[0:18]you [Music] respected brothers and sisters and sisters and brothers may Allah
[1:03]subhana accept your prayers your fasts your Deeds your during this holy
[1:08]month before going into the lecture tonight the original title of it
[1:18]is the metaphysics of modernity reclaiming Islamic wisdom in an age of
[1:23]materialism now they said it it wouldn't fit on the flyer so
[1:28]I had to shrink it but this is this is the original
[1:33]version and it's revolving around the idea of Islamic wisdom being lost
[1:38]and the fact that we live at a time where we want
[1:41]to reclaim this wisdom that has been lost but before IND delving
[1:47]into this I wanted to briefly speak about an incident that occurred
[1:51]not too long ago over here in Dearborn on Ford Road there
[1:54]was an accident I think about seven cars have crashed and it's
[1:59]not the first accident that happens here the accidents that are happening
[2:02]in our community are becoming more and more frequent a lot of
[2:06]people are driving in a crazy fashion and we forget that islamically
[2:13]it's Haram to do anything that brings harm onto other people you
[2:20]might have an adrenaline rush you might feel like you're a good
[2:24]dri but the speed limits are there in order to protect people
[2:29]they don't just make up random numbers and put them on the
[2:32]street that street can't handle in terms of his safety driving over
[2:38]a certain speed limit the way the cars have to turn in
[2:43]u-turns stopping at red lights stopping at stop signs they didn't put
[2:47]them because they want to control us they're there because they organize
[2:50]our lives and they protect one another it's our responsibility as Muslims
[2:56]before Allah subhah wa ta'ala to make sure we maintain this so
[3:01]it's understand is very clear and Mar about it being Haram to
[3:08]go against the law you have to obey the law if you're
[3:10]going over the speed limit you're committing a sin you're committing Haram
[3:15]you're putting other people in danger so this is not acceptable please
[3:21]if you are a youth member if you're want to act like
[3:25]you're a youth individual and drive fast with your car please be
[3:29]wary especially Shah Ramadan I know you're fasting sometimes you're in a
[3:33]hurry you want to go home you want to eat but you're
[3:37]putting your life in danger in the lives of others in danger
[3:40]this is not acceptable please be wary of the laws be careful
[3:45]and as a Muslim the prophet and the IMs have ordered us
[3:52]not to cause any harm to other people especially on the roads
[3:56]we have a Hadith where the Prophet used to say to the
[4:01]people that don't even sit on a place where people are walking
[4:04]because you're causing them harm you move away you want to talk
[4:10]you talk somewhere else in public space you're not allowed to act
[4:12]as if it's your own private property in another Hadith of prophet
[4:16]says he whoever removes a thorn From the Path where people walk
[4:22]will go to Jenna for that removing harm from people's ways imagine
[4:27]if you're the one who's causing the harm these people have have
[4:30]families they want to come back to their homes people have children
[4:36]have mothers have fathers it's not right because you want to drive
[4:39]faster not obey the law to cause damage to them and to
[4:43]harm them and to take someone's life and this person can never
[4:46]come back why because of the wrong decision that you've made in
[4:48]that one instant please be wary be careful keep this in mind
[4:54]Muhammad Muhammad the topic which I want to speak about today revolves
[5:14]around these new Concepts that would have been brought up in what
[5:18]they call as new age spiritualism or in postmodern psychology the psychology
[5:26]that we have going around nowadays and I don't want to critique
[5:29]today today I just want to make us pay attention to something
[5:35]a lot of the concepts that have been developed and that are
[5:41]coming and entering our lives are Concepts that existed in our religion
[5:45]before they've been taken from the religions that wisdom and they've been
[5:50]rebranded they've been given different names and the cycle of humanity usually
[5:57]happens like this we create a change in our societies and our
[6:04]lives so at one period of time everybody decided that science is
[6:08]the way to go everything has to be scientific and everything has
[6:13]to be logical there's no spirituality there's no emotions there's not much
[6:20]focus on this the humans lived with this mentality for hundreds of
[6:23]years and then they've realized that this is causing a lot of
