[0:00]the income earning in the household is the man's Duty not the
[0:06]woman's Duty there's a mixture of Hal and Har together which makes
[0:10]it really hard to figure out where you're at every job is
[0:12]allowed unless there's an exception having the exceptions having ethics and rules
[0:18]and then Allah says by all means do as you [Music] wishum
[0:29]welcome to another episode of Islam for your podcasts and thank you
[0:36]for having me thank you for being with us uh the last
[0:38]episode we talked about uh God the fact that God loves money
[0:43]MH and that led to some confusion amongst people that wow why
[0:47]uh does God love money really in what sense uh can you
[0:54]please elaborate on this matter first before we head into the questions
[0:58]on this episode sure now a lot of people might have misunderstood
[1:03]what we were saying that God loves money God hates poor people
[1:08]now Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he wants the Believers to be hardworking
[1:16]men and women he doesn't want believers who sit at home and
[1:20]do nothing or they expect someone else to pay for them in
[1:25]Islam we don't have such a concept Allah subhah wa tala wants
[1:28]everyone to work so when we say Allah loves money not for
[1:33]himself because Allah is sufficient he gives us money he doesn't need
[1:36]our money but in return when he says I want you to
[1:39]work I want you to earn this is what we're saying Allah
[1:42]loves money because he loves it for his Believers not for himself
[1:46]so maybe that of that caused a bit of confusion and when
[1:51]we say that God hates poor people not the poor people who
[1:54]have no other choice no other means of life because there are
[1:59]millions of around people around around the globe uh maybe you know
[2:04]billions right who don't have any other mean to to earn any
[2:07]income does that mean Allah hates them no we talking about specifically
[2:13]those who have the capacity have the ability live in a country
[2:16]where they can get a job they can earn money they can
[2:19]go into business they can even go online and make a business
[2:22]but rather they just sit at home and say well I have
[2:26]nothing and they do T and Quran to increase their risk Allah
[2:28]says I have nothing to do with you so this has to
[2:32]be like clearly understood when God loves money he loves it for
[2:36]his servants for his Believers even the Quran says say he who
[2:44]for what Allah made beautiful for his servants and we said previously
[2:48]one of the most beauties that Allah created for mankind Is wealth
[2:53]so Allah says I want the Believers to go towards that because
[2:56]obviously they have to use it in the right in the right
[3:00]way so Allah says I love it because I want it from
[3:01]my Believers from my servants thank you for and the same time
[3:05]when he hates it he hates the people that just sit and
[3:07]do nothing so I hope this uh clarifies thank you for your
[3:11]clarification you mentioned about the fact that God loves his Believers to
[3:15]work for earning money yes does that apply to the B as
[3:21]well like you mentioned that some of the imams were working you
[3:25]you had some stories of IM and IM Ali how about IM
[3:33]jaad he was very young when he became an Imam and I
[3:38]have another question which will ask after that question Allah subh says
[3:43]in the Quran and you have an example of the prophet and
[3:49]we said the prophet sallallah Alam up until 40 he was a
[3:55]Tradesman okay he would he would trade and he earned the truthful
[4:04]the trustworthy because of his traits so all the time up until
[4:07]40 he was a hardworking man earning his living alongside his wife
[4:12]lady Khadijah mind you the prophet sallallahu alai married lady Khadijah at
[4:17]the age of 25 lady Khadijah was either 25 or 27 couple
[4:22]of years older than him and she was into business with herself
[4:24]so they were working hand by hand and both of them were
[4:30]making their own earning through business right and that's why then they
[4:34]put that money that they had towards propagating Islam now if the
[4:41]prophet sallam he is the example for us now his offsprings the
[4:44]Imam are the first to apply his Sunnah not me and you
[4:50]so I want to talk about the we mentioned some of the
[4:53]imams and how they had wealth Imad by far in my own
[4:59]understanding is the richest out of all the Imam because it was
[5:03]it said that IM when he goes out in the streets he
[5:06]fills his pocket with gold and silver and he gives it to
[5:11]the poor people or to those who are in need now which
[5:15]begs the question where did IM Jawad have so much gold and
[5:19]silver so that is accumulation of all the inheritance he had from
[5:25]the IM previous imams so we said even the they would give
[5:30]amount their money to Tradesmen to put it to work as we
[5:34]call it today technically speaking called Investments so they put a lot
[5:39]of money Investments under they inherit from their forefathers so by the
[5:45]time was to IM jaad turn even though his father Imam was
[5:49]all the way inasan back in the day and kind of he
[5:54]was under house arrest with the mmon and he couldn't do much
[5:56]but IM jaad Alam had the inheritance of his father and he
[6:02]himself was working for that now yes it's a a little bit
[6:04]blurry into what kind of business was IM jaad into or the
[6:11]previous imams were into because history has hid a lot of the
