[0:28]ald me [Music] Hassan Sal [Music] for the hastening of the reappearance
[2:28]of the master the Savior the Avenger recite aloud my dear brothers
[2:41]and sisters when it comes to the virtues of the commander of
[2:51]the faithful there's an important caveat to keep in mind and that
[3:04]is that his merits his characteristics his virtues are often exclusive in
[3:10]nature bear with me for a moment because this will give you
[3:17]an important key to not only detecting and understanding the unparalleled qualities
[3:26]of but also truly appreciating them his virtues are exclusive which means
[3:37]that they have a tendency to negate those qualities and features from
[3:46]being possessed by other people in other words wasn't just a Pioneer
[3:56]when it came to character in and fulfilling the unique features that
[4:06]he had he wasn't just a step ahead of everybody else rather
[4:11]he possessed the majority of his qualities to the negation of other
[4:18]people meaning that no one else possessed those qualities and it was
[4:29]clearly demonstrated through his actions that the features that he possessed were
[4:33]non-existent in others allow me to demonstrate I'll ask you a question
[4:42]that I want you to think about it won't take too much
[4:44]processing but if I asked you who the most courageous person was
[4:53]you're thinking of someone but before you answer the question allow me
[4:58]to set the stage we have to acknowledge that bravery and courage
[5:08]are merits and virtues in and of themselves meaning that regardless of
[5:17]religious affiliation regardless of who possesses courage it is a trait that
[5:26]we all admire and respect much like generosity compassion honesty right it
[5:37]doesn't matter who possesses these qualities whether this person is a Muslim
[5:41]or a non-muslim simply exhibiting qualities like courage honesty compassion kindness is
[5:51]something that is universally admired true now that being said Mecca boasted
[6:01]some of the bravest people in the Arabian Peninsula and possibly the
[6:08]world some of these names you might be familiar with others not
[6:14]so much but you have people like he was a paragon of
[6:23]Bravery he was admired by everyone within the Arab tribes of the
[6:30]Arabian Peninsula sh these people were known for their unparalleled courage another
[6:40]example a name that you are familiar with is was so brave
[6:49]that picture the scene he'd be sitting with some of his friends
[6:55]in the morning eating breakfast then he would get up and walk
[6:58]away they'd say to him where are you headed off to he
[7:02]would say oh I'm just going on a conquest to a war
[7:08]an expedition against a particular tribe he would go singlehandedly defeat that
[7:15]tribe in battle then come back in the afternoon carrying their possessions
[7:21]as his personal booty just one man fighting an entire tribe of
[7:28]warriors this was they used to call him because in one battle
[7:41]he faced an enemy that was a thousand man strong by himself
[7:45]it's very difficult to picture this it's the stuff of Legends right
[7:53]heroes in modern movies can't be depicted in such a manner but
[7:58]he would face a thousand men defeat all of them take their
[8:02]possessions and go back home to Feast now this was Mecca as
[8:10]for Medina there were people like Al as well as his brother
[8:21]who was known as the one who defended the Fortified complex of
[8:28]K right these two brothers and marhab they were known once again
[8:36]for their bravery and so that is a virtue that people naturally
[8:43]respect and admire they were great warriors they were brave men who
[8:52]did not fear the Enemy No matter how large no matter how
[8:56]strong now all of these names that I mentioned they share two
[9:03]common traits number one their legendary courage and number two they were
[9:08]all slain at the hands [Applause] ofad the bravest of men could
[9:30]not stand in the face of Ali his courage was not just
[9:37]a portion above other people it's not that others were also Brave
[9:46]within the camp of Muslims Ali was unique Ali was different distinguished
[9:56]in all of his qualities as I said exclud clusive to him
[10:02]I'll give you a couple of examples with some nuances and details
[10:10]that often get skimmed over in lectures and sermons but I think
[10:14]they're critically important in understanding this point about the virtues of am
[10:20]the first is in the battle ofab otherwise known as the battle
[10:28]of why is it calledand because aand refers to a moat and
[10:36]when all of the Pagan tribes came together as a United Force
[10:44]to attack Muslims in Medina led by none other than Abu sufyan
[10:52]sham the father of muaah all the tribes gathered and they decided
[11:01]to collectively launch a decisive war against the fledgling Muslim Community Salman
[11:13]said to the holy prophet that I suggest we dig a moat
[11:24]around the city at the very least around our weak spots so
[11:29]that the enemy cannot Advance into the holy city when they initiate
[11:34]their Ambush so they dug a moat they filled it with fire
