[0:14]foreign last week we were still speaking about the disobedience of iblis
[0:54]may allah curse him and how he refrained from prostrating for adam
[1:00]we mentioned uh how the beliefs performed according to imam assad and
[1:09]so we shed light on the concept of priyas what is kriyas
[1:13]and how it should not be used um when deriving islamic laws
[1:20]because according to us was used to derive islamic laws then it
[1:26]would terminate islam it would annihilate islam after the lesson if you
[1:35]remember we had a few questions that were posed and some of
[1:39]them pertain to the concept of the ass we saw clearly how
[1:43]chaos does not work with our islamic set of laws we stopped
[1:50]at a tradition by imam assad the prostration of the angels for
[2:02]adam we said ultimately allah is the only being in existence that
[2:05]deserves to be worshiped there are multiple types of tahit multiple forms
[2:17]of tawheed one of them is unity in worship what does that
[2:25]mean it means one cannot worship any being other than allah and
[2:31]the only being who deserves to be worshiped is allah subhanahu wa
[2:39]that being said when we come to sajdah sujud is an act
[2:44]of worship so a question comes to mind when we read the
[2:48]the verses that speak about the angels prostrating for adam and that
[2:56]is how could they have prostrated for adam when they should only
[3:01]prostrate for allah they should only worship allah so we said we'll
[3:06]read a few traditions which explain this sajdah and how it was
[3:15]not a form of worship for adam alaihissalam we started off with
[3:21]a hadith by imam alaihi salat was salaam let us re-read the
[3:25]first portion of the hadith which we already read and explained and
[3:29]we'll continue wherever we left off the imam was asked can someone
[3:38]actually prostrate for someone other than allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala the imam said
[3:44]what he said no so then the person asked the imam he
[3:50]said if that's the case then how come allah how come allah
[4:00]wa'ta'ala commanded the angels to prostrate for adam so the imam said
[4:09]said he who prostrates due to allah's command because allah subhanahu wa
[4:15]is telling him to prostrate that person or that individual has truly
[4:19]prostrated for allah azzawajal then he said allah he said as he
[4:31]was explaining further he said that this individual's prostration was for god
[4:37]because it was a result of god's command so is telling us
[4:44]that ultimately since allah told the angels to prostrate then their prostration
[4:51]is a worship for who it's a form of worship for god
[4:54]azzawajan suppose that tomorrow for example allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells all
[5:01]of us somehow to prostrate for uh imam i'm not saying this
[5:08]is going to happen i'm saying suppose allah directs a command to
[5:13]us telling us prostrate for imam al-mullah what should we do at
[5:18]that point obviously we should prostrate for him because if you prostrate
[5:21]for him due to allah's command you are in reality prostrating for
[5:26]allah azzawajal bear in mind of course bear in mind that according
[5:30]to our islamic set of laws as we said last week according
[5:34]to our islamic set of laws we are not allowed to prostrate
[5:39]for anyone other than allah azza not even for it uh thus
[5:49]we have uh beautiful traditions that are in reality uh part of
[5:56]ziara part of the ziyarahs of ahmed bay you know when we
[6:00]visit the imams teach us what to say and in certain ziadas
[6:08]we're told to perform what we call salat salat here someone who
[6:17]doesn't know our traditions well and someone who's not familiar with the
[6:23]shihaz and their beliefs might believe that we're praying for the imams
[6:28]and we're actually doing salat for the infallible when that's not the
[6:33]case in some of those yadas we have a dua right after
[6:37]the prayer right after salat ziyarah which explains what is long story
[6:43]short it's a prayer done for allah which is sent as a
[6:51]gift to the imam in clearer terms it's a prayer done for
[6:58]god you're worshiping allah and not the imam when you're praying that
[7:01]particular prayer but you send the reward of the prayer to the
[7:10]imam so it's a gift that you sent to the imam in
[7:13]the dua that we recite after salatu ziyarah the imam teaches us
[7:18]to say that ya allah this prayer has been done for you
[7:26]and only you and in it he teaches us to say ya
[7:34]allah one cannot perform nor nor can he pray for anyone other
[7:39]than you hence we said last week that we cannot bow down
