[0:13]i begin in the name of the almighty god the compassionate the
[0:18]merciful the one who has created everything in utmost perfection and may
[0:26]the peace and blessings of the almighty god be upon his pure
[0:31]and beloved messenger the peak of his creation the symbol of humanity
[0:37]the holy prophet muhammad allah and his immaculate progeny of the albeit
[0:48]peace be upon them especially the leader of our time the awaited
[0:56]savior and imam al-mahdi allah may allah hasten his reappearance and make
[1:01]us all amongst the sincere and dedicated servants respected brothers and sisters
[1:24]inspired on this evening i extend to you my condolences on the
[1:43]occasion of the arby's the 40th of allah as i am speaking
[1:50]to you now millions of visitors are heading towards the source of
[1:57]inspiration the source of sacrifice the source of patience and we ask
[2:12]allah subhanahu ta'ala to protect them all and we ask allah subhanahu
[2:18]ta'ala to invite all of us to visit al-imam al-hussein soon is
[2:27]a powerful pr campaign to restore the values of the religion of
[2:33]islam to deliver the values of imam and hussain islam to the
[2:42]world the reason why the family of imam hussain on their way
[2:47]back to medina they decided to stop in karbala was to remind
[2:54]the world that if you come to this side the sight of
[2:59]the martyrdom of imam hussain you are infused with the values of
[3:03]islam the family of imam hussain and islam did not have an
[3:09]army did not have a propaganda machine like the umayyads did they
[3:14]do not have a strong media therefore they generated a powerful label
[3:22]in history to keep the message of imam hussein alive that label
[3:30]is the albin walk to walk to this holy site throughout history
[3:37]this has brought so much transformation to our lives to our societies
[3:44]just through that label the family of imam hussain alaihissalam preserved the
[3:53]values of imam hussain through the arby's they made it a point
[4:00]to stop at this blessed place to renew allegiance with these martyrs
[4:04]and to tell them that we will stand by your values this
[4:09]is the significance of the label and the ziara label now in
[4:15]our discussion tonight my dear brothers and sisters we would like to
[4:22]examine the role of labels in islamic law many of the laws
[4:28]and rulings that we have in the religion of islam are shaped
[4:31]by labels labels heavily influence our lives our ordinary lives our social
[4:42]lives our political lives but more importantly our religious lives even our
[4:48]spiritual lives they are heavily influenced by labels it's very important for
[4:54]us to know how labels shape islamic laws for us we can
[5:00]better appreciate these laws and we come to apply them in a
[5:06]more appropriate way now before we examine how labels affect islamic rulings
[5:17]let's ask what is the role of labels why do we have
[5:21]labels in our lives labels make life much easier and much more
[5:30]organized we classify things we label them we give so many things
[5:34]around us labels scientists do that all the time when you read
[5:39]about a species you see that scientists have given this particular species
[5:43]a name that's a label that scientists generate in order to know
[5:49]the specifications the features the details of those species when you go
[5:57]to school you're surrounded with labels you have children in elementary school
[6:04]you have children in middle school you have school children in high
[6:10]school these are all labels that we assign in order to organize
[6:15]our class in order to organize the school at the political level
[6:18]we do the same thing you have the legislative branch of government
[6:22]you have the executive branch you have the judicial branch you see
[6:26]these different labels that we apply in our everyday lives when you
[6:32]go to your office you have different files with different labels this
[6:38]is the file that's responsible for my employees this is for the
[6:45]finance issues this is for other aspects of my company we label
[6:48]everything around us and that is very productive when you label things
[6:55]correctly and properly you achieve efficiency you become organized you become efficient
[7:00]that's how our lives operate and function properly so this is the
[7:08]role of labels that we see in our ordinary lives now there
[7:13]is something called labeling theory in psychology these labels have a huge
[7:21]impact on your identity on my mentality how i view the world
[7:26]how i conduct myself how i view myself is heavily shaped by
[7:34]labels the labels that you use to refer to others the labels
[7:38]that you assign to yourself if i assign positive labels to myself
[7:42]and to others i tend to be a more positive person this
[7:47]is well established in psychology it shapes your identity these different labels
[7:56]change how we view others and how we judge others most of
[8:01]the judgments that we pass on others depend on the labels that
[8:07]we've created one interesting study in psychology that was done by princeton
[8:12]university revealed something that's really striking so they brought a group of
[8:21]people to experiment with they showed them two videos in one video
[8:27]they had a girl situated in a very poor background in a
[8:34]poor neighborhood you can tell from the video that she was in