[11:41]as a means to fortify the city the Muslims were so afraid
[11:52]that the Quran describes this moment in history in Vivid detail when
[11:59]you read the verses inah as Allah subhanahu wa taala describes the
[12:06]emotional state of the Muslims you will get a glimpse of just
[12:11]how much fear had taken over them obviously they had the likes
[12:23]of Al and that should have given comfort and Solace to the
[12:27]Believers but not the disbelievers not the hypocrites Amir once again his
[12:35]bravery everyone was familiar with it in fact they mention a person
[12:41]by the name of he was one of the enemy forces he
[12:45]came forward and he was faced with whether there was an actual
[12:53]battle between them an actual duel we don't know but approached him
[12:58]so he quickly fled the scene he ran off now this man
[13:02]was also respected and recognized and was supposedly a brave man so
[13:10]they asked him they said why did you run away from him
[13:14]listen to what he said he said when I saw his face
[13:22]it's as if I saw death showing and revealing its face to
[13:29]me I knew that facing means certain death no question about it
[13:34]so I ran off now some of these details you need to
[13:39]pay close attention to now the Muslims are now surrounded all these
[13:46]Arab tribes the pagans have completely sealed off the city of Medina
[13:53]they're about to Ambush but they're prevented by the moat the moat
[13:58]was in fact very wide and so they couldn't and there was
[14:04]fire inside they couldn't just jump over it some of them attempted
[14:06]to jump over the moat only to fall to their death inside
[14:14]the moat who was brave enough to attempt this it was being
[14:20]the brave risk taker that he was being far yel that he
[14:27]was being a man who would face a thousand arm Warriors that
[14:31]he was he also had an incredibly strong and fast horse so
[14:38]he jumped over the the moat and made it safely on the
[14:46]other side when he jumped over you can imagine the fear that
[14:49]many of the Muslims had was now Amplified made it it's not
[14:58]just any random person but with so he came forward and he
[15:04]began calling out and challenging people to come and face him what
[15:11]Amar did in my view was humiliate the Muslim Army why because
[15:19]he came and said would anyone come and face me I challenge
[15:26]you to come and fight me he kept saying it over and
[15:29]over again to the point where he said these this poetry this
[15:34]poem he said he said my voice has gone horse I've been
[15:44]screaming out off the top of my lung would anyone come and
[15:49]face me he said I'm standing before you I'm willing to fight
[16:02]you don't you have anyone with a modum of courage to come
[16:05]and face me to make matters even worse this is where I
[16:12]believe was the Apex of humiliation he said don't you claim that
[16:33]if you are killed in battle you will go to heaven and
[16:38]that if you kill one of us this person meaning himself will
[16:41]go to hell so is there no one who wants to go
[16:46]to heaven is there none of you who can fight me and
[16:49]either get killed and end up in Paradise or kill me and
[16:55]send me to Hell come and fight me now everyone was sitting
[17:04]According to some reports imagine if someone is in the park or
[17:12]on the beach and a bird sits on their head they try
[17:17]not to move because the slightest movement will cause the bird to
[17:23]fly off so historians describe the Muslims as people who were so
[17:30]still as if they had a bird sitting on their head in
[17:36]case their movement would be misc conscrew as a gesture of responding
[17:43]to the call of in case somebody moved and the prophet said
[17:47]are you volunteering to go and fight they stood still their heads
[17:50]bowed down not a breath Alim alak ahed other Sunni jurists and
[18:05]historians and narrators have stated that every time issued the challenge would
[18:14]get up and say I'll go and fight him would tell Al
[18:24]to sit back down this is really important listen carefully he would
[18:29]tell him to sit back down then the prophet would encourage the
[18:35]Believers to go and fight he would say is there no one
[18:38]to go fight him I will guarantee Paradise for you is there
[18:44]anything more you'd want to be guaranteed entry into Paradise in other
[18:50]words you fear death fine let's say the worst case scenario takes
[18:54]place you die I guarantee your entry into into heaven no one
[19:00]responded on one occasion and this Hadith is in the holy prophet
[19:10][Music] said who would go and fight for whoever does so I
[19:20]will appoint him as my successor after me Allah no one moved
[19:25]not a breath not a shiver would get up again I can
[19:35]go and face him the prophet said no sit down the third
[19:40][Applause] time got up the third time said to him this is
[19:50]we're talking about he's the stuff of Legends everyone knows how strong
[19:55]and skilled and powerful and courageous and brave he is the IM
[20:01]responded by saying Ali I know he's but I'm Ali now this
[20:10]is important why because had volunteered to go fight the first time