[7:43]for certain creations or any creation similarly we cannot do sujud for
[7:52]any creation he is a slave of god who was created by
[8:10]god why was he created by god he says he was created
[8:18]by god to worship god and to believe in his unity so
[8:21]the imam al-islam is revealing for us that ultimately even iblees the
[8:27]arch enemy of god was created for a good reason he was
[8:32]created to be good and not to be evil then he said
[8:48]he already knew what was iblis and what shall he become in
[8:55]the future as in he knew that this individual will rebel against
[8:59]allah at a certain point and will turn into a devil fellaini
[9:08]yes angels of god until he was tested through the prostration for
[9:22]adam said refused to prostrate for adam out of what out of
[9:35]envy then he said was is the opposite of sahada so shakawa
[9:48]means unhappiness and sahada means happiness so the imam is saying that
[9:58]ibilis refused to prostrate for adam alaihissalam for two reasons one was
[10:06]his envy and the other was his unhappiness he says that the
[10:13]unhappiness of iblis overwhelmed him or his unhappiness defeated him what does
[10:20]that mean bear in mind i'm giving you a literal translation of
[10:23]the hadith right now when he says we want to understand this
[10:27]part what does this part actually mean ultimately iblees is like us
[10:37]humans humans engines are similar from our perspective they're similar when it
[10:41]comes to tech leaf both creations are demanded by god subhana ta'ala
[10:49]to obey him both creations were given the power to understand and
[10:56]they were given free will thus jinns and humans may be good
[11:06]believers and jinns and humans may be bad disbelievers in better terms
[11:11]both of these creations have the option of obeying allah and dwelling
[11:19]in heaven or disobeying allah and dwelling in hell fire hence as
[11:25]we've said before there are jinns who are mu'minim [Music] there are
[11:40]certain lines of poetry written in the books of makkatin the books
[11:46]called makta there are certain lines of poetry that were recited by
[11:54]the jinns jinns had recited these lines of poetry mourning which jinns
[11:59]are these obviously not iblees and not the likes of these rather
[12:04]they were jinns like us individuals who loved on the other hand
[12:10]there are jinns who are disobedient they are obedient to ibilis and
[12:17]disobedient to god the same applies to mankind you have good humans
[12:22]and you have evil humans although everyone essentially was what was good
[12:29]everyone was created pure but the jinns and the humans sometimes deviate
[12:35]and choose to be evil that being said now we can understand
[12:40]what the the meaning of since both of these creations humans and
[12:46]jinns have free will and have the option of obeying allah or
[12:52]disobeying him this means that both of them have the option of
[13:02]being happy or unhappy in the hereafter how will you be happy
[13:07]you'll be happy in the hereafter if you dwell in heaven and
[13:10]you'll be unhappy if you dwell in hell fire so when the
[13:15]imam says he means to say that there was some part in
[13:26]iblis which called him to do what which called him to sin
[13:29]and he gave into that part he gave into that part in
[13:36]him which called him to disobey allah subhana wa he gave into
[13:42]that part and as a result became unhappy he became what from
[13:47]the dwellers of hellfire the sad thing about shaipan is what the
[13:53]sad thing is he himself sealed his fate he himself chose to
[14:03]dwell in hellfire why do i say this because even though he
[14:10]disobeyed allah subhanahu wa tahalah by refusing to prostrate for adam he
[14:16]could have apologized to god and he could have said ya allah
[14:23]i'm sorry i went through a moment of arrogance i don't know
[14:26]what happened to me you know i felt weak against my desire
[14:29]or my anger etc and now i want to repent and i'm
[14:34]going to do sajdah for adam you know if he did not
[14:39]allah would have eventually accepted his repentance the web means what it's
[14:44]one of his names it means he is a god who accepts
[14:46]repentance and abundance not once or twice he keeps on accepting the
[14:53]repentance of his creations and he is rahim extremely merciful so if
[14:58]he actually turned to god and said ya allah say i'm sorry
[15:04]i did wrong and it was an hour of weakness now i
[15:07]want to do sajdah for adam allah would have accepted his repentance
[15:13]but the problem is what the problem is he persisted at sinning
[15:16]and up until today he still persists and will continue to persist
[15:22]in sinning until the day until the day of his death instead
