[0:08]your [Music] regime.
[0:22]Your raim [Music] Wash them You [Music] [Music] are one gen love.
[1:17][Music] [Music] Bismar.
[1:48]Glory.
[1:51][Music] One light [Music] is on.
[2:25]You are my only one.
[2:41]So That's The bad is from He was so thankful.
[4:29]Oh, [Music] [Music] be Allah.
[4:50][Music] amlaykum brothers and sisters.
[5:08]I probably should say all of you here either uh I either
[5:17]went to Hajj like myself or inshallah go into Hajj this year
[5:24]like myself or inshallah you'll be Haj in the future if you're
[5:29]not um like like Mahi um you know I was um I
[5:34]I was curious and and looked Google the other day and said
[5:36]how many Googled how many Hajj are going this year and um
[5:41]they told me last year they there was 1.83 million Hajj that
[5:44]went last year they expect around two millions this year and um
[5:51]you know as you know there's two billion Muslims uh in the
[5:56]world so if you divide the 2 million by two billion this
[6:01]is a 0.001%.
[6:03]So that tells a lot.
[6:06]That tells how blessed you are that Allah chose you to go
[6:09]to Hajj inshallah um this year and to do all the knowing
[6:15]that Haj is not only a set of it is uh it
[6:20]is a journey full of spirituality and this is inshallah what our
[6:26]dear guest speaker inshallah will enlighten us with um information and uh
[6:34]knowledge about this journey.
[6:34]journey inshallah so that we make sure that this journey is going
[6:42]to be the best in our lives.
[6:43]Um I know all of you know Hajah uh Hajah is uh
[6:49]a leader in the community.
[6:50]Hajan is uh a member of Mecca community from day one.
[6:54]She um she's a renowned speaker and of course uh we are
[7:00]so happy and u honored to have her with us tonight.
[7:06]Uh without further delay, I would ask to uh come to the
[7:08]podium after Thank you.
[7:18]Do I have to stay behind here?
[7:21]Are you are you YouTubing or Okay, I prefer just to talk.
[8:04]class took about two hours, but I think the majority of the
[8:09]questions have already been answered.
[8:11]I was following along when Salah was presenting and there's always so
[8:17]many questions.
[8:20]You know the will teach something and then a million questions come
[8:24]into your mind.
[8:24]Tonight is not about the rules and the regulations.
[8:33]So that's a problem.
[8:36]You know what?
[8:38]If you don't want Yeah, that would be good.
[8:43]Let's put up the slides.
[8:45]To everyone who's listening, including probably my son.
[8:50]So, this journey, you know, um, usually when I teach this class,
[8:59]when you enter, we're playing this beautiful And what I want to
[9:10]say is that's the starting point because you're not going to Hajj
[9:13]because you chose to go to Hajj.
[9:15]You said yes.
[9:17]You're going to go to Hajj.
[9:19]You said yes to an invitation.
[9:21]But that invitation came long before.
[9:25]And I may say things that say Salah has already said to
[9:30]you, but I'm not a scripted person.
[9:31]So I can't read from a script.
[9:32]I don't know how to read from a script.
[9:34]So, I only know how to speak from my heart.
[9:36]So, if I'm saying things that he's already said, feel free to
[9:39]say he covered it.
[9:41]We don't need to hear it again.
[9:42]I'm okay with that and I'll move on.
[9:44]But in that world of souls before we were created, when the
[9:52]great covenant happened and the Quran tells us that there was a
[9:56]covenant between all of us, the children of Adam, and it's okay
[10:02]that my brother's phone's ringing because he's my brother.
[10:05]My eldest brother.
[10:11]I didn't see the Mecca um he wasn't reading his Mecca chat.
[10:17]The point being when Allah subhana wa ta'ala created Adam and he
[10:21]pulled us from the loins of Adam as the Quran says and
[10:26]we became the souls.
[10:26]Some say we were the people of the particles.
[10:29]Some people call it the people of the souls.
[10:34]The souls we were all existing before these this human body.
[10:37]When that was happening and Allah subhana wa ta'ala took this amazing
[10:42]covenant.
[10:44]He asked you because your soul is fully learned.
[10:49]He said to you am I not your lord?
[10:54]He said yes you are our lord.
[10:58]The hadiths tell us that after we said yes, you are our
[11:03]Lord, we said and the numbers of times that you said would
[11:13]be the numbers of times that you would be granted Hajj.
[11:18]So, you all said it once at least and many of you
[11:21]more than once and some of you probably needed to get unplugged
[11:26]as people may have said it many many times.
[11:29]The point being that soul that was once created that never dies,
[11:36]that soul that is pure energy and that belongs to God, that
[11:41]soul that returns to God.
[11:43]Hajj is the manifestation, the reenactment of that covenant.
[11:52]That's what your Hajj is.
[11:55]We don't give much thought to the way we're created.
[12:00]But if you think about our creation, the purpose of Hajj and
[12:07]you understand that we were created to worship because that's what the
[12:12]Quran says.
[12:13]The way in which God wanted us to worship came first and
[12:21]then he created our bodies to do what he wanted us to
[12:28]do for us to worship him the way he wanted to be
[12:30]worshiped.
[12:32]Hence your forehead is here because he wanted you in the prayer
[12:39]to be in sjud.
[12:42]Hence he made a flat forehead.
[12:43]Your hands, your hands are webbed so that your hands can lay
[12:50]to the ground.
[12:49]Your knees bend, your back bends.
[12:51]All of the positions that you take in your salah were created
[12:57]for the purpose of worship.
[12:59]But we don't think about that.
[13:01]We think, oh, we're commanded to pray.
[13:04]My scholar teaches me how to pray.
[13:08]I go to Sunday school and I learn to pray.
[13:09]Now we go through these motions without understanding what's behind the deepness
[13:14]of the creation.
[13:17]You are created to pray.
[13:21]Your bodies were made to pray.
[13:24]Your frontal lobe was put here so that the thoughts that you
[13:27]have, everything in you, every cell in you is created in a
[13:36]specific way.