[20:16]around had permitted him to go and face later on when they
[20:25]presented the story they could simply say came he challenged the Muslims
[20:30]volunteered he fought him he killed him end of discussion which says
[20:35]nothing about the lack of Courage by the other companions but when
[20:43]they're given the chance not once not twice but Thrice to go
[20:46]and fight and they refuse to do so what does that tell
[20:51]you about them what does that say about the courage of Ali
[20:54]that it was exclusive by the way a question that might come
[21:06]up is the companions composed of people who were Believers people who
[21:10]were Brave as well as believers who were not brave as well
[21:14]as downright Hypocrites what about the Believers why didn't they stand up
[21:22]why didn't they volunteer to go fight surely the companions included the
[21:27]likes ofar mikdad Salman Abu and others what about them why was
[21:31]it just Ali who went to face the answer is that the
[21:39]Hypocrites are over and done with right these people were afraid of
[21:48]getting killed because their entire scheme was to wait out the time
[21:51]of rasool Allah as we explained in one of the lectures so
[21:53]that he would die and they could then take over Islam and
[22:00]rest restore society's values back to the Pagan era that was their
[22:04]entire plot and so the last thing they wanted was to die
[22:08]they were disbelievers they didn't believe in God in heaven or hell
[22:13]so that was a portion of the companions they were Hypocrites then
[22:19]you have the Believers who were not courageous or Brave and the
[22:24]answer to that is quite obvious they did lack the courage they
[22:28]couldn't get up and face yes Heaven is guaranteed yes has promised
[22:33]so much but I just can't do it it's not in me
[22:36]as for the ones who were courageous True Believers among the companions
[22:43]the problem they had was that this was if you are facing
[22:51]let's say the Argentinian soccer team would you even bother showing up
[22:59]to the match you you wouldn't because you don't want to go
[23:02]and end up coming back and the results are 17 nil and
[23:07]embarrass your family and your tribe and your community even the likes
[23:12]of mikdad andar and so forth they knew they didn't have it
[23:16]in them to defeat so in all likelihood they expected to be
[23:22]killed and they might have felt that that would bring shame and
[23:26]humiliation to the Muslims if would dishearten the Muslims it would demoralize
[23:31]the Muslims if the Muslims were already so terrified of facing the
[23:36]pagans imagine if the first person to go and fight their iconic
[23:44]Warrior was killed and so it wouldn't do any good for the
[23:48]Muslim Community so we're not doubting their faith or their belief or
[23:51]even their courage it's just that they knew they didn't have it
[23:58]in them to fight the only one who did did was once
[24:01]again the context of this story which is mentioned in Sunni books
[24:09]and reports even prior to sh books the context tells you that
[24:14]Ali's courage was exclusive he was Brave to the exclusion of others
[24:20]not that he had 10% more bravery than everybody else keep that
[24:27]in mind so here's what happened listen to [Applause] this he speaks
[24:36]about the incident in some detail in a report he said that
[24:42]on that day when the holy prophet encouraged Muslims to go and
[24:47]fight and kept screaming asking for someone to go and challenge him
[24:51]the IM says no one would present themselves you know how children
[25:04]they like to show themselves in front of their parents when they
[25:09]have a play at school kids often want to have their parents
[25:14]in the audience because they want their parents to see them they
[25:18]want their parents to appreciate the skills that they have the things
[25:22]that they've learned right and so everybody surely had a desire to
[25:29]demonstrate their skill kills before but not when the enemy was the
[25:34]IM says no one had the desire to demonstrate anything they had
[25:41]because they knew it was a losing battle so the Imam came
[25:45]to the holy prophet and I'll read his actual words he says
[25:52]the prophet took his own turban which was referred to as what
[25:57]a beautiful name the cloud took off his own turban now let's
[26:04]just stop right there imagine imagine for argument sake that forget the
[26:10]events prior to this forget the events after forget forget imagine if
[26:16]had taken his turban off and placed it at top the head
[26:21]of any other companion especially one of their Idols would we even
[26:25]hear the end of it put his turban on the head of
[26:29]XYZ we'd never hear the end of it butool Allah took off
[26:36]his turban he then wrapped it around my head am says in
[26:40]fact he gives some vivid details he wrapped it around my head
[26:48]nine times that was the length of the prophet's turban the Imam
[26:55]showed his sword he said the prophet gave me his own sword
[27:01]and I came out to face he said when I went out
[27:16]everyone was observing the scene the women of Medina began crying out
