[7:14]I thought we'd start with the recitation of the Quran and as

[7:17]some of you probably felt how the Quran penetrates into our hearts

[7:23]in a mesmerizing effect it is indeed the words of Allah subhanahu

[7:29]wa ta'ala and these specific verses I chose the first six verses

[7:37]from Hadid andah was asked about he said stick to these ayat

[7:48]and you'll be in the good of course this was a good

[7:55]response to the people who asked him there are many other ayat

[7:58]in the Quran about but it seems that the IM per his

[8:05]judgment he saw that for this particular group this would be great

[8:11]and if you notice the aat in Surah Alid mention some of

[8:15]the attributes of Allah glorified Allah whatever is in the heavens and

[8:25]in the earth everything does t of Allah subhanahu wa taala how

[8:31]they do we don't understand that part we don't comprehend trees do

[8:38]of Allah subhah wa taala does it mean that they have a

[8:41]mouth and they do T through their no not necessarily not through

[8:47]NE not necessarily we know for example certain organisms they ingest but

[8:52]not through a mouth through a process called phagocytosis for example they

[8:57]just engulf something and get it in but they ingest they have

[9:01]a method of ingestion not similar to the human beings but everything

[9:05]does t of Allah and he is indeed The Honorable the wise

[9:11]he has the ownership the true ownership of the heavens and the

[9:16]earth when we have a a problem a Calamity what do we

[9:26]say what do they say in we belong to Allah subhanahu waala

[9:35]he is the ultimate owner and therefore if he is the owner

[9:39]we submit to what he says what he does and he says

[9:51]you are confessing that he is the owner we are the slaves

[9:56]we are the Servants of Allah you're confessing that you're not going

[10:02]to last in this D he is the ultimate King he's the

[10:10]one who revives takes lives away capable of doing everything and so

[10:15]on so forth some of the attributes of Allah subhah wa ta'ala

[10:21]until we come to as the name suggests submission to Allah sincerity

[10:26]to Allah subhah wa ta'ala very briefly if Allah gives us tonight

[10:32]inshallah we'll discuss three main aspects about theology or from the quranic

[10:45]perspective again first what is the importance and the significance ofed why

