[0:10]audhu billahi min ash-shaytaan-i'r rajeem bismillah ar-rahman ar-rahim I begin in the
[0:19]name of the Almighty God the compassionate the merciful the one who
[0:24]has created everything in utmost perfection and may the peace and blessings
[0:30]of the Almighty God be upon his pure and beloved messenger the
[0:38]peak of his creation the symbol of humanity the holy prophet muhammad
[0:45]sallallahu alayhe wa la ilaha illallah muhammadu ali muhammad and his immaculate
[0:52]progeny of the elevate peace be upon them especially the leader of
[0:56]our time the awaited saviour and imam al-mahdi adjure allahu ta'ala firaga
[1:02]may Allah make us amongst his sincere and dedicated servants and hastened
[1:09]his reappearance the Almighty God states in the Holy Quran SMIL Osman
[1:16]r-rahim voila Tim shieff Allah Redeemer ahan inna calendar canard Whelan tableau
[1:27]and jimana to Allah in this beautiful verse in the Holy Quran
[1:32]the Almighty God advises the arrogant he says do not walk and
[1:37]strut in arrogance don't think that you can split the earth or
[1:45]reach the heights of the mountains in an act of arrogance Sadat
[1:49]Allah al aliy al Azim illuminates your hearts and minds with a
[1:54]very loud Sunnah what it is my great honor and privilege and
[2:06]pleasure to be amongst you this wonderful evening as we continue the
[2:12]second half of the month of ramadhan this is my hometown and
[2:20]I truly feel that I am amongst my family here I look
[2:23]forward to this wonderful experience to learning from my dear brothers and
[2:28]sisters and to have a wonderful second half of Ramadan arrogance is
[2:39]the first act of sin that was committed in history the Almighty
[2:44]God speaks in the Holy Quran in the Bible in Holy Scriptures
[2:50]that Satan was the first to be arrogant the Quran tells us
[2:59]about the creation of Adam when the Quran speaks about these significant
[3:05]events they are lessons for us to reflect so we do not
[3:13]fall into the same trap when God created Adam he commanded the
[3:18]angels and Satan was mingling amongst them he had not revealed his
[3:24]true colors yet he acted pious and holy and he would apparently
[3:29]worship God would God created Adam he commanded the angels and Satan
[3:39]to prostrate to Adam to bow for Adam would be one of
[3:43]God's greatest creations as he would be a human being who would
[3:50]carry the intellect all of them prostrated except Satan he refused why
[3:57]did he refuse it's important to understand why he refused Imam Ali
[4:01]Allah's Salam the successor to the holy prophet sallallahu alayhi wa island
[4:05]he says learn from the experience of the devil from Satan from
[4:11]his act of arrogance one act arrogance caused him to enter a
[4:20]dark path for eternity one act of arrogance Satan after years of
[4:26]worshipping God of course he was showing off he thought now God
[4:30]will give him attention he will get the credit our narrations tell
[4:37]us that he prostrated to God 1 prostration lasted for 4000 years
[4:43]he wanted to impress the angels and even suggest to them that
[4:47]I am better than you 4000 years imagine so now he is
[4:50]expecting God to give him all the attention he's going to get
[4:56]the spotlight suddenly God did something that shocked him God creates a
[5:03]human a blob of clay imagine the Holy Scriptures tell us that
[5:07]God created the human being from clay and modern science has confirmed
[5:11]that clay is the birthplace of all life on Earth suddenly Satan
[5:20]sees that this blob of clay is getting all the attention in
[5:22]the universe and God is commanding the angels to prostrate to that
[5:26]he couldn't take that anymore no I will not prostrate to Adam
[5:31]I should get at the Avera attention not him and this is
[5:34]what caused him to deviate in my mind even he thought about
[5:39]his synopsis learned from this experience this act of arrogance arrogance destroys
[5:45]the human being it consumes the goodness in us in our discussion
[5:50]tonight I would like to shed some light on what arrogance is
[5:58]how to decipher self-confidence from arrogance because oftentimes people mix them up
[6:03]we value high self esteem and self confidence how does that fit
[6:12]with arrogance are they the same are they different then we'll also
[6:17]examine the traits of arrogant people so that we can keep away
[6:21]from these traits number 3 we'll also examine why is it that
[6:26]time's society rewards arrogant people sometimes they do get rewarded they do
[6:32]get their way they might get some power number four how do
[6:38]I deal with an arrogant person let's say I'm stuck with an
[6:41]arrogant friend coworker family member how do I deal with them how
[6:47]do I interact with them in a positive way and finally how
[6:50]do I protect myself from falling into the pit of arrogance so
[6:56]what is arrogance if we want to define arrogance very briefly arrogance
[7:03]is the stable belief that I am superior to other people it's
[7:10]this over exaggeration of self-importance arrogant people have the desire to overpower
[7:20]others and dominate them they have a belief that I am better
[7:25]than other people and they underestimate other people these are features of