[6:29]problems for Humanity there's a lot of questions that science and reason
[6:32]are unable to answer for us so they said okay let's change
[6:39]this this is the shift from the modernist movement to the postmodernist
[6:45]movement rationality isn't always the way to go it cannot give us
[6:48]all the answers reason and logic cannot answer every single thing in
[6:52]this reality there are things that go beyond the Mind Beyond Reason
[6:56]Beyond logic so they rejected this narrative and now they've adopted another
[7:05]narrative which is the postmodern narrative and that's focused on the subjectivity
[7:12]of Truth every single claim could be valid in terms of psychology
[7:18]it's beginning to acknowledge certain problems that we humans have and these
[7:25]problems are real issues and they're causing what they referred to as
[7:31]mental health issues and causing a lot of depression in individuals so
[7:36]there's an extra focus on this negative aspect of suffering when we
[7:42]come to our religion and I'm going to give you a few
[7:47]examples of this a lot of these Concepts that they've been speaking
[7:50]about nowadays you can find them in ouri and in the Quran
[7:53]the problem is we haven't explored our religion good enough why one
[8:00]of the reasons is because a lot of us look at religion
[8:04]as a Haram and Halal thing you you tell a person what
[8:11]is Islam you know we say okay we have laws something that's
[8:14]Haram something that's Halal permissible or forbidden something that's obligatory waj something
[8:20]that's must recommended something that's Mak which is disliked this is what
[8:27]Islam is but in reality Islam is more than just rules and
[8:31]regulations the rules and regulations make up a very small portion of
[8:38]the religion the majority of a religion is teaching us how to
[8:42]live as human beings this is the majority of it if you
[8:48]open alfi the book of Hadith that we have the in it
[8:50]don't make the most of it there might be repetitive Hadith regarding
[8:54]aam but the concept ofam wasn't what Islam came to teach us
[9:00]it's a portion it's a portion just to regulate our lives but
[9:03]Islam over the course of history had been taken over by the
[9:07]jurists by those who make the laws and because they are the
[9:13]ones who became dominant in the field they began to interpret everything
[9:17]in religion based on the rulings whenever I used to go somewhere
[9:22]to speak and after that there's a question and answer session the
[9:28]majority of the time what do people think they should asked the
[9:30]Sheikh she is music Halal is this NES I have a brother
[9:38]every single day he has like 10 questions about Nas andar every
[9:41]single day this guy he's waking up in the morning and sleeping
[9:45]and all he cares about is this n is this before I
[9:47]came here I got a voice message from him I get anxiety
[9:51]When I See This guy's name on my phone he said that
[9:54]all the shakes blocked him I'm the only one hasn't blocked him
[9:57]yet he Trav to not too long ago he wanted to study
[10:02]himself I thought he wanted to spare us he said let me
[10:06]go find the answers myself so I had to keep asking cuz
[10:08]they keep blocking him all the local Scholars have blocked him so
[10:12]he went there he went to Iran and he said she I
[10:17]can't believe it there's so many turbin over here I can ask
[10:19]any question I want to anyone on the street this guy was
[10:23]living in his dream world he got a thousand turbin on the
[10:25]street anytime a question Pops in his head there's a she right
[10:29]next to him on the spot then he comes back to me
[10:33]the next day he's like sh what is this they don't speak
[10:35]Arabic over here they speak Persian so he started to call me
[10:40]back again I thought I was I was like Sav so I
[10:41]told him look before you go to the hza go learn Persian
[10:46]please learn the language and then go to havza that way whatever
[10:48]you have a question whatever you see on the on the road
[10:52]you can ask him please spare me from these questions like he
[10:55]comes up with the craziest scenarios and I'm sure you guys have
[10:58]there's always one person in the group that has like the craziest
[11:03]scenarios like a drop of urine I've never seen anyone analyze the
[11:11]movement of urine from one surface to another as much as these
[11:14]people that care about Nas andar what if it moved from this
[11:19]surface and it went down and some stepped on it then he
[11:21]moved to the ledge and then the ledge and this goes on
[11:24]and how do you think about this for so long so it
[11:29]becomes an obsessive thing and yes ruling sometimes makes us obsess make
