[6:29]this one is up to my lap but anyways and if you

[6:31]can move a little bit to that side there's a bit of

[6:33]space over there so if you can fill up the space a

[6:36]bit more so that the newcomers inshallah can come forward please come

[6:39]forward continuing with our discussion on this whole concept of wilaiah now

[7:05]that we have arrived at almost the big picture here we have

[7:11]discussed the wilaiah of allah discussed the wilaiah of rasulullah discussed and

[7:20]we've discussed the wilayah of the mumineen as well which are the

[7:23]four types of wilayah that are commanded by allah and the holy

[7:28]quran these are the ones whom you should declare as masters and

[7:31]follow in their path such that inshaallah you follow the surah al

[7:36]mustaqim which will end up inshaallah in jannah when we recite and

[7:45]surat al hamd ikhdina saratal mustaqim o allah guide us to the

[7:50]straight path that straight path is the path of whom saratal ladina

[7:55]and aamta aleyhim the path of those whom you have blessed who

[7:58]are those whom allah has blessed according to the ruayat including al

[8:02]haqim al hasakani who was a hanafi in his book shabbat al

[8:05]tanzeer he says so that straight path is indeed the path of

[8:18]the prophet and his family his divine family now that we come

[8:24]to this understanding so far that we as believers in allah need

[8:31]to follow allah need to follow rasulullah need to follow and we

[8:38]need also to have this recognition of the we need to have

[8:42]the obedience in the sense that we need to cooperate and work

[8:47]collectively on the obedience of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and we need

[8:51]to have this love amongst each other as well now when we

[8:56]come to the quranic implementation and the significance of some of these

[9:04]wilayat how significant it is let us take a look at this

[9:09]verse that was recited earlier from surat al ahzab verse number seventy

[9:15]two and seventy three the last two verses of surat al ahzab

[9:18]allah says we have shown or displayed the amanah the trust okay

[9:34]we'll come to the trust shortly we have showed this trust to

[9:38]who deflated to who what are the the skies what else and

[9:48]the earth what else and the mountains and all of them what

[9:54]did they respond allah says they refused to bear this trust they

[10:04]were not capable not only they refused they were incapable of carrying

[10:10]this trust the human being carried distrust indeed he was an oppressor

[10:22]extremely oppressive and extremely ignorant what is distrust well let's continue in

[10:29]the ayat and then we come back apparently it's something that deals

[10:32]with something that's important why because allah says in the next verse

[10:41]so that allah would punish those who are hypocrites be it male

[10:46]or female the hypocrite ones allah will punish them and what else

[10:51]one those who are associate male or female those who associate something

[10:57]with allah and allah forgives or has repentance over who and then

[11:08]allah says so apparently allah is all forgiving all merciful apparently this

[11:14]this trust deals with them something that is very serious with which

[11:19]allah can distinguish the hypocrites with which he can also distinguish the

[11:25]people who rejected altogether associate something with allah and the believers so

[11:31]what is this amanah what is this trust and interpreters of the

[11:35]holy quran have come up with several interpretations we'll just go over

[11:39]two of them for the sake of time because we have further

[11:42]discussion inshaallah based on this ayah one explanation is that distrust is

[11:49]tawheed tawheed allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to believe in allah they believe

[11:53]in allah some people they believe in allah subhanahu wa ta'ala others

[12:00]they show that they believe in allah subhanahu wa ta'ala but in

[12:04]their heart they don't believe they were hypocrites in fact at the

[12:08]time of rasulullah they were hypocrites and that's something important to understand

[12:14]brothers and sisters these hypocrites were living with they were seeing with

[12:20]us seeing rasulullah they were dealing with rasulullah they were so called

[12:26]quote unquote companions of rasulullah and hence there is a whole ayah

[12:34]there is a whole surah in the quran called the hypocrites these

[12:39]hypocrites did not come from mars they were with rasulullah so how

[12:45]can we trust all the companions make them all infallible you know

[12:51]people accuse us of having 14 infallibles and they have mashaallah thousands

[12:57]of infallibles a person says next rasulullah sits next to rasulullah for

[13:02]one minute he can come out and start giving a hadith about

[13:06]rasulullah as much as he want and we cannot say anything about

[13:09]what he says it just doesn't make sense logically does it those

[13:14]companions some of them were hypocrites and hence the hadith that is

[13:19]narrated by some muslims my companions are like the stars with whichever

[13:29]one you seek guidance it will guide you first of all that's

[13:32]a lie not all the stars give you guidance if you talk

[13:36]to people who are you know sailors talk to the sailors they

[13:41]tell you not all the stars we use them as guidance especially

[13:43]nowadays there is like all this gps and navigation and whatever you

[13:46]know i don't know if today sailors even know what the stars

[13:48]mean but let's say in the good old days before all these

[13:52]navigation systems they would investigate certain stars which would they use for

