[0:07][Music] so [Music] the fallen angel is a figure who is commonly
[0:49]seen as an angel that audaciously decided to wage war against god
[0:59]and is often considered to be the devil satan this view is
[1:09]predominantly espoused within christianity biblically satan was created as a guardian cheer
[1:21]up angel who was ordained with the responsibility of watching over the
[1:29]garden of eden and was created with pristine being one of the
[1:38]most attractive angels of god almighty full of potential however satan had
[1:44]his pride get the best of him and began to fantasize being
[1:53]worshiped rather than worshiping eventually contemplating having a throne risen for himself
[2:02]above the throne of god almighty as a result god decided to
[2:09]smite him and banish him exiling him from the heavens jesus in
[2:16]the chapter luke says i saw with my own eyes the devil
[2:25]falling like lightning from the heavens the phrase or title the fallen
[2:33]angel is used interchangeably with the devil otherwise known as lucifer for
[2:38]these reasons is there a common denominator between the biblical narrative of
[2:44]the fallen angel and the quranic narrative of shaytaan shaitaan according to
[2:57]islamic theology was banished but by consensus of scholarship is not an
[3:10]angel however there have been some researchers who have claimed that shaitaan
[3:15]like the christian narrative was an angel and can be seen as
[3:21]a fallen angel within islamic theology they will use some quranic verses
[3:33]to substantiate their claim one verse that is used is the following
[3:44]bismillah and when we commanded the angels to bow down to adam
[3:57]as their direction of worship similar to how we bow down towards
[4:02]the kaaba as our direction of worship the angels were not commanded
[4:08]to worship adam but to take his direction as their means to
[4:14]worshiping allah adam was the kaaba for the angels illah with the
[4:19]exception of iblis the devil shaitaan khan al-jin he was from the
[4:27]jinn how could god be addressing the assembly of the angels and
[4:33]expecting shaytaan to also bow down to adam if ada if shaytan
[4:42]was not an angel and when the sentence says kaname jin he
[4:47]was from the jinn that doesn't mean he was from the species
[4:51]of jinn those who suggest that shaitaan was an angel will claim
[4:56]rather it means he was from the angels that worked within the
[5:04]jinan within jenna within heaven this argument holds multiple fallacies how so
[5:13]because to say kana min jin means that he wasn't from the
[5:19]species of jinn as we have understood within islamic theology there are
[5:27]three intellectual species that have been created the human being the angels
[5:36]and the jinn here allah means that the jinn were the angels
[5:44]that worked as custodians in the jinnah that is not what is
[5:50]understood immediately when reading the verse so allah could not simply expect
[5:57]this from society to understand that this means that he works within
[6:00]the heavens a disobedient angel furthermore all angels are custodians of the
[6:07]heavens so this is an additional piece of information that is not
[6:11]beneficial at all the main argument that does hold some merit is
[6:21]how can allah address a group of angels and assume that shaytan
[6:27]would also follow with that command if he wasn't an angel he
[6:32]made that exception with the exception of iblis the devil in arabic
[6:40]syntax and grammar and naha there is a rule called the exception
[6:45]rule there are two types of exceptions within arabic grammar a disconnected
[6:59]and connected exception in this context depending on the context of the
[7:06]sentence and paragraph and phrase you can have the exception be related
[7:11]to the previous discussion or not this context has iblees disconnected from
[7:20]the previous discussion of the angels how so because of the next
[7:25]sentence he was from the jinn not from the angels another example
[7:30]of this connected and disconnected exception is when allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala describes
[7:38]the atmosphere of heaven for the believers in surat maryam and the
[7:47]verse says they will not hear in heaven ill speech derogatory speech
[7:59]accept peace peacefulness does the exception mean that peacefulness is derogatory no
[8:07]it means you will not hear ill speech the only thing you
[8:14]will hear is peaceful speech this is this is an exception that
[8:20]is disconnected obviously how would it have been connected had allah said
[8:26]for example that they will not hear ill speech fables and wrong
