[0:18]so first of all dear brothers and sisters i want to offer
[0:22]you all my condolences on the shahadah of the fourth imam imam
[0:29]sajad salam allah muhammad and i also want to say i mean
[0:37]one it's an absolute pleasure for me to be back here again
[0:39]with brothers and sisters in toledo i apologize for being late i
[0:43]got lost i was a little over confident in my abilities to
[0:48]get here and i was talking and using the gps so i
[0:50]ended up being about nine minutes later than i expected but forgive
[0:54]that insha allah the other thing that i want to say is
[0:58]i'm really happy that alhamdulillah we found a creative way of having
[1:01]these majalis for ah little bait in person that is a big
[1:10]blessing and also the idea that one not only us as adults
[1:15]us as but also the idea that we said our children shouldn't
[1:19]be left behind we didn't want to do this we're not doing
[1:21]this just for ourselves we want to see that the next generation
[1:27]of believers is stronger than us in faith more connected to the
[1:31]masajid and to the aflaid so alhamdulillah for that when you look
[1:35]at the awliya of allah subhanahu you see that they place so
[1:44]much importance on these majalis and i want to mention this specifically
[1:48]for some of our sisters or maybe other individuals who are not
[1:52]able to attend in person because their responsibility means that they have
[1:58]younger menin we have small soldiers that they are taking care of
[2:01]and they're doing this in the house or maybe some of our
[2:05]older generation were not able to attend i want to talk a
[2:06]little bit about the idea of the importance of house majalis so
[2:11]alhamdulillah allah gave us the toffee to be here but how did
[2:14]allah's use these masjawes so many of you have heard the name
[2:22]of allamah his spiritual teacher so his teacher in irfan is a
[2:29]wonderful unique araf by the name of sayyid qadhi tabatabai they say
[2:34]something a little different about say aditabatibai he used to hold majalis
[2:39]in his home i'm saying this brothers and sisters some of us
[2:42]have the tawfiq of being in our homes and of serving a
[2:45]few of the shia of amir al-mu'mineen in our homes of course
[2:50]if we can come in person alhamdulillah let's say we have to
[2:55]he used to have these majalis in his homes and you and
[2:58]i if you haven't been for our buying inshallah make dua remove
[3:01]the ballot hopefully we can go and attend in person what you
[3:05]see over there it makes you a little bit ashamed to call
[3:12]yourself shia when you see others cleaning your shoes simply because you're
[3:16]one of the zawad of the imam you're like who am i
[3:22]that another shia i mean the sacrifices that the people do say
[3:25]when he would have majalis in his home and you would attend
[3:31]how many people would come and attend he would sometimes take the
[3:33]shoes of those who came to his house and clean them like
[3:40]they do in arb to the extent that marcum may have mercy
[3:45]on his soul he said i would always keep my shoes with
[3:49]me because i wouldn't want to see this ayatollah cleaning my shoes
[3:53]and they used to say don't you this is beneath you your
[3:58]ayatollah how he said when it comes to these majalis i am
[4:01]the hawdem of the lovers of imam hussain so you and i
[4:06]alhamdulillah we've been given this tawfiq we don't want to lose this
[4:11]tawfiq yes allah has forced us to become more creative now we're
[4:14]separated we have masks on but that doesn't mean that the sons
[4:19]and daughters of husain take these majalis to be any less serious
[4:23][Music] muhammad there is so much barakah in them we're talking tonight
[4:34]about imam sajad one hadith about imam said before i get into
[4:38]the main talk imam sajad was speaking what happened is a man
[4:42]in the presence of imam sajjad he said this he said i
[4:43]am so shocked how anyone can make it to paradise it's so
[4:50]difficult for people to stay on the side i'm shocked anyone makes
[4:55]it you know what imam said john said he didn't even address
[4:59]his thing he said this ana i say this the surprise isn't
[5:11]those who make it the idea that they're saved he says the
[5:17]shock for me is i'm shocked at how anybody could not make
[5:26]it he says when allah's mercy is he's made so many excuses
[5:34]for people to get their sins forgiven to go back to him
[5:38]why is it that anybody with all of these things that the
[5:42]allah provided us ways of getting closer to alubay why would anybody