[11:35]us obsessive they doah who was one of our great Scholars he
[11:41]came from jabal from Lebanon during the safid era in Iran his
[11:49]father had moved the Iranian Empire there the safis the safavids they
[11:54]called them they converted to shiism or they the the religion became
[12:01]sh religion in Iran and they didn't have Scholars so what they
[12:04]did was they looked where are their great Scholars at that time
[12:10]and most of them were in Lebanon jabal was a land of
[12:13]scholarship we had many great Scholars of shiism that came from that
[12:16]region so the king of the seit Empire sent over to Lebanon
[12:22]a a request to bring Scholars over to begin teaching there and
[12:27]to help the Empire so one of the people that were invited
[12:30]was sheikah's father and Sheik bahai was taken alongside with them of
[12:38]course they suffered on their way his father has a very nice
[12:43]book that he wrote he called it the trip the journey from
[12:46]Lebanon to Iran and this is about maybe 500 or so years
[12:52]ago and he he Journeys he he writes down the journey and
[12:55]what he went through and the guy he suffered a lot he
[12:59]got robbed on the way it's a very interesting book I I
[13:01]really wish they could they could translate this but when he was
[13:11]passing through Iraq there was a tribe over there that robbed everything
[13:16]from them everything all their belongings their money their food everything back
[13:19]then they didn't have cars they were traveling with animals he passes
[13:24]that and he said it was a group of Kurdish people it
[13:29]was the Kurds at that time the Kurds of of Iraq now
[13:31]I'm not saying the Kurds are are thieves or anything I'm just
[13:34]saying that this is the description that was in the book he
[13:37]said we passed these guys and then we went to another group
[13:43]of people there they saw we have nothing what happened to you
[13:46]what's wrong he said we were passing by this land and then
[13:48]these guys they attacked us and they took everything we have we
[13:52]have no more food no more clothes no more money nothing he
[13:54]said the king at that tribe he was so generous he gave
[13:59]them everything and more he said this is yours take it for
[14:02]the rest of your journey when he when they passed he says
[14:06]we passed by the Kurds of Iran you know the Kurds they
[14:11]Iranian Kurds and and Iraqi Kurds as soon as we got to
[14:15]the Iranian curds they robbed us again and I felt it was
[14:17]maybe it was a very smart tactic they knew there was a
[14:21]generous King in the middle the first group said okay well Rob
[14:24]whatever they got from there then when these guys are given and
[14:26]compensated these other guys will rob them and then they went both
[14:31]ways but anyways nothing against the curds I'm just saying at that
[14:33]time it just happened that he went through that path and there
[14:35]were a lot of people on the road that usually robbed people
[14:39]but he made it to Iran and he lived there and he
[14:41]wrote a lot of works and his sonah also became a very
[14:46]very great scholar he wrote on so many topics he became an
[14:48]astronomist a jurist a philosopher a Mystic aif he was a grand
[14:55]scholar a lot of the architecture in esphahan if you go to
[14:59]esphahan there for tourism like the the bridge that they have and
[15:02]other other things that they have over there as architecture for tourists
[15:09]sheah had designed them he was an architect as well a philosopher
[15:12]and an architect this is what our Scholars were before not just
[15:16]the person that says this is Hal and that's haramah has a
[15:22]very well-known book it's a small book it's called this book is
[15:31]basically all the the actions that you do from the morning to
[15:34]night time everything we have in the as soon as you wake
[15:39]up until you sleep what we have a telling us what to
[15:40]do he put in that book it's not a very good book
[15:43]big book so from the moment you wake up until you sleep
[15:47]what is must what is Mak what is what is this what
[15:53]is that basically a daily program a daily manual in this book
[15:56]when it comes to the first Salat to pray the first Salah
[16:03]to pray he talks about how to pray he says okay the
[16:06]before that you make your intention so he'll bring okay make the
[16:13]intention and then he has a segment that he talked about the
[16:17]issue of intention he said that during this time a number of
[16:24]Scholars are focusing so much on the rules of the intention and
[16:29]I get this I get asked a lot by people how do