[6:15]aspects of the lives of the IM but once think for sure
[6:21]that we know they weren't anything but poor they were rich in
[6:24]every aspect so IM J himself like I said the guy used
[6:29]to fill his pockets with golden silver and even we've been told
[6:32]that if you want to have your risk increased ask Allah subhanahu
[6:36]wa ta'ala by the virtues of Imam jaad to increase your risk
[6:42]because he was known for that aspect in his life that he
[6:47]was really rich right so we ask Allah by IM jaad to
[6:49]increase our risk so the end of the day despite the age
[6:54]Gap uh between him and his forefathers in terms of reaching imama
[6:57]at the age of seven or being martyred at the age of
[7:04]25 uh the IM he was working he did not sit thank
[7:06]you uh these aspects of Islam's history were so much unspoken of
[7:15]so we barely know about these aspects of our uh Islamic figures
[7:20]background stories and histories another person that I have a question about
[7:25]is Lady Fatima how about her okay in this regard so this
[7:30]is this is quite interesting see islamically speaking the income earning in
[7:38]the household is the man's Duty not the woman's Duty the man's
[7:43]supposed to go work earn and support his wife and his children
[7:47]that's a duty upon Him by Allah subhanahu wa tala and he
[7:53]must uphold that Duty so all the imams for example they were
[7:57]working earning towards um supporting their family and their wives now with
[8:02]lady is very interesting it's a very controversial issue now the prophet
[8:07]sallallah alai wasam ad doing to the last years of his life
[8:13]uh they want they had a an problem with one of the
[8:20]je Jewish tribes around the Medina and the Jews so they they
[8:24]had two choices they either could go into war with the Muslims
[8:27]or either they pay the jizya which means they give something back
[8:30]in return they either give cash or whatever in terms for them
[8:33]to have this peace between them and the Islamic Nation so the
[8:38]Jews they gave the prophet sallallah alai wasam a piece of land
[8:42]as we call it the land of fedak now the land of
[8:47]fedc was given to the prophet sallallah alai as a gift he
[8:50]didn't take it out of four because if it was out of
[8:53]War it would be a spoil of The Spoils of four as
[8:57]we call and this has to be divided among the Muslims this
[8:59]was was giving specifically for the prophet as a gift right now
[9:05]now the prophet sallallah alaihi wasallam he has 100% share of this
[9:09]land of fedc now what is the land of fedc the land
[9:14]of fedc is a very massive piece of land that had all
[9:16]types of trees and all types of farms agriculture right and it
[9:23]had plenty of workers working in the farm so the land with
[9:26]whatever with whatever is inside it was given to the Prophet sallallahu
[9:30]alaihi wasallam as a gift now that land used to generate a
[9:38]massive amounts of money and guess who takes that money now who
[9:41]the prophet sallallahu alai obviously now the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam what
[9:44]did he do with this not he gave it as a gift
[9:51]to Lady FAA right okay now lady fa having said was working
[9:57]and he was making his own income and he was making a
[10:02]lot of income too at least up to until his so alongside
[10:06]she had a piece of land which was an investment which was
[10:12]which was generating a lot of income for her and her kids
[10:16]so the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam to even that far he did
[10:19]not leave his children without an investment was something we fail at
[10:24]right we die and our children get nothing they be lucky if
[10:31]you can leave them you know uh some extra change or maybe
[10:34]a house the prophet said no I'm going to leave my child
[10:39]something that she can that she can rely on and support her
[10:40]so he left to the land of fedck and that would generate
[10:44]a lot of amounts of money for her now one of the
[10:48]things that the first Khalifa did he took the Lander from her
[10:51]oh and he said well the prophet said we do not inherit
[10:54]so he came up with this with this issue which obviously uh
[10:58]it's a historical and Theological discussion that inshah we leave it for
[11:03]later so that was taken from her one of the reasons that
[11:08]this land was taken from her is because of the amount of
[11:13]money generates now if the at that sensitive time where they were
[11:18]persecuted where the was taken from themir was uh put under house
[11:22]arrest that means if they have this much money happening and coming
[11:27]towards them they can buy a lot of people they can you
[11:29]know have a lot of supporters because now sadly even back in
[11:34]the day and even now a lot of people you have to
[11:35]pay them in order to for them to have you know for
[11:40]them to give their allegiance to you and they understood that the
[11:43]khif understood that the first Khalifa and he confiscated that land I
[11:46]mean surely after hundred and something years later it was returned to
[11:52]them and which is another source of income for all the but
[11:56]it was given to them after 10 and something years later but
[12:00]at least so lady like the of she had a source of
[12:07]income and a very massive source of income not just a small
[12:11]a small um piece of land that generates like I don't know
