[26:52][Music] muham muham all praise belongs to Allah subhana I began in

[27:08]his blessed name and I thank him for giving us this life

[27:13]and putting us on this Earth which is very short term and

[27:17]this Earth is filled with trials and tribulations and it's very slippery

[27:22]and very difficult to remain upright because the distractions that Allah has

[27:30]allowed through limited free will become a hindrance for you and I

[27:37]to have a peaceful coexistence nonetheless Allah is merciful in that he

[27:43]has endowed us with the capacity to reject evil and to promote

[27:46]good and by the same token he's given us the capacity to

[27:51]do to do the opposite which is to promote evil and reject

[27:54]the good and in that Consequence the world becomes an interesting place

[28:02]to live in and as a result Allah subhana tala to ensure

[28:06]that the human ra race is endowed with sufficient help from Allah

[28:14]when Allah says in yourself has a natural tendency to deviate except

[28:24]by the mercy of God and what Mercy is is that well

[28:31]the first Mercy is the Rahman that he has endowed us with

[28:33]existence when we were nothing we were not worthy of being mentioned

[28:37]and then within this existence Allah has endowed us with many capacities

[28:52]that we have given you existence a hearing sight a heart how

[29:00]little you are grateful and then of course moving forward we have

[29:04]an inner Prophet within us he has made ourselves perfect complete and

[29:15]taught us wrong and right that's the inner prophet in us and

[29:23]then Allah has endowed us with leadership when Allah decreed to the

[29:31]angels that I'm placing on Earth my representative that's the outer Prophet

[29:37]the outer guidance and then Allah subhana ta'ala ensured that mankind was

[29:42]always guided Allah says all communities are guided at all times because

[29:51]in Arabic is indefinite meaning there's a constancy of leadership and guidance

[29:57]on Earth and that's a mercy of Allah then when we talk

[30:03]about Rahman that's General Mercy that everybody receives including this Believers but

[30:07]Rahim is special Mercy only for the Believers which takes us into

[30:15]another category of trials and tribulations upon which we need to achieve

[30:20]if we are to achieve the highest standards on the day of

[30:24]judgment and that of course is the understanding of w the leadership

[30:32]the Guardianship and we'll talk about that in these other nights and

[30:39]Allah subh tala of his General Mercy which is also specific Mercy

[30:42]is the Quran the month in which Allah revealed the Quran a

[30:56]guidance for mankind Allah it's a for mankind and it's a witness

[31:04]it's a proof B so that's another gift of God and of

[31:13]course the gifts continue this is just scratching the surface but nonetheless

[31:19]once we take account we begin to realize how merciful Allah subh

[31:23]T is and Allah ensures us that through our transactions and actions

[31:30]on our daily lives for Allah has created night and day and

[31:34]that he has made us by decree to rest we can't function

[31:41]24 hours a day the way the ginat live we humans have

[31:48]to rest and Allah is merciful in that rest he enables us

[31:52]to go to sleep temporary death interesting and that Allah subhana tala

[31:59]has endowed Upon Us desires the different types of desires so it's

[32:14]the engine upon which mankind needs to move towards because that's what

[32:23]drives us as a human race it's a mercy of Allah and

[32:25]within this drive we have desires and in that world of Shah

[32:33]we have desires to indulge we're an indulgent community and there's nothing

[32:39]wrong with Indulgence for Allah has created us to indulge but Allah

[32:46]says limited eat drink don't overdo it he doesn't like it when

[32:58]you overdo it it's not good good for you logic science rationality

[33:02]dictates that any overindulgence is harmful and therefore Allah subh tala in

[33:10]his infinite Mercy to connect our transactional systems in life which is

[33:15]actually a a subsidiary or the foundation of what we were created

[33:23]for which is to attain High spiritual existence so our transactions of

[33:28]eating sleeping trans acting cohabiting marrying loving you know divorcing etc etc

[33:35]are all designed for us to engage in some level of spiritual

[33:40]journey so it's just not a material exercise but rather it is

[33:45]for Spiritual Journeys and therefore it's extremely important for us to understand

[33:54]that when Allah introduces to us injunctions Shar when Allah says you

[34:02]know maintain prayers Allah you know talks about all the prescriptions that

[34:08]he has planted upon us these are all designed to take us

[34:14]to higher spirituality through transactions mamam I always find these baskets to

[34:27]be interesting especially during a lecture mam my a glass to I

[34:42]don't like drinking from a bottle please thank you thank you you

[34:52]will notice that all the injunctions that Allah has placed upon us

[34:57]prayer fasting all the fu Salah fasting hjj s you know zakat

[35:06]the whole nine yards they're all designed to interact with our capacities

[35:11]in our social day-to-day transactions as a means to elevate our spirituality

