[19:57]Inshallah for tonight's majus we are honored to have the opportunity to
[20:01]listen to sheh Mujai Ali Sharif his topic for tonight is Shia
[20:07]reverence to Imam Hussein Alisam and the moral clarity behind his open
[20:12]defiance kindly join me and welcome him to the member with the
[20:15]recitation of three loud salawat Allah Muhammad Ali Muhammad Muhammaduahu.
[20:34][Music] Muhammad.
[21:34]Alhamdulillah.
[21:41]Fore!
[21:47]Foreign!
[21:49]Foreign!
[21:51][Music] [Music] Must be [Music] Oh, [Music] inch.
[23:05][Music] praise your sideawat.
[23:13][Music] My brothers and sisters, Abdah Hussein.
[23:29]Foremost I would like to express my sincere shuker and gratitude to
[23:38]Allah subhanahu waala for once again granting me with this excellent opportunity
[23:47]of reciting malis marking yad z and leading us towards the min
[23:56]to be on this member There is no doubt that it is
[24:02]an honor by itself.
[24:04]And sometimes I wonder whether I am deservant of this honor.
[24:12]As one of the poets says, This assembly, this gathering belongs to
[24:30]him who is the king of the worlds.
[24:36]And besides the holy kaba, can there be any other gathering like
[24:40]this one in which we have gathered that can surpass in its
[24:45]excellence and sanctity?
[24:47]Why the five holy personalities the come here with majesty the reciter
[25:08]also by God has attained wondrous rank.
[25:14]So this is what and then he says is this the throne
[25:23]of or the pulpit of Allahbar Hussein?
[25:28]Is this a majing an assembly or the darbar or the court
[25:35]of Hussein?
[25:40]I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Wessex Jamaat
[25:47]for considering me worthy of this service and I pray to Allah
[25:52]subhanahu wa ta'ala that he should accept our aadari and whatever contributions
[25:57]we have made in these two months to keep these rituals of
[26:01]Abdullah Hussein alive and reward us in abundance in dunya and aaram
[26:09]m In today's medalist, we would like to discuss two questions that
[26:16]are normally put to us.
[26:19]Whenever the months of muharam and suffer approach, we will find that
[26:25]there are many questions that are asked.
[26:28]They are asked by non-Muslims.
[26:30]They are asked by Muslims and they are also asked by some
[26:34]of those who claim to be the Shia of Aal B and
[26:40]you will see that it always happens during these seasons season of
[26:44]Maharam and Safar the two questions which I would like to discuss
[26:51]in today's mudless is one why is it that we the Shia
[26:58]of Aul B give lot law of importance to Imam Al Hussein.
[27:02]And the second question is that why did I im Hussein rose
[27:10]in defiance and in confrontation of Yazid when he could have easily
[27:19]resorted to what is known as takaya.
[27:20]When I was in working in Nairobi in motor industry, uh it
[27:27]belonged the company belonged to a Shia and therefore we find that
[27:33]the staff in that company mostly were the Shia and we had
[27:37]this tradition we had this custom that every day during we would
[27:41]get together and pray the prayers and thereafter we would have lunch.
[27:47]Now amongst us there was one person who was not a Shia
[27:54]he was a Sunni but he was very curious and whenever we
[27:59]would sit he would ask lot of questions regarding the madhab of
[28:03]aul.
[28:04]It was known to him and it was known to my colleagues
[28:09]there that come the month of Muharam and safar I would travel
[28:12]for majalis.
[28:13]So once when the month of Maharam was nearing and I was
[28:17]preparing myself for the trouble just before that when we had that
[28:23]small gathering this Sunni man put a question to me he said
[28:28]and he used to call me mujah he said mujah do you
[28:32]mind me asking you a question and I hope you will not
[28:36]be offended and I said to him why not ask me and
[28:43]he said that why is it that You Shia give lot of
[28:45]importance to Imam Hussein Alisam and not to Rasool Allah just to
[28:52]gauge what was there in his mind.
[28:53]I asked him why do you say that and he went on
[28:58]to explain he said that every year for 40 days you commemorate
[29:01]the martyrdom of Imam Hussein.
[29:03]You don't do that for Allah.
[29:08]And these 40 days there are um the days for mourning and
[29:12]grieving.
[29:12]You put on black clothes and you do not have any joyous
[29:16]occasion during these 40 days.
[29:19]You do not laugh.
[29:19]You do not do any merry making.
[29:21]And above all you Shia tend to give lot of importance to
[29:29]Kbala over Medina.
[29:28]You want to visit Imam Hussein every now and then but you
[29:34]do not want to visit Allah in Medina.
[29:36]So this was the question that was posed to me and whatever
[29:40]we discussed I would like to share with you so that it
[29:45]increases in your understanding as well that why do we give so
[29:49]much importance to Imam Hussein?
