[34:48]when the earth is shaken to her convulsion and the earth shows
[34:52]up throws up her hundreds and man cries what is the matter
[34:56]with her on that day will she declare her tidings for that
[35:02]your lord will have given her inspiration on that day will men
[35:06]proceed in companies sorted out to be to be shown the deeds
[35:10]that they had done then shall anyone who has done an adam's
[35:15]way good see it and anyone who has done an adam's way
[35:20]of evil shall see it so live alone holy salonah my bride
[35:24]of heart sorry you know i was just given a job right
[35:39]now because brother musa is not here so i have to do
[35:43]the moderation couple of announcement that i have to make it every
[35:51]friday and around 07:30 there will be a lecture here with dua
[35:57]kumar dua kumar will not be on thursdays actually it's gonna be
[36:02]on every friday and there are a few more things that they
[36:07]are planning to do every friday evening so best thing is to
[36:12]follow us at the facebook and see what the next plan is
[36:17]second thing is there is a handout in the back that you
[36:22]will see for the women and it's basically about their opinion about
[36:26]the quran recitation program there are two options wednesday from 10am to
[36:33]12pm or friday two to 4pm so it's a survey it said
[36:39]it will be at the back and if they can fill it
[36:42]out then the the organizers will review it and based on the
[36:47]common consensus they will decide at what time the quran recitation will
[36:53]be and will be had for the women without further delay i'm
[36:59]gonna call doctor norris to come in and give a lecture about
[38:02]today doctor bessi apologized for providing the lectures i will be trying
[38:09]to cover a few concepts on the day of ashurban on the
[38:15]day after the day of ashurban i want to start with this
[38:22]slide aishwara is a big responsibility let us ask ourselves what did
[38:28]we do the last ten days what did we learn and what
[38:34]change has it made us if there is any change as we
[38:40]all know that ashura is a launching ground not the end of
[38:46]movement or revolution so my question is this what was the last
[38:52]call from imam hussein on the day of ashwa in kabulah what
[38:59]did imam hussein quote so who was he calling all his followers
[39:33]already called they already gave their lives so who the first question
[39:40]why was the call made if the people already he is talking
[39:45]to them there is no another very hard to find another khur
[39:50]at this moment at that moment who was the audience who are
[39:57]the people he directed his call to and who was how was
[40:02]it going to be broadcast if he's in a limited geographic place
[40:07]in kerala and he is asking who is going to reply to
[40:14]him so the first one why the call was made number two
[40:19]who was the audience and number three how this message gonna be
[40:24]transmitted so let's start with the first question why was the call
[40:29]was made as we know for the revolution of imam hussein there
[40:35]are three factors for the revolution the first one is intellectual factor
[40:39]which we call the islamic concept why imam hussein wanted to have
[40:44]this revolution done there are there are some basics for that number
[40:49]two is the emotional factor why the imam hussein wanted it to
[40:55]happen in that way because he could have taken an an advice
[41:00]from his brother and gone to yemen but he insisted to forfeit
[41:07]this legacy so the tragedy part and then the last one the
[41:13]media because if you have the concepts and you have the tragedy
[41:18]that means this has to be transmitted to people who are the
[41:21]people or how or how we gonna make this message transmitted over
[41:26]the generation to generation and after generation as we all know when
[41:33]we talk about the islamic concept for the revolution of democracies this
[41:38]was the main thing i have come i have come out for
[41:54]reformation in the nation of my grandfather i intended intended to enjoy
[42:00]the good and forbid the evil that was the slow down of
[42:04]the revolution that was the main reason and i will show you
[42:09]a few examples of what does this mean what is the what
[42:18]what what did rasulullah what kind of message he brought to the
[42:23]people that you know hussein has to sacrifice his life and his
[42:27]family members and his most sincere followers just to keep that message