[5:46]go to hell one of those things are these majalis imam sadiq
[5:50]says he says whoever mentions us do you have the tawfiq of
[5:55]doing a majeless in your house or like our volunteers who are
[5:59]doing it for our young children right or those adults who will
[6:03]come later and alhamdulillah will be having a modulus in arabic maybe
[6:06]somebody will have the topic of reciting what happened to imam hussain
[6:10]he says or they are recited and we're present he says that
[6:16]if even a tear comes out of your eyes the size of
[6:21]a fly's wing allah will forgive the sins of that person so
[6:27]you and i we're going to keep these majalis going we're going
[6:30]to make sure that they happen and of course insha allah will
[6:35]do it to the right way salah please now brother and sisters
[6:44]what i want to talk to you about a little bit so
[6:46]tonight the idea is we want to talk about the shahadah of
[6:49]the imam but let's talk a little bit about the contributions of
[6:55]the imam the contributions of imam sajjad what happens is those who
[7:01]are experts in history tell us that the 34 35 years that
[7:08]imam sajad was our imam was one of the brightest points in
[7:13]the history of islam his contributions he was our imam for a
[7:18]long time what did he do during those times what lessons can
[7:25]we learn from the imam it's very important for us to be
[7:29]able to discuss unfortunately and i want to mention why people do
[7:34]this some people when they think of the imam they think of
[7:39]him as the imam who was sick in farsi they used to
[7:44]say bhimar the imam was sick they're thinking of karbala the sikh
[7:50]imam even when you hear some of the latmiya or some of
[7:53]the poetry that's recited about imam sajad it doesn't remind you of
[7:58]a champion it's almost somebody you feel sorry for instead of the
[8:06]contributions of the imam the imam was the sikhi mom the weak
[8:10]imam the imam who lady zing had to throw herself on top
[8:14]of to save i was speaking once and a brother was honest
[8:18]with me instead of giving those textbook answers he was like until
[8:22]i learned more about imam sajad in reality he said imam sajat
[8:27]wasn't a role model for me if the imam is a weakling
[8:32]he can't defend himself like imam was saying the sword right but
[8:36]imam sajad if we're honest about it if all he is is
[8:40]a person who's weak who's always crying whenever they would mention karbala
[8:43]like the person was he's a little honest he was like until
[8:46]i learned more about him he wasn't a role model you see
[8:53]the danger if we don't know our imam we don't introduce them
[8:58]in the right way we need to know some things about our
[9:00]imams imam sajjad too and i want to apply this to him
[9:03]why did allah send imams what was the job of in imam
[9:10]how effective were they we want to apply this to imam sajah
[9:15]how effective what was the mission of the imam what was he
[9:19]trying to do how effective was he was he effective was he
[9:25]not how did he deal with his shia what effect did he
[9:30]have when he was doing tarby of his shia how did he
[9:34]deal with his enemies we need to know the social political side
[9:38]of the imam also sometimes unfortunately in majalis there will be an
[9:43]over emphasis on getting to know the personal life of the imam
[9:47]the personal life of a little babe i'm not saying this is
[9:52]wrong by the way i want you guys to seek to walk
[9:54]with me and see where i'm trying to go let's say that
[9:59]i come to know about rasulallah please and i know how he
[10:11]would sleep at night i know how many wives he had i
[10:16]know how what rings he would wear these are important what do
[10:18]oz he would make that's these are good that's good information but
[10:23]brothers and sisters let's be a little honest when you study other
[10:28]world figures when you're in school when you're going to the university
[10:31]when you're in high school when you're studying and you want to
[10:33]know about other world figures gandhi malcolm x martin luther king people
[10:39]good or bad do all you want to know is just about
[10:45]their personal life or do you want to know who their contemporaries
[10:48]were what their contribution was were they good were they bad do
[10:54]they have enemies did they rise to political power did they fail
[10:55]like you wanna you wanna there's a little bit more that normally
[11:00]the human being wants to know about an individual what happens is
[11:06]islam brothers and sisters is a religion that if taught properly turns