[29:49]I said to him that we give importance to this personality because
[29:54]we have been commanded to do so both in the holy Quran
[30:01]as well as in prophetic traditions.
[30:03]In surah alan which is the third chapter of the holy Quran
[30:10]verse number 31 we find that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is instructing
[30:17]his beloved prophet.
[30:15]Oh my prophet tell the people if you claim to love Allah
[30:27]subhanahu wa ta'ala then follow me in whatever I am saying and
[30:34]in whatever I am telling you to do if you do that
[30:39]not only Allah is going to love you but he will also
[30:46]forgive your sins for So we find that in this verse in
[30:53]this ayah Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is instructing us to do what?
[31:00]Now in his taps has mentioned that there are two reasons for
[31:03]the revelation of this particular verse.
[31:05]One is a group of Christians from Najaran had come to Medadina
[31:09]to meet Rasool Allah and during their conversation with him they said
[31:17]oh Muhammad we have great respect for Isabariam that is Jesus and
[31:22]that is why we also have deep love for Allah subhanahu wa
[31:26]ta'ala this verse was revealed for them that if you claim that
[31:29]you love Allah then you have to follow Allah and the other
[31:36]reason which he mar gives for the revelation is that there were
[31:40]a group of people amongst the Muslims who claimed to be Muslims
[31:45]who claimed that they loved Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala but during their
[31:49]lifetime they were not following the aam of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[31:53]the commands of Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala it is happening even amongst us
[31:57]today isn't it we claim to be Muslims we claim to be
[31:59]Shia we claim that we love Allah we love his prophet we
[32:03]love the when it comes to following the commands of Allah subhanahu
[32:07]wa ta'ala we most of us fail in that and we have
[32:14]a beautiful excuse for this you know love is something or being
[32:16]conscious of Allah tawa of Allah is something which is inside the
[32:23]heart nobody can see it isn't it we give that so what
[32:24]if I'm for example a woman says I'm not going to put
[32:28]hijab tawa is something which is in the heart nobody it should
[32:31]project through our actions It should be there.
[32:35]It should be exhibited through our actions that we love Allah.
[32:38]We are wary of him.
[32:42]So there was this group of people who used to claim that
[32:44]they love Allah but they were not following the aam of Allah,
[32:49]the laws of Allah.
[32:50]Hence this verse was re revealed to repreminded them that if you
[32:54]are claiming to love Allah then follow me what I am telling
[32:59]you what I am commanding you that isoolah then only Allah will
[33:02]love you and not only that he will forgive you your sins
[33:08]immediately after this verse Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala then says oh my
[33:13]prophet tell them obey the commands of Allah and the prophet if
[33:23]they turn away then Allah does not love those who are disbelievers
[33:33]meaning what that you claim to believe in Allah you claim to
[33:38]believe in the prophet yet you undermine and underestimate the authority of
[33:44]Allah then you are not true in your love to Allah subhanana
[33:47]wa ta'ala in fact Allah does not love you and considers you
[33:53]as a disbeliever.
[33:52]Inash again Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says whatever the prophet gives you
[34:05]take it and whatever he forbids you refrain from it.
[34:10]Be wary of Allah.
[34:14]Indeed Allah is severe in his punishment.
[34:19]So here we have been commanded in these verses that we should
[34:24]do what?
[34:25]We should obey Allah.
[34:25]If we claim that we love Allah that we should obey his
[34:30]prophet we should obey.
[34:31]Im Hussein is that unique personality.
[34:39]is that unique personality for who Allah did not only verbally express
[34:45]his love but also prayed to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to love
[34:51]him who loves Hussein he prayed and we will find that there
[34:57]are numerous numerous traditions recorded in both sources in Shia as well
[35:03]as Sunni sources and the ria The narrations which I'm going to
[35:10]share with you these are these have been heard by you.
[35:12]You have heard about them time and again and they have also
[35:17]been mentioned in Jamai in Masnut of Ahmed Hal in Bkari in
[35:22]Muslim and other Sunni scholars have mentioned these narrations.
[35:27]For instance, the most famous famous of the narrations of Allah which
[35:33]even the children over here know is that he said Hussein Hussein
[35:41]beautiful hadith.
[35:44]He said Hussein is from me and I am from Hussein and
[35:52]Allah loves him who loves al- Hussein.
[35:54]Now the scholars tell us that this hadith of Allah has got
[35:58]two parts.
[35:59]In the first part he says Hussein Hussein Hussein is from me
[36:03]and I am from Hussein and it is understood by one and
[36:05]all.
[36:06]Everybody knows what Allah means by this the second part in which
[36:13]he says Allah loves him who loves Al Hussein.
[36:18]This part of hadith has got two parts.