[15:28]of using his life his long life to actually repent he's using
[15:33]it to do what to exact his revenge upon adam through me
[15:38]and you by deviating me and you which is quite unfortunate then
[15:46]the imam said at that point when he refused to prostrate for
[15:55]adam allah cursed him cursing him means what remember we explained the
[16:00]meaning of cursing last week it means he pushed him away from
[16:03]his mercy out of the ranks of the angels and that indicates
[16:20]that his level dropped in the eyes of god he dropped from
[16:24]the level of an angel to a devil he became the devil
[16:30]next he says and allah brought him down to earth so when
[16:43]he was brought down to earth he was not brought down to
[16:48]earth with honor with respect rather he was kicked out or exiled
[16:54]from the place in which he would reside that indicates that allah
[17:03]was angry at iblis sometimes you have creations of god that come
[17:08]down to earth but they come down with honor they come down
[17:13]within with a holy mission for example the angels the angels every
[17:19]night of destiny come down to earth right allah says that the
[17:27]angels and the spirit come down every night of destiny they came
[17:34]down last year and they'll come down next year inshallah in shah
[17:38]ramadan they come down upon who according to our traditions they come
[17:41]down upon the the proof of allah on earth so they used
[17:50]to come down on rasulallah when he was the proof of god
[17:54]on earth then they used to come down upon amir al-m when
[17:57]he was the proof of god on earth and today they come
[18:02]down on sahaba may allah is reappearance since he is the proof
[18:05]of allah subhanahu wa on earth this of course doesn't make our
[18:10]imams prophets keep that in mind the last prophet is muhammad sallallahu
[18:14]alaihi wasallam but this is something that uh the proofs of allah
[18:23]who are prophets and non-prophets share they share this uh trait that
[18:31]the angels and the rooh descend upon them on the night of
[18:35]destiny when the angels come down it's not that they're coming down
[18:39]because allah is angry with them right they're coming down with a
[18:43]mission with a holy mission with iblees no he came down because
[18:53]allah kicked him out from where he was residing due to that
[19:05]reason iblees became the enemy of adam and his children uh what
[19:25]kind of powers does iblees have when coming to uh misguiding people
[19:33]can he force people into sin can he actually you know force
[19:39]me to drink wine force me to walk to a bar or
[19:44]force me to listen to music etc the imam said no he
[19:46]said yes he became your enemy but the only thing he could
[19:50]do the only thing he can do is call you to sin
[19:56]and whisper so shaytan can only encourage us to sin meaning he
[20:04]adds fuel to the fire i'm not sure if you remember but
[20:09]we said before that there is a part in us fallible human
[20:15]beings in the fallible human beings called enera this part calls us
[20:22]to do what to sin to disobey allah so you can consider
[20:28]this to be an inner devil an inner a devil elise may
[20:36]allah and other shayateen such as other jinns or certain human beings
[20:42]they add fuel to the fire they aid this inner coal but
[20:46]they can't force you if you don't want to sin you're not
[20:50]going to say it they add pressure on you shaytan beautifies the
[20:55]sin because he wants you to do it so he beautifies it
[21:00]for you he tries to strengthen your you know desire or anger
[21:04]but ultimately it's your choice and my choice then the imam says
[21:16]this is a marvelous segment he says even though iblis disobeyed allah
[21:25]he still acknowledged that allah is the lord of the universe so
[21:32]he never denied the fact that allah was the lord in existence
[21:38]he never denied allah's lordship thus you you see in the quran
[21:43]he asks allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala to do what to delay his punishment
[21:48]and to grant him respite that in itself indicates that he's admitting
[21:54]allah is the lord in this universe because he's asking him to
[21:59]grant him his need and that's part of what lordship part of
[22:07]lordship is that allah fulfills your needs do we have a question
[22:25]on this hadith before i continue no questions let's move on to
[22:52]another hadith there's another hadith by imam let me copy and paste
[23:10]the hadith for you it's a long hadith it's a long hadith
[23:16]found in the book in it imam [Music] he mentioned certain events
[23:36]that took place and he mentions how are superior to the angels
