[0:00][Music] okay so yesterday we went half through the first half of
[0:16]this little uh water to down version of the the barzak course
[0:21]um i'll just go over what we went through yesterday very quickly
[0:24]first we talked about the essence of death itself how we can
[0:27]always look at it as an end to everything or we can
[0:31]look at it as rebirth based on our hadith and the way
[0:34]they paint the picture for us the only way to make it
[0:37]to actual freedom we have to shed this material body there's no
[0:42]other choice the same way for us to come into this life
[0:43]and uh enjoy all the stuff this life has to offer us
[0:48]for that we had to eventually be born from our mothers and
[0:52]come out mommy's tummy the same way we have to be reborn
[0:56]again for akhirah or for bazaar or else it's all limitation it's
[1:02]all hardship it's all restriction and we say when we say this
[1:04]life is all hardship and restriction not just when you get sick
[1:08]not when you lose something or you lose a loved one no
[1:09]no just the fact that we have to eat drink survive go
[1:13]to the bathroom after we eat all that kind of that's all
[1:17]hardship trust me okay the angels are looking at us from above
[1:20]and feeling sorry for us like man these people how they do
[1:24]it right for us to get out of this we have to
[1:26]shut that skin that skin and for that that skin what i
[1:29]mean by it is that material body there's no other way around
[1:31]it so if you look at it like this the only way
[1:33]to get to the destination where the good stuff is actually happening
[1:37]if that that's what it is then there is there is a
[1:41]potential here for us to actually not hate it so much and
[1:44]dislike it that was one thing we discussed we discussed the final
[1:48]moments and how it's not the case that everyone no matter how
[1:51]good they were are going to suffer upon death and those final
[1:55]moments no the worst that happens to a movement based on our
[1:58]hadiths that we went through is that they might grieve and veil
[2:03]and wail excuse me and be upset as the hadith said but
[2:07]then melaku will lift the veils from this person i this person's
[2:12]eyes and show them that the holy prophet is there that the
[2:15]imams are there waiting and so this person slowly becomes more accepting
[2:20]of death which is interesting we'll have a hadith later as well
[2:23]that we'll get into that melakul why should he care about us
[2:27]being ready or not i thought it was time to go it's
[2:27]time to go so that itself shows how much respect the man
[2:32]has we also looked at our quranic verses you know that book
[2:36]called the quran yeah there's this book called the quran in there
[2:39]the verses speak about how uh those who die mean they die
[2:44]with you know in impurity which means that they tried their best
[2:49]to obey allah in this life these people the angels tell them
[2:56]and these kinds of things are are said to this person upon
[3:03]death upon taking the soul there's nothing for you to worry about
[3:06]then why is it that we've been taught all our lives that
[3:09]no matter what when death comes we are all going to suffer
[3:12]with three hours at that why yeah so this idea doesn't really
[3:21]read with quranic verses this doesn't read with a hadith that we
[3:25]have and yes it all is related to our actions and how
[3:28]good we were here someone might say are you telling me i
[3:30]have to be no you don't have to be mason but try
[3:33]your best if you fail get back up on your feet we
[3:35]always say this we always talk about this these people when they
[3:39]die it's not going to be hard in sha allah why is
[3:41]it that some okay if if if what all that matters is
[3:44]how good or bad we were when we're leaving this dunya then
[3:48]why is it that we see some righteous people have hard deaths
[3:52]and some evil people have not so hard deaths for example hitler
[3:57]if it's true that he committed suicide at the end of his
[4:00]life when they almost had him when they almost had him what
[4:04]did he do they say he committed suicide how he probably shot
[4:06]himself in the head or something right that's not suffering one second
[4:10]you're alive the next second you're dead finished you don't feel any
[4:15]pain some people might ask well if heart if if righteousness is
[4:18]what matters for us to have an easy death he also had
[4:21]an easy death the answer was first of all it depends on
[4:25]what your definition of death is you don't see when the angel
[4:29]is actually taking his soul out what's going on with this person
[4:30]first of all second of all sometimes there are some evil people
[4:35]out there who will have easy deaths the way we see it
[4:39]it might seem easy why because they have some good that they've
[4:41]done in this life allah wants to make sure he pays them
[4:44]back here so they don't have anything to say in yamal qiyamah
[4:47]right and finally last night we ended with this theological discussion of
[4:53]will the final repentance in those final moments will it be of
[4:58]any of any good and any avail for this person so it's
[5:00]not possible even if allah wanted as if it's not possible why
[5:05]because the whole point of us coming into this life is that
[5:10]it is proven to us that allah is there that the quran
[5:14]is to be followed for example the prophets are to be followed
[5:18]and they have a promise that they come to us with what
[5:22]is that promise a promise of jannah or jahannam so i haven't
[5:26]seen janna i haven't seen jahannam but i know it's coming that's
[5:31]the whole test right there am i going to do what i
[5:33]need to do although i'm going to get the results later or
[5:37]am i going to am i going to stick to the now
[5:38]am i going to listen to nike and just do it no
[5:43]no not necessarily yeah i'm going to wait for the akhira to
[5:48]come and i'm going to invest in my akhira that's the whole
[5:53]test so if the veils are being lifted when i'm dying and
[5:55]then i'm like oh darn it looks like it's for real you
[5:58]know oh it's that bad well the quran had told you it's
[6:02]that bad but you hadn't seen it but now that you see
[6:03]it like oh no i don't think i want to go through
[6:05]that oh astough for allah that was too bad because it's not
[6:09]going to it's not going to contribute to your growth this iman
[6:11]iman contributes to your growth yeah when it's done the way it
[6:17]was supposed to be done at the right time and that's before
[6:18]veils were lifted or else if that's gonna work and when the
[6:22]veils are lifted we have an opportunity to fix everything up brother
[6:25]sisters wouldn't that we didn't need to come to this life to
[6:30]begin with if i have a chance after the veils are lifted
[6:33]in those last moments doesn't make sense for me to uh for
[6:37]allah to bring us into this life in the first place might
[6:41]as well lift the veils from the beginning instead of letting all
[6:44]this bloodshed happen all these problems in this on this planet happen
[6:46]and then he gives us a chance well why not avoid all
[6:50]of that and just show us everything and remove the veils from
[6:53]the beginning and if you're going to remove the veils from the
[6:55]beginning then don't even bring us here just take it straight to
[7:00]jannah yeah some people that's how lazy they can get when they
[7:02]want something good there's a you know every country has their culture
[7:05]and in every country there are certain cities that people are from
[7:10]that if you tell them you're from that city they'll they'll know
[7:12]you for something specific oh they're laughing oh you're from that city
[7:15]haha because the people of that city aren't very smart anyway there's
[7:19]some of those in iran as well and we have we have
[7:21]some of those cities and some there's some clips that come out
[7:25]sometimes you know others mocking people of that city whatever i want
[7:29]to give you this example there are some people after their salah
[7:33]they say oh allah you know what i want make it happen
[7:35]that's how lazy they are well there's a couple of things you
[7:38]want ask for it that was the point of du'a that you
[7:41]speak to allah not that after salah is over you're like oh
[7:45]allah there's things i want you know what they are make it
[7:48]happen i mean it's better than nothing but still like that's how
[7:50]lazy some people can get yeah so if allah was gonna lift
[7:54]the veils in the end he could have just lifted them in
[7:56]the beginning and if he was gonna lift them in the beginning
[7:57]he didn't have to even bring us here to begin with all
[8:00]right so that's something to think about now moving on to today's
[8:06]discussion um let's start with the salawat please the angel of death
[8:13]how terrifying is he well since pop culture is always right let's
[8:19]see what they say what does he look like he's dressed in
[8:22]black the angel of death and he's holding a scythe right and
[8:29]you can you can't see his face which makes it even scarier
[8:32]it's a hoodie and usually you see him in the uh special
[8:38]nights of halloween and so this is the one that comes to
[8:41]take your soul why because death is so bad anything that's going
[8:45]to lead to death is also probably bad and so the angel
[8:50]of death must be bad if the grave is a dark place
[8:54]then the grim reaper should also be dark scary all that kind
[8:57]of stuff yeah but of course we all know that's not the
[9:01]case we have to understand at the end of day this is
[9:03]one of the greatest angels of allah that allah exercises the quality
[9:07]of al-mumeet through him as meaning the one who takes the souls
[9:12]and so if allah is exercising this grand action of imata and
[9:19]taking life through him it shows not just a normal angel one
[9:22]of the special angels of allah and if they are an angel
[9:26]angels as you all know they're not even material beings to begin
