[0:18][Music] dear brothers and sisters today is the night of ashura the

[0:37]night before the great battle of karbala takes place so many years

[0:43]ago and this is the night when about saying he told the

[0:49]army that he was fighting against he told them when they wanted

[0:53]to fight on the ninth on that evening he told them to

[0:57]let them take one night for them to pray and then the

[1:01]next night the next day they will fight on the 10th so

[1:04]they agree to this request and this is a night when you

[1:08]look into it more and we look at it with a more

[1:13]deeper scope we can see this is a nice spirituality that was

[1:18]spent by the followers of hussein the ones that were closest to

[1:22]him his family all of these people they spent their their whole

[1:29]night there praying to allah for they knew what would happen on

[1:33]that day they knew what would happen the next day to them

[1:36]and they would spend that night away in spirituality now tonight i

[1:42]want to look into what events took place on the night of

[1:44]ashura and what said what was said between the followers between those

[1:52]that were close to allah he told them that they can leave

[2:09]in that night was he not the person who asked for help

[2:12]on that day of ashura so we will look into this we

[2:17]will look into his speech on that night and what he said

[2:19]to his followers so i'll be reading it here now he starts

[2:25]by glorifying allah he starts i glorify allah with the best glorification

[2:29]and praise him in times of prosperity as well as misfortune o

[2:32]allah praise you that you have like and prophethood to be bestowed

[2:36]in our family he taught us the quran thus making us intellectuals

[2:40]in religion and conferred upon us the faculty of hearing and foresight

[2:44]and an enlightened heart thus entering us among the fold of your

[2:49]grateful servants now then i have not known any companion who are

[2:54]more faithful and developed than you nor have i known any family

[2:59]who was more considerate affectionate favorable and amiable than my family thus

[3:04]may allah reward you well on my behalf and i presume that

[3:06]the enemy will not spare even a single day and i permit

[3:11]all of you to go away freely while i validate this for

[3:14]you so he tells his followers that they are allowed to leave

[3:17]at this very moment and here's the next point is where we

[3:20]should look at what did he say to the followers he says

[3:22]i lift from you the responsibility of the allegiance and the oath

[3:26]which you have swayed at my hands the darkness of the night

[3:32]has enveloped you thus free yourself from the whirlpool the hiding in

[3:35]the waves of darkness and each of you may catch hold of

[3:39]the hand for each of my family members and disperse into the

[3:42]villages and cities until allah bestows relief upon you for these people

[3:46]desire me only and after having laid their hands upon me they

[3:49]shall not pursue anyone else subhanallah this is a very very important

[3:57]speech that we need to look into more what is he saying

[4:01]in these very moments he knows that on the day of that

[4:04]everyone all the men that was that are with him that these

[4:09]will all be martyred so he tells them that i will spare

[4:11]you go in the darkness of night for no one can see

[4:15]you so you cannot be in shame as you walk away he

[5:45]he said may allah have mercy on you you are free from

[5:46]any obligations to me go and strive hard to free your child

[5:51]you are not obliged to me at all so he is he's

[5:54]disconnecting this from himself he's saying you're allowed to leave he's specifically