[13:33]And all of that manifests itself in all of the things that
[13:41]we do in Hajj.
[13:40]We may do many zadas on our lives to our imams, our
[13:45]honorable imams, and they deserve that.
[13:48]But there is nothing more important than your hunch.
[13:53]So you're answering the invitation you said just a little bit ago
[13:58]that you never thought that you would say yes.
[14:00]You don't want to leave the comfort of your home, but you're
[14:04]saying yes because you said yes and that's what's important.
[14:12]It's not easy to go to Hajj for the first time and
[14:20]especially for people who have little children or responsibilities.
[14:22]But you've probably already began to experience that somehow things start to
[14:28]align for you.
[14:30]You don't even know how this alignment is happening, but things begin
[14:33]to fall into place for you.
[14:36]Your visa might come at the last second.
[14:39]You might be nervous about all kinds of things.
[14:42]I know this group alone has had to struggle with so many
[14:44]different things.
[14:47]Relax.
[14:48]Take a deep breath because you're going to God's house.
[14:52]If he invited you, he's not going to let you down.
[14:57]If I invite to my home.
[15:02]It's a special invitation.
[15:03]It's not like if I invite somebody else say I'm going to
[15:09]go the extra mile.
[15:11]I'm going to make sure things are perfect as perfect as perfect
[15:14]as I can make them.
[15:15]Let alone if Allah subhana wa ta'ala is inviting you to his
[15:20]house.
[15:21]It is Allah who creates that opportunity.
[15:24]And that's where your humility needs to start.
[15:27]you are not creating this opportunity.
[15:28]You need to get that off of your mind and off of
[15:32]the list because if you think that you've created this opportunity, you're
[15:35]in a state of arrogance rather than a straight state of humility.
[15:38]And you need to be in that state of humility.
[15:42]So now the journey begins thousands and thousands and thousands of years
[15:48]ago is manifesting now.
[15:49]Now you're on the way.
[15:51]You're going to visit the house of God.
[15:55]Say may have covered this but the Quran is the center of
[16:02]the earth.
[16:03]This is scientific.
[16:03]If you draw a line from every part of the earth, the
[16:08]center of the earth is where the where the cabba actually is.
[16:12]And the cabba is directly aligned with what we call which I'm
[16:20]sure you talked about in the fourth heaven.
[16:21]Meaning that there's a direct connection between what is in heaven and
[16:29]what is on earth.
[16:28]You are entering the universal orbit of worship.
[16:34]When you go to Hajj, you were in heaven.
[16:39]You came to earth.
[16:39]When you go to Hajj, it's a reenactment of being in heaven.
[16:44]So, it's a descension this way and an ascension this way.
[16:48]So when you go to see the Cabba, we'll cover Mecca first,
[16:53]we'll cover Medina later because Medina is easy.
[16:55]Medina is a vacation, but in for those of you who have
[16:59]been there at least for how many of you are first time
[17:02]going to see going to Mecca first time?
[17:06]Okay.
[17:07]So let's just talk about the Cabba.
[17:09]And I'm sure I'm sure that Seyan already did.
[17:13]But as you know, there's these four corners.
[17:16]North, south, east, the west, the four corners of the earth.
[17:19]That's what the cabba represents.
[17:22]When you're in the cabba, obviously you're going to be doing your
[17:26]tawa.
[17:27]So, let's talk about a few things.
[17:30]Let's talk about that to that circumambulation.
[17:35]I want you to understand the deep deep meaning of Tawa.
[17:39]When you're circulating that during that Tawath, you're reenacting exactly what's happening
[17:47]in the heavens.
[17:47]Because we know from our hadiths that 70,000 angels are circumambulating that
[17:55]and they leave and another 70,000 come.
[17:58]This is happening the entire time in the heavens and it's happening
[18:06]on earth all of the time through the winds through tawa.
[18:09]There's always a circular motion.
[18:10]That circular motion is even in our human bodies.
[18:15]It goes against time because time goes this way.
[18:20]What I love about taw is it goes this way as though
[18:22]you're returning to your premortal to the premortial self.
[18:28]You're returning to the past even though you're in the present.
[18:33]When you are in Tawa, I always say of course the thing
[18:39]is is everything starts with nia in Islam.
[18:42]Everything starts with your intention and you have a scholar with you.
[18:46]So every single move you make, he's going to be with you.
[18:50]You don't have to worry about that.
[18:52]He's going to gather you as a group.
[18:54]You're going to stand together.
[18:55]He's going to say, "Make the nia for this.
[18:58]Let's assume it's tawa.
[18:58]You make your for your tawa.
[18:59]He's going to make sure that each one of you say it
[19:03]correctly.
[19:04]He's going to guide you.
[19:04]He's going to make sure that the resources you need are available.
[19:07]You're going to see that cabba for the first time.
[19:11]And I think you did cover this.
[19:13]And I know it sounds like a genie in the bottle story.
[19:16]It sounds like a little mystical, but it's the truth.
[19:18]When your eyes lay on the Cabba for the first time and
[19:22]you I can't help but cry through these things.
[19:26]and you are granted three wishes.
[19:28]Think about those three wishes.
[19:29]And I pretty much guarantee you that it's about nothing worldly because
[19:35]when you're there, there's nothing worldly that you need.
[19:39]It becomes about yourself, your family, your forgiveness.
[19:43]It becomes about your your eternity.
[19:46]That's all you really want.
[19:48]And so many people have told me, and I've gone to Hajj
[19:53]many times, that when they first saw the Cabba, not only were
[19:55]they memorized, mesmerized, they were kind of like stuck.
[20:00]They couldn't think of three wishes.
[20:03]I said, "So, what did your heart tell you?
[20:06]To pray for myself and my family for heaven?" Because that's really
[20:14]what it's about.
[20:14]We talk about this begin with end in mind.
[20:17]This is the beginning.
[20:20]with end in mind.