[35:16]proximity to God so we may ask the universal question why did

[35:26]Allah create me why do I exist and Allah says [Music] thank

[35:37][Music] you Allah subh is saying you were not worthy of being

[35:52]mentioned but I created you from a clot you know and then

[35:58]to test you and therefore I gave you hearing ins sight oh

[36:06]Allah why most Muslims will answer that Allah created me to test

[36:12]me I quite sure most of you in this audience will agree

[36:17]but that's not the real reason why Allah created us muham Allah

[36:26]did not create us to test us it's absurd if you really

[36:31]think about it I mean it's almost like Allah had nothing better

[36:35]to do not true Allah created us purely out of his Mercy

[36:43]period but the transaction of his Mercy demands that you and I

[36:52]be tested by the law of Mercy you and I must be

[36:54]tested so the function of why we exist is the rahma the

[37:00]mercy of Allah and within the process of his Mercy having given

[37:04]us limited Free Will which is extra Mercy meaning autonomy to choose

[37:09]my own destiny it is extra Mercy Allah wants me to participate

[37:18]in that transaction but what is the modus what is the main

[37:22]objective of such a test it is nothing but to recognize Allah

[37:27]and his mercy and to submit to it maintain your faces upright

[37:47]and submit to the F what is the promotion of good forbiddance

[37:56]of evil and submission to Allah Allah says you are the best

[38:06]in the community you promote good you forbid evil and you believe

[38:10]in God now of course the fundamental question comes what is good

[38:15]and what is evil and how do I submit to God that's

[38:20]the fundamental question we have these months of Ramadan to discuss those

[38:25]matters why do we need to promote good and what is good

[38:33]people have been given the power to translate and Define good in

[38:39]various ways evil people will make evil good and they will make

[38:50]good evil so how do we know and the world is filled

[38:52]with opinions thousands of religions just within the denomination of Christianity there

[38:59]are over 5,000 denominations 5,000 think about it within Christianity and Jesus

[39:07]being the central authority of the Christian faith there are 5,000 different

[39:13]minimum interpretations of Christianity Buddhism the same thing Hinduism so many within

[39:22]Islam we have five major schools and even within each school there

[39:27]are so many dimensions of interpretations so we get confused what is

[39:31]it that I need to really follow what does God want from

[39:36]me since there are so many variations on Earth which one is

[39:39]correct well Allah has allowed this disparity and confusion to exist when

[39:44]Allah says Mischief has shown itself on Earth facade on Earth and

[39:56]on the Seas by the hands of man so it's by Nature

[40:02]that Allah has allowed it he has allowed it he doesn't promote

[40:04]it he has allowed it it's different because he has given us

[40:09]limited free will he has allowed it and therefore the world is

[40:15]cloudy and murky and when you take all of these comparisons there

[40:19]are essential Natures that you and I need to function under in

[40:22]order to save ourselves from this impending danger that we're all living

[40:26]under meaning it's highly CTIC environment that's filled with all kinds of

[40:33]dangers spiritual dangers you know the vi the viruses and the bacteria

[40:38]that infect us at the spiritual level so when Allah says we

[40:51]have all you who believe we have enjoined upon you fasting the

[40:56]way we enjoined on your predecessors so that you achieve God Consciousness

[41:01]it is for this purpose that I just discussed for there is

[41:05]no other purpose on this Earth for you and I to exist

[41:07]other than to acknowledge Allah and to submit to Allah for everything

[41:15]you and I earn on this Earth is going to vanish everything

[41:20]will perish so then why bother well we bother because it sets

[41:27]the standard for my soul and spiritual state to be acknowledged in

[41:34]the next World so the material Acquisitions and the losses that I

[41:40]will experience on this Earth are all by Design and you and

[41:43]I have to indulge in it we have to gain material we

[41:48]have to be indulgent we have to pursue Pleasures Allah says who

[41:58]made the good things for you Haram and Allah says this is

[42:05]exclusively for the Believers in the next World so why not but

[42:09]that's the reason why Allah has said I have enjoyed fasting upon

[42:14]you and if you look at the Mastery of this injunction of

[42:20]the month of Ramadan it's communal it's not individual meaning fasting is

[42:26]done at a communal level that means the amplification of two plus

[42:31]billion Muslims on Earth abstaining from the daily routines of indulging in

