[4:53]muhammad muhammad the martyrdom of gossein hussein his companions and his families
[5:20]are in karbala the seventh of muharram is a very tragic day
[5:24]in the event of karbala on this day water was stopped from
[5:28]reaching hussein's camp it was very hot in karbala as the days
[5:32]went by the children became very thirsty the cry of became more
[5:39]frequent tonight is the night of qasim the 13 year old son
[5:42]of imam hussein and umi farooq ashura came to the land of
[5:47]karbala ali al akbar gave the fajr adan everybody prayed the fajr
[5:52]salat one by one hussein's companions went to the battlefield and gave
[5:56]their life for islam they all became martyrs shaheed shaheed al karbala
[6:02]by the her time imam hussein was left with only his family
[6:05]oun and muhammad qasem al akbar and abbas the companions of imam
[6:11]hussain whilst they were alive did not let imam hussain's family go
[6:14]to the battlefield no one was left now iran and muhammad were
[6:20]keen to help their uncle save islam they went to the battlefield
[6:24]and never returned qasem took permission from his mother farwa to fight
[6:29]then he went to his uncle hussein to ask for his permission
[6:33]to fight how can hussein give permission to his brother's son to
[6:36]die how can he allow a young child to die qasem you
[6:40]are young you are the only child of your mother qasem you
[6:43]are my brother's son i have promised my brother to look after
[6:47]you my darling qasem you are the image of my brother you
[6:50]remind me of hassan no qasem no i cannot allow you to
[6:54]die qasem was very disappointed he went to his mother for help
[6:58]his mother reminded him of the taweez his father had tied to
[7:01]his arm qasem opened the taweez and placed inside found a letter
[7:06]for hussein qasem was pleased to see the letter he took the
[7:09]letter to his uncle hussein hussein read the letter from his brother
[7:13]hassan brother hussein a day will come when islam will need to
[7:17]be saved by sacrifice hussein i will not be alive on that
[7:20]day however my son will be there it is my wish that
[7:24]qasem should represent me on that day my dearest qasem how can
[7:28]i stop you now go qasem go he took qasem to sayida
[7:31]zainab zainab bring me hassan's rabbaya in his turban hussein just qasem
[7:37]with hassan's cloak and turban zainab look at qasem doesn't he look
[7:41]handsome he looks just like our brother hassan tears flowed from hussein's
[7:46]and zainab's eyes as he as they remembered their brother hussein just
[7:50]qasem when the with the battlefield uniform and gave him the weapons
[7:54]a young child with adult weapons qasem was so young that his
[7:57]sword touched the ground as he walked he could not mount his
[8:01]horse on his own abbas his uncle helped him mount the horse
[8:06]the young fighter qasem rode to the battlefield a rider whose feet
[8:10]did not reach the syrups the foot straps on the horse but
[8:14]he was keen to save islam he was the young son of
[8:17]hassan the grandson of ali and was he was trained by abbas
[8:21]qasim fought gallantly he fought a battle history will never forget the
[8:25]enemy could not overpower him one of yazid's cowardly soldiers came from
[8:30]behind and hit qasem and of the on the head with a
[8:35]sword qasem was covered in blood the young qasim thirsty for three
[8:39]days could not take it anymore he fell from a horse as
[8:42]he fell he cried out oh uncle come quickly help me uncle
[8:46]hussein and abbas rushed to the battlefield dreadful events then took place
[8:51]the enemies of islam that thought that hussein and abbas were coming
[8:54]to attack them they got scared there was confusion horses ran from
[8:59]one side to another from here to there from there to here
[9:02]the horses ran over to qasem who was lying wounded on the
[9:05]ground he got trampled on hussein and abbas were searching for qasem
[9:10]my darling qasem where are you qasem speak to your uncle qasem
[9:14]qasem where are you my son qasem could not reply qasem had
[9:18]stopped breathing when the enemies withdrew what did hussein see qasim was
[9:23]not in one piece the horses had shut in on him and
[9:25]torn him to pieces imagine imagine hussein's feelings his brother hassan's son
[9:31]lying trampled into pieces allahu akbar allahu akbar what shall hussein do
[9:36]now what shall hussein do now qasem torn into pieces his arms
[9:40]and legs scattered on the land of karbala hussain took off his
[9:45]abaya and spread it on the ground he gathered the pieces of
[9:48]qasem's body and placed them on his abaya he then tied the
[9:51]abaya into a bundle abbas helped hussein carry qasem's trampled body when
[9:56]hussein reached the camp he cried out zainab help me zainab my
[10:00]heart is broken zainab i have no strength left to carry qasem's
[10:03]body to the tent zainab asked imam fida to help you take
[10:07]qasem to the tent the ladies cried and did lamentation for qasem
[10:17]muhammad thank you sister hiba for your lovely recitation i'd now welcome

[11:06]educator who has translated translated books books to to english english our
[11:09]guest speaker is a profound public speaker who is dedicated to serving
[11:13]his family who is dedicated to serving in his family's mission and
[11:17]spreading the call of ahul bayt under the united states and now
[11:20]it is with great honor to present you muhammad al qazween after
[11:24]allah muhammad al ali muhammad thank you enlighten your hearts and illuminate
[15:13]your majalis with allah muhammad respected brothers and sisters for the last
[15:30]two nights we spoke about the problem of evil and we said
[15:36]that if there is a kind merciful loving and powerful lord then
[15:42]why is there so much evil and suffering in this world and
[15:46]we said because some people could not understand how a loving god
[15:50]could allow so much suffering to take place in the world then
[15:55]they were led to rejecting the almighty they were led to atheism
[16:00]and that's why we said a reply is necessary and we mentioned
[16:04]a few replies to the problem of evil but at the end
[16:08]of the day my friends if i was still not convinced that
[16:11]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala why he permits evil in this world then
[16:16]in no way does that justify me rejecting him you see me
[16:21]as a human being if i don't understand something if i'm ignorant
[16:26]of something my ignorance should never lead me to reject what i
[16:31]am ignorant of just because i don't understand something doesn't mean i
[16:35]reject it i have to be humble because if i reject that
[16:41]i am ignorant of then not only will i be ignorant i'll
[16:47]be arrogant as well i have to be humble and i have
[16:50]to admit that the problem is with me why am i not
[16:53]understanding this the problem is with me it's because of my limited
[16:57]knowledge i don't have all the information that i need in order
[17:00]to judge and that's why allah says in the holy quran he