[36:22]One is known as the other one is dua.
[36:27]Means it's an information which Allah is giving.
[36:30]If you love Hussein, Allah will love you.
[36:33]And dua is the prayer of Allah to Allah that oh Allah
[36:40]love him who loves Allah Hussein.
[36:42]This is what the scholars are saying.
[36:46]In fact, we will find that Allah prayed the same prayer for
[36:53]Al Hussein which prophet Ibraimisam had prayed for his family.
[36:59]Prophet Ibraimisam brought his family, his wife Haj and his son Ismael
[37:05]to a baron valley which is Makkah today and he left them
[37:11]there.
[37:12]As he was departing from Matka, from that baron wedding, he made
[37:15]a dua, he prayed to Allah.
[37:17]And this is mentioned in the holy Quran.
[37:19]He said, "Oh our Lord, I have left a part of my
[37:31]descendants in the barren valley, in the barren valley by your sacred
[37:40]house." For what?
[37:40]so that they maintain prayers.
[37:45]And then after that, Prophet Ibraim made a dua which I want
[37:49]you to listen and understand carefully.
[37:50]He said, Quran says, prophet Ibraim said, "Oh Allah, make the hearts
[38:02]of part of people fond of them." Fond of whom?
[38:08]His family who he was leaving behind.
[38:10]Exactly the same prayer rasool Allah made for Allah Hussein.
[38:13]Oh Allah make the hearts of people fed for Allah Hussein.
[38:19]So it is not only verbally that Rasool Allah commanded us to
[38:24]love Al Hussein.
[38:24]It is not only that he prayed to Allah that Allah should
[38:28]love him who loves Al Hussein.
[38:30]But if you look at him during his lifetime, he practically demonstrated
[38:35]his love for Allah Hussein through his actions.
[38:39]And once again, I'm going to share you with you the narrations
[38:42]which you know.
[38:45]But these narrations we have heard time and again, but we have
[38:48]never sat and reflected on them.
[38:49]We have never understood them properly.
[38:52]Who is the best of all human beings?
[38:57]Who is the best of all human beings in this world?
[38:59]is we all know he is he is and for him what
[39:10]did Allah say to him oh Muhammad had it not been for
[39:18]you I would not have created the cosmos I would not have
[39:22]created the universe soh whatever we see in this life my brothers
[39:25]and sisters understand that this belong belongs to Allah.
[39:31]Allah created for him.
[39:32]Had it not been for him, all these nats and bounties which
[39:36]we are enjoying, we would not have had it.
[39:40]This is what Allah is saying to him.
[39:45]This personality is at his time leading salat in mazjidi.
[39:47]He is praying.
[39:49]The masjid is packed.
[39:52]His sahabas, his companions are praying behind him.
[39:55]Huh?
[39:56]He's praying.
[39:58]They are all praying behind him.
[40:00]As he goes into the last saga of his prayer, the Sahabas
[40:05]have gone into saga behind him.
[40:10]Hussein Ali who was just a small child enters the masjid.
[40:12]Enters the masjid comes and climbs on the back of Allah.
[40:18]He climbs on the back of Allah.
[40:24]What did Rasool Allah do?
[40:26]Huh?
[40:27]What did he do?
[40:30]He could have very easily and there are ways and means to
[40:35]continue with the salat to get up carefully in such a way
[40:37]that the salat is not broken and the child also does not
[40:42]fall and get hurt.
[40:41]We can do that if we want, isn't it?
[40:44]It's possible.
[40:46]But what did he do?
[40:49]He didn't do that.
[40:48]Rather, he continued.
[40:51]He extended his saga and continued with his vegg.
[40:56]He continued the Sahabas who are behind don't know what's happening.
[41:00]They don't know.
[41:00]He continued reciting their veon until such a time that Hussein himself
[41:06]got down from the back of Allah.
[41:13]Then Allah rose and completed his prayers.
[41:14]The Sahaba came to him and sayool Allah the saga today was
[41:21]unusually long unusually I mean was there a revelation that was coming
[41:25]to you or was there something special happening that we should be
[41:29]aware of it.
[41:31]Now this is mentioned in Masnad of Ahmed Hal the Sunni source
[41:35]and I want you to pay attention to the wordings of Allah.
[41:41]You know what he responded?
[41:43]He said, "My son, my son Hussein had climbed on my back
[41:47]and I did not want to disturb him." Do you understand?
[41:56]I did not want to ya Allah is the grandson important or
[42:02]the salat is important.
[42:03]What is important?
[42:05]Can I do that?
[42:05]Can you do that in your salat?
[42:09]How can the ordinary imam who's leading the salat can do this?
[42:12]No, we are not allowed that.
[42:14]What is important the grandson or the salat?