[10:51]is it important second how can we inshallah strengthen our in subhanahu

[11:00]waala and third few points that we can do so that inshallah

[11:07]our IM in Allah increases Allah gives us first the importance of

[11:15]why is important on the day of the battle of Al Jamal

[11:18]on the day of the battle of Al Jamal an Arab man

[11:25]comes to Imam on the day of the battle and he says

[11:28]can we say Allah do we say Allah is one he's asking

[11:35]a theological question the people around IM Ali scolded this man they

[11:40]told him don't you realize don't you see the day we're in

[11:47]don't you see how IM aliam is preoccupied with the war there's

[11:49]a war that's going about to happen here a very big war

[11:53]IM Ali stopped them and he said leave this man alone what

[12:00]he's asking for is what we are asking of those people who

[12:03]are coming to fight against us if they understand truly they would

[12:10]not come to fight against me is very important and then he

[12:15]explains to him he says to say Allah one God is one

[12:22]it contains four meanings two that you cannot attribute to Allah and

[12:27]two that you can the two that you cannot tribute to Allah

[12:33]is one in terms of numbers you know 1 2 3 4

[12:36]he says don't you see how the Quran says that disbelievers are

[12:40]those who associate others with Allah subhah wa ta'ala or those who

[12:45]made him one of three that's not right he's one two the

[12:52]other one that we cannot say to Allah he is one meaning

[12:57]that he's one like us just like the the rest of us

[13:00]you know how sometimes a person comes and says he's one of

[13:04]us he's not one like us so he says those two you

[13:09]cannot mention the two that you can attribute to Allah is meaning

[13:12]one meaning unique nothing like him one yes he is one with

[13:17]nothing like him where did he get this from the Quran Allah

[13:22]says in the Quran there is nothing like Allah you cannot attribute

[13:30]things to Allah subhah wa ta'ala why is this important if you

[13:34]read in the A on the day when we ask Are You

[13:46]full and it says are there more give me more we have

[13:51]lot plenty of room here come welcome so they say he narrates

[14:00]bukari narrates that Allah subhah wa taala will take his foot put

[14:03]it into Janam and Janam will say enough Ya Allah enough Allah

[14:07]enough that kind of a Hadith we reject because Allah now has

[14:13]a foot I was in the city of Medina a few years

[14:19]ago during the season of ha and I remember I was listening

[14:21]to the in sh the lecturer he was talking he said the

[14:27]day of is such a blessed day it's a good day it's

[14:28]a a day of mercy and to be honest with you I

[14:32]was surprised I was happy because for the first time he's not

[14:38]and it is Haram to go to visit all for once he's

[14:43]saying something good that the day of is a day of Mercy

[14:47]is a day of forgiveness great then he adds this and I

[14:50]heard him myself he says on that day it is so great

[14:56]that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gets up from his throne and descends

[14:59]down from the Heavenly sky to the worldly Sky he comes down

[15:04]and he says welcome my servants now if that is Allah if

[15:11]he gets up from the throne now you've just made him analogous

[15:13]to the rest of us okay so if he got up then

[15:17]what is on the throne anymore it's empty it's vacant if he

[15:21]get sends down from the Heavenly Skies to the worldly Skies then

[15:23]who's left in the Heavenly Skies anymore you see what I'm talking

[15:29]about you cannot purs personify Allah you cannot give him personal attributes

[15:32]human attributes otherwise anything that can be personified anything that can be

[15:41]Quantified anything that can be felt then it is confined in time

[15:50]and space That's why nothing is like Allah and that's what Imam

[15:54]Ali is saying one with nothing like him and then that's one

[15:58]the second thing is he says one that cannot be divided into

[16:05]parts and he says that's the meaning of when you say there

[16:08]is difference between and means cannot be divided into Parts he is

[16:18]one that cannot be divided into Parts what do we mean by

[16:22]this well first of all easy example us humans we are made

[16:24]up of Parts made up of arms legs eyes etc etc these

[16:29]are all limbs that you put them together they make a human

[16:32]being for example Allah is not like this that's one second thing

[16:38]second us as human beings you may have a human being for

[16:43]example who has knowledge he's a doctor he's an engineer he's an

[16:47]it he's whatever it is was he born as a doctor was

[16:52]he born as an engineer he gained this knowledge it means this

[16:58]knowledge was acquired however Allah subhah wa ta'ala his knowledge is not

[17:05]acquired his knowledge is inherent it is of him he does not

[17:08]gain knowledge he is the source of knowledge subhanahu wa taala so

[17:13]there's a difference between us and Allah subhah wa ta'ala one that

[17:19]is not made up of parts and therefore when we say Allah

[17:22]is Allah is he's all hearing allseeing it's we're not talking about

[17:30]about different facets of Allah no it's all Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