[8:31]stories for example that would be like saying and the only thing
[8:37]that they will hear which is ill speech is the following but
[8:40]because salama is the complete opposite of ill speech this is a
[8:50]disconnected exception likewise in the previous verse within the holy quran shaytan
[8:54]is a disconnected exception but in that case why would allah still
[8:57]expect him to do sujud when addressing the entire assembly of angels
[9:04]imagine there are trillions of them quattrillion angels and literally only one
[9:11]according to reports in a hadith the only one that was not
[9:15]an angel in that presence was iblis was the shaytan himself allah
[9:21]will not announce all trillions of angels and the one jinni do
[9:30]suju to adam when he says o all angels do suju to
[9:36]adam it comes obvious that it means you too iblis it goes
[9:42]without saying how did he get to the ranks of the angels
[9:47]however such that he is amongst this massive assembly when allah orders
[9:52]them to do sujud to adam that he is also expected to
[9:57]do suju to him as well some have said that at one
[10:05]point there were only jinn on earth previous to the creation of
[10:12]human beings the in the earth was inhabited by only jinn there
[10:17]are only three intellectual creations the human the angel and the jinn
[10:25]previous to the humans the jinn dwelled the earth and they began
[10:31]to spread corruption eventually associating partners and deities with allah and killing
[10:39]and oppressing one another the angels allah ordered them to go and
[10:45]fight the jinn wage war against them and this was this long
[10:52]epic war angelic battle between the angels and the jinn eventually the
[10:57]angels won the surviving jinn had to be taken captive however where
[11:03]were they taken to the heavens they were first banished to some
[11:08]islands off the coast of the mainland but one of these angels
[11:12]was worshipping allah and so this captive was taken to the heavens
[11:20]instead this one of these jinn rather was taken to the heaven
[11:24]and began to worship allah there and pray and supplicate to the
[11:30]lord eventually elevating in the ranks of spirituality leading him to that
[11:37]station amongst the angels in the school of the shia school of
[11:42]thought we reject the story for multiple reasons this narrative does not
[11:49]have a solid chain of narrators for us to accept it first
[11:54]of all and it's not found in multitudes within our reports and
[11:59]our canonized text furthermore it doesn't even make sense the angels had
[12:05]to wage war against the jinn means that they struggled and fought
[12:09]them for a long time when we've read traditions that the angel
[12:15]gabriel with just the edge tip of one of the feathers on
[12:19]his wings destroyed the entire nation of the people of lut then
[12:26]why would the angels have to conflict and fight and wage war
[12:30]against the jinn all of a sudden nothing can compete with the
[12:33]might and strength of the angels of allah then how did shaytan
[12:42]get to the heavenly abode like he was created amongst the angels
[12:48]he was created to worship allah but the one exception he had
[12:53]that differentiated him with the angels was that he had free will
[12:59]the angels don't have free will they are designed and they are
[13:07]created with predestination to follow everything that allah commands them to do
[13:12]but the shayateen have free will like the human beings the jinn
[13:19]and ins have the decision to move and create and speak however
[13:31]they will nothing is predestined except very little and so having that
[13:38]common trait with the human being free will means that you can
[13:46]disobey allah this is something you can do iblis decided to disobey
[13:51]allah but originally at first was created amongst the angels similar to
[13:56]how other jinn were also created amongst the other creations of allah
[14:02]and recognizing acknowledging allah worshipping him his free will got him in
[14:08]trouble he used it for wrong after this event when allah ordered
[14:13]him to bow down to adam and he refused to do so
[14:18]allah began to give him an opportunity to explain himself from his
[14:24]infinite mercy even shaitaan has the opportunity to not necessarily defend himself
[14:32]but rather explain his decision-making allah says on the holy quran what
[14:50]prevented you from prostrating to that which i created with my own
[14:59]hands metaphorically speaking of course allah specifically said that i created this
[15:05]meaning if i hold any value to you consider i made this
[15:10]and i am ordering you to do suju to it this is