[27:22]of sympathy with am this young man he has his own life
[27:25]ahead of him he's going to face which means they all feared
[27:33]that he'd be killed he's facing certain death listen to this he
[27:46]began walking towards I read out the poem of early on when
[27:49]he said why is there anyone no one to fight me now
[27:53]responded to him once again in verse he said I mean this
[28:04]is we're talking about not only is the poem so exhilaratingly beautiful
[28:08]the Imam uses the same Rhythm as the poem of so say
[28:19]the IM responds by saying he's saying to him don't be Hasty
[28:34]wait I'm responding to your call in other words you thought you
[28:41]were going to defeat us just give me a moment I'm reaching
[28:43]you not right now I'm not weak I'm not incapacitated just wait
[28:52]a moment the prophet waited in order to demonstrate The Bravery of
[28:59]Ali and his Superior ity it's not that we're weak or we
[29:03]lack courage I have pure intentions I have incredible foresight truth will
[29:16]save those who [Applause] Triumph just wait a moment I'm about to
[29:25]make people cry in your funeral I will strike you with my
[29:38]sword that will Echo throughout the generations allahar proceeded forward the Hadith
[29:48]says the Imam would constantly glorify Allah subhah wa tala allahar allahar
[29:58]I'd imagine that with every Allah was saying the heart of would
[30:04]tremble who was a Sunni historian he narrates the story like this
[30:11]he says that came to the first thing he did to him
[30:19]was the Imam said imagine the Imam is uh walking he doesn't
[30:22]have a ride he doesn't have a horse is sitting on top
[30:27]of that incredibly legendary horse which jumped over the moat the Imam
[30:32]looked at him he said to him would said to him I
[30:39]never thought I would see the day when someone doesn't recognize me
[30:44]obviously knew who it was had told him he had seen him
[30:48]but the IM is trying to break his spirit it's like I
[30:53]don't I don't even know who you are broke a little then
[30:58]he said then he said to the IM who are you the
[31:03]IM said immediately began to think of all the stories he'd heard
[31:16]about ali all those scenes began rolling through his head so in
[31:23]one report ofak he said to him oh you're the child that
[31:27]I used to see in in your father's lap your father was
[31:31]a friend of mine are you that kid again trying to belittle
[31:34]the Imam the Imam said to him yes I am he said
[31:39]well your father was a friend of mine I would hate to
[31:45]kill you the Imam said to him as for me I don't
[31:52]care I wish to kill you I don't have any qualms or
[31:54]reservations about killing you in another report he said this to him
[32:02]said to the IM he said my son my nephew again he's
[32:09]trying to appease to the Imam he said to him maybe there's
[32:11]somebody else who can come and fight me you have uncles who
[32:18]are older than you more established Fighters and warriors let one of
[32:22]them come and fight me for I would hate to spill your
[32:31]blood the Imam said to him as for me by God I
[32:37]have no issues with spilling your blood became Furious when the Imam
[32:45]said this he got off he jumped off the back of his
[32:50]horse he un sheathed his sword historians describe that moment the sword
[32:57]looked looking like a flame of fire many of the reports mention
[33:08]that when he faced is now willing to fight the IM the
[33:14]Imam said to him I have heard that you have made a
[33:21]vow near the Kaa once for one reason or another maybe to
[33:26]display his shiv he made a vow next to the Kaa that
[33:35]if anyone offers me three choices I will accept at least one
[33:38]of them so the Imam said to him I've heard you do
[33:43]this he said sure the Imam said then I give you three
[33:45]options to choose from the first is that you become a Muslim
[33:53]at every moment in his life the Imam is trying to guide
[34:01]people he knows he can send to the bottom of hell he
[34:04]knows he can kill the people in in saf in Jam in
[34:09]Nan but the imam's role is to guide people not to kill
[34:16]them you've all heard the story when in sa the Imam saw
[34:19]that Malik Asar was exhausted from fighting he said to him Malik
[34:25]how many people have you killed today he said 500 people the
[34:30]Imam said I also killed 500 people and so it seemed a
[34:37]bit odd that both Al and his student would each kill 500
[34:41]people and so the Imam said no oh Malik when you kill
[34:47]someone you kill any random fighter that comes your way as for
[34:50]me I look into their lineage down to Seven Generations if there
[34:58]is anyone who's worthy of being kept alive is if there is
[35:02]anyone who's going to possess faith and be a good man I
[35:07]spare that individual in other words I'm very selective about who I
[35:10]fight the Imam is trying to guide he's trying to lead he's
[35:13]not in the business of just killing people in spite of his
[35:19]unparalleled courage so the Imam said to him the first choice is
[35:22]that you become a Muslim he said absolutely not the huous the
[35:26]arrogance was too much for him to Simply surrender and become a