[16:33]I make the intention for Salat what do I say if I
[16:35]say it this way does it make my Salat wrong if I
[16:38]say it that way does it wrong make it wrong there are
[16:42]many rules regarding making an intention for Salat and he said because
[16:47]of all these rules and this dissecting of the rules people are
[16:52]becoming obsessed OCD they don't know how to pray anymore they're thinking
[16:58]about the int when the intention is supposed to be a very
[17:02]simple issue intention is if anybody asks you what you're doing you
[17:08]should know what you're doing that's what the intention is if I
[17:12]tell you what are you doing now I'm sitting down that's your
[17:14]intention what are you doing now I'm eating that's your intention you
[17:17]just have to be aware of what you're doing that's all you
[17:20]have that's all the intention is it doesn't require a formula yes
[17:24]it's must to say your intention out loud but it's not a
[17:27]mechanical thing the intent is is supposed to be a natural thing
[17:32]inside of your heart you're conscious and you're aware of what you're
[17:35]doing but this has turned into a rule and rules if you
[17:41]dissect them they become complicated and then you start complicating your life
[17:46]islamically the intention is there in order for you to be aware
[17:52]of what you're doing it's not meant to complicate your worship so
[17:56]says because of this complication people people are suffering from obsessiveness they're
[18:01]unable to pray properly anymore and when it comes toam don't become
[18:08]obsessed with them remember that the religion came to teach you how
[18:13]to be a good human being a spiritual human being a person
[18:17]who lives a meaningful life for Allah subhah wa ta'ala this is
[18:22]the objective of religion when prayer was ordained it wasn't because God
[18:27]wants you to make these movements only so that you focus on
[18:33]them there was one person at the Masid over here years ago
[18:36]he used to pray with with a very loud voice and everybody
[18:42]knew this individual why because allahar and he gets stuck at for
[18:49]like five minutes no and he just goes on and on and
[19:00]on is this a prayer this is not a prayer you're focusing
[19:02]on the form of a prayer and you forgot is this what
[19:09]Allah wants from you to perfect the syllable of in the name
[19:13]of God that's what it means the most merciful the most compassionate
[19:15]God wants you to be aware that when you're doing something do
[19:20]it in his name it doesn't require so much focus on the
[19:23]outside the spirit of the H is what matters yes you have
[19:28]to maintain the form but in an acceptable way not in an
[19:30]insane and obsessive way so the intention is for you to be
[19:35]aware of what you're doing to be conscious of Your Action when
[19:41]you're praying make sure your mind is in your prayer don't be
[19:44]praying and calculating how much bills you got to pay don't be
[19:48]praying and thinking about what you want to play fortnite when you're
[19:52]done how many points you have which level you're at when you're
[19:58]praying make sure you disconnect from everything else I'm praying I'm aware
[20:04]of my prayer this is what the intention is for so because
[20:07]of the suffering of humanity nowadays they beginning to come up with
[20:12]Concepts and ideas that are supposed to help us cope with our
[20:17]problems and I have a few examples that I'm going to share
[20:22]with you over here inshallah Muhammad Muhammad yesterday I didn't drink so
[20:40]much water it always depends on what you eat today I had
[20:43]and they had a lot of commun in there so I'm probably
[20:47]going to drink we're going to get a few more salawats tonight
[20:49]inshallah Muhammad Muhammad one of these issues new that this modern perception
[21:04]tells us about is to be mindful mindfulness is a very nice
[21:07]concept and these are all beautiful Concepts to have you have to
[21:13]be a mindful individual Yes sounds wonderful to be mindful means to
[21:21]be present in the moment to be aware of your actions to
[21:24]be aware of what you're doing and if you live a mindful
[21:28]life you live a life that is fulfilled yes that's very beautiful
[21:36]it's true in Islam this concept already exists now it's not called
[21:40]mindfulness but this idea of intentionality to have that intention to be
[21:46]aware of what you're doing to have to invoke God's name to
[21:54]remember God is mindfulness is just a different word for it religion
[21:58]came to teach us how to live it came as a way
[22:03]of life it understands the human problem God says you as a
