[37:51]the topic of alabas the bearer of prophetic virtues on behalf of
[37:56]the jamaat we'd like to extend our thanks thanks and appreciation for
[38:00]helping us to learn from and connect with the MBA of the
[38:03]family of ab abdah with a focus on the personality of Abul
[38:07]F Abbas we pray that your efforts are accepted and rewarded by
[38:10]the holy lady am mean M as we call say up up
[38:14]to the member to deliver his lecture for this evening please join
[38:17]me in expressing our appreciation with a recitation of three loud salawat
[38:22]Muhammad Muhammad Al f alhamdulillah m [Music] subh muham may Allah subhana
[40:30]wa ta'ala accept our haat our duas the first and foremost is
[40:36]for the and the second being that as long as we live
[40:45]every year may Allah bless us with the opportunity of the visitation
[40:49]of the Zara of Theus and if this is to be the
[40:59]last year of Our Lives then may Allah bless us with the
[41:03]ofd Hussein my last uh mjus of the three series of majalis
[41:16]lectures addressing or trying to shed some light on this personality who
[41:22]within himself is a giant of a personality ab and in the
[41:32]past two nights I tried to shed light at some new angles
[41:36]from the historical sources that we have in regards to the holy
[41:41]personality of this great Shak who without a doubt makes the second
[41:44]most important of the personalities inala after abdah husam amongst the men
[41:51]and tonight I want to end inshallah with discussing those prophetic virtues
[42:00]that existed within ab and the words of one of the who
[42:09]says that if there had been 13 imams there's no doubt that
[42:14]ABA Abdullah AB abam would have been an IM because all of
[42:19]the qualities that were contained within can be found within AB abat
[42:28]and so a man who contains qualities of an IM or naturally
[42:36]will contain the qualities ofia the first and foremost his and in
[42:46]the words of the Z of when you say when you stand
[42:53]in front of theam of and you say m say I bear
[43:04]witness I give witness that you occupied a rank in T andas
[43:09]and submission to Allah subhana wa tala in other words your submission
[43:15]is not like the submission of you and I like the Muslim
[43:19]when we say that's a very superficial level of T AB occupies
[43:24]a rank of Tas that the sixth IM says that I bear
[43:31]witness oh ab ab that you occupy a rank and that is
[43:35]a special Rank and connect this with the Hadith of the fourth
[43:38]Imam who says that indeed our uncle Abbas has a has a
[43:46]with Allah subhana wa tala that on the day of judgment other
[43:49]sh other and will have an Envy towards the Mak of ab
[43:56]Abbas who is this Shahid for if Hussein is is he is
[44:05]a greatest of the sh if Hussein is the chief of the
[44:11]sh and so abam occupies a rank of Tas when you complete
[44:20]submission one cannot be a Muslim without submission as says the beginning
[44:29]Dean begins with the of Allah subhana tala and the peak of
[44:41]of recognition is the submission towards Allah subhana tal one cannot occupy
[44:48]anything within Islam if one does not have a Tas towards Allah
[44:51]tala but you yet the T of abas is different Imam Hussein
[45:03]has he says I am RI satisfied with your with your command
[45:13]oh Allah whatever comes from you whatever difficulty whatever I Hussein am
[45:20]in the of Allah but you know what differentiates abas it as
[45:31]Hussein wasi with the of Allah Abbas wasi with the of Hussein
[45:39]Ali Give an example second of muharam when they enter Gala the
[45:49]Caravan of Imam Hussein on the second enters carala the 10 raised
[46:00]Dismount from their animals they sit their camel by theat the tents
[46:08]are raised everyone takes position letter comes from IB zad to stop
[46:15]them in a or where there is no Greenery where there is
[46:26]no water they say these tents must be removed from here so
[46:30]the tents were not where they were after the tents were at
[46:32]the fat so there is easy access to water so remember the
[46:37]blocking of the water was not something that was last minute plan
[46:40]sth of muharam let's block no it was in the plan that
[46:45]b were to be thirsty otherwise why would they say remove the
[46:51]tents so they came and said these tents have to be removed