[8:40]a low-income neighborhood then the interviewer in the video asked her a
[8:45]series of questions some of those questions she answered correctly but then
[8:51]some questions she made obvious mistakes in she did not answer them
[8:57]correctly this was the first video the other video that was presented
[9:03]to another group of people in this experiment they showed the same
[9:07]exact girl with the same exact set of questions but what was
[9:13]the background this time not a low income neighborhood they had a
[9:17]very high middle class neighborhood she was asked in this type of
[9:23]setting in this type of environment same girl same questions now they
[9:27]asked those who saw these videos to give their impression of the
[9:35]girl they asked them tell us about this girl that you saw
[9:38]in the video did she look smart or no how do you
[9:44]think that socioeconomic label impacted their answer when you see that person
[9:49]in a poor neighborhood how do you perceive that person most of
[9:56]those who saw the first video and this girl was in that
[10:01]poor neighborhood they didn't think that she was smart this was their
[10:07]impression of her now when they asked the second group who saw
[10:10]the same person same questions were answered by the girl they asked
[10:15]to rate her intelligence do you think this person was intelligent or
[10:18]no this time what do you think the responses were most of
[10:25]the people who saw that second video said yes she looks intelligent
[10:30]she seems like she's a smart girl subhanallah what changed between these
[10:33]two that label because when i see a poor neighborhood automatically i
[10:39]put a negative label people here are not smart they're not successful
[10:44]i judge them but when i see a high class neighborhood automatically
[10:49]i pass a judgment i generate a label considering these people good
[10:54]people successful people smart intelligent people you see how the label impacts
[11:02]our mentality and how we judge everything around us it's very powerful
[11:07]another fascinating study was done by two psychologists jacobson and rosenthal they
[11:15]examined how teachers view some of their children in the class some
[11:22]of the their school children in the class and they wanted to
[11:26]see how those labels impacted the success of those kids so they
[11:31]realized that when a teacher perceives one of those children in the
[11:40]class to be smart and successful and gives that student due attention
[11:46]that student on average excels and becomes successful but if a teacher
[11:51]from day one labels one of the kids as not being successful
[11:54]not being smart for whatever reason sometimes it's just your looks or
[11:58]maybe some thing that the students said or because of their socioeconomic
[12:08]status when the teacher labels one of those children is not smart
[12:11]not successful low class many times what do you think happens that
[12:19]children that child those children have a less lesser chance of becoming
[12:24]successful they tend to fail more in class why because that label
[12:31]which the teacher put on them made the teacher not give any
[12:37]attention to those children and naturally they failed because they did not
[12:42]get the proper attention you see how these labels make us judge
[12:46]others and view the world around us now in the religion of
[12:54]islam allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has forbidden us in the holy quran
[12:58]from assigning any negative labels to those around us we need to
[13:01]assign labels like we said labels are efficient they bring organization to
[13:08]our lives but they have to be appropriate labels the minute i
[13:12]start to associate labels with false ideas with discrimination racism injustice that's
[13:21]when i start passing wrong judgments that allah has not authorized me
[13:26]to do so you can classify people as black and white no
[13:29]problem you can do that it's not wrong to do that based
[13:34]on their color but when you pass a judgment and you say
[13:36]this race is better than that race this is wrong when we
[13:43]pass inappropriate judgments to these labels that's when you have a problem
[13:49]many times we label those around us one common label that you
[13:56]see people using these days is the label toxic i have a
[13:59]toxic brother i'm a toxic sister many people are saying i have
[14:05]toxic parents look at this negative label that you're assigning these people
[14:07]i know it's convenient to use a label against those whom you're
[14:13]not comfortable with but this label is very destructive even if you
[14:17]have a brother or sister who gives you a hard time never
[14:20]use such a label because when you create such a label you
[14:24]are not giving any room any hope for things to be fixed
[14:29]when your brother when your sister hears you referring to them as
[14:36]being toxic they will make no effort to improve their relationship with
[14:41]you and the same applies to spouses marital problems many times you
[14:45]see that the spouses when they have differences with each other they
[14:50]begin to label one another and the minute you start labeling your
[14:53]spouse you're destroying the marriage if your spouse did something wrong and
[14:59]you need to address it identify it tell your wife tell your
[15:05]husband this action that you did was uncalled for this action was