[20:20]So when you are in your to I want you to attach
[20:25]yourself to one of our imams or whomever it is you attach
[20:29]to.
[20:30]For me it's Zanabisam.
[20:34]When I'm in Hajj, she's I feel her presence with me.
[20:36]I attach to Lady Zanabam.
[20:39]I imagine when I'm in Hajj, I imagine her.
[20:44]What would she be like in Hajj?
[20:47]How would she walk?
[20:50]Walk like Z.
[20:52]And we have the blessing that our imams they transcend gender.
[20:58]So im you feel his presence in Hajj.
[21:02]You hear his voice.
[21:05]You see him on the wall of the you understand things that
[21:08]you hear the stories about but they become real when you're in
[21:14]the Hajj.
[21:13]Things manifest.
[21:15]Things come to you.
[21:18]You have deep understanding of things but in Hajj attached to someone
[21:22]or something that makes you strong.
[21:25]Yes, people will be pushing you.
[21:29]People will be tight like this on you.
[21:32]You will feel squished.
[21:35]You will feel like you can't breathe.
[21:37]That's true.
[21:39]I'm not going to lie to you about those things.
[21:42]And you might say, why is God putting me through these things?
[21:48]It's because life is struggle.
[21:50]Life does compress us and life does help us exhale.
[21:56]And there's actually actually a beautiful feeling you get when you accomplish
[22:02]your toath and you have been squeezed.
[22:06]And as he told you, you want to be able to take
[22:11]every single step yourself.
[22:11]But I want you to keep that left shoulder aligned because you're
[22:15]like the angels on earth.
[22:19]And so don't be frustrated.
[22:20]Don't let anyone take you out of your character in character.
[22:25]And Hajj is very different than we are, you know, here in
[22:28]everyday life.
[22:30]But if you really want to make Hajj, you have to forget
[22:38]this dunya.
[22:36]You have to let it go.
[22:39]You have to make a decision when you get on that airplane
[22:44]that it's all behind you.
[22:46]When we pray and we do Allahbar and we go like this,
[22:51]what are we doing?
[22:52]What are we doing?
[22:53]And we're putting it all behind.
[22:55]That's why we do this, right?
[22:59]You're leaving it all behind you.
[23:00]When you get in that airplane, you are leaving it all behind
[23:03]you.
[23:03]God is in charge of your children.
[23:06]He gave them to you.
[23:09]God is in charge of your home.
[23:10]He gave it to you.
[23:11]God is in charge of your sustenance.
[23:15]He gave it to you.
[23:16]It's impossible for you to be God.
[23:18]It's impossible.
[23:19]And it's impossible for you to go to him home to his
[23:22]house and you be more hospitable than him.
[23:26]It's impossible.
[23:27]So all of the stresses and the worries that you have, I'm
[23:31]going to keep telling you practice now to let them go in
[23:36]tow.
[23:37]You're joining the spiritual orbit.
[23:38]You're joining the orbit on earth with the orbit in heaven.
[23:44]You're joining the universal declaration of the oneness of God.
[23:50]But more importantly, you are centering yourself in toi.
[23:57]Because the cabba is the core.
[24:02]And now you're doing this and you're creating Islam as your core.
[24:08]You're creating to within yourself in that spiritual orbit.
[24:11]It's not just you throw on your white clothes and the men
[24:16]throw on their towels and we go down and we do this
[24:18]seven rounds.
[24:20]It's not like that's far more than that.
[24:24]When you're in Tawah, you will forget many of these things because
[24:29]you're struggling to get through the Tawa.
[24:30]And may Allah make it easy for you.
[24:33]But there will be moments where it's not easy.
[24:37]I believe that everyone should also have a magic key.
[24:41]I think that there's a word that everybody has.
[24:43]Find a word that works for you.
[24:47]Find a word that you love, an Islamic word that you love.
[24:50]And when things are tight and you feel like you're just exhausted
[24:56]or you can't do it or there's a lot of pushing or
[24:58]shoving, say the word.
[25:00]For example, if it's keep the word, find your word and use
[25:07]that word as kind of like your magic key.
[25:10]And I swear to you, I swear to you, things open up
[25:16]in front.
[25:17]You're hot.
[25:18]Ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala to send you in.
[25:22]Things happen and God is listening.
[25:23]If a GPS can track you anywhere you are and tell you
[25:28]which direction to go and you think God can't track you in
[25:31]the Hajj, you think he can't make things happen for you?
[25:36]Yes, he can.
[25:36]So, this is our Tawa.
[25:39]You already know about the black stone.
[25:41]You know that that's your starting point.
[25:43]Let's go a little bit deeper.
[25:45]The black stone is what?
[25:49]an angel and its color was white and it came to Adam.
[25:58]We always talk about Ibraim building the Cabba.
[26:02]But by many of our narrations, Adam, which makes sense because of
[26:06]Allah is going to put the first man on earth.
[26:09]Of course, he's going to put the first house of worship on
[26:11]earth.
[26:12]It was gifted to Adam from that makes sense.
[26:16]Milky white, pristine white.
[26:22]But this angel's sole job is to receive our sins.
[26:25]Hence, it's become black from our sins.
[26:29]It's an energy transference.
[26:32]Have you ever met somebody, they walk in the room and you
[26:35]feel like room lit up?
[26:37]You feel like they just have a positive energy and you feel
[26:43]good about them.
[26:42]You've experienced that.
[26:44]You meet somebody, you see somebody, you feel good.
[26:47]Have you had the opposite?
[26:49]Somebody walks in and you're like, you just there's something that angel
[26:57]is receiving all of that something and taking it out of you
[27:03]because step by step in Hajj, you're moving through purification.
[27:10]step by step.
[27:12]It's all designed for you to reach one station after another spiritual
[27:17]station after another spiritual station until you come home.
[27:21]So every corner of that cabba is significant.
[27:27]Now I know you talked about is and we have 70 prophets
[27:33]buried there and all of that.
[27:34]Now a lot of times they close it during Hajj but you
[27:37]might be able to get in.