[42:18]We all know that Allah does not say does not do anything
[42:21]without the command of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[42:29]He does not say anything out of his desire.
[42:33]Whatever he says is a revelation that has been revealed.
[42:38]So we will have to accept that what Allah did for Al
[42:41]Hussein was nothing but a revelation from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[42:50]>> This is the status of al Hussein and this is what
[42:54]rasool Allah is now practically demonstrating.
[42:57]Introducing him to the um introducing him to the nation.
[43:00]Not only that he is seated on the member.
[43:03]The masjid is packed with the Muslims.
[43:07]He is delivering a sermon from the member.
[43:10]Once again this has also been reported in the Sunni sources.
[43:13]He is delivering the sermon and Hussein Ali as a small child
[43:20]enters the masjid.
[43:19]It's packed.
[43:21]As he tries to cut his way through the audience he trips
[43:27]and falls.
[43:27]He trips and falls.
[43:29]Now imagine I'm seated here on the member.
[43:32]You have gathered here.
[43:33]You are listening to my sermon.
[43:34]You are listening to my majest.
[43:36]Isn't it?
[43:38]If my child or say my grandchild small enters and he trips
[43:45]and falls, what will be my reaction?
[43:50]At most at most I will pose probably get people to recite
[43:54]salawat and people from the audience will attend to him immediately.
[43:58]Isn't it?
[44:01]This is this is what has to happen.
[44:06]But what rasool Allah did is beyond comprehension.
[44:08]He was delivering the sermon and when he saw Hussein tripping and
[44:15]falling down, he stopped his sermon.
[44:17]He discontinued what he was talking.
[44:25]He got down from his pulpit, walked in the crowd, picked Hussein
[44:30]and brought him to the member with him and made him sit
[44:36]on his lap.
[44:37]The question is one day there people in the audience huh to
[44:45]attend al hussein and tell yasool Allah please you continue with your
[44:48]sermon you don't worry we will take care huh this is what
[44:53]should happen what happened you know the ama say there are two
[44:56]probabilities that there is a probability that people are of two types
[44:59]in that audience they say one type of Muslims who are present
[45:05]there at the time during the sermon were those who knew Al
[45:08]Hussein is the grandson of Allah.
[45:11]But at the same time they also knew that Hussein was the
[45:16]son of Ali Ab and they in their hearts had hatred and
[45:20]enmity for Ali bin Abu Tib for what he had done to
[45:26]their fathers and forefathers in Bad and so they could have said
[45:33]that's Ali's son who cares it happens even today it happens even
[45:37]today isn't it I mean if you don't like somebody You hate
[45:42]somebody even in the amongst the you don't only hate him you
[45:48]hate his entire family does it happen or not this is the
[45:53]mentality of so this is probably a group of people who are
[45:59]sitting there you know and thought but then there was another group
[46:03]like likes of Amarasir Mhdad Salman al- Farci Abad al-ari who were
[46:10]very close not only with Allah but with Muhamm they were the
[46:16]sh of Muhamm Why didn't they get up the probability is that
[46:21]they did get up but Allah told them not to for nobody
[46:30]deserves to pick and raise Hussein except for Allah except for Allah.
[46:35]He therefore got down from the member when fetched Hussein brought him
[46:40]to the member made him sit on his lap and now that
[46:45]sermon is discontinued it's finished abruptly it's over and now Allah looks
[46:51]at the audience and recites this verse of the holy Quran indeed
[46:58]your possessions and your children are a fat means means of a
[47:03]trial for you.
[47:05]Wow.
[47:06]This verse from the holy Quran, what did he mean?
[47:10]You know what he meant?
[47:12]The muasin, right?
[47:15]Imm Hussein actually had not fallen down.
[47:16]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala was putting his prophet to a trial to
[47:23]a test to see whether his habib is going to continue with
[47:26]his sermon or he is going to stop and come down and
[47:32]echo that respect to Hussein Ali who will later on become the
[47:35]savior of Islam who is later going to become the savior and
[47:41]Allah did not fail in this test he passed pass in his
[47:48]test.
[47:49]And not only that, the Muslims write that when Im Hussein was
[47:53]a child, the holy prophet would lift him sometimes bring him in
[47:56]the masjid and sometimes he would take him out and whenever he
[48:02]met the people, he would tell them Hussein.
[48:07]Indeed, this is my son Al Hussein.
[48:11]Better recognize him.
[48:14]What the prophet was trying to convey to the Muslims is recognize
[48:19]him.
[48:19]A time will come.
[48:20]You should not turn away from him.
[48:21]You should not say that we do not recognize him.
[48:24]Know that he is part of a b.
[48:27]He is going to be the divine guide of his time.
[48:31]And whoever follows on the footstep of Hussein will be guided.
