[0:09]welcome back to another episode of the legends of shiism the personality
[0:15]of today is truly a unique one a grand personality a personality
[0:21]that has been forgotten by our community a personality that our lecturers
[0:26]and many of our scholars are not discussing enough to give them
[0:31]justice to how much they sacrificed for the religion of islam for
[0:34]protecting the messenger of allah and his family and his loyalty that
[0:39]he showed to the family of the prophet after the messenger of
[0:46]allah so stay with me in sha allah as i briefly discuss
[0:49]his life as we can't get into too much detail as we
[0:53]are trying to keep these episodes as short as possible and straight
[0:57]to the point as possible inshallah so i thought i'll show you
[0:59]some of the books that i will be using for this episode
[1:06]from the bottom is the second is hadith by now of course
[1:31]i will be using other books like and maybe amal and a
[1:40]few others but these are the main books in sha allah that
[1:43]we will be using for this episode this is the book al-isaba
[1:47]by bin hajir askalani volume 2 page 11.
[1:51]the personality we are discussing is been s of course i had
[2:13]to put the dot there because i think they must have got
[2:17]it wrong when they were printing so our personality of today is
[2:25]the companion of rasulullah so like i have mentioned his actual name
[2:32]is khalid bin zayd but of course everyone knows him as abu
[2:38]ayuba ansari abba yuba ansari as well was known to be from
[2:44]the chief of the people of medina and was known to be
[2:48]from the chief of his tribe and his tribe was one of
[2:51]the biggest tribes in medina it was al-khazraj so he came from
[2:55]beni al-najjar and he was from the tribe of al-khazraj and it
[2:59]is known that he was from the first and foremost of the
[3:02]ansar those who from the most important events incidents in the life
[3:14]of abba yobel ansari is that he was the host of rasulullah
[3:23]and this is one of the things that truly elevated the status
[3:26]of a you will ansari in the eyes of the muslims for
[3:30]you imagine you are the host of rasulullah rasulullah is the guest
[3:36]at your house you have the honor of serving rasulullah it's mentioned
[3:42]in the books of history and the books that discuss the life
[3:46]of the prophet and the life of the companions that when the
[3:49]prophet first entered medina what happened was many of the people of
[3:56]medina were basically saying oh rasulullah stay at my house and so
[3:59]that there is no bickering and fighting and no problems arise the
[4:03]prophet said let the camel choose so the camel chose the house
[4:09]of ansari some historians say he stayed there for seven months some
[4:14]say four months some say even one month but it seems like
[4:17]it was for a few months before the masjid was built and
[4:22]before the house of the prophet was actually built now as for
[4:26]about a you will answer what we see is is that many
[4:30]of his narrations found in sunni books is that he was basically
[4:36]narrating and it could be said that majority of these narrations that
[4:41]he's narrating from rasulullah is when he was hosting rasulullah it's a
[4:48]shame because you would think he was there for a little while
[4:51]so he was spending a lot of time with him you know
[4:54]after food while eating and so on and we don't have that
[5:01]many narrations um in the muslim hadith corpus form of ansari now
[5:04]in the shia hadith corpus we see that many of his narrations
[5:09]are above the status and rank of the hill bait especially about
[5:14]imam ali alayhi salaam abu al-ansari not only was he someone that
[5:22]hosted rasulullah but it is famously known that he participated in all
[5:26]of the battles of rasulullah and this is something that is important
[5:30]because it shows us that he was always willing to fight for
[5:34]rasulullah because you imagine going from one battle to another to another
[5:40]to another it takes a lot out of you it takes time
[5:41]it takes preparation and so on so it shows us somewhat of
[5:47]his personality of what a great figure he truly was and how
[5:51]much he had loyalty towards the messenger of allah abba ayubal ansari
[5:55]showed his loyalty to rasulullah even more after the death of rasulillah
[6:02]it's famously known among the hadith corpus of the shia and within
[6:08]some of the opinions of the ulama is that about ansari was
[6:15]among the 12 individuals that rejected the caliphate of abu bakr when
[6:21]abu bakr became the khalifa and it shows us that he was
[6:28]truly loyal to rasulillah that he was truly loyal to the household
[6:32]of muhammad because he believed in the now of course there is
[6:41]a discussion on what ansari fought in all of the battles of
[6:45]amir al-muhmuni so there's a discussion among historians some historians say that
[6:50]he didn't participate in all of the battles of imam ali now
[6:55]in my humble opinion i see that it is very unlikely that
[7:01]this is true we have reports in sunni and shia books where
[7:05]it basically says a man said to abu ayobe ansari o abba