[9:29]with so what does that mean they don't have a specific form
[9:31]all the time necessarily and if that's the case then we can
[9:37]understand why for some people medical mode is look good looking for
[9:41]others he's very bad looking why because he doesn't even have a
[9:45]form of his own and this is where scholars i'm skipping the
[9:47]explanations and reasoning for these things just giving you the results the
[9:50]fruit of their discussions they say that yes if you were bad
[9:57]and then angel of death is gonna also be bad he's a
[9:58]reflection of you brothers and sisters we gotta understand you are what
[10:02]you do not you are what you eat you are what you
[10:06]do everything on the other side is going to be reflection of
[10:08]me what i did here my actions what medical mode looks like
[10:14]what the question in the grave is going to be like what
[10:16]jannah looks like all of that is a result of me what
[10:19]i've done my actions we've got to understand that i'm not gonna
[10:21]we fear allah we say we have to have fear of allah
[10:24]but in reality we have to fear our own actions we talked
[10:27]about this last night one of the questions that was asked in
[10:30]the end of the session that uh is it the po are
[10:34]we getting punished for what we did in this life or is
[10:36]the punishment the exact thing that we did in this life of
[10:42]bad yeah and the answer was number two what we do what
[10:44]we do here is we see the same thing and another lens
[10:46]and another light over there all right so i don't want to
[10:49]go back to that anyway angel of death is no exception to
[10:54]this rule he is also going to be the way he is
[10:55]as a result of my own actions so when i look at
[10:57]him like oh my god you ugly in reality it's like i'm
[11:01]looking in the mirror and i'm looking at myself and saying that
[11:03]you you get me and so here these hadiths that we're going
[11:09]to get into because we have no other way it says here
[11:10]hadith can only tell us what he looks like why because you
[11:14]can't put him under a microscope you can only see understand things
[11:18]beyond the grave through the hadith that tell us and disclose to
[11:22]us some of the things that happen on the other side also
[11:27]we have no other access to knowing what's going on all right
[11:31]so we have to see what these hadiths say i have about
[11:35]four or five hadith here i want to share with you before
[11:39]i get into it there's a story but i'd say his name
[11:44]is he's one of my heroes he's in com he's buried next
[11:49]to allamah and he's known for his his purity and it's very
[11:55]it's a very very famous story those you know farsi those of
[11:58]you who know far who know farsi you can just google it
[12:01]the story will come up but you know we would hear this
[12:02]back in the day as well that was one of the ones
[12:07]who had who had seen the angel of death and then he
[12:11]had said that hey he's pretty good looking actually angel of allah
[12:16]so i'm going to share some of these hadith with you for
[12:19]the good side of him and the bad side of him and
[12:23]then we can just ball up that understanding of uh melakul mother
[12:27]he's a nasty ugly fearful creature ball it up to toss it
[12:31]out and we're going to have our own perspective coming from our
[12:33]sources no halloween stuff all right so the first hadith i want
[12:40]to share with you that it says they both said that prophet
[12:43]ibrahim and it's interesting these stories that i'm going to share with
[12:46]you most of them have to do with prophet ibrahim entered his
[12:49]home and found someone there with the most beautiful of faces he
[12:52]had never seen before yeah these are famous hadiths he asked who
[12:57]are you and one of the hadith said that he uh he
[13:00]had some like hey what's a good good looking guy doing in
[13:04]my house you know yeah the hadith actually said that who are
[13:09]you and he's like putting history like who are you you know
[13:12]we're going to have to like fight this one out he says
[13:15]he answered and prophet ibrahim said subhanallah who wouldn't want to be
[13:20]close to you or to meet you if this is what you
[13:23]look like so you you tell me who are we going to
[13:25]follow prophet ibrahim or other people islam in another hadith he says
[13:31]when allah took prophet ibrahim his friend because you know prophet ibrahim
[13:35]had different stages in his life one of the verses of the
[13:41]quran says that allah is his friend yeah another part he says
[13:47]imam so these are different stages prophet ibrahim went through and the
[13:51]quran tells us the story of these different stages that he put
[13:57]behind him here it says when prophet ibrahim was taken and says
[14:00]the angel of death came to him with the glad tidings oh
[14:02]so the angel of death can sometimes have good news too of
[14:07]being chosen but he came in the form of a beautiful youth
[14:12]wearing two white garments and it says here now this is interesting
[14:17]i don't have the arabic but it's there it's in the hadith
[14:20]this is kind of funny it says that uh well my interpretation
[14:22]of it is probably a little funny it says he was so
[14:26]fresh that it was as if water and oil was dripping from
[14:30]his head so i call it the slick look okay that you
[14:34]know it's that look that's very attractive like you know he puts
[14:37]his hair back after you came out of the swimming pool that
[14:40]kind of thing the slick look this has oil and water as
[14:44]if was dripping from his head and he's a youth wearing two
[14:48]white garments prophet ibrahim meets like this the holy prophet salallahu alaihi
[14:55]was asked how does the angel of death take the life of
[14:57]the believer to which he replied verily when the time of death
[15:01]arrives and this is a crazy one man the angel of death
[15:05]stands next to the believer like a humble slave angel of death
[15:09]like a humble slave in my presence look at how much respect
[15:15]a mu'min has in the eyes of allah it says like a
[15:20]humble slave in the presence of his master so remember a few
[15:24]minutes ago we were talking about how the angel of death he
[15:30]could he should it should be the case that he cares less
[15:34]if you're ready or not to go right yet it's as if
[15:39]he's getting he's making sure you are slowly ushered into death you're
[15:43]slowly made you can make your way in without too much fear
[15:45]look around you look at the prophet look at the imma around
[15:49]you and slowly the moment himself or herself decides and accepts this
[15:54]this reality so the question there is why would the angel of
[15:57]death care isn't he supposed to be mean no to the believer
[16:00]according to this hadith it's like he's he comes like a slave
[16:05]in the presence of the master these are the things that usually
[16:10]we don't hear like oh melakuloma can be good then it says
[16:14]prophet ibrahim met an angel this is the most famous one you've
[16:15]probably heard this one met an angel and asked him who he
[16:19]was to which he replied the angel of death once again you
[16:20]see his prophet ibrahim in these stories he asked him if he
[16:24]could show him what he looks like when he takes the soul
[16:27]of a believer and the angel agreed to do so he told
[16:30]prophet ibrahim to look away for a moment and he did i
[16:33]mean you know even superman he asked for a phone booth right
[16:35]prophet ibrahim don't see how i do it look away for a
[16:40]second and then look back prophet looks away looks back when he
[16:42]looked back the angel was a beautiful youth with beautiful clothing beautiful
[16:44]features smelling very nice he said to the angelo angel of death
[16:49]if one was only to see you like this that the beauty
[16:51]of that you have it would be enough for them of you
[16:54]know the pleasures of jannah so then prophet ibrahim says can i
[16:59]see what you look like when you take the soul of the
[17:02]evil ones so you see right here the distinction is made there's
[17:06]a distinction made for me it looks like that brothers if that's
[17:11]how it's brothers and sisters that's how it starts as i said
[17:16]last night angel of death isn't going to fool us come to
[17:20]us with come to a believer with a nice appearance and then
[17:23]we say okay i'm ready to go he's like yes i got
[17:25]you now i'll beat you up that's not how it works that's
[17:29]if this is the start the the end is going to be
[17:30]better probably as it goes on it's going to be better probably
[17:34]yes there might be one or two more uncomfortable moments that a
[17:39]person might have will get to other than that it's about it
[17:42]really all right so he asked the angel i want to see
[17:46]what you look like when you take this the soul of the
[17:49]evil ones so the angel tells him you can't bear it don't
[17:54]do this yet he insists and so the angel says look away
[17:57]once again he looks away looks back saw a dark man with
[17:59]hair standing up foul smelling clad in black clothing with fire and
[18:04]smoke coming out of his nostrils and mouth and so prophet ibrahim
[18:07]fainted the hadith says and after he regained his conscience the angel
[18:10]of death had returned to his normal state and the prophet told
[18:14]him if all the evil one goes through is seeing you like
[18:18]this that's enough for them you know sometimes we get angry at
[18:23]you know husband or wife that's you know you're one of our
[18:27]relatives he would tell his wife you are such an angel and
[18:30]we're like oh wow like our uncle like he's a he's a
[18:32]very good uh man of uh the family he's uh telling his
[18:35]wife that his wife's an angel and then he would complete his
[18:37]sentence at the end here then he's such an angel angel of
[18:43]death so here it says if this is all you see if
[18:48]this is all what the evil one sees and goes through seeing