[23:42]so one reason that he presents to explain how they're superior to
[23:47]the angels is the prostration for adam what does he say he
[23:53]says he says surely then created adam and he instilled us in
[24:09]his son means spine my arabic knowledge based on the the the
[24:26]meaning of soul of that dictionaries present solo in this context is
[24:33]the uh spine or you can say the vertebral colon or the
[24:37]backbone so he says that instilled us instill them their lights where
[24:48]in adam's spine or in a part of adam then he says
[24:56][Music] then he commanded the angels to prostrate for adam so the
[25:11]first reason allah commanded the angels to prostrate for adam alaihissalam and
[25:17]the first reason why he commanded them to prosecute for adam was
[25:20]so that they glorify a little bit he says so they glorify
[25:28]us and they honor us then he says he says that when
[25:39]they prostrated they were prostrating and their prostration was a form of
[25:43]worship to god and they were honoring adam through that prostration he
[25:57]says and they were honoring adam and they were submitting to adam
[26:03]because we were in his spine or in that specific part of
[26:07]adam then he how can we not be greater than thee angels
[26:24]how could we not be greater than the angels when all of
[26:29]them all of the angels prostrated for adam so a long story
[26:32]short imam allah saying that the angels were commanded to prostrate for
[26:37]adam because we ah were placed inside adam which is a clear
[26:49]proof indicating that or superior to the angels of god salah we
[26:56]have a third tradition found in the book tafsir al-haskeri al-haskeri which
[27:06]is a book containing um explanations of imam al-assad uh concerning the
[27:18]verses and surat al-baqarah in it imam and askari is narrated to
[27:24]have said that the angels when the angels prostrated for adam adam
[27:30]was their qiblah he was their qibla so adam to the angels
[27:34]was like the kaaba to us when we prostrate towards the kaaba
[27:39]we're doing so why because allah told us when you pray face
[27:45]the kaaba and when you prostrate in prayer face that god correct
[27:48]but are you worshiping the kaaba no you're facing it you're directing
[27:54]yourself to it because allah told you to do so but in
[28:00]reality you're worshiping god and the same applies to adam according to
[28:05]imam alaska he was their qibla and they prostrated towards adam when
[28:11]in reality the prostration was for allah give us a clear idea
[28:27]regarding the sajdah of the angels and how it was not a
[28:33]form of worship for adam that being said we move on to
[28:52]a new verse in surat al-baqarah verse 35 allah so here we
[29:14]see that the story of adam are in his heaven or his
[29:22]garden begins the story begins and remember this is the main reason
[29:27]why we are uh learning about adam we want to understand what
[29:30]took place when he was in that garden and how does his
[29:37]so-called disobedience not contradict his inflatability up until now what have we
[29:44]confirmed we need to remember the main points that we've confirmed based
[29:48]on the quran and we've confirmed that was created to reside where
[29:57]reside on earth he was created to come down to earth keep
[30:02]that point in mind in khalifa was created for earth not for
[30:08]that garden of his not for that jannah secondly we've confirmed that
[30:13]adam is superior to the angels and that adam was not like
[30:20]was not as some people like to say or ignorant on the
[30:30]contrary the prophet prophet adam had immense knowledge and i believe the
[30:36]verses that we dissected when allah tells him shows us that indeed
[30:43]he was not a dumb or gullible human being rather he was
[30:49]knowledgeable he had immense knowledge he had knowledge that was part of
[30:54]the knowledge of the unseen with allah's permission of course so we've
[31:00]confirmed that he was created for earth he was created to come
[31:05]down to earth he is superior to the angels that he had
[31:10]immense knowledge knowledge that not even the angels of god had and
[31:13]last but not least all of the angels were commanded to prostrate
[31:18]for adam it's essential to keep these points in mind in order
[31:23]to understand his story in the god so we start with verse
[31:26]35 of surat al-baqarah allah says and we said o adam dwell
[31:34]you and your wife in the garden and eat from it a
[31:38]plenty is food wherever you wish and do not approach this tree
[31:42]or then you will be of the unjust this is of course
[31:47]the translation of shakir pertaining to verse 35 of surat al-baqarah when
