[0:00][Music] for many people what is the motivator for them behind their

[0:12]actions let's borrow some terms from psychologists here because they know how

[0:17]the human psychology works for example you have psychologists Kohlberg he developed

[0:25]this theory of moral development people when they act when they react

[0:31]when they uphold moral values what is their incentive what is their

[0:36]motivation and he classifies this into six categories the first category is

[0:43]what he calls the preconventional level meaning at the very basic primitive

[0:51]level human beings act because of rewards and punishments just like kids

[0:57]how do you get a kid to do something you either threaten

[1:02]the kid that look if you don't do your assignment if you

[1:07]don't behave I'm gonna ground you this weekend it works for many

[1:11]kids when you threaten them that you're not gonna take them to

[1:17]the park tomorrow they're gonna be grounded you're going to restrict their

[1:22]freedom for example you'll make them do some house chores when you

[1:26]threaten them it works that's how human psychology works for some kids

[1:31]that's not enough for some people that's not enough they need another

[1:36]motivator which is what rewards to reward you some kids if you

[1:43]threaten them they won't budge but if you tell them look all

[1:46]for example buy that game that you want I'll take you to

[1:53]this theme park I'll buy you an iPad this is a motivator

[1:55]we human beings at the pre conventional level at the very basic

[2:00]primitive level honestly that's how we operate so one way to motivate

[2:07]you to get you to a higher level keep reminding yourself that

[2:12]when I'm about to make this sin commit the sin there's going

[2:17]to be a punishment there is going to be a punishment of

[2:22]course if I don't repent God has opened the door for repentance

[2:25]but there will be a punishment people forget people forget let me

[2:31]ask you this question why don't people touch fire why because it

[2:37]burns immediately well Aslam teaches that every sin is fire it's a

[2:44]flame but God has put a barrier between you and feeling this

[2:51]fire to test you because if every human being the minute they

[2:55]would send they'd get burned you think anybody would sin that would

[2:58]defeat the purpose of being tested so remind yourself remind yourself that

[3:03]the sin itself is punishment it's fire it'll come back to haunt

[3:11]me in this world and on the day of judgment in my

[3:13]grave in the purgatory I'll be responsible for this keep this in

[3:19]mind believe me for many people this is enough to deter them

[3:23]from a sin people in society why don't they break the law

[3:25]why don't you speed do you enjoy speeding especially the youngsters the

[3:30]youth who doesn't enjoy speeding specially if you have a fancy car

[3:37]that you're driving or a fast car right when you're on the

[3:40]highway you enjoy speeding why don't you speed they love it why

[3:43]don't you speed ticket right and if you get too many tickets

[3:50]your license will get revoked that's a motivator that's how you keep

[3:54]people in check threaten them with with a fine or some legal

[4:01]action and I'll stop most people most people will be good citizens

[4:05]if tomorrow Canada declares there's no more police on the street there

[4:09]is no more ticketing what do you think will happen big mess

[4:16]I'll turn our freeways will turn into racing tracks I guarantee you

[4:20]people are not gonna people don't think of their safety very few

[4:24]people think that way so as a believer keep this in mind

[4:31]let this motivate you either the rewards or the punishment remember that

[4:36]God has a great reward for those people who keep away from

[4:41]sin you're tempted to sin you stop yourself you stop yourself whether

[4:47]you're looking at something provocative you're listening to something provocative you're about

[4:52]to back by you know and you just want to share the

[4:56]secrets you know about somebody if you hold back the hadith says

[5:03]the angels of the sky will ask God to forgive you and

[5:06]on the day of judgment God has prepared a big reward for

[5:11]you let that be a first motivator [Music] you