[11:15]the shia of amiru menin and the shia of imam sajad salam
[11:20]alaya into giant killers if you know the true story of imam
[11:28]hussain and you're able to share it no matter how many enemies
[11:33]come against you you're ready no matter they threaten you because i
[11:39]this is the imam i learned i see inspiration in this individual
[11:45]who are his enemies i take them as enemies who are his
[11:48]friends i take them as friends if i know the person so
[11:54]the enemies of islam knew that islam if taught properly would turn
[11:58]the shia into being those people who would do what imam mahdi
[12:05]will do they would make the kingdom of god on the earth
[12:08]because the way that it works is that allah sent infallibles and
[12:14]then after that but victory on the outside for the anbiya or
[12:19]after them depended on us followers otherwise the imam is perfect the
[12:26]nabi is perfect if the followers did their responsibilities then the imam
[12:34]would be outwardly victorious if the followers failed then the imam would
[12:39]be slaughtered like karbala the imam would become shaheed like imam zaynullah
[12:48]right so this is a very real conversation if you know let's
[12:54]say you're a tahut and i know that if somebody were to
[12:58]teach islam as is islam would liberate the globe i have to
[13:06]make sure these people the ones who are the game changers that
[13:09]they don't know their religion how would they do that in the
[13:14]time of bani umayya in the time of muawiyah remember the repression
[13:17]that was there in the time of muawiyah if i even think
[13:26]your shia if you mention the name of ali if you right
[13:30]like utter repression there's one way of trying to keep but the
[13:35]tawari discovered something if you try to do repression and just shut
[13:40]the shia down that doesn't work but we have another strategy which
[13:47]is even more effective what's the other strategy that's even i wish
[13:51]they had done the strategy of just brutal that wouldn't have worked
[13:57]they have another one that's more effective what's the other one what
[14:01]about if i take these heroes but now they're not heroes anymore
[14:08]now instead of them being role models people that you can look
[14:12]up to that you could aspire to be like you're like like
[14:16]that young man told me for me mom said i mean i
[14:20]i don't want to be sick i don't want to always be
[14:24]crying i don't want to be weak what about if i could
[14:31]make your heroes the champions of this story not heroes then how
[14:37]effective would i be a much more effective strategy was sick for
[14:46]a few days he didn't spend his whole life sick everybody gets
[14:51]sick two or three days allah willed at the time of karbala
[14:54]for specific reasons that the imam be sick that's not how he
[14:59]spent his life wait till you hear a little about the strategy
[15:02]of the imam and what he did but at least we know
[15:07]the strategy so let's say i'm going to give another example you
[15:11]have a child in a community and everybody knows that my father
[15:17]is someone who the community ridicules they have no respect for they
[15:21]don't like as a child my dad's that kind of a person
[15:25]i have my head down it's hard for me to feel proud
[15:30]of myself to feel confident because everybody is this is the son
[15:35]of such and such what about if my dad was a hero
[15:38]was revered everywhere people went not only would they remember a lot
[15:46]of mercy on your dad there would look at me with a
[15:50]certain level of respect how much confidence would that give me if
[15:54]i saw my dad as a hero we're talking about late now
[15:58]how much would i say i want to learn from him i
[16:02]want to be like him very different so now let's learn a
[16:09]little bit about our imam so brothers and sisters please there's two
[16:21]things i want to share initially so our imams had two all
[16:27]imams had two major responsibilities two major responsibilities all imams you want
[16:34]to see later how imam sajad did this was he effective what
[16:38]did he do how was he with the tawari you want to
[16:41]see that but they all had two responsibilities what were those two
[16:46]responsibilities i'm going to divide the first one into two parts the
[16:49]first thing the imam had to do was to teach islam as
[16:55]is islam was a religion which would liberate the globe but only
[17:03]if people know islam one of the reasons the philosophy for why
[17:10]we had to have imams was the idea that our prophet came
