[4:46]United States and as we are all witnessing and seeing that we

[4:54]are being bombarded with advertisements you go to your mail you see

[4:59]there's many papers many advertisements you turn on the TV you go

[5:03]to YouTube wherever you go you're seeing advertisements about the elections and

[5:12]if this shows something it shows that the elections here are pushed

[5:20]and motivated by money how much money is spent on elections in

[5:27]the United States in fact since March $2.1 billion dollar have been

[5:33]spent by both parties and this is only with the position of

[5:41]presidency over $2.1 billion have been spent if we look at the

[5:46]other positions Congress and Senate and the other other positions and ballots

[5:50]that are being voted for you see that 10.7 billion is spent

[5:57]in the elections this year $10.7 billion and this is a 19%

[6:02]increase from 2020 so one thing that is very obvious and very

[6:10]clear is that millions of dollars are being poured onto the US

[6:16]elections and studies show that a candidate that is able to raise

[6:23]more money is going to be the one that wins so here

[6:28]it shows you that there is some sort of problem at the

[6:33]end of the day it goes back to money at the end

[6:37]of the day it goes back to the candidate that receives more

[6:41]money from political action committees and in 2010 in 2010 the Supreme

[6:49]Court had a landmark decision and this was what they referred to

[6:54]as Citizens United where for a hundred years the political action committees

[7:01]and the um money there was a limit on how much money

[7:07]you could put into politics there was a limit on how much

[7:09]money you could put towards a campaign in 2010 the Supreme Court

[7:16]they removed that limit and this is why you see now millions

[7:20]and billions of dollars are being poured in to the elections and

[7:24]from both sides for example there was a a lady by the

[7:31]name of Mary adelon she is promising and pledging Trump to give

[7:38]him over $200 million $250 million and her husband when he was

[7:44]alive um during Trump's first presidency he told him I will give

[7:51]you money if you change the capital to Jerusalem from T aib

[7:54]to Jerusalem so you see that there is a lot of money

[8:01]that is involved in the US elections and this this takes out

[8:05]the Democracy where is the real democracy when it all goes back

[8:11]to money when it all goes back to lobbies and when it

[8:13]all goes back to political action committees but regardless I mentioned last

[8:19]week and we remind Muslims that it is our duty as Muslims

[8:27]to have a voice it is our duty as Muslims to speak

[8:31]out and to prove that we are ex that we exist you

[8:33]know we are already being treated as if we don't exist so

[8:37]if we don't vote we're going to add to that at least

[8:39]let us speak our opinion and speak our mind and this doesn't

[8:44]necessarily mean that you vote in the way that they want you

[8:46]to vote you could vote in a way that they don't want

[8:49]you to vote but as long as you vote you show that

[8:53]you exist and you show that you are speaking for your principles

[8:57]and for your values now since it is election season and we've

[9:02]been hearing about who's going to become a leader I wanted to

[9:07]talk about leadership in the Quran how does Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

[9:11]describe leaders in the Quran when you look at the Quran you

[9:18]see the Quran describes good leaders and bad leaders some of the

[9:22]good leaders were prophets of Allah some of the leaders they were

[9:26]um political leaders they were military leaders so Allah sub wa tala

[9:30]talks about Allah talks about tal M these were all leaders some

[9:40]of them were prophets and leaders some of them were military commanders

[9:44]and leaders and others were just leaders like for example and then

[9:49]you also see the Quran sheds light on some leaders that were

[9:53]not good leaders like like ham like Nam like like these were

[10:01]leaders that were not good leaders so let's try to take what

[10:06]are the good qualities and what are the bad qualities that are

[10:09]identified in the Quran because as a Muslim I have to follow

[10:12]the Quran and I have to see what does the Quran Define

[10:17]as a good trait and what does the Quran Define as a

[10:21]bad quality when we look at the negative qualities of a leader

[10:24]what are some of the negative qualities of a leader according to

[10:28]the Quran one of of them Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala from those

[10:35]who are pointed out and very clear and stand out as a

[10:39]bad leader was Pharaoh far has described numerous places and numerous verses