[22:08]human I created you I know that as a human you're going
[22:12]to need certain things to live a happy life inside of you
[22:18]one of those things that you have to be mindful if you
[22:23]do things without good awareness and you're not present in what you're
[22:26]doing then you're going to feel like you have a life that's
[22:29]not fulfilled so Allah gives us things to teach us how to
[22:32]be mindful the problem is we' taken religion as a set of
[22:37]rules and regulations and we haven't taken the real meaning of religion
[22:41]when I'm praying it's not because if I don't pray I go
[22:44]to hell God doesn't need my Salat he taught us to pray
[22:50]because that praying is what detaches us from our daily activities when
[22:54]I pray it should be the moment where I am not thinking
[22:59]of anything regarding in my life I'm teaching myself to become detached
[23:04]how to live in that moment of remembrance when I'm praying is
[23:09]when I say allahar and I forget the whole world around me
[23:12]this is what Salat is the prophet says it's the ascent of
[23:20]the believer when the prophet is saying this what is he talking
[23:22]about is he trying to be both poetic with us he's not
[23:25]he's telling us of a reality if you pray it should Elevate
[23:30]you as an individual so mindfulness is a thing that people talk
[23:36]about and the religion has already spoken to us about this over
[23:38]a thousand years ago it's like people are resorting back to the
[23:45]wisdom of religious after they had abandoned it they said okay religion
[23:48]is nonsense we don't need it well they've tried a life without
[23:51]it going back to what religion used to teach but they can't
[23:57]admit it so they a different name mindfulness is one of those
[24:04]things and Remembrance invocation when we are taught how to perform which
[24:14]is invoking God's name remembering Allah subhah wa ta'ala this helps us
[24:19]be mindful and aware of every moment in our life to live
[24:24]in the presence of Allah subhana wa tala Allah says with the
[24:29]remembrance of Allah the hearts will be tranquil what is God talking
[24:36]about here we read this verse so many times but did we
[24:40]ever contemplate remembrance brings Tranquility meaning living in that God conscious moment
[24:47]not being distracted this is what viid is supposed to lead you
[24:51]to not just saying it with your mouth another thing that they
[24:58]say nowadays is very good for for every person to have to
[25:01]live a better life is gratitude this is something that a lot
[25:04]of you have heard and it's also you know people write about
[25:07]it all the time with their on their post and the reals
[25:10]to be to have gratitude to be thankful for what you have
[25:13]why because it brings positivity into your life it makes you someone
[25:19]who is happier in their life because you're remembering the things that
[25:23]are good to you and you're being thankful for them well the
[25:27]Quran is replete with this concept concept theith are replete with this
[25:31]concept of thankfulness of gratitude after every we have 33 times in
[25:43]that what do you say alhamdulillah right our Scholars teach us every
[25:50]time you see alhamdulillah think about something that you have in your
[25:55]life that's a blessing on that day imagine you do this five
[25:57]times a day if you have any problem in your life and
[26:03]for a moment you sit down and you recount how much good
[26:07]you have in your life you you forget your problem you finish
[26:11]your Salat let's say you're going through some difficulty because of your
[26:15]job because of your friends because of your family because of any
[26:19]life problem you finish Salat you sit down and you do alhamdulillah
[26:25]the first alhamdulillah you think alhamdulillah I'm living alhamdulillah again alhamdulillah I'm
[26:30]breathing alhamdulillah I have my health alhamdulillah I have my parents alhamdulillah
[26:35]I have my friends alhamdulillah I had food today alhamdulillah I have
[26:40]a shelter that covers my head alhamdulillah I can walk on my
[26:43]feet alhamdulillah I can speak alhamdulillah I can read if you recount
[26:49]all the blessings that you have in your life then you're going
[26:52]to put your worries behind you because you have so many good
[26:56]things you can focus on in your life that you don't have
[26:57]to think about your negative it diminishes it when do I suffer
[27:04]from negative things when the goodness diminishes in my life when I
[27:08]focus on only the bad it becomes so big because I'm not
[27:14]thinking of any good but when I focus on all the good
[27:17]and that expands in my mind and my heart then the bad