[7:30]an arrogant person how do i distinguish arrogance from self-confidence what are
[7:39]the major differences between self-confidence and arrogance we value self-confidence in order
[7:46]to be successful I have to have confidence I need to feel
[7:52]confident and my potential in my capacity but sometimes there is that
[7:58]fine line between arrogance and self-confidence how do i decipher that fine
[8:04]line for one we find that people who have self-confidence they give
[8:14]value to the reality and facts they are self-confident but they have
[8:19]a sense of reality they are realistic they work with facts whereas
[8:24]arrogant people are highly self-opinionated they have their own worldview they are
[8:32]correct and everyone else is wrong that's one major difference between someone
[8:39]who's confident in a positive way and one was arrogant confident people
[8:45]who have positive high esteem they still see the world objectively they
[8:51]work with facts or as arrogant people they live in their own
[8:54]cocoon they see the world from their own lens that's one difference
[9:00]between them the second difference between people who have confidence and those
[9:06]who are arrogant you find that people who have strong self-confidence they
[9:11]are not bothered when others succeed and in fact when others succeed
[9:16]they give them credit because they feel confident about themselves it does
[9:21]not make them insecure if someone else succeeds but arrogance people have
[9:27]difficulty giving credit to others they want to bring down others and
[9:31]they can't handle see others seek successful so there's a major difference
[9:35]between one who is arrogant and one whose self-confidence you can be
[9:39]self-confident and you can be positively proud of the resources God has
[9:47]given you the capacity that he's endowed you with but it does
[9:50]not bother you and others succeed in fact you thank God when
[9:54]others succeed because you realize we are all the creation of God
[10:00]if that person is successful how did they achieve success they use
[10:05]the resources that God gave them right they should be happy this
[10:08]is not something that would bother them so these are two fundamental
[10:13]differences between someone who's arrogant and someone who has positive self-confidence now
[10:21]let's examine some traits of the arrogant people you will find that
[10:28]the first visible feature and trade amongst arrogant people is that they
[10:34]suffer from insecurity and that is why they are arrogant because they
[10:45]want to hide these feelings of insecurity these feelings of inferiority an
[10:52]imam sadiq alayhi salam won the Imams of the annal bait a
[10:57]descendant of the Holy Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and his
[11:00]family he has a beautiful statement in which he says matica bara
[11:04]I hadn't alive in Latin what Jeddah happiness said before modern psychology
[11:12]examined the psychology of an arrogant person this amazing leader fourteen centuries
[11:19]ago said every arrogant person that you will see in society the
[11:24]reason why they're arrogant is because they have this insecurity this humiliation
[11:31]this inferiority in them and they want to hide that through arrogance
[11:35]by projecting dominance and power but at their core they are very
[11:40]insecure they are very weak and instead of becoming arrogant they should
[11:47]address the core problem the reason why they feel insecure why is
[11:51]it that you feel insecure that is to be addressed but to
[11:54]hide that to guys that with arrogance that will not get you
[12:01]anywhere so it's a feeling of insecurity and arrogant people this is
[12:06]how they think let me reject others before they reject me they're
[12:09]always insecure they always have this fear of rejection let me put
[12:12]down others before they put me down let me step on others
[12:17]before they step on me this is their psychology that's one feature
[12:21]that we find amongst arrogant people the second feature that we find
[12:26]amongst the Arab the arrogant people is that when they examine their
[12:32]relationships with others whether it's a friend it's a business partner it's
[12:41]a family member it's a spouse they their priority is to win
[12:45]not to give value to the relationship any opportunity they get to
[12:51]win to score points to advance to personally benefit they will take
[12:58]that opportunity and oftentimes they will sacrifice their relationship with those who
[13:03]are very close to them they don't really value those relationships it's
[13:07]all about winning what's in it for me and that's why my
[13:11]dear brothers and sisters you will find that arrogant people don't have
[13:18]true friends they really don't they don't have true friends and we'll
[13:24]examine why some people befriend error arrogant people but they really don't
[13:29]have true friends because their friends know that this person doesn't really
[13:33]value this relationship they're trying to benefit from this relationship they're trying
[13:38]to flex their muscle and exercise their authority and power it's not
[13:42]a genuine relationship that's the second feature that we find amongst arrogant
