[0:02][Applause] [Music] what is the relationship between fear and faith and how

[0:26]is that related to our basic belief systems as Muslims fear is

[0:31]a natural emotion that we all grow to have it serves as

[0:36]a purpose in alerting us to danger and keeping us safe however

[0:40]we find that for many people fear has taken over their life

[0:44]and keeps them stagnant in their life or anxious about making decisions

[0:51]or taking actions especially those that steps them outside of their comfort

[0:55]zone did you know that the only two fears that you are

[0:58]actually born with are the the fears of loud noises and the

[1:04]fear of falling these are the only two hardwired fears that serve

[1:08]as a true survival Instinct all of the other fears are fears

[1:16]that are learned over time as we grow our sense of self

[1:19]develops and our belief system develops what I mean by that is

[1:22]our belief system about ourselves am I worthy am I strong or

[1:28]am I weak a belief system about about other people are people

[1:33]good are people evil uh and even our belief system about our

[1:36]future am I able to achieve do I have a purpose in

[1:41]life as our sense of self develops and as our belief system

[1:44]develops over time fears also grow and they grow in different ways

[1:51]and for different reasons quite often it's biggest factors are our upbringing

[1:56]and life experiences over time we find that for many people it

[2:01]takes hold of the steering wheel of their life anxious and fearful

[2:06]parents can easily pass that fear and anxiety onto their kids and

[2:10]this level of fear stops them rather than keeping them safe it

[2:16]stops them from being their true selves and living a life of

[2:20]true Freedom purpose and fulfillment that we have all been created to

[2:24]live fear becomes less about real danger to the self and more

[2:31]more about perceived danger to the false self or what can be

[2:35]termed as the ego however since it is a learned that's really

[2:38]empowering to know that as soon as it's a learned fear it

[2:42]can easily be unlearned as well with the right sources with the

[2:45]right support and help we have such a powerful tool as Muslims

[2:51]as Believers to help us through any fear and that is the

[2:55]power of Faith while fear can be seen as residing in our

[2:59]mind thinking that it's keeping keeping us safe what it actually does

[3:04]it keeps us restricted Faith resides in another part of ourselves and

[3:08]that's our heart the part that connects us to Allah subhana wa

[3:11]ta'ala through our soul it is the part that allows us to

[3:16]expand in our thoughts and in our action and connects us to

[3:20]True wisdom growth fulfillment of our goals and purpose so let's maybe

[3:27]consider how our faith especially as Muslims can help help us to

[3:31]expand and face our fears it all starts with the most important

[3:38]and basic belief that we all have as Muslims and Believers and

[3:41]that is the belief ined we have all been taught toed from

[3:47]a young age but we usually just understand it at a theological

[3:52]belief in Allah subhana wa tala the one God while of course

[3:55]this Prime this is primary and essential the TR to truly believe

[4:03]in toed has greater and much wider practical implications to live life

[4:10]as a mu means to believe in the Unseen Allah and to

[4:14]practically submit everything to him such practical Faith ined allows us to

[4:22]acknowledge that not knowing the outcome of our actions or even our

[4:28]goals because they are on scene it's okay because we know that

[4:33]only Allah has control of that only he has control of the

[4:37]outcome of our actions this level of Faith releases us from the

[4:44]tension and attachment to our goals and desires and allows us to

[4:51]focus more on the journey itself the Journey of life and this

[4:55]is truly a beautiful liberating feeling that we can all seek to

[5:01]have what it means is that we do our part in our

[5:04]life and let go of the outcome of our actions fear and

[5:11]anxiety of not knowing the outcome of our actions whether we will

[5:15]succeed or whether we won't succeed whether people will criticize us or

[5:19]people will love us um can be this fear can be intense

[5:26]and it makes us quite often obsess about trying control too much

[5:31]of the Unseen endings thinking that this level of control will relieve

[5:38]us from the anxiety or the fears that we have but what

[5:41]it actually does it feeds that emotion even more and it becomes

[5:47]a vicious cycle of seeking control increasing of the fear and anxiety

[5:49]seeking control increasing fear of an anxiety and what we need to

[5:56]do as Believers as m is break that cycle as people of

[6:01]we know that inshallah Allah subhana tala will choose what is best

[6:05]for us in our life and we can practically submit that ending

[6:11]to him when we Face our challenges in our life be it

[6:14]in our education our relationships our parenting Journey our careers we must

[6:20]turn to him when we release control of the outcome and live

[6:25]mindfully in the moment and in the Journey of life we become

[6:31]more responsive to our goals and our struggles in a conscious and

[6:35]intellectually intellectual manner rather than being reactive to them we will work

[6:44]obviously hard inshallah to do our best but at the same time

[6:47]be at peace in our heart that our creator will give us

[6:51]what is best for us in this life and inshallah in the

[6:58]next Allah subhah waala tells us and that man can have nothing

[7:07]but what he strived for and that his deeds will be seen

[7:11]Allah also says turn to me pray to me and I will

[7:17]answer but something is important to also remember that this level of

[7:25]Faith certainly reduces fear in so many ways and increases faith and

[7:29]increases peace inside your heart but it will not eliminate fear we

[7:34]are humans we are fallible our mind is genuinely a complex tool

[7:38]our aim shouldn't be to focus on eliminating fear but rather to

[7:48]transform it into Faith driven courage knowing that with hardship comes e

[7:52]and Allah just wants us to strive in his path and he

[7:58]will inshallah continue to guide us along that path so what can

[8:03]we do in Practical terms to reduce fear is number one increase

[8:06]that level of practical faith in our life over time that true

[8:13]T and on Allah by choosing to take action that is beneficial

[8:16]in a mindful way but also accept that that fear will be

[8:23]by our side that fear will not go away I am going

[8:25]to focus on my actions and accept that fear will exist I

[8:31]would like to invite you all to think about what you have

[8:35]been fearing to do for such a long time what fears anxieties

[8:39]limiting beliefs have stopped you from achieving your goals or your purpose

[8:43]I would genuinely want to invite you to challenge yourself today to

[8:49]connect with your faith and to Allah subhana wa ta'ala in a

[8:56]deeper way and to begin to face fear by taking actions and

[8:59]accepting that fear will Exist by your side but it's no longer

[9:05]in the driving seat and certainly no longer holding on to the

[9:09]steering wheel of your life because you know that you will strive

[9:12]and only Allah is in charge the outcome [Applause] [Music] oh