[17:13]sallallahu alaihi wasallam salah please you see now i have missed i
[17:23]have spent the whole muharram and i couldn't have these kind of
[17:25]salawats i need a loud salawat inshallah what happened was our imam
[17:38]why was it needed for an imam to come our prophet came
[17:41]and he taught the people the people knew true islam is it
[17:48]enough when you want something to mature in the minds of the
[17:53]people to simply teach it once or do you have to spend
[17:56]time with people and show to them these teaching this is how
[18:00]it applies this is what you do in these circumstances expound on
[18:03]the teachings work with the people so it becomes second nature to
[18:08]the people one of the jobs of the imam is to go
[18:12]over and explain islam its ideology its philosophy its goals where we
[18:17]were going the akam the rulings how do you live your life
[18:21]to be that practical example to embody islam one of the rules
[18:27]of the imam is this but he knows that he has to
[18:30]also it's not just i hear it one time i need to
[18:32]hear it several times i need to see how it applies in
[18:35]different circumstances then i can go over and i grasp it it
[18:37]comes to me so one of the rules of the imam was
[18:42]that the other role that the imam has is still in that
[18:45]first one a and b is the idea that i have to
[18:53]protect islam so that it isn't deviated from its true course let's
[19:00]say somebody takes those liberating teachings of islam but the way i
[19:06]explain it is that instead of it making you as a shia
[19:09]a giant killer able to take on any tohut it makes you
[19:13]go to sleep is there a way of doing it 100 let's
[19:22]say i take a beautiful verse of the quran like this one
[19:26]we say obey allah and obey the messenger and obey those vested
[19:34]in authority and i convince you that anybody who's in authority trump
[19:39]is in authority and you're like the quran says so trump i
[19:50]don't know are we are we paying attention to this let's take
[19:53]over and i take islam and instead of it being something that
[19:55]liberates you that you're looking you're like imam hussain said he said
[19:59]islam islam will be finished this is a fairy tale that hussein
[20:17]was fighting that yazid and they had a problem no the system
[20:21]of yazid but instead of you hearing it that way you're just
[20:25]like a simple muslim and it was taught to you in that
[20:31]later i want to see i want you to see this in
[20:33]the time of imam sajad how dangerous this was so the allahabad
[20:40]have to make sure there's no tariff they have to make sure
[20:43]that you get the teachings of islam as is you don't apply
[20:46]them in the wrong way you don't think as a muslim that
[20:49]you know trump is a bad guy and a lot of people
[20:53]say he's a bad guy but you know who's going to save
[20:59]islam bite him sleepy joe no come on you and i that's
[21:03]we just we seen the record we were there in the time
[21:09]of obama how many drone strikes what happened to libya what happened
[21:13]to afghanistan there's no way as a muslim somebody's thinking even a
[21:17]thinking american that oh no baiden's gonna that's this day that's hillary
[21:23]that's as dead islam so those are one of the responsibilities to
[21:40]introduce islam as is to explain islam as to make sure we
[21:44]don't misunderstand islam all imams had this response another one is it
[21:47]enough to just teach somebody islam is all that's required from me
[21:53]is just knowledge book knowledge or do i need motivation in order
[22:01]to have an ummah that's going to be that nation that follows
[22:06]that imam that establishes the government of allah on the face of
[22:08]the earth the kingdom of god i also need motivation otherwise book
[22:13]knowledge a lot of people have book knowledge they said once this
[22:20]isn't true by the way inshallah once there was this lady who
[22:25]saw this little old man he was on his porch and he
[22:26]was in a rocking chair and he was just so happy the
[22:32]lady walked over to him and she said i just can't help
[22:36]but notice how happy you are he said yeah i'm happy she
[22:39]said you know i hope you don't mind but what's your secret
[22:42]to such a long healthy life you must exercise all the time
[22:49]i mean what is it you're such a he said no me
[22:53]i don't ever exercise i always eat fatty foods i i smoke
[22:59]three packs of cigarettes a day i don't even drink water i
[23:03]drink soda she said my god how old are you he said
[23:08]i'm 26.