[13:57]navigation not all the stars are used for navigation and second of

[14:01]all how could all the companions if we assume all the stars

[14:05]are used for navigation fine if we assume how could all the

[14:08]companions be of such when there are ayat the quran is saying

[14:13]about some companions being hypocrites in other words they show that they

[14:18]believe in rasulullah and islam but their true is that they reject

[14:24]islam they hate rasulullah in fact if you read the books of

[14:29]history brothers and sisters on the year nine after hijra and muslims

[14:37]agree on this event but you hardly ever hear it being mentioned

[14:41]it's written in almost all the books of history almost in the

[14:45]year nine after hijra rasulullah prepares the muslims for ghazwat tabuk a

[14:52]battle known as the battle of tabuk the prophet prepared it against

[14:56]the romans that is the only battle in which rasulullah leaves to

[15:07]fight in that battle and amir al mumineen is not with him

[15:14]the only battle otherwise sometimes the prophet sends muslims to fight in

[15:20]battles but he does not join them he does not join for

[15:23]example the battle of mu'tah in the battle of mu'tah the prophet

[15:28]sent the muslims he sent and he made the army the leaders

[15:31]of the army three people jafar tayyar jafar ibn abi talib the

[15:38]brother of imam ali ibn abi talib jafar zayd the adopted son

[15:45]of the prophet who was adopted son and the third one was

[15:47]abdullah ibn rawah and all three got killed in that battle the

[15:50]battle of mutta again against the romans was against the romans and

[15:53]they lost the muslims lost that battle but the prophet did not

[15:56]join them he did not join no did ali ibn abi talib

[15:58]but every battle the prophet went into and participated in amir ummineen

[16:05]was with him this is the only one the only time in

[16:09]which the prophet told amir ul mumineen i am leaving you as

[16:13]the deputy the representative on medina the khalifa in my absence in

[16:18]medina will be this time the hypocrites who were in medina they

[16:24]started giving rumors saying rumors they said this must be a very

[16:29]fierce battle in which the prophet knows that he is facing a

[16:33]very very fierce and strong enemy that's why he did not take

[16:37]ali ibn abi talib with him they started creating these rumors then

[16:42]ali ibn abi talib he rides a horse and he rushes after

[16:46]rasulullah who was already on the outskirts of medina he had already

[16:50]left medina he catches up with him he says you rasulullah this

[16:54]is what some of those hypocrites are saying that you left me

[16:58]behind because you're afraid that i might die or get killed because

[17:04]we're facing a very fierce enemy he said go back don't pay

[17:08]attention to what they're saying he said do you hate to be

[17:18]to me like harun was to musa except there's no prophet after

[17:21]me you are to me like harun is to musa go back

[17:23]you ali and don't listen don't pay attention to what those people

[17:27]are saying so amir al muminee goes back and stays in medina

[17:31]as the deputy of rasulullah the prophet goes to fight but then

[17:37]the battle never takes place it's a long story nonetheless the prophet

[17:41]then comes back comes back to medina on the way back to

[17:46]medina brothers and sisters the muslims come to adah joint there is

[17:52]a mountain in the middle here the prophet says myself amal ibn

[17:59]yasir and hudaifa those two will come with me we are going

[18:04]to take the lower route you know that route that is closer

[18:07]to the valley okay all the other muslims i want you to

[18:12]take the other route and then those routes will meet when they

[18:17]meet we'll see you then and wait for me if you get

[18:21]there before i do wait until i get there so they say

[18:26]yes sir the muslims are with rasulullah the prophet now departs the

[18:34]muslims who does he take with him those two individuals remember insha'allah

[18:40]amar and who khudaifa he takes those two with him all the

[18:45]other muslims are where on the other side as they are walking

[18:52]they now separate they keep walking walking after some time all of

[18:56]the sudden 12 armed men they are covered they have their faces

[19:02]covered they come to attack rasulullah 12 armed men they come to

[19:08]attack rasulullah and their plan is to push the camel of rasulullah

[19:15]into the valley such that he dies this is the plan ammar

[19:22]and hudaifah and rasulullah all three start fighting against those 12 fiercely

[19:28]the 12 lose so they ran away the prophet tells ammar and

[19:34]hudaifah did you know who they were did you catch them they

[19:38]said no you rasulullah they had their faces covered the prophet tells

[19:42]hudaifah says you hudaifah come and let me tell you who they

[19:45]are but you have to promise you never tell who they are

[19:50]so hudayfah says okay rasulallah he comes and the prophet whispers the

[19:55]names of those 12 individuals to hudayfah hudayfah becomes the man with

[20:02]a secret he knows who these 12 are now brothers and sisters

[20:08]the only people who knew the prophet was on that route were

[20:11]the muslims no one else because the muslims were with rasulullah it's

[20:16]not like the prophet told announced everybody that you know what i'm

[20:20]going to be going through this path so every new everyone knew

[20:24]rasulullah was the muslims only those people who were the army rasulullah

[20:28]they knew where he was going and hence it is safe to

[20:33]say that those 12 individuals must have come from this muslim army

[20:39]we the only ones we know for sure for certainty were not

[20:45]there are who the only ones we know for certainty that they

[20:49]were not among those 12 for sure they were not among them

[20:51]who imam khudaifa and ali ibn abi talib why because where was

[20:57]he he was in medina he was in medina otherwise they could

[21:02]all be suspects all of them are suspects you know we should

[21:08]not mention this one person we won't mention who came to hudayfah

[21:13]one day and said you hudayfah i swear upon you by allah

[21:20]tell me am i one of them hudayfah said i promise rasulullah

[21:25]i won't tell i can't tell i can't say who so now

[21:30]i wonder i leave it up to the muslims to decide if

[21:32]he's guilty or not guilty you know it's up to the muslims

[21:35]to decide but this is mentioned in the books of history in

[21:37]other words there were hypocrites at the time of rasulullah their plan

[21:42]was to kill rasulullah these were the so called quote unquote companions

[21:47]of rasulullah these were the people who came out with rasulullah to

[21:51]fight in battles hence we can't just say everybody with rasulullah was

[21:56]infallible was sacred no there were some really nice noble people the

[22:04]people like abu gharrafari like salman al farisi maghdad yes those were

[22:09]noble people we honor them we respect them but there were also

[22:14]hypocrites among rasulullah and we don't say anything we just say the

[22:20]truth this is history this is what they said and this is

[22:24]what they did so this amanah according to samuf asseveen is the

[22:30]tawheed the belief in allah why because some people accept the tawheed

[22:36]accept the message of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and allah through this

[22:40]tawheed can figure out who is a true believer versus a monafa

[22:46]the hypocrite versus the ones who reject allah altogether the so at

[22:51]the time of rasulullah were people who rejected allah altogether openly abu

[22:55]jahl abu lahab and so on and so forth abu zufyan those

[22:59]people rejected allah altogether now whether abdul sufyan later on became a

[23:03]muslim or why he didn't you know this is up for debate

[23:06]but nonetheless we want to have time to get into this so

[23:11]through this tawheed the prophet or allah can figure out those and

[23:14]he can figure out who are the mumineen the ones who truly

[23:17]believe in allah that's one definition of distrust however may allah bless