[12:17]change not it was generating a lot of income so even her
[12:20]she had her own investment thank you very much so far we
[12:26]discussed uh the historical aspects of Islam in in financial terms but
[12:28]now let's focus on the modern civilizations people right now are questioning
[12:35]that yes we want to have money we accepted the fact that
[12:41]God wants us to earn money we have duties as men even
[12:43]women should participate in this U earning money if if they have
[12:49]the opportunity and so many other things but the fact is the
[12:53]the the first question that comes to mind after uh finalizing the
[12:57]Nia the intention that we discussed last episode how can I ensure
[13:04]and be sure that my money is a halot how can I
[13:12]be 100% um aligned with the Islamic principles in earning money well
[13:16]excellent question see back in the day the income Hal and Haram
[13:23]was very clear and the type of businesses that you can go
[13:27]into they were very specific they didn't have much options uh so
[13:33]it was very clearcut to know which job is Haram which job
[13:39]is Hal right now in our time there's a mixture of Halal
[13:42]and Haram together which makes it really hard to figure out where
[13:45]you're at now luckily speaking uh as Muslims Allah subhana wa tala
[13:54]has always laid the grounds and the rules and regulations for us
[13:58]to find out what is har what is Hal now let's put
[14:04]it this way in the first level as we say in Islam
[14:06]so in the first level everything is Mu mu means is allowed
[14:14]right every job is allowed unless there's an exception okay so once
[14:19]there's an exception then you're trying to figure out the exceptions now
[14:23]out of the mercy of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala the exceptions are
[14:27]always few comp comp to what is allowed so for example me
[14:33]and you we allowed to drink thousands of different types of drinks
[14:36]we're only allowed we Allah forbade few things for example alcohol blood
[14:41]and anything that's NES and you have hundreds and thousands of drinks
[14:45]that you can drink when it comes to food Allah says eat
[14:47]whatever you want stay away from pork stay from anything that's not
[14:51]killed in the way of Allah and a few other things so
[14:53]the exceptions are always minimal the same thing when it comes to
[14:58]earning income Allah says everything everything is halal to you except one
[15:03]2 3 4 keep these these ones aside and then you can
[15:05]do whatever you want so again when I want to earn income
[15:09]I have to begin with this mindset that everything is halal to
[15:12]me right so I go Venture and try to figure out what
[15:16]I can do and then once I figure out okay I want
[15:19]to get into this business and then I ask a question is
[15:21]that an exception of Haram or not and especially when in areas
[15:28]where it's the shade is not very clear then obviously you need
[15:31]to do more search that's why for example in Islam there's an
[15:36]emphasis if you want to go into business that you learn the
[15:39]rules of business before you go into business like the Islamic Halal
[15:43]and Haram rules yeah these ones have to be understood before you
[15:48]actually go into business Amir he would go in the markets of
[15:51]kufa uh in the morning and he would tell people learn theam
[15:55]of your business learn the Haram of your business because you could
[15:58]you can do something by assuming it's Hal now we have this
[16:01]problem where a lot of people do Haram or work for companies
[16:08]that are Haram but they think it's Halal for example if you
[16:11]work in a bank and the bank you have to issue loans
[16:16]to people as we call riba interest so you're issuing riba or
[16:19]you could be working in an insurance company and that insurance company
[16:22]for example ures Haram products or you could for example be working
[16:27]in a restaurant that restaurant serves Haram food and so on and
[16:31]so forth so yeah working itself is not a problem but you
[16:33]have to figure out whatever you're in does it do anything Haram
[16:39]that in return might affect my income being Halal and Haram so
[16:42]we begin with the with the fact that everything is halal and
[16:47]then work for the work your way through the exceptions and then
[16:51]you can you can easily manage your way through it can you
[16:55]mention those Haram principles so we can be aware of them so
[17:00]in the Quran there are a few things mentioned in name for
[17:05]example um Allah says he made all that which is which is
[17:11]impure to your Haram for example the selling of alcohol buying selling
[17:21]alcohol going into any business that has alcohol in it that's Haram
[17:25]so go into self drinks go into juice go into whatever products
[17:32]you want that is drinkable that's Halal The Only Exception is what
[17:36]alcohol or anything that might have alcohol which makes that drink Nas
[17:41]so anything that in this regard you avoid it two Allah says
[17:44]pork in the Quran is mentioned so anything that has pork or
[17:52]anything that's slaughtered not in way or anything that sometimes the animals
[17:57]are dead and they sell dead animals uh or they killed and
[17:59]none of Islamic way Allah says this is Haram you want to
[18:03]go into this business of meat for example poultry by all means
[18:06]there are plenty of animals you can buy and sell and you
[18:11]can make a profit out of but stay away from pork dead