[27:22]will diminish the problem that you thought was very big shrinks and
[27:25]becomes small in your life why because the Great things that you
[27:31]have in your life are so much that this becomes insignificant in
[27:34]the face of those that's all right I have a million good
[27:36]things and I have these few bad things over here that's fine
[27:41]it's not a big deal I still have a good life so
[27:45]being mindful having gratitude is something that the religion has emphasized on
[27:52]why because as human beings if we have gratitude it improves the
[27:57]quality of our life Allah knows that so that's why he tells
[28:04]us whoever thanks me will flourish in their life whoever thanks someone
[28:08]who is a Believer is as if he thanked me as well
[28:13]thank your parents thank your friends have a life of gratitude appreciate
[28:17]what you have once you appreciate what you have the quality of
[28:21]your life begins to increase the difference between the secular concept which
[28:26]is the psychologic one and the religious one is that the secular
[28:31]one looks to bring you some calmness in your life and it
[28:34]stops over there the religious Concepts doesn't end over there yes a
[28:41]side effect of it is you're going to have a very good
[28:45]life in this world as well everything the secular will promise you
[28:49]the religion will give you as well but the difference is religion
[28:52]will give you even more than that because the religious concept is
[28:55]that there's a soul not only a body that's being affected here
[29:01]and the soul is infinite it's not limited to certain chemicals in
[29:04]the body only if you have an infinite Soul then you have
[29:09]an infinite amount of levels that you can increase in Perfection so
[29:14]today you feel tranquil and it's not a constant state that you
[29:17]feel that everybody feels a similar way the Tranquility will change if
[29:24]you thought this is tranquility wait until you practice even more prayer
[29:28]and more spirituality and more mindfulness you reach a deeper level of
[29:32]tranquility and your soul begins to expand and expand and expand so
[29:38]that when you say alhamdulillah the next time it's a very different
[29:42]alhamdulillah than you had before because before your awareness was this much
[29:46]and the more you have gratitude the more you have contemplation the
[29:51]more you have thinking the more you thank for what you have
[29:53]you run out of things and then you start thinking of other
[29:57]things that you didn't thank for oh wait a a second I
[29:59]forgot that I have this blessing in my life you begin to
[30:02]remember it then you remember all the other blessings this is living
[30:07]a life of mindfulness living a life of awareness we have so
[30:11]many things in our life that we don't think about why because
[30:14]we're distracted by the immediate things that we're doing so religion puts
[30:18]in our life things to give us a stop stop for a
[30:23]moment take a break if you continue this way you're going to
[30:26]destroy yourself if you're playing games from morning toight you're going to
[30:35]destroy yourself enjoy worldly things but give yourself a break when the
[30:40]prophet sallallahu alaih wasallam was busy even spreading the message of Allah
[30:45]subhana wa ta'ala he also needed a break he got tired as
[30:50]well people were asking him questions all the time bombarding him with
[30:54]things there were Wars that were going on he also had a
[30:57]lot of stress when he wanted to relieve him stress from himself
[31:03]from the stress what did he used to do he used to
[31:08]go to the when it was prayer time and he wouldn't tell
[31:11]him he didn't tell him go call on thean he told him
[31:18]give us comfort and bil knew at that moment he had to
[31:23]go and do Adan because the prophet found his comfort in Salat
[31:27]in Salat you encounter Allah subhana wa ta'ala who is the most
[31:31]perfect and loving being if you go and you complain to a
[31:35]friend that friend might have some jealousy they might not give you
[31:40]the best advice they might judge you if you want to tell
[31:44]them something but if you stand on your prayer man and you
[31:48]speak to Allah subhana wa tala God will never judge you God
[31:53]never has jealousy he doesn't want to destroy you he just loves
[31:57]you and he will do everything everything to help you because he
[31:59]created you so to sit down in your Salat and to have
[32:04]that honest and true conversation with Allah subhana wa say Allah I'm
[32:08]tired of everything around me I'm tired of the people I'm tired