[46:53]where on the other end in the desert in the dry land
[46:58]you know that moment if AB Abbas had fought it would have
[47:03]been much easier he would have defeated them easily because at that
[47:06]time not everyone had reached karbala yet they came slowly third muharam
[47:10]fifth muharam 8th muharam 9th muharam soldiers came and more soldiers came
[47:16]and more soldiers came and more soldiers came to fight for Abbas
[47:24]then was much easier there was no need so when the letter
[47:28]comes on the third of muharam they remove Abbas who was waiting
[47:36]for this day you remember says to go find someone that I
[47:39]have a brave son Abbas was in the plan of Al and
[47:44]Abbas knew what day he's being raised for and so today was
[47:50]the opportunity yeah M let me go and fight them now third
[47:52]of muharam is far less we're not hungry we're not thirsty then
[47:56]there's far less of them far fewer in number than there will
[48:00]be on the 9th of muharam and Imam Hussein says no we
[48:06]will not be the first ones to fight remove the tents and
[48:09]let's go the other end Abbas does what complete submission to AB
[48:16]abdah third of mam 7eventh of muharam when now the water is
[48:28]blocked not that it wasn't blocked before it was blocked the whole
[48:33]point of moving them away from the forat was that they don't
[48:36]go to the forat you know the historians say the water was
[48:40]blocked on the sth of muharam but it's how you read history
[48:44]because if you flip it it's not that the water was blocked
[48:48]on the sth of muharam the supply rather the water that remained
[48:54]in the camps of ABA Abdullah finished on the 7th of muharam
[48:58]so whatever water they had left with whatever they were surviving on
[49:04]finishes on the seventh and now when they try to get it
[49:06]they don't let them so the block was way before and so
[49:11]the historians the narrator says that the water was blocked on the
[49:14]seventh but in reality the water was always in the plan the
[49:19]blockage of water was always in and it's clear from the letters
[49:21]that came through and you can you can refer to the makat
[49:27]for that but the Ravi says that the water was blocked on
[49:29]the seventh why because that's when the water finishes and they come
[49:32]out to try to go and get water even then Abbas who's
[49:41]itching to go and show them who he is Imam say no
[49:46]we will not fight not for water I will not go down
[49:50]in history as the first one to shoot an arrow shab as
[49:59]the night of ashur Shimmer comes out tries to deceive AB Abbas
[50:09]oh Abbas we have a link in tribe come and talk to
[50:16]me AB Abbas ignores him he calls him again oh sons of
[50:24]come out I want to speak with you Abbas ignores him Imam
[50:31]Hussein hears it Imam says to him oh brother Abbas reply to
[50:34]him even if he's a f go and see what he has
[50:41]to say Abbas doesn't even want to see his face my MAA
[50:47]my master Hussein says it fine he goes and finally Aur at
[50:56]least at least here he should have been given the permission to
[50:59]fight Imam Hussein says no don't take the sword take the water
[51:04]bag and go and get some water if you can you know
[51:08]what im you know what Abbas says before before he left he
[51:15]says saydah my NS cannot handle the disrespect that they are giving
[51:20]you now let me go and fight he says but you are
[51:27]you are the flagbearer you are the backbone of the army he
[51:32]says which army where is the Army there's no one and I
[51:38]could not handle because they were mocking you know what they used
[51:41]to say they used to take the water the Mak they to
[51:44]take the water and they used to drip it and used to
[51:45]throw it on the ground and they used to say to Imam
[51:51]Hussein Alam this water is halal for the dogs and the pigs
[51:56]but we will not give a drop to Hussein imagine someone says
[52:05]that to Imam Hussein and Abbas is listening and so he comes
[52:09]he says M I cannot handle this anymore even then T he
[52:17]listens and complete fine if it's the will of my master to
[52:22]not fight to just get water tle and this is amongst the
[52:31]virtues of theia that you find within Abbas in fact at a
[52:37]peak that perhaps even some of the ambah did not reach that