[42:31]alive the second thing he wanted to give us a message that
[42:41]when there is injustice someone has to stand up now that this
[42:54]is forcing me to choose between the death and dishonor how impossible
[43:03]is it for me to accept this grace so the two concept
[43:09]one is to pursue the message of rasulullah second to defend it
[43:17]even that will cost the life of the sage of adam jindlin
[43:22]the master of the youth of the paradise so that was the
[43:30]first thing so the call was made alaam in nasrul in yahweh
[43:34]alaam in uranian it was made for that cause the second that
[43:40]who was the audience and as you know surely imam hussain was
[43:47]in a very small limited area surrounded by the enemies there is
[43:52]no medium there is no stations like a new station there is
[43:58]no internet there is basically nothing imagine yourself you are in the
[44:02]desert of karbala surrounded by 30,000 of the enemy and you want
[44:07]to deliver a message that you want generation to hear how are
[44:11]gonna make that it's almost impossible especially when he expect that the
[44:17]older people tell they have no interest to deliver his message and
[44:23]the people with him already been good but he repeated that the
[44:28]the narration said that he said it four times in every direction
[44:37]sayed it four directions why he did it four directions because he
[44:42]wanted to send this message to someone that's why he kept repeating
[44:47]that message it wasn't only one time and the reason why because
[44:55]of what i just mentioned thus this was not for the people
[44:58]in kabbalah his housewife they know that this is his his followers
[45:04]who were who died they are not there anymore his family knows
[45:08]about these things but they cannot provide any help so who was
[45:13]his audience brother and sister his audience was us us the people
[45:19]who came after the people who were at the time of the
[45:22]imam crusade in kufa medina and the next generations so what does
[45:30]he want from us we cannot now if we say the people
[45:34]in the kufa he was he was surrounded in kabbalah so they
[45:37]they can't come and give him a help so what kind of
[45:40]help he was asking because he knows no one gonna come from
[45:43]kufa to kabbalah at that time so what's around it and he
[45:46]knows the people here he's been here they cannot come and help
[45:49]him now so what kind of help he was asking he was
[45:53]asking us to follow the message of the prophecies to follow the
[45:59]guidance not what are the guidance of the prophecies they are the
[46:03]guidance of our rasul and al qur'an before that so what he
[46:06]wants to tell us that you need to help me al an
[46:10]nasrulian story by following the quran instructions guidance by following al rasul
[46:17]by following ahmad bay this is the way how he wants and
[46:22]he is also want us to help him to fight any tyranny
[46:26]throughout the years so let's go over a few of the instructions
[46:33]our rasulullah or from al al baqar these are the things which
[46:37]imam hussain wanted us to follow what does that mean it means
[46:50]allah said if you wanna say something it's better to work on
[46:55]it and act based on that it means allah will look like
[47:02]the person who say something but act or behave completely differently if
[47:08]i ask someone to pray i have to pray first if i
[47:13]ask someone to fast i have to fast first and this is
[47:19]what quran said okay in the sight of allah that you say
[47:29]what you don't do not do that allah hate it the most
[47:34]hateful thing in the eye of allah so let us brothers and
[47:42]sisters think about this when we talk about any concept of islam
[47:47]let's first ask ourselves are we a role model for that if
[47:52]yes we should say it if not i'm not saying don't say
[47:56]it work on making yourself a role model so you can say
[47:59]it and allah will be pleased for it the second thing no
[48:04]that's not even enough what what more than that and hadith from
[48:09]the muslim not only allah want us to say to do what
[48:19]we say or say what we do he also want us to
[48:25]present ourselves not just by talking because sometimes i might say something
[48:30]but again i might behave differently the best way to make dawah
[48:36]for people the best way to invite people to our islam the
[48:41]right islam the islam of muhammad the best way is the way
[48:49]how you act not the way how you say it it's the
[48:52]same way when you raise your kid when you raise your kid