[27:38]It's right beneath golden gutter.
[27:40]Some of us call it misi, the gutter of mercy.
[27:44]Some call it miz.
[27:45]There's something on that wall.
[27:49]I don't know what it is.
[27:50]It's some sort of magnetic spiritual force.
[27:52]It's not explainable in human words, but it's there.
[27:55]And anyone who's been on that wall knows what I'm talking about.
[27:59]People get to that wall and you cry from a place in
[28:04]your soul that you've never known before.
[28:06]There's something there.
[28:07]I've read so many a hadiths about that wall.
[28:10]Perhaps it has to do with the prophets that are buried there.
[28:17]Whatever it is, try your best, you know, when you're not in
[28:19]Tawah, but when you're just hanging out near the Cabba to get
[28:22]to the different walls.
[28:24]Sea would be an expert at getting to the walls of these
[28:29]Hajj when you're not in Tawa.
[28:29]Right?
[28:30]So, in to walk, you're always going to be left shoulder.
[28:32]You're going to walk and you're going to walk with control.
[28:35]To the sisters, I advise you to walk like this.
[28:38]Keep your hands inward so that you are protected and that you
[28:43]are safe.
[28:44]And I don't think I need to say anything more than that.
[28:46]For the most part, the brothers are able to help you, but
[28:51]you can't always depend on that.
[28:52]So, you will be together a lot.
[28:54]You will form bonds that you've never had before with people that
[28:56]last a lifetime.
[28:59]Mam Ibraim just the fact that his footsteps are there and that
[29:06]his footsteps are in this heavenly substance that lifted him and brought
[29:11]him down and lifted him and acted as a spiritual ladder for
[29:14]him to build a cabba fact that you're going to be there
[29:18]that you're going to be able to see it and that you're
[29:20]standing between the house of God and Ibraim take this in understand
[29:28]where you are understand whose footsteps you're walking in.
[29:32]The first time you do tawa, it may be very hard to
[29:38]concentrate.
[29:39]That's okay.
[29:38]Give yourselves a break.
[29:41]You might be like, I'm doing it wrong.
[29:43]There is no right or wrong.
[29:44]The first time you're going to just try to get through it.
[29:50]You may not be able to read sudas.
[29:51]You might just be able to just talk to God from your
[29:53]heart.
[29:53]That's the best that you can do.
[29:55]That's fantastic.
[29:56]I want to tell you be easy on yourselves.
[30:00]You might have this image.
[30:01]I'm going to go into and I'm going to read all of
[30:05]Well, you may not.
[30:06]You may not be able to focus on anything except keeping your
[30:10]shoulder your left shoulder to the cabba and getting through the seven
[30:14]rounds without losing your woodoo.
[30:16]So, there is the physical aspect of the tuah.
[30:21]There is the spiritual aspect of the but when you're not doing
[30:23]a mandatory tawah when you're not anam and we're going to talk
[30:29]about that you'll have time to go down and do tuah again
[30:31]hopefully they let you and I know the new rules there now
[30:35]let's talk about your sai I want to talk about Mecca for
[30:41]a minute the difference between Mecca and Medina is really amazing before
[30:45]we talk about sai mecca is very harsh It's very harsh land.
[30:54]It's very was and still is mountainous.
[30:57]It's very It's a valley.
[30:59]No matter how many five to sevenstar hotels they build around the
[31:04]Cabba almost obnoxiously that over tower the Cabba.
[31:09]Still, no matter how and what they do, the Cabba has its
[31:15]own.
[31:16]It has its own kurama.
[31:20]It has its own dignity.
[31:21]No sevenstar hotel can take it away from it.
[31:27]It is majestic onto itself.
[31:30]Medina is very lush.
[31:33]Medina is an oasis city.
[31:34]But Mecca is very harsh.
[31:35]I would say even the people of Mecca are much harsher than
[31:39]the people of Medina.
[31:40]You know, we are from the people of the lands that we
[31:44]come from.
[31:45]Let's talk about you're finishing your tawah.
[31:47]You've made your seven rounds.
[31:49]You understand that you're in the spiritual orbit.
[31:52]You are in your which we're going to talk about in detail.
[31:56]And now you're going over to zamzam.
[31:59]You're going to take some water.
[32:01]You're going to drink from this incredible well that sprung up from
[32:07]the earth to quench the thirst of a baby to have birds
[32:12]fly to bring tribes to.
[32:13]Hence, Mecca becomes this incredible city of trade and of commerce and
[32:22]of prosperity because of the story of a woman and her baby.
[32:26]I love the story of Hajet.
[32:30]I love it because it's such a story of sacrifice.
[32:31]And your Hajj is a story of sacrifice.
[32:35]Everybody that goes to Hajj takes a lot with them.
[32:39]And I don't mean your suitcases.
[32:42]Your suitcases might weigh 50 pounds each, but many of us go
[32:45]to Hajj with deep, heavy hearts.
[32:49]loss, suffering, war, poverty, abuse, so many things that people have carry
[33:01]with them.
[33:02]Not everyone comes into their Islam and grows up to be a
[33:05]pristine Muslim.
[33:07]Hence, because God knows that we're not going to be pristine.
[33:12]He makes sure that that angel that you're saying salam to every
[33:15]time you go around the I heard you talk about that, say,
[33:20]you're saying to that angel and that angel is receiving all of
[33:24]those sins.
[33:23]I mean, it's an amazing system if you really think about it.
[33:28]So, after you drink this water and you refresh yourself and you
[33:35]head over to the mountains of Safa and Ma between which Haj
[33:38]ran back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, the word
[33:45]is sai and the word means you're you're walking between despair and
[33:50]hope.
[33:49]Because that's what she did.
[33:53]She ran from despair to hope, seeing a mirage of water, back
[33:56]to despair, back to hope, seeing a mirage here, back and forth.
[34:00]That's the story of our lives.
[34:05]We all run between despair and hope sometimes on a daily basis.
[34:10]We're between two things, two energy fields.