[13:48]people the third one generally speaking arrogant people they crave for praise
[13:56]desperately they want other others to excessively praise them when someone talks
[14:01]about them and praises them that's their highlight they thrive on that
[14:06]and if others don't praise them they get disturbed they are bothered
[14:11]I've seen some arrogant people they're willing to sever ties with those
[14:15]who don't regularly praise them once one of the companions of the
[14:23]Prophet Muhammad Sal Allahu alayhi wa Allen his name was a Buddha
[14:26]maybe a few Knights you've heard about the biography of a Buddha
[14:30]he entered in the presence of an arrogant ruler the Calif oath
[14:37]man he was known for his arrogance so once he entered his
[14:41]presence and he saw a sycophant flattering him praising him and Othman
[14:47]was very happy because that's what rulers and tyrants do they surround
[14:53]themselves with sycophants and flatters who say to them what they'd like
[15:01]to hear so Abu Daoud got up he took a handful of
[15:02]dust he approached Othman imagine he was the king the leader the
[15:10]political leader he had all the power this genuine companion of the
[15:15]Prophet he took a handful of dust he came and he poured
[15:19]it on earth man's head he was in fury what are you
[15:22]doing abou that why do you disrespect me like that he's like
[15:26]I am following the instructions of the Prophet Muhammad because I heard
[15:31]him he said whenever you see a tyrant a dictator a ruler
[15:37]anyone they are constantly being praised by sycophants and they don't stop
[15:43]those sycophants go take the dust and pour it on their head
[15:46]he said I'm just obeying the instructions of my prophet now if
[15:49]man he claimed to rule in the name of the Prophet Muhammad
[15:54]but he had corrupted the message of the Prophet so Abu ZAR
[15:57]he stood up with so much courage and he gave him a
[16:02]good lesson that's one feature of arrogant people a fourth feature or
[16:08]trait of arrogant people we find that they are always the center
[16:15]of attention you know what their favourite subject is what is their
[16:21]favourite subject themselves that's their favourite subject and they will use every
[16:25]opportunity every gathering every discussion to turn it about themselves that's how
[16:31]you can identify an arrogant person and if the attention shifts to
[16:38]other people they don't give them their credit they get disturbed they
[16:43]find it boring they expect others for hours to listen to them
[16:48]praising themselves their activities but the minute that we talk about someone
[16:52]else in that gathering no you see them turned off they're not
[16:55]interested in the Gathering anymore that's a fourth feature of arrogant people
[17:00]a fifth feature or trait of arrogant people is that they find
[17:08]it very difficult to ask for forgiveness if they've wronged someone they
[17:12]have set something out of place it's extremely difficult for them to
[17:17]ask for forgiveness because they're arrogant they don't have that humbleness if
[17:22]you see someone my dear brothers and sisters coming to you and
[17:27]asking you to forgive them realize this individual is a great individual
[17:31]this individual has great character this individual is humble is a human
[17:36]being to be respected it's not a sign of weakness aslam and
[17:40]christianity and the world faiths they teach us that seeking forgiveness is
[17:45]not a sign of weakness it's a sign of strength in fact
[17:48]the one who has difficulty in asking for forgiveness is the weak
[17:52]one is the insecure one arrogant people don't like to ask for
[17:55]forgiveness because they think they're always right why should I ask for
[17:59]forgiveness I never violate anyone or if they know that they violated
[18:03]others they don't want to admit it and if you really want
[18:09]to test an arrogant person to see if this person is arrogant
[18:12]or not let's say you want to befriend this person and you're
[18:17]trying to know if this is a good friend good partner for
[18:20]you creatively challenge their worldview if they have a certain way of
[18:26]viewing the world challenge them test them see how they react okay
[18:32]if they just got a little bit ticked off but nothing unusual
[18:35]fine nobody likes to be challenged right except those who really are
[18:40]highly principled but most people don't like to be challenged it's kind
[18:44]of normal but if you see that this person gets frustrated they
[18:50]are enraged when you challenge them then you know you have a
[18:54]significant problem this person is arrogant arrogant people cannot accept the worldview
[19:00]of others the Almighty God and the Holy Quran even though God
[19:04]is the owner of the truth but let's see how he teaches
[19:09]the Prophet Muhammad Sal Allahu Allahu Allah to speak to the people
[19:13]the Prophet Muhammad told those people even the pagans the idol worshippers
[19:17]he told them let's come and have dialogue let's come and speak
[19:21]to one another either us or you are on the right path
[19:26]or the wrong path I could be right I could be wrong
[19:29]you could be right you could be wrong you see the humbleness
[19:31]in the Quran this is a verse in the Holy Quran in