[31:52]we read this verse several questions come to mind several questions i
[31:58]don't think we'll have time to answer all these questions tonight but
[32:03]uh let's pose them or let's pose some of these questions the
[32:09]first one is what is the jannah of what is it was
[32:18]it the jannah the paradise that the believers will enter on the
[32:24]day of judgment or not that's one question second question which comes
[32:33]to mind is when allah says do not approach this tree what
[32:39]kind of command is this it's a command right he's telling him
[32:44]not to approach the tree so what kind of command is it
[32:50]that's a very important question thirdly what's so special about this tree
[32:56]when he says do not approach this tree what's so special about
[33:07]it in order for god subhanallah to tell not to approach it
[33:15]and lastly um what will happen if he approaches it what will
[33:20]happen if adam approaches that tree now before i start uh at
[33:27]least answering the first question um we need to understand one point
[33:33]and that is adam's story adam's story in the garden uh that
[33:41]story has been mentioned in the holy quran three times yeah it's
[33:47]been mentioned in surah al-baqarah surah in surah summarizes the story whereas
[33:59]in taha he gives much more detail so in order to understand
[34:03]it wow we need to do what we need to connect the
[34:06]verses together we need to connect the verses together to have a
[34:11]full understanding of the story or a better understanding of the story
[34:15]in sha allah let's start off with the first question what was
[34:21]the paradise in which adam alaihissalam sorry not the paradise the garden
[34:25]in which adam and eve was told to reside what was that
[34:38]gordon here it's important to understand the meaning of jannah from a
[34:44]literal perspective jannah the word jannah has three root letters when these
[34:59]three letters are the root letters of a particular word they indicate
[35:06]that uh something is being concealed something is being hidden let me
[35:11]give you an example what do we call a fetus in arabic
[35:17]ephedus is called asian right the root letters of janine are what
[35:31]jim noon noon why is it called jeanine because you can't see
[35:37]it it's hidden in the mother's womb in its mother's womb a
[35:41]second example what do we call a madman in arabic someone who's
[35:48]crazy again the three root letters are jim noon why do air
[36:04]people why do the arabs call someone who is delusional majnun because
[36:08]it's as if his intellect is what concealed there's something blocking that
[36:14]individual from using his intellect that's the second example a third example
[36:24]is jin's these creations that we can't see are called what jinns
[36:35]the root that root letters are what jim noon noon they're called
[36:41]jinns because you don't see them there's a barrier between humans and
[36:44]these so-called jinns the same applies to jannah the literal meaning of
[36:54]jannah is gordon that's why i kept on saying the gordon of
[36:57]adam the gordon of adam the literal meaning of jannah is gordon
[37:03]why do arabs call a gordon jannah because for one of two
[37:09]reasons if not both because parts of the gordon can seal other
[37:16]parts or because due to its uh plants and herbs the the
[37:25]the color green sometimes uh is is viewed as if it's black
[37:36]so due to the abundant amount of green plants and herbs you'll
[37:45]you'll realize that some parts of the garden are being concealed so
[37:53]the issue goes back to what to concealment if we understand this
[37:59]then we'll understand that when allah says doesn't have to be the
[38:13]abode of the believers on the day of judgment it doesn't have
[38:19]to be that because any garden any garden even the gardens we
[38:24]have outside our houses can be called janna the gordon you have
[38:29]in the backyard for example is a jannah it's yours so the
[38:37]word jannah in itself doesn't indicate that adam alaihissalam was told to
[38:45]dwell where he was told to dwell in the heaven the paradise
[38:50]in which believers will dwell on the day of judgment after they
[38:54]receive their judgment of course you might ask me why are you
[38:59]are you telling us this well firstly because about it secondly it
[39:09]can clear up some confusion regarding iblis people sometimes ask how was
[39:19]iblees able to enter the garden of adam didn't allah allah pull
[39:27]him out of heaven didn't he tell him to get out of
[39:34]heaven so how did he come back into heaven one answer is
[39:36]who said he went back into heaven who said the garden of