[34:13]This is Safan Mara.
[34:15]And then finally, as this woman is left alone, really with God,
[34:22]and with the faith and a deepness that Ibraim had to leave
[34:29]her there with God, up springs this incredible geyser of water, this
[34:36]holy water, wash your face with it, drink it, enjoy it.
[34:40]It's so delicious.
[34:42]But I want you to think about your own zam zam.
[34:45]And this is sometimes where I think we miss the spirituality of
[34:50]Hajj, which is why I love to teach this class because we
[34:52]really have to go through the because you have to make sure
[34:55]you get it right.
[34:55]And that's the job of the scholars, but we can't miss the
[35:01]deep spiritual piece of this.
[35:02]Everybody has a zum in your soul.
[35:05]Safa and I would say to you, ask Allah when you're walking
[35:10]back and forth, what is your zam?
[35:13]What is your purpose?
[35:15]What are you doing with your life?
[35:17]What should you be doing with your life?
[35:21]What kind of obedience will you be in to your Lord?
[35:27]What what lessons have you learned in your own life going back
[35:34]and forth between your own despair and hope?
[35:35]Ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala to be your constant compass to constantly
[35:42]be your guide.
[35:42]Pray for your families.
[35:45]Pray for your um pray for people who are ill.
[35:50]Pray as much as you can.
[35:50]And pray for yourself.
[35:52]Pray for your own salvation.
[35:54]But ultimately for the people who are there, you're in a good
[36:01]place.
[35:58]You're in a healthy place because you're already on the journey.
[36:04]We're just shedding the layers of materialism when we're there.
[36:09]There's a beautiful saying I recently learned.
[36:14]The more you are, the less you need.
[36:16]That's so powerful.
[36:19]The more you are, the less you need.
[36:24]That's very true.
[36:23]And that's what it's like in because you become so much more
[36:28]innam.
[36:31]There's really nothing that you need except for a squirt bottle which
[36:36]I'll tell you about.
[36:40]So this is this is and let's talk about you know your
[36:47]Hajj begins when you go to you're probably going the night before.
[36:51]Alhamdulillah.
[36:51]That way you don't have to wor stress that you're not going
[36:54]to get there before noon.
[36:58]When I went to my first Hajj, um because I came from
[37:00]two schools of thought, I thought was this big mountain and I
[37:06]thought I had to go out onto the mountain and I had
[37:08]to go find this hill where the prophet gave his last sermon
[37:11]and that's where I was supposed to be.
[37:13]Long story short, that wasn't smart.
[37:16]Adafa is a plane.
[37:19]But what does mean when you go there?
[37:23]Adafa comes from the word to come to know in English.
[37:26]means to come to know.
[37:28]I come to know you, right?
[37:31]Mafa to come to know.
[37:35]But what's the story?
[37:35]Did you talk about the story of Adam and Eve and you
[37:41]remember?
[37:42]Okay.
[37:43]Go ahead.
[37:45]You say Okay.
[37:44]So, I don't want to bore them.
[37:46]So, the story of is so beautiful.
[37:51]Wow.
[37:50]And it makes sense that it's the beginning of your Hajj.
[37:55]So, When Allah subhana wa ta'ala placed Adam on earth, our hadith
[38:01]say that he placed Eve like somewhere in the Sri Lanka area.
[38:05]That's like almost 3,000 whatever miles or whatever away from each other.
[38:09]Remember they were soulmates in heaven and so they missed each other
[38:18]and when Allah joined them together on earth joined them where in
[38:24]And they came to know one another.
[38:28]But here's the deeper meaning.
[38:30]Me meaning what do you think is for you?
[38:34]To come to know yourself to come to know Allah subhanahu wa
[38:40]ta'ala and to see Allah in all of his splendid glory.
[38:43]This is where I can't help but cry.
[38:47]On the day of you'll already be in your you will be
[38:52]intense.
[38:53]It might be hot.
[38:56]You might get irritable.
[38:57]The tent's air conditioning hopefully works.
[39:00]It may, it may not.
[39:02]It's a test of patience.
[39:05]It's your ability to quiet yourself.
[39:10]Try to put yourself in a place of steadfast worship.
[39:16]Even your sleep and is worship.
[39:19]If you sleep, it's fine.
[39:23]Being in harafat is worship until sun sets.
[39:27]What I can't figure out is why hales leave instead of stay.
[39:33]Except for there's a busing system that sometimes forces the harmonies to
[39:37]have to leave as the sun is setting especially for the women.
[39:41]But when the sun sets, as you well know, this is the
[39:47]moment that you should be outside and you should be watching the
[39:50]sunset because the sun itself is a sign of God.
[39:55]It's one of God's ayat.
[39:58]And as that sun is setting and the angels are descending, Allah
[40:02]subhana wa ta'ala descends to the greatest archangel of all to greet
[40:12]you and to say to you, every single one of you, Allah
[40:20]sends his sons and he says to you that you are rebirthed,
[40:24]you are reborn, clean and free of all sin.
[40:30]This is your moment.
[40:33]This is your renewal.
[40:36]This is your covenant.
[40:38]This is This is the return to the primordial soul.
[40:45]This is a moment of trouble.
[40:51]This is a moment of calm.
[40:52]It's a moment that um and I don't want to sound um
[40:57]shameful in any way, but the only word that comes to my
[40:59]mind, this is a moment that unzippers you and your soul is
[41:06]just at peace.
[41:07]If you take the time to be still, if you take the
[41:16]time to take this in from the first station is you're going
[41:21]to move to Malifa.
[41:23]The word malifa, it comes from the root word.
[41:28]It's a narrow type place.
[41:32]It's a it's not, but it's it is.
[41:35]And I heard you speak about Malifa.
[41:37]I personally, everybody knows this about me.
[41:39]I'm a big fan of Malifa.
[41:40]I'm probably the only person who's a big fan of Mustalifa.
[41:43]to me is the ultimate part of Hajj because you know the
[41:50]sky is your the sky is your roof and the earth is
[41:53]your bed.