[5:59]telling him to leave for his son is in jail and he

[6:02]says listen to this next part listen to how these people their

[6:07]souls are not attached to this dunya but they're attached to the

[6:10]ah he says may the wild beasts tear me to pieces alive

[6:14]if i should leave you it's finally this is someone who knows

[6:21]that he has to stay by the last side but he is

[6:26]not someone that will leave when he says this then gave him

[6:29]some clothes and he said you give these clothes to your son

[6:32]so that he may exert himself to free his brother and the

[6:35]valleys of this clothes were a thousand dinars so this is one

[6:39]event that occurred on that night of ashura that we speak about

[6:42]and we have another event that has been foretold and who is

[6:47]this this is two he came out to the tents in the

[6:55]heart of night to examine the pits and the holes which were

[6:56]in the deserts he came out of the tents in this night

[7:00]and now if you have the bella you follow the imam you're

[7:10]moving toward this rebellious army has aroused my fears so the imam

[7:14]responds to him he says i came out to my tent in

[7:18]order to examine the highs and the lows of this desert so

[7:20]as to be able to distinguish the enemy's military strategic position into

[7:27]his hand and what does he say he says verily it is

[7:33]exactly as i have already predicted i swear upon allah the promise

[7:35]cannot be abrogated after this he said are you not going to

[7:40]take advantage of this darkness and pass through these hills into the

[7:43]heart of the night in order to save yourself now he's giving

[7:46]him a chance here he's and then now here's another thing we

[7:51]should another point we should listen to how does he respond he

[7:55]fell to him on his feet and he started kissing them he

[7:58]said may my mother mourn for me my sword is worth a

[8:33]is our chance for life and we know that we'll be killed

[8:35]tomorrow we will be slaughtered many of us will take that chance

[8:40]and we will run away because we do fear for our lives

[8:42]but these are our followers these are the closest companions of abdullah

[8:47]but they do not fear of death but they welcome it so

[8:53]now one must ask what was the reasons in which told his

[8:58]people that they can leave told his followers now let's listen to

[9:02]the points that can be made for why he had said such

[9:05]a speech one of the points could be that the people that

[9:11]were with doubts that doubt in that night those who came to

[9:15]his army for the sake of power for the sake of money

[9:19]for the sake of a high worldly position these might have been

[9:24]people that could be in the army of course as in any

[9:27]army so he lets these people leave if there were to be

[9:30]any he would have allowed them to leave this would be one

[9:32]group which would have been doubtful they would have wanted to leave

[9:35]but they had no opportunity but of course we know that there

[9:38]was no one like that so now we move on to a

[9:42]second reason that he could have said that it would have been

[9:45]those that lacked motivation those that if they stayed and they were

[9:48]there on the day of in those planes that they would cause

[9:53]demotivation from their own people they would be fearful and from what

[9:58]they would say they would cause those other companions to be demotivated

[10:02]to lose their motivation to also be fearful so this is another

[10:06]group but we as we all know like the first point we

[10:11]had no one like god no one left in that minute and

[10:13]it's been narrated in some history books that he entered to zainab's

[10:44]attacks on you says this i swear upon allah i have tested

[10:51]them i observe that they are capable of being steadfast and patient

[10:54]during hard times they are more attracted to death than a newborn

[11:01]is attracted to its mother's milk it's as possum had said on

[11:04]the day of ashura how does he see death he says sweeter

[11:10]than honey these people they are attracted to death this can be

[11:14]seen from the words about it so another reason that we can

[11:19]look at would be to break them from their tribals and their

[11:25]clans their bigotry because as we know the arab people were people

[11:29]that were very oriented to their tribes to their clans when he

[11:33]said this he showed those people that these people are not people

[11:38]that are only here for the sake of being part of their

[11:40]tribe but rather these people are here because they're striving for a

[11:43]cause that are even that's even greater than just their clans that's

[11:46]even greater than just their tribes but it's to protect the person

[11:52]that allah has set to be the ruler to be the caliph

[11:57]upon the people the imam these people only stayed for that reason

[12:02]and we could see as the result of them saying that these

[12:05]were not people that stayed only because they had to but because

[12:09]they wanted to and of course the fourth one we can see

[12:13]would be to inspire the true companions in their determination to raise

[12:16]their spirits themselves if these companions they saw that those others have

[12:21]all stayed with them would they not be even more determined of

[12:24]course they would because they saw that they have stayed even when

[12:28]they had the chance to leave and on the day of ashura

[12:29]they will be able to fight for they had the chance to

[12:32]leave but they stayed in those very moments when they had that

[12:37]opportunity to go so i'm saying we have this narrative he says

[12:41]after all of these reasons he tells them that they can leave

[12:46]what they say now what does he say we have narrated lift

[12:48]your heads to the sky and see for yourselves that says he

[12:52]tells his followers when they looked up they observed their places in

[13:02]and loyalty before showing them their places in heaven seeing and witnessing

[13:05]their place in heaven would have strengthened their wills and make them

[13:10]fight with more determination and more certainty so this was the night

[13:27]for the debate for they knew tomorrow would be the day that

[13:31]they would be slaughtered and now i want to move into my

[14:43]are the sons of muslims his father had already their father had

[14:46]already become shaheed would they not have lost their morals as their

[14:52]father was already martyred here's how they answer listen to this what

[14:55]will the people say they will say that we deserted our master

[14:58]our leader and the sons of our uncles who was the best

[15:03]of uncles that we did not even shoot an arrow alongside him

[15:05]nor did we stab with the spears and strike with the sword

[15:11]with them nor did we do what they did nor did we

[15:13]know what they did nay by allah we will never do such

[15:18]a thing rather we will ransom you with our lives our wealth

[15:20]and our children we will fight by your side until we enter

[15:24]the place you shall enter may allah make life abnormal for us

[15:28]after you're dead these are the hashem that we spoke about and

[15:31]of course these are the ones that are the most closest to

[15:33]them so now let's look at the companions what were their responses

[15:40]to when he said is what he said when he let them

[15:42]leave maybe their companions would have been more inclined but no we

[15:48]see their companions what we have here is muslim assadi he then

[15:52]stands up after the vani hashim said what they said he says

[15:57]if we leave you alone what excuse excuse would we give to

[16:00]allah for not fulfilling your rights on us by allah till i

[16:04]break my spear on their chests i will strike them with my

[16:09]sword as long as it hilts remain on my hand i will

[16:11]not leave you if i have no weapons to fight with them

[16:14]i will throw stones at them at your defense until i die

[16:19]with you it's upon me this is these are the companions these

[16:23]are the ones that are closest to him these are the 72

[16:27]that stay by about the last side and now we have another

[17:01]on your behalf even after that he will stay by his side

[17:08]why should i not do so when it is only a matter

[17:11]of getting killed once then that is an everlasting honor he will

[17:16]do it 70 times for abba abdullah what is once for him

[17:20]these are the people that were there on the day of our

[17:28]shura that were there on the plains of capital so this is

[17:32]how i want to end my night insha allah in this night

[17:37]of ours let us spend it in supplication for we have heard

[17:41]the words of the 72 on that date and not just this

[17:45]there is so much more if we read it to it if

[17:48]we take our time to read into the books of the narrations

[17:50]of what happened that night we can see the people that these

[17:56]people are we can see their character and their morals and we

[17:58]should strive to be like this of course that is our goal

[18:01]at the end of the day to be like those 72 when

[18:06]imam zaman comes may we also be part of his 313.

[18:12]when mom zaman comes and he is ready to fight let us

[18:17]also be like the shaheed of karbala and let us also fight

[18:23]by his side even until our own last breaths [Music] foreign [Music]