[48:35]Whoever boards the ark of Al Hussein will be granted with salvation.
[48:46]Indeed, Hussein is the lantern of guidance, the lamp of guidance and
[48:54]he is the ark of salvation.
[48:56]So my brothers and sisters, this is why we give lot and
[49:01]lot of importance to Imam al Hussein because it is the command
[49:07]of Allah.
[49:08]He didn't only command us.
[49:09]He prayed to Allah to love him who loves Al Hussein and
[49:13]practically demonstrated through his actions the love for Al Hussein.
[49:19]So this is one part of our discussion.
[49:23]The second question which we want to discuss is that why did
[49:28]I im Hussein openly defy Yazid and not resort to what he
[49:37]could have done is he could have done bay this is what
[49:41]Yazid wanted isn't it we've heard throughout in Muaram this is what
[49:46]we hear isn't it it's very common why Imam Hussein resort to
[49:53]taya.
[49:53]This is what many people are asking.
[49:56]In fact, our own people are asking.
[49:57]I mean an intelligent person could have done this.
[49:59]This is what they say.
[50:02]He could have given bay.
[50:02]He could have saved himself and his family members and his companions
[50:06]from being killed and from being humiliated and then he could have
[50:11]isolated himself either by engrossing himself in the worship of Allah subhanahu
[50:17]wa ta'ala or he would have taken his family and fled from
[50:24]Medina.
[50:22]Most of the Muslims and the companions of Allah did exactly the
[50:31]same.
[50:29]They gave the o of allegiance to Yazid in fear of losing
[50:35]their lives and the lives of their family members and Yazid was
[50:38]able to obtain their bay their o of allegiance.
[50:42]Whatever method he applied whether it was of warning, blackmailing or threatening
[50:47]to kill them or confiscating their asses and their possession but he
[50:52]managed to get the ba of majority of Muslims.
[50:57]My brothers and sisters, you and I need to understand one thing.
[51:02]There is a difference between an ordinary person and a person who
[51:10]has been appointed as a divine guide by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[51:15]to fulfill a divine mission.
[51:17]There's a difference.
[51:20]Understand?
[51:21]You know, please recite was once busy doing his work.
[51:34]He's a mufaser.
[51:34]He has written taps.
[51:37]He's a great Sunni scholar.
[51:38]Sunnis believe in him.
[51:39]And he was busy.
[51:42]He was engrossed.
[51:41]His son came in and he said, "Father, I have a question."
[51:46]Said, "What?" He said, "I was studying the history of what transpired
[51:52]after Rasool.
[51:51]I want to ask you something." He said, "What?" He said when
[51:56]all the sahabas the companions of Allah had done the bay of
[52:00]Yazid why didn't Hussein Ali do the same immediately shut his work
[52:09]the book which he was either writing or reading he immediately shut
[52:12]and looked towards him and said this is not the question you
[52:14]should be asking you should ask if Hussein Ali did not do
[52:21]the bay of Yazid why did all the other companions to why
[52:24]did all the other companions do?
[52:30]Imm is a divine represent representative of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala on
[52:36]this earth and he had a mission to fulfill therefore he could
[52:40]not be what we call selfish thinking about his own life and
[52:48]the lives of his family selfish.
[52:49]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala despises this attribute this quality of selfishness in
[52:56]mo people who are selfish in any matter whether is um in
[53:07]material things or in matters of religion in dunyabi um for example
[53:10]in worldly matters say if a person has been blessed with wealth
[53:15]been blessed with wealth that person does not spend his wealth on
[53:20]his own family.
[53:22]There are such people we call them makus, huh?
[53:28]Who even if a fly falls into the milk they will suck
[53:33]milk out of that fly miser and selfish people they spend their
[53:37]own their money probably on themselves on the friends they go during
[53:40]the weekends but when it comes to the family they don't have
[53:44]proper shelter they don't have proper clothing they don't have proper food
[53:48]and they are experiencing financial difficulty you can see they are such
[53:53]people believe me there are such people what would you call such
[53:57]a person a selfish On the other hand, there are those people
[54:00]also, you know, who have been blessed with wealth.
[54:05]They themselves live like popers, but their family enjoy luxurious life.
[54:10]For example, Mir Osman Ali Khan, one of the nisam of Hyderabad.
[54:15]He was the richest person of his time in India.
[54:19]The richest person of his time.
[54:21]so much of wealth that he used to give British government loans
[54:26]to run their administration in India.
[54:30]India was colonized by the British at that time.
[54:32]So much wealth this man had.
[54:36]His family enjoyed luxurious life.
[54:37]His wife and his daughters wore the best of jewelries.
[54:40]The sons the means of transportation they had in those days.