[23:10]in islam just you need motivation as well what am i doing
[23:16]why do i do this so the other job of the athlete
[23:20]was to train people not just give book knowledge not just to
[23:26]teach islam as is to raise and train and develop those people
[23:30]purify them to be able to carry the william to do to
[23:34]humble of the will i have the albeit so you can follow
[23:40]them in those difficult circumstances so is motivational the second duty now
[23:45]because the way that the lobby have taught us is this it's
[23:48]and both these are going to be important later in the time
[23:51]of imam sajah it's not just enough for me to say i'm
[23:57]shia or even just to do part of islam i follow my
[24:03]favorite parts of islam isn't that good well if that's a good
[24:06]thing you know what shaytan did you know how many shaytan loves
[24:10]a lot he made his sajdah was six thousand years how long
[24:17]has your sajdah i don't know six seconds six thousand years but
[24:24]he'll pick and choose with islam press right to adam no i
[24:29]i don't do that in islam a woman a man actually he
[24:36]sent a message to lady fatima through his wife and he asked
[24:38]her a question he went to find out my shia this is
[24:41]what lady fatima said she said in kunta if you do those
[24:50]things we all obey command you to do and you stay away
[24:58]from those things that we tell you to stay away from for
[25:00]anta and she now if you do those then you're one of
[25:08]our shia fallah otherwise you're not here the shia obeys so islam
[25:24]needs motivation not just book knowledge and i can't pick and choose
[25:30]all of islam especially the parts of it that are difficult like
[25:33]the social and political side of bachelor bay wait till you hear
[25:38]the time of imam said john what did he do for us
[25:39]what's his contribution so what happened was the towards they had the
[25:47]way of trying to do this tariff of their religion to try
[25:50]and make it that the teachings would put you to sleep they
[25:54]would use court or lama they would use scholars and their scholars
[26:00]they're working for the omads they're going to make you believe that
[26:05]it's okay to follow them that's their job and these people had
[26:13]sold their for their dunya you and i we're expecting that this
[26:17]person will go over and they will tell me what allah said
[26:19]they will advise me for taqwa i look at them they're the
[26:22]symbol of taqwa they're wearing but what would happen was the court
[26:29]aalim would teach you in islam which will put you to sleep
[26:33]in the time of yes this is real like what are we
[26:38]talking about in the time of imam sajah this is what the
[26:43]soldiers said we were praying towards the kaaba and we were stoning
[26:48]the kaaba with catapults this is this isn't a fairy tale how
[26:52]do we how did you go over and slaughter the grandson of
[26:58]the prophet what said it was okay so if there is god
[27:05]forbid and not right so they would use these court ulama and
[27:07]they would go over and they would teach instead of islam being
[27:11]something that liberates islam will be something that takes us down s
[27:32]so let's go back to where we were okay where we were
[27:38]was this we're saying that every imam had two responsibilities to teach
[27:43]islam as is and to protect islam from taharif in addition to
[27:50]that just book knowledge wouldn't save the shia he also needed to
[27:56]motivate the shia to make them able to carry out their responsibilities
[27:58]so that's every imam but now imam sajad remember i said this
[28:03]is one of the brightest points in the history of islam what
[28:08]did he do he has the two responsibilities of every other imam
[28:12]but the situation is unprecedented under these kind of circumstances so listen
[28:22]the imam has to go over and reteach a broken community islam
[28:32]was a revolutionary message from the time of rasulullah to start off
[28:37]in mecca in with quraish what they did to the followers of
[28:44]the prophet in mecca the wars in madina right islam started off
[28:48]in this revolutionary way and then islam became an islamic government and
[28:53]then islam began to advance right and then after some time amir
[28:59]al-mu'min came with his government right so shias are now okay maybe
[29:03]this can happen and then what happened imam sajja imam hassan and
[29:08]then after imam hassan karbala the shia you and i if we
[29:13]were there at that time we might have been part of a
[29:17]broken community what do i mean by a broken community there were
[29:22]some things that were norms some there were some things that you
[29:26]would respect but these people and imagine if you were there how
[29:31]could they imagine that the grandson of the prophet could be butchered
[29:38]in that way his body strip naked his women paraded through the
[29:49]city like to that somebody could have the head of the imam
[29:52]in a bowl and hit it with a stick like for the
[30:01]the community just like this unbelievable that anybody could be like this