[18:14]or non- islamically slaughtered so also again the choices the exceptions are
[18:20]very very less then Allah subh for example he talks about interest
[18:23]riba which is a very sensitive topic which inshah I hope that
[18:28]we dedicate enough time for it because a lot of people uh
[18:32]especially the Muslims in the west they are victim to interest on
[18:35]RBA without them knowing it whether they are getting Insurance of a
[18:39]car of a home whe they are buying home or mortgages or
[18:42]h house loans or even car loans sometimes even mobile phones they
[18:45]get on interest so this this has to be understood that a
[18:49]lot of people get into it they doing something Haram without them
[18:53]realizing so Allah again he forbade riba he said you can do
[18:58]any type of investment but make sure that when you deal with
[19:01]someone is not in the on in the expense of the other
[19:06]party where you demand to have double the return or more than
[19:09]what you give this is what R in will explain in its
[19:14]own time or for example Allah talks about gambling anything that's gambling
[19:20]Elam uh Allah says in in the Quran gambling Allah says this
[19:24]is also Haram so a type basically don't work in a casino
[19:29]you know what I mean don't go to Caso don't play the
[19:33]the games themselves and do not gamble your money into because you're
[19:36]going to be losing it so these are few things that Allah
[19:38]mentioned in the Quran and throughout the Hadith basically the principle is
[19:44]whatever you do as long as it does not constitute cheating lying
[19:50]stealing from people sometimes you could do a normal business I could
[19:56]be a grocery a I could have a grocery shop but I
[19:58]would cheat people I would lie to people I would steal from
[20:02]people I would even like charge them extra Prophet which is also
[20:05]forbidden in Islam there's only certain amount of profit you can make
[20:07]you can't just go make wherever profit because you can and since
[20:12]we're talking about that there's a beautiful story from sad where he
[20:16]gave his money to one of the traders to do business for
[20:18]him he's like the guy said to the Imam I'm going to
[20:21]this country and I'm gonna going for trade theom says here's a
[20:24]portion of my money uh work it you know put it to
[20:30]work get bring me profit of it so the guy goes comes
[20:32]back after a while and he gives the IM like tenfolds his
[20:37]money and the was surprised like how could you make so much
[20:39]profits from this amount of money I gave he said oh we
[20:45]went to this place and there this item was on demand so
[20:48]we hacked up the prices you know and the said to him
[20:53]I don't know the IM curse him like this money is cursed
[20:54]I don't want to touch it you can't do this to people
[20:59]because they're in demand you're not supposed to use that against them
[21:02]to make a lot of profits which a lot of people doing
[21:04]these days you know what I mean so even in Islam when
[21:07]it comes to the amount of profit you can make uh Islam
[21:11]put a limitation on that so when it comes to again when
[21:13]it comes to doing businesses and trying to earn income you have
[21:18]to make sure that you maintain the Islamic morals and ethics in
[21:22]this regard to make sure that your money is halal so like
[21:26]I said the exceptions are very few the exceptions are very now
[21:29]and then you have to maintain your and your ethics Islamic ethics
[21:34]in terms of dealing with people there's a beautiful story where one
[21:38]of the companions of IM Ali Tamar Tamar means the person that
[21:42]sell dates pal dates right so Ali came he sat next to
[21:48]M and M was selling dates and M said to IM Ali
[21:51]could you please stay here for a while I need to go
[21:53]do something and come back quickly could you you know so the
[21:57]says sure sure so the Imam was telling the dates for uh
[22:00]a person came to he said give me some dates so the
[22:05]IM gave him dates the man was trying to hand over the
[22:11]money toirir do not take it from him said place it on
[22:12]the table so the guy plac his money on the table took
[22:16]the DAT and he left a short while later the man comes
[22:21]back to the IM says you dat a sour or they bitter
[22:23]right he's like I don't want them give me my money back
[22:28]and then I said him Tak your money for your money is
[22:30]Haram you know our days are not sour your money is Haram
[22:36]you earned your money from a Haram source so the idea is
[22:38]you can sell whatever you want but as long as you maintain
[22:43]the Islamic ethics and the Islamic ruling in regards to selling and
[22:47]buying so having the exceptions having ethics and rules and then Allah
[22:53]says by all means do as you wish I'm citing your own
[22:59]words I'm sorry um as you mentioned back in the day it
[23:02]was very easy and simple to understand the difference between Haram and
[23:10]Halal income but today there's a fine line between uh what Halal
[23:15]and Haram is with so many different options online um sources of
[23:23]income yes things that we don't know about like uh the new
[23:27]uh pyramid scheme that we see yeah even there are doubts about
[23:35]cryptocurrencies so many other online businesses that offer you money but we
[23:38]don't know about the people behind them we don't know about the
[23:41]and and the the the other thing is that with the growth