[17:05]says he says i have not given you human beings from the
[17:12]knowledge except a small fraction how small allah knows maybe 1% maybe
[17:19]point 001% and that's why you see science with all the advancements
[17:24]and all the information that they have you find still scientists till
[17:29]this day they're ignorant they still haven't discovered so many things so
[17:34]many things that remain a mystery to scientists so many aspects of
[17:37]the universe of the planets of the stars of the galaxies so
[17:41]many aspects of this world that we live in what's in the
[17:44]ocean and the animals and the trees and the ecosystems and the
[17:48]weather many of these things still remain a mystery scientists have yet
[17:52]to discover them we don't have to go far my brothers and
[17:55]sisters the human being himself has still not fully discovered himself many
[18:02]parts of the human being many things about the human being still
[18:05]remain a mystery to scientists for example amongst the things that i
[18:09]was reading about was the need to sleep every human being needs
[18:14]to sleep scientists till this very day have not fully understood why
[18:18]the human being needs to sleep every human being needs to sleep
[18:22]at least seven to eight hours a day correct now if you
[18:25]go and you lay flat on your bed you close you close
[18:29]your eyes and you can even snore but don't fall into sleep
[18:34]after eight hours of laying there will you wake up refreshed will
[18:38]you wake up with energy of course not you're gonna wake up
[18:42]it says if you've been running for five hours your bones are
[18:44]hurting your back is hurting you're so tired you can't do anything
[18:47]even though you were laying flat for eight hours you have to
[18:51]fall into fall to sleep if you don't sleep you won't get
[18:55]that energy why is that it's still a mystery to many scientists
[18:59]and then once we do sleep we see dreams why do we
[19:02]see dreams what's the point of dreams why is it that we
[19:05]see dreams this is a mystery there are theories but still there
[19:08]are many things that they haven't discovered likewise there are for example
[19:12]how the soul is connected to the body many aspects of the
[19:16]soul that the human being possesses still scientists remains a mystery to
[19:20]them there are many diseases that afflict the human being till this
[19:24]very day there is no treatment we haven't discovered the treatment we
[19:27]haven't discovered the cure to it if i have not discovered myself
[19:33]then i expect to understand allah if i do not understand the
[19:38]created i expect to understand the creator we are finite human beings
[19:44]brothers and sisters we're so limited allah is infinite can a finite
[19:51]being understand an infinite being of course not it doesn't make sense
[19:56]this is common sense so just because i cannot understand how allah
[20:00]works doesn't mean that i have to reject it doesn't mean that
[20:03]there is no explanation this is arrogance brothers and sisters when i
[20:07]say because i don't understand this i reject it that's that means
[20:10]i'm arrogant that means i understand more than allah who says you
[20:13]have to understand everything who says you have enough knowledge to understand
[20:17]how allah works and that's why you see many of these atheists
[20:22]you see the reason why they become atheists is because of their
[20:25]their arrogance why did god do this why did god do that
[20:29]why did god take my mother why does god just because you
[20:33]can understand why god did it doesn't mean that there is no
[20:36]explanation as long as you're as convinced that there must be a
[20:39]creator that something cannot come out of nothing as long as you
[20:44]have proof that there must been a creator intelligent design then just
[20:49]because you don't understand how that creator works does not justify rejecting
[20:54]that creator and let me give you a story to further illustrate
[20:56]this point it's narrated that one day prophet musa he asked allah
[21:03]he tells him you allah i want you to show me your
[21:08]justice i want you to show me how you are just the
[21:12]hadith says allah tells prophet musa go and stand by a certain
[21:17]mountain and you will see close by there is a well that
[21:21]has water in it back then they want to drink water they
[21:24]go to the well so go and look and you will see
[21:27]my justice served prophet musa he goes and he stands by that
[21:31]mountain and he begins to look at the well all the sudden
[21:36]he notices a soldier comes riding a horse he comes to the
[21:40]well and he comes off his horse he's wearing a belt he
[21:46]takes off the belt he puts it aside inside the belt there's
[21:50]a bag filled with money golden coins he drinks from the well
[21:56]and then after he finishes he rides the horse he forgets his
[22:00]belt and he leaves musa is watching a few minutes after that
[22:05]or a while after that musa notices a little boy comes a
[22:09]young boy maybe their their house is close by he comes to
[22:13]the well he takes a drink after he drinks from the well
[22:16]the boy looks he sees there's a belt he looks inside the
[22:20]belt he sees there's money he snatches the money and he leaves
[22:25]after that a third man comes an old blind man holding a
[22:29]stick he's an old blind man and his house is close by
[22:33]through with the stick he's able to come to the well he
[22:36]comes and he drinks from the well as this old man is
[22:39]drinking from the well who comes back the horseman he remembers that
[22:44]he forgot his money so he quickly comes back he searches he
[22:48]sees there's no trace of it so what does he do right
[22:52]away he assumes that this old man took it so he accuses
[22:56]him old man where's my money i know you took it because
[22:59]after i left no one came but you the old man says
[23:02]i don't know what you're talking about i'm an old blind man
[23:05]even if there was some money even if there was a belt
[23:07]i can't even see it so a huge quarrel erupts between them
[23:12]the man the old man says i'm innocent the soldier says you
[23:16]took my money the soldier takes out his sword and he kills
[23:19]that old man and leaves allah tells prophet musa this is my
[23:23]justice now to you and me what does this look like justice
[23:28]or injustice injustice correct to you and me who have limited knowledge
[23:35]who do not know the context of the story we don't know
[23:38]all the circumstances of these people we think this is injustice we
[23:42]say if we were there present that day besides the well we
[23:45]would say you allah there is so much evil in this world
[23:48]look there's so much terror and oppression in this world but do
[23:51]you know why we make that objection because of our ignorance that's
[23:54]why i say we have to be humble not be arrogant just
[23:57]because i don't understand something i make accusations so musa you need
[24:03]to explain how is this justice allah tells prophet musa let me