[17:32]just different names that he has given to himself subhanahu wa taala

[17:40]so that's very important if is there people then can understand it

[17:44]then they would not have come to fight against IM Ali whereas

[17:46]we see the people of the the they come they say the

[17:52]Quran they read the Quran they pray their Sal and they come

[17:54]to fight against IM Ali it means they have not understood the

[17:59]essence of on the other example IM asks one of his companions

[18:08]his name is Rashid aluar Rashid one of the close Companions of

[18:14]the Imam he says how about you when the sinner of B

[18:21]referring toah zad captures you and he asks you to disassociate yourself

[18:29]from me what would you do he said I won't do it

[18:35]he said then he will kill you he's going to cut off

[18:41]your arms legs and tongue he said when he does that would

[18:45]I go to J when all that happens will my faith still

[18:50]be strong and I'm going to end up in Jenna he said

[18:54]you are with me in and in the what a beautiful thing

[19:03]he said then then I don't care whatever he does he does

[19:05]and indeed he was captured he was captured one day andah told

[19:12]him disassociate from IM aliam he said I won't he said how

[19:18]did he tell you I was going to kill you what did

[19:20]he tell you he said he told me you're going to cut

[19:23]off my arms and my legs and my tongue he said I'm

[19:27]GNA prove to you he's a liar I will cut off your

[19:31]arms and legs but I keep your tongue so he cut off

[19:36]his arms and his legs they took him home his daughter narrates

[19:42]rashid's daughter she said when my father came home now imagine just

[19:47]lost arms and legs and this is not like you know a

[19:49]surgical amputation with anesthesia you know and now with the sword he

[19:56]comes home look at the determination look at the a when the

[19:59]AA is strong when the belief is strong the faith is he

[20:05]calls his people he calls the people he says come let me

[20:08]dictate to you what Im Ali has dictated to me what he's

[20:14]told me I'll dictate to you now this is my final moments

[20:17]write down the knowledge that IM Ali has given me so they

[20:24]brought papers and pens or the equivalent of papers and pens and

[20:26]they started writing he's dictating he's telling them in that state in

[20:31]that state they're writing they're writing until some of the spies go

[20:40]you kept his tongue he's still talking to the people he's lecturing

[20:43]them so he says then cut off his tongue so then they

[20:51]cut off his tongue which proved that who was the liar he

[20:56]told him I'm going to prove that your IM is a liar

[20:59]he turned out to be the one just like the IM said

[21:03]so when they cut off his tongue he died this is the

[21:09]can see how important it is to have the so that's there

[21:14]because it is so important brothers and sisters it is important to

[21:19]also maintain a strong a in this day and age especially this

[21:26]age of media being so fastly propagated we have a lot of

[21:32]people who claim themselves to be atheists and they are getting a

[21:40]lot of platforms and therefore unfortunately a lot of our youth and

[21:44]people in fact they are being influenced by some of their arguments

[21:47]they listen to them and they say ah this makes sense and

[21:51]unfortunately they're being influenced by some of these arguments what's also driving

[21:58]this is some of those atheists they themselves are professors in universities

[22:03]and unfortunately we sometimes think that just because someone is a professor

[22:08]at the University they know everything and that is not true let

[22:13]me tell you something now we respect of course people of science

[22:17]people of knowledge thank you may Allah bless you however within the

[22:25]field within your field of science or whatever it is great even

[22:28]even within the field I remember I did my first PhD in

[22:33]chemistry on kidney stones brothers and sisters I attended a conference one

[22:36]day on kidney stones all the people there were professionals on kidney

[22:41]stones a person a group comes up and they're talking about how

[22:48]they originate there's still debate on how they form how they form

[22:51]one group comes up one professors at universities and they claim that

[22:55]it forms this way and they bring the evidence and the proof

[22:59]he gets up he gets down another professor gets up another professor

[23:05]he brings evidence and proof that no it's not this way it's

[23:08]this way okay so who's right who's wrong you know both are

[23:12]experts in the field both are professors researchers doctors and they publish

[23:18]papers on this field one says this way one says this way

[23:23]interestingly I published a paper later I I showed both of them

[23:29]are correct it's actually both ways this is right and this is

[23:32]right that's where the whole debate is originating from what I'm saying

[23:35]is people in the same field within the same field sometimes they

[23:39]differ about the field itself they have differences of opinion so imagine

[23:45]now If These Guys these professors would talk about theology this is

[23:49]not their field this is something completely different but we think that

[23:54]just because someone is a professor kalas he or she knows everything

[23:57]I'll give you one example for the sake of brevity there is

[24:03]a professor by the name of cross Lawrence Cross k r a

[24:11]u SS he's published a book the title of his book is

[24:17]a universe from nothing bestseller sold millions of copies this book is

[24:28]introduced by Richard Dawkins a famous atheist or he himself calls sometimes