[18:53]you like this is enough for them that's big so the angel
[19:01]of death can be not uh pleasant when we look at them
[19:05]it can be a pleasant scene that we see and can sometimes
[19:08]be the exact opposite it all depends on our actions again actions
[19:11]actions actions in this life all right death means you don't come
[19:18]back so if you had a near-death experience i know they saw
[19:23]so some people they say they saw a very beautiful thing person
[19:26]some will call him jesus someone call him ali yeah it depends
[19:31]on your faith you know you know seriously like near-death experiences they're
[19:35]not all muslims but then they say we saw something beautiful but
[19:38]see so this person had a death but he had they had
[19:41]a good experience so what's going on well first of all we
[19:44]talked about you know people of other faiths last night as well
[19:46]someone asked this question people have other faiths what's going to happen
[19:49]to them that's between them and allah who says that every non-muslim
[19:51]goes to hell i allama tabata he makes this point clear that
[19:55]that's not the case but anyway some people will be confused well
[19:59]how come they're having a good experience we thought death was going
[20:01]to be hard well death is going to be hard if you're
[20:04]not going to come back we call it death when you don't
[20:06]come back so if you do come back it was a near-death
[20:08]experience you the body or the soul will experience certain things but
[20:12]who says that it was going to always be like that no
[20:15]no maybe some i think i think we have hadith for this
[20:18]as well that when you die or yet he says whoever dies
[20:24]will see me so one of these scholars once he was explaining
[20:27]he said it means that when you die allah is going to
[20:30]show you what you could have become as if and you're like
[20:35]wow but then he shows you what you actually became like oh
[20:38]my god no that part maybe doesn't happen in near-death experiences right
[20:42]because near-death experiences are not death if allah knows you're not going
[20:46]to come back then he's going to show you everything yeah so
[20:49]for us for us it's not about the heart necessarily it's about
[20:53]whether the soul is there or not so if the heart goes
[20:56]you know it goes straight line but then they bring them back
[20:59]well that apparently shows that there was still a link between the
[21:02]soul and the body it wasn't a total disconnection yeah the heart
[21:05]stopped but the soul hasn't been collected yet the thing the problem
[21:07]with us is that we think it's the brain and the heart
[21:11]that's it right but from a metaphysical perspective it's all about the
[21:15]soul did the soul get disconnected in a way that it's not
[21:16]going to come back that's death if not it's not death but
[21:20]don't even go there guys go here go say hey jesus during
[21:23]prophet isaiah's time and it's christmas by the way prophet isaiah's time
[21:28]he would bring back from the dead so what's that all about
[21:32]that that's a person whose soul had uh or what's the verse
[21:36]it says that i bring back from the dead that is the
[21:39]place that their soul had actually detached yeah so it's allah can
[21:42]always do certain things yeah there's always exceptions to the rules out
[21:47]there but the rule is this what we're talking about right now
[21:52]for a normal person okay let's move on to the baraz now
[21:56]this is something that um some people don't know about some people
[22:01]well verses of the quran even say this just like the verse
[22:02]we had yesterday was it yeah salam alaikum and so when we
[22:17]see that we're like okay jannah means the heaven of the hereafter
[22:22]but that's not the case yes the term jannah is used sometimes
[22:27]the term nar is used yeah but it's talking about the badazaka
[22:33]sometimes brothers and sisters we are on a journey and this journey
[22:40]has different levels of existence that we go through the lowest level
[22:43]of existence is the material realm that we're in but slowly we
[22:47]grow out of it as and we're reborn into the barazakh and
[22:52]after the barazakh we are it's just growth upon growth upon growth
[22:58]right we have to go through these stages to reach that point
[23:01]that allah wants us to reach and that's why some say that
[23:06]the verse of the quran is talking about these stages when it
[23:09]says you are laboring towards your lord laboriously yeah it's not an
[23:19]easy journey at the end of the day just the fact that
[23:21]we're alive here we talked about this yesterday it's hard it's not
[23:24]easy to live in this life yeah and so this is the
[23:28]first part i mean there's steps and steps that we're going to
[23:30]be taking barazakh is one of those steps where we shed off
[23:35]the material body it's also referred to as the mithal and we
[23:40]will still have bodies but they're called barazi bodies now philosophy talks
[23:46]about this a hadith also talk about this okay i want to
[23:50]share with you some of these hadith or verses of the quran
[23:53]before i actually talk about the bodies is there a verse in
[23:57]the quran that actually mentions yes there is there are some that
[24:02]imply it and there are some that directly mention it some meaning
[24:07]one and that is surah i think universe 100 if i'm not
[24:10]mistaken yeah it says when death comes to one of them he
[24:16]says my lord rabbi send me back oh allah like now the
[24:21]veils have gone aside i'm like oh my god one salawat would
[24:23]give me all this i could have been banking right now right
[24:27]guys like if you park your car and you're like walking to
[24:30]like the store and it's like a 30 second walk 30 seconds
[24:33]you can turn that into cash yes time is money yeah okay
[24:38]it can be money you can turn it into that make the
[24:42]most of our time i'm sitting the bus on the train or
[24:44]something i don't know do we do trains anymore i don't know
[24:47]um so yeah like you make the most of the time like
[24:51]why not just at least one or two solo you know something
[24:53]like that so when this person sees what's happening he says take
[24:59]me back i could invest more into my akhira so it says
[25:05]that i may act righteously in what i have left behind what's
[25:08]the answer yeah no way you can't this is something this person
[25:23]is wishing for and saying it's not going to happen sorry until
[25:36]the day they are resurrected and allah says this verse shows us
[25:39]everyone has to go through the barzach that's just part of our
[25:43]growth part of our journey and of becoming who we really are
[25:47]gonna be in the akhirah and this is how well i'll talk
[25:52]about this later when we get to the questioning actually let's leave
[25:53]that for now so that's a verse that mentions and names what
[25:59]about hadith i'll share one hadith very famous with you as well
[26:02]that's a person by the name of ahmed bin yasid who tells
[26:05]imam aslan i heard you saying that all the shia are in
[26:09]paradise regardless of what they've done said yeah you heard right by
[26:16]allah they're all in paradise so we're like okay good there is
[26:20]such a thing as free passes it says but may i be
[26:24]your sacrifice indeed there are many sins and great sins out there
[26:26]that the shia are performing yeah and imam saw that he says
[26:32]as for the hereafter all of you will be in jannah through
[26:37]the intercession of the obeyed prophet or a successor of the prophet
[26:38]but by allah i fear for you of the baraz that's what
[26:44]i'm scared for you guys don't be like oh so janna's taken
[26:48]care of and yama qiyamah all right we'll be patient we'll be
[26:53]patient in this uh barazakh and we'll go through the hardship and
[26:58]we'll get all the good stuff in the qiyamah no when imam
[27:00]has saw the fears for something because he knows what it's all
[27:05]about no one's supposed to say oh you know we'll we'll we'll
[27:08]wait it out we'll be patient in the barzak and we'll make
[27:11]it in no don't do that one second of barzak if the
[27:15]hadith says compared to dunya is like a whole desert and a
[27:20]speck of sand in it this whole universe which constitutes the dunya
[27:24]the material realm of existence compared to barzakh is like a needle
[27:29]in a haystack is like a speck of sand in the desert
[27:31]how big is that and how small is that huh and then
[27:36]someone's gonna be like oh i'm cool with the bars you know
[27:38]no let me see you hold your hand over over a match
[27:43]for three seconds if you can't you ain't ready for berserk better
[27:48]here is point being mentioned in this hadith that we have other
[27:51]hadith and it's one of those things that is widely accepted in
[27:57]islam and sunni that there is a baraz and in that bazaar
[28:01]things happen so someone will say okay and you're telling us that
[28:07]we have bodies um and we'll talk about the hadith that say
[28:09]that so what is the address to this place probably the bermuda
[28:13]triangle they say bermuda triangle is where imam zaman is that's where
[28:17]the barzakh is all the things that we have not figured out
[28:20]it's in that triangle but the truth of the matter is the
[28:26]barazakh in this same hadith that i just read to you he
[28:31]asks the imam it says what is the barzaq says the grave
[28:35]from death to the day of resurrection so there is no location
[28:40]for it that you can you know find no it is it
[28:44]referring to another realm it exists right now and it is encompassing
[28:48]us a fish in water if you ask it up right if
[28:54]you ask a fish that's in water hey what's water he look
[28:55]at you like what are you talking about because it's engulfed in
[29:00]water we are engulfed in the barzakh we don't know it barazak
[29:05]encompasses us and we think we're kings of the world or something
[29:07]right little do we know that everyone else out there is just