[23:26]his soul he says that meaning of does not really go with

[23:31]the meaning of the ayah why he says because allah subhanahu wa

[23:35]ta'ala says we display distrust to the skies to the earth and

[23:40]to the mountains and they refused it they refused to carry it

[23:46]he says tawheed he says everything in this universe does tawheed of

[23:49]allah allah allah says in the quran everything does tasbih of allah

[24:01]subhanahu wa ta'ala but you don't understand you don't understand their language

[24:06]the trees are actually doing tasbih of allah but we don't understand

[24:10]the tree language the animals are doing tasvir and they said in

[24:13]fact in one of the hadith of the miracles of rasulullah one

[24:17]day he took some pebbles with his companions he took some pebbles

[24:21]stones and he told them by the permission of allah speaking so

[24:26]they started speaking and the muslims heard them doing tazbir the pebbles

[24:31]are doing tazbir of allah and then the prophet told them by

[24:36]the permission of allah go back to your original state so they

[24:40]went back now we don't see them but the prophet the awliya

[24:45]of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala they can see this universe doing tasbir

[24:50]and that's another reason brothers and sisters when a person sees and

[24:55]realizes everything around him is doing tasbih he will be also indulged

[25:00]in the constant tasbih of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and he will

[25:04]always remember that's why you've had these prophets and these and those

[25:10]infallible divine individuals they are constantly in ibada imam al sajad when

[25:16]he was in sham giving the sermon in the court of yazid

[25:19]ibn al muawiyah referring to imam ali ibn abi talib says he

[25:25]did not associate anyone with allah not even for a split of

[25:28]a second how in addition to his infallibility but when he realizes

[25:35]if the walls are doing tasbir the earth is doing tasbir the

[25:39]trees are doing tasbir he realizes that how can he do how

[25:44]can he not think of allah and do the best of allah

[25:48]and again the quran tells us about dawud dawud when he used

[25:52]to recite the zaboo the trees the jabad the mountains they and

[25:57]the birds they used to do with him with dawud quran tells

[26:02]us so the mountains dawud allah when he says if we are

[26:14]to reveal this mountain of this quran upon a mountain you'll find

[26:18]it shattering out of the fear is not just an example allah

[26:22]says we give these examples to people such that they might start

[26:30]thinking this mountain it understands the greatness of the quran it knows

[26:37]it can't bear this holy quran it's so great the word of

[26:40]allah but the human is ignorant the human is ignorant so some

[26:49]of us say the whole concept of tawheed does not go with

[26:52]the with the way the other text the context of the ayah

[26:57]because the context allah is talking about tawheed if it's worth talking

[27:01]about tawheed he's talking about jubal mountains earth and skies and they

[27:04]rejected they did not reject tawheed they are in fact doing tawheed

[27:08]they worship allah so he says that no this does not go

[27:13]with the context he says what in fact it is is allah

[27:19]is talking about declaring allah as a master and this has conditions

[27:28]to declare allah as a master it means you got to recognize

[27:31]allah like we've discussed over the past few nights recognize allah recognize

[27:36]what allah wants recognize what allah wants of us and obey him

[27:42]and love him to recognize to be able to understand you need

[27:47]to have someone or something that is capable has the mind the

[27:52]of understanding recognizing thinking exploring and hence my dear brothers and my

[27:58]dear sisters who does who are all god's creation which one is

[28:02]the one that is capable of thinking and choosing and recognizing and

[28:08]obeying the only thing of god's creation is what a human being

[28:13]allah says we have honored the children of adam because they are

[28:20]the ones everything in this creation allah has made it for us

[28:25]allah has made it for us allah has said said we did

[28:28]everything is allah has given it to our disposal in this universe

[28:36]look at us the muslim the human being we send rockets to

[28:40]the moon and to mars and to other galaxies we are the

[28:44]ones ruling this earth and so on and so forth the human

[28:47]being allah has honored him with this with this mind of his

[28:52]so he is the one who's capable and hence the mountains the

[28:56]skies the earth they're incapable they are not capable of choosing thinking

[29:03]reflecting recognizing in that sense they don't have that ability and hence

[29:08]allah says they refuse and then allah says they were incapable of

[29:16]taking that responsibility they cannot they are physically incapable in their form

[29:22]of creation they just can't do it and hence who took the

[29:29]responsibility the human being however this human being he took the responsibility

[29:33]but he does not realize it is not a joke it is

[29:37]not a joke it's serious it's a serious matter and then allah

[29:40]says he was oppressor and he is ignorant he doesn't realize this

[29:47]is not a joke by taking declaring allah as the master you

[29:51]have to declare rasulullah as the master by declaring rasulullah as the

[29:57]master you have to do amir al mumineen as a master and

[29:59]here is where people started failing at these levels when the conquest

[30:05]of mecca took place in the year eight after hijra rasulullah came

[30:10]to mecca and he managed to take it all and i mentioned

[30:12]a few nights ago how he did it then the prophet said

[30:16]whomever don't kill anyone anyone who does not come to fight you

[30:20]and want to kill you you are muslims or muslims don't kill

[30:24]no one is to be killed no bloodshed total peace everybody is

[30:31]secured everyone and he mentioned certain people said in even those people

[30:37]including abu sufyan he is also in safety he's in peace and

[30:41]whomever goes to his house also in peace in other words even

[30:45]his followers his gang they're all fine as long as they don't

[30:49]take their swords and come to fight you and kill you everyone

[30:52]is in peace don't harass anybody then the prophet gathered all of

[31:00]them was mecca and he said what do you think am i

[31:03]gonna do to you all you're an honorable man you come from

[31:09]an honorable family he said indeed so i forgive you go i

[31:16]release you go i forgive you and hence zaynab in the court

[31:23]of yazid is it justice o son of those who were freed

[31:31]by my father my grandfather is it justice that you save and

[31:43]protect your women and your and your family and you're taking the

[31:48]women of rasulullah as prisoners is it fair you your grandfather was

[31:52]freed by my grandfather and look how you're treating us instead so

[31:57]this is full of ka'am he go for them then they came

[32:01]to abu sufyan abu sufyan my dear brothers and my dear sisters

[32:05]the head of pourishba at that time he was he was one

[32:07]of the masters he was not a simple man so politically he

[32:11]played a very important role he was the one in charge of

[32:16]all the battles against the muslims battle of badr it was orchestrated

[32:22]by abu sufyan abu sufyan but at the time there were also

[32:25]other heads abu jahl was with him as well so they also

[32:28]helped him out when abu jahl got killed in the battle of

[32:31]badr those other heads were disappeared you know they got eliminated he

[32:35]became the head so the battle of uhud again orchestrated by who

[32:39]abu sufyan financially and military wise he is the one who's paying

[32:45]everything he's the one who's in charge him and his wife hind

[32:49]and masha'allahi what his his wife did in the battle of uhud

[32:51]needless to say they are the ones battle of ahzab when all

[32:57]that rise again whom who who plotted the whole thing abu sufyan

[33:02]all these battles everything abu sufyan is the spearhead of everything politically