[42:39]the in the regular breakfast lunch dinner kind of thingy and indulging

[42:47]in spiritual Pursuits and reflecting more with the Quran due to hunger

[42:53]and thirst is by Design for in this murky world it's impossible

[43:02]to get out of it unless you and I spend time reflecting

[43:07]and meditating it's impossible Allah says indeed in the creation in the

[43:42]creation of the sky and the Earth and in the alternation in

[43:47]the alternation of the night and day are signs for people deeply

[43:51]rooted in knowledge what does Allah want from me to be an

[43:57]to become not to be in the state of Jah when do

[44:03]we become Jah when we indulge in mundane transactions that are not

[44:08]Progressive in life and that are spiritually dampening and Allah is merciful

[44:16]that Islam is the only religion that maintains its trajectory in its

[44:20]population of Muslims to be observant of prayers five times a day

[44:26]no religion in the world has it Jews have prayers Christians have

[44:29]prayers Hindus have prayers Buddhists have prayers the intensity of Prayer in

[44:36]the world of Islam is Bar None proof positive that if I

[44:45]were an alien I would still have Islam anyway but you get

[44:50]my point but I'd be on earth wondering the human factors I

[44:54]would be thinking that such a God who created this this world

[44:58]should Institute the following like for example Islam is the only religion

[45:04]that forbids categorically alcohol and gambling there is no religion out there

[45:10]that forbids it categorically there is some illusion to it within the

[45:16]Christian Bible but it's been ignored in fact the drinking of wine

[45:20]has been made part of the Eucharist which is actually a means

[45:25]to get closer to God is to drink wine the first miracle

[45:29]of Jesus in the Bible was to turn water into wine but

[45:33]Islam forbids it and it's Haram and logically for me to get

[45:41]out of this murky world I need to abstain from anything that

[45:43]inebriates my brain and destroys my brain cells so logically such a

[45:51]god should give me such injunctions whether I like it or not

[45:56]and it's interesting there are thousands of religion Islam is the only

[46:01]one that's conspicuously prevalent on Earth forbidding it which then irks the

[46:07]marketers who love to sell that because they want to pull wool

[46:15]over our eyes but Islam forbids it it's like hijab it's a

[46:19]very bad thing for marketers when a sister wears hijab can't sell

[46:24]a woman you know there was a time any product you want

[46:27]to sell just put a beautiful woman next to it doesn't matter

[46:30]cigarettes cars anything land house put a woman next to it but

[46:38]Islam says no wow what an injunction in the Quran with the

[46:54]only religion in the world that has maintained hijab Christian and Jews

[46:57]had hijab they abandoned it it's historical watch any historical movie in

[47:04]Christianity and Judaism you'll see their women all have hijabs they abandoned

[47:11]it why because Islam is a religion that promotes morality and uprightness

[47:17]Allah says this Quran guides you to that which is most upright

[47:32]therefore give good news to the Believers who do good that for

[47:38]them there is a great reward that awaits them that's this life

[47:42]so what a wonderful blessing of Allah and I say to all

[47:47]of us Ramadan Mubarak Ramadan Kim congratulations on this blessed month and

[47:54]the amplification of an umah being given a rule by which to

[48:02]abstain from eating verse 183 of Allah says which I recited the

[48:06]next verse 184 for a fixed number of days it's a command

[48:13]of God for Allah created me he knows my system he knows

[48:19]the worldly system what better than to amplify a community to become

[48:24]God conscious because if you look at Christianity it's a very individual

[48:28]religion and I'm not bashing Christianity by the way don't get me

[48:32]wrong it's good to know differences we live in a Christian world

[48:35]it's good to know and Islam is a communal religion while it's

[48:42]a personal religion and the communal obligations like hijab is a communal

[48:46]obligation hijab is not a personal obligation it's a communal obligation Jama

[48:54]is a communal obligation Juma is a communal obligation you will find

[49:04]even Hajj becomes a communal obligation for when millions of people are

[49:10]circumambulating the cabba it becomes an understanding of The Limited persons who

[49:15]are there and those observing of what is the function and purpose

[49:19]of life for many times our biggest problem living on this Earth

[49:26]is we forget the purpose in life we become so busy building

[49:31]Empires and building our giant palaces on Bridges and then when Mal

[49:37]moou shows up all hell lets loose because there's nothing you can

[49:41]do rer Murdoch has built a multi-billion Dollar Empire and he has

[49:47]Twisted the minds of many people and He Is Crafty he a

[49:54]big supporter of the Zionist movement today he's in his 90s and

[49:59]Allah is showing the Bala that comes he's got four children three

[50:05]of them are liberal and they want to control the Empire so

[50:11]look how it comes chickens come home to roost he's a conservative

[50:16]in his own ideals and he's terrified but forget that part you've

[50:21]got billions of dollars you're going to have to answer six feet

[50:25]down and many many times we forget the mission in life what

[50:30]is your mission if you're not promoting the ways of God watch

[50:34]out no matter how much money you make it will haunt you

[50:41]Sanam was extremely rich richer than all the rich people on Earth

[50:45]put together the Elon Musk the Bill Gates every rich person on

[50:49]Earth today combine them all together multiplied 10 times they're not as

[50:56]rich as suan alisam suan controlled the wind he controlled the Gins

[51:02]he had so much wealth Unthinkable he controlled the animals he spoke

[51:10]to animals that's how powerful he was but what did he do

[51:14]with his wealth he spent it for Allah so nothing wrong in

[51:23]gaining wealth nothing wrong in having palaces nothing wrong in having private