[29:10]looking at us and feeling sorry for us because there's nothing going
[29:14]on here really and so if the barzak is this great and
[29:18]it is beyond the material realm there's no address for it as
[29:23]if oh that's where the souls are hanging out you know let's
[29:25]get to the hadiths now that talk about us having bodies i
[29:32]have three hadith here that actually say that you do have a
[29:34]badazaki body now someone might say well body means a physical body
[29:40]right no it doesn't mean that allah makes this very clear he
[29:43]says he says that the barazakh you have bodies but not bodies
[29:51]that are matterless not made of matter and so the same way
[29:57]you look in the mirror and you see yourself but does that
[30:00]weird mirror like i weigh 250 pounds or something do it does
[30:03]that mirror not weigh 250 pounds no but it's an image of
[30:08]me something like that okay once again we can't figure it out
[30:10]because we are down attached to this life but in your dreams
[30:14]that thing that's actually chasing you is about as is they will
[30:19]tell you that's a methadi being right that you're dreaming about or
[30:22]you're the person that you're seeing in your dream okay but doesn't
[30:26]mean that your your head now weighs a lot or your soul
[30:30]i don't know whatever there's something actually chasing you somewhere else no
[30:33]it's another realm okay having said that let me read this hadith
[30:36]for you that islam said when allah takes the soul of the
[30:39]believer he takes it to the gardens and gives it an appearance
[30:43]similar to the believer's own appearance oh imam the souls of believers
[30:52]and bodies like their own bodies it says here another hadith the
[30:57]souls of the believers have character characteristics of bodies in the bazaar
[31:02]they have characteristics of bodies so there is an appearance apparently we
[31:06]don't have the senses to see those barazi bodies but like have
[31:12]you heard about some of these great some of these great scholars
[31:15]some of these great aesthetics that you hear their stories about how
[31:21]they had barazakhi site or barazaki vision and no it's not in
[31:25]any marvel movies okay it's an actual thing then they see you
[31:30]they can see people the way they really are their true color
[31:34]what they are in the barzah of course they choose not to
[31:37]yet it's there and so does that mean that as i walk
[31:41]as a human being i'm also a pig yes and no for
[31:46]one who can see they might see a pig they might see
[31:49]an animal because that's how much i have trained myself but for
[31:53]others i'm a human being all washed up all prim and proper
[31:57]wearing a nice suit and all that there's more the brother says
[32:00]there's more of these outlines in the back for those of you
[32:03]who need one okay if that's what we're looking like in the
[32:07]bar zach what is going on in the bazaar i've left that
[32:13]for after questioning of the grave i think i'll leave it for
[32:17]that let's leave it let's do it for that all right so
[32:19]that's this segment about the barzak itself what it is why is
[32:23]it even necessary what what do we look like there yes all
[32:27]of these things we have the ones who believe in you know
[32:30]what you know for us the twelve verses with the beliefs that
[32:33]we have yeah that uh the holy prophet and then after him
[32:37]all the way to the twelfth that's what the hadith is trying
[32:42]to say but it's not a free pass once again brothers and
[32:46]sisters because when you do bad things here you got to do
[32:49]something about it we talked about this last night either the tawba
[32:51]here or not allah is going to lay you down and give
[32:55]you that injection that i gave the example of yesterday we don't
[32:58]want that that injection equals barzah that's what's happening in the berta
[33:04]so yes the barzak is a place where we are growing more
[33:08]into what we're supposed to grow into but at the same time
[33:11]it's stuff also happens there one of the means by which we
[33:15]turn and transform into whatever we're supposed to transform into is adab
[33:19]and so that's gonna happen i ain't interested right all right let's
[33:26]move on questioning of the grave which comes with pressure of the
[33:32]grave the squeezing and all that that we've heard about which is
[33:35]true but who does it apply to that's the question so we've
[33:43]all heard that when we die and we have hadith for this
[33:47]of course that when the last footsteps are gone people are leaving
[33:53]this grave now and then night comes when the hadith doesn't say
[33:57]night comes it says when the last footsteps have left najib talks
[34:01]about these moments these angels come and they open up this person's
[34:11]shroud and say salaam alaikum where you been and so the questioning
[34:18]begins they're not going to waste any time so what is asked
[34:22]we've all heard the kuliyat the general things specifics are left for
[34:28]because more growth happens in yemen but for now all that is
[34:35]necessary apparently is general questions excuse me like what is your who
[34:39]is your lord what is your religion what is your book who
[34:44]is your imam was sheikha mean cool was he not cool was
[34:49]uh what did you fema ablate would you use your youth your
[34:55]younger years what did you use that for your wealth what did
[34:58]you spend it towards and all that kind of stuff these these
[35:00]general things are asked about this is what is asked who is
[35:04]asked these questions i'm going to keep it very short there's difference
[35:09]of opinion here because we have different hadiths here one set of
[35:13]hadith says everyone's going to be asked these questions everybody another set
[35:17]of hadith which are more in number and more more specific and
[35:20]i think are a better they're better all in all from a
[35:24]hadith perspective they say that only the ones who had the proper
[35:28]beliefs are going to be questioned and the ones who had the
[35:31]improper beliefs and it was their fault that it was that they
[35:36]had improper beliefs these two are going to only be asked questions
[35:41]the ones who had pure iman they got it right when it
[35:45]came to beliefs their actions is a different story that's not necessarily
[35:48]they were perfect in their actions they had the right beliefs or
[35:50]they had proper kuff like this guy knew he's looking at rasulullah
[35:56]he knows it's the truth he doesn't embrace it okay there are
[35:59]stories man some people are just losers uh this the guy during
[36:03]the prophet's time he says it too like at least don't say
[36:06]it man maybe there will be some leniency towards you in the
[36:11]akhirah but he says it i know this guy is the truth
[36:13]the holy prophet but i got i got a drinking problem and
[36:20]since drinking is haram in this faith let me just drink a
[36:23]few more then i'll embrace the faith right and so he puts
[36:26]it off for a while he dies before actually embracing the faith
[36:30]man this guy so you lost your akhira over a few drinks
[36:34]but you already had drinks before you know some people are just
[36:37]blessed you know some of these converts we ask them a reverse
[36:40]we ask them like so how does this fried chicken taste you
[36:41]know have you had that steak in that place and stuff like
[36:47]what is it like you know so you had that opportunity and
[36:51]now you embrace the faith god gave you both you know i'm
[36:53]kidding a little bit here that before you know it people are
[36:56]going out saying said that the father of all these things are
[36:59]it's not the case and so allah gave it to you that
[37:04]opportunity you had you just couldn't cut out a few drinks man
[37:07]and now that this is your this is what you end up
[37:11]as some people are just losers so um i'm sorry i forgot
[37:15]where i was what i was talking about so we're talking who
[37:18]is ass the ones the losers who they knew the truth yet
[37:23]they turned away from it everyone in between they're a third category
[37:26]so there's two opinions that people are of two categories another opinion
[37:30]is there are those who are of three categories some are the
[37:33]right path and wrong path some are pure right pure wrong and
[37:38]something in the middle okay each of these has a separate rule
[37:44]is more inclined towards the three category one there's a lot of
[37:49]people in the middle that won't be questioned their questioning will wait
[37:52]for yam student on the other hand he has a view that
[37:59]says no everyone is going to be questioned but the degrees of
[38:02]questioning will be different for different people what do i personally think
[38:05]although my opinion has no value whatsoever but very humbly i feel
[38:10]that that that set of hadith uh takes precedence the one that
[38:14]says no the ones who have pure iman and those who are
[38:16]pure kufr will be asked questions the rest will be left on
[38:20]their own well what happens to them then what happens then i'll
[38:23]just read one hadith to you what happens to these people it
[38:28]says imam al-bakr was asked or maybe i'll share two hadith those
[38:34]who are monotheists and believe in god and the prophet of the
[38:38]prophet but our sinners have no imam don't acknowledge your willah so
[38:43]he's talking about non-shia muslims those of us who say oh if
[38:47]you're non-shia you're doomed doing all that kind of stuff what will
[38:50]their state be sometimes it's your fault you didn't acknowledge the imam
[38:54]of an imam so that is not your fault it says they
[39:00]will remain in the grave and will not leave if they have
[39:03]any good deeds and showed no animosity towards us an opening to
[39:08]a garden in the west will be made for them in the
[39:13]grave which will blow a breeze from which will blow a breeze
[39:16]of happiness wow until the day of judgment arrives and they meet