[39:44]adam was heaven it might have been some sort of garden uh
[39:48]found in a part in this universe outside heaven outside the paradise
[39:54]or the heaven in which the believers will reside on the day
[39:58]of judgment in fact this is what the hadith of multiple hadith
[40:04]speaking about this issue one hadith is the following let me send
[40:11]it to you you can find it in tafsir so the tradition
[40:35]goes back to imam assad he was he was asked was the
[40:46]gordon of adam from the gardens of this world or the gardens
[40:49]of the here after it was from the gardens of this world
[41:03]the the the sun and the moon would rise in that specific
[41:11]garden it's as if that gordon was from the gardens of the
[41:22]hereafter then adam alaihissalam wouldn't have come out of it he would
[41:28]have resided in that garden for eternity because jenna the paradise that
[41:36]insha allah will enter in on a day of judgment um is
[41:41]called janna tilfun if you enter it you don't leave it you
[41:48]remain there yes allah can bring you out if he wants to
[41:50]but he won't the dwellers of heaven once they enter heaven they
[41:58]remain in heaven for eternity forever so according to this hadith imam
[42:05]alaihi is saying if adam was residing in the heaven in paradise
[42:10]then he would he wouldn't have come out of it any questions
[42:51]the second question we posed was what what is this tree that
[43:01]was told not to approach before we answer this question let's go
[43:08]to the third question which was what type of command was allah's
[43:13]command when he said do not approach here we need to understand
[43:20]a really important point brothers and sisters are really important allah's commands
[43:26]are of different types sometimes allah's command is what we call ammur
[43:34]means it means his canaan must be obeyed and if you defy
[43:43]his command you deserve what punishment so any command which falls under
[43:51]this category amer melody you can also call it if you define
[43:59]this type of command you will deserve what punishment from allah because
[44:05]you must perform these commandments for example when allah tells us to
[44:14]pray the five daily prayers allah doesn't give you the choice of
[44:19]defining him or disobeying he tells you have to pray five times
[44:25]a day and if you don't then prepare yourselves for unbearable punishments
[44:32]similarly when allah tells us for example not to fornicate to avoid
[44:40]to refrain from zina or to refrain from drinking wine or eating
[44:45]pork that's he doesn't give you the choice you have to do
[44:51]it if you don't refrain from those deeds then prepare yourselves for
[44:56]what for unbearable punishment in the hereafter these are what examples of
[45:06]amer another example pertaining to adam's story alaihissalam is the command that
[45:10]was directed to the angels when they were told to prostrate that
[45:14]was because we saw as soon as iblees refused to prostrate for
[45:22]adam what did allah do allah casted him out of the ranks
[45:27]of the angels he got angry at him he cursed him and
[45:32]he dropped from the level of an angel to a devil so
[45:35]it was it means he didn't have the choice of refraining from
[45:40]prostrating for adam however not all of god's commands are away we
[45:50]have other types of commands from god for example we have what
[45:58]we call amir nedbi or if you want call it what's the
[46:06]baby it's a command that you can disobey allah perform x y
[46:16]and z but he gives you the option of performing it or
[46:22]not if you perform it he rewards you if you don't perform
[46:28]it he doesn't punch so his armor his command encourages you to
[46:34]do what to actually perform x y and z but it's not
[46:39]a must allah tells that this command can be defined you can
[46:47]disobey it i don't encourage you to disobey but you can if
[46:53]you disobey then you will not be punished in the hereafter do
[46:58]you have examples yes we do plenty of examples think of all
[47:05]the musta you know such as performing tasma after prayer does allah
[47:10]want me to perform after prayer yes he does he wants you
[47:15]to do it meaning he tells you do it after prayer but
[47:23]i have the option of doing it or not if i don't
[47:27]do it he won't punish me yes i will lose a lot
[47:32]of rewards a lot of benefits but that's my loss it's my
[47:36]choice to gain those benefits think of salah it's very recommended highly
[47:45]recommended it was upon rasulallah but upon us it's recommended if i
[47:53]willfully sleep at night no no no every night i wake up
[47:57]for salat and day and i will for this it's not that