[33:09]he plays a very good role and the prophet recognizes this he

[33:13]knows he is respected by many tribes because after all comes from

[33:19]also very rich people and very influential people so rasulullah recognized this

[33:26]hence it was strategic to have abu sufyan become a muslim because

[33:30]many people if they see that abu sufyan became a muslim then

[33:34]many people will also accept islam willingly so the prophet came to

[33:38]abu sufyan and there was an abbas the uncle of the prophet

[33:42]and he said you abbasufyan say no force here but say muhammad

[34:00]testify that there is no god but allah and i am the

[34:02]messenger of allah he said you muhammad to testify there is no

[34:08]god but allah no problem i bear witness there is no god

[34:13]but allah he said but to testify you are rasulullah that's difficult

[34:22]difficult kent then abbas he was standing next to him the prophet's

[34:30]uncle he goes to him like this you know with his elbow

[34:32]he's like abu sufyan you know kind of wake up you're right

[34:35]surrounded by all muslims right now so then he kind of realized

[34:41]that you know i guess i am actually in the middle of

[34:43]all the muslims i am all by myself here so he said

[34:50]you know but let's go several years later many many years later

[34:58]when the third khalifa became a khalifa when he was nominated the

[35:03]whole plan to have him become the khalifa succeeded and he became

[35:06]the khalifa he was still alive but by that time he was

[35:11]very old and had become blind he told his servant take me

[35:16]to the grave of hamzah allahu akbar look at the hate how

[35:21]many years has it been since the battle of badr until then

[35:26]the third caliphate you know the second the first caliphate ruled for

[35:30]two years the second khalifa ruled for fifteen years that's how many

[35:34]years seventeen years and you had the battle of badr that took

[35:39]place over you know in the year first after hijra the first

[35:41]year after hijra the prophet died in the year ten after hijra

[35:44]so seventeen plus nine is how many almost 25 even more so

[35:50]all almost thirty years so after thirty years his hate is still

[35:54]in the heart he tells the servant go take me to the

[35:57]grave of hamzah he takes him to the grave of hamzah he

[36:01]kicks the grave of hamzah with his foot and he says he

[36:13]says o children of bani ummayyah take it refer to the khilafah

[36:18]he says this is what we actually were fighting for we were

[36:21]fighting to become the leaders we were fighting to become the kings

[36:25]the masters now it has come to us the third khilafah is

[36:28]from bani ummayah he says o children of bani ummayah take it

[36:33]take this khilafa like a ball no keep tight control over it

[36:40]keep it for i swear by the one who abu sufyan swears

[36:44]by allah what does he swear by he doesn't swear by rabbi

[36:48]kaaba for example the lord of the kaaba i swear by the

[36:52]one who abu sufyan swears by whatever it is there is no

[36:56]paradise nor is there a hellfire this is abu sufiya this is

[37:02]the companion of rasulullah so some people when it comes to tawheed

[37:08]they sorry when it comes to accepting allah subhanahu wa ta'ala as

[37:13]the master they fail they fail when they come accepted to rasulullah

[37:18]as a master they fail some people some people when it comes

[37:22]to accepting as a master they failed and that's unfortunately for us

[37:29]many muslims many people and we needless to go into it because

[37:35]sometimes it's a sensitive issue but the or the that trust that

[37:40]allah has ordered upon the of the human being is the belief

[37:47]in himself which then forces or endorses the belief in his apostles

[37:53]his messengers and in those divine successors that these apostles assign after

[38:00]them and for us it is immediately after the event of gadir

[38:13]immediately immediately man comes to the prophet inside his tent he said

[38:38]you rasulullah you ordered us to pray and we prayed you ordered

[38:42]us to fast we fasted you ordered us to perform charity zakat

[38:47]and we paid zakat now this was not enough for you now

[38:51]you have made your cousin as our master is it from you

[38:55]or is it from allah the prophet is swearing my god it

[39:02]is from allah it's not from me i i didn't declare him

[39:05]allah ordered me to declare him he said my lord if this

[39:17]was true from you then punish us punish us the second he

[39:22]walks out of the tent a stone falls on his head and

[39:25]he dies at that moment the ayah the surah was revealed a

[39:37]person has asked for a punishment from allah subhanahu wa and he

[39:40]received it he got it he got it so people sometimes when

[39:45]it comes to the khilafah they fail that's how allah subhanahu wa

[39:47]ta'ala distinguishes those individuals who are hypocrites some people came paid their

[39:54]allegiance to ali of all muslims came and paid their allegiance to

[39:59]ali of but immediately within a matter of a month or two

[40:03]everything got changed and there was a setback those are the ones

[40:07]who said yes yes we claim we love you we love you

[40:10]and then immediately they got you there were people who rejected the

[40:13]will of ali ibn abi talib those are the mushfiki and that's

[40:16]why the ayah says so that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to punish

[40:21]first he mentions the hypocrites because they are the majority and then

[40:24]the deniers the the mushrikhi because they are the minority and then

[40:28]allah says and allah will forgive the believers male and female those

[40:35]who actually accept the of rasulullah and the of allah so my

[40:43]dear brothers and my dear sisters having said this now that we

[40:46]accept this there is a big topic that is now stemming and

[40:51]people are discussing about it okay we know it will benefit us

[40:57]in dunya but will it also benefit us in akhirah in other

[41:00]words this whole concept of intercession does rasulullah have the power of