[10:45]in the Quran Allah subhah waala when speaking about Pharaoh Allah says

[10:50]in the Quran Allah says in the Quran indeed Pharaoh exalted himself

[11:13]in the land he was meaning he was exalting himself he was

[11:19]placing himself in the position of a God he was telling people

[11:23]so he was looking down at people and this is one of

[11:29]the qualities of a bad leader a leader is one that thinks

[11:31]that they are above others and they look down at other people

[11:41]one also another quality of a bad leader and you don't see

[11:47]this in the righteous leaders like the prophets of Allah like like

[11:51]a bad leader is one who divides the community and groups of

[11:55]people into factions and this is something you see very clear today

[12:01]oh the people who have this passport the people who are this

[12:03]skin color the people who are from this town the people who

[12:08]are from this country they divide people and they use these measures

[12:11]to divide people and this is something wrong because from an Islamic

[12:15]perspective everyone should be equal in the eyes of Allah subhah wa

[12:23]tala and a group groups of them they elevate and other groups

[12:28]they look down upon other groups they don't have rights other groups

[13:01]bad leader that looks down at his people there are some leaders

[13:16]are suffering the leader is suffering but you see other corrupt leaders

[13:24]they come and they issue Wars or they issue attacks and they're

[13:27]hiding in the bunker and he's he's not not harmed nothing is

[13:30]happening to him but he comes and he wants other people to

[13:34]be killed this is a corrupt leader this is a bad leader

[13:36]because a leader is supposed to be with the people and this

[13:41]is how was you go and you look at the battles of

[13:48]the battles Allah was in the front line he was in front

[13:53]and center in the battle because he's telling people we have to

[13:55]go to fight and he was the one who was fighting he

[14:23]a corrupt leader a bad leader is one that does not follow

[14:33]suits me as long as I remain in power as long as

[20:41]to save them so these are some of the qualities that are

[20:44]pointed out in the Quran of bad leaders that are pointed out

[20:50]in the Quran either Nam orun or or ham Allah describes in

[20:56]the Quran they thought he thought that his wealth is going to

[21:03]make him a leader so when choosing a leader when identifying who

[21:11]is a qualified leader and who is not we have to take

[21:15]some of the measures of the Quran and put them into consideration

[21:19]and measure measure whether this person is qualified to be a leader

[21:23]or not using the Quran as a foundation we ask Allah subhah

[23:58]in a political position and someone who is a real leader that

[24:02]we take as Role Models this is a very important distinction just

[24:06]because someone is in the position of power does this mean that

[24:09]this person is my leader politically leading a government that's fine but

[24:15]especially when it comes to religion and this is a issue that

[24:21]arose immediately after the death of the Prophet when certain individuals came

[24:26]to power they assumed power okay they assumed political power does that

[24:31]make them qualified to be religious leaders the Shia point of view

[24:34]says no just because someone is in power mu was in powered

[24:43]qualified leaders and this is why we see when the when when

[24:49]the Quran talks about leaders especially if it's divine leadership someone who

[25:03]qualifications that need to exist in this person for this person to

[25:07]be a leader that I could take my religion from how about

[25:13]a general leader just any any person who I want to take

[25:16]as a leader the Quran also gives certain qualifications here you find

[25:24]a umah a whole umah will be at peace as long as

[25:27]the leadership is good and if the leadership is corrupted then you

[25:34]see everyone suffers today let's be very honest with ourselves the suffering

[25:39]of the Muslim umah is it only because of outside intervention and

[25:43]foreign policies of other countries and you know Zionism and all of

[26:22]our suffering when you have corrupt leaders corrupt Arab leaders today we

[26:35]but where are the Arab leaders where are the Muslim leaders and

[26:37]this shows you that they're not even qualified to be leaders and

[26:58]going going to be no racism there's going to be no differentiating

[27:37]leader is the one who guides people towards prosperity in this Dunya

[27:41]and in the afterlife they unify people their success is not at

[27:48]the expense of other people so you see that there are some

[27:51]qualities that are identified in the Quran of a good leader from

[27:54]amongst those qualities the first is that the leader has to be

[28:00]someone who is knowledgeable this is one of the first criteria for

[28:04]a leader today you find some of those politicians that are in

[28:08]power they can't even read a paper especially in the Arab world

[28:13]they they take a paper and they're reading it and they can't

[28:16]read it correctly they're they're stumbling and they're mumbling as they are

