[0:59]discussion that we need to have within our own lives and that

[1:06]discussion is that in which how we are carrying our own we

[1:10]know that in Islam is one of the most important aspects to

[1:43]truly within our own selves for when we look into ourselves man

[1:47]is made up of two points two fundamental aspects of man is

[1:54]his worldly body his material body and his spiritual body that of

[1:58]his soul and there's this balance that's created between the two of

[2:01]course we need to put a lot of emphasis in our soul

[2:04]but what we see today is a world in which a materialistic

[2:09]lifestyle is pushed forward onto us one that is very one that

[2:13]is very important that one that puts heavy importance onto your own

[2:17]individualistic lifestyle having the most money having the most cars having the

[2:25]biggest houses it's something that's pushed onto us our every single day

[2:29]from our social media that we have to the friends that might

[2:34]be around us we can see that there's a circle there's a

[2:36]societal Viewpoint of trying to push forward in a very material aspect

[2:43]so here you can see that the soul aspect of your body

[2:47]the aspect that is immaterial is not really pushed as much and

[2:52]that's one of the most disappointing aspects of our own society today

[2:58]now we have to ask a question before we try to understand

[3:03]this you have to ask yourself how aware am I of my

[3:08]own soul am I feeding my own soul like I'm feeding my

[3:11]own body because remember since we are of two parts we have

[3:15]to feed ourselves our two parts we have to make sure that

[3:18]it is thriving both on the physical aspect and on the aspect

[3:24]of your soul in your immaterial aspect and we can see that

[3:27]many live their lives only feeding one aspect they feed their body

[3:29]they feed their material lives and we can see that even today

[3:34]there are so many stories you've heard of millionaires or even billionaires

[3:38]who make more so much money yet they're so unhappy with their

[3:41]own life they have millions and millions of dollars yet they want

[3:47]more they're not satisfied he says this millionaire he'll tell you before

[3:50]he must have told you I'm going to make a million dollars

[3:53]but once they make a million dollars they'll want to make a

[3:55]billion I want to make more I want to be the richest

[4:00]man alive and it's this constant search for a deeper meaning within

[4:05]something that is material but Allah he tells you that it's not

[4:10]this material world that gives you meaning and this is why when

[4:13]we began our discussion we started with the Aya Allah those who've

[4:21]believed and whose hearts are assured in the remembrance of Allah unquestionably

[4:25]by the remembrance of Allah the hearts are assured so we can

[4:30]understand from this Ayah that it's not that material world that is

[4:33]going to give you that assurance that makes you in of this

[4:38]world that will give you contentment but it's Allah and it's that

[4:43]spiritual aspect that aspect that is immaterial that gives you real that'll

[4:49]do that will keep your hearts in a state where you are

[4:54]content and on the opposite level we can actually understand that there's

[5:00]another Ayah that contradicts that point of finding fulfillment within a material