[19:35]which God is saying either were right or you're right let's talk
[19:38]look at the Almighty Allah even though he's the owner of the
[19:41]truth and the pagans were worshipping idols and that's and they corrupted
[19:47]their belief system but the Koran teaches us don't be arrogant don't
[19:53]impose your worldview on others yes you believe that something is right
[19:58]have positive dialogue and what's really amazing about the Almighty God as
[20:03]we are told in the Holy Scriptures and the Holy Quran when
[20:12]Satan refused to obey the command of God what did God do
[20:17]did God say ok that's it I'm not talking to you anymore
[20:21]you're not worthy of even being talked to God has a dialogue
[20:26]with him can you imagine with his own enemy we find passages
[20:29]in the Quran telling us about the conversation Allah subhana WA Ta'ala
[20:33]had with the devil even his own enemy who showed arrogance God
[20:39]says I'll talk to you we can have dialogue we can still
[20:41]speak we can still negotiate and he negotiated with God he told
[20:47]him God keep me till the you know the day of judgment
[20:49]and grant me powers so I can whisper to the people to
[20:54]see if they really believe in you or not God says okay
[20:57]life is a test it's a trial I give you that power
[21:01]tell via fixed day not till the day of judgement till the
[21:05]fixed hour and we believe it's the reappearance of an imam in
[21:08]Manatee and prophet Jesus peace be upon them when they come back
[21:11]God will get rid of Satan and the devil in fact we
[21:17]have in our scriptures that prophet Jesus peace be upon him will
[21:21]be the one to slay the devil and kill Satan when he
[21:27]comes the second time with an imam and Mahalo to Ana firaga
[21:31]these are some pointing features of arrogant people now the question arises
[21:38]is if arrogance is so negative it's so bad it's so repulsive
[21:43]why do we find arrogant people in society having power sometimes they
[21:51]have a large following what explains that you could argue that you
[21:54]know some people in society who are successful politically in the business
[21:59]world but they are very arrogant how do we explain that there
[22:03]is truth to that arrogant people sometimes achieve success through certain mechanisms
[22:11]and means at their disposal psychologists have noted that there is an
[22:19]association between arrogance and anger arrogance people are usually angry and so
[22:25]they are intimidating they intimidate you and through this intimidation they dominate
[22:30]and seek power because a lot of people most people are not
[22:37]confrontational most people in society try to avoid confrontation if there is
[22:43]an arrogant person who is confrontational who is intimidating they try not
[22:48]to confront that arrogant person so they might compromise they might move
[22:53]out of his way and that's one way they achieve success they
[22:56]don't really earn it it's my intimidating others we always find this
[23:00]in companies for instance you have a co-worker you really work hard
[23:09]you deserve that upgrade that raise to go up the ladder in
[23:12]your company but you have another co-worker who's so arrogant who's always
[23:17]intimidating and confrontational and you just don't want headaches you don't want
[23:22]tension so you compromise and he gets his way now you could
[23:24]look at it from the outside and say ok see you got
[23:28]rewarded for your arrogance it pays off to be arrogant because you
[23:31]achieve more power but at what expense at the expense of putting
[23:35]others down their success is not genuine success genuine success is when
[23:43]I achieve something without putting others down when I really earn it
[23:48]but not through intimidation not through dominance it's through intimidation and dominance
[23:53]that a lot of arrogant people get their way and those people
[23:59]who follow them or those people who surround them really they are
[24:04]not surrounding them or following them because they have respect for them
[24:07]arrogant people are not respected but because they have power people are
[24:11]after that power or they are afraid of them they feel intimidated
[24:16]you don't want the wrath of an arrogant person to strike you
[24:21]so you act friendly with that person otherwise as we said arrogant
[24:25]people don't really have true friends people go after their power people
[24:30]go after their influence and they think they are loved by the
[24:36]people they are really successful but yes unfortunately we find that society
[24:39]sometimes rewards arrogant people look at the world today my dear brothers
[24:46]and sisters look at some Kings some presidents right from where I
[24:52]just came from very arrogant and you see a lot of em
[24:55]Americans rewarding the arrogance of Donald Trump right he acts very emir
[25:03]you know very arrogant he puts down other people and you see
[25:07]there are millions of people who actually fuel that because there is
[25:12]embedded racism and a lot of people there is embedded ignorant in
[25:15]order to be a great country and doesn't mean that you act
[25:22]arrogantly a great country is a humble country that carries the spirit