[41:08]intercession that's one two can we go and visit to ask him

[41:22]for shafaa to ask him to pray for us and three can

[41:29]we do that even after the prophet's death right now can we

[41:32]visit his shrine for example his mosque can we visit other shrines

[41:36]of imams because these are topics now they're being raised by individuals

[41:41]by some people well first of all shafaa my dear brothers and

[41:48]my dear sisters who does define it from intercession what does intercession

[41:52]really mean i mean they that's how they translate it in english

[41:54]but in arabic the word shafaa means when you couple two things

[41:58]together one thing is weaker than the other so the other one

[42:02]is stronger than the other one you couple two things together the

[42:09]weaker one by the power of the other gets its action done

[42:13]that's what shafaaq is okay so you couple two things together and

[42:19]generally one of them is weaker than the other so the one

[42:23]that is stronger will carry the weaker one to fulfill its task

[42:28]whatever that task may be this is in the arabic language meaning

[42:32]of shafaa so you couple action together to raise them to raise

[42:38]these actions hence this shafaa or this means this can be applied

[42:45]to matters that are with regards to creation and with matters that

[42:51]are legislative how what do we mean by this for example if

[42:56]you want to get if you're cold you want to get heat

[42:58]what do you have to do generally the fire is a source

[43:02]of heat so now when you ignite the fire the fire is

[43:06]a means the power of the fire the heat of the fire

[43:09]will give you the heat that you need to keep yourself warm

[43:14]so now basically the fire has dan shafa you've taken fire as

[43:19]a means for seeking heat now this is normal that's fine there's

[43:25]nothing here that's wrong when you're thirsty you go and drink water

[43:30]water will quench your thirst when you're hungry you'll eat food food

[43:35]will quench your hunger or save you from death starvation so this

[43:41]is important now when it comes to the legislative powers in the

[43:45]sense that our our actions is there also shafaa'a how does it

[43:50]work the verses in the quran with regards to legislative shafaa'a are

[43:54]divided into four categories four one category says there is no shafaa

[44:01]there is no shafaa what are those verses we'll just mention a

[44:05]couple of them surat al baqarah verse two fifty four allah says

[44:10]all believers spend of what we have given you before a day

[44:25]comes in which there are no companionship there is no trade there

[44:30]is no trade on that day there is no business there is

[44:33]no companionship you can't say oh this is my friend but there

[44:36]is no companionship and there is no shafa there's no intercession okay

[44:42]so that's one ayah there's no intercession another ayah allah subhanahu wa

[44:46]ta'ala says in suratul the the shafa of those who do shafaat

[44:54]will not benefit them those individuals will not benefit from the shafaat

[44:58]so there's no shafaat that's one the second type of verses say

[45:04]no there is shafaat but the shafaa is in the hands of

[45:07]allah only allah does shafaa where again let's take us one example

[45:13]for example surah 39 verse 44 all under his control that's the

[45:29]second time so the first time says there's no shafa the second

[45:33]type says there is shafaa but allah is the one who has

[45:36]the shafaa he's the one who does the intercession the third type

[45:40]of verses in the quran with regards to shafaa say no there

[45:44]are people who allah will give them the permission to perform shafaaat

[45:48]which inshallah you all have it memorized what does allah says in

[45:52]surat al baqarah verse two fifty five who does intercession before him

[46:02]except by his permission which means there are a group of individuals

[46:07]whom allah will give them the permission to do shafaa so that's

[46:11]the third type the fourth type dictates that there are conditions for

[46:16]shafaa allah says in surat al anbiya verse 28 they don't do

[46:25]shafaa except for whom he accepts the shafaa for okay so how

[46:30]can we understand these all verses is there shafaa is there no

[46:35]shafaa that's what some people who are ignorant in the context of

[46:41]the quran they come and they say at this quran in one

[46:44]part it says there is shafar another part there is no shafar

[46:47]this quran is all contradictory and hence this quran is not the

[46:50]defined word of allah that's and unfortunately some weak minds they accept

[46:55]these accusations and they follow them that's why brothers and sisters it's

[46:59]important to go back to ahlul bayt alayhi musallah ahlul bayt when

[47:03]people used to come to them with these sorts of questions they

[47:07]have the right answer to clarify the misconceptions otherwise there will be

[47:12]misconceptions otherwise if you don't have the right answer you'll start thinking

[47:17]proposing answers and then what you think is could be right or

[47:21]could be wrong that could create problems abdul bayt ali musalam come

[47:25]to tell us explain to us first of all with regards to

[47:29]verses that say that there are no shafaa there is no shafaa

[47:33]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says in surat abu dafaa the individuals that

[47:38]will never get the shafaa are those who reject allah altogether the

[47:59]people who go to jannah they will ask the people who go

[48:02]to jannah why did you go to jannah why what was the

[48:05]reason apparently there will be communication between the two what have brought

[48:10]you to jahannam why they will respond we never prayed we never

[48:19]fed the hungry we were only filling our stomachs not the poor

[48:23]we don't care about the poor us we never fed the hungry

[48:30]wherever there was vanity talk people partying joking people were having fun