[15:09]not a good action don't engage in character assassination and destroy the
[15:14]personality of your spouse and put a destructive label this is not
[15:18]helpful you're a liar you're dishonest you have no dignity i don't
[15:24]see any karama in you anymore these are destructive labels talk about
[15:30]the action itself keep the integrity of their personality because when they
[15:36]see that you're objectively discussing the action and you're not destroying their
[15:42]personality they will be willing to work with you you can fix
[15:45]things you can mend things but too often these labels my dear
[15:49]brothers and sisters are destructive labels are healthy when they reflect the
[15:55]reality when they are positive when they make your life easier and
[16:02]more organized by the way one very important dilemma today that we
[16:07]are dealing with when it comes to labels is the issue of
[16:13]gender allah subhanahu ta'ala in the holy quran he's assigned the two
[16:18]genders or the two sexes for us allah makes life easy for
[16:23]us very clear in the holy quran allah has created these two
[16:29]pairs these two sexes the male and the female now what is
[16:33]our society doing today i'm not passing any judgment here i'm just
[16:36]having this conversation with you today what is society doing with the
[16:42]label of gender it's opening it to society to choose without any
[16:49]understanding of the limitations of this label leave it up to the
[16:55]people to decide what gender they are we don't have two genders
[16:59]three genders we could have 50 we could have an unlimited number
[17:03]of genders now one challenge that arises from this type of approach
[17:09]to gender is that it creates massive confusion amongst our younger generations
[17:14]it creates an identity crisis these days you grow up in a
[17:21]society in addition to all the life challenges that we have to
[17:23]deal with now what do you have to deal with too you
[17:27]have to now figure out a gender for yourself you know how
[17:29]much burdening that is to a lot of people you may think
[17:33]no this is giving them liberty let them choose but it's actually
[17:37]creating more harm than benefit it's creating damage and that's why many
[17:43]people are psychologically suffering they're struggling with anxiety they're struggling with depression
[17:50]because of this identity crisis of the genders allah makes it simple
[17:55]in the holy quran i'm your creator i know what works for
[17:57]you i know what's efficient for you has simplified it for us
[18:08]keep things simple with less complications it's better for your growth your
[18:14]spiritual growth your mental growth your psychological growth when you increase these
[18:21]labels it's not helping us my dear brothers and sisters many studies
[18:24]have been done on this fact that psychologically it's not serving any
[18:29]positive role in fact it's having a detrimental impact so this is
[18:39]the role of labels that we see in our everyday ordinary lives
[18:43]now let's examine how labels shape islamic law when it comes to
[18:51]islamic labels and rulings there is no doubt that allah subhanahu ta'ala
[18:57]is the legislator in islam who issues laws for us who decides
[19:02]rulings for us allah subhanahu wa he is the legislator and the
[19:08]prophet sallallahu alaihi and the upon them they convey those rulings on
[19:13]behalf of allah to us allah is the legislator he decides on
[19:18]all rulings no human being no scholar no has the right to
[19:26]come up with a ruling and legislate this is the domain of
[19:34]allah now when it comes to these rulings you will notice that
[19:40]every ruling has a subject sometimes allah subhanahu ta'ala has decided that
[19:47]subject for us allah tells us the parameters of this ruling the
[19:55]conditions of this ruling such as prayer for instance when it comes
[20:02]to salah allah tells us how to pray what are the conditions
[20:07]of salah what are the parts of salah this is not something
[20:09]that we can insert our opinion in the number of units in
[20:15]the salah they're determined by allah allah has put all these parameters
[20:22]and conditions for us so you see that the ruling which is
[20:28]that prayer is an obligation this is a ruling you have to
[20:31]pray it's an obligation prayer is defined in islam for us you
[20:36]don't go and ask people what do you think prayer is or
[20:40]how should it be that's a sign by allah see what the
[20:42]prophet teaches you see what the imam teaches you the same with
[20:47]fasting the same with hajj and these other rituals so the first
[20:51]category of islamic laws allah has defined their parameters for us but
[20:57]then we come to the second type of rulings and laws in
[21:04]this second type of rulings and laws allah subhanahu ta'ala has given
[21:11]us the ruling and he assigns the ruling to a label now
[21:17]how that label is applied what are the parameters of that label
[21:22]when it comes to its application that is something that you have
[21:27]to seek from what is called the earth that is from your
[21:32]society from common sense from the public perception in your society allah
[21:38]gives you the really the ruling allah tells you this is but
[21:43]when you come to the subject itself you don't know what the
[21:49]parameters are allah the religion of islam doesn't give you those parameters