[35:31]Muslim the prophet said to him then the second choice is that
[35:34]you simply go back he said absolutely not everyone will say I
[35:37]was a coward I didn't fight you he said then the third
[35:42]choice that I'd like to present to you is you are riding
[35:47]on the back of a horse while I am a foot soldier
[35:49]and that's not a fair fight so he got off the back
[35:54]of his horse and using that sword which looked like a flame
[35:57]he cut off the arms and legs of his horse in other
[36:02]words there is this is the point of no return I'm not
[36:07]going back there I've Just Killed My Horse let's face each other
[36:13]now the commentator on he makes a lot of interesting points one
[36:21]of them is this he says when said to that I don't
[36:27]wish to fight you I don't want to spill your blood he
[36:35]wasn't sympathetic towards Ali or he wanted to preserve his life he
[36:46]was terrified of Ali he knows wh alali had killed in bad
[36:51]and and so the fight began when the battle erupted first struck
[37:03]his sword on Ali's head hitting the crown causing blood to gush
[37:10]out of the imam's head in fact they say that the strike
[37:19]of the accursed ABD rman M came on the wound of the
[37:27]strike of in the battle of and so it was more tender
[37:34]it was more vulnerable so struck ALB the blood gushed then the
[37:42]battle ensued there was a dust of cloud imagine Muslims are terrified
[37:47]Beyond description women are crying the enemy is rejoicing in the midst
[37:56]of all of this the dust of Cloud Rises no one can
[38:02]see what's happening in the ring the Quran describes the scene like
[38:06]this if verse number 10 Allah says that on the day when
[38:26]they attacked you from above and From Below you and the eyes
[38:31]began to roll that's how scared they were and the hearts reach
[38:40]the throat you know when you're absolutely terrified you know when you're
[38:46]so scared you can't even breathe anymore that was the state of
[38:50]the Muslims on that day the defeat of alali would have been
[38:57]a deci of defeat for Islam and of the religion of God
[39:03]which is why made the statement he said if you don't wish
[39:12]to be worshiped in you don't if you don't wish for this
[39:17]religion to continue to be preserved then this is the day this
[39:24]will end Islam alt together then the dust settled and everyone observed
[39:35]the scene was on the ground Al standing over him with his
[39:39]sword dripping with the blood of the Imam didn't even touch him
[39:53]nor his armor nor his possessions and that's an important point because
[39:57]later on when the IM returned of all the things that you
[40:03]could say to of instead of trying to justify why didn't you
[40:10]go and fight he said to the Imam why didn't you take
[40:16]his shield this is a unique Shield it's worth this and this
[40:19]Arabs speak of the legendary Shield of the Imam said I didn't
[40:24]want to take any of his possessions what are you talking about
[40:27]instead the Imam came back when he returned listen to this he
[40:32]recited another poem he said I am Ali the one who possesses
[40:42]this sword I am the one who holds the pond on the
[40:48]day of judgment I am the brother of I have a sign
[41:01]from the messenger he told me when he wrapped his turban around
[41:04]my head he told me that you are my brother the one
[41:14]who has unparalleled virtues and after me you will be my Imam
[41:21]ja ABD anari he says that when this event unfolded and Ali
[41:29]beat I was reminded of a verse in the Holy Quran he
[41:41]said he said I was reminded of the battle between David and
[41:48]Goliath this is Ali who defeated the entire Camp of the idolators
[41:53]not just which is why when the IM killed the camp of
[42:00]the idolators simply packed up and turned back to where they came
[42:04]from their computers all were fried up their brains couldn't think of
[42:15]another strategy their entire strategy was based on defeating the Muslims humiliating
[42:19]them breaking their spirit that obviously didn't work so let's hear what
[42:29]the other side has to say about all of this one of
[42:37]the most Sinister most evil and most common methods that they've employed
[42:44]in trying to downplay and trivialize the virtues of the is what
[42:50]I'd like to refer to as redaction right which I'll get to
[42:56]in a moment another methodology that they've employed another evil Ploy that
[43:04]they've used is that they say that they take the story out
[43:10]of its context as I said earlier they try to take away
[43:14]the exclusive nature of the imam's virtues so they tell the story
[43:19]and they say that on the day ofi killed before Muslims were
[43:30]all sitting down like a bird was nesting on their heads the
[43:33]prophet kept telling them why don't you go and fight's voice going
[43:38]horse all of these things they will redact them decontextualize the story
[43:45]omit some of the important elements in it so then at the
[43:53]end it comes down to Ali killed that's it it there's not
[43:56]much of a virtue in that am I right so that's one