[48:35]that's where we always went yazid abd al muawiyah says in his

[48:39]poetry it says leave the masjid these mosques leave them to those

[48:56]naive people who want to go and worship the al masjid al

[49:01]masjid masjid the these worshippers let them go and stay in the

[49:05]masjid we the educated class the moderners we are the modern today

[49:11]where do we go we go to the pub where the bars

[49:17]and they they give us give us the drinks the alcohol for

[49:22]i look at look at the justification that he uses allah subhanahu

[49:26]wa ta'ala does not have a verse in the quran saying woe

[49:30]upon those who drink explicitly such a verse does not exist allah

[49:34]never said woe upon those who drink but he said woe upon

[49:37]those who pray so allah says therefore i see it i'm right

[49:46]what a great justification what a great interpretation of quran so this

[49:51]is yazid al namaawiyah this is how he used to fool people

[49:56]this is how bani ummiyah used to fool people if this is

[49:58]the khalifa saying this then what do you expect the people to

[50:00]do and he is supposed to be khalifa rasulullah the one who

[50:06]succeeds rasulullah if this is what he's saying then what do you

[50:09]expect the normal people to do that's why people started to deviate

[50:15]that's why imam hussein had to rise he had to rise this

[50:17]is what the khalifa was doing nonetheless so whatever people like this

[50:24]guy was we used to run after them and we used to

[50:30]deny the day of judgment don't pray don't feed the poor run

[50:34]after the people who are like the ezeed of the mawiya don't

[50:37]accept the day of religion and hence until the certainty appeared to

[50:44]us until we die then we realize now this is reality right

[50:48]reality strikes allah says about those individuals anyone who comes to do

[50:58]shafaa for such people no permission will be given those people don't

[51:03]qualify for shafaa and hence the verses that don't talk about there

[51:07]is no shafaa is for these people for such individuals for the

[51:12]kufa of those who reject allah altogether they don't accept allah they

[51:18]don't have shafaa the verses that talk about the shafaa being for

[51:24]allah alone indeed the prophet allah like we mentioned a few nights

[51:30]ago allah is independent allah does not need anybody allah has samadh

[51:36]needless indeed he controls shafaq he has the ultimate control of shafaq

[51:42]however by his permission he can choose certain divine individuals to give

[51:49]them the permission to do shafaa he can give them that permission

[51:55]so when allah says this does not contradict that allah has the

[52:03]shafaa indeed he has the control over who does shafaa and who

[52:08]doesn't do shafaa he has the control who deserves shafaa and who

[52:12]doesn't deserve shafaa therefore for individuals to qualify in the shafaa they

[52:17]have to be believers in allah subhanahu wa ta'ala they have to

[52:21]be believers in rasulullah or the prophets of their times if they

[52:25]were from previous nations they have to be believers in such individuals

[52:33]then if they have committed some sins some crimes now these individuals

[52:38]qualify this is malik tawah and i have accepted religion or i

[52:52]have accepted islam as a religion for you so those people whom

[52:57]allah accepted their religion they will qualify yes they're not perfect our

[53:03]maybe we're at 60% 70% will come and we'll say you allah

[53:12]forgive so and so help so and so take them with us

[53:16]to jannah and it is said in the hadith that will not

[53:22]leave us alone if there are the true followers of those who

[53:27]love are obedient to but of course we are all fallible human

[53:32]beings we are not perfect we have committed some sins so always

[53:38]turn to ahlul bayt brothers and sisters especially in these majalis when

[53:42]you are the guests of ahlul bayt these you turn to ahlul

[53:46]bayt and you tell them yeah imam hussein i am your guest

[53:49]will you turn me away on the day of judgment i'm shedding

[53:53]my tears for you will you turn me away on the day

[53:56]of judgment and imam hussein would never turn anyone away in fact

[54:02]one of the says i went to do ziyah of imam hussein

[54:07]and i saw a man another alib another alab came he took

[54:13]the shrine of imam hussein he said he says i swear upon

[54:25]you by your grandfather rasulullah don't do on the day of judgment

[54:32]so i'm in turn and said what are you saying how could

[54:36]he do he said you don't understand which family he comes from

[54:43]you must have to understand what family he comes from imam hussain

[54:47]the family of honor of forgiveness a family whom allah has sent

[54:53]to rahmatullah al ameen he will do it so i'm swearing upon

[54:58]him by his grandfather not to do it but understand so that's

[55:03]why if you have your faith in ahlul bayt they will take

[55:05]care of you and by the way the ahadith by muslims all

[55:11]agree on this even in sahih bukhari and i have the reference

[55:14]if you wanted in sahih bukhari the prophet says god has blessed

[55:20]me with five unique characteristics and qualities one of them the fifth

[55:26]one he said was shafaa atufi ummaty and i do intercession for

[55:31]my nation shafaa there will be shafaa so that is rasulullah sallallahu

[55:37]alaihi wasallam abu bakr alaihi wasallam are the ones who submitted 100%

[55:43]to allah submitted everything they have they gave to allah even their

[55:48]dignity even their dignity they give for the sake of allah and

[55:53]one hadith i read in that made me cry this was a

[56:00]caliph of abbasi caliph one day he tells his minister he says

[56:04]fawl when we go this year to hajj remind me after hajj

[56:08]to go and arrest jafar ibn muhammad look at the hajj of

[56:11]abu jafar ibn muhammad this is the khalifa after i perform hajj

[56:16]remind me to go and arrest jafar ibn muhammad or else i

[56:20]will punish you so after they performed hajj fulton nabiq says i

[56:25]immediately told him he said don't forget you will have to go

[56:30]and arrest jafar ibn muhammad said good good thank you for reminding

[56:34]me they go to medina after performing hajj they go to medina

[56:38]he says you fallen go and bring me jafar ibn muhammad ibn

[56:42]tiniyi i want you to drag him bring him to me dragged

[56:49]so fadrul goes and he knocks at the door of imam jafar

[56:52]ibn muhammad al salad imam opens the door he says he said

[56:57]and ibn muminee is calling you the khalifa is calling you i

[57:02]said okay i'm coming with you he said you know what yadna

[57:05]rasulillah he ordered me to bring you dragged i have to drag

[57:10]you he said here take so if he takes imam al saddam

[57:16]and he drags him on the streets of medina this is the

[57:21]grandson of rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam imagine if you are not

[57:26]even an honorable person any simple person imagine somebody knocks at your