[21:52]you have to go to your society and investigate and see how
[21:59]your society views this label the ruling is from allah but the
[22:03]application and the understanding of the label comes from society i'll give
[22:08]you several examples to see how important this point is for instance
[22:12]in the religion of islam we have a label that the ruling
[22:18]for it is prohibition haram the label of arabic basically is a
[22:27]type of singing islam is very clear in our hadiths that explain
[22:33]the holy quran that the label is now what's the what's singing
[22:41]which type of singing is declared as being haram the hadith doesn't
[22:48]state what type of voice while singing constitutes the hadith doesn't say
[22:54]so how does a scholar then know what type of singing is
[23:00]haram for him to issue a fatwa you know what the magi
[23:03]and the scholar will tell you is haram but what is ask
[23:08]your society ask the people around you the common perception how do
[23:13]people view this label when you ask the average person in society
[23:18]tell me what is what type of voice constitutes vena whatever the
[23:23]society says that's haram because the label is defined for you it's
[23:28]haram but what exactly constitutes the label you have to ask your
[23:36]society this is one example another example is hijab islam is very
[23:41]clear in our verses of the holy quran and the hadith that
[23:44]the hijab is for instance a woman covers her body except the
[23:49]face and the two hands now how exactly does she cover the
[23:55]body what type of clothing must she wear what type of color
[23:58]must she wear islam has not defined that for you you ask
[24:02]your society whatever is considered modest whatever is considered not provocative whatever
[24:08]that does not attract negative attention that qualifies us this could vary
[24:14]by the way from one society to another society you have to
[24:17]look at your society this is extremely important in determining the islamic
[24:23]law for you one question that many times the brothers ask me
[24:28]the guys are always asking about this say it is that haram
[24:30]for us to wear shorts when we go outside there's no hadith
[24:36]or verse in the quran that tells you it's haram to wear
[24:40]shorts however we have a very important label called modesty not being
[24:47]provocative if you're going somewhere and you will be exposed to the
[24:52]opposite gender and if you're wearing shorts that attracts negative attention that's
[24:57]haram by the fatwa of all scholars if that's considered provocative if
[25:02]it attracts unwanted looks lustful looks that's haram but let's say you're
[25:10]going somewhere where are you avoiding that this does not apply then
[25:13]it would be okay you see how the label is really important
[25:17]it really determines how the ruling is applied in your society before
[25:24]i share with you some other interesting examples let's ask the question
[25:29]why has islam given us such type of rulings why didn't islam
[25:32]come and define everything for us which type of singing is haram
[25:38]which type of music is haram exactly give us the conditions and
[25:42]the parameters of hijab and all these other rulings why did islam
[25:47]leave certain conditions to society and to the perception of the common
[25:55]public why would islam do that my dear brothers and sisters islam
[26:02]is a very dynamic religion societies change islam does not stagnate islam
[26:11]gives you lively rulings that apply in every era in every age
[26:15]and so islam recognizes that there are certain rulings their application changes
[26:22]with time so we give you the ruling for the label but
[26:26]the application goes to the earth it goes to the society to
[26:31]the side because that is much more realistic it's much more applicable
[26:35]imagine if islam assigned certain things and you had to stick to
[26:41]them over time they would not be relevant and applicable imagine if
[26:45]islam would have imposed a certain type of clothing every single muslim
[26:49]has to wear this type of dress and garment this would not
[26:53]be practical people have different cultures people have different societies islam gives
[26:59]you the general guideline be modest and that modesty could vary from
[27:04]one society to another society islam tells you that the label is
[27:10]one that is negative it's distractive it's a diversion so anything that
[27:17]your society considers as entertainment singing that is this distracting that is
[27:23]just a diversion and amusement and serves no purpose islam says this
[27:30]is haram this keeps you away from allah and it negatively affects
[27:33]your spirituality here's another label that people ask about in about a
[27:40]month everyone's going to be asking about halloween right every single year
[27:45]we are flooded with these questions say it is halloween haram or
[27:49]no can we go trick or treating so let's apply this discussion
[27:54]to this scenario now islam gives us the label what is the
[27:57]label supporting anything that is false any false ideas devilish ideas that's
[28:05]hama anytime you support corruption injustice something that is false something that
[28:12]is paganistic that's islam has outlawed that now come to the application
[28:18]when you go trick-or-treating with your children when halloween comes in your