[52:39]Peak that Abbas reached number two beware Allah subh andus beware that
[53:03]indeed theah of Allah subhana wa tala and these include as well
[53:09]they have no they don't have fear because if a has fear
[53:14]the cannot do the cannot face he cannot face the tyrants of
[53:21]his times he must have he must have a a bravery within
[53:25]him but what about the verse that says M had fear when
[53:36]Allah says go and speak go back go back to far he
[53:43]says but I've you know I've killed one of them what if
[53:48]they kill me he says that when mam says that I fear
[54:05]I fear that they will kill me that fear of M was
[54:10]not a negative fear it was not a fear that he feared
[54:15]for himself IM says that fear of mus was the fact that
[54:17]M feared if they kill me the mission of risalah will remain
[54:24]unaccomplished that was not a fear as in I fear for my
[54:29]life and Nai cannot fear for his life in the sense that
[54:34]disrupts his his mission and so says that was not for himself
[54:44]he was fearful that if he's killed what will happen jahala will
[54:49]increase ignorance will take over Fon will rule the mission will be
[54:55]abandoned AB ab and there's a misconception by the way you know
[55:01]sh is not bodily power Shad does not come from going to
[55:08]the gym and exercising and having a diet plan and lifting heavy
[55:16]that's not sh that's a misconception is a power of the heart
[55:27]is a it is a courage of the heart that has nothing
[55:28]to do with the size of the body the strength of a
[55:32]person how heavy he can lift or how big he is it
[55:39]is a power it is a it is a courage within the
[55:44]heart one can be all alone and still have that J that
[55:50]courage and one can being a you know a group of men
[55:55]and yet when called you he still runs the other direction so
[56:04]sh is nothing to do with exercising Sports it is a position
[56:14]of the NS of the heart and one cannot be a Shah
[56:19]if one is not a sa because if person is doesn't have
[56:24]sa doesn't have then he's not he becomes he'll kill anyone for
[56:33]the sake of it but yet there is someone who takes down
[56:39]the enemy puts his knee on his chest and a sword to
[56:45]his neck and when he spits at him he lets him go
[56:54]puts him on the ground sword to his neck like this same
[57:03]which I said last night would take on a thousand himself Ali
[57:12]puts him safe to his neck and he spits atali gets up
[57:21]and walks away this is the of the sh of that sh
[57:27]does not Cloud his judgment he knows when and where and when
[57:32]not in other words imir has shown the two different sides of
[57:38]the coin of Bravery one is to attack and the other is
[57:46]to control the have divided sh in levels number one Faris who's
[57:53]a Faris a Faris is someone when he's attacked he attacks back
[57:59]number one collect them as I mentioned them Faris when he's attacked
[58:04]he attacks back number two a who is this what is the
[58:10]difference he is the one who comes out and he challenges the
[58:12]opponent and he awaits his opponent but then you have a third
[58:17]division bah as who's a b this is someone that even if
[58:27]every everybody deserts him he stays firm on the ground Faris they
[58:34]attacking he attacks back sh he comes out and he calls the
[58:38]opponent come out and he waits B even if everyone deserts him
[58:48]he's all alone yet he stands his ground doesn't run AB abas
[58:55]was all three of them whether he's with people in Seine or
[59:03]he's all alone on the day of ashur ab Abbas the name
[59:11]Abbas itself Al Abbas ABA according to the dictionary l Abbas is
[59:24]someone Abbas is from a France a frowning lion the name is
[59:31]for a Assad for a lion But but so is so is
[59:40]so is abas the difference being what Abbas according to L is
[59:47]a lion from whom other Lions will flee when he enters in
[59:53]other words you have a lion when other animals see they flee
[59:58]but then you have Abbas when he comes even the Lions flee
[60:03]Al Abbas and why would he not be he is a son
[60:09]of the Lion of Allah subhana wa ta'ala or the son of
[60:19]you know the prophet in a narration which has come up both
[60:26]Sunni and Shia narration says Allah loves bravery even if it is