[32:12]of my work I'm tired of everything I'm I'm just exhausted I
[32:15]want to talk to you about this problem Allah tells us five
[32:21]times a day I open the door for you sit down forget
[32:23]the world when you say Allah abbar imagine your life outside of
[32:28]the Salah doesn't exist you don't have a house you don't have
[32:31]bills you don't have a family you don't have a mom you
[32:34]don't have kids you you don't have nobody nothing and the Salat
[32:38]moment is only you and Allah subhana wa tala nothing else exists
[32:42]forget everything in your life imagine how much weight comes off of
[32:46]your shoulders to have those moments where you're allowed to remove all
[32:53]the troubles until you finish Salat then you come back to your
[32:58]normal life but now you come back re-energized you come back with
[33:00]more mindfulness with more awareness salot is supposed to do this to
[33:05]us we have such a beautiful tool five times a day we
[33:09]do them really if we treat Salat the right way all of
[33:14]us would be in the most perfect spiritual State we have an
[33:17]exercise that we're doing every single day but we're doing it wrong
[33:20]it's like someone who goes to the gym five times a day
[33:26]and just keeps lifting the lightest weights they'll never Advance you're doing
[33:30]it wrong this is not how you exercise or somebody who wants
[33:34]to exercise they go by that Wii you know the Wii Nintendo
[33:37]Wii they had the you know the running the running uh games
[33:40]and you get the remote and you start moving your hands and
[33:44]then it says you ran like 10 miles but you didn't really
[33:46]run so you said oh I ran 10 miles today no you
[33:51]didn't run 10 miles today you thought you did the we told
[33:55]you but you didn't you run 10 miles when you go out
[33:57]and you run 10 miles so Salat is the same thing if
[34:02]you pray without that focus and the and really actively trying to
[34:07]detach yourself from everything you're not going to get the benefit of
[34:11]it but you pray with focus and with mindfulness that Salat will
[34:18]transform the way you live even if you did one ra with
[34:20]focus it will change the way you live so a lot of
[34:25]these things that are being brought to us in the modern uh
[34:28]time that we're living Islam has already told us about them and
[34:33]it's time for us to understand now more than before maybe before
[34:38]it was hard to understand this but now with all these Concepts
[34:41]that are coming to improve our lives this gives us an ability
[34:45]to go back to our religion and explore what the religion had
[34:50]taught us go back to your Dean go back to your the
[34:51]wisdom that Allah subhana tala has given us if you have suffering
[34:57]in your life we're return to your religion read the Hadith that
[35:01]talk about gratitude talk about remembrance of Allah talk about forgiveness to
[35:05]forgive people not to have grudges for example a lot of these
[35:09]Concepts came to relieve us from suffering of course there are a
[35:16]lot of other Concepts to talk about but I just wanted to
[35:18]bring you as an example in order for us to understand that
[35:23]the religion didn't come to add a burden to our lives it
[35:25]came to relieve us of all the other burdens in our life
[35:32]because living in this dun is difficult wanting to survive it's not
[35:35]easy to survive as a human being we have to eat we
[35:39]have to decide what to eat every day imagine how difficult that
[35:43]is what do we eat it's difficult enough to live in this
[35:50]world right ald we have blessings here we have so many things
[35:54]that we can eat other countries they don't have this blessing they
[35:56]don't know what I mean the option that they have they're so
[36:02]Bland I've been to a country where lime is not used because
[36:05]it's too much for them spices are not used everything is just
[36:08]boiled very bland food aldah we have a blessing here but living
[36:13]in this D is challenging we need to grow we have viruses
[36:16]that want to survive they come inside of us bacteria we have
[36:23]health issues so religion didn't come to add another burden to us
[36:26]they came understanding okay yeah insan oh human beings Allah put you
[36:30]here and it's very challenging from the moment you begin these are
[36:34]tools for you to take in order to assist you to live
[36:39]properly in this world without so much worry and so much trouble
[36:42]so change your understanding of religion try to do that in this
[36:46]holy month I ask Allah subhana T to grant us the wisdom
[36:52]which he has sent forth for us in order to live a
[36:55]better lifeam for