[44:01]argument or one method they've employed the other and I've read this
[44:04]in some of their books it's unbelievable they say was an old
[44:09]man at the time of the battle ofab he was in his
[44:16]70s was a young man he was muscular he was wellb built
[44:24]he was fit right and so there's not much courage needed to
[44:29]fight a senior citizen someone who's in his 70s or 80s or
[44:34]' 90s even well here's my question to you if that's the
[44:37]case if wasn't much of a Challenger why would the Quran describe
[44:41]the scene as saying your hearts reached your throats why is it
[44:46]that no one got up and said well that's an elderly man
[44:50]I'll just poke him with my Spear and he'll fall over to
[44:52]his death why why was everyone So Silent why were they so
[44:56]quiet what happened to all these brave people if he truly was
[45:06]such a trivial Challenger IB uses another methodology he says the Hadith
[45:14]is weak classic classic way to reject any Hadith that you're uncomfortable
[45:20]with and we know that I T was incredibly uncomfortable when it
[45:24]came to the virtues of the so the Hadith doesn't have a
[45:31]strong chain of narrators they've employed this technique for centuries unfortunately we
[45:37]now have people who call themselves sh who employ the same technique
[45:43]you tell them a Hadith and it's like but what's the chain
[45:45]of the Hadith what do you even know about Chains man other
[45:49]than the chain you hang around your neck looking like a girl
[45:52]what do you know about chains what do you know about narrators
[45:55]what do you know about authenticating reports honestly what do you know
[46:01]about these things are you a scholar do you even know any
[46:03]of the individuals who reported the Hadith pack up and leave go
[46:08]home and so this is another tragedy that we face in this
[46:15]day and age says the Hadith chain is weak however the Hadith
[46:20]is reported by Alim andri in his must with an authentic chain
[46:24]that they acknowledge as an authentic chain he says ahed didn't narrate
[46:28]it with an authentic train who cares find it another book that's
[46:33]number one number two he says the other problem with the Hadith
[46:37]is how could say at the conclusion of the duel between and
[46:46]make his famous proclamation in other versions of the Hadith he said
[47:01]how could the prophet say this that the strike of is better
[47:07]than the acts and deeds and worships of both the ins humans
[47:10]as well as the Gin every single sensient being no matter how
[47:17]much we worship Allah no matter how much we worship no matter
[47:19]how much charity we give no matter how many Good Deeds we
[47:21]amass the single strike of Ali was better than all of this
[47:28]combined how could the prophet say this when there were worse enemies
[47:32]than the likes of ab J that's his argument and the answer
[47:41]to that is obvious who are you to object to the statement
[47:44]of Abu Jah was worse than or better than amid or better
[47:50]than Abu Bakr or worse than Abu B all these are irrelevant
[47:55]recognizes as does the Quran the decisive nature of this battle and
[48:01]says that the strike of was better than the acts of worship
[48:06]of everyone in existence because had it not been for that strike
[48:13]Islam would not exist the entirety of religion and Revelation would cease
[48:19]to exist I Abid says something interesting he says he quotes his
[48:25]teacher whose name was AB HUD or AB he says one day
[48:29]they asked my teacher again a Sunni they said to him who's
[48:31]better abak or ALB he said stop stop a single strike of
[48:40]Al AB Talib in the battle ofab was better than the actions
[48:47]of every living creature including all of the Companions and the UNS
[48:52]and the m a single strike of Ali was better than all
[48:57]of them put together let alone Abu Bakr himself are you joking
[49:04]now we've run out of time unfortunately I wanted to mention more
[49:12]examples inshallah maybe we'll be able to do that tomorrow of how
[49:17]the actions the virtues the merits of were exclusive to him exclusive
[49:24]made sure that they were exclusive the Battle of is another classic
[49:34]example of that without going into detail in and Muslim Muslim in
[49:41]particular mentions this story he says a guy who met the prophet
[49:49]for two years two years most are narrated from and was with
[49:54]since he was 2 years old he has less Traditions by far
[50:01]reported by the Sunni School than abur who only saw for 2
[50:04]years in the eth year after Hijra Allah died on the 10th
[50:12]year he met the pro he became a Muslim in the eighth
[50:14]year but he has more Hadith along with than all the other
[50:21]companions anyway this is just one manifestation of the oppression that they
[50:27]for fored upon that his opinion his quotes his reports of are
[50:34]to be dismissed but not ABI Hur the guy who used to
[50:37]play with cats in the street Abu Hur mentions the Hadith in
[50:42]sah Muslim he says said that tomorrow I will give the flag
[50:49]the standard to a he loves God and His messenger and God