[48:55]the best way you teach them how to do things is not
[48:59]by just keep telling them and acting something different it's by what
[49:02]they they the kids will listen and see but they will see
[49:07]the effect of seeing is more than the effect of listening despite
[49:11]the growth reported so this is what islam says be silent propagators
[49:18]to our cause which is islam without using your tongues by using
[49:23]your behavior i'm not sure why this came like this to love
[49:31]and repay ali islam the meaning of the hadith because i don't
[49:55]remember the hadith exactly in arabic but the meaning of it that
[49:58]that you need to love us in a way that when you
[50:02]reach to a point that that love if it exceeds the way
[50:06]how it should be it would be backfiring and this is very
[50:11]important express your love to us the way you love islam do
[50:16]not exaggerate and express your love to an to the extent that
[50:20]it will turn against us what does that mean i can give
[50:24]you an example today i wanted to find a picture of karbala
[50:28]2015 to put it in my presentation so i went to google
[50:34]and i put karbala 2015 and i advise you to do that
[50:52]okay but i found maybe like about 400 picture of what do
[50:57]think what you can find blood everywhere people are half naked beating
[51:04]themselves every picture that if you put it people when when when
[51:09]they look at it they all will be gonna get a very
[51:13]very poor and bad impression about ahmad bayt path because they think
[51:19]this is ashura they think anytime we mention ashura this is what
[51:23]we're talking about and that's that's a major issue that's why we
[51:28]have to speak up because this kind of behavior they are not
[51:33]accepted regardless who's gonna say it i'm gonna say this is my
[51:37]personal opinion but i can tell you there are many fukaha many
[51:41]fukaha and very respected ones probably most of the respected ones they
[51:49]are against these kind of behaviors if they distort the the image
[51:54]of a halimbate and this is what it means this hadith says
[51:58]express your love to us the way you love islam do not
[52:05]exaggerate and express your love to ahlul bayt to the extent that
[52:08]it will turn against us so another hadith it says from everyone
[52:43]haslam but from you is haslam and al tabir from everyone is
[52:49]tabir women call aqla what that means it means when someone does
[52:55]something good it's good from whoever is gonna bring come up with
[53:00]it whether that is a muslim or non muslim whether it's a
[53:04]kafir or muslim good no one can say if someone helps someone
[53:08]sick that's good everyone appreciate it but the imam saying if it
[53:13]comes from the shia that's even better because why because you are
[53:19]counted as one of our followers people look at you as you
[53:23]are one of our followers and the bad things is bad from
[53:27]mother gonna come up with you but from the shia if we
[53:32]claim we are shia we are shia of ahmadreid it's worse because
[53:37]people will consider us as a follower of ahmadreid and then the
[53:43]next hadith says that every muslim has to pay sadaqah everyday so
[53:51]one of the companion asked rasul can we really afford it guiding
[54:09]a person to his way visiting a patient enjoining good for many
[54:19]people are returning the greeting these are the reason i'm putting these
[54:25]hadith maybe when someone would ask what does this have to do
[54:28]with the ashura these are the core of ashura ashura came for
[54:32]these days the reason why we celebrate ashura one time to mourn
[54:37]democracy but the second thing we have to to follow these things
[54:42]because this was the cause of democracy if we don't follow these
[54:45]things what is good for us to come here and cry for
[54:48]ten days and go home and then say okay we did that
[54:51]believe me some people think by just coming here they're gonna get
[54:56]to paradise because they are coming crying for for imam hussein and
[55:03]they will get to paradise that doesn't happen you have we have
[55:06]to be good muslims we have to have our salat has to
[55:10]be accepted our sunnah has to be accepted shabbat and and and
[55:17]and it doesn't come unless if we have done our job first
[55:21]first it's like exactly when you wanna apply for a job if
[55:25]you ask someone to put a good word for you to be
[55:28]accepted in that job for that job if you don't have the