[28:21]reading one paper and this is something very of and I remember

[28:25]a few years ago George Bush thei he was joking but there's

[28:29]a reality to this joke he was speaking at a commencement speech

[28:34]at one of the universities and he was telling them those of

[28:37]you who graduated with honors those of you who graduated with high

[28:40]grades you will have such and such high positions and those of

[28:43]you who graduated with c's you might be president of the United

[28:48]States so it shows you that sometimes one of the most important

[28:52]one of the most important qualification to look for is the knowledge

[28:57]of a leader why do we come and we say because had

[29:03]the knowledge that other people didn't have that's why we insist on

[29:07]and when it comes to any leader right now you have a

[29:11]leader of a corporation you have a leader of a government you

[29:12]have a leader of whatever it is you want those who make

[29:18]sound decisions and this is why Allah subhana tala says when Allah

[29:26]talks about the prophets Allah says we gave them the wisdom and

[29:29]we gave them the knowledge [Music] about Allah says we gave him

[29:43]knowledge talking about your lord gave you knowledge that's how that's how

[29:52]a leader is differentiated from other people in another verse Allah elevates

[30:06]those who have knowledge and a a honest Society a society that

[30:10]wants Prosperity will put those who have knowledge on top will put

[30:15]those who have knowledge as the decision makers not those who are

[30:18]ignorant not those who have no knowledge he says two have broken

[31:06]is one who considers himself one and with the people and Allah

[31:17]qualified leader this was a verse that used to always recite because

[31:29]he knows that he was the qualified leader but there were others

[32:55]a leader is the one who loves people a lead leader is

[33:12]the mercy of God that made people attracted to you because you

[33:15]have mercy towards people that's why people are attracted to you today

[33:19]when we talk about a scholar in the Arabic language they say

[33:26]what does mean means that this person is tolerant of others their

[33:35]heart is open they're able to accept others that's how you qualify

[33:38]to be a leader if you're going to tell this person you're

[33:40]going to heaven and you're going to hell and you're going to

[33:43]push people away no one's going to want to be around you

[33:47]and the Quran describes a leader as someone who is welcoming of

[33:51]others despite their differences Allah tells Prophet mam Moses he became the

[35:00]quality is that a leader is one who is patient you have

[35:04]to be patient to be a leader and look how Allah talks

[35:12]not only a political leader right now you're a leader in your

[35:15]family you're a leader in your community you're a leader in your

[35:18]organization you're a leader in your business you need to have patience

[35:22]patience is a key to success Allah subhah wa tala tells Allah

[35:34]tells him you have to be patient just like the prophets before

[35:41]you the the great prophets they had to be patient do not

[35:47]be in a rush Allah has a plan everything happens in its

[35:53]own way in another verse Allah says ask Allah to give you

[36:07]the qualities to look at now we know what are the bad

[36:11]qualities that are pointed out in the Quran and what are the

[36:13]good qualities that are pointed out in the Quran and in the

[36:19]world that we live in right now a world a world that

[36:21]has many leaders many stating there are leaders but very few who

[36:28]truly act like leaders very few who are truly able to make

[36:33]a difference very few who are able to stand against the oppression

[36:36]and and the suffering in the world what does this tell us

[36:38]when we see all of these leaders they gather in the conferences

[36:43]and they gather in the United Nations but no none of them

[36:44]can do anything what does that tell us one of the things

[36:50]that it should tell us is that we have to anticipate the

[36:52]real leadership and that is the leadership of the IM of our

[37:45]day our real hope our real Amal our real savior is the

[37:47]IM of our time and this is why we have to not

[37:51]forget that and always do Dua for let us all raise our

[37:58]hands and recite this Dua together oh Allah we turn to you

[38:26]in a government that is K that that gives people dignity that

[38:33]does not separate People based on their class based on their passport

[38:37]that they hold based on the color of their skin where you

[38:43]give and glory to the Muslims and to the the the Islam

[38:49]Today look at all of the Muslim rulers is there is to

[38:51]Islam No they've taken it away and you humiliate hypocrisy and those

[38:58]who are the leaders of hypocrisy and make me and that government

[39:07]be from those who invite people and call people to The Obedience

[39:12]of Allah subhanahu wa and the leaders for your cause and give

[39:22]us dignity in this D and in the this is a beautiful

[39:28]Dua that we should ask Allah for for every day oh Allah