[54:47]But he himself the sharwani which he wore waton and the cap
[54:50]the lacnoi cap which he used to wear I mean you could
[54:55]know that this had become old and due to sweat it had
[54:58]become black.
[55:00]So somebody asked him one day said Nisam Hyderabad you have got
[55:05]so much wealth your children your family members are all enjoying your
[55:08]wealth how come you are behaving like a poor you know what
[55:15]he responded he said that it is because their father is rich
[55:19]my father was poor so there are people selfishness selfishness so in
[55:24]worldly matters if one suppresses uh his own family will say that
[55:32]he is a selfish person.
[55:33]What about in religious matters?
[55:35]What about in spiritual matters?
[55:38]What would you call him?
[55:41]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala instructs us in the holy Quran.
[55:44]Oh you who claim to believe in Allah.
[55:50]Save yourselves and your families from the fire of save them.
[55:57]Today even if a teacher in Madrasa would tell off huh your
[56:03]children for example rightfully so will you accept it you'll come and
[56:08]you'll fight with the teacher why you want to protect your children
[56:11]isn't it true why can't we protect our children from shaitan and
[56:17]save them from the fire of jannam why can't we do that
[56:23]huh prophet musam was going towards to mountain to communicate with Allah
[56:31]subhanahu wa ta'ala when in the forest as he was passing he
[56:36]came across a blind person living on his own blind person and
[56:42]disabled person living on his own and there were two birds besides
[56:46]him that were feeding he stopped by greeted the man the man
[56:53]said who said I'm M say you're going or he said yes.
[56:59]He said I have a question to ask Allah.
[57:03]Said what?
[57:05]He said just ask who will be my neighbor in paradise.
[57:08]This man was engrossed in ibad blind disabled isolated all by himself
[57:19]worshiping Allah blind being fed by two birds.
[57:23]Look at the height of confidence in this man that he is
[57:26]going to go into paradise the way you and I have confidence.
[57:30]Don't we h oh it's sufficient for us to wear black clothes
[57:35]to recite mlless to cry to do mamm to recite mer I'm
[57:41]not stopping you from this h no no no no this has
[57:45]to be kept alive there's no doubt about but we think that
[57:47]this is sufficient and we are so confident that we are going
[57:53]to enter the ja right we will enter we have the passport
[57:57]look at this And prophet MS comes back and so this man
[58:03]asked did you ask that yes what did Allah respond said Allah
[58:08]says if he enters your paradise then only he will have a
[58:11]neighbor he's not going to go to paradise the man started crying
[58:18]he said but I mean all the signs are there I'm here
[58:20]I'm worshiping Allah not only that Allah has sent these two angels
[58:26]the two pigeons which were there feeding him for him they were
[58:28]the angels feeding me from Allah and you are telling me that
[58:33]I'm not going to enter paradise why did you ask Allah he
[58:37]said yes said why he said now tell me Musa is asking
[58:40]him why are you here in this forest all by yourself why
[58:46]he said because the people in my community do not believe in
[58:52]Allah they are atheists and I fear that being amongst them I
[58:57]may also lose my faith and that is why I isolated my
[59:03]self from them and I have come here.
[59:06]They said this is the reason you are selfish.
[59:08]This is what we are talking about.
[59:11]You are selfish.
[59:11]If you could have stayed there and you could have guided even
[59:16]one person it would have been sufficient.
[59:17]One person if you could have guided this is come this comes
[59:23]under and which was the actual mission of Im Hussein.
[59:25]Inshallah we'll discuss this tomorrow.
[59:27]Isn't it?
[59:28]Running away from your responsibility.
[59:31]So I im Hussein had a divine mission when it comes to
[59:38]protecting yourselves and your families from the fire of Jahannam.
[59:43]We will find in regard to this matter there are several categories
[59:46]of people.
[59:47]We have a category of ordinary people.
[59:50]Husband, wife and and their children.
[59:54]For example, here the command is what?
[59:56]That the father has to ensure that the children and his family
[60:01]are guided towards the right path.
[60:03]Isn't it?
[60:05]How many of us do that is a question for you and
[60:10]I to reflect upon.
[60:10]You know recently just couple of months ago when I was uh
[60:17]attending a conference in Paris discussion came up that our children are
[60:23]facing a lot of challenges today in their colleges in their schools
[60:29]in their universities.
[60:28]No doubt today to send our children here in the west into
[60:35]any university or into any college it's like making them wear white
[60:40]clothes and throwing them into charcoal and then expecting them to come
[60:44]out clean.
[60:43]There's no doubt and there are different challenges which they are facing.
[60:50]How do we address these challenges?
[60:52]This was the issue that was under discussion.