[55:32]minimum how people they're not gonna bring someone maybe that's gonna happen
[55:37]in our companies but here you have to have the baseline you
[55:40]have to have the minimum requirement then the shefa'ah then the connection
[55:46]will help otherwise if we don't have the minimum required thing how
[55:50]does the connection get in you think of rasul or mam rasul
[55:53]can bring someone who has not prayed and not fast and no
[55:58]hijab or nothing just to say okay you know what because this
[56:01]person came and cry a little bit and i i'm someone who's
[56:05]you know fasting and doing all this is that fair that's not
[56:10]fair so that's something to keep in mind these are the concepts
[56:14]which imam hussein wanted us to do life as you feel you're
[56:44]gonna live forever but when it comes to the day after you
[56:47]have to work the way that you think that you can be
[56:51]dying tomorrow this is for the for the ladies for the young
[57:21]ladies people who the ladies who want to get married and you
[57:39]can have someone has a good mana but they have but doesn't
[57:42]have religion islam ask for both someone has religion pious and a
[57:50]good behavior they have to go side by side so if you
[57:53]want to look for someone there is nothing about money here in
[57:57]this hadith it's about what you do in in regard to the
[58:02]religion of the person and the same thing for men who look
[58:05]for a woman the same way you look at the religion and
[58:10]you look at the manner is that person pious do they have
[58:16]a good behavior and that what what what that's why the hadith
[58:20]separated the two because it didn't want to assume that anyone has
[58:24]religion has a manner or the vice versa another hadith which is
[58:37]very important here when you ask for right sometimes the right can
[58:43]be very bitter actually many times right will be very bitter and
[58:48]the imam this is from the imam zayn al abideen and was
[58:54]reported by imam al baqar for his about his father he said
[58:58]avoid i'm sorry this is is the next slide for this slide
[59:03]as the imam is asking about another lesson you know the the
[59:11]april fool i mean everyone knew that that one is haram based
[59:15]on this hadith people sometimes make joke lying that's joke the small
[59:21]one is harm based on this hadith well there's another is this
[59:38]is in in the school of democracy is not exact because they
[59:42]know how to represent democracy so that's another thing to keep in
[59:46]mind so i said avoid small lies and big ones both when
[59:51]you are serious and when you are joking and the other one
[59:56]which i mentioned now about the right it says that it would
[60:02]i will tell you that my father told me on his deathbed
[60:06]be patient and tolerant in pursuing the right no matter how bitter
[60:11]it might be the right many times is very bitter if someone
[60:17]if something happens and you want to say the right thing sometimes
[60:20]it can cost life sometimes it can cost job sometimes it can
[60:26]cost money but this is the advice of democracies save the heart
[60:35]even if it was very bitter and that's what makes difference so
[60:44]we just mentioned that what was the call for and who was
[60:49]the audience the third question how was it going to be broadcast
[60:57]as we mentioned there is now a new station so who's gonna
[61:01]better deliver this message and this is the thing which i wanna
[61:04]just focus a little bit about i mentioned that this is a
[61:12]very limited place there was no right in nothing and then now
[61:15]we talk about the people with the imam you're seeing the amis
[61:19]might talk about it but of course they're not gonna be in
[61:21]favor of the imam you're seeing but the two people who left
[61:24]in kabbalah who carried this message from their shoulder and delivered to
[61:31]this day were those two zaynab alaihis salam and imam zaynab alaihis
[61:37]salam and i'm sorry imam zayn al abidin because i i feel
[61:51]sometimes people don't know the background was born in thirty nine hejrib
[61:59]his father was the master of the martyrs sayyid sharad his mother
[62:04]was sharabal or they call it the shahzinam that's why they call
[62:08]him because he has his mother was like the daughter of of
[62:17]of the king of of iran so and his father his mother
[62:25]died right after the the the next like right at the time
[62:29]of the birth and on the day of mashura many people might