[23:47]that we had in production and in manufacturing different products and companies
[23:55]being under one umbrella of another bigger company these are things that
[24:01]making it very difficult for us to understand whether our income is
[24:06]halal or Haram and I have so many other questions regarding investment
[24:10]itself because there's all there's always this fine line between investment and
[24:18]reel what should I do to to become an investor and what
[24:24]should I avoid to not put rabar in my income mhm so
[24:31]so first let's talk about this modern situation situation this life that
[24:36]we have and this fin line that we talked about yeah and
[24:39]then we'll go to explore the different aspects of investment all right
[24:43]so when it comes to the thin line that you mentioned we
[24:49]have to keep something into in our minds at all times that
[24:53]there are two paths they go side by side but each lead
[24:59]to a different destination there's the path of Allah subhah wa ta'ala
[25:02]and the path of Shan and Shan's job is to try to
[25:11]make sure that you earn as much Haram as possible because we
[25:14]have the concept of eating Haram food that would have an effect
[25:17]on your spirituality would have effect on your heart would have effect
[25:21]on your morality ifan could manage to get you into something Haram
[25:28]he succeeds right soan always always tries to mask that which is
[25:34]Haram with something Hal so that's why so when with Islam we
[25:38]say ignorance is not a bliss right so because sometimes people says
[25:44]I wish I didn't know this no Islam says no ignorance is
[25:47]not a bliss so we said first first of all if you
[25:51]want to venture into anything the first thing you should ask yourself
[25:55]is what am I dealing with here so for example let me
[26:00]give you an example so okay like you mentioned the perid schemes
[26:03]per schemes like 99.9 of them are Haram because they are designed
[26:13]to like one person that steals from another person and and you
[26:16]you force them to see from someone else and there's no return
[26:19]in it there's no goal in it there's no product in it
[26:22]even though they might have a product they're trying to sell right
[26:25]so most of these permit schemes are actually har because the the
[26:29]foundation itself is wrong it's not like you're taking a product and
[26:34]you're selling it you make a profit someone says you know what
[26:36]uh here's a product that if you sell it you'll make a
[26:40]lot of money um and what you need to do is you
[26:41]need to sell this product the same product I'm giving you you
[26:44]need to sell to 50 people and each one sells it you
[26:46]get an income and you say okay sure how do I do
[26:49]what do how do I start he like oh give me $1,000
[26:51]and then you can go on your way so this is like
[26:56]literally stealing from me by just giving you something that's not going
[26:59]to work so I have to ask myself the question so if
[27:02]I want to go into a permit scheme who's behind this permit
[27:06]scheme what is it selling what is what is the outcome of
[27:08]this permid scheme obviously I'm not going to call it a scheme
[27:12]because I don't know so I have to ask the questions first
[27:14]to to clarify for for myself or for example uh I'm a
[27:18]programmer right I write codes for a company for applications now if
[27:25]a a company wants to hire me and to do a program
[27:28]for them to write a code for them or do a website
[27:31]for them what is that site of this program is going to
[27:36]be used for is it going to use be used be used
[27:37]for let's say something Haram say someone wants to have pornography website
[27:42]you're going to design that site for them or an app that
[27:47]for example has music and has stuff that Haram or for example
[27:49]you design design an app for to sell alcohol so you have
[27:54]to ask yourself okay sure I will do this job for you
[27:58]but what's what is it going to be used for so these
[28:00]questions you have to ask yourself is it does that business that
[28:03]I'm going to go to does it align with Allah's line or
[28:08]does it align with Shan line is this one of these things
[28:13]where Shan trying to convince me that because what Shan does Shan
[28:16]is very smart mind you he doesn't come he doesn't come to
[28:18]you and says to you well this is Haram don't do it
[28:23]right the problem that I have I'm sorry to interrupt you is
[28:30]that to be frank okay this sounds nice on the paper but
[28:32]that doesn't work in the real life because the the things that
[28:38]we have in the real life are far more too complicated than
[28:40]what you're saying MH like I know that I won't design a
[28:43]website that is going to sell alcohol on it or other stuff
[28:50]that you mentioned I every day come across different projects uh businesses
[28:55]like every day you see like affiliate marketing Drop Shipping this and
[29:01]that investment like every day you see like even the world of
[29:05]cryptocurrencies you see that someone says that you have to just give
[29:10]me your money I will give you uh some part of share
[29:12]if you just give me your cryptos so I can use them
[29:18]as a fundamental of the chain so I'll call it staking okay
[29:21]so I'm not using I'm not uh seeing any Shayan in it
[29:28]to be honest yeah um I don't know if it's rabar or
[29:32]investment and the the idea is being sold to me as as