[41:54]There's no other way to describe it.
[41:56]You'll have a sleeping bag.
[41:57]A lot of people fall asleep.
[42:02]It's fine.
[42:00]I stay up.
[42:02]Look at the stars.
[42:06]Smile.
[42:04]You're as pure as pure can be.
[42:08]You're at peace and you're gathering your strength.
[42:11]But malifa, what's so beautiful is how Allah orders all of the
[42:15]creatures of the desert to become homeless so that you can have
[42:18]a home.
[42:19]This is the he gives you even though you're sitting on the
[42:22]earth.
[42:23]Now the sisters may not be able to go to malifa.
[42:26]They may only be able to go to malifa for a short
[42:29]time.
[42:30]I'm sorry about all of the laws and rules that these hamlies,
[42:33]you know, put upon us.
[42:35]But no matter what in Malifa, you know, you'll be there at
[42:40]least for a little bit.
[42:41]Every time you move to a station, pray, think, renew, revow, recommmit,
[42:50]and also be still.
[42:51]Take in take in the messages that God's giving you.
[42:58]Seek clarity.
[42:57]If you journal, journal.
[43:00]If you use a phone to journal, do that.
[43:05]Don't let these moments go by.
[43:07]Inifa, especially for the men, you can pick your pebbles.
[43:10]I once heard say Hassan tell us a hadith that when you
[43:15]go to pick your pebbles that it's almost as though you know
[43:18]there's a relationship between you and that it's almost ordained somehow for
[43:23]you to choose.
[43:25]I brought you some examples that I'm going to go through with
[43:29]you about pouches and just a few little things that you should
[43:33]do um things that will help you through your Hajj little ideas.
[43:37]But in Mgalifa, it is the place that you pick those pebbles.
[43:40]Your family might pick them for you.
[43:42]They might get them from Mecca.
[43:43]They may get them from Malifa.
[43:46]You don't really know 100% for sure.
[43:48]I'm sure you don't know yet until you get there.
[43:51]But all of this is under say Allah's guidance.
[43:52]He's going to make sure you have exactly what you need.
[43:56]You're not going to go to the shaitan without enough stones.
[43:59]And while I'm on that, you cannot take anything home with you
[44:04]that belongs in Hajj except for what you pay for.
[44:07]You're not allowed to take those stones home.
[44:10]Not even the dust that's in your pocket.
[44:14]You empty all that out.
[44:14]You own nothing.
[44:16]This is all sacred land.
[44:17]So don't make that mistake.
[44:18]I remember one time somebody came home with a pouch of pebbles.
[44:22]After Malifa, you're going to go to Mina.
[44:27]Why?
[44:28]Who knows what happens in Mina?
[44:31]The word Mina in English means the place from which something flows.
[44:37]So is where your sacrifice happens.
[44:42]It's the reenactment Ibraim.
[44:44]It's the reenactment of him and his son.
[44:48]Hajj is all about the story of Ibraim and his family.
[44:52]It's where the shanan tempted him and where he pelted the shaitan.
[44:57]And that's what you're going to do.
[45:00]You might wonder why are you think about this why are you
[45:02]pelting the shaitan when you're already pure and clean?
[45:06]You were just standing on why would you do it now?
[45:10]Why does God have it in that order?
[45:11]Think about that.
[45:12]And the reason for that is because if you help the shaitan
[45:18]and you're not so pure and clean, the shaitan can still influence
[45:21]you.
[45:22]But when Allah has just forgiven you and you have a clean
[45:27]slate, it's like you have spiritual muscle that you never had before.
[45:30]And so when you're throwing those stones, you're throwing and you're pelting.
[45:34]But what you're saying is you can't touch me anymore.
[45:37]Your days are over.
[45:39]I no longer belong to you.
[45:45]I disavow myself from you.
[45:46]I belong to my Lord and he is your protector.
[45:52]And you kind of build this energy and protection like a vaccination.
[45:59]You inoculate yourself with a power that you didn't have before.
[46:03]So it's like new tools that you get, a new armor to
[46:08]protect you.
[46:10]Do you have to protect yourself when you come home?
[46:13]Yes, of course you do.
[46:16]At the same time, that's what you're doing there.
[46:20]And then the happens and then the rest of the rules of
[46:26]and then your to and your s your last all to say
[46:34]some of the things I think are just vitally vitally important is
[46:39]your frame of mind and your frame of reference.
[46:43]If your frame of reference is your Lord and your north star
[46:52]is God, then everything in that orbit as the sun sets Dalifa
[46:59]in Mina, all of these acts of worship can come together and
[47:02]you can return home.
[47:06]I don't want to say different because we're still who we are.
[47:12]I would say reformed isn't the right word either.
[47:22]Committed isn't the right word either.
[47:25]Maybe there isn't a word for it.
[47:28]Maybe it just is what it is.
[47:32]And that's okay to not have words for it because it's so
[47:37]deep that sometimes it's hard to find words for it.
[47:40]It's hard to come home and to be with your loved ones
[47:44]who don't know what you've experienced because they've never been there.
[47:46]It's hard for them to understand what you just went through.
[47:50]And that's why having your group with you is really powerful because
[47:55]your group understands what you have gone through.
[47:59]And then the idea that you should ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala
[48:05]to revisit his house as often as you can whether in Omar
[48:09]or Hajj again.
[48:09]Medina is beautiful.
[48:12]Medina is a vacation.
[48:13]Medina is such a good feeling.
[48:16]And it's so beautiful that you're going to Medina first.
[48:21]Medina is remember Medina is the state ofam.
[48:26]It's where he established the first Islamic government, but it's where all
[48:30]of the Islamic principles come together in one place.
[48:34]Pluralism, prosperity, peace, diplomacy, intercultural, deep faith, the laws of our humanity,
[48:51]how we govern ourselves, all this happens in Medina.
[48:56]And so when you visit the rasool and the sky in Medina
[49:01]is just very special.