[50:57]and His messenger love this man so alali came the prophet gave
[51:03]him the standard he said go forward and Conquer The Fortress of
[51:08]end of the story so you hear this as a non-muslim as
[51:13]a non Shia you read this report and what do you think
[51:20]to yourself okay wow great story Al Talib went and fought and
[51:24]he won but had the chance been given to Abu Bak it
[51:29]would be a completely different story because we know for a fact
[51:34]that Abu Bakr and Omar were better than Talib right if they'
[51:37]been given the chance simply picked alali at random had he given
[51:43]it to Abu Bakr you would have seen what Abu Bakr would
[51:48]have done am I right well tells the story in full I'm
[51:55]sorry to say he says that initially gave the standard to Abu
[51:59]Bakr go and fight prove yourself you've had some stains in the
[52:03]past we saw what happened to you in I'll give you another
[52:08]chance he goes with his companions his troops he's the commander they
[52:13]go and quickly come back what a scandal imagine an army goes
[52:24]off to battle then they come back and the army every single
[52:27]soldier says that our commander was a coward who did you send
[52:33]us with what kind of a commander is this guy I'm not
[52:35]saying this I'm not saying this his book called by the way
[52:45]is a completion of Muslim andari in other words he knows the
[52:50]standard by which Muslim and bukari would authenticate hadiths he knows the
[52:54]formula he knows all the people that they consider to be reliable
[53:00]he simply went out and F found the contexts of many of
[53:03]thesei that b and Muslim had conveniently redacted and omitted he simply
[53:09]brought the rest of the Hadith that's his crime right which is
[53:14]why now aabi and others say that he wasn't too careful with
[53:17]the authenticity of AI oh we know why he wasn't too careful
[53:22]cuz he exposed you as fools he showed your hypocrisy even though
[53:26]he's one of you so says that when they got back every
[53:31]single soldier said to the Prophet this guy's a coward he didn't
[53:36]even give us a chance and of course in return he would
[53:39]reciprocate the insult and he would say no you are the cowards
[53:44]I'm brave if you were more you know courageous we would have
[53:48]been able to to conquer the Fortress fine that's one guy completely
[53:55]eliminated and humil humiliated said come you've got a bunch of dark
[54:03]stains in your history as well again and all that so I'll
[54:06]give you another chance take the standard go fight he went back
[54:09]before he even reached the Fortress they came running back [Music] to
[54:18]unbelievable what a scandalous situation his troops were saying he's a coward
[54:27]he's saying their his troops are cowards theno said tomorrow I shall
[54:36]give the standard to a man who loves God and His messenger
[54:39]and God and His messenger love him then listen to this he
[54:47]attacks and goes forward but doesn't Retreat and run from Battle which
[54:53]is a reference to those two redact these two parts and you
[55:02]end up with was sent to he conquered it came back clap
[55:05]clap but with this context it shows the exclusive nature of the
[55:15]virtues of ALB Abu Bakr said he said I've never desired to
[55:20]be given a position like the day I wanted to be this
[55:25]man that said God loves him he loves God he attacks he
[55:32]doesn't retreat but you were already given a chance for crying out
[55:36]loud how many times do you want to subject yourself to humiliation
[55:42]honestly anyone else would have just bowed their head in shame and
[55:47]gone back home so that night they all spent it awake historians
[55:51]once again go into detail they all stayed up waiting to know
[55:55]who this person is as if it's a surprise we we've come
[56:01]14 centuries later and having known a little bit about the virtues
[56:05]of and we know who it's going to be but the reason
[56:12]perhaps they were unsure as to who that person would be is
[56:15]because was sick at the time the IM had which is a
[56:20]sickness where his eyes become inflamed was so oppressed one day he
[56:24]said this he saw a man who was screaming in the middle
[56:30]of the marketplace the IM said to him come come come sit
[56:35]next to me I've been oppressed since the day I was born
[56:41]the Imam then gave him one example he says my brother a
[56:47]had a disease in his eyes was older than by about 20
[56:52]years no less so he didn't like medicines he didn't like to
[56:57]be treated with medications in his eye so he nagged and he's
[57:02]like I don't want this so they would put the medication in
[57:03]my perfectly healthy eye so that would agree to have the medication
[57:10]poured in his eye I've been oppressed since the day I was
[57:14]born Subhan Allah I'm oppressed the size and the number of every
[57:24]Pebble in the world that's the level of my oppression so the
[57:30]Imam had an eye infection when the prophet said bring me Ali
[57:35]everyone was shocked Ali is sick so they brought am the prophet
[57:42]blew into the eyes of Ali and they were immediately instantaneously healed