[29:38]as a as a part of a chain like I'm I'm I'm
[29:43]being part of the process so I'm contributing to something and I'm
[29:47]getting my share in return yeah so those things that you mention
[29:53]are far too simple and they sound nice on paper but the
[29:56]real dilemas and problems that we have in the world are far
[30:00]more too complicated than what you're saying so give us a checklist
[30:04]like I understand what you're saying but give us a proper procedure
[30:07]of how to deal with this instead of just um you know
[30:14]getting rid of the obvious options out of the the choices that
[30:18]we have yeah and then focus on what real things are being
[30:23]offered to us all right so one thing comes to mind you
[30:24]know we have the saying that if something if something is good
[30:29]to be true then it is good to be true right then
[30:31]it can be true see the like I said the the way
[30:36]shatan works he tried to glorify and glitterfy if I can use
[30:41]that word things for you to make it more glittery more juicy
[30:45]that you cannot refuse and he mask this very well now to
[30:48]make things more simple like I said we have the exceptions stay
[30:55]away from the exceptions one two which is more important if it's
[30:58]it should be number one is that you should learn your Islamic
[31:05]rules and regulations so the idea happens we fall into RBA interest
[31:10]we fall into Haram businesses is because we don't understand the right
[31:17]from wrong Halal from Haram if you don't understand your Islamic rules
[31:21]then obviously you're going to do something Haram give you example um
[31:25]a while back a week I go less more I was speaking
[31:32]to this friend of mine he he does loans for people right
[31:34]so someone do something did something wrong with him right legally done
[31:38]something wrong now this brother uh that that issues loans he had
[31:45]the he has the opportunity to find these people who done wrong
[31:49]to him and take money from them but he didn't right so
[31:54]I said to him why didn't you legally you have the right
[31:57]to to take money from them and he said to me he's
[32:01]like I could not justify it for myself when I could just
[32:04]end this case without having to take money of them if I
[32:06]was forced by the law to take money from them that would
[32:10]have been a different story but I had a choice I could
[32:11]cancel the the whole application and I I don't have to charge
[32:17]them anything or I could pretend that no I'm forc take money
[32:22]and that would be form of stealing so this man he knew
[32:25]his ethics and his rules and regulations in this regard so unless
[32:31]you have the prior knowledge of going into a business you're going
[32:34]to have a lot of issues so what clarifies things for you
[32:37]in terms of doing business is how much information you learn prior
[32:43]to that and that's why I said the they focus so much
[32:46]on first understanding the rules of business before going into business and
[32:52]then becomes clear for you can you provide us with any references
[32:57]so we can go and explore and learn learn about that again
[33:00]when you ask me about references you should ask me before you
[33:03]bring me to the studio just like a source I mean a
[33:07]source that I can go to read it and and learn about
[33:12]whatam teaches me about I'm going to give you like an easy
[33:14]way an easy way see uh we have a book that's called
[33:20]the Islamic rulings we call it so we have a book of
[33:26]rules Islamic rules called Islamic rules every scholar that we have or
[33:30]every Mar that we have or even if you go to different
[33:34]sects in Islam they had this Book of Rules of we refer
[33:37]to as Juris Prudence is in two parts right one part we
[33:43]call I which is worship acts how to pray how to fast
[33:47]how to pay your homes how to pay zaka Jihad are marriages
[33:52]nikah and all that these things is classified and cleared in the
[33:57]books of I worship to to Allah then they have another chapter
[34:05]or another book beside the we call traits in this book of
[34:11]traits you have every law that you can think of is stated
[34:14]in these books what they tell you first what is Haram to
[34:20]trade what is Haram to sell what is Haram to buy is
[34:24]it going to be different by any one me to another 99.9%
[34:27]is the same they might differ on small uh pieces of information
[34:37]due to the fact they are recent and there is no of
[34:39]qur to back then that's what the M comes and he gives
[34:43]his own opinion and Industry God it says I think this is
[34:45]Haram one of the things for example to give you an example
[34:48]of this is a cryptocurrency some of the mar they said we
[34:51]don't have a say in this because we don't know either the
[34:56]lack of their understanding of how crypto currency itself works and who's
[35:00]behind it it's like it really doesn't make sense to us because
[35:03]I've read a lot of Scholars uh fatwa in this regard they
[35:09]said we clearly have no idea how this thing works and clearly
[35:11]no one does either because no one knows who's behind it no
[35:14]one knows how this work is it you know stable not stable
[35:18]is it a bank is not a bank no one knows so
[35:21]some of the mar some of the SCH they put a stop
[35:24]on they said we don't know go to someone who knows some
[35:26]said no this is Haram because you're dealing with non-existent currency so