[49:01]It's like it's purple when the sun is so beautiful.
[49:05]You will get into the roda inshallah.
[49:07]You will have your time there.
[49:09]Hajo will be with the sisters.
[49:11]So you know you have people who've been there before who will
[49:16]guide you, who will help you.
[49:17]I know Mimi, you've gone before.
[49:18]So there are people who will be there.
[49:21]When you get into the Raa, you are going to stop, drop,
[49:26]and pray because that is heaven on earth.
[49:27]And you know you feel the presence of Fatima Zah.
[49:30]You feel the presence of your imams.
[49:33]You're visiting them.
[49:35]It's like you've gone to Mecca to the house of God.
[49:37]But in Medina, you're in the house of that's where he lived.
[49:44]Like there right there in the mosque, that area.
[49:46]That's his house.
[49:48]Of course, it wasn't so big like that.
[49:52]And you will visit the different places in Medina.
[49:56]But I want you to think about a feeling.
[49:59]I want you to focus on.
[50:01]You might feel it, you may not.
[50:03]I don't know.
[50:04]But it seems to me it's hard to leave Medina.
[50:08]It's hard for me to leave Medina.
[50:09]I'm not going to say it's hard for everybody.
[50:12]It's very hard for me to leave Medina because there's a protection
[50:15]you feel there from.
[50:17]You feel like this fatherly presence that's just protecting you.
[50:23]And of course, when you say, he is responding to you.
[50:30]He's saying amlaykum so and so and so and so.
[50:31]He's speaking to you from his grave.
[50:34]The same thing with your imams that you're going to visit.
[50:37]It's such like a family reunion in Medina.
[50:41]A spiritual family reunion.
[50:42]But I want to say this, you can also feel when your
[50:48]time is up in Medina.
[50:49]You feel it.
[50:51]You can feel your prophet saying, "Go.
[50:54]You visited me as I asked you to visit me.
[50:57]Now go.
[50:59]Go to the house of God.
[51:01]You feel something going like it's okay.
[51:06]Go.
[51:07]I love you.
[51:06]Go.
[51:07]It's really a profound feeling.
[51:09]Pay attention to it.
[51:12]Try to try to be as present as you can through your
[51:14]Hajj.
[51:15]But also have fun.
[51:18]Haj is fun.
[51:20]By the way, we're not talking about the fun elements of Hajj.
[51:22]The bonds you make with your group.
[51:24]Unbelievable.
[51:25]Yeah.
[51:26]going to struggle with the rooms and the bathrooms and the lines
[51:29]and you're going to be exhausted.
[51:30]All this other kind of stuff, but there's an exhilaration that comes
[51:38]along with it, too.
[51:37]Enjoy every piece of it.
[51:39]Take it all in and try your best when you come across
[51:44]a thought to write it down.
[51:46]This is the spirituality of Hajj.
[51:48]I didn't cover everything because we're short on time.
[51:52]But what I do want to do is for the for the
[51:56]men, the brothers, my husband has made 100 times, mashallah, literally because
[52:00]he used to work there.
[52:01]So I always keep his aams I give them away and things
[52:05]like that.
[52:06]But I wanted the brothers who've never been to Hajj to at
[52:09]least come up and feel it.
[52:11]This isn't a bad one.
[52:11]And you have say he'll he'll tell you what's a good one.
[52:15]It's not a bad one.
[52:15]But you want to make sure that you have What am I
[52:18]doing here?
[52:19]I'm holding this like it's a microphone because I'm used to holding
[52:22]a microphone.
[52:21]You want to make sure that you have one that's really good
[52:25]and that you know covers you well.
[52:27]This is about a good size for a bag for a pouch.
[52:28]Usually they'll give you one, but I always take one home as
[52:33]well from home with me.
[52:34]Just buy one.
[52:35]It can even just be a baggie.
[52:36]Doesn't have to be anything significant because you're going to end up
[52:39]throwing it away anyway.
[52:43]Did you really?
[52:46]God bless you.
[52:47]This is your best friend.
[52:50]Sorry saying it to be so um blunt.
[52:53]The bathrooms are far away when you're in towah.
[52:58]And if you lose your woo in tow and you have to
[53:03]leave, it's not like everybody's leaving with you.
[53:04]So I recommend everybody keeps a little bottle, squirt bottle.
[53:11]This is phenomenal.
[53:11]All you do you lose your wood and depends on what cycle
[53:17]you know say it's go over there whether it's first second third
[53:20]seventh they have different rules you simply go out of the towah
[53:23]you find yourself a little tiny corner for the sisters you just
[53:31]throw your clothes above you hide put a little bit of water
[53:35]in your hand you know say talked about remember first second allowable
[53:42]third strike you're out.
[53:43]No.
[53:44]Three times water.
[53:46]First base, second base, third base out.
[53:48]You can't put use water three times.
[53:50]That's why you don't need that much.
[53:51]You can do your whole woo with a little bit of water.
[53:56]It's no joke.
[53:58]Take unscented Kleenex.
[53:58]You're done.
[54:01]You're just going to doom doom.
[54:03]Done.
[54:04]Done.
[54:04]Go back into your tawa.
[54:05]Men and women.
[54:07]You don't really need to go to the bathroom if you've lost
[54:10]your woodoo simply because you lost wind, which isn't unusual if your
[54:15]body is being pushed and pressed.
[54:16]Subhan Allah.
[54:18]Some kind of miracle from God.
[54:19]Most people don't lose their woo.
[54:20]You don't even know how that happens.
[54:22]But for the most part, people don't.
[54:23]But if you do, there's a solution.
[54:25]There's a solution for everything in Hajj.
[54:29]It's an incredible system.
[54:29]What do you think about this?
[54:32]You think this is about the right size?
[54:33]Yes.
[54:34]Okay.
[54:34]on the tip of the finger.
[54:35]Mhm.
[54:36]So, I want to pass this around because, you know, many people
[54:40]grab like boulders.
[54:40]No, I'll leave it up here, too.