[24:07]explain to you how this is justice he tells him as for
[24:10]the old blind man which you thought he was killed unjustly when
[24:16]he was younger he had unjustly killed the father of the horseman
[24:22]many years ago he had unjustly killed the father of the horsemen
[24:26]now the horsemen avenged his father's murder so there was no injustice
[24:31]in that that was justice the old man killed the father of
[24:35]the horsemen now he now the son retaliated so that's justice okay
[24:40]and as for the young boy when his when the soldier the
[24:46]horseman when he was younger he had taken borrow some money from
[24:50]the father of the little boy and he never gave it back
[24:54]the father of that little boy used to tell him give it
[24:56]back he never gave it back until the father of that young
[24:59]boy died now who is the inheritor of the wealth of that
[25:03]father it's the boy so now the boy owes that horseman a
[25:08]certain amount allah tells him the same amount that he owed that
[25:12]horseman was in that belt i took it from that horseman gave
[25:15]it to young child without the child knowing without the soldier knowing
[25:19]they themselves these three members they don't know even what happened allah
[25:22]placed everything where it belongs without anyone knowing so they say allah
[25:28]works in mysterious ways and that's why allah tells them this is
[25:31]how i serve justice so many times brothers and sisters there are
[25:35]things in which we don't understand don't rush to conclusions don't make
[25:40]accusations left and right i have to be humble and say the
[25:43]problem is with me i am the one that am ignorant i
[25:47]am the one that doesn't have the full information so with that
[25:51]said now that we understand that we'll go to the final point
[25:55]and that is the last argument and the last reply to the
[25:59]problem of evil we mentioned a few replies yesterday and a reply
[26:02]the day before yesterday the final arguments and the final reply to
[26:06]the problem of evil is this and before i mention it i
[26:11]have to clarify a point and that point is everything that allah
[26:16]subhanahu wa ta'ala created in this world is good there is nothing
[26:22]that allah creates which is evil in essence everything that allah creates
[26:26]is good the holy quran says this allah says in the holy
[26:29]quran he says in the holy quran allah everything that he creates
[26:41]is perfect it's good so there is nothing that allah subhanahu wa
[26:45]ta'ala that creates which is bad everything that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[26:49]creates which is good you may ask wait a minute what about
[26:52]the devil shaytan iblees isn't he evil didn't allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[26:58]create him even iblees brothers and sisters even the shaytan the devil
[27:03]is good allah subhanahu wa ta'ala created the devil the existence of
[27:09]the devil wasn't evil allah subhanahu wa ta'ala by creating him he
[27:13]created him in a good fashion so you may ask then where
[27:16]did evil come from if allah created everything and everything everything that
[27:20]he created is good then why do we have evil in this
[27:23]world remember i mentioned two nights ago that because some people could
[27:27]not answer this question what did they believe in two gods wait
[27:31]a minute god is good and he created the good things so
[27:34]there must have been a second god the god of evil and
[27:37]he created everything that's evil but we know this is wrong there's
[27:40]only one god allah subhanahu wa almighty and he created everything so
[27:46]where did evil come from then evil came after that my dear
[27:50]brothers and sisters evil came from us from us human beings how
[27:54]did evil come about it's when i the human being exercise the
[27:59]free will that allah gave me and i choose the wrong instead
[28:03]of the right the result is called evil allah gave us free
[28:08]will and not only did he just give us free will and
[28:12]he let us wander like that no he gave us intellect intellect
[28:16]and he gave us conscience and that tells me you're on the
[28:20]right path or you're on the wrong path and allah said 124,000
[28:25]messengers all of them telling us to what to do what's right
[28:30]to do what's good when the human being fails in choosing what's
[28:34]right when he abuses this free will and he goes away from
[28:38]the commandments of allah this is where you get evil so evil
[28:43]is the result of going away from allah or else if everyone
[28:47]follows the directions of allah there would be absolutely no evil in
[28:51]this world correct if everyone one day decided to follow the quran
[28:57]the teachings of ahlul bayt would there be any evil in this
[28:59]world so why is it that we blame allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[29:03]for the evil why is it that when i see suffering i
[29:06]see evil i see killings i see torture i blame allah subhanahu
[29:10]wa ta'ala allah is the one that's telling me don't do this
[29:13]allah tell him this is evil he gave me the aql the
[29:17]conscience and he sent so many messengers and imams just to tell
[29:20]me do what's right do what's good so evil comes from us
[29:25]or else allah everything that he creates is good and in order
[29:29]to further explain this point let's look at the different evils that
[29:33]exist in this world there are many evils that exist in this
[29:36]world number one the first form of evil that we call and
[29:41]label as evil is tyranny oppression and killings you see today there's
[29:47]so much tyranny in the world the world is filled with oppression
[29:50]and and and and innocent people that are being killed just look
[29:54]at what's what's happening in syria today everyday thousands or hundreds of
[29:58]people are being killed look at what what's happening in yemen look
[30:02]at what look at what's happening in iraq for the past ten
[30:05]years everyday hundreds of people are killed because of those bombings and
[30:09]so many other parts of the world innocent people that are dying
[30:12]all these killings and battles is allah responsible for all of that
[30:17]or we human beings you see the mass refugee of the of
[30:23]the syrian people these poor people that have to abandon their homes
[30:28]because he's afraid while he's sleeping there's a rocket that will target
[30:31]his house and and and annihilate him he has to abandon his
[30:34]hometown and he has to go and seek anywhere that they'll accept
[30:38]him that they'll let him live in peace and not only is
[30:43]he running away from death but sometimes they run away from death
[30:46]and they find death at their destination how many of them you
[30:49]see they drowned or they died remember just a few months ago
[30:53]i read in the news that in austria they found a truck
[30:57]a huge truck filled with syrian refugees it was parked besides of
[31:01]the road they go they open the door of that truck they
[31:04]see there's 76 bodies dead bodies of syrian refugees because the smuggler