[35:32]it's Haram some no so then again depends on who you follow
[35:38]but these are with the m as we call them the questions
[35:40]and the Affairs that are much more recent right so they might
[35:45]the and the schulls might differ but in everything else they always
[35:50]the same they will give you like m one issue one issue
[35:52]two issue 100 so if you want to know exactly what's Halal
[35:56]what's Haram how to do this this is your preference go to
[35:59]the traits of any scholar aren't those books too complicated for normal
[36:07]guy like me to actually actually the idea the idea of these
[36:10]books were is that they were simplified for the common people like
[36:13]me and you to read that's the idea so the what the
[36:18]scholars would do they would go to the Quran they would go
[36:19]to the narrations of the Prophet sallallahu alai and the narrations of
[36:23]the IMs and they would extract from an entire Hadith they would
[36:31]extract a ruling they say to you for example riba is one
[36:34]2 three they first explain to you what RBA is how riba
[36:37]Works they give you all this information and they tell you okay
[36:40]if you do one this is riba if you do two this
[36:44]is RBA and what's beautiful sometimes that these Scholars a lot of
[36:47]people ask them questions that they go through in their daily life
[36:52]but I work in the bank and I do this and this
[36:56]is my work Haram I work in a restaurant I have to
[36:57]deal with in plates that are alcoholic they were used for alcohol
[37:03]or I work in a restaurant where there's uh pigs being consumed
[37:06]and served is itam for me even the Mara and their websites
[37:10]they have these questions and they have given answers to so if
[37:16]you want any reference that's comprehensive in Islamic La regarding traits then
[37:23]that's your Source pick a merer go to his website download his
[37:28]PDF m the questions that he has to present and then you
[37:31]find everything there if you also not sure for example you want
[37:36]to get into something and you know right like you said the
[37:41]beginning it's it's really hard these days it's as simple as sending
[37:43]a question on a website sending an query say look I want
[37:46]to go into this business a permit scheme it works like 1
[37:50]two 3 4 is it Hal Oram and you get an answer
[37:53]the same day sometimes a lot of this Mar they would have
[37:56]like a WhatsApp account where they rep you within an hour so
[38:01]things are also very simple in terms of trying to get the
[38:04]Islamic rulings regarding so the the reference for people is already ready
[38:09]for everyone to read that's why I'm saying so the first step
[38:15]is to read it read this m read this uh references and
[38:17]see thank you in the beginning you mentioned that uh there are
[38:23]a few exceptions that slum presents in order to to bring up
[38:29]the con concept of Haram income yeah but now as we grew
[38:35]into this discussion you added more aspects like uh if I am
[38:39]involved in a business that is operating in Haram uh world if
[38:44]I am lying if I am doing this so my own characteristic
[38:52]my own behavior some Islamic principles against Haram income and some other
[38:57]features and unknown uh unclarities yeah within this yeah so to be
[39:06]honest how I feel right now compared to the beginning of this
[39:09]show is that wow I might be in trouble I might be
[39:14]involved in something that I didn't know you even mentioned about the
[39:17]fact that when Muslims are victims to the mortgages and and yeah
[39:26]uh Insurance loans and everything yeah so basically despite the fact that
[39:31]you claim the there are few things exceptions uh that are going
[39:35]to be against Halal I right at the moment think that oh
[39:39]my God I might be in it yeah in every aspect of
[39:45]my life which is quite bizarre yeah so how can I first
[39:50]uh tell me if I'm thinking correctly towards this or not second
[39:56]how should I get rid of this feeling third word am I
[40:00]uh how can I clarify this sense so I might not step
[40:07]foot in into another Haram income anymore okay so let me clarify
[40:12]the three questions in one now we said that are business yeah
[40:19]everything is halal unless as we say unless that was exempt with
[40:27]an evidence from the Quran or the Hadith says the Quran says
[40:31]pork is Haram I can't go into that he the Quran says
[40:33]gambling is Haram I can't go into that he says alcohol is
[40:37]Haram I can't go into that so that which I have an
[40:40]evidence for I leave it aside everything else becomes Hal so like
[40:43]we said so first the the area where we have we can
[40:49]move into making income is very vast is very big okay now
[40:52]you have to remember two things so you said well now things
[40:58]got more complicated now as Believers me and you we required regardless
[41:02]of business or not we have what we call morals and ethics
[41:05]and and the prophet sallam when he came he made one statement
[41:11]he says I was sent to perfect morality because Arabs back in
[41:18]the day they used to deal business but not the fact that
[41:21]the business whether it's Halal Oram the business could be Halal could
[41:26]be 100% Halal the problem is the conduct in that business and
[41:29]I gave you an example for example I can sell Tomatoes tomatoes
[41:34]are Hal but if I cheat people you know like what they