[30:05]you would think that there are some rules what about i want
[30:11]to give us to understand the contributions of imam said what about
[30:15]if i declare yes he did this the masjid of rasulallah i
[30:22]make it mubarak you don't know what they did in medina to
[30:29]the muslims to their women stoning the cop so somebody who's looking
[30:36]at this and then remember after yazid comes marwan after marwan abdullah
[30:43]bin malik you like you're talking about tawari the level of repression
[30:47]in the time of imam sajad is unprecedented the shia have been
[30:57]broken they've lost their leadership they can't even imagine that something like
[31:01]this would happen the words of the imam people were afraid of
[31:06]getting involved with the struggle of of to know what it takes
[31:10]to really be shia we said the the the criteria was to
[31:16]obey the imam in what in his social and political side now
[31:19]in the type this is what the hadith is from he says
[31:24][Music] the people after imam hussain alaihissalam they became except for three
[31:39]does this mean that everybody who was a follower of ahluwai they
[31:43]said imam ali wasn't the first imam no they knew he was
[31:47]the first imam does it mean they weren't praying in their own
[31:49]homes no they were praying but to be a follower of imam
[31:53]sajad at that time to take on the taut to be following
[32:01]your imam there were three who made it then it says after
[32:08]that people were joy but it was blood sweat and tears of
[32:13]imam said i want to talk about what he did how effective
[32:18]was our imam they said that later in the time of imam
[32:21]baklar the imam would go into the masjid medina people would gather
[32:27]around him from three they would be benefiting from abu hanifa qatada
[32:32]others fukaha will be coming they'll be learning from him he's well
[32:38]respected people coming from other cities how did this happen the blood
[32:44]sweat and tears of imam said what did he do how did
[32:47]he take us from being a community that was revolutionary that was
[32:51]moving in the right direction to being broken to bring us back
[32:56]so next part the contributions of the imam right so we've understood
[33:02]that his he had to do the same job as everybody else
[33:04]but the circumstances are unprecedented so imam imam said after karbala had
[33:09]two choices one of them was that he could simply because people
[33:13]they saw what happened benio mayo was not popular the idea of
[33:19]butchering the prophet's family like that it did stir the emotions the
[33:24]imam had one choice i can take the superficial emotions of the
[33:30]people and try my best to gather them and to take down
[33:33]vanilla but the emotions are superficial the groundwork hasn't been laid the
[33:41]infrastructure isn't there the people remember we said the role of the
[33:46]imam is to teach us those teachings and then to make it
[33:49]so that it matures in our hearts and our minds so we
[33:51]can carry the mission of the imam to do tarbee of us
[33:55]so we don't destroy the mission if he tried to go over
[33:59]initially and just rush out there then the people were not ready
[34:04]first of all he would have probably lost to muawiyah and whatever
[34:08]we are but bani omaya secondly even if he won even if
[34:12]he was able to establish a government how do you run it
[34:18]without people it would have failed again so either one choice was
[34:21]to go over and take the emotions of the people people are
[34:24]excited people were upset and try and do it that way or
[34:27]yet another mission what i'm going to do is i'm going to
[34:33]harness these emotions i'm going to take these emotions and turn them
[34:38]into something that later will become a movement i'm going to establish
[34:43]this message of imam hussain so that every shia from now until
[34:47]qiyama when they want to rise they take inspiration from this message
[34:51]i'm going to make sure that happens and i will lay the
[34:57]quiet infrastructure down for the imam after me i have to take
[35:01]the same message and i'm going to do those two roles but
[35:04]in such a way that it becomes a long-term movement which can
[35:10]accomplish the goals of a late yes the first one was very
[35:17]flashy very exciting people were motivated but then what was the result
[35:22]this one is long term it takes being calculated so now he
[35:27]did that but now question i have to re-teach islam islam that's
[35:31]going to take the shia and make each them into giant killers
[35:34]make them able to take on the toward but at the same
[35:38]time i have three followers and i am the son of the
[35:42]person who is the greatest threat to national security on earth and
[35:47]imam was saying the tawa heater after it so everybody's looking at
[35:53]me the community is broken repression at its height and i'll still
[35:56]have to go over and carry this under an absolute dictator how
[36:02]do i do this one of the contributions brothers and sisters is