[28:26]society in the society that you live in is this considered as
[28:29]supporting false beliefs and ideas is this considered as supporting pagan traditions
[28:39]and ideas if you live in a society where people say yes
[28:43]most people when you ask them they say yes if you go
[28:47]trick-or-treating you are supporting paganistic ideas you're supporting demonic ideas you're supporting
[28:52]these false traditions if that's the case what do you think the
[28:55]ruling would be then it would be hara the label would then
[28:59]apply but let's say your society says no if you go trick-or-treating
[29:05]for halloween you're just having a fun time with your children you're
[29:10]just going to eat candy that's all you're not supporting any false
[29:14]traditions you're not supporting any false beliefs if your society sees it
[29:19]that way and when i say society i don't mean one or
[29:22]two people when you look at society most people in society see
[29:27]it that way if they don't see it as supporting any false
[29:30]traditions then what would be the ruling in this case it would
[29:35]be permissible it would be so you see how the perception of
[29:41]your society is important in determining so many islamic laws because sometimes
[29:45]when people ask us this question and we tell them well what
[29:47]does society say one brother got frustrated with me he told me
[29:50]say it habibi i'm not asking you what society says tell me
[29:54]what islam says tell me what the medja says i'm telling him
[29:58]you have to understand how the system works how society views certain
[30:03]things is important in applying that label and by the way islam
[30:10]always wants us to be on top of what happens in society
[30:12]that's another purpose that the plays always for us to know the
[30:19]trends in our society what's going on in society how does society
[30:23]view these things it gives us a sense of awareness of what's
[30:28]going on and that's beautiful another question to give you more examples
[30:33]and applications that people ask about is yoga is yoga so you
[30:39]ask okay what's the concern with yoga it's just an exercise meditation
[30:43]types of exercise someone will come and say yeah but look at
[30:48]the origins of yoga it comes from hindu religions and it supports
[30:55]pagan thoughts nirvana everything being god there are some problematic aspects of
[31:02]it we go back to this discussion of applying the label to
[31:06]the subject in your society today if you practice yoga do people
[31:13]in society consider you as supporting hindu beliefs and their beliefs about
[31:20]the universe and its creation reincarnation nirvana you name it does your
[31:25]society view you as supporting these traditions or no society says you're
[31:31]just doing an exercise it's an effective type of exercise that you're
[31:37]doing mentally physically psychologically what does society say it's important for you
[31:44]to know what society says in order for you to know the
[31:46]ruling it's extremely important to my dear brothers and sisters for us
[31:52]to understand the perception of society when it comes to these issues
[31:56]that helps us in applying many of these islamic labels allah has
[32:01]given us the ruling but when it comes to the application you
[32:04]the human being make an effort to see how this is being
[32:09]applied in your society that helps you figure out the proper ruling
[32:14]for yourself and for your family and to always protect yourself from
[32:18]negative influences if something comes with a negative influence you avoid it
[32:23]but you have to know how it's being applied in society in
[32:26]order for you to make that determination to make that judgment there
[32:32]are many other examples my dear brothers and sisters many other examples
[32:36]in our everyday lives that people ask you know there's a card
[32:41]game is this card game look at the label is this considered
[32:47]a gambling game or no islam has outlawed any gambling game if
[32:50]society views this game as a gambling game it's hara if it
[32:56]doesn't it's not sometimes it's very simple we complicate things so it's
[33:01]important for us to see how these labels apply now my dear
[33:07]brothers and sisters one of the powerful labels that we have throughout
[33:14]history associated with imam hussain is to glorify the signs of imam
[33:17]al-hussein see the imams have added bay did not tell us exactly
[33:22]how to word imam hussain how to uphold his message they did
[33:27]based on the circumstances of their time but they left it open
[33:34]to societies across history to uphold the message of imam hussain alaihissalam
[33:39]in a way that's effective in their society now at the time
[33:44]of the imams of bait one powerful method to commemorate something to
[33:51]preserve the legacy of something was what poetry because arabs were known
[33:57]for poetry the highest art in arabia was eloquence and poetry the
[34:04]imams of adebate realized that poetry is a powerful vehicle that gets
[34:09]a message across so they encouraged poets to mourn in fact poets
[34:17]like abu harun they would come to alimony do you have any
[34:25]poetry for my grandfather hussein he would say yes i come from
[34:31]a family of poets and i have composed a poem eulogizing your
[34:36]grandfather hussein and he recites those lines of poetry um pass by