[60:55]There was one person there money I don't know what enmity he
[61:06]has against the people who sit in on the member and he
[61:08]kept saying oh the people who are sitting on the member are
[61:11]not addressing our issues nowadays the scholars that they don't talk they
[61:16]don't talk about these challenges they don't talk eventually I could not
[61:22]take it for those who know me I stood up and I
[61:26]said hold on this is not once this This is not twice.
[61:28]This is not thrice.
[61:30]But several times you have been pointing your finger towards the member
[61:33]that the people of member in the last decade or even more
[61:36]than decade there have been scholars sitting on the member and addressing
[61:40]these challenges.
[61:42]If it has not happened in your jamaat they are there on
[61:47]social media.
[61:49]You have a time to watch but you do not have time
[61:56]to listen to these scholars and make your children children sit and
[62:00]listen to these scholars and then you blame the member.
[62:02]It's not our responsibility.
[62:05]Honestly, it's not the responsibility of mad motherasa teachers as well.
[62:10]The primary responsibility lies on the parents.
[62:13]It lies on the parents.
[62:15]It's not the member.
[62:15]Whatever you hear but when once you are out you are religious
[62:23]yourself you want to pray on time you want to fast you
[62:25]but you do not want to train your children you are lenient
[62:29]with them when it comes to aka come the month of Ramadan
[62:31]oh it's you know the fasts are very long I've told my
[62:36]children not to fast because you have got exams coming what are
[62:39]you doing huh giving a command over the command of Allah subhanahu
[62:46]wa ta'ala that's all right for You huh?
[62:47]You don't care where you bring the food from and feed your
[62:52]children whether this is halal or haram.
[62:53]Huh?
[62:54]You go to supermarket, you just see it's written halal.
[62:57]Halal is written.
[62:58]You don't see what the maraj and the have said that what
[63:03]the source has to be and then you come and blame the
[63:09]member.
[63:08]You point your finger towards the member.
[63:10]Oh, they are not addressing the problem is with you.
[63:15]Remember that.
[63:17]So this is one category of people when it comes to save
[63:21]yourselves in your family.
[63:20]I have been toa and now I have been mad the imam
[63:26]of this masjid for example.
[63:28]Now my responsibility is going to go beyond my own family.
[63:31]I have to guide the whole congregation.
[63:34]If I have been appointed as the prophet for a community then
[63:40]my duty is to in addition to my own family guide that
[63:44]community to the path of Allah.
[63:48]If somebody has been appointed as for the entire world then his
[63:54]responsibility is to the entire world.
[63:57]Come what may come what may come what may.
[64:03]This is his responsibility and after him his rightful successors also have
[64:09]to follow on his path.
[64:13]They cannot be selfish.
[64:13]They cannot run away from their responsibilities and the trials and tribulations
[64:18]which they face in this world that also will serve as a
[64:24]lantern of guidance for the believers.
[64:28]Remember this and I'll give you an example.
[64:36]is the conqueror of huh you know how strong the gate of
[64:48]was the history says 32 tons 32 tons not easy and the
[64:54]Sunni historians have written that Ali when he lifted the gate of
[64:59]Kibar He lifted it with one hand and his feet were in
[65:05]air in the air.
[65:05]Can you measure that strength?
[65:09]Huh?
[65:10]Can anybody measure that strength?
[65:14]But the same Ali after the death of Allah is being dragged
[65:22]from his house with ropes tied around his neck.
[65:25]How there is a person who is pulling him and there is
[65:32]a person who is pushing him.
[65:34]This is Ali.
[65:37]Now for you and I who are not there at that time
[65:41]and we hear both this how can we we reconcile these two
[65:47]the strength of Ali and weakness of Ali.
[65:49]Does it sink in our heads?
[65:51]A person who can lift the gate of Kaibar, how can he
[65:56]become so weak that he is being dragged from his house?
[66:01]But what if a person has seen both occasions?
[66:05]Huh?
[66:05]If he has seen and witnessed with his own eyes Ali lifting
[66:11]the g of Kaibar and he has also witnessed with his eyes
[66:13]Ali being dragged tied in robes and being dragged from his house
[66:19]taken to the court of the Khalif of the time.
[66:20]What would be his stance?
[66:23]One riva and I want to come to Messiah.
[66:26]The riat says that when Ali was being pulled with that robe
[66:32]and there were people pushing him from behind, there were a group
[66:35]of Jews who were standing there.
[66:36]Amongst them, some were rabbis.
[66:40]One of them saw Ali, looked at him, looked at his situation
[66:46]and immediately said, [Music] The Jews who are with him, they turn
[66:58]towards him and they said, "What?
[67:02]You have recited Kala.
[67:02]You have become a Muslim.
[67:03]Why?
[67:04]Why?
[67:05]Why did you do that?" He said, "By God, I have seen
[67:10]with my own eyes this Ali on the day of Kibar.