[36:09]sahih in sahih through our imam taught us how to view god
[36:15]how to view ourselves how to view the world right this masterpiece
[36:23]he retaught us true islam through dua why secondly was that enough
[36:34]just teaching the people no i also have to give you the
[36:41]motivation i have to do the tarbiyah such that you can carry
[36:46]out this mission in sahih meaning reading those laws and interacting with
[36:52]them also does terbia in addition to that what else do i
[36:56]have to do the other thing that i have to do is
[37:01]i can't let karbala be forgotten remember bani umayya wants to take
[37:05]karbala and bury karbala they want it to be the case that
[37:10]nobody remembers or if it's understood if it's heard about then it's
[37:12]misunderstood it's a defeat for islam i have to go over and
[37:18]make sure that on every single occasion i go over and i
[37:24]introduce karbala as is now i want to summarize because inshaallah benefit
[37:28]from to say it i want to mention one more thing that
[37:32]to me was also very important if you look at the life
[37:37]of imam sajah during the period that we're in so the period
[37:41]that we're in is a unique chapter in the life of imam
[37:47]sajad imam sajjad during the captivity when he's asiya when the family
[37:51]are with him he behaves differently than he does for the remainder
[37:56]of his long imam remember his imam is 30 35 34 35
[38:01]years during this chapter though he does things differently what does he
[38:12]do the imam shows the true stance of tashay you versus the
[38:18]tawarid he has to take that community meaning that small group of
[38:25]shias were there this group of followers keep them from being broken
[38:29]keep them from losing the way keep them from losing hope get
[38:32]them back to medina so how does imam do this when they're
[38:37]when they're brought into the courtyard of obeyed allah remember when obeyed
[38:42]allah threatened he was like who are you he said he said
[38:45]but i thought all the guy i thought he was killed he
[38:49]tries to threaten him what does imam sajad do abel to hadith
[38:55]are you threatening with me with death he shows the true stance
[38:59]of imam being murdered being slaughtered this is aadhaa for us shahada
[39:04]is karama for us the imam doesn't do taping or in the
[39:12]courtyard of yazid remember yazid is thinking i've got these guys i've
[39:17]paraded them through the cities i've broken them they're in the worst
[39:20]possible condition i'll bring them in and then now i'll humiliate them
[39:22]i'm going to be beating the head of their father i will
[39:28]be showing everybody he's thinking there's no way this young man is
[39:32]a challenge to me and imam sajah says do you allow me
[39:36]to go on these pieces of wood and talk introducing himself introducing
[39:50]karbala introducing islam he was so effective when he was in this
[39:57]revolutionary mode the there was a ready to have a revolt in
[40:01]sham why did the imam do then later on though you see
[40:07]him with marwan or abdul and he's having conversations he's talking it's
[40:12]different he had to lay the grounds to make sure that the
[40:17]blood of the imam hussain didn't go in ways that this was
[40:22]established for the people so he had to make sure that that
[40:24]happened um i just literally i don't want to take more time
[40:31]no no i i i literally don't want to um take more
[40:35]time and i'm hopeful that inshaallah the sayyid will feel bad for
[40:39]being a little late um i want to end just with one
[40:42]one last story and then after that then inshaallah will be able
[40:46]to benefit from the say so what happens is imam said had
[40:53]to make us be strong able to take on any kind of
[41:00]play proudly in the face of any talk he had to reintroduce
[41:05]this to us because there is a secret brothers and sisters if
[41:08]you and i will do our responsibility we believe god the lord
[41:16]of the universe he's on our side with but you can whatever
[41:22]it is that you can i step it god steps in all
[41:29]you have to do is do your part imam ali teaches us
[41:31]this in this way he says when god saw our sincerity anzalabi
[41:41]ado when el capped god humiliated our enemies god once god made
[41:50]victory descend on us all you have to do is resist right
[41:58]now the palestinians what are they doing casa yemen how unequal is
[42:07]that battle bahrain what chance do they have unless you look at
[42:13]the principles you and i hear god's on your side you do
[42:16]your part one true story and then sha allah say well take
[42:20]us a little further this happened in 1979 there was a little
[42:27]girl actually a family in syria a family in syria what happened
[42:33]was they were migrating to the u.s the father goes first when
[42:38]he goes to the states he sets up and he tells the
[42:41]family and once i set up i'm going to move to california
[42:42]once i set up i want the rest of the family to
[42:45]come they're still in syria 1979.