[31:09]left them to suffocate in that truck we blame that on allah
[31:15]this is us the wicked human being because of the power hunger
[31:18]because he wants to conquer he wants to rule he's not willing
[31:22]to what he's not willing to leave power and he and and
[31:27]even if it's at the cost of millions of people this is
[31:30]we have the result of this allah is to blame this is
[31:34]the human being it's our fault brothers and sisters so all this
[31:37]tyranny and oppression killings has nothing to do with allah allah says
[31:41]in the holy quran if you kill one innocent soul it's like
[31:44]you've killed humanity and then we blame allah you find here in
[31:48]the united states brothers and sisters i mentioned two nights ago from
[31:51]time to time there are shootings a guy goes out he kills
[31:54]innocent people random and from time to time i mentioned that in
[31:58]the media they begin to what point fingers at allah i remember
[32:01]once there was a shooting and i saw on cnn one guy
[32:04]he's talking says where is god in the equation how does god
[32:07]allow this and he begins to attack allah in the united states
[32:11]if you read statistics every single year more than thirty thousand people
[32:17]die because of gun violence every single year that's about eighty five
[32:21]people a day every single day eighty five people die in the
[32:26]us because of gun violence instead of blaming gets on ourselves instead
[32:32]of blaming gets on ourselves that we cannot control these guns we
[32:35]cannot put a ban on these guns we blame allah allah gave
[32:39]me aql he gave me intellect he says when something is causing
[32:42]corruption in your society get rid of it why do people have
[32:46]to own guns get rid of those guns you save 30,000 lives
[32:50]every year but no the second amendment i have fine you want
[32:53]to have guns blame the second amendment blame your constitution why do
[32:56]you blame allah allah said we're forced to own guns every day
[33:00]85 people how many people have to die until we understand these
[33:03]guns are nothing but evil but then we go and we blame
[33:07]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala another statistic statistics tell us that every two
[33:13]minutes in the us three people die because of drunk driving alcohol
[33:19]related accidents every two minutes how many people die three people we
[33:26]blame that on we blame that on allah subhanahu wa ta'ala how
[33:28]many times in the quran allah says stay away from alcohol allah
[33:32]says alcohol is nothing but filth i i mentioned that the verse
[33:37]in the quran a few nights ago i'll mention it again allah
[33:40]says in the holy quran he used to come to rasulullah ask
[33:46]him about drinking alcohol and masir gambling allah tells rasulullah tell the
[33:52]people tell the people that alcohol and gambling there is great harm
[34:06]in them and it's a sin allah calls it ithim drinking alcohol
[34:09]and gambling allah in the quran calls it a sin ithim and
[34:13]there's lots of harm in them but at the same time the
[34:15]quran says but good may also come of them you see when
[34:19]i gamble i can make money that's a profit i could sell
[34:22]alcohol make money i could drink and and you know it's it's
[34:25]exciting and it feels good to get drunk but allah then says
[34:28]right after that even though there may be good in drinking and
[34:34]playing but the evil and the harm of drinking and gambling is
[34:38]much more than the good and that's why in the other verse
[34:42]allah says allah says that drinking alcohol it's rich it's filth impurity
[35:00]stay away from it allah is saying it for fourteen hundred years
[35:03]in the quran stay away from alcohol we want to follow our
[35:07]desires and what's the price that we have to pay every two
[35:10]minutes three people die and then we blame allah you see how
[35:15]rude how impudent the human being can become allah tells him do
[35:19]this don't go that way go this way this is the way
[35:23]in which you'll be satisfied you'll live a happy life we disobey
[35:27]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala we go another way we do what we
[35:30]want and then once we fall in the trap we blame god
[35:34]why is there so much evil and suffering it's your fault listen
[35:37]to allah there won't be so much suffering and evil in this
[35:40]world this is number one this is all the killings and deaths
[35:43]in this world number two another form of evil in this world
[35:45]is what another form of evil in this world is diseases so
[35:50]many people have we we call diseases as evil many of the
[35:53]diseases brothers and sisters are our fault for example statistics tell us
[35:58]that every single year in the us more than one hundred and
[36:03]fifty thousand people die because of what because of lung cancer you
[36:08]can google it more than one hundred and fifty thousand people die
[36:12]every single year because of lung cancer and ninety percent of those
[36:17]deaths are because of what because of smoking so almost maybe one
[36:23]hundred thirty five thousand people die every single year because of smoking
[36:29]and then we come and we blame it on allah allah tells
[36:31]gives me aql something that's causing you harm stay away from it
[36:35]it's as easy as that don't smoke but yeah we go we
[36:38]smoke and then once we have the cancer we ask you allah
[36:41]why is there evil in this world why is there disease it's
[36:44]your fault you are the one that's going and smoking this this
[36:47]toxic chemical and that's why i find most of our brothers and
[36:51]sisters they say that if smoking is bad for your health and
[36:56]if it leads to diseases then smoking becomes haram and if you
[37:01]ask any doctor if you ask any doctor any physician they will
[37:05]tell you that smoking is one of the most harmful things that
[37:08]the human can do allah is clearly telling us but we want
[37:12]to choose our own ways this is the first number two every
[37:16]single year more than four hundred and thousand more than four hundred
[37:22]thousand people die in the us because of what because of obesity
[37:26]diseases and illnesses that are related to obesity and i remember i
[37:30]read once that unfortunately detroit was one of the fattest cities in
[37:33]america i think it was the second most obese city in america
[37:37]unfortunately our city so every year more than four hundred and four
[37:44]hundred thousand people die in the us because of obesity who's to
[37:48]blame allah you know that's so funny i'm i'm fat i say
[37:52]it's allah it's because i can't stop eating because of all the
[37:55]junk food and the processed foods and the fast food and the
[37:58]unhealthy foods that we eat and then you have high cholesterol high
[38:01]blood pressure and then you get diabetes and so many diseases and
[38:05]you have four hundred four hundred thousand people dying every single year
[38:09]allah gives us a aql something that's bad for you stay away