[62:34]not know what was the age of of zaynur abdi alaihis son
[62:37]he was 22 years old he was a prisoner of war for
[62:44]almost one year and then he returns to medina and he stayed
[62:50]there until for thirty seven years and when he was he became
[62:59]martyrdom on when he was 58 years old so this is the
[63:07]life of imam zainul abidin and unfortunately when you hear many speakers
[63:11]when they talk imam zainul abidin what kind of image they put
[63:14]for us if you think about it you think about imam zain
[63:19]abdul many people will put it like this a victim of tragedy
[63:24]a sick person who was always sick prisoner of war spent his
[63:29]life trying praying and making dawn isn't that that's the image which
[63:35]many people have in their mind few people will think about he
[63:40]was islamic missionary who guided people to the goal of revolution of
[63:44]imam hussein she was married to abdullah ibn jafar ibn abi talib
[64:40]and they had basically there are two different stories but sources one
[64:47]of them say that he had three another say four that's why
[64:50]the three sons and the number four so the question is now
[65:21]what was the role of the woman in the hosseinian school what
[65:26]was the role of zayn what was her role there what was
[65:30]the image of zayn what do you think what how do we
[65:34]envision zaynab how to become zaynabian the image of zaynab ali islam
[65:42]in many of the speakers is not better than the image of
[65:45]imam zaynab ali some people will describe her as a bedwet female
[65:54]with feebel spread striking by calamity and taking captive and you can
[65:59]hear it in many of the poetries some an only woman who
[66:03]did not find her tribe calling for tribal revenge other will call
[66:09]her whose worries were limited to her pains her children and other
[66:15]women without any interest in the main cause and you can see
[66:19]it in many many of you know talks and many things but
[66:23]zaynim was much much much bigger than that and much different than
[66:28]that image and i will go to the court from oh sister
[66:52]i beseech you so do honor my appeal when i die do
[66:57]not tear off a garment nor scratch a face do not scream
[67:03]in wailing and lamenting because of me a very powerful message different
[67:10]than what we hear let's see what she told him what she
[67:15]answered him she said rest peacefully assured you will find me only
[67:28]as you wish and as you please this is the image of
[67:34]zayn al alaihi salaam why because the message imam hussain wants to
[67:38]give never let your enemy rejoice at our misfortune that was the
[67:45]image that was zaynir gave on the gate of kufr in the
[67:51]palace of evincia and in the palace of izmir this is the
[67:56]image which zayneb gave never let our enemy rejoice like our misfortune
[68:04]so if we go i don't want to exceed my time if
[68:10]we go over the speeches that zaynani gave or what she did
[68:15]before we go to sweden what did she do in karbala those
[68:19]are the five main things on the way to kabbalah she ensured
[68:24]chosen sorry cohesion and stability of the people inside the camp of
[68:34]imam hussain she prepared for the battle organizing the families and children
[68:39]in their tents and ensuring no negative effect on the fighters keeping
[68:44]them in the tents the children and the women providing all possible
[68:49]support for the fighters during and after the fight soothing the pain
[68:54]of the battle and alleviating the impact on the companions' families and
[68:59]one of the most important thing protecting the life of the survivor
[69:04]and on the top of them imam zaida abdulani once they get
[69:10]to kufa right at the gate of kufa she started telling people
[69:18]who are this character who are who who who are they because
[69:23]people didn't know many people didn't know who they told them these
[69:26]people are were against the emir ibn ziyadh and iraq so when
[69:31]they came to kufa she started introducing herself and then she started
[69:39]telling the kufian people about what kind of sin they committed and
[69:48]she criticized them criticized them about the crying she said weep because
[69:54]you are only fit to weep yes by the almighty weep because
[69:59]you are only fit to reap yes weep in plenty and love
[70:04]less because you are holy still in the shame of the murder
[70:09]of the imam of your time and then when she came to
[70:16]the palace of ebn ziyad there was another scenario in that tyranny