[51:29]jets but what is it for because time takes away four components

[51:45]that all have was in it mean they all have to be

[51:50]done continuously together holistically or else you fail because you're instead of

[51:55]loss now if if we don't remind each other through these gatherings

[52:03]through our social systems through cbas through schools education mentorship we forget

[52:10]the purpose we fall in love with someone and the that person

[52:13]becomes our world which is not wrong but sometimes then we lose

[52:20]the rest of the world because we're so in love with that

[52:22]there's nothing wrong to fall in love with someone but Allah says

[52:29]fall in love through my eyes when you love Humanity love them

[52:33]through my eyes when you love your children love them through my

[52:38]eyes you know the story of IM Ali andam where he has

[52:51]Z for year-old on his lap and he and his blessed daughter

[52:57]says to her father Imam is so happy caressing her and says

[53:00]Baba do you love me he said too much I love you

[53:07]a lot then she looks at him say say Baba do you

[53:11]love Allah and he says yes I love Allah then she looks

[53:14]at said how how can you love him and me at the

[53:19]same time brilliant question it's the nature of life for notice how

[53:24]she's nailing something profound that after reading it I looked I said

[53:29]wow a four-year-old with this level of wisdom is just blowing me

[53:53]buildings businesses Love It Through The Eyes of Allah then you won't

[54:04]right in Haram why because when you put it through the lens

[54:12]of Allah everything starts to work when atheists ask me that question

[54:23]I need to do the right things on this Earth and you

[54:27]and I as finite beings talk about infinite existence which is a

[54:32]contradiction for finite beings cannot have infinite existence so why are you

[54:37]talking like that it's only possible because of Allah you remove Allah

[54:43]you have no existence so when people ask me that question I

[54:46]said My Lens my moral lens needs a God and what is

[54:51]that moral lens about well not only that I should know what

[54:56]to do to promote good but then I'm liable for without a

[54:58]God I have no one overseeing me don't you know that God

[55:09]sees God sees what you do now take that God away morals

[55:17]what for why do I need it utilitarian reasons silly it actually

[55:25]defies everything take Allah out of the picture the entire system falls

[55:28]apart I swear to God it's so absurdly conspicuously staring at me

[55:35]that the whole notion of anybody proposing the idea of God's non-existence

[55:41]is basically saying I don't exist that's how absurd the argument is

[55:47]so in conclusion to this conversation tonight I'd like to impress upon

[55:55]us that when Allah says understand the function of why Allah has

[56:00]placed fasting Upon Us isn't it beautiful that we all gather together

[56:05]and break bread together and then we now finally experience empathy for

[56:13]the hungry and the poor and the destitute isn't it wonderful you'll

[56:18]find Muslims become most generous in Ramadan and it's one month in

[56:27]a year Allah says Allah is so merciful you can't then feed

[56:45]a poor person when you're sick you're traveling delay it look how

[56:53]merciful Allah is but on a communal level the amplification is incredible

[56:56]that billions of people are fasting it reverses the engines of our

[57:05]biological system our digestive system is reversed our mental system is reversed

[57:10]I mean experts in the world today all unanimously agree that intermittent

[57:13]fasting is extremely healthy for the human body it's a means by

[57:20]which to expiate one's mentality ones diseases etc etc imagine the mercy

[57:28]of Allah to implement that as a prescription that is highly punishable

[57:34]should you and I decide not to follow 60 fasts for each

[57:40]one you willfully break that's heavy you would wonder Allah so merciful

[57:47]why is he doing 60 you fast for 31 days take a

[57:49]break then you have to fast for 29 days wow that's a

[57:54]lot for each fast you break that's a heavy penalty but look

[57:59]how merciful Allah is says you can't then feed 60 people free

[58:03]a slave do it now why is that in Junction place to

[58:08]ensure that the human race the umah doesn't come up with excuses

[58:10]to say you know I'm not in the mood to fast so

[58:14]Allah is merciful while Salah has its own injunctions you will notice

[58:19]that fasting has been instituted at a communal level to ensure that

[58:22]the human race follows it because it brings about Harmony in so

[58:26]Society it brings empathy in society it brings generosity in society we

[58:33]become a caring sharing giving forgiving loving Society for that's the purpose