[60:39]to kill a snake even if a snake attacks you and you
[60:44]kill that snake something small to kill a snake even if it's
[60:49]that and not fighting in a battle any level of sh is
[60:52]commendable admired by Allah subhana wa ta'ala the point being Allah does
[60:59]not love or Allah or theat Allah does not love the one
[61:05]who is a coward fearful or the one who cries when he
[61:08]sees a snake no even if something small as long as it's
[61:17]a Act of Bravery Allah loves that let alone being all alone
[61:26]everyone deserts the prophet in one man stands in front of defending
[61:33]the messenger of Allah let alone that defending the Habib of Allah
[61:45]subhana wa even if it's something like that abas who has within
[61:49]him a level of sh that remains unmatched number three what do
[62:03]you say about the of abas this has been a topic of
[62:11]much debate we know sh we know bravery we know his courage
[62:17]we know his J what about his El you know jalaludin records
[62:30]an interesting narration about Hass Al basri H alas is considered a
[62:37]is considered someone of the second first generation of sahaba is the
[62:42]second generation the Sufi cires take their sillas back to him the
[62:50]scholars consider him a learned scholar of Bas he moved there after
[62:57]the battle of jaml and he has come to narrate many of
[62:59]the narrations especially from IM Jalal gives a background he says this
[63:11]Hass albas narrated narrations from ALB how his mother was a maid
[63:19]ofma the wife of the prophet and as a result of which
[63:26]she would come to her house some days in the week to
[63:30]help her and this hassas hbas was a small child would accompany
[63:33]her and he would sit in the house and sometimes sometimes Amir
[63:39]would come in the house to meetol when he's there and so
[63:42]H basri would listen directly would hear directly from IM Ali Talib
[63:46]he grows up to narrate narrations from Ali Talib so just hold
[63:54]that thought for a minute Hass Al basri mother is a maid
[64:00]in the house of um Salma Al visit sometimes H is there
[64:04]he listens directly from Ali Talib he grows up to be a
[64:09]of the traditions of Ali Talib if he can do it then
[64:16]what about Abul Abbas who's with his father 24/7 just connect the
[64:28]dots who with his father to say the least for ab abas
[64:38]and his he is the son of bab M if the others
[64:43]benefited and Ali himself within himself was a university who trained students
[64:53]Malik s an AB Salman Kum K who train people that grow
[65:07]out to become Scholars within their own right then what do you
[65:14]say of the of and I said last night and I've been
[65:18]saying and this is my message before I leave tonight if you
[65:23]take nothing from the last three lectures except this then let let
[65:27]it be this the fact that something is not recorded in the
[65:30]book does not mean it didn't take place and there's a rule
[65:35]in history this is a golden rule of evidence and this has
[65:41]been used by secular historians as well a golden rule take it
[65:48]what do they say the absence of proof is not proof of
[65:54]absence you have to analyze why is it if something is not
[65:59]there if we don't have a Hadi from Abbas why do we
[66:01]not have a from why did the historians not record it or
[66:08]is it because of the presence of the IM of the time
[66:12]AB Abbas at a level of Tas would not say anything because
[66:16]Hussein Ali is there number of reasons you see education back then
[66:27]was very different to education today today you go school College University
[66:33]you have different channels of gaining education back then there was only
[66:40]one channel your house what are your taught in the bait in
[66:44]the house the family members so if the family members are educated
[66:49]the child is going to be educated and if the family members
[66:53]are not educated then it's very difficult to produce educated child from
[66:57]that level of education but today is very different today the parent
[67:03]or the parents can be illiterate but a child can grow up
[67:07]to be a doctor and engineer because the channels of Education are
[67:11]now open and available but back then it depended on the house
[67:13]unless they could afford a teacher and aad and they get you