[25:26]of forgiveness that carries the spirit of dialogue respect you respect other
[25:32]nations you don't put down other nations but there are arrogant people
[25:36]ignorant people in society who reward that they will stand before you
[25:40]and they will cheer you but this is the test and the
[25:44]slash my dear brothers and sisters god does try us and part
[25:48]of the trial sometimes God might surround me with people or put
[25:53]me in environments that might encourage my arrogance but God is testing
[25:59]me will I be god-fearing will I be God conscience or I
[26:04]will succumb to my evil desires and act upon my arrogance so
[26:10]to an extent society unfortunately does reward arrogant people but it only
[26:15]does so on a short-term basis you can achieve success on a
[26:18]short term but in the long run once people realize the arrogance
[26:22]in this person in the end no one will stay with that
[26:25]person they will be abandoned even society will abandon them why they
[26:29]realize the damage that they have done now the question is how
[26:36]do we deal with arrogant people there is someone who's arrogant in
[26:42]my life creating problems for me how do I deal with them
[26:45]first of all my dear brothers and sisters if you suffer by
[26:51]living with an arrogant spouse a friend a family member you have
[26:55]to be very honest go to them and tell them that what
[27:00]they're saying what they're doing is hurting you a lot of times
[27:03]arrogant people don't realize that they're hurting others they've internalized their arrogance
[27:11]and superiority so much that they don't realize it I've seen many
[27:15]of them maybe they're not ill-intentioned they don't realize that they're hurting
[27:20]others you have to let them know be very frank and tell
[27:22]them what you're saying is really disturbing me it's hurting us have
[27:26]others approach that person and say it to them if enough people
[27:30]go to them and let them know that will get them to
[27:31]think that maybe I'm doing something wrong maybe I should change the
[27:36]way I address other people if I am demeaning them if I'm
[27:39]rude with them if I don't give them credit it is very
[27:44]helpful to talk about this but usually we keep it inside we
[27:46]bottle up and then it explodes go and talk to them respectfully
[27:50]let them know what that what that what they're saying is not
[27:54]OK ask them respectfully to change their habit their behavior their way
[27:59]of speech number two and this one's really effective sometimes when it
[28:05]comes to certain arrogant people we have to show them some compassion
[28:09]show them compassion you know why arrogant people as we said they
[28:14]have feelings of insecurity if you see that they have a good
[28:20]quality if you see that they have a good trait go to
[28:24]them with compassion admire them tell them look you have this good
[28:29]quality I admire it you can be really a wonderful human being
[28:32]stick to your good qualities you have a lot of good qualities
[28:38]build on those good qualities and you'll be much more successful but
[28:42]as for these negative qualities you need to address them so give
[28:46]them credit when it's due be objective in your criticism that will
[28:50]make them more likely to accept your criticism but if you go
[28:55]and just tell them off you're being very arrogant you attack them
[28:59]they will take it personal well they will never find the opportunity
[29:06]to genuinely work on their faults so give them credit if they
[29:09]really have good qualities let them know that they have these good
[29:12]qualities and let them know that if they change there are other
[29:15]qualities you will praise them you will encourage them once they see
[29:21]that encouragement hopefully that will put them on a better path because
[29:26]we believe that the human being can change his attitude even if
[29:31]I'm selfish even if I'm arrogant even if I deal with anger
[29:36]I need anger management we can change God has given the human
[29:41]being the capacity to change my dear brothers and sisters a booth
[29:46]out the companion of the Prophet was a great example in his
[29:53]youth he used to loot caravans according to certain historical traditions it
[29:58]was someone who was not good for society but he met the
[30:02]Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu Hollywood and through the Prophet he was transformed he
[30:05]became the most decent of the prophets companions you can change even
[30:09]after 40 years you can change it's difficult it requires a sacrifice
[30:16]but we can change arrogant people can learn to become humble but
[30:21]they need our encouragement having said that there is one interesting statement
[30:27]if there is someone who's arrogant and nothing works with them an
[30:35]interesting Arabic expression says being arrogant with the arrogant is an act
[30:42]of worship sometimes certain arrogant people the only way to stop them
[30:46]is not to give them their way stand up to them respectfully
[30:52]with confidence with strength stand up to them and let them know
[30:54]that this can no longer continue you once an imam ja'far as-sadiq
[31:01]re salaam the 6th imam of and elevate he was in the