[42:47]the father goes over he gets established over there he sends words
[42:52]it's time for you guys to come whatever belongings we have our
[42:57]house our belongings these things it's time to sell we're going to
[42:59]come to america mother goes over mother three daughters trying going selling
[43:03]these things we're gonna move to america they get a ticket and
[43:07]their ticket is to travel from syria over to land in new
[43:14]york city and then from new york city chicago and chicago california
[43:20]see that so what happened was they start off their mission they
[43:26]go over and they land in new york 1979 when they land
[43:29]in new york the police the customs you know now people many
[43:33]people are scared of the police many people they're scared of the
[43:37]fdr don't even miss him you know it's okay all small potatoes
[43:46]god they landed in new york 1979.
[43:48]and then the mom goes over we want to come in visas
[43:51]my husband california they say well the rule is that you've got
[43:56]to take off your hijab for the picture mother barely speaks in
[44:03]english my husband's over there i'm a practicing muslim but this is
[44:09]the rule maybe speaking through an interpreter don't hardly understand english the
[44:13]mother says i'm going to take off the hedgehog she takes it
[44:17]off they take the picture she puts the job back on the
[44:19]daughter after her she comes forward she takes off the hijab they
[44:23]take the picture she puts the hijab back on the second daughter
[44:28]the third daughter hala ati they bring her up she says i'm
[44:34]not going to take off the hijab they said little girl she's
[44:40]13.
[44:40]the rule here this is america you want to come in you
[44:44]want to see your dad we understand take off the job we're
[44:46]going to take the picture it's going to be okay she says
[44:50]no send me back to syria i said little girl you can't
[44:54]do this they try and explain to her that she's not working
[44:57]you know how it works be back to syria they say okay
[45:01]let's get her sister they send one sister back the other sister
[45:04]back she says i don't care who you send to talk to
[45:10]me i'm not taking off the hijab finally they see this little
[45:15]girl everybody else did it she they said little girl it's okay
[45:18]you keep your hijab on we'll take the picture we'll send you
[45:21]when she comes in after that then her mother is so angry
[45:27]you delayed us hours in the airport we missed our flight to
[45:34]chicago she's so furious they go over the struggling immigrants trying to
[45:38]get on the next flight this and the other and the mother
[45:42]is just berating her and talking to her and explaining to her
[45:44]and so furious with her they make it to chicago obviously they
[45:49]miss the flight and then they go to california when they arrive
[45:54]in california so this is flight american airlines flight number 191 when
[46:00]they arrive in california their father sees them at the airport but
[46:05]their father is in tears crying why are you crying alhamdulillah you're
[46:09]alive we're alive flight number 191 was the worst airline in the
[46:20]history of american airlines the worst incident that they ever had 200
[46:25]people died in the flight that they were supposed to be on
[46:28]the little girl turns back to her family and says the hijab
[46:35]saved us the hijab saved us foreign