[24:32]himself agnostic not atheist so he says Richard Dawkins he says with

[24:39]this book he this cross has sealed the argument that there is

[24:45]a God no more argument I was curious okay let's read this

[24:48]book see what this guy's talking about here listen to what he

[24:50]says now are you guys awake with me inshallah you're awake muham

[24:56]muhamad muhamad so he says in page 149 of the book first

[25:09]I want to be clear about what kind of nothing I am

[25:14]discussing at the moment a universe from nothing so he needs to

[25:17]Define what is nothing listen to his definition this is the simplest

[25:28]simplest version of nothing namely empty space for the moment I will

[25:35]assume space exists exists with nothing at all in it and that

[25:41]the laws of physics also exist space exists and the laws of

[25:46]physics exist Does that sound like nothing to you brothers and sisters

[25:52]that sounds like a lot of things to me a lot of

[25:56]things are in existence here how could this this is like you

[25:58]know I don't know if you guys know English but there's something

[26:02]called an oxymoron you know something like contradictory he says nothing and

[26:07]he says exists how could you have nothing and existence at the

[26:11]same time okay now interestingly so this is what he says on

[26:16]page 170 of the same book he admits he says the following

[26:22]after you know going through his arguments and so on so forth

[26:27]so page 170 he says does this prove that our universe arose

[26:31]from nothing of course not but it does take us one rather

[26:39]large step closer to the possibility of such a scenario the possibility

[26:44]of such a scenario he's himself saying does this prove that our

[26:51]universe arose from nothing he answers himself of course not if you're

[26:57]saying of course not then that's it and the other person in

[27:05]the introduction says this is the be all and the end all

[27:09]it's done are you serious so interestingly there is a an author

[27:13]a researcher his name is Kelly James Clark this researcher wrote a

[27:19]book called religion and the Sciences of the origins of Origins religion

[27:24]and the Sciences of Origins he States this person he is kind

[27:29]of responding to cross he's answering cross what does he say he

[27:32]says cross's definition of nothing transforms into something again he's free to

[27:44]define words as he likes you can say whatever you want it's

[27:48]a free country okay he's free to define words as he likes

[27:54]but it sure seems like he's cheating a a paragraph after he

[28:03]calls space empty which recall he defines as a boiling bubbling Brew

[28:08]of virtual particles and Fields widely fluctuating in a magnitude he calls

[28:14]it otherwise empty space all this stuff is empty space in the

[28:23]next paragraph he says that the Universe results from these Quantum fluctuations

[28:28]in what is essentially nothing so all that stuff is nothing you

[28:34]see brothers and sisters this book of his is a bestseller he's

[28:40]a professor of physics many people have read this book and they're

[28:42]getting influenced by this book but unfortunately you really boil it down

[28:45]what this is what the Quran refers to as it's just doubts

[28:54]basically speculations he's just basing his whole argument on speculations and unfortunately

[28:59]a lot of people are following this argument based on this speculation

[29:05]Richard Dawkins himself in 2012 you can find the interview online he

[29:11]met he had an interview with the Archbishop of gatensbury and the

[29:17]the Archbishop asked him on the scale of 0 to seven where

[29:21]zero you're a very firm believer seven you're a complete disbeliever atheist

[29:27]where do you rank yourself he says 6.9 he asked him why

[29:35]6.9 you after all your books he has so many books against

[29:39]religion against Allah all this and 6.9 why 6.9 why not seven

[29:47]he says because I cannot conclusively prove that God does not exist

[29:53]can you imagine Subhan Allah and I have seen people I have

[30:01]come across people unfortunately Muslims sh who have been influenced by his