[5:03]world Allah says he says then know that your wealth he says

[5:18]your wealth and within your children and within your wealth this is

[5:24]a fitna this is a test for you so you're not finding

[5:29]fulfillment in this in having in your children and raising your children

[5:32]and you're not finding fulfillment in making the most money this is

[5:35]a test for you this is a fitna for you in actuality

[5:39]this is something that Allah has put in place to test you

[5:43]and Allah makes that very clear and that doesn't mean for us

[5:52]to completely disregard our our worldly bodies of course Allah he says

[6:02]once the prayer is over disperse throughout the land seek the Bounty

[6:09]of Allah and remember Allah often maybe those who remember Allah will

[6:13]be successful so we need to learn to balance these two aspects

[6:17]of our life our worldly lives our material life and that of

[6:24]our soul because Allah put so much importance in finding yourself so

[6:28]on a primary level we need to understand that we have to

[6:31]know ourselves we have to know that there is a soul that

[6:34]exists within my body and this material world is a test for

[6:38]that soul and then we have a an Ayah Allah he tells

[6:46]you know so don't be like those who forget Allah so he

[6:55]makes them forget their own Souls it is they Who are the

[7:01]transgressors so we need to understand here the main points that Allah

[7:04]discusses is the fact that ourselves or is an important aspect and

[7:09]previously we discussed that is of three parts we said that is

[7:15]towards Society towards Allah towards yourselves so how much do I know

[7:25]of myself how much do I know of my immaterial aspect of

[7:30]my life and the material and we have a famous Hadith that

[7:34]is shown in many many Hadith books you must have heard it

[7:38]yourselves he who knows himself knows his Lord for you to find

[7:50]Allah first you must find yourself I must find my soul and

[7:54]I must make sure that it's nourished that is clean from any

[7:57]kind of diseases of my heart it has to be completely purified

[8:03]for me to find my Lord only then when I find myself

[8:04]I'll be able to find my Lord and finding yourself here finding

[8:12]your own character is such an important point because once the inside

[8:17]finds his value once he finds how much his soul is worth

[8:23]and how much he can achieve it through reaching that state of

[8:27]perfection he will understand his value then you don't waste your time

[8:33]in things that are Haram you don't waste your time in things

[8:35]that are unimportant to you because I know the value of my

[8:41]soul I know the value which Allah put on it that I

[8:43]can be above even the angels because the Angels themselves the prostrated

[8:48]towards Adam I can reach that level if I feed my soul

[8:51]in this specific Manner and Allah wants you to reach that point

[8:57]so once you realize that you realize the value of yourselves and

[9:00]today that's a major problem that so many people they don't realize

[9:06]that value that Allah has given to you and your soul and

[9:09]we have a famous rohaya that says whoever views himself with respect

[9:18]views his desires with disdain if I reach that point and this

[9:25]is the point of which our imams have reached have reached they've

[9:28]have so much respect for their souls and that's why so many

[9:36]times that we recite every single week foreign I have oppressed my

[9:45]soul because we've made it to a point where our souls have

[9:48]been neglected that's why we say know your soul know the person

[9:57]that you are because once you realize this value of that soul

[9:59]you'll realize that connection with Allah and you will understand that value

[10:03]of the soul that you have and we have another and we'll

[10:09]end off here it was a very famous Hadith he says to

[10:17]his son keep yourself above every little thing even though it may

[10:20]take you to your desires because what you will receive in return

[10:25]is nowhere near worth that which you'll have to give to yourself

[10:28]do not let anything enslave you for Allah created you free I'll

[10:39]repeat myself do not let anything enslave you because Allah has made

[10:46]you free this is the beauty of Islam Allah has made your

[10:53]soul free sometimes we feel like Dean or religion is holding us

[11:00]down it's it's creating chains for us he says don't let anything

[11:05]enslave you because Allah has made you free he's made you pure

[11:10]he's made you free so now the question here arises and this

[11:13]is our final point who are you a slave to because you

[11:19]everyone is a slave to something this is our fundamental point we

[11:24]want to end off with who are you a slave to do

[11:29]not enslave yourself to anything says for Allah has made you free

[11:31]because people are slaves to their wealth people are slaves to their

[11:37]material lives and that is what causes you to feel that enslavement

[11:42]to feel that you're burdened where you cannot reach Allah where your

[11:47]soul doesn't feel pure because you are enslaved foreign don't be a

[12:00]slave to your desires who should you be a slave to I'm

[12:04]the slave of the person who has his that's who I am

[12:15]the slave of and this is the view of our image I'm

[12:18]not a slave of my desires like you people I am only

[12:22]a slave of that who has created me and that's the only

[12:26]person that who you should submit to who you should be a

[12:29]slave to and Allah will end off here is indeed mankind is

[12:40]in loss except for those who believe those who do good those

[12:48]who enjoin on each other's truth and enjoin on each other in

[12:54]patience so we have to make sure we understand we have to

[12:59]know ourselves to truly know our Lord and only then can we

[13:03]not be among those who are in loss and inshallah then we

[13:09]can be part even closer to Allah and even the closer companions
