gets brighter and brighter with more and more virtual perceived practiced and
[14:05]inculcated have you met people with that glow it's real and it's
[14:12]obtainable by all of us this enlightenment can be a part of
[14:15]your life just as easy as it was for Moses he merely
[14:19]said yah rod and al all responded there's a hadith of Moses
[14:22]asked Allah is this just for me and I love said no
[14:27]it's for anyone who attaches themselves to me as it tells us
[14:31]in the Quran call on me I will answer you and then
[14:35]the hadith take one step towards Allah and Allah will come running
[14:38]to you when you simplify you see clearer mental clutter destructs us
[14:46]from our true self and purpose and the media thrives on this
[14:49]it is a constant bombardment if you turn on your TV but
[14:52]mute the sound and you watch it you think they're telling you
[14:56]the most important thing in the world but then when you turn
[14:58]on the sound you realize all they're talking about is dish soap
[15:01]it's a constant bombardment distraction it's like a fan that it's been
[15:08]on so long that you don't hear the buzz anymore but when
[15:11]you turn it off you realize the silence life will always have
[15:15]stress there's always going to be suffering it is the nature of
[15:20]life to have hardships but when you live a life that is
[15:22]driven by fitra you will see a purpose to it and a
[15:26]wisdom behind it we need conflict in order to evolve spiritually the
[15:31]opportunity for spiritual growth would not be present without it if your
[15:35]life is driven by pavia you won't understand this Tavia wants comfort
[15:40]but it's focused on the comfort of the body it's in constant
[15:42]motion going from one me to the next it never stays happy
[15:47]for very long it's never stay satisfied because all of these fulfillments
[15:53]are superficial any superficial fulfillment is not a true fulfillment true fulfillment
[15:58]can only come from a relationship with Allah fitra is fixed it
[16:03]knows the source came from it knows its sustenance and it knows
[16:08]its destiny a life that is guided by fitrah is a life
[16:11]from God in God to God in the 13th sort of the
[16:17]Quran Allah tells us let it be known to you that is
[16:21]only the remembrance of allah that will bring you peace Tavia is
[16:24]an important aspect of our nature we needed we utilize it to
[16:28]use this physical share that carries our soul in this life the
[16:33]body needs the soul and the soul needs the body the body
[16:36]is the resource that the soul utilizes to grow the martyrdom of
[16:41]imam hussain allah salaam it shows us this the suffering he endured
[16:45]the sacrifice of his life is a fat language our souls drink
[16:48]from the relationship with these two aspects of our nature should be
[16:51]complementary if it is the philtrum that is in the driver's seat
[16:57]then the normal actions of the physical can take on a sacred
[16:59]tone think of eating interval itself it's just a physical action if
[17:03]tha tabhi have controls you you can easily fall into gluttony or
[17:10]eating things that are haram and unhealthy but if it sure is
[17:14]in control it becomes altogether different when you do or don't do
[17:17]with the intention of the love of Allah a sacredness is attached
[17:22]to it during shelter ramadan your restraint from eating a physical act
[17:27]becomes an act of worship because of your fitrah during fasting even
[17:31]your sleeve becomes an act of worship your very breath becomes a
[17:35]test fit think of prayer you think on the surface this is
[17:39]an act of the truck however if you're driven by Tavia then
[17:42]your prayer just might be a mechanical at or it might be
[17:47]just for show and it loses its sacredness taba attaches itself to
[17:51]things of this temporal war and therefore it is limited whereas fitrah
[17:55]attaches to the eternal only a law is eternal when you attach
[17:59]yourself to a law your potential becomes limitless it in this way
[18:06]you grow conflict is necessary and unit there is wisdom atheists who
[18:10]believe that all of creation is just some sort of accident that
[18:13]there's no meaning to it that it just happened and they feel
[18:17]that they are superior in their arguments because they will tell you
[18:20]that they can do good just as well as a person of
[18:23]faith in fact they will tell you that they're good is better
[18:25]than that of a person of faith because they do it simply
[18:29]for the act of it being good and not because they believe