[30:10]books and unfortunately have deviated from religion and at the end of

[30:13]the day what does he himself say I cannot really prove it

[30:15]100% so what is he acting on Van van speculation speculation you

[30:23]see brothers and sisters whereas if the a is strong one can

[30:29]then affirm belief for that's why says to sleep while you are

[30:42]certain of the truth is better than praying getting up like the

[30:45]get up and pray but they have doubt they don't understand the

[30:49]Quran they're not really understanding the essence of religion and Theology and

[30:54]hence they come to fight against me and they want to kill

[30:57]me and indeed they killed him at the end end of the

[30:59]day they killed see brothers and sisters so says in the first

[31:15]the essence of religion is recognizing Allah recognize him after you recognize

[31:26]him then believe in him don't be in denial do not be

[31:33]in denial once you can see there is a a God and

[31:35]and that's something important in our faith in our faith as followers

[31:40]of for us can be proven through logic logic and reason that's

[31:46]why I one time I remember I was here and I mentioned

[31:51]this story to you brothers and sisters in 2014 I was invited

[31:56]to the University of Alberta to talk to a professor profess of

[31:59]philosophy who an atheist I told him I said to him I

[32:10]did research on diabetes and heart failure for a few years 80%

[32:15]of diabetic patients die from heart failure I have a cardiologist here

[32:18]to kind of fact check me you know so I better watch

[32:22]my my my facts are right inshallah good alhamdulillah good so 80%

[32:27]of diabetic patients die from heart failure and so researchers around the

[32:31]world are trying to find out why so they do a lot

[32:34]of research billions of dollars are invested on this there are conferences

[32:36]they attend every year specifically about this card cardio diabetes and cardiovascular

[32:43]disease so I told him imagine if one day at one of

[32:49]those conferences at one of these conferences a man gets up all

[32:53]these professors doctors you know all those guys researchers he says I

[32:56]figured it out all you guys have been just wasting your time

[33:00]and billions of dollars and money on this the reason why 80%

[33:05]of diabetic patients die from heart failure is because of a random

[33:12]process of evolution that's it so why bother I told him will

[33:18]these professors and researchers accept that argument it's just a random process

[33:24]of evolution that's it will they accept it he paused I told

[33:28]told him if scientist I told him I'm going to speak to

[33:31]you as a scientist not a man of Faith just as a

[33:32]man of science if scientists cannot accept that 80% a heart can

[33:40]fail through a random process a heart cannot fail through there must

[33:43]be a reason why so they're trying to figure it out if

[33:46]as a scientist I cannot accept that a heart can fail through

[33:52]a random process how do you want me then as a scientist

[33:54]to believe that this whole universe with all its chemistry and its

[33:59]physics and its laws and with all the Perfections that it has

[34:05]just came in through a random process his response because he was

[34:12]a professor of philosophy so he's a scholar of philosophy of logic

[34:17]a completely logical argument I did not use an Ayah from the

[34:21]Quran or AI from logical he said well maybe we do not

[34:26]understand the source ah wait a minute what did he just admit

[34:34]that there is what a source he just confessed but we don't

[34:40]understand we're not talking about understanding The Source our discussion right now

[34:45]is about what the existence of a source and you just confessed

[34:49]that there is a source you want to call him a source

[34:54]you want to call him whatever you want to call him we'll

[34:56]call him Allah subhana wa tala you see brothers and sisters when

[35:00]that logic is there it's that's why IM Ali says the beginning

[35:05]the essence of religion is to recognize him and don't be in

[35:09]denial don't once you recognize him believe in it believe in him

[35:15]and the essence of the belief in him is now he's one

[35:17]there is no Partners Associates with him he doesn't have any Partners

[35:24]or Associates no children and that's what ay tells us he is

[35:31]not divided into Parts needless he does not need anything nor does

[35:39]he need anyone sufficient by himself Al we are the poor we

[35:43]are in need of Allah he does not need anything he did

[35:51]not give birth nor was he given birth too he was eternal

[35:58]he's Eternal he's always in existence why no match is equivalent to

[36:04]Allah don't attribute arms and legs and face and whatever to Allah

[36:08]human attribute nothing nothing can be attributed to Allah in that context