[39:22]their lord they will then be held accountable for their good and
[39:23]bad deeds all those particulars will be asked there so if you
[39:27]were like for example christian and in your faith even it was
[39:30]wrong to do certain things allah is going to hold you accountable
[39:33]for that probably yeah another hadith islam said in the grave only
[39:37]those who will be questioned who had pure belief here this belief
[39:40]and the rest will be left to themselves so they're they're they're
[39:43]they're they're there maybe they might not know what's going on but
[39:44]it's not that they're suffering right so only the muhammadin are there
[39:49]the women are the only ones who are saved the rest are
[39:50]suffering you're hearing them like yeah there you go that you had
[39:52]the dunya i saw what you guys were doing take that now
[39:56]no a lot of people will be you know left to themselves
[40:00]it says all right but the big question is this can uh
[40:03]i mean as kids growing up we always yeah i know you
[40:08]don't don't say you weren't like this i was like this too
[40:10]we were growing up like as a matter of fact just the
[40:13]other day my daughter comes up to me she's like nine years
[40:17]old it's like bubba uh question and of course she's gonna ask
[40:21]me right sometimes these kids ask you questions that have nothing to
[40:23]do with being in shape and you're like i don't know they're
[40:25]like but how you're a mawlana for them you know anyway so
[40:34]she asked me about this like what are these questions they're going
[40:36]to be i don't know she's a smart little girl she's like
[40:39]probably trying to memorize those answers this is the same way i
[40:43]was the same when i was a kid oh those questions are
[40:47]easy let's go take care of business man right but no you
[40:54]think that it's going to be that easy it's not the case
[40:56]the questioning in the grave is not like questioning here so here
[40:59]since we have 40 minutes let me go a little deeper because
[41:01]this is important it gives perspective and i know some of you
[41:05]have been to this course before in your respective cities so it'll
[41:07]be a good reminder for all of us we have to understand
[41:14]when the quran says that death comes and when it comes it
[41:18]comes with hak only didn't say mixed it's all haqq after that
[41:24]if it's all huck after that then and everything's apparent the truth
[41:31]in haqq is accessible to all it's out there then if i'm
[41:35]gonna be asking questions yeah or if i'm angels coming and asking
[41:43]questions what's for sure is that i already know the answer to
[41:47]that question nothing's hidden everything is hot the questioning there isn't the
[41:52]angel's like okay you know what um like uh it's our shift
[41:56]uh there's a few guys we have now we gotta go ask
[42:00]them see what they're all about who their lord was and who
[42:03]their prophet was and all that let's go and ask them and
[42:06]see what's going on in their minds and so after they ask
[42:10]the questions if the person answers they get it right they're like
[42:13]okay he got it right check mark you know no it's not
[42:16]like that the the questioning there is not like questioning here here
[42:19]you give tests so that people can uh gauge you how good
[42:23]you are how how uh informed you are of the material how
[42:27]and how uninformed you are yeah there it's not like that there's
[42:31]no point in questions there as a matter of fact so the
[42:37]question is why is that called questioning of the grave why are
[42:42]they actually asking questions then and this is where let me see
[42:46]if any of you can answer that who's been in the course
[42:50]before what kind of questioning is this then if it's not a
[42:52]normal questioning what do we call it in arabi it is a
[42:58]tech here everything is about learning about you know disclosing revealing and
[43:10]it happens through questions we ask a question to see what the
[43:13]answer is to know what the reality of things is over there
[43:17]it's not like that over there philosophy we'll talk about this a
[43:21]hadith will talk about this the person who's been quite who's being
[43:25]questioned when they say mar book who is your lord they're not
[43:30]waiting for an answer you might not even say anything but what
[43:34]they are looking for is that they are actually bringing out that
[43:38]within you of lord that you had planted in this life that's
[43:44]what they're doing right i'll explain so the hadith for example that
[43:53]said i fear for you for your bad zach why is that
[43:55]the case because whatever we've planted within us in this life yes
[44:00]when the barzak comes they're going to bring it out we planted
[44:04]seeds in this life through our actions it's like these angels are
[44:11]coming it's like they're pouring water on you now like let me
[44:14]see what who his lord is yeah let me see what grows
[44:19]out of him or her if what grows out of them is
[44:22]allah would be you got the answer but if they pour that
[44:26]water on you and what comes out is fortnight would be although
[44:32]that's not a thing anymore right here it's not a thing is
[44:35]it or is it now guys are talking about playing cod you
[44:38]know it's like 30 year olds still playing cod call of duty
[44:43]yeah and it's usually guys it's not sisters you know so that's
[44:47]why we the guys get valid a little later so allah knows
[44:54]what he's doing anyway this person throughout their life if they've been
[45:00]following their nafs who is their lord actually then the lord is
[45:03]the one you listen to right all right so like if uh
[45:07]i've been listening to my nephs the whole life whether it's halal
[45:11]stuff and haram stuff then what's going to come out of me
[45:13]on that day when they asked me oh let's see who his
[45:17]lord is what's going to come out of me allah is not
[45:18]my lord that's why some hadith say a person this person had
[45:25]proper beliefs he had or she had proper beliefs yet because their
[45:31]actions weren't in line with that belief this person for maybe 700
[45:36]years will forget who was my lord because they didn't plant it
[45:40]in them in this life this is super important actions is what
[45:44]plants things within us philosophers will end up in jahannam sometimes but
[45:47]they might be able to prove god the best because it is
[45:52]actions that push us up and take our iman up the quran
[45:56]says this yes there is a pure belief that you can have
[46:01]and it goes towards the destination which is allah but what raises
[46:07]this vessel good actions are what solidify this iman support it push
[46:14]it forward take it to the destination so this person all their
[46:19]life they've been doing haram is okay video games keep a balance
[46:24]of course but it's okay it's not haram in and of itself
[46:28]unless playing it too much is not going to let you have
[46:29]a halal life in the future and living so you got to
[46:32]keep a balance be smart guys we're shia we've made it this
[46:36]far out of all the people of the world we are people
[46:39]of faith out of all the people of faith we are muslim
[46:41]out of all the muslims we are shi'a out of all the
[46:46]shi'a we're if not we've made it this far and then i'm
[46:50]like okay now let me play my video games eight hours a
[46:53]day because why one guy one of won a championship and he
[46:56]made like two three million dollars one guy that's one guy that's
[46:58]not a way of making a halal living all right anyway keep
[47:04]it balanced guys all right so what we're talking about here is
[47:08]that these actions are what matter same thing all of these things
[47:14]my actions are going to be speaking for me so this question
[47:18]is a takuini questioning takuini means that they're actually messing around with
[47:22]me when they're asking they're like when they're saying book it's not
[47:26]like hey mara book i want to listen to your answer like
[47:28]they're like opening you up like this let's see who his lord
[47:31]is in his heart they open it up they see something else
[47:33]other than allah there yeah so this questioning you can we can
[47:38]memorize the answers it's not going to work on that side we
[47:41]got to fix our actions if we fix our actions then we
[47:46]have what it takes to answer the questions yes someone might ask
[47:50]that's not fair people who were non-muslim yet it wasn't their fault
[47:55]that they were non-muslim they're going through nothing in the barzah because
[48:00]there's no questioning for them remember yet there are people who had
[48:04]the proper beliefs yes they struggle in their actions but they have
[48:08]the proper beliefs but they are going to be questioned that's not
[48:11]fair why did they have to go through trouble well first of
[48:15]all better sooner than later don't leave it for one but two
[48:18]someone might say there are some people whose actions were good why
[48:21]do they have to go through the suffering of questioning right it's
[48:25]not fair the answer that is given is this that why do
[48:30]we think questioning of the grave is a bad thing they are
[48:34]actually it's the best thing you could ask for because you planted
[48:36]the seeds in this life now you got to start growing into
[48:41]what you need to grow to growth growth to into in the
[48:44]barzakh so that you're ready for yamakiyama with your containers as it's
[48:48]pouring down barake to collect as much of it as you can
[48:53]we're getting ready for a big feast allah is giving us a
[48:57]hundred stomachs so that we can eat eat detach put the next
[48:58]one in some people have ten some people have a hundred someone
[49:02]like me have a hundred in this life you know what i'm
[49:08]saying so cardio just doesn't work sometimes as you get older this
[49:10]gosh darn uh what is it called uh uh what is that
[49:14]called when your metabolism drops man you breathe you get fat anyway