[38:14]from it and that's why in islam it's highly recommended to be
[38:17]fit it's highly recommended to be fit eat good foods eat healthy
[38:21]foods and workout it's recommended to workout not only islam doesn't only
[38:26]worry and care about the soul just no it's good to also
[38:31]be fit physically and that's why going to the gym and working
[38:34]out with something very good in islam allah lays out the rules
[38:39]you want to live a good life but we choose our ways
[38:41]and then we blame allah so this is number two the second
[38:46]type of evil remember we said number one the first form of
[38:48]evil is all the killings most of it is our fault number
[38:51]two the diseases most of it is our fault maybe some of
[38:53]it is trial from allah but a lot of it is our
[38:56]fault number three a third type of evil something that we called
[39:00]evil is what poverty there is so much poverty in this world
[39:04]today you find that in certain parts of the world people don't
[39:09]have food to eat people suffer from famine there isn't clean water
[39:14]you see in africa for example most people in africa they don't
[39:19]excuse me they don't have access to clean water do you know
[39:21]that do you see this bottle of water that we takes for
[39:25]granted here in america in many countries this is very rare in
[39:29]africa an average an average person in africa never sees a bottle
[39:33]of water in his life and that's why i've heard that a
[39:37]young child living in africa do you know what his dream is
[39:41]if i were were to see some young brothers and sisters here
[39:44]in the audience and i were to ask them what's your dream
[39:47]when you grow up some of them will say i wanna become
[39:50]a doctor i wanna become a lawyer i wanna become the president
[39:53]i wanna become a senator i want it in africa many of
[39:57]the kids their dream is to grow up and while they're adults
[40:01]they wanna have a bottle of water every day that's their only
[40:05]dream a bottle of water see how we take it for granted
[40:08]it's worthless in our eyes bottle of water what's the worth of
[40:11]it and you find there's so much famine so many people that
[40:15]are dying out of hunger why is this happening brothers and sisters
[40:19]why why are innocent children dying because of starvation they once asked
[40:24]the philosopher why is there so many children that are dying because
[40:29]of hunger and he gave such a beautiful answer you know what
[40:31]he said he gave them such a beautiful answer he said the
[40:36]reason why there's so many children dying out of starvation is my
[40:39]hair my hair what do you mean my hair why are children
[40:45]dying out of starvation he said my hair and they say this
[40:48]philosopher he had hair on the sides lots of hair on the
[40:52]sides and no hair in the middle he was bald in the
[40:54]middle and he said my hair what does he mean my hair
[40:59]he said if you look at my hair there's good production but
[41:03]what bad distribution there's lots of hair on the sides but it's
[41:08]not distributed evenly only if some of the hair instead of growing
[41:12]on the sides it would grow in the middle would have been
[41:14]i would i would have looked so much better so he says
[41:17]the same problem we have poverty you think allah didn't create enough
[41:21]food for humanity read statistics they say that today in this world
[41:27]there is enough food and resources not for everyone but for four
[41:31]times more than the population so 7,000,000,000 people today times that by
[41:35]four almost 30,000,000,000 there is enough food for 30,000,000,000 people yet thousands
[41:41]of people have to die out of hunger is that allah's fault
[41:44]allah placed this food allah placed these resources in the dunya it's
[41:48]the human beings greed it's because he wants there are people that
[41:52]have billions of dollars or people that month passes by they don't
[41:56]earn more than $10 allah is to blame here they say that
[42:02]during the jahiliyah there was a poet he was walking in the
[42:06]street one day and he said want to just see what's going
[42:10]on in the streets and then i'll write a poem so he
[42:13]says i was walking and all of a sudden i hear someone
[42:15]that's yelling ouch ouch so i get closer to that guy i
[42:21]see that he has his hands on his stomach so i tell
[42:25]him what's wrong he says i am so hungry i have no
[42:30]food and that's why i'm crying so he continues he says a
[42:36]few minutes after that i hear a second man saying ouch ouch
[42:40]i tell him what's wrong with you he says i ate so
[42:43]much food that my stomach is hurting me that poet he writes
[42:46]a very beautiful poem in arabic and he explains how only if
[42:51]the second one he would have given half of his food to
[42:54]the first one then both of them would have been happy the
[42:58]second one would have ate in too much and the first one
[43:01]would have had enough food so it's the unequal distribution of the
[43:05]wealth is what causes this and if you read the statistics about
[43:08]this brothers and sisters it's so disturbing statistics state that the top
[43:13]1% the top 1% the wealthy they own how much of the
[43:19]world's wealth more than 40% 1% owns more than 40% and the
[43:25]lowest two thirds of the population the poorest two thirds how much
[43:29]do they own they should own two thirds right how much do
[43:31]they own 3% one third owns 97% and two thirds they own
[43:39]3% and then we blame allah subhanahu wa ta'ala we make millions
[43:44]and we save millions more we say why is there poverty in
[43:47]this world look at these poor children that are suffering it's so
[43:50]easy brothers and sisters to make accusations do you know why these
[43:55]people are blaming allah because they want to find a scapegoat because
[43:58]the other option is to blame myself they don't want to blame
[44:01]themselves they don't want to blame their societies instead they blame allah
[44:05]subhanahu wa ta'ala it's very easy to blame allah allah is tolerant
[44:08]if i curse allah he's not going to retaliate now if i
[44:11]lie and ascribe false lies to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he's not
[44:16]going to retaliate he's tolerant and that's why they want to find
[44:19]a scapegoat everything allah allah allah so this is number three the
[44:23]third type of evil and the fourth type of evil that we
[44:27]see in this world today is the immorality you see so much
[44:31]immorality in this world lying cheating deceit greed i remember a couple
[44:36]of months ago here in this city in detroit it was all
[44:39]over the news they said that there was a doctor for years
[44:43]what what would he do i'm sure many of you heard about
[44:46]it for years he was a doctor that would treat cancer victims
[44:50]or cancer patients for years people would come to his office and
[44:56]he would diagnose them with cancer even though they were perfectly fine
[44:59]why just to feed his ego just to feed his greed he