[31:05]presence of the corrupt a Basset tyrant al-mansour at da1 et al
[31:10]monsoon was he proclaimed himself to be the Calif and the king
[31:16]in Masada and Salam was in his presence one day when a
[31:19]fly came and started to disturb al monsoon you know sometimes when
[31:25]that fly doesn't let go it keeps harassing you it keeps annoying
[31:30]you he really got annoyed he kept squatting in a way but
[31:37]it kept coming back so with frustration he asked an imam sadiq
[31:41]ali saddam why did god create the fly he was frustrated you
[31:47]know what day my man he said I've told him and him
[31:49]aside I've told him God created the fly to humiliate tyrants like
[31:55]you yes sometimes you have to confront them when you have an
[32:00]evil tyrant not caring for the rights of people acting so powerful
[32:05]you have to remind them look you're so weak who do you
[32:10]think you are yes one fly cannon no you look at your
[32:12]origin who are you as the Quran says in this verse and
[32:18]Sola tell Ezra don't walk arrogantly on earth who do you think
[32:27]you are so sometimes they must be confronted but in a positive
[32:30]way not in a way that leads to further attention but arrogant
[32:35]people need to understand that their arrogance will not be rewarded we
[32:41]will take a stance and we will stop it now my dear
[32:42]brothers and sisters how do we protect ourselves from falling into arrogance
[32:48]the first step to protecting ourselves from falling into arrogance is to
[32:54]realize that God has given you self-worth to be successful and to
[33:05]find that worth in your heart you don't need to put down
[33:07]other people God has given you that self-worth and appreciate the self-worth
[33:13]that the Almighty God has given you don't be obsessed with what
[33:19]others think about you if the entire world thinks of me positively
[33:22]because they see my outside appearance but God doesn't because he sees
[33:27]my intention what have I achieved what have I achieved when I
[33:30]depart this life when I placed in my grave on the day
[33:36]of judgment will that help me or is it my relationship with
[33:39]God and how God views me that's what will help me this
[33:44]is something that we have to be reminded of you do have
[33:47]self-worth you don't need to be arrogant in order to find that
[33:52]self-worth and think that you are an important person every human being
[33:56]created by God is an important person because God created you you
[34:00]are the creation of God take pride in being a servant of
[34:07]the Almighty God that's one way to block arrogance from overcoming us
[34:12]the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa ala and one very powerful statement
[34:17]he says the worst sin the greatest sin is an act of
[34:25]arrogance it's the path of the devil and the one who has
[34:27]arrogance and their hearts heaven is not a place for them heaven
[34:32]is a place for those people who are humble those people who
[34:35]have servitude and in fact the Prophet says something very striking the
[34:39]Prophet says the one who's arrogant is essentially trying to compete with
[34:46]God and Kimbrough radar Allah fana - narf is Allah - kibriya
[34:52]imagine this powerful statement when you act arrogant essentially you're trying to
[35:00]state that I am the dominant one and indirectly you are competing
[35:07]with God God is the dominant one God is the one who
[35:10]created us he's they're all powerful arrogant people are actually trying to
[35:14]compete with God and the Prophet Muhammad SAW Allah who are the
[35:20]other states the one who competes with God we know what their
[35:22]end is many people many tyrants have come in history who have
[35:27]tried to challenge God and compete with God but what was their
[35:34]end there was an Omega D Alif his name was and Walid
[35:38]Abby Nia's Eve it was very known for his corruption and unfortunately
[35:43]these caliphs ruined the history of Islam after the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu
[35:47]on Iran this is why we hold on to the Imams of
[35:51]elevate because they came to purify religion from evil hands in every
[35:55]religion there are people who misuse religion for their personal agenda for
[36:00]political gains and welly Davinia's Eid was one of them he was
[36:07]so despotic and highly arrogant one day he opens the Koran and
[36:11]he reads this verse his eyes fall on this verse was Steph
[36:18]- ha ha a cool new Jabbar and I need and they
[36:19]sought the judgment of God another meaning of a stuffed house they
[36:26]opened because he opened the Quran and every arrogant person shall fail
[36:30]the Quran says every arrogant person shall fail he opened this verse
[36:35]he started mocking the Quran imagine he claims to be a Muslim
[36:38]caliph he started mocking the Quran and he said his famous lines
[36:45]of poetry - headed on eBay Jabbar in a needy Faja inada
[36:49]Jabbar on a knee do it imagine tarah back uyama - cipolla
[36:57]Arab moussaka nil Juanito Allah WA he started to address the Quran
[37:02]and he said you threatened me with a tyrant who's going to
[37:06]achieve failure well here I am I am a tyrant over here
[37:11]and I'm arrogant and then he took the Quran and he ripped