[54:42]This is about the right size that you're going to be looking
[54:46]for for the men.
[54:48]This is one of my favorite pairs of slippers.
[54:52]I don't know.
[54:52]I think we'll see what you think.
[54:53]But this one, you don't have to cut so much back.
[54:57]Oh, okay.
[54:58]Because when you put them on the front of the foot, it
[55:00]depends on the size of the foot, but at least when you're
[55:04]cutting this one back, you can cut against the line.
[55:07]Yes.
[55:07]So, they're different than the ones they used to have.
[55:10]These these are really good.
[55:10]So, just easy to manage, right?
[55:13]Everyone, make sure you have your own pair of scissors.
[55:16]Even if you know, just have your own pair of scissors because
[55:18]you don't know if you're going to lose your ham or not.
[55:22]You just never know what can happen in Hajj.
[55:24]So, keep your own pair of scissors.
[55:26]Do not cut someone's hair before you cut your own.
[55:27]The minute you pull out your scissors, it's going to be a
[55:33]lineup.
[55:32]Remember, you have to cut your hair first.
[55:35]Aan has been called.
[55:38]May Allah subhana wa ta'ala bless you, protect you.
[55:41]I'm so happy for you.
[55:43]Congratulations.
[55:44]They asked to see Oh, sure.
[55:54]Okay.
[55:58]Sure.
[56:01]Sure.
[56:05]Well, because you have to do Mina is where the Shayan you
[56:09]have to do your ra in Mina.
[56:11]So you're going the first time and then you have to do
[56:15]a second time of and then you have to do a third
[56:19]time of what's the significance of it thean it's it's it's just
[56:22]the repelting of the shaitan it's the reenactment of the am I
[56:25]answering your question I think so yeah other questions thoughts okay let's
[56:38]quickly run through the slides just real real Oh, do I have
[56:43]two, three minutes to talk about?
[56:43]Oh, the most important part of all.
[56:46]I love talking about I'm going to say this once.
[56:49]I'm going to say this twice.
[56:50]You who are on YouTube, you can hear me.
[56:53]This is not mandatory.
[56:56]Say my witness.
[56:56]This is not mandatory.
[57:00]This is me.
[56:59]But I like to share it with you because everything begins with
[57:03]intention.
[57:05]When you do your, you're going to do your head, your right
[57:09]side, your left side.
[57:10]I heard you talk about it.
[57:11]What if you took the time, even though there's a lot of
[57:16]people who want to get in the shower, and you intentionally did
[57:20]a like no other like this.
[57:25]I'm serious.
[57:26]Wash your hair.
[57:29]This is for the sisters.
[57:29]this piece wash do your then after that step back in make
[57:37]this bold intention this I have to cry through I can't help
[57:40]it wash your hair and ask Allah subhanana wa ta'ala like rinse
[57:44]your hair is what I mean ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala to
[57:48]forgive your hair for the times you did not wear hijab if
[57:50]you did not wear hijab and to replace you with modesty inside
[57:56]and outside you men wash your head and ask Allah subhana wa
[58:04]ta'ala to do the same to give you modesty in your behavior
[58:06]go to your forehead in your face ask peace by piece ask
[58:12]Allah subhana wa ta'ala to forgive the times you did not pray
[58:15]and to ask Allah to make your head the place of sjud
[58:19]on earth where the earth will testify for you in your sjud
[58:22]go to your eyes ask Allah subhana w t'ala to forgive your
[58:25]eyes for the things that We see that we should not see
[58:29]but we see and ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala to replace your
[58:35]sight with insight wisdom.
[58:38]Go to your nose.
[58:41]We all smell things we should not smell.
[58:43]You go into the grocery store, you can't help but smell alcohol.
[58:45]You go outside, you smell weed.
[58:47]You can't help what you smell.
[58:48]Rinse your nose and ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala to give you
[58:54]the smell of paradise.
[58:53]Your ears.
[58:55]Whoa.
[58:56]The ears.
[58:56]and what we hear.
[58:58]Allahbar wash your ears and ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala to replace
[59:04]your hearing with that which is good and forgive your ears for
[59:07]the gossip and the slander that we've listened to.
[59:11]We all do your tongue, the worst enemy of all.
[59:13]Rinse your mouth and ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala to forgive you
[59:18]for the things you've said that you should not have said and
[59:21]to replace your speech with the speech that glorifies his name in
[59:27]go to your shoulders.
[59:28]We're told that we will carry the heaviness on the yoke of
[59:33]our necks and ask Allah to alleviate it.
[59:36]Go to your right side, your right arm, your right hand.
[59:38]Ask Allah to forgive your hand for the things that touched and
[59:43]the things it did that it should not have.
[59:43]Ask Allah to make your hands of the the people who do
[59:50]good deeds that your comes in your right hand on the day
[59:53]of judgment.
[59:54]Go to your the rest of your body, every part of your
[59:58]body, your legs where they walked you to that you shouldn't have
[60:01]walked to and ask Allah to make your steps.
[60:06]everything.
[60:07]Ask Allah to make you his servant.
[60:10]And most of all, ask Allah what he wants of you, not
[60:14]what you always want of him.
[60:15]What does he want from you?
[60:20]And in that there is a spiritual surrender that if you can
[60:23]get yourself in that place of mind and you ask Allah to
[60:26]make you what he wants you to be, you have just absolved
[60:29]yourself from a lot of things in your future and be in
[60:35]it.
[60:36]Be in it.
[60:36]It's spiritual surrender and it is very very very powerful.
[60:42]So do that with your body.
[60:43]Again, not mandatory.
[60:46]Everything has a ny when you put your on.
[60:49]Just remember why you're putting it on.
[60:51]Remember that you're equalizing with humanity.
[60:54]Remember who you are.
[60:58]Remember what you're doing.
[60:58]Remember that this is this is the the shutting of ego.
[61:04]Haram is the shedding of all material things.
[61:06]And inshallah you will go and come safely.
[61:09]And we ask you for your and I'm available.