[45:03]can make money so he can charge the insurance so they have
[45:05]to take tests chemotherapy they have to take medication and he can
[45:09]make money i remember i read an article that said he it's
[45:11]estimated that throughout the years made more than $17,000,000 because of that
[45:16]and he ruined the lives of so many people and unfortunately he
[45:19]was an arab i don't know if he was a muslim even
[45:21]if he was a muslim only by name a true muslim never
[45:25]does that just in order to feed my desires my greed i
[45:29]ruined the lives of so many people so the immorality that exists
[45:33]in this world once again we are to blame and here i'll
[45:36]read you i'll read you a beautiful hadith about that of how
[45:40]immorality brothers and sisters destroy society and how so many problems we
[45:46]see in society is because of our immorality it's because we fail
[45:50]in following the moral rules let and placed by allah the hadith
[45:55]of imam al baqar says he says rasulullah has said this or
[46:06]there was a book of rasulullah and the hadith of rasulullah mentioned
[46:10]in it what does rasulullah say if fornication and adultery increases after
[46:20]me the prophet says then what will happen what's the result people
[46:26]all of a sudden you see he falls and dies heart attack
[46:29]the doctor sees there's nothing wrong with him he was perfectly healthy
[46:32]but yet he falls and dies because of the immorality we find
[46:37]that this is the punishment and then the imam the holy prophet
[46:40]says and when human beings they do not give their financial dues
[46:53]they do not pay their zakat what will allah afflict us with
[46:57]what's the obvious result what's the ramification of that the prophet says
[47:02]that there will be famine there'll be a drought you'll find there's
[47:05]a scarce in food poverty who's to blame us because we're not
[47:10]paying our dues to allah and then the imam the prophet says
[47:19]if we break our relationships with our family members i have a
[47:23]brother i have a sister i don't speak with them for whatever
[47:26]reason who cares there is absolutely no excuse for me breaking my
[47:31]ties with my family members even if they were wrong listen carefully
[47:35]brothers and sisters even if he started it even if she was
[47:38]wrong allah will hold me responsible the hadith says that if i
[47:42]break my relationship with my family members with my brothers with my
[47:45]cousins my uncles my nieces my parents the hadith says allah will
[47:51]shave up to thirty years out of my life amongst the things
[47:55]that shortens the life of the human being is if i break
[48:00]my ties with my family members no matter what the excuse i
[48:04]have to always be better than that other person even if he
[48:06]started it i have to be humble i have to try to
[48:10]continue my relationships but the prophet says but if we do if
[48:14]we do break our ties with our with our family members what's
[48:18]the social ramification of that he says the money will be in
[48:25]the hands of the evil ones just like today you think the
[48:27]rich the billionaire you think they're good people you think they care
[48:30]about the poor people so this is a natural effect of what
[48:35]of breaking our relationships with our family members and then the hadith
[48:39]says the prophet says that if people do not enjoin the good
[48:59]and forbid the evil and remember i mentioned this many times the
[49:01]whole message of imam hussain of imam hussain on the day of
[49:05]ashura is what the message of imam hussain is what enjoying the
[49:08]good and forbid the evil don't stay silent when you see something
[49:12]as evil if people stay silent they do not follow ahlul bayt
[49:17]whoever rules it doesn't matter their indifference about it the holy prophet
[49:21]says the ramification the result of that will be who the evil
[49:24]ones will go to power we're silent we don't care we don't
[49:27]support the right ones we don't support the good ones we'll let
[49:30]our institutions be in the hands of the evil ones when you
[49:34]see there is dunam in your society you cannot say i don't
[49:36]care you're not a muslim imam hussein died for this cause i
[49:40]see in one country there is an evil oppressor in one islamic
[49:44]institution it's held in in in in the hands of thugs i
[49:47]can't stay silent i'm not a muslim i have to because when
[49:51]i stay silent it's those thugs that what that they think i've
[49:55]given them a green light if i stand up and say i'll
[49:58]not let you do that they won't be able so the prophet
[50:00]says if your leaders are corrupt it's your fault because you never
[50:03]enjoying the good and forbid the evil from the first day and
[50:07]that's why the holy quran speaks about this the holy quran says
[50:13]allah says that if any evil happens to you then it's your
[50:21]fault don't blame allah allah wants what's good for me if i
[50:29]see any problems any tragedies blame you blame humanity blame human beings
[50:34](qs one) but then allah says after that he and then he
[50:43]but yet allah in many times he what he forgives many times
[50:49]we do haram many times we go against allah and his will
[50:54]but yet allah forgives allah does not punish me we see how
[51:00]beautifully the twelfth imam he speaks in dua'al iftita so beautiful the
[51:06]imam says instead of the imam say instead of concentrating on the
[51:35]what's bad look at what's good look at what allah has done
[51:39]don't say why does allah intervene here and there look at the
[51:42]times where allah did intervene look at how many cases allah protected
[51:46]you from harm look at how many cases i sin and sin
[51:49]and sin allah just gives me and gives me and gives me
[51:53]allah makes so many exceptions there's so much transgression so much oppression
[52:01]we go against his will so much but he makes so many
[52:04]excuses so many exceptions and he does not always hold us accountable
[52:09]so the imam says concentrate on those times where allah did intervene
[52:13]allah did save my life allah did give me the better even
[52:16]though i did not deserve it and that's why when we come
[52:21]to the free will that allah gave us it's when we abuse
[52:25]it we get evil so does this mean that free will is
[52:29]bad because some people will say then why did allah give us
[52:31]free will if so much evil comes from free will free will
[52:36]my dear brothers and sisters is not bad it's the greatest gift
[52:40]that allah has given us human beings the greatest and most precious
[52:44]gift of allah has what free will that he gave me the
[52:48]honor to choose imagine if allah would have created me as a
[52:51]robot i can only choose one thing would this be a good
[52:54]life there's no value in that life it's because allah wanted to
[52:59]honor me it's because allah deemed me worthy that he gave me
[53:03]the power and the chance to choose but however allah also gave
[53:08]me a aql he told me that i gave you free will