[49:17]let's not go on a tangent here is for us whatever potential
[49:27]we've given ourselves in this life whatever we've planted within our wujud
[49:30]in this life the barzak is what turns us into that thing
[49:34]that we're supposed to turn into so we can take it all
[49:38]in here after a few bites of for example ice cream what
[49:45]happens to your tongue yeah i'm pretty big on ice cream so
[49:49]i'm an expert here you you you take the first bite second
[49:51]by 10th bite 12th bite it starts the tongue starts going numb
[49:56]and you're not really tasting it anymore sometimes i actually look at
[50:01]that uh that that tub that i'm you know uh you know
[50:04]eating from i'm like why am i not feeling the taste anymore
[50:07]so i'll wait a little bit let it warm up a little
[50:10]bit in my mouth and then these are secrets of the trade
[50:14]brothers and sisters okay and so this is how this dunya is
[50:18]and sometimes we compare things to this dunya so we're like you
[50:21]know what this much is enough for me in the barzak or
[50:24]i don't want more i'm not interested anymore how do you know
[50:27]a person who has done a you're comparing it to here that
[50:31]after the 12th bite you can't feel it anymore so it doesn't
[50:32]matter if i can eat a ton of ice cream who cares
[50:34]because i can't feel it no no in every bite tastes like
[50:40]the first bite a person who that did a thousand salawat for
[50:44]example for example feels the difference than the one who did 999.
[50:48]we got to understand this and that's why we go there to
[50:53]grow enough to to be able to take it all in you
[50:56]can't take it all in here but you can take it all
[51:00]in there and so the bazaar gets us ready for all the
[51:02]good stuff that's going to come so if this is the case
[51:07]it's not something to be put off questioning of the grief is
[51:10]not a bad thing oh shaykh the ones who had proper beliefs
[51:13]why and they had proper actions why do they have to suffer
[51:17]questioning is a blessing they're going to come and bring it all
[51:19]out whatever it is in there now some people unfortunately they just
[51:23]didn't have respect for themselves and didn't prepare for this moment others
[51:27]though they are ready for it and that's why they don't want
[51:31]to wait yes it might be a little uncomfortable in the beginning
[51:37]i'll explain why look you heard this question okay so sometimes it's
[51:41]okay i mean if it's a if it's a byproduct of what
[51:46]i'm doing i'm doing good and i feel good about it and
[51:48]i one of the reasons why i like to do good for
[51:50]allah is that i feel good about it too that's fine but
[51:55]if i'm doing it for the sole purpose of feeling good then
[51:58]no it won't count allah has to happen and it's not happening
[52:01]here so i'll give you an example a person wants to make
[52:06]wudu they'll tell you if you're making wudu but for the sole
[52:09]purpose of just you know cooling off in the in the heat
[52:11]of the summer right i just want to pour some water on
[52:14]my face and on my arms halfway through it as i'm cooling
[52:19]off like you know what let me just wipe the top of
[52:22]my head too let me wipe my feet too let's let's just
[52:24]have we'll do two no no you didn't start with this intention
[52:27]so it doesn't count you know you did it exactly like how
[52:32]the how you're supposed to do it but that intention because the
[52:36]only thing you had in mind was that it doesn't count same
[52:38]and if you do we'll do for to have and you're like
[52:40]man it's good too it gives you a good feeling that's not
[52:42]going to render it problematic because you had this on the side
[52:46]that you were like you liked of it as well you know
[52:49]what i'm saying yeah don't don't go too hard on yourself on
[52:53]these things yeah when you're giving charity you're doing it for allah
[52:56]right it's not like you're like i went to the therapist they
[53:00]said one of the things of positivity you have to bring into
[53:02]your life is to make yourself feel good so help people and
[53:06]you're like okay i want to i want to help myself i
[53:09]want to feel better about myself here you go sir have some
[53:12]money and then when you when you look at yourself you're like
[53:14]there's no god in there that's a problem usually that's not the
[53:16]case for us look just the fact that you have this concern
[53:20]shows that you have the right intention inshaallah you know what i'm
[53:24]saying sometimes people go a little overboard and trying to dissect their
[53:28]intention right and so they get worried and then these they'll ask
[53:32]about these things like this i feel that yeah it's nothing no
[53:35]don't worry about it too much yes if there's a person who's
[53:37]not a person of faith but they are listening to that inner
[53:40]call within them that allah has put in us to be good
[53:43]is that what you were talking about yeah so these types of
[53:48]people it's between them and their lord because at the end of
[53:50]the day they are listening to that call within them that allah
[53:53]put in them now they're not a person of faith that's between
[53:55]them and their lord lots of people who are not people of
[54:00]faith it's not their fault now i mean look at the church
[54:02]and how it's been all throughout all these centuries the dark ages
[54:06]the inquisition um and then you find people that are have a
[54:09]problem with the hierarchy of the clergy in the christian in the
[54:13]catholic church for example i don't blame them and then if this
[54:16]is the best faith that's out there then of course islam and
[54:18]these other religions of course they're not the proper religion right some
[54:22]people that's what their reasoning is but if they if if they
[54:25]knew a religion was the right religion they would embrace it i
[54:27]think that would cut it for them and would be enough since
[54:31]they haven't embraced it but they have a reason for not embracing
[54:34]faith yet they're still listening to that which god has put in
[54:39]them of yeah that allah has put within us yeah but once
[54:42]again we are not to judge allah is the one to judge
[54:43]don't worry about them too much right we're going to worry about
[54:47]ourselves all we know is if anyone's going to worry about worry
[54:51]about them it'll be allah first before us even that's how compassionate
[54:54]good question so why would what if if if it's good for
[55:00]the ones who had a proper iman if it's good for them
[55:01]then why are the ones who are pure evil going to be
[55:04]questioned from there that's the question right what good isn't it for
[55:08]them or what's the point of asking them you're asking about the
[55:10]evil ones now right the ones with proper kufur it seems based
[55:18]on those hadiths that talk about easy death for evil people that
[55:22]allah will make sure that he compensates for whatever good they did
[55:27]in this life sometimes by repelling certain illnesses from them their children
[55:32]even things like that but come back is a place that allah
[55:37]is not going to care anymore about what you did in this
[55:39]life apparently he's going to take care of all of it here
[55:41]so when it comes time for that it's all your beliefs now
[55:45]that it starts with the beliefs then the actions come as well
[55:47]if you had proper beliefs let's ask them questions if because either
[55:52]they have their proper actions to go with the proper beliefs well
[55:54]then it's all good you're growing into what you need to grow
[55:58]to or you don't have the proper actions to go with the
[56:00]proper beliefs well it's injection time so that i don't have to
[56:03]worry about you in yamakiyama you were here last night okay injection
[56:05]time or if it's a person that has improper beliefs and it
[56:10]was their fault okay there's no hope for them anyway it's all
[56:15]over start up from now okay the ones who are in between
[56:17]no no no they are in the middle let them reach where
[56:21]specific questions are asked there we'll ask them okay you were a
[56:26]christian why didn't you do this why don't you do that you
[56:29]weren't muslim why don't you embrace islam well i didn't know well
[56:34]there wasn't that one time where you felt to yourself and yourself
[56:36]maybe i should look into this faith but you didn't yeah there
[56:39]was that moment okay you're responsible that much at least you know
[56:42]so the specifics are going to go for there yeah but once
[56:45]again this is one of those things that in the end the
[56:50]details i'm trying my best to answer based on the principles we
[56:52]got from these scholars but in the end sometimes just say we're
[56:55]not 100 sure exactly for every different person how it's going to
[56:59]be just like what the sister said um i just feel like
[57:02]if i was to judge okay i would say that well first
[57:05]of all is it their fault or not that they didn't have
[57:07]faith or adhere to an organized religion if it wasn't their fault
[57:11]the fact that they're listening to that inner call that allah has
[57:15]put in them that is beyond even being muslim and all that
[57:17]kind of stuff being good then i think it should count so
[57:21]it might be a place where certain menin who had bad actions
[57:26]will be purified yeah definitely but is it a place where we
[57:32]have the chance to do istighfar no because even before that the
[57:36]quran told us even before baraz the final moments don't even count
[57:40]let alone you get what i'm saying for some people there will
[57:45]be adab as well because it's the injection that they need because
[57:47]they didn't take care of stuff in this life and that's because
[57:51]allah loves them that he's doing this so in the bar it
[57:54]doesn't carry on to yamal qiyam yes so these we have hadith
[57:58]for this as well someone asked an imam that there are some
[58:02]people who are crucified they're up there so this questioning or this