[34:47]the body of hussain and say to his blessed bones that's how
[34:53]it starts the imam tells him i want you to recite like
[34:55]the people of iraq recite you have come from allah i want
[35:01]you to reside in that sad tone why did that encourage that
[35:06]why did that have encouraged that because this was a powerful form
[35:10]of art in that society that would convey the message now this
[35:15]applies to different eras differently in our time if there is a
[35:22]way to convey the message of imam hussain al-islam that's very effective
[35:26]that's powerful this becomes muslim this becomes recommended to uphold the message
[35:32]of imam hussain to show the mawa and the love for the
[35:37]prophet's family look at your society my dear brothers and sisters and
[35:40]see what's effective and use those effective means to invite people to
[35:44]the message of imam hussain some of you attended last night as
[35:48]there was a re-enactment of the story of karbara this moved so
[35:55]many people now when you ask scholars and marajah is this mustahab
[35:58]is this recommended they will say yes show me a hadith that
[36:03]says a play or a re-enactment is do we have such a
[36:08]hadith scholars will tell you you don't need such a hadith because
[36:11]islam gave you the label uphold the message of imam or say
[36:13]mourn imam hussain show love for imam hussain if in your society
[36:19]a reenactment a play gets that message across this becomes one of
[36:25]the best recommended deeds and i invite all of the dear youth
[36:30]of our community my dear brothers and sisters to examine what's effective
[36:35]in your society if you're good at art use your art to
[36:38]invite people to imam hussain see what you excel at what you
[36:46]excel in and use that to dedicate it to the imam it's
[36:49]very powerful and this invites people to the message of imam be
[36:56]creative one of the sisters of our community who's with us here
[37:01]tonight one beautiful product that she produced was that cup that reminds
[37:08]you of hussain of the thirst of imam hussain when you pick
[37:14]it up you hear about imam al-hussein that's a beautiful way to
[37:22]bring the memory of imam hussain alive in our lives and so
[37:28]you take that label my dear brothers and sisters and find the
[37:31]appropriate application in your society you will be supporting the path of
[37:37]allah and the religion of allah subhana wa ta'ala let's now take
[37:41]our hearts to the land of karbala on the 11th of muharram
[37:48]when the family and the caravan of imam hussain they had to
[37:53]leave in what state did they leave the land of karbara omar
[37:58]bin sad he came and he called on the family of imam
[38:02]hussein he told them now we have to leave we have to
[38:05]go to kufa they brought the camels but in which state there
[38:10]were no covers on the humps of those camels they wanted to
[38:17]humiliate the family of the imam to make them suffer so they
[38:21]told them right on these camels we have to move those men
[38:25]they came in order to help the women and children ride on
[38:31]the camels ladies gentlemen became furious she told him you have the
[38:38]audacity to bring these men to help us mount on these camels
[38:42]did you forget who we are we are the woman of the
[38:48]family of the prophet sallallahu alaihi leave we will help ourselves ladies
[38:54]helps the woman and the children to mount on those camels then
[39:00]she realizes that she's the final person left who's going to now
[39:06]help lady zainab she looks to the right she looks to the
[39:08]left then she looks towards the mashla towards the river of it's
[39:14]as if she was waiting for her brother abbas abbas where are
[39:21]you abbas you are the one who helped me on this journey
[39:24]where are you now oh abbas she broke into tears when she
[39:31]remembered her brother abbas [Music] mentality [Music] could not stand that scene
[40:11]with his illness he came and he struggled to help lady zainab
[40:14]mount on the camel then those evil enemies they make those women
[40:19]and children pass by the bodies of the martyrs they farewelled the
[40:26]bodies of those martyrs lady zainab salam wanted to throw herself on
[40:30]the body of imam hussain imam zinder abhinit told her aunt zaina
[40:34]please don't do that to yourself you will get hurt and who's
[40:39]going to help you again so while on the camel she looked
[40:43]at the body of imam hussein and she told him yeah [Music]
[41:01]she calls on her grandfather she calls on her father she calls
[41:07]on her mother father ma'am but they take them on this treacherous
[41:11]journey to sham now the family of imam hussain they enter you
[41:16]know what was going on in damascus at the time yazid had
[41:20]ordered for a grand celebration when he was told that the family
[41:26]of imam hussain has arrived at the gates of sham he said
[41:28]keep them waiting for three days let's decorate the city let's celebrate
[41:33]come from a long journey those children when they would cry on
[41:38]that journey instead of being comforted they would be beaten by the
[41:42]back of the spears and now you arrive the city instead of
[41:45]someone offering you their condolences people are celebrating for the martyrdom of
[41:52]imam hussein he was one of the companions of the prophet sallallahu
[42:01]alaihi he says i came to the city of sham i saw