[70:23]place with all the what we call the jabarut of that person
[70:27]who was killing everyone like i mentioned a woman which would describe
[70:31]she's weak all of a sudden she's not weak she's actually someone
[70:37]who can deliver a message with all a forceful message a brave
[70:43]woman delivering a very forceful message ebezi had told the daughter of
[70:49]ali have you seen how god has acted with your brother al
[70:53]ra'i sunam allah fikul what did she answer i have not seen
[71:01]a larger woman but benevolence and goodness from god and as of
[71:08]our people for whom god has blessed them with the martyrdom they
[71:13]defended themselves with their own o son of ziyadh god will bring
[71:19]you face to face with them when you will offer excuses which
[71:24]will be of no end and then when she moved to damascus
[71:33]she was at the palace of another town yazid and listen to
[71:41]this word the first thing she started she wanted to show who
[71:46]is the person she's talking to to the people because that's one
[71:50]way psychologically it's very important to try to first describe who is
[71:56]the person who's in front of so she so she say oh
[72:00]son of the released ones people know what this is it's a
[72:07]very shameful word at that time because ibn abdullah khan abdullah khan
[72:12]are the people who get in islam just because they fail they
[72:17]are the failure the failure the people who fought rasulullah to the
[72:22]last point and they exhausted every effort to stop islam and then
[72:28]at the end they surrounded and rasul gave them forgiveness so the
[72:34]the worst of the worst so she want to remind the people
[72:39]who is this person the first thing she started oh son of
[72:43]the released news yab nak talakap that you keep your ladies so
[72:48]now she want to compare him with him you keep your lady
[72:52]yibnatul akbar and you put the ladies of rasul salih al alhadwari
[72:58]outside with no fear and walking in the deserts so that's the
[73:04]first comparison and then she goes a little bit further but what
[73:10]do you expect from someone who was coming from his mother who
[73:15]ate the liver of hamzah so she went further not in of
[73:20]just the ibn al qulqa further that his mother is one that
[73:25]her flesh her flesh was made from the liver of hamzah who
[73:31]chewed the liver of purified wings and whose flesh grows out of
[73:35]the blood of the martyrs so this is a very powerful thing
[73:39]this is talking to yazidi it's not talking to someone like you
[73:42]know a soldier is the the the top of that the amoian
[73:47]empire so i'm gonna i'm almost done so the the message of
[73:56]imam hussein which sayyid ibrahim wanted to deliver this is what we
[74:02]talked about this is what imam hussein was trying to pass to
[74:10]us that the pastor and the son of the pastor has left
[74:14]us but two choices either resorting to the sword or capitulating how
[74:24]preposterous humiliation is not our cup of tea allah shall never let
[74:31]this happen to us so shall his messenger and that's what zaynab
[74:37]say your view shall be proven futile your days limited in number
[74:52]and your web wasted on the day when the caller calls out
[74:57]the curse of allah be upon the oppressors these are the revolutions
[75:03]which happened i showed you the other day that happened after allah
[75:07]ashura all from the message of zainab alaihah and the message of
[75:13]zainab al din which were coming afterward so just to recap the
[75:18]quality of the commemoration is based on the level of the balance
[75:26]between the emotional excitement and the islamic concepts there has to be
[75:33]a balance between the two and that's the responsibility of the scholars
[75:38]as well as the listeners and that's why ashura will continue to
[75:43]be a school for every generation and because of zayn efsirah almaria
[75:49]who sacrificed because of her sacrifice and heroism she will continue to
[75:55]be thank you brother lee for a very good lecture as he
[76:34]was giving lecture was reviewing few of the sayings of imam hussein
[76:39]and one thing that really stood out was one of his saying
[76:42]that he said salaam has 70 virtues 69 of which are for
[76:49]the one who is first to greet whereas only one award for
[76:54]the one who advise so says enough to say that you know
[76:58]we should always be first to greet people so without any further
[77:03]delay we will invite to come and deliver his lecture