[58:07]pressure of the grave how does it happen and the imam answered
[58:11]don't worry the air around this person will squeeze the person if
[58:14]it needs to so this is where there's a little difference of
[58:17]opinion among scholars some scholars say we don't know maybe there's a
[58:23]physical questioning the hadith said you are sat up in your grave
[58:26]please say it might really be literal that you are actually sat
[58:31]up in your grave other like he says no no no all
[58:36]of these things that happen to an individual in the barzach it
[58:39]is made to seem to the soul that it's actually happening but
[58:43]it's not happening to the physical body no yeah all right let's
[58:47]move on a little bit i know you have some questions let's
[58:51]see if we have time in the end i just want to
[58:52]make sure we go through this all right after so there's a
[58:58]story i'm going to skip this actually because just uh in interest
[59:03]of time there is a story that i wanted to share with
[59:05]you of one of the cases where the questioning happened um it's
[59:10]interesting you want me to read through it real quick or not
[59:13]of course people love stories why is shake talking so much read
[59:18]stories all right so this is there's a couple pictures of him
[59:26]black and white one of the greatest man really he has some
[59:28]interesting stories anyway the story we have here is he says when
[59:32]i was young and some of these they share their experiences other
[59:34]ones don't share their experiences he's shared some of his experiences and
[59:40]i'm narrating this from very reliable books that are out there by
[59:45]other scholars he says when i was young one of the things
[59:47]i was involved in was spiritual wayfaring they call it my my
[59:54]teachers had told me had told me to go outside the city
[59:57]on wednesday nights and thursday nights and spend the nights in a
[60:01]specific graveyard in contemplation about the realm of the souls and death
[60:04]and in worship till morning and then return back to the city
[60:06]guys it's not for you and i right you and i worry
[60:11]about the basics insha'allah what do we have for dinner tonight what's
[60:15]dinner tonight that's what we're going to worry about allah wants from
[60:19]us we'll take care of that first okay don't get too uh
[60:23]spiritual here right spirituality is good spiritual wafering is good but lots
[60:26]of times you notice people they miss out on the more important
[60:29]things right we have to learn that first take care of that
[60:33]first anyway this is for him his teacher says now is the
[60:36]time for you for you to do these things so he goes
[60:38]there's one cold winter night when it was snowing i left isfahan
[60:41]for the graveyard and settled in one of its rooms i wanted
[60:45]to have a light bite to eat rest and wake up in
[60:48]the middle of the night to carry out my spiritual practices right
[60:51]the door of the room was knocked and a corpse was brought
[60:54]in from the city its relatives left it there and asked the
[60:57]person in charge of the graveyard to recite quran over it till
[60:59]morning when they would come to bury it they left and the
[61:04]man and the man they left and the man began reciting quran
[61:09]for this for this geneza right when i was gonna begin eating
[61:12]poor guy wants to start eating look what happens i noticed the
[61:14]angels of chastisement approach and begin tormenting they would beat on his
[61:21]head with clubs of fire such that flares would blaze up into
[61:25]the sky with screams coming from the dead person so loud it
[61:29]was as if the entire graveyard was shaken by the sound the
[61:33]person reciting couldn't hear anything and just calmly went on with his
[61:37]recitation this is a person who has a bad exact vision that
[61:39]i was talking about right some of them they they have this
[61:44]and they don't get stuck here either so for us we're like
[61:46]oh my god what a superpower and that's all that matters if
[61:48]a person ever finds themselves thinking about how cool this stuff is
[61:51]they're not going to get it it's only when your focus is
[61:56]allah that these things might come but the moment you pay attention
[62:00]to these things as if this is something important is finished everything's
[62:03]taken maybe yeah it's crazy it's cool stuff the moment you think
[62:07]it's cool stuff it's not going to come to you anymore so
[62:10]we have to grow out of these things and come to the
[62:14]ultimate realization that the ultimate truth is allah everything else is just
[62:18]bottle by seeing this i passed out my body shook and i
[62:23]went very pale i kept pointing to the reciter to open the
[62:27]door like let me out and he wouldn't understand me and i
[62:30]couldn't speak it was as if my tongue was locked and i
[62:34]couldn't move eventually i was able to convey to him to unlock
[62:36]the door for me to leave he said it's cold there's snow
[62:41]everywhere and there are wolves along the way think about it you
[62:43]want wolves or you want these angels they'll tear you to pieces
[62:47]no matter how much i tried to get across to him that
[62:49]i can't stay he wouldn't understand i dragged myself to the door
[62:52]and he opened it and i exited the way back to isfahan
[62:56]wasn't very wasn't too far away but it was very hard to
[62:59]go i hit the ground several times i went to my room
[63:00]was sick for a week my ustads came and took care of
[63:05]me during that time period and they would give me medicine and
[63:06]forcefully feed me kebab surprise surprise until i slowly gained some strength
[63:15]someone someone force feed me kebab too because i'm not interested so
[63:20]he he's weak so he needs to be taken care of you
[63:25]know he needs to be nourished and so they're force-feeding him kebab
[63:29]man where where where we where are we now i told the
[63:32]banjo there's this story of him i'd read and he says that
[63:36]back in our day before fajr time in the sahan sahand there
[63:45]uh as the doors were locked still before fajr you could count
[63:49]50 people who were doing their salat and in that last which
[63:55]is that has the long kunut in it you could you could
[63:59]count 50 people who were doing dua in their that's where we
[64:07]were we can't even talk about where we are now okay so
[64:12]this is a person who either had very bad actions had proper
[64:18]beliefs but had very bad actions or didn't even have the proper
[64:20]beliefs they probably probably had proper beliefs too because they're reciting quran
[64:24]over him probably he came from a religious family or something but
[64:29]his actions were bad probably he had hurt others yeah do we
[64:34]have any iranians here right now he probably had cheated people when
[64:43]it came to money or stuff right i hope there's no islamists
[64:46]here and it's just you know it's one of those silly things
[64:49]i was talking about right um probably he had cheated people yeah
[64:54]happiness was on him somehow maybe or other things we don't know
[64:59]i really we don't we can't say but what what we can
[65:01]say probably is that he did have the proper beliefs but man
[65:04]does love hurt when allah doesn't want to leave it for qiyamah
[65:07]it starts with the questioning right there this guy has not put
[65:11]rap in his heart through his actions when they ask him he's
[65:14]just like stuck what am i supposed to do so now i'm
[65:16]going to talk about what the brother mentioned it might be an
[65:20]uncomfortable thing even for the ones who are really good people proper
[65:25]belief proper action but the angels want to really get out that
[65:29]which is within them this person has deeply rooted within them so
[65:33]a little scare might be necessary this is where hadiths when you
[65:37]look at their wording in i think we have this let me
[65:41]see if i can find it real quick it says um i
[65:51]can't find it right now but it says that for everybody it's
[65:57]these angels when they come they might be frightening in the beginning
[66:00]and then when you get the questions right then they're all of
[66:04]a sudden they're good there might be a little scare now this
[66:06]is just an example this is not a hadith this is not
[66:09]something even scholars i've seen talk about it's something that came to
[66:13]my mind why a little initial scare a little discomfort you know
[66:18]because they want to get that that which is deeply rooted within
[66:24]us right and i'll give you this example okay i always use
[66:26]this example wherever i teach this course now let's say we're in
[66:31]this auditorium right now right and uh as we're speaking here there's
[66:35]an exit over here yeah we can see the exit doors here
[66:39]right and there's one exit door in the back as we're talking
[66:42]and we have this class in session people a couple people running
[66:47]from these doors with with big guns and and rifles allahu akbar
[66:52]this is surprising we thought it was over it's still there no
[66:57]they're spraying bullets everywhere okay i'll edit that part out of the
[67:01]video just do a lot of awkward part and as they're spraying
[67:09]bullets everywhere people aren't going to be thinking anymore they're just going
[67:13]to be running towards that one exit over there as they're running
[67:16]towards the exit over there there's this guy his name is bilal
[67:18]de beja he's holding the door shut and he says i'm going
[67:25]to unlock the door if you get my question right what's 12
[67:28]times 13 and so all of us we can't answer in that
[67:33]moment bullets are being spread is this gonna work anymore no no
[67:37]it's whatever has become second nature and instilled in us is gonna
[67:42]come out you get what i'm saying yeah i thought of that
[67:48]example [Music] only that was 12 times 13 is not too hard
[67:51]is it because 12 times 12 is what 144 add 12 more
[67:57]to it 156.