[57:29]door and drags you you and people are looking at you how

[57:32]would you feel how would you feel especially when you're innocent you

[57:35]haven't done anything now this is not an ordinary man this is

[57:38]the grandson of rasulullah this is the man who has thousands of

[57:42]students in medina now all these students are looking at him being

[57:47]dragged in the streets of medina to abu jafar al mansour and

[57:52]father told imam jafar al sallaf he says he seems to be

[57:55]very unhappy he seems to be very upset this abu jafar al

[57:58]mansour he told imam al saddiq but he said i saw imam

[58:04]al saddiq doing some saying some things i couldn't hear what he

[58:07]was saying as i brought him over he entered into the tent

[58:11]of abu jafar i mansur assafu jafar with a metal rod metal

[58:14]stick he said i thought that he is going to take it

[58:17]now and kill imam saddam or jafar al muhammad with it he

[58:22]said but the minute he saw him he said hello grandson of

[58:29]rasulullah he's my cousin come come over come sit next to me

[58:32]here he sat next to her they had a conversation after some

[58:36]conversation he told him muhammad i'm sorry we bothered you here you

[58:42]know i'm sorry we dragged you and whatever let me give you

[58:46]a gift he gave him a box of of perfumes perfumes he

[58:51]said here take this as a gift and i apologize for what

[58:53]we did to you go back to your house and imam jafasad

[58:57]goes back father alif says i ran after imam jafasad imam's from

[59:02]me by the way he says i ran after him and i

[59:05]said what did you do this man was so angry i thought

[59:09]he's gonna kill you what did you do you changed him 180

[59:12]degrees he said i didn't do anything he said no what were

[59:18]you saying when i was bringing you over he said i prayed

[59:21]to allah i was saying so that's what i was praying and

[59:41]this dua by the way is found after in they are short

[59:46]duas after this dua is found there also so recite it brothers

[59:51]and sisters inshallah allah will grant you your needs he said when

[59:54]i recited this to allah allah took care of who's who's the

[59:56]king allah is the ultimate king so you find these imams they

[60:02]gave their dignity for the sake of allah their dignity sometimes was

[60:07]harassed yet they gave it if it's for the pleasure of allah

[60:13]they gave it so how could allah not accept their shafarah how

[60:18]could allah not accept them now the question can we go to

[60:22]them indeed there is no dispute upon muslims between muslims at all

[60:28]that you can go to rasulullah during his life at least and

[60:32]ask him to do dua for you no one no one disputes

[60:37]nobody the big dispute is after rasulullah can you visit the grave

[60:42]of rasulullah and they tell you all this is nonsense and don't

[60:45]do this and don't do that don't visit the graves first of

[60:48]all my dear brothers and my dear sisters we say that we

[60:51]build you know they say you cannot build a masjid on top

[60:54]of the grave read read surat al kad the cave the companions

[61:01]of the cave and when you get to the verse when they

[61:05]were discovered you know after they discovered the companions of the cave

[61:08]you know after they stayed in their cave for three hundred nine

[61:10]years they woke up allah brought them back to life and then

[61:14]they went and they got recognized they hit him back and then

[61:18]what happened is the one he said let me go get my

[61:21]companions and come back so the king and everybody at the time

[61:24]were all mumineen by that time things had changed over three hundred

[61:27]nine years they came with those companions of the cave one of

[61:32]them one of them said to all that was mumineen let me

[61:36]go inside call my friends when he went inside they never came

[61:39]back allah took their lives away whatever he did so the people

[61:44]were surprised what shall we do they were divided into two groups

[61:49]some of them said let's build a monument let's build a monument

[61:55]for them you know a monument others said no let's build masjidah

[62:02]let's take a mosque here let's build a masjid the ones who

[62:12]had the power and the authority read the tafsir of allah as

[62:15]zamaqshari zamaqshari said those believers said let us build a masjid not

[62:27]the kufar but not the kufar the ones who were not believers

[62:32]no the believers said let us build a masjid right there in

[62:36]surat al kahf allah doesn't say all those people did wrong allah

[62:41]did not comment nor did the prophet ever tell us this is

[62:44]wrong so allah is saying that those people those mumineen the muslims

[62:50]built a masjid on top of for them because of their they

[62:54]realized these were holy people noble people so you can visit ehren

[63:00]al bayt alaihi musalam do their ziyarah our imam alaihi musalam always

[63:04]told us go and do our ziyarah come for us we will

[63:08]be there for you we will remember you do the ziyarah one

[63:13]of the said i he used to go to the ziyarah of

[63:17]imam abu luvah every single day every day he said as they

[63:21]opened the doors before they used to close the shrine in a

[63:24]long time long time ago they used to close the shrine he

[63:27]used to go and stand behind as they're doing it they opened

[63:30]the shrine the doors he would rush inside to pray the fadhu

[63:34]subah and at the same time as he's rushing inside he also

[63:37]said assalamu alaikum rasulillah and he said there are thousands of people

[63:41]or hundreds of people who are coming in and giving the salaam

[63:43]at the same time he said so i thought to myself how

[63:47]is the imam responding to those people is he responding to them

[63:52]individually or is he responding like you know one for all so

[63:58]he says to all of them so this start occurred to my

[64:02]mind he said the next day i went to visit and by

[64:08]his mercy he removed the curtain the veils he said i saw

[64:12]imam abu riba sitting on top of the shrine of his wary

[64:16]and he looked at me and he said sayyid we respond to

[64:20]each one of our zuwaar individually we respond to each one individually

[64:29]this is how much we take care of our zuwaar it's not

[64:32]like we take it all in bulk no every za'a imam responds

[64:36]to him so my dear brothers and my dear sisters our imams

[64:40]they take care of us you go to them can we ask

[64:45]them for forgiveness can we ask them to pay to us yes

[64:48]indeed you can ask in worldly matters matters and in heavenly matters

[64:53]in ahkara matters ask them allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says if they

[65:08]come to you you rasulullah seeking forgiveness and asking you to seek

[65:13]forgiveness you rasulullah they will find allah all forgiving all merciful we