[67:14]I was amongst the Khaibari Jews.
[67:16]I saw with my own eyes him lifting with one hand 32
[67:22]tons of that gap of Kibar and conquered the fort of Kibar.
[67:25]And today when I am seeing him being dragged like this tied
[67:32]in his robes, I have understood that he is none but a
[67:36]representative hut of Allah on this earth.
[67:38]Where he is required to show his strength, he will show his
[67:43]strength.
[67:42]where he is required to show his weakness.
[67:45]He will show his weakness with patience with sab.
[67:50]Hussein ibali now understand was a representative of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[67:59]He had a divine mission to fulfill.
[68:01]There was no way there was no way that he could have
[68:07]run away from his responsibility.
[68:10]And this is mentioned in the statements which the Imam issued when
[68:16]departing from Medina and in Makkah and even in Kbala on several
[68:21]occasions including the day of Ayad.
[68:25]These are the majis in which we remember the atrocities that were
[68:32]committed against the B after the event of Allah.
[68:33]Allah what kind of Musulman were this?
[68:35]What kind of Muslims were this?
[68:40]Very recently we commemorated the martyrdom of one of the daughters of
[68:45]Imam Hussein by the name of or by the name of and
[68:47]mine.
[68:48]What I would like to do just one narration which I feel
[68:53]will suffice inshallah for us to shed tears and attain the shaf
[68:56]of zah on the day of judgment.
[68:59]It is mentioned that when theatam were taken as captives from Kbalah
[69:09]and they arrived in Kufa, the people of Kufa were informed that
[69:13]there are captives who had done Kuruj who had come out against
[69:16]Yazid.
[69:17]They have been brought into the city of Kufa.
[69:20]The people of Kufa came out with their children and with their
[69:23]families to see the scenery to see what was happening to these
[69:26]captives.
[69:27]There were those who climbed on the terraces of their homes to
[69:32]see the captives.
[69:32]And what was the situation of the captives?
[69:35]There were spears ahead of them bearing the heads of shahada.
[69:39]And behind them there were suddenless camels upon which the women folk
[69:46]were meant to s.
[69:46]And there was a lady by the name of Omahaba.
[69:49]She was sitting in her home.
[69:50]Uh her family members came and told her that you are sitting
[69:54]here why don't you come out?
[69:55]Why don't you come on the terrace and see the captives who
[69:57]have been brought in Kufa Mahhabiba said that when I was in
[70:03]Medina I was told by my mistress in Medina that never to
[70:06]watch the drama of the captives wherever they are.
[70:10]But they insisted they said these are just ordinary captives and no
[70:14]harm will be fall on you.
[70:17]Just come and watch what is happening to them.
[70:21]Mhabiba comes on the terrace as the caravan passes by her house.
[70:25]What she saws?
[70:27]She saw is that on one of the camels there is a
[70:29]baby who is seated and on her lap there is a small
[70:34]child three or four years of old.
[70:36]And that young child is turning to us at disobian saying, "Oh
[70:40]aunt, oh aunt, I am thirsty.
[70:44]If only I can get some water to drink." Oh me Hhabiba,
[70:47]her heart pierced at this and she immediately ran out with a
[70:54]bowl of water arrived by that camel on which this baby was
[70:58]sitting with this child and offered the water.
[71:01]As the water was taken by Zah this Habiba said, "Oh lady,
[71:05]oh baby, can I ask you that once this girl has had
[71:11]this water has quenched her thirst, I have got three wishes, I
[71:16]have got three wishes which I want Allah to fulfill for me,
[71:19]tell this orphan to pray for me." Zab looks at Sakina and
[71:26]says, "Oh Sakira, hold on first pray for this lady." And she
[71:28]says, "What is your first wish?" She said, "My first wish is
[71:33]my husband has gone on a travel.
[71:34]I tell her to pray that my husband should return safely to
[71:38]Kufa." And Sakina raises her small hands and she says, He has
[71:51]been horri.
[72:01]And the third wish is that Allah should guide me with the
[72:06]opportunity of going to Medina.
[72:07]Z heard this heard the name of Medina and she looked at
[72:15]this lady and she recognized that this was and she say oh
[72:20]lady tell me what is there in Medina?
[72:21]She said, "My mistress, I used to serve her when I was
[72:29]in Medina and pray that I have the opportunity to go and
[72:32]see her." And Zab looked at her again and said, "Oh, if
[72:37]you are to see Zab today, would you recognize her?" He said,
[72:43]"Of course, she was my mistress." And Zena moved the head from
[72:49]our face and said, You have not recognized me.
[72:55]I am Zina.
[72:54]Oh, the heads you see ahead.
[72:58]And that is the head of my brother.
[73:01]And that is the head of my brother.
[73:18]All right.