[36:13]something physical don't make him into physical and that's why he says

[36:21]don't give him attributes like human attributes like what we read in

[36:25]alari he has a leg a foot that he puts into the

[36:30]fire that is not Allah subhana wa ta'ala so brothers and sisters

[36:37]we find the importance of once we have a good a good

[36:40]in Allah then it drives us towards religion we are driven why

[36:45]are you fasting in the month of Ramadan these hours all these

[36:48]hours long why because your faith in Allah subhana wa tala believe

[36:51]in Allah subhana wa tala is was driving you to fast why

[36:55]do you wake up at like 3 4:00 5:00 in the morning

[36:57]some sometimes to pray for example when it's in the summer time

[37:01]why do you wake up why not just sleep because your faith

[37:06]in Allah subhana wa tala is calling you so what's important is

[37:12]we go through so that our faith in Allah is pure pure

[37:17]two important points and then we'll finish our discussion tonight make sure

[37:21]brothers and sisters you talk to your children about Allah subhana wa

[37:28]ta'ala even when they're young speak to him IMI in his to

[37:37]IM he wrote this to imass in the year 38 after after

[37:43]the battle of s I know you guys are tired let's test

[37:50]your knowledge now IM alassan was born in the year 3 after

[37:52]hij in the year 38 after hij how old is he 35

[37:58]good alhamdulillah some people are with me here good IM alassan is

[38:05]35 years old IM Ali is giving him a will giv him

[38:06]it is the longest written document in from IMI to someone that

[38:15]and the well that or the uh document he gave to Malik

[38:18]those two are the longest documents written by imami in it to

[38:25]IM Hassan he says son be aware that Allah is one he

[38:31]has no Associates if there were Associates we' have seen their prophets

[38:36]where are The Messengers if there was a god other this is

[38:39]one of the proofs IM Ali is using to prove that there

[38:43]is only one God if there were other gods we would have

[38:48]seen their prophets or we would have seen their signs of creation

[38:52]all the sign of the creation is coherent points towards one Creator

[38:56]so this is his proof Allah subhah waala adds another evidence what

[39:07]would have happened if there were Gods other than one God if

[39:12]there were multiple then corrupt chaos would erupt one would say I

[39:15]want winter one would say I want summer one would say I

[39:19]want snow the other one would say I want Sun there will

[39:24]be difference but it's all cohesive this means that there is one

[39:29]Creator see the evidences of the Quran just like what im is

[39:34]using last Point inshallah very briefly because it's the time ofan inshallah

[39:39]what can we do to increase our and IM very one Quran

[39:48]read Quran the of says that these Hearts they become rusted like

[39:56]iron so clean the rust with the recitation of the Quran so

[40:00]read Quran regularly two Dua brothers and sisters Dua try to read

[40:09]and memorize as much Dua as you can all beautiful words of

[40:36]Theology and IM Ali is teaching us Dua is very important so

[40:39]constantly read Dua third thing brothers and sisters try to pray inshallah

[40:47]we'll talk about it over the next few nights 11 especially this

[40:51]month of Ramadan try to pray so that your in Allah increases

[40:59]gives you success unlocks Keys doors for you so the more you

[41:07]can pray it the better as well as the we ask Allah

[41:09]subhah wa ta'ala to increase in our in him in the way

[41:17]that he wants and he likes inshallah so that we keep and

[41:20]maintain our true faith in Allah subhanahu waala raise your hands in

[41:27]the Dua very quickly inshallah we read this Dua together at the

[41:32]time of many people have many people have asked us to remember

[41:35]them in our Dua some of them are ill some of them

[41:39]are in the hospitals some of them have this cancerous disease may

[41:44]Allah give them inshallah quick and complete recovery for 10 times together