[65:19]believe and even the other muslims believe that the status of rasulullah

[65:23]is higher than that of the shaheed allah says about the shaheed

[65:28]that he is alive alive what does it mean alive means he

[65:32]can see he can hear maybe i can see him there's a

[65:37]camera right here and there are maybe other people who are watching

[65:40]right now i can't see them doesn't mean they don't exist they're

[65:44]there i can't see them i can't hear them but they're there

[65:48]doesn't mean they're dead if i don't see rasulullah if i can't

[65:52]hear him doesn't mean that he's dead but allah has put the

[65:56]veil between me and between him and if a true believer comes

[66:01]allah will remove this veil they will see rasulullah they will hear

[66:05]rasulullah even the other muslims they agree when you say salaam to

[66:09]rasulullah you say rasulullah will come back he will actually answer you

[66:14]back even the other muslims but when you tell them so just

[66:17]like he hears my salam he can also hear my dua they

[66:20]say no no no no no this is not found in the

[66:22]hadith use your mind your where is your if he can hear

[66:27]my salam why can't he hear the other things he said because

[66:30]allah carries the salaam to him well just like you know allah

[66:34]says carries my salaam to me he can carry my other conversation

[66:37]he said we don't have a hadith about this you know allah

[66:40]only carries the salaam he does not hear you although yes if

[66:43]we say he is alive if you claim that he the shaheed

[66:46]is alive and rasulullah is higher status than the shaheed than the

[66:51]martyr obviously he's alive obviously he can see you he can hear

[66:55]you when the children of yaqob came to yaqob and they said

[67:00]yaqob did go up for them he prayed for them he didn't

[67:06]set fire for them he didn't tell them go go go you

[67:09]do one istafa you're telling me to do istafa no he did

[67:14]this i will do istafa for you so rasulullah my dear brothers

[67:21]and my dear sisters does hear us he does listen to us

[67:26]he listens to people who invoke upon him people who call him

[67:30]and say you rasulullah pray to allah to help me i have

[67:34]issues i have needs people who are sick millions hundreds of individuals

[67:42]if not millions and thousands they have received their shifa from ahlul

[67:46]bayt hari musalam people who have hajjat they go to ahlul bayt

[67:51]and they have not turned them back they will fulfill their needs

[67:54]for them they will not let you back empty handed because they're

[68:00]generous if you visit a man who is generous a person who

[68:04]is generous he will not let you go back empty handed what

[68:07]about when you visit fountains of generosity how can they let you

[68:13]go back empty handed my dear brothers and my dear sisters the

[68:18]verses in the quran the the logic and the the actions of

[68:25]millions of of all indicate and say that yes you can go

[68:31]visit you can ask them to pray for you you can ask

[68:38]them to do for you intercession in worldly matters and in heavenly

[68:43]matters and they will respond if you have faith in them if

[68:49]you have faith in them responding they will respond to you they

[68:52]will not let you down they will not let you down and

[68:57]similarly my dear brothers and my dear sisters allah has also honored

[69:00]the awliya of allah those people who submit to submit to rasulullah

[69:06]submit to allah allah has honored them and hence we can also

[69:10]visit the awliya of allah those people who gave up everything for

[69:15]the sake of rasulullah and ahlul bayt which is for the pleasure

[69:18]of allah can visit them and one of those individuals is the

[69:28]son of imam hussain he's one of one of those people who

[69:34]declare allah as a master who had utmost submission to rasulullah utmost

[69:40]submission to the imam of his time which is imam hussein who

[69:43]was imam hussein he had utmost submission even though he was his

[69:47]father but he dealt with him as an imam not just as

[69:50]a father when imam hussein was all alone in karbala all alone

[69:57]his companions had just been killed all of them one after the

[70:01]other he stood there saying isn't there anyone to help us isn't

[70:28]there anyone to support us isn't there anyone who's seeking jannah to

[70:34]come and fight before us to defend us at that moment he

[70:40]turns towards his stance and he finds a man who most resembles

[70:45]rasulullah with his characteristics with his manners with his looks and features

[70:55]he is walking out of the tent as he looks at him

[71:00]he is his son aliyyil akbar he approaches his father with all

[71:07]integrity and respect he says oh my father the first one to

[71:17]respond from the family of imam hussein is his son the first

[71:20]one he says oh my father give me the permission to fight

[71:26]he looks at him he starts weeping his tears ago blood on

[71:31]his cheeks this is his son now his own son those of

[71:34]you who have sons you know what he feels may allah protect

[71:38]your children for you inshaallah all those mothers who have sons and

[71:41]children remember of his mother remember of imam hussein think of him

[71:47]how is he feeling as he sees his own son now and

[71:49]he knows he's going to go fight and never come back again

[71:53]he stood there he started crying and he said he hugged him

[71:57]for a while he kept him tied to his chest and then

[72:01]he said he raised his hands he said oh my lord bear

[72:24]witness on those people they have called us to support us and

[72:28]now they have turned against us to fight us and right now

[72:33]a man who most resembles rasulullah with his looks with his manners

[72:42]with his features and characteristics is going to go and fight them

[72:47]oh allah punish them at that moment when ali al akbar he

[72:53]hear these words from imam hussein he realized this is the permission

[72:57]of his father he then carried the sword and he went onto

[73:01]his horse bravely calling reminded of his grandfather amir al mu'amir fighting

[74:04]in the battle of fannin in the battle of sufin in the

[74:09]battle of jamal they started killing a lot of those enemies of

[74:14]allah and imam hussain alaihi salaam is monitoring his son he's waiting

[74:20]for the moment he's waiting for the call until the cry comes

[74:25]one of the enemies comes to ali al akbar from his behind

[74:30]he strikes him on his head it is said that his head

[74:34]he then bent down on the horse then the blood covered the

[74:38]horse's eyes so the horse instead of taking him back to the

[74:41]camp of imam paseyid took him accidentally into the camp of umar

[74:44]ibn asad so everybody started hitting him with their spears and their

[74:49]arrows and their swords then a man came to him and hit

[74:53]him in his chest with a spear at that he said my

[75:36]son i wish i had said o omar ibn szaad may allah

[75:47]make you witness the at that moment he called bani hashem he

[76:58]said yeah bani hashem come and carry and sisters raise your hands

[78:11]for the dua this holy night right now we are the guest

[78:17]of imam hussain ask allah by the book of imam hussain to

[78:23]fulfill your hijat and it will be fulfilled on this night i

[78:26]promise you i guarantee you i want everybody everybody with all the

[78:36]energies and the powers you have to recite together