[53:11]but i'm also giving you aql always choose what's right if i
[53:15]choose what's wrong that's my fault and that's why you see the
[53:18]hadith the beautiful hadith of imam ali ibn abi talib in the
[53:23]hadith the imam says allah created angels and he placed an angel's
[53:36]intellect but no desires that's why angels never commit sins because they
[53:40]have no desires and then the imam says and then allah created
[53:47]animals animals have no intellect only desire and then the imam says
[53:55]but then the human being allah put both in him he gave
[53:59]him and he gave him shahwah he gave him desires but then
[54:03]the imam says if my intellect overwhelms my desires i follow my
[54:13]intellect i become better than the what than the angels and that's
[54:17]why you see allah when he created the human being the angels
[54:21]they objected in the verse i said aloha they could not understand
[54:29]the fact that this human being has free will and if someone
[54:33]worships allah based on free will this is priceless when i worship
[54:37]allah based on free will this is priceless that when a person
[54:41]follows his aqad he'll become better than the malaika they could not
[54:44]understand this because they had no desire only aqad they can only
[54:48]obey and that's why allah ask the angels to prostrate to adam
[54:53]because adam follows his intellect and he becomes better than the but
[54:58]then the hadith says (qs if someone his desires unfortunately control him
[55:08]and there is no aqam just like an animal he lives he
[55:10]just wants to satisfy his desires this person becomes worse than an
[55:14]animal because an animal if it chases after his desires it knows
[55:19]nothing better but i the human being i should know better i
[55:22]have i have intellect the animal does not have it and that's
[55:27]why you see ahlul bayt they reached those highest stages they were
[55:32]better than the angels because they understood this fact that i have
[55:39]free will and i choose to worship allah and this is the
[55:42]highest level that a human being can win that when he worships
[55:46]allah out of his own free will just because he loves allah
[55:52]and thus you see imam ali let the entire world go against
[55:58]him he didn't care because he had allah he says in the
[56:00]beautiful hadith it gives me so much pride he says that i
[56:09]am your servant you allah and then he says and it gives
[56:17]me so much honor i'm so honored that you're my lord because
[56:21]they understood how important how great allah is and you see imam
[56:25]al hussein on the day of ashura he followed in the same
[56:30]footsteps of his father imam alaihi he sees 30,000 enemies imam hussein
[56:36]sees 30,000 enemies in front of him does he care he doesn't
[56:41]see all those enemies all he sees is one thing he sees
[56:44]satisfaction of allah when i reach that level that nothing matters besides
[56:49]allah death i'm not afraid of i'm not afraid of suffering i'm
[56:54]not afraid of the only thing i care about is to please
[56:57]the almighty allah and you find that it was the night of
[57:05]ashura it was the night of ashura it was the last night
[57:12]that these men these honorable dignified men they were present in karbala
[57:18]to protect the woman and protect the children abu fadhil abbas the
[57:25]son of emir al mu'mineen he was excuse me he was guarding
[57:31]the tents outside and while he was guarding the tents his sister
[57:38]zainab she comes out and as soon as she comes out of
[57:42]the tent in the middle of the night they should she should
[57:44]be sleeping abu fadhil abbas he thinks this is one of the
[57:47]enemies there should be no one awake at this time so he
[57:50]quickly turns towards her direction he wants to take out her sword
[57:54]his sword he sees it's his sister zaynab so he tells her
[57:58]my dear sister zaynab why are you awake during this time of
[58:01]the night you should be sleeping how could zaynab sleep during that
[58:04]night she knows this is the last night that she's surrounded with
[58:08]hussein with abbas with ali al akbar with qasim how can she
[58:13]sleep knowing tomorrow she'll be all alone between the enemies with orphans
[58:17]and widows so she comes to him and the narration says that
[58:22]my dear brother abbas i need to tell you something i just
[58:25]need to get this off my chest what is it my dear
[58:27]sister zaynab tell me anything and then she begins to tell him
[58:31]the story of how abul fadlil abbas was born she tells him
[58:35]my dear younger brother abbas after our mother fatima died my father
[58:42]imam ali he went to his brother he went to his brother
[58:45]aqeel and he told him that i want you to find a
[58:50]wife for me and i want her to be from a courageous
[58:53]and brave family and aqeel he knew almul ansab he knew all
[58:58]the families and all the lineages so he knew he was the
[59:01]one to find his wife so aqeel tells him why why do
[59:05]you want such a wife from a very courageous and brave family
[59:09]he tells him because i want her to give me a very
[59:12]strong and brave child a child that fights with valor that fights
[59:16]with courage why because i want him to protect my son hussein
[59:21]in karbala allahu akbar forty years before karbala imam amir al mumineen
[59:27]is planning for imam hussein he's thinking about imam al hussein and
[59:31]how to protect him so and then zainab tells al abbas this
[59:35]is where aqeel he goes and he finds al baneel and then
[59:38]you're born so then she's she tells him my dear brother abbas
[59:42]tomorrow on the day of ashura do not abandon your brother hussein
[59:46]the only reason you came to this world to this dunya was
[59:48]to protect hussein please tomorrow do not let any harm afflict your
[59:53]brother hussein as long as you're alive protect hussein till the last
[59:57]breath the hadith says that abu fadlil abbas he put his his
[60:02]feet on the stirrup of the horse and he took out his
[60:05]sword and he started he started to tell zaynab he tells her
[60:13]my dear sister zaynab you don't need to encourage me i am
[60:15]the son of ali ibn abi talib and then he tells her
[60:19]wallahi and amannaki aina he tells her wallahi tomorrow i will make
[60:23]you proud i will never abandon hussein till the last second my
[60:28]life is for hussein the day of ashura comes all of the
[60:33]companions have been killed all of the relatives have been killed none
[60:37]of them remain but abu fadlil abbas and imam hussein abu fadlil
[60:41]abbas he comes to his brother he tells him my dear brother
[60:44]hussein please give me permission to go and fight these enemies i
[60:48]can no longer bear the wickedness the evilness of these enemies one
[60:52]after the other they killed our men please let me go and
[60:54]kill a few of them i can no longer bear hear the
[60:57]cries of the children please let me go fight them imam hussein
[61:03]tells him my dear brother abbas i cannot let you go you're
[61:09]the one that holds my standard if you go who do i