[15:14]associated with me i made it with my own hands what could
[15:19]have possibly prevented you from disassociating your love to me and your
[15:25]recognition to me the lord from this order and command the following
[15:31]line is very fascinating did you find yourself arrogant or above all
[15:43]else you felt that you were ali above everyone else stuck up
[15:52]iblis said something profound profoundly racist i'm greater than him better than
[16:10]him why you created me from fire and you created him from
[16:15]mud therefore i am much better fire is better than mud that
[16:18]is literally saying that black or white is greater than the other
[16:23]what is the methodology in concluding that fire can be better or
[16:30]greater than mud or clay you created the man adam from madhya
[16:35]allah okay fire is greater than what okay in what situation which
[16:43]context what is the barometer that deduces that fire is greater than
[16:47]mud household furthermore i allah subhanahu ta'ala ordering you to do something
[16:51]until it meets your criteria you will follow what i am saying
[16:55]worshiping your own pride and ego in these verses we notice allah
[17:04]calling the devil said iblis is his formal name iblis comes from
[17:19]the root ablaze to have despair and yes to be in a
[17:26]state of despair in the holy quran we find bismillahim that when
[17:46]the hour comes the criminals will be in a state of despair
[17:52]the same term was also used here despair and shaitaan carries that
[17:59]as his formal title and name to have that despair because one
[18:05]of the biggest sins in islamic theology is to have despair from
[18:13]allah meaning to believe allah cannot help you in a situation you've
[18:17]wronged yourself so much that not even god can forgive you when
[18:22]you say that not even god can do anything for you means
[18:29]that you have limited allah you've restricted god oh allah subhanahu wa
[18:33]you can do everything except this you cannot forgive me and that
[18:38]is haram and so he associates that [Music] in that case get
[19:10]out from here leave this heavenly abode that i have given you
[19:14]i've gave you as your residence for all of your entire life
[19:23]you must leave now you have been banished and exiled and upon
[19:29]you will be my condemnation until the day of judgment shaitaan gave
[19:37]a reply um in that case my lord please allow me the
[19:58]longevity to live until the day they are resurrected allah gave him
[20:03]what he wanted even shaytan can have his wishes fulfilled from allah
[20:08]so never have despair and it's the mother of all ironies the
[20:12]very creation named after despair sees that really if he wants and
[20:19]he asks allah in a manner that is befitting rabbi my nourisher
[20:24]my lord make me able to live until they are resurrected allah
[20:29]says in that case you will have that long life until the
[20:37]time of resurrection that in that case i will misguide all of
[20:49]them by your glory of course i can't do anything unless you've
[20:53]given me permission and the free will to do so i will
[20:56]misguide i will attempt my best to misguide all of them with
[21:00]the exception of a specific group of people the purified servants that
[21:09]are chosen they have this purity to them these are the prophets
[21:16]of allah affect them the prophets of god and the imams of
[21:22]bayt i will try to misguide all of them but this group
[21:27]of people i cannot misguide and the beauty in this set of
[21:37]verses allah gives shaytan the moment to explain himself try defending yourself
[21:46]here even though allah knows the answer yet he still asks him
[21:49]so he gives him the burden of truth what prevented you explain
[22:00]yourself here manifesting the ada the supreme justice that allah has even
[22:07]to shaitaan and even in this condition allowing him to have what
[22:13]he desires giving us that moment to reflect that if shaytan can
[22:20]have his desires accepted and have his moment to defend and explain
[22:25]then where do we the bashar the insane stand let us take
[22:34]the time and the opportunistic moment to beseech our lord none of
[22:40]us are fallen devils or banished angels or anything of that sort
[22:46]and at the end of the day allah has ordained the human
[22:51]being with that responsibility of representing him to the creation the skies
[22:57]are the limit if even for the shaitaan allah can grant him
[23:02]some of that desire then where do we stand may allah subhanahu
[23:08]wa ta'ala bless us all in that regard keep us away from
[23:14]the shaitaan regime and closer to our man barakatuhu [Music] you