[41:36]do and and some countries they still do this is that you
[41:39]go to the shop they won't allow you to select your own
[41:41]Tomatoes you have to tell them look give me a killo of
[41:44]Toma he has to give it to you so what he would
[41:46]do he would keep the nice beautiful tomato on the outside right
[41:49]as a a show and under he has all the bad tomatoes
[41:53]so what he would do is he fill a bag with the
[41:56]bad ones and he put fewu on top on on that you
[41:58]don't say and he sells it to you now that's cheating now
[42:01]cheating in every sense of the word in every trade whether for
[42:05]business or not business I'm not supposed to cheat you cheating is
[42:10]Haram so this is a moral concept not a business concept so
[42:13]when you go into business you have to go with your you
[42:16]have to go with your morals you have to go with your
[42:18]ethics you don't go like like a vicious man like with businesses
[42:21]these days these these days when people go into business they go
[42:26]with this with this evil n with this evil self that they
[42:29]have which they try to take as much as they can in
[42:32]any way they can it doesn't matter so for example you know
[42:34]they they they they said this that the iPhone 14 pro Max
[42:40]or i iPhone Pro i iPhone 14 you know how much it
[42:46]cost to make $10 10 they were selling it for $1,500 up
[42:52]to 2,000 depending on how many gigs you have now that's that's
[42:58]just beyond like you're literally starving Humanity because you're putting pressure on
[43:02]a lot of people to be slaves to create this iPhone and
[43:04]it costs you only $10 but look how much you're getting out
[43:09]of it now obviously those who sell these products they have no
[43:13]ethics all morals whatsoever so Allah says everything is halal to you
[43:17]but when you come to it come with your come with your
[43:21]moldes come with your ethics so this not putting restriction and limitation
[43:25]on the product that you're selling this has to do with you
[43:28]as a person to come with the humanity into it so when
[43:32]the when the prophet they used to make sure that when people
[43:35]deal with with people they have to be very fair so Allah
[43:39]in the Quran when he talks about some of the prophets one
[43:42]of the issues that Allah even send the prophets too is because
[43:45]they for example I think if I not mistaken Prophet Allah sent
[43:52]him because people used to tr they used to they used to
[43:58]um play with the with the scales M right so instead of
[43:59]putting giving you a kilo they give you much less and you
[44:04]think it's a kilo so the Allah sent a whole Prophet to
[44:05]correct this moral value not the business value what they were selling
[44:10]was Hal but the way they were dealing it is Haram so
[44:15]in everything Hal that we do I can do something Haram give
[44:16]you example your Salah Salah is you have to do it but
[44:22]Mas could be Haram if I starty to show off right I
[44:26]can turn something Hal into something Haram I can do which is
[44:31]but becomes Haram if I try to show off or I try
[44:34]to do on people trying to say oh yeah I done this
[44:37]for you I gave you this Allah says then I have no
[44:39]need for that so the idea is that we should not uh
[44:44]mix the ands and ethics with rules and principles regarding the business
[44:49]so these are two different things different things so a business is
[44:53]Hal you can do whatever you want for example you can be
[44:56]a farmer you can sell whatever fuit you want want you can
[44:58]sell whatever vegetables you want you can sell to anyone but you
[45:04]have to maintain your what Your ethics your and your morals these
[45:07]are compulsory the same that you have to maintain in your house
[45:10]with people it has to be also maintained in business as well
[45:16]so I shouldn't have had them mixed in my mind so these
[45:19]are two separate things SE and I should be following the ethical
[45:24]rules in every aspect of my life regardless of whether business or
[45:27]no bus business yeah and for the business itself there are some
[45:30]regulations which are very few very few and I have to read
[45:35]them understand them and apply them in my life Yeah so basically
[45:37]if I can simplify these rules for you for example do not
[45:41]go into anything Haram that God made Haram which is very obvious
[45:44]right do not charge people extra extra profit more than what what
[45:48]you should be should be doing maintain your that's it thank you
[45:52]whatever you want thank you very much it was another episode of
[45:59]Islam for's podcast and in the topic of Islamic finances there are
[46:03]a lot more to discuss of course I have a lot more
[46:08]to ask you uh so many good questions were answered today by
[46:10]you thank you very much I hope that the viewers had also
[46:15]had their questions answered and this episode has given them an Insight
[46:18]also yeah also if they have questions they can also ask us
[46:20]yeah they can ask us the question because we want to make
[46:23]it this more relatable to people than anything else so if they
[46:27]have any questions they can always is Sho it in and and
[46:32]we're going to have more modern situation questions ask from you for
[46:36]the next episode yeah we have to deal with the what people
[46:40]actually going through yes once again thank you see you soon inshah
[46:44]in goodbye thank you for having me thank you