[67:56]but we can't even do that much math in that moment okay
[68:02]you with me but what if we start running towards the door
[68:08]and then he's holding the door and we want to get he
[68:11]wants to open it but we have to answer his question first
[68:12]he says what's 2 plus 2 are we going to get it
[68:17]wrong are we going to struggle 2 plus 2 is something that
[68:19]is instilled within us it's part of us 2 plus 2 is
[68:23]4.
[68:24]and so we'll say the answer because we have to think about
[68:29]it right these angels when they come who is your lord i'm
[68:32]not gonna have time to think it's just gonna come out whatever
[68:37]is within me and so if my lord was really my lord
[68:41]in this life and my actions has put that in me that's
[68:43]going to come out or else something else is going to come
[68:44]out or else i might forget for 17 for 700 years and
[68:48]when i do forget they're going to use their clubs to get
[68:53]that out of me right so you can be a moment and
[68:56]that's why i feel that imam aslad said i fear for your
[68:58]barzah you got to do the work somewhere you didn't do it
[69:02]in this 50 60 or 70 hundred years or remember i said
[69:06]last night 300 if you're mawlana years that allah gave you here
[69:09]you didn't do it here you didn't the bar is the time
[69:13]to do it or else it's going to be the time you
[69:16]don't want that okay so this is the questioning of the grave
[69:18]it's a blessing for those who get it right and for those
[69:20]who don't get it right it's still a blessing if they had
[69:24]proper beliefs but for those who don't have proper beliefs even the
[69:27]adapt starts from there because there's no point in waiting anyway okay
[69:32]having said that i want to con well not conclude but um
[69:36]well we're going to have to slowly conclude but there are hadiths
[69:40]that tell us about what these people these souls that have barazi
[69:46]bodies they do in the now you know you watch those movies
[69:49]where like there's a a couple people on a journey and in
[69:54]an adventure and they stumble upon a new kingdom and the the
[69:59]camera like is zoomed out and it's showing like they see like
[70:02]trees and forests and dragons and waterfalls and princesses princes and castles
[70:07]and all that kind of stuff and then they walk into the
[70:12]forest and then the story begins it's a new kingdom that kind
[70:14]of thing there's a lot going on same thing here there's a
[70:19]lot going on in the barzah it is life it is actual
[70:23]life it is actually a higher level of life than we have
[70:25]here in this dunya and so the hadiths tell us of socialization
[70:30]hanging out but hanging out and spending time socializing talking asking questions
[70:37]all that kind of stuff and immeasurable pleasures that take place as
[70:42]a matter of the eating and drinking that happens there i'll read
[70:46]you some of these hadiths before we end we have four minutes
[70:50]till 4 30.
[70:51]it says of the souls of the believers after that the imam
[70:57]replied they are in rooms in the garden eating from its food
[71:01]and drinking from its drink saying oh lord bring forth the hour
[71:05]for us yama if this is what we're having here let's see
[71:08]what yamal qiyam is all about and fulfill your promises to us
[71:14]reunite us the last of us to the first of us and
[71:16]then in another similar hadith it says that the souls of the
[71:20]disbelievers are in rooms of fire eating of the food and drinking
[71:25]of the drinks of the inhabitants of that fire and so here
[71:28]allah makes this point and other scholars i've heard mentioned this that
[71:32]look there as you're eating you're taking pleasure because of your eating
[71:38]at the same time there's another deeper pleasure that's taking place and
[71:42]that is every every time you're eating more and more veils are
[71:46]going aside from you and you're getting closer to allah closer to
[71:50]the reality of we're growing right remember i said barzak is is
[71:54]necessary so it's not just your taste buds it's more than that
[71:59]imam sadiq indeed the believer visits his family the sister who asked
[72:04]this question he sees what makes him happy and what saddens him
[72:07]saddens him is concealed from him and indeed the disbeliever visits family
[72:11]and sees what saddens him and what he likes to see is
[72:16]conceal it from him there are some souls who visit every friday
[72:18]there are some who visit according to the extent that their actions
[72:22]allow them man everything is about the actions again how melakul mount
[72:28]is how the questioning is going to be all that stuff and
[72:31]even how much freedom we have there flying around said that imam
[72:35]every believer in this believer visits his family every day at noon
[72:39]when the believer sees his family during righteousness he thanks allah for
[72:42]that and when the disbeliever sees his family doing good deeds he
[72:44]feels regret that he didn't do the same so it's a punishment
[72:50]for that is huffman ammar asks in what form do they visit
[72:56]each other the imam answers like a light bird who sits on
[72:57]the walls of their homes if he sees them in righteousness and
[73:01]in a good state he becomes happy and the hadith goes on
[73:06]it says many hadith speak of how the souls of the believers
[73:09]gather in a place called salam and this is not talking about
[73:13]the graveyard of what islam in najaf why this means the land
[73:16]of peace where it's all good all good happening there that's where
[73:20]the good souls are and when they get together they're asking each
[73:24]other oh where's so-and-so where's so-and-so oh he didn't make it oh
[73:27]my god yeah and then they have there's another place called where
[73:31]adap takes place for these disbelievers and the ones who are evil
[73:34]and all of that they're taken there and so point being brothers
[73:38]and sisters it's a land in which and it's a place in
[73:42]which we are still living just like this you and i right
[73:45]we're living we're socializing until the day of the trumpet comes and
[73:48]the trumpet is blown and we are all taken to the qiyamah
[73:52]so going through all of this brothers and sisters i'm not going
[73:58]to be too worried if i didn't get certain things in life
[74:01]i'm not gonna worry too much if i'm angry at my husband
[74:04]or wife mom and dad i'm gonna leave the house or something
[74:05]like why because there's an end and we have so much more
[74:12]coming i swear i feel like these are things that can sometimes
[74:14]even save marriages because the person is like what am i what
[74:17]are we fighting over like i'll i'll i'll be the one who
[74:21]um uh forgives you or whatever doesn't mean say it he doesn't
[74:24]have to say it to that person i forgive you whatever okay
[74:26]you want to do it like this we'll do it like this
[74:29]instead of us thinking that everything is in this life and like
[74:32]every i have to make sure what i want goes and every
[74:34]bit of huck that i have comes to me and all that
[74:38]kind of stuff i think this can really help us in the
[74:40]grander scheme of things even in this life he says death is
[74:45]that which gives hope to a person in this life it's something
[74:50]to work for something to look forward to i thank all of
