[0:02][Music] [Music] [Music] first of all we thank allah and we praise

[0:51]him for giving us another chance to study the words of the

[0:57]holy quran alhamdulillah and since we are in the first class of

[1:04]year 2022 first quran class of year 2022 i wanted to start

[1:12]this year with the verse of light which is one of the

[1:18]most beautiful verses in the holy quran of course all verses of

[1:22]the quran are beautiful but some are more beautiful than others all

[1:26]verses of the quran are great but some verses are greater than

[1:33]others and you will you will understand after taking these classes and

[1:39]and you'll realize that as ayatu in suratul the verse of light

[1:46]in the chapter of light is one of the most beautiful and

[1:50]powerful verses of the holy book so we're going to start uh

[1:56]these classes this year with that holy verse and insha allah will

[2:01]illuminate our souls with the verse of light we are nila subhana

[2:11]this verse is verse 35 of surat in noor i'm going to

[2:16]send it to all of you on the chat section i sent

[2:21]you the arabic and i will send you the english as well

[2:27]the english translation or shakker it's a very interesting verse which speaks

[2:39]about allah guidance and obviously as we shall hear f1 now what's

[3:04]interesting about this verse is that allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala mentions it in

[3:14]a chapter that revolves around chastity the chapter known as surat nur

[3:20]the chapter of light revolves around the topic of chastity uh when

[3:27]we read that chapter we realize allah speaks about what he speaks

[3:33]about the forbiddens of fornication he speaks about the forbiddens of accusing

[3:38]people uh making false claims that they actually committed fornication uh he

[3:45]speaks about lowering your gaze about hijab uh the islamic hijab the

[3:50]islamic veil that our mothers and sisters wear he also speaks about

[3:58]for example seeking permission upon your parents when you want to enter

[4:02]upon them when should you seek permission when you shouldn't or or

[4:05]when is it not mandatory to seek permission etc so the surah

[4:10]the chapter revolves around chastity around effer an abstinence from indecent deeds

[4:20]abstinence from indecent deeds that relate to carnal desire in verse 35

[4:30]which is approximately in the midst of the chapter allah azzawajal mentions

[4:41]this verse that we're calling the verse of light which speaks about

[4:47]allah and allah this is quite interesting what is the relationship between

[4:52]you know the light of what is the relationship the relationship between

[5:05]allah guidance and chastity is a strong relationship why because number one

[5:13]allah commands us to be chaste he commands us to refrain from

[5:21]indecent deeds especially deeds that pertain to carnal desire and decent deeds

[5:28]pertaining to carnal desire secondly secondly or thirdly one of the best

[5:38]ways to control your carnal desire is what is remembering the advice

[5:47]of allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala the advice that he gives you through the

[5:50]holy quran and the advice of him in better terms when someone

[6:01]believes in god believes in believes that there is a hereafter and

[6:08]that ultimately if he commits indecencies and commits sins there there will

[6:16]be a punishment for those sins this in itself will will help

[6:20]him what will help him control his carnal desire whereas if a

[6:27]person isn't faithful if a person doesn't believe in god or the

[6:37]hereafter he doesn't believe that there's something called heaven in something called

[6:40]hell and that there are punishments for the sins that we commit

[6:43]in this world this person will be at a great disadvantage why

[6:50]because since he doesn't have that belief in the truth he is

[6:59]closer to following his carnal desire he's closer to being you know

[7:08]a slave of that desire and committing any indecency out there because

[7:13]at the end of the day he doesn't believe in the truth

[7:17]so he doesn't expect to be punished by allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala he

[7:24]doesn't expect to be punished by allah subhanahu wa due to that

[7:30]specific sin so what we're trying to say is the following when

[7:33]someone believes in god and believes in the message of god and

[7:40]the hereafter this in itself will push him towards what controlling his

[7:45]desire and abstaining from indecent deeds that pertain to his desire even

[7:53]if he feels the urge to commit something wrong there's an inner

[7:58]call that will tell him do not commit this sin because if

[8:03]you do you will be punished in the hereafter so that inner

[8:06]call will help him avoid the sin here we understand or we

[8:13]we gain a better understanding why allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala would mention the

[8:19]verse of light in suratul in the chapter that revolves around what

[8:26]around chastity and abstinence when i say abstinence i'm talking about absence

[8:33]from uh indecent deeds that pertain to carnal desire so this surah

[8:39]surah nur a chapter of what of chastity revolves around that topic

[8:48]thus we have a hadith in the book which mentions one of

[8:59]the effects of surat in let me share the hadith with you

[9:07]before we read it and explain it yes milan just going over

[9:23]um some of the points that you mentioned you were saying indecent

[9:30]deed yes now by indecent can also be indecent act yes yes

[9:40]sorry we cut off for a little bit yes there's no difference

[9:46]between an indecent deed or an indecent act so one more thing

[9:52]in regards of behavior because most of um the way we act

[9:59]kind of shows on a person if they're going or doing something

[10:04]to hurt themselves or hurt others because you mentioned cardinal you mentioned