[37:16]it he tore it apart and he said would you come and
[37:18]meet your Lord on the day of judgement tell your Lord that
[37:23]and Walid is the one who tore you apart you see how
[37:25]they mocked the Quran you know what happened to his fate he
[37:31]was 37 years old when he did this less than one year
[37:37]later he was killed violently when he went on the Kaaba and
[37:41]Masjid al-haram he got drunk and he started committing acts of immorality
[37:46]people couldn't handle it anymore they revolted against him and they killed
[37:53]him he ruled for one year one year usually those dictators would
[37:57]come and rule for decades but he challenged God and this is
[38:02]what Allah Spano Tana did to him this was his end this
[38:05]was his fate this is something my dear brothers and sisters that
[38:09]we must remember now sometimes we might indirectly challenge God not everyone
[38:18]says this openly I'll share with you another story this happened decades
[38:23]ago in the city of Isfahan there was a wealthy businessman sometimes
[38:33]he would help the poor oftentimes you would reject them one day
[38:37]a poor man came to him he told him I have not
[38:41]eaten food for three days this story is about maybe 150 years
[38:44]ago and the previous century he said for three days I have
[38:49]not eaten food please give me you're very wealthy he said no
[38:52]get out of here this is not the time he said I
[38:55]beg you I'm telling you for three days I've not had food
[39:00]and you're loaded with wealth just give me just a little bit
[39:02]he kept rebuking him and rejecting him and insulting him finally the
[39:08]poor guy he got frustrated he told him look don't be so
[39:11]arrogant God gave you this wealth and if God wants to take
[39:15]your wealth he can take your wealth don't be so arrogant God
[39:18]gave you this wealth as they trust in your hand don't think
[39:24]you really own it you know oftentimes we think we really own
[39:26]our money our property who says you own your money on your
[39:30]property just a few days you use it and then God takes
[39:36]it from you that man became so enraged the businessman the the
[39:41]wealthy guy he got so enraged you know what he said to
[39:45]the poor man he told him look I've got so much money
[39:51]so much wealth God needs to sit and think for six months
[39:54]how to strip me away from my wealth imagine this act of
[40:01]arrogance now we don't say this obviously we believe in the Almighty
[40:04]God and we submit to him but sometimes my dear brothers and
[40:06]sisters in our hearts in certain trials of life we might have
[40:14]a similar attitude never challenge the Almighty God you know what happened
[40:19]to him he told him ok God needs six months we'll see
[40:25]you challenged God let's see the son of this businessman was friends
[40:28]with the son of the Shah of the king of Aswan in
[40:34]that region in Iran he would they were friends so that same
[40:37]day they had gone out on a hunting trip the son of
[40:43]the businessman was trying to shoot a deer when he accidentally shot
[40:47]the son of the king it was an accident it was not
[40:52]intentional they were hunting their news reaches the king that your eldest
[40:57]son the heir to the throne has been killed he was outraged
[41:03]who killed him the son of the top businessman in town the
[41:07]King got so frustrated he made a declaration all people of Isfahan
[41:15]all the property and the wealth and the farmlands of that businessman
[41:19]is for the nation go and take it he makes that declaration
[41:23]that same day people flock to his shops as businesses as farmlands
[41:28]the sheep the cattle the cow that he had was in ours
[41:32]he saw himself standing before his house having nothing except his clothes
[41:39]he was lucky they did not strip him from his clothes even
[41:42]his own house they took it it was a declaration by the
[41:46]king all of his properties for the nation go and loot it
[41:49]go and take it the poor man passed by he looked at
[41:56]him he told him Wow God really did need six months to
[41:58]take all of your wealth is that how you challenge Almighty God
[42:02]we learned from the great prophets of God my beloved brothers and
[42:06]sisters to be humble and humbleness means that we serves one reason
[42:15]why we Muslims have so much respect for prophet Jesus peace be
[42:18]upon him is because he was one of the most humble creations
[42:24]of God it's mentioned in our holy traditions that once he was
[42:31]about to wash the feet of his disciples they refused they said
[42:35]oh spirit of God this is inappropriate you wash our feet we
[42:40]should serve you he said no I am doing this so you
[42:44]learned from me and you be humble with people I am serving
[42:49]you now so that you have the habit of serving others this
[42:52]is why we have so much respect for prophet Jesus peace be
[42:56]upon him never in his life did he display an act of
[43:01]arrogance he was the most humble of the humble and he has
[43:03]a beautiful statement he says have you ever seen a tree or
[43:12]vegetation growing on the peaks of mountains where do you have the
[43:15]best produce in the country and the valleys right I'm not sure
[43:18]here in Canada but in the u.s.