[48:01]i sleep and i don't wake up i wake up and i
[48:05]willfully go back to sleep knowing that i'm not going to pray
[48:07]salah today will allah punish me no he won't will i lose
[48:12]a great amount of benefit yes i will it's he tells me
[48:19]praise allah but the choice is mine a third example is fasting
[48:27]fasting in general is mustahab except on certain days it's haram such
[48:32]as the days of eid except on certain days in which it's
[48:35]disliked like for example the day of arafah if you're going to
[48:43]fast knowing that fasting will weaken you it will weaken you and
[48:48]it won't allow you to um supplicate in that case it's disliked
[48:54]to fast the day of arafah or fast in the day of
[49:00]arafah when there's a possibility it's not arafat it's actually here it's
[49:06]also my crew the fast the day of arafah meaning the reward
[49:12]of fasting that day reduces but in general fasting is musta suppose
[49:20]someone does not fast any recommended fast he only fasts the wajib
[49:26]fast such as that's it will allah punish him no will he
[49:33]have lost some benefits yes he will so that's um do we
[49:41]have a third type of amar yes we do amar what's up
[49:51]is a command which reveals for you that if you do a
[49:58]particular deed you will benefit and if you don't do it you
[50:07]will be harmed to a certain extent so it's a it's a
[50:11]command that you can define a command that you can disobey but
[50:15]the person who's commanding you the individual who's commanding you is doing
[50:21]so in order to tell you that um you should watch out
[50:27]and you should do x y and z in order to protect
[50:33]yourself from harm and to gain a particular benefit let me give
[50:38]you an example take the example of uh doctors when a doctor
[50:45]knows you're healthy you have absolutely no health problems but then again
[50:52]he gives you a bit of health advice telling you to eat
[50:57]for example these foods and to refrain from those foods you tell
[51:01]the doctor is it a must do i have to listen to
[51:06]these you know to these words they have to obey you he
[51:10]tells you no if you don't want to obey me that's your
[51:11]choice but i'm telling you to eat these foods because i want
[51:18]you to be healthier and i'm telling you to avoid these foods
[51:26]because i don't want your health to be harmed whatsoever even if
[51:31]the harm is little or small that's um let me give you
[51:37]another example suppose that a child has a karate tournament that he
[51:47]wants to attend and his father tells him not to go to
[51:53]the tournament because he doesn't want him to get hurt now the
[51:58]the father knows that ultimately his child won't die and he won't
[52:03]get harmed severely but out of his compassion he doesn't want his
[52:10]child to bear any harm even if the harm is little or
[52:13]small so he tells him not to go to the tournament that's
[52:17]ahmad because he knows if he goes to the tournament even if
[52:22]he gets the trophy he's going to have to go through it
[52:24]through an amount of pain since he will be facing strong opponents
[52:31]so he tells him don't go to the tournament now the child
[52:37]tells his father uh father jani if i go you will be
[52:41]displeased with me he tells him no no i won't be displeased
[52:44]with you you can still go but i advise you not to
[52:48]go because i don't want you to bear that horn that's what
[52:52]amer now the question is if we've understood these different types of
[53:00]these different types of commands the question is when allah told adam
[53:07]when he told adam which command was that what we can say
[53:25]for sure is it was not there is no doubt it was
[53:32]not amar which explains to us how adam didn't sin ali even
[53:39]though he approached the tree ultimately i think all of us have
[53:46]heard the story adam alaihissalam will approach the tree and he will
[53:51]disobey allah as in he won't you know listen to that specific
[53:57]command even then his deed is not a sin because the amer
[54:03]itself the command was not maulawi it was not a command that
[54:10]he had to perform he had the choice of actually approaching the
[54:18]tree or not was it some of our scholars say yes it
[54:24]was or they inclined towards this opinion like in his book he
[54:35]says or uh he inclines towards this opinion he accepts it or
[54:42]he inclines towards it whereas we have other scholars like this teacher
[54:50]who say so what we need to do now is we need
[54:58]to present proof indicating that the amar the command was not maulawi
[55:04]and that's what we'll we'll we'll be doing inshaallah next week if
[55:08]we're still alive alhamdulillah allah