[7:09]you this sword of yours is the sword that fought the mushrikeen
[7:13]and you are using the same sword to fight the muslims replies
[7:18]by saying we was commanded to fight so he's saying that we
[7:30]have been ordered to fight these people that are rebelling against amir
[7:35]al-mu'mineen showing us for him he didn't care about what others are
[7:40]upon and what the world is upon for him what mattered is
[7:42]that he obeys rasulullah and for him to obey emir [Music] and
[7:49]this is the beauty of ansari he truly showed a spirit of
[7:57]a warrior that for him no matter his age no matter where
[8:01]he is in life he has to be loyal to prophet muhammed
[8:06]in his household it's mentioned also in some reports in the books
[8:11]of history that imam ali alayhi salaam assigned abu ubel ansari to
[8:17]become his wakeel his representative in medina and that he was there
[8:26]for some time until maui basically sent his army to medina this
[8:31]was all after naharawan and then he went to join imam ali
[8:35]alayhi salaam in iraq and it is said that basically the army
[8:39]of mahaya that was sent burnt down or destroyed the house of
[8:46]our uber ansari so you could tell he as a man as
[8:51]an individual he sacrificed a lot for islam he sacrificed a lot
[8:55]for the truth and to obey the messenger of allah and to
[8:59]obey the success of rasulullah so abu ayouble ansari lived for about
[9:07]10 years after imam ali alayhi salaam's martyrdom and it is mentioned
[9:11]that he joined the army of maui against the romans in constantinople
[9:17]where he basically went to fight them and it basically says that
[9:23]some reports indicate that the leader or the commander of the army
[9:27]was yazid and that abba ansari got ill as the siege was
[9:35]happening and he told them basically or told yazid bin mahalia some
[9:40]reports indicate that he wants to be buried um behind enemy lines
[9:44]if you want to call it that and basically as the siege
[9:50]was happening and as they were pushing the romans back they buried
[9:55]about ansari which is today in istanbul in turkey now i'm sure
[9:59]many of you are asking the question how is it that someone
[10:04]like about you bill ansari who's a companion of imam ali and
[10:08]from the shia of imam ali to join the army of sufyan
[10:13]against the mushrikeen the romans and how is it that he even
[10:18]thought it was okay to do so now of course this discussion
[10:22]occurred even in the time of the imams there's a report attributed
[10:26]to fab in chardon in regard where he basically says when asked
[10:30]regarding this he says it was a misunderstanding from him it was
[10:37]him thinking that he was doing something good because he wanted to
[10:40]strengthen the muslims or islam and weaken the mushrikeen or now of
[10:48]course say the hawaii in his book hadith and even sayyid actually
[10:54]even disagree with father and shadow they say this is incorrect this
[10:59]is incorrect statement by father shadow and this is incorrect for him
[11:03]to even say so for it is known that ansari was from
[11:08]the companions of amir al-mu'min and was loyal to emir menin and
[11:12]that he wasn't the only one if we were going to say
[11:16]this about our hubel ansari many of the companions of imam ali
[11:21]who were known to be shia of imam ali went and fought
[11:23]under the first caliph the second caliph and so on so it's
[11:27]not a matter of um lowering the position or status of our
[11:32]uber ansari he thought this was best that he goes and fights
[11:36]against the romans to strengthen the muslims and that it wasn't a
[11:40]form of misunderstanding we see even in many cases where the imams
[11:44]will basically want to protect the muslim lands against those who are
[11:49]known to be non-muslim the kuffar so it's not something that everyone
[11:54]would agree with the statement of inshallah although falmouth does give um
[12:02]some excuse to abortible ansari and i definitely think that about ansari
[12:08]thought that he was doing something good for islam and if we
[12:13]are going to judge him by that then we are going to
[12:17]have to judge all of the other companions and shia of imam
[12:20]ali alaihissalam that fought under the first and second caliph now we
[12:26]have reports by a sadhu and mufid and also statements of our
[12:30]classical scholars that tell us was among the twelve not only did
[12:37]they reject the caliphate of abu bakr but they stayed upon the
[12:40]manhattan of rasulullah that did not change the religion of rasulullah they
[12:44]did not innovate in the religion of rasulullah so may allah raise
[12:49]us with abu ayouble ansari may allah allow us to live the
[12:53]life of our ansari and may allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allow us
[12:58]to host rasulillah in our houses in jannah allah in the next
[13:03]few reps that my brother may allah bless him brother barha took
[13:07]when he went to istanbul so that insha allah you all know
[13:11]that there is a great companion a great shiri who is buried
[13:17]there for you to visit when you go to turkey inshaallah you