[18:31]that there is some sky daddy that's going to burn them if
[18:35]they don't however as strong as they feel in their argument it
[18:38]doesn't hold water and the truth comes because it's not in doing
[18:42]good that you find the real truth and the test it's in
[18:47]hardship that you find the truth in suffering they have nothing to
[18:51]lean on and they sink whereas a believer only grows stronger and
[18:57]that belief makes a sword there is wisdom in pain there is
[19:00]a hadith estates there's so much mercy in being ill that if
[19:04]we knew how much mercy was in it we would all want
[19:05]to be you all the time suffering is a part of life
[19:10]but until we stop asking why we must suffer we will not
[19:13]evolve it is a Tavia that asks why whereas fitra simply seeks
[19:20]the wisdom behind the pain we simply must shift our perspectives because
[19:23]the law tells us in court on that all good comes from
[19:27]along and the bad comes from ourselves if we study ourselves perhaps
[19:29]we will see where the bad is coming from and what we
[19:31]need to do to correct it what is keeping us from a
[19:35]law and what do we need to do to break through the
[19:41]barrier prive addiction false gods greed lust we create these barriers and
[19:47]disconnect ourselves from my source in mom's anal Aberdeen said the journey
[19:51]to you is short you are never far or disconnected from your
[19:56]pee you're never veiled from them except for the vel that they
[20:00]place themselves by having hope in other than you allow instructs in
[20:03]surat al room and so said by faith steadfastly towards the one
[20:07]true faith turning away from all that is false in accordance to
[20:12]the natural disposition which allah has bestowed pin man the fit truck
[20:17]this should be your driver in this temporary place we call life
[20:20]now there are four mental affirmations that you can do that may
[20:24]help you to lift the veil and free yourself towards the opportunity
[20:29]for enlightenment number one say to yourself I am in a loss
[20:34]presence I'm never alone wherever I go whatever I do whatever I
[20:37]think it's okay okay wherever I go whatever I do whatever I
[20:46]think I'll always there witnessing it hello is closer to you than
[20:50]your job dealer remind yourself of this repeatedly throughout the day and
[20:54]every word that you say every action you perform every thought you
[20:57]can see until this knowledge of his presence is all-encompassing impress this
[21:01]into your life until it resounds with each heartbeat create a competent
[21:06]awareness within yourself but this is ongoing that you feel his presence
[21:11]and it would truly affect your actions and your thoughts secondly say
[21:16]to yourself everything that I have been giving is by Allah all
[21:23]that there is surrounding me on me in me comes from a
[21:26]lie reflect on all the body cut all the blessings that Allah
[21:31]gives you and there is so much be grateful for it there
[21:38]is an attitude of gratitude three this is one of the hardest
[21:42]ones recognize that hardship is a natural aspect of life one of
[21:45]the greatest sales that we place between us and Allah is the
[21:50]bewilderment why it is a law in our suffering and strife if
[21:52]he is so great and so merciful why does he allow us
[21:58]to struggle than hurt life is a test of struggle and you
[22:00]will not exceed this you must always remember when you are facing
[22:08]hard that it is not the hardships of your life that defined
[22:11]you but how you respond to them train yourself to look for
[22:15]the wisdom in the struggle because struggle is an activator it is
[22:21]a fuel for change and development forth unclutter your life especially your
[22:27]mind simplify their paths of the truth direction will become clear open
[22:31]yourself for the opportunity for enlightenment we all have busy schedules but
[22:36]most of it is just an illusion that we ourselves have created
[22:41]an illusion of our minds again realize you are not a thinker
[22:44]but the spirit behind the thoughts we invested years of our life
[22:48]in education we invest years of our lives in our careers and
[22:53]these are important things no doubt and you should strive for them
[22:56]however they are not the most important things take time for what
[23:00]matters most your spiritual clarity when you have this the rest will
[23:07]fall into place and thank you for listening any mistakes of mine
[23:11]on praise those to Allah sonam away