[67:19]a teacher but generally if anyone wanted to benefit they would find
[67:24]the teacher in the town and there is no greater than and
[67:29]ab grew in the lap of Al let me give a level
[67:39]of his Abbas a narration about his childhood Abbas is sitting in
[67:42]the lap of his father Embraces him he hugs him and he
[67:48]says yah Abbas oh my son say one he says one why
[67:57]he says now say he says father the tongue which professes the
[68:04]Oneness of Allah cannot say two what does that tell you it
[68:11]tells you yes you've got to be 14 you've got to reach
[68:20]the of for you to enter the world ofam you've got to
[68:24]reach that age there's a age for boys and girls you reach
[68:28]that age you enter but there is no age to enter or
[68:35]a if it's given from Allah subhana Isa in the Cradle you
[68:45]can say Isa is not even at that time is to do
[68:52]with age has nothing to do with age Allah can give it
[68:58]to he can give it to he can give it to Al
[68:59]when he's born and if he can give it to Ali why
[69:03]can he not give it to the sons of Ali especially someone
[69:09]who has a level like AB jaadi in his book he narrates
[69:26]an interesting story he says one day one of the in the
[69:29]H he was giving a speech to his students teaching in the
[69:36]so this is aim okay he says look to all of his
[69:42]students he says look theit established the the courage of Abit established
[69:54]no doubt no but when it comes to the and the of
[70:00]we don't know we're not sure he says that night I went
[70:10]to sleep in my dream I saw he came to me and
[70:18]he says yeah I have a question a question of he starts
[70:24]to shake he says you and ask me a question of he
[70:30]says yes listen he asks him a question on he sweats he
[70:35]says I don't know the answer now look at what he says
[70:40]he says in my dream AB Abbas said this to me which
[70:42]taught me a lesson to never say such a thing again he
[70:48]says to him Oh you mean to tell me that you after
[70:52]Generations and generation after generation have inherited have learned the IL of
[71:04]my father from rat from narrators many of them some of them
[71:09]reliable some of them unreliable and as a result of what you
[71:12]got through that you have become Alim but there is no raii
[71:18]between me and my father Ali and you tell me that I'm
[71:22]not Alim let that sink in for the one who says Abbas
[71:31]was not a Alim and sits on the member yet he thinks
[71:34]he is the Alim and he has got the of Ali Talib
[71:39]and he has never seen Ali Talib and he's got the of
[71:45]Talib generation after generation fromat from these narrators in the chain of
[71:48]narration some of them are trustworthy some of them are not and
[71:53]he sits on the memory says I am but Abbas is I
[71:56]don't know remember Abbas does not even have a gap of aaii
[72:00]between him and Ali he says that felt like a slap on
[72:14]my face to never utter such words again let me give you
[72:18]the words of M in his book he in his time was
[72:24]known to be an expert of it says as for he was
[72:37]amongst the was amongst the he was you know just trustworthy pure
[72:58]Pious such was the reality of Abbas the sixth Imam says our
[73:07]uncle Abbas had a Bas unlike any other Bas you cannot have
[73:11]Bas if you don't have so never doubt the IL of just
[73:22]know that this is someone who benefited directly you remember and I
[73:28]want to end here and come to M last point you remember
[73:32]what im sad says to oh aun Zab you are who does
[73:45]not have a who does not have a teacher you didn't learn
[73:49]from anyone there's no one who come out in history say I
[73:55]taught Zab go and find some who says I taught Z when
[73:57]you look at the list of who did he learn from who
[74:03]did he learn from who did he learn from everyone has everyone
[74:08]takes pride in teachers I learned from so and so said isah
[74:16]who's the teachers of Zab other than and say the zah the
[74:30]the statement of IM Saad is surreal oh a Zab you are
[74:36]a who does not have a teacher one of the comment makes
[74:39]an extraction here you know what he says he says b z
[74:44]at least is a woman she was only with Al as long
[74:49]as there was no there as long as there was none Outsider
[74:53]there otherwise she's behind the the veil only when family is there