[57:47]the Imam then gave him the standard and the rest as they
[57:53]say is history he put everyone to shame and yet they treated
[57:58]him the way they did to the point that would say Salam
[58:05]to people and they wouldn't even reply to him I might have
[58:13]mentioned this before Amir came to the house she was Ill she
[58:16]was in her deathbed as soon as she saw the Imam she
[58:22]began crying why do you cryan she saidah Hassan I'm crying because
[58:34]of your strangeness your loneliness after mebar whose ribs are broken whose
[58:44]every breath brings excruciating pain who was oppressed herself she's crying for
[58:55]the oppression of and so on these nights when Amir was dying
[59:00]he had been dying since the day they ambushed the home of
[59:06]fa since that day am died his Earthly death came on these
[59:15]nights he was now ready to meet F once again he was
[59:22]yearning for this he was longing for the moment of his death
[59:26]death which is why he looked up at the last moment of
[59:34]his life he looked up in the direction of a corner of
[59:39]the room and he said peace be upon you oh messengers of
[59:45]my Lord he then said let those who do things do what
[59:55]they can for this this is what you get when you live
[60:01]a life of virtue a life of religiosity a life of Faith
[60:08]the Imam then started to say Salam toool who had come to
[60:14]greet him to his uncle Hamza to his brother jaar and I'm
[60:17]sure faat zah was also there expecting her husband Amir to go
[60:26]but before he departed Amir gathered his children and he began to
[60:35]give them words of advice to impart his will so he spoke
[60:37]to his son Imam Hassan then Imam Hussein then lady Zab then
[60:49]to Muhammad until the Imam reached his Soni one of the things
[60:55]the Imam said to him was this he said to him bu
[61:00]my sweetheart my son there will come a day when you are
[61:03]presented with water but your brother is thirsty allahar that day came
[61:11]when they called upon cried he said where are our nephews AB
[61:23]Abbas refused to respond to him IM Hussein said reply to him
[61:31]IM Hussein wants people to know who was so he said go
[61:37]and see what he has to say said yes my master he
[61:45]never addressed his brother as brother it was always he came into
[61:52]this world and his mother raised him and his brothers to be
[61:55]Servants of their brother to be martyred in his sake to be
[62:03]waterbearers for his children AB went to sh he said to him
[62:09]what do you want he said I have good news I bear
[62:16]Glad Tidings I have a pledge of immunity from the governor for
[62:19]you and your Three Brothers you don't have to get killed here
[62:23]you can take this immunity and go home how did respond to
[62:30]him he said may God curse you and your immunity you wish
[62:47]to give us immunity when the son of the prophet's daughter is
[62:53]unsafe and has no immunity which is why on the day of
[62:59]a after everyone had been killed AB came to his brother he
[63:08]said to him my chest feels constricted because of these Hypocrites and
[63:24]what they've done in other words I can't take it anymore would
[63:30]you give me permission to go and avenge our Martyrs from them
[63:41]let me go and fight them IM Hussein said to him my
[63:45]little brother you are my standard bear eror you are my Onan
[64:00]Army if you get killed I will be left without an army
[64:06]the women will have no protector [Music] anymore kept asking and pleading
[64:18]in the end he might have been saying to the Imam I
[64:22]can't bear to hear the voices of the little girl your daughter
[64:28]is saying [Music] so if you must go then go and fetch
[64:46]water for these children headed towards the battlefield he reached the water
[64:58]he might have remembered what told him on his deathbed he threw
[65:04]the water back into the stream he then came out of the
[65:13]river the enemy were murmuring and whispering to each other if he
[65:18]drinks that will be the end of all of us why didn't
[65:23]he drink why didn't he quench his thirst he then responded to
[65:31]their questions saying oh ABB you are nothing after Hussein how could
[65:50]you taste the water when he is thirsty he headed towards the
[66:05]tent he had the water container he also was fighting with the
[66:12]sword as he headed towards the battlefield an arrow reached his eye
[66:20]blinding it a man struck his right arm AR another struck his
[66:28]left arm Al Abbas was still intent on reaching the battle all
[66:36]he cared about was the water that is when an arrow pierced
[66:44]the container and Spilled the water to the ground this is when
[66:49]Abbas simply sto how does he return to the tent without water
[67:01]how does he fight without hands how does he proceed without his
[67:18][Music] eye that is when Abbas called out to his brother for
[67:29]the first time he said to him brother come to me IM
[67:40]Hussein rushed to his brother they began running away from him like
[67:47]a raging Eagle chasing its prey the IM said to them where
[67:59]do you flee when you have killed my brother when the IM
[68:05]reached him he called out way