[58:40]of our existence isn't it beautiful honestly brothers and sisters I'm a

[58:46]globe Trotter I travel the world I meet people of all religions

[58:48]I watch them and I just can't thank Allah enough for what

[58:55]he's given me what he's given us the mercy is beyond expression

[58:59]you and I should never feel that Allah has burdened us Allah

[59:03]says which I've chosen you I didn't make religion difficult even in

[59:13]here you know Allah mentioned that verse 185 how beautiful it is

[59:52]the month of Ramadan is in that which the Quran was revealed

[59:55]a guidance to mankind kind and clear proofs of the guidance and

[60:00]the distinction therefore whoever of you is present in the month you

[60:04]shall fast therein and whoever is sick or upon a journey then

[60:07]he shall fast alike the number of days make it make it

[60:13]up after Ramadan Allah desires ease for you listen to this many

[60:16]of us oh I got to fast I can't eat oh my

[60:19]God you know I may die like you know if you abstain

[60:24]from water you know I need to really eat a lot you

[60:26]some people you know gain weight in Ramadan it's odd how do

[60:29]you gain weight in Ramadan go figure no no I need to

[60:36]survive I may run out of protein he does not desire for

[60:42]difficulty he desired that you should complete the number and you should

[60:47]exalt the greatness of Allah for having guided you and that you

[60:51]may give thanks I end on this let's be grateful let's indulge

[60:59]let's be reflective in this month don't just sit and read Quran

[61:03]while it is good to open the Quran the prophet sallallah he

[61:13]said just looking at the Quran is Tha just looking at it

[61:21]opening is more Tha reading is more theab reflecting is more Tha

[61:26]acting is the ultimate so some of us oh I'm going to

[61:30]read the whole Quran in Ramadan it's good but are you paying

[61:35]attention to what you're reading no I just need to finish the

[61:38]AL Quran 30 Jews I'm going to just fire through I what

[61:42]is the meaning of f name I don't know so what are

[61:49]you reading you read fat 10 times a day in your prayers

[61:53]you don't know the meaning I don't have time but you have

[61:56]time to learn the codes of you know crypto and uh stocks

[62:04]we have time yeah we do sit down and reflect that one

[62:10]verse of the Quran can have a profound change in your outlook

[62:14]in life just one verse this Quran what we revealed in this

[62:29]Quran is a gift is a shifa it is an alexir it

[63:41]of the Prophet think about it people think the Quran was revealed

[63:45]in rajab sometime no no no Quran was revealed on the night

[68:19]the more they indulging it the more they they are shocked to

[68:23]find how incredible the Quran is it violates all poetic systems on

[68:28]Earth there's about 15 different types of poetry maybe more I don't

[68:34]remember the exact number and the Quran violates all of them it

[68:37]doesn't follow a single one of its rules yet the Quran has

[68:42]its own Rhythm it's beyond poetry and it's so deep that every

[68:46]word every sentence exposes the true nature of this world isn't that

[68:50]amazing I can talk forever about it and yet I'm so ignorant

[68:57]ignorant and limited in my knowledge can you imagine if I had

[69:00]the knowledge if you took all the trees on Earth and made

[69:13]them into pens and you took all the Seas on Earth and

[69:17]made them into ink and you added seven more Seas you will

[69:22]not exhaust the mercy of Allah may Allah bless us and give

[69:33]us in this blessed month of Ramadan to reach higher stages before

[69:36]Allah takes us from this world and the function and purpose of

[69:40]this life is simply to recognize Allah know that Allah is so

[69:47]merciful you know how I know that one evidence I'll just point

[69:50]and I will end you'll find people die at different ages innocent

[69:55]people get killed Gaza for example little children mothers in all these

[70:01]battle zones innocent people are getting killed everywhere in this world sometimes

[70:06]a car accident destroys a whole family and you're scratching your head

[70:10]like God how can you allow this why did you do this

[70:14]why didn't you give this person at least 60 years of life

[70:18]you know before you take anybody you know they should be like

[70:21]a cross 60 then you can die but before 60 you can't

[70:23]die no no no no no self knows on which land they

[70:34]will die and death will catch you it will meet you why

[70:42]Allah why Allah's greatest answer I am merciful don't worry you die

[70:48]in your mother's womb or you die a thousand years later I

[70:53]created you for the next World I am merciful don't worry you

[70:58]didn't miss out on this Earth for what you were created for