[75:00]Zab is there when Outsiders are there Zab is away abas is
[75:03]someone who's there when the family is there and when The Outsiders
[75:07]are there so if this is the Mak of the of Zab
[75:10]now make an extraction make an Isam B here you decide for
[75:15]yourself and Zab is only partially with then imagine who's always with
[75:22]and then Hass and then Hussein you know these are just my
[75:30]words of saying something in honor of ab Abbas but I tell
[75:34]you what at the end I end here with the this segment
[75:41]of f is that whatever I say for Abbas is only my
[75:45]understanding of who Abbas was it is not the real Mak of
[75:50]abas which Allah bestowed upon him I can sit and give you
[75:56]my M my understanding of Abbas but to really grasp AB Abbas
[76:02]go towards that Zara which comes from the sixth IM go toward
[76:06]towards those which come from and in a day like thisam come
[76:17]to the of on a day like this when they return from
[76:26]sham once again AR is the renewal of Ash the only difference
[76:35]what is that before the body parts were severed now they come
[76:44]into a land which is covered with Graves the SH now buried
[76:48]and the narration say that this is also the day in which
[76:56]the holy head of ab abdah Hussein was returned to his body
[77:03]you're not in karbala today many are but just take yourselves to
[77:11]karbala for a minute remind yourselves 40 days back from today stood
[77:18]one man who was surrounded by swords and Spears remind yourself of
[77:28]that moment when no one was left Abbas was sleeping by the
[77:35]river of farat was all alone and you know there came a
[77:40]point where he reached the river of farat but what does he
[77:43]do when he reaches the river of farat he looks towards his
[77:50]brother Abbas the only Shahid who lay by the farat I don't
[77:53]know what it was but when he came to theat he remembered
[77:59]the severed hands of you know when the news of the shahadat
[78:05]of Abbas reaches his mother she would come to J and she
[78:12]would cry and she would say oh my son Abbas if only
[78:16]your hands were not severed my Hussein would have not been killed
[78:22]was a Shah unlike any other Shahed you know why because whenever
[78:26]anyone would fall from the back of the horse they would protect
[78:32]their faces with their hands but when Abbas fell from the back
[78:36]of the horse Abbas did not have any hands to protect his
[78:40]face he falls face first on the plains of carala yet despite
[78:46]that does not cry for Abbas cries for the son of Fatima
[78:55]for at that moment when when sh was all alone he was
[78:58]sitting by the forat it is said at that moment they fired
[79:03]a three-headed Arrow Into the Heart of ABA abdah they fired an
[79:08]arrow in the heart of Hussein and then they fired another arrow
[79:11]which went into the face of ABA Abdullah and then the third
[79:18]Arrow went into the forehead of ABA ABD on the day of
[79:25]on the day of jab says I was doing the Z of
[79:30]the of Hussein and I said to I see there is someone
[79:32]coming going see if they are the enemy then we'll hide and
[79:37]if it's my m s then tell me they say what is
[79:43]it he goes forward he comes back running he says oh ja
[79:46]this is my M this is Z when they come forward what
[79:51]do they see jabir now runs to IM Saad imagine this after
[79:57]a long time Imam Saad sees a friend after a long time
[80:04]Imam Saad sees someone who is a of Muhammad he Embraces him
[80:07]he says oh Master my MAA what has happened to you he
[80:12]says oh jabir do not ask me to repeat what has happened
[80:14]just know oh jab oh jabir this is where they killed our
[80:21]men this is that and then he says this is the makam
[80:26]where they killed our children oh jab this is the makam where
[80:31]they took our women as captives oh jab oh jab what do
[80:38]you ask me about my father they raised his head onto a
[80:44]spear I say to Imam Saad oh Saad you came into karbala
[80:47]on the day of ar oh sad oh IM sad tell me
[80:53]what was harder for you to to see the grave of your
[80:58]father or on the 11th of muharam when you were paraded through
[81:02]the bodies of the sh and you saw the headless body of
[81:09]your father oh MAA what was harder for you [Music] Z [Music]