[43:21]we have the biggest Valley in California it's a very long valley
[43:26]it's about 300 miles from north to south and maybe 60 70
[43:28]miles wide most of the food in the US and the vegetables
[43:33]are grown and the fruits are grown in the valley see the
[43:36]valley because it's because it's low-lying it's suitable for crops to grow
[43:41]prophet Jesus peace be upon him says don't you see the plants
[43:46]the most suitable place for them is a valley not the peaks
[43:49]of the mountain have you seen a farmer who goes on the
[43:52]peak of the mountain and he plants a tree there it doesn't
[43:54]grow there an arrogant person acts like he's the peak of the
[44:00]mountain but there's no goodness in him when you become humble and
[44:02]you have that spirit of serving other people serving your brothers and
[44:07]sisters in society then you allow for the wisdom of God to
[44:12]grow in your heart prophet Jesus peace be upon him teaches you
[44:15]want was them wisdom is very valuable it doesn't come for free
[44:18]you have to earn it you want wisdom it doesn't come through
[44:20]arrogance it comes through humbleness just as the plants grow in a
[44:29]valley wisdom grows in a heart that is humble God finds such
[44:32]a heart to be worthy and this is an amazing lesson that
[44:37]we learn from prophet Jesus peace be upon him and all prophets
[44:41]of God Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa ala was the symbol of
[44:45]humbleness with his people in fact some people would not recognize him
[44:53]when they would come to see him they thought he was a
[44:56]king he was ruling he was sitting on a throne on a
[45:00]chair having a fancy set up for himself they could not recognize
[45:03]him sometimes he would be with the destitute and the poor and
[45:08]they would have to ask about him where is this Muhammad who
[45:10]is he and then when they would point to the prophet sallallaahu
[45:14]anyone the person who would ask would be shocked he's like this
[45:19]is what I don't see that he stands out he looks like
[45:22]other people he's serving others just like anyone in society we thought
[45:25]that he would be like a king one day the Prophet Muhammad
[45:32]sallallaahu anyone was lying down and he would rest his head on
[45:35]the ground on the earth just like prophet Jesus would prophet Jesus
[45:39]has a beautiful statement he says my mode of transportation is my
[45:45]two legs I don't have something fancy it's my two legs and
[45:49]my pillow as the rocks of the earth my mattress is not
[45:57]something that's comfortable it's the earth I sleep on the ground my
[46:00]blanket is the Stars it's the sky he says I don't own
[46:05]anything I don't have anything but I am the richest person on
[46:08]earth he is the richest person on earth see that because he's
[46:14]not in need he's not enslaved to this materialism and that's why
[46:18]he's the richest of the rich Prophet Muhammad will also switch also
[46:21]sleep on the ground so one day a man came to see
[46:25]him and he saw the Prophet sleeping on the ground on rocks
[46:29]when the Prophet lifted his blessed cheek he saw that the rocks
[46:35]that course material had affected his cheek so he was shocked he
[46:39]says this is Mohammed this is the leader of his lab he's
[46:42]like I thought he would be like the Ceaser of Rome having
[46:46]a fancy place and ruling the Prophet Muhammad SAW Allah Allahu Allah
[46:50]tells him look God has honored me more than the king of
[46:56]Rome more than the Caesar what is this place this place is
[46:59]a temporary world we enter and then we leave it's just like
[47:05]you traveling in the desert you see a tree you go a
[47:08]few minutes under that tree you seek its shade and then you
[47:11]leave that's life why should I act arrogantly why should I be
[47:16]extravagant and therefore we see the great prophets of God achieved the
[47:21]highest levels of humbleness and through humbleness we can serve one another
[47:29]it is indeed a difficult task to get rid of this arrogance
[47:31]but remember that the first sin that was committed in history was
[47:35]an act of arrogance and it is the trial of the human
[47:41]being to protect himself from arrogance we ask the Almighty God to
[47:46]open our hearts and humble our hearts accepting the guidance of God
[47:52]requires humbleness in the heart we asked the Almighty God to illuminate
[47:55]our hearts to empower us to serve others serving others means serving
[48:04]the Almighty God for the Almighty God in one beautiful statement states
[48:08]that all the creation all people are my dependents the greatest amongst
[48:14]you and the eyes of God are those who help his dependents
[48:18]most those who serve humanity sallallahu aleyhi al Muhammad in Hualien playa
[48:25]being a pyrene [Music]