[10:12]cardinal desire yes i'm not sure about cardinal desire personally because i

[10:20]haven't looked it up or even thought about it or even know

[10:24]what that means but i'll let you do the rest okay no

[10:29]problem i'll clarify inshallah so when we're when we're talking about carnal

[10:34]desire we're talking about you know um desiring the opposite gender right

[10:39]or having a you know having a sexual desire towards the opposite

[10:45]gender or even towards the same gender which is obviously unlawful right

[10:48]so surat nur focuses on the topic of chastity and abstaining from

[10:57]these deeds like fornication like for example indecent looks lustful looks towards

[11:06]the opposite gender etc it focuses on that topic so when we're

[11:11]talking about indecent deeds we're talking about fornication and its prerequisites the

[11:18]deeds that lead to fornication or adultery the hadith we mentioned is

[11:24]found in the book by sheikh sadok he said protect your money

[11:52]protect your wealth and protect yourselves from committing indecent deeds that pertain

[12:01]to carnal desire by doing what by reciting surat so surat nur

[12:08]has two effects number one if you recite it constantly number one

[12:14]it protects your wealth and number two protects you from what from

[12:20]adultery from fornication from the prerequisites of adultery and fornication etc then

[12:25]he said and protect your women through suratul what does that mean

[12:35]exactly protect your women through surat nur we can understand two points

[12:41]here either the imam is telling us read surat nur in the

[12:45]presence of your women in the presence of your wives your daughters

[12:51]your mothers etc or he's saying let them read it let them

[13:00]read it and understand it so when he says the imam is

[13:04]telling us that i don't want only men to read surat nur

[13:07]i want men and women to read it it's a chapter that

[13:11]we all need men and women need this chapter especially when especially

[13:18]in this era the era of temptations the era of you know

[13:24]misguidance the era in which you have movements trying to turn human

[13:29]beings into mere animals mere pigs that only care about their carnal

[13:37]desire tells us what protect yourselves protect yourselves uh through surat and

[13:48]also protect your women through this surah then he said on a

[14:13]daily basis or a nightly basis none of his family members who

[14:19]are part of his household will fall into fornication so long that

[14:25]he is alive so he's saying that if someone recites surat nur

[14:29]every day or every night the choice is yours if someone recites

[14:34]suit at the note every day or every night what's going to

[14:36]happen no one amongst his household no one amongst his family members

[14:43]who are part of his household will fall into fornication so long

[14:47]that this person is alive why how can we understand this issue

[14:54]how can uh why wouldn't anyone amongst his family members amongst his

[15:02]household fall into fornication so long that he's alive here we can

[15:07]understand two points in better terms there are two possibilities number one

[15:11]when this person is reciting surat nur daily or nightly his family

[15:17]members are hearing him right uh it's very likely that they're hearing

[15:20]their recitation and when they hear the recitation of surat and have

[15:27]a basic understanding of the contents of surat nur this will increase

[15:34]their chastity it will make them more chaste and so it will

[15:38]push them away from what from fornication and its prerequisites this is

[15:44]one possibility the other possibility is even if they don't hear the

[15:52]recitation of this individual the fact that he's reciting surat nur every

[15:56]day or every night in his house the fact that he's reciting

[16:03]this surah every day or every night in his house his recitation

[16:07]will create a positive atmosphere in his house his recitation will have

[16:17]a natural effect and one of those natural effects will be what

[16:23]uh increasing the chastity of his family members at the end of

[16:32]the day the quran is a marvelous book that contains a lot

[16:36]of secrets and we cannot neglect the fact that the the words

[16:44]of the quran have effects the recitation of the quran has effects

[16:49]that we might know and effect that we might not know so

[16:52]it's possible that even if our family members do not listen to

[16:58]the recitation of surat nur by simply reciting it in our house

[17:05]every day or every night this will cause a positive atmosphere an

[17:09]atmosphere of chastity to exist within our house and as a result

[17:15]the members of our household will not commit zina will not commit

[17:19]fornication as long as we are alive because we're constantly reciting what

[17:25]that surah then he said uh when the man or the lady

[17:41]who recites surat nur on a daily or nightly basis passes away

[17:44]70 thousand angels will be present in his burial precision procession and

[17:52]they will be walking behind his corpse all of them will be

[18:07]supplicating for him and will be asking allah to forgive him until

[18:12]he is what until he is buried which means that so long

[18:17]that the burial procession is taking place and the person has not

[18:20]entered his grave yet these angels will be praying for him and

[18:26]asking allah imam says all of them will be praying for him

[18:36]and seeking forgiveness from allah for that individual