[61:12]have after you abbas but then imam hussein he tells him but
[61:18]if you must go my dear brother then go and bring water
[61:21]for the children don't fight i'm afraid for you go and bring
[61:25]some water abu fad al abbas rejoices he leaves a sword and
[61:29]he takes the bucket of water and he heads towards the euphrates
[61:33]the hadith says 4,000 men were guarding the euphrates but this is
[61:37]the son of ali ibn abi talib you see abu fadl his
[61:40]name is what they call him amar bani hashim he is the
[61:44]moon of bani hashim and as you all know the moon they
[61:47]say has no light of its own it takes the light of
[61:51]the sun and it reflects it back abul fadlil abbas he was
[61:55]called qamar bani hashem because he would take the light of imam
[61:58]ali and he would reflect it he would take the light and
[62:01]glory of imam hussein and he would reflect it back so this
[62:04]is the son of imam ali he's a lion 4,000 men guard
[62:08]the euphrates he he moves them so easily he arrives at the
[62:12]euphrates he comes down from his horse imagine the condition of al
[62:17]abbas for three days he has not drank any water he's dying
[62:21]of thirst he puts his hand in the water instead of seeing
[62:25]his reflection in the water he sees sukaina he sees imam hussein
[62:29]he sees the parched lips of abba abdullah he takes the water
[62:33]he wants to drink but then he remembers hussein my brother hussein
[62:37]is still thirsty how can i drink water look at the loyalty
[62:41]of al abbas see the altruism that he teaches us and that's
[62:45]why we read in the ziyara of al abbas al akhul mawasil
[62:48]aqee the loyal brother of imam hussein he takes the water he
[62:53]wants to drink it drinks it he remembers his brother hussein so
[62:56]then he puts the water back and then the narrator say we
[63:01]began hearing abul fadhul abbas reciting these words he begins to speak
[63:30]to himself he tells himself abbas how can you drink water when
[63:34]hussein is thirsty how can you drink water when my brother the
[63:38]imam hussein is thirsting never will lie i won't drink water he
[63:43]takes the bucket he fills it with water and he mounts his
[63:46]horse and he goes towards the direction of imam hussein and the
[63:50]children all he can hear in his mind all he can think
[63:54]about is the thirst of hussein and sukainah now it was only
[63:59]two three minutes to the tent but these two three minutes make
[64:02]such a big difference all the sudden while he's carrying the bucket
[64:06]of water one of the enemies he comes and he ambushes him
[64:09]from behind and then he strikes the right hand of al abbas
[64:13]and he suffers it abu al fadhil abbas he carries the bucket
[64:18]of water with his left hand and he begins to say wallah
[64:36]he says wallahi if you if you cut my right hand i
[64:39]don't care about my right hand i sacrificed my right hand for
[64:43]imam hussein he didn't care about his hand he just cared about
[64:47]hussein in the water the imam continues further the imam carries the
[64:52]bucket with his left hand and then one of the enemies comes
[64:55]and he strikes the left hand of al abbas abu fandel abbas
[65:01]now carrying the bucket with his teeth all he cared about was
[65:05]the water all he cared about was to quench the thirst of
[65:08]sukainah and the itam and the orphans of abba abdullah while he's
[65:13]going to the tent there's not too much left one of the
[65:16]enemy strikes an arrow and it hits the bucket the bucket of
[65:20]water spills abu fadhil abbas the hadith says he he stands he
[65:27]he stood and he was so confused what should i do do
[65:30]i go back to hussein but i have no water do i
[65:33]go back to the enemies i have no hands what do i
[65:36]do and then the arrows they began to rain they began to
[65:41]pour on abu al fadhil abbas like rain and then one of
[65:46]the enemies he took a huge metal rod and he struck al
[65:50]abbas on the head abu fadlil abbas fell on the ground and
[65:55]he called farewell you hussain i'm down they killed me the hadith
[66:09]says imam al hussain he came like a charging lion once imam
[66:14]al hussain arrived at the sights of al abbas he saw that
[66:19]al abbas hands are severed he saw there is an arrow in
[66:24]his eye there is an arrow in his forehead there are arrows
[66:27]on his chest he sat down by al abbas he took the
[66:32]head of al abbas he placed it in his lab al abbas
[66:36]didn't know who this was because he could not see one eye
[66:39]arrow another filled with blood he told him please enemy do not
[66:43]kill me just give me a few minutes so that i see
[66:45]hussein before i die that's all i want to see before i
[66:48]die imam hussein tells him my dear brother it is me hussein
[66:56]abu al abbas tells him my dear brother hussein forgive me that
[67:03]i had to die so soon forgive me that i had to
[67:06]leave you between the enemies all along and then al abbas he
[67:12]makes two requests and wallahi they're so heartbreaking he says my dear
[67:16]brother hussein i have two requests from you what are your two
[67:19]requests here abbas he tells him number one now you have my
[67:23]head in your lap please don't put my head in your lap
[67:26]why my brother don't you want me to put your head in
[67:30]my lap before you die he tells him because in a few
[67:32]minutes you will be all alone between the enemies and you will
[67:36]have no one to place your head in his lap so please
[67:39]don't place my head in your lap allah wa kibbutt all he
[67:42]cares about is hussein even in those final seconds this is his
[67:46]first request what's your second request my dear brother abbas he tells
[67:50]him my dear brother hussein my second request is after i die
[67:55]please do not take my my body back to the tent imam
[67:59]hussein used to take the bodies of all the shuhada back to
[68:02]the tent and abbas tells him me no don't take my body
[68:05]back to the tent he tells him why why should i leave
[68:08]you here by the euphrates he tells him because i promised sukaina
[68:12]i will bring her water and i'm embarrassed that sukaina sees abbas
[68:17]comes back and there is no water with him look at the
[68:21]love of al abbas devotion he has for abba abdullah and then
[68:25]abu fadhil abayah departs this world imam hussein he gets up from
[68:35]the body of a lampaz and they say he put his hand
[68:39]on his back and then he said he says now my back
[68:52]has been broken now my enemy has prevailed now i have lost
[68:57]the battle because allah abbas was my strongest supporter imam hussein then
[69:03]went back to the tent sukaina she came out this little girl
[69:08]she tells him my dear father did abbas did my uncle abbas
[69:12]come back and he brought water for me he tells her my
[69:16]dear daughter sukainah the hands of allah has been suffered there is
[69:22]an arrow in his eye and there is one in his joy
[69:26]yeah yes brothers and sisters let us raise this hand let us
[69:50]raise our hands and supplicate to allah with the blessings of the
