[0:11]while they come Salam how are you today happy happy this dry
[0:17]nice locations very beautiful okay okay okay for the benefit of my
[0:22]my guests I guess we want to make this personal as well
[0:26]as spiritualism is knowledgeable so I guess the first thing we really
[0:29]like to do is it's about a bit about a bit about
[0:33]you in terms of your background in terms between we and I've
[0:35]witnessed it a couple of questions supported by myself as well so
[0:41]I guess my first question to you is what is it about
[0:44]Islam that Meiji becomes mr.
[0:53]lion Rahim I think the time I became Muslim was time when
[0:58]the history or the effect of Islam the influence of Islam in
[1:06]the West was something that was being newly discovered as part of
[1:11]the general awakening of the African American is through the situation in
[1:18]in America what we realize is that Muslims had a very long
[1:22]history of resistance in the West I don't know if a lot
[1:29]of people know but the first revolution that took place in the
[1:33]West was the Haitian Revolution against the French and that time the
[1:36]French were what you would call a superpower at the time and
[1:42]these were slaves up overthrew the French military in Haiti and took
[1:47]over the country this revolution was a very very important one because
[1:51]when Napoleon sent other French troops to defeat them the defeated that
[1:55]those troops as well and the inspiration of this revolution was Islam
[2:04]there were many Muslim Africans who had led that revolution and what
[2:10]inspired a revolution then we we find out that even long before
[2:15]Columbus came to America Muslims had come to America before Columbus many
[2:21]of these Muslims were Muslim Somali and you know there are in
[2:27]the historical records of Columbus that when the Spaniards were you know
[2:32]fighting all the Indians and massacring all the Indians they said they
[2:37]came upon some very dark Indians who dressed like Muslims who gave
[2:41]them the fight of their lives these were the descendants of those
[2:47]Muslim explorers that came over from Mali so Islam has a very
[2:51]very long history in America and it is because of the rise
[2:56]in that knowledge that I became Muslim well it more in a
[3:01]similar position to yourselves yes it was a very national type of
[3:05]a movement really yes so I mean once you did become assume
[3:11]did you see that those who were actually born Muslim they reflect
[3:15]the teachings of the Prophet once you have read upon Islam the
[3:19]Prophet well yes I know you know one of the things I
[3:23]think that stands out there's very impressive to Western people about Muslims
[3:29]is Muslim generosity and this generosity and also their hospitality as well
[3:35]most of most fatality like for example the heights of it one
[3:38]can see and the March we are very much between our Jeff
[3:42]and Karbala but they are they impressed by Muslim hospitality which goes
[3:48]back to the holy prophet salallahu alaihe Ali by Muslims outward respect
[3:54]for for women for example I said awkwardly because it also reflects
[4:00]upon certain things that Muslims deviate from the path of the holy
[4:04]prophet sallallaahu on Iran so you'd find for example among Muslims you
[4:08]would find the most many misogynists for example you know the you
[4:15]find you find racism very very very very big among among Muslims
[4:19]you find a lot of a lot of negative things you know
[4:25]like for example untrustworthiness and business deal for example and did you
[4:30]see that the Muslims were able to deal with those situations according
[4:35]to how I mean how did half of the Muslims those who
[4:43]were born yes yes were they living up to this I think
[4:45]you know I think there was a more knowledge of Islam that
[4:48]they have and when we say known as you mean knowledge in
[4:50]terms in the full sense not just getting the information but being
[4:53]also able to live the information being also to live those realities
[4:58]that you have learned I think Muslims when they do that yes
[5:05]we rise to the occasion but I do think also sometimes you
[5:08]know how much Islam you reflect has a lot to do with
[5:16]who you are on the inside you know and and if you
[5:19]have a lot of limitations on the inside you know you will
[5:23]reflect it so well yeah I mean in terms of the actual
[5:26]nights you know we are celebrating Senate I mean celebrating the birth
[5:33]of a certain character an Islamic historical character some sects within this
[5:38]time series as innovation we've heard the famous words of a laptop
[5:43]what is it's not actual take on celebrating the birth or even
[5:48]the death or commemorating the death of a certain historic personality minister
[5:52]well I think first of all a bit eyes are is a
[5:57]highly precise term Bidar is when you call something you know Rajab
[6:01]or Haram or most hub or makrooh because you give some something
[6:11]that legal and spiritual almost criterion when there is no roots for
[6:17]it in the Holy Prophet Sunnah in hadith in Quran this is
[6:20]bitter you know so for example if I say that hold a
[6:26]holding mulatto and ABI is watching that's better you know or its
[6:30]movement is most ahaab it's better you know in a legal point
[6:37]of view and more all Muslims know that the Prophet didn't celebrate
[6:46]his birthday no but it can't call it that and make it
[6:49]a bit uh you see you can't call it up it's not
[6:51]cool or whatever you know they can't do this you see that's
[6:55]one thing the other thing is is I think the attitude towards
[7:01]that is a very rigid attitude I think it goes back to
[7:03]a false understanding of what we mean by Sunnah okay all right
[7:08]I think that we have we have we have two kinds of
[7:10]sana we have the son of the holy prophet salallahu alaihe are
[7:13]a and we have so many general sense which is some kind
[7:16]of practice that you introduce the people that people follow after you
[7:18]right so your perfect physical prophet you know this is a Sunnah
[7:25]and there's a very interesting hadith by the holy prophets allah allahu
[7:28]allah ma li where he says if a person introduces a good
[7:31]Sunnah and other people follow him on this he will get the
[7:38]reward of their acting out of that sooner right which would not
[7:41]diminish the rewards that they get from it in other words he
[7:44]is saying that you can do a good deed that might not
[7:46]necessarily be in Quran or Hadees you know you can do a
[7:50]good deed and if people follow that good deed and people aren't
[7:52]doing that good deed then you know you would get rewarded for
[7:58]that so for example a gathering like this is a good deed
[8:00]you know it increases our love for the holy prophet salallahu alaihe
[8:03]body and because of this we get rewarded for this okay I
[8:09]mean just moving on again in terms of the the life of
[8:14]the prophets of course he used known in many titles trustworthy one
[8:19]for example truthful most my kind and came his birth came at
[8:25]a time of deep ignorance that in actual history there's a term
[8:29]called for that people insist they are jealous at the time of
[8:31]ignorance so tell us tell us about his character - attributes that
[8:39]actually you know revived religion in the hearts of the people well
[8:44]you know first of all he behaved in a in a very
[8:49]kind manner to people he behaved in a very tolerant monitor people
[8:54]he he did not show you know theory and and and and
[9:02]rough the people he well he never showed anger on that kind
[9:04]of a level you know there were times when he was angry
[9:08]but he was headed under control you know you have the story
[9:11]of him going on tablet and somebody from from from their window
[9:18]is through you know refused upon him you know rubbish up on
[9:21]him I mean this man he passed by and this man didn't
[9:24]do it he inquired as to what happened to this guy and
[9:26]went inside to see him and was sick and he prayed for
[9:30]him and so I think you know when we interact with the
[9:34]community when you act with will be interact with non-believers you know
[9:37]on the basis of love and care and and standing up for
[9:40]their rights and so forth you know then non-believers start like you
[9:47]and when it started like you they started like Islam you know
[9:51]you know the Holy Prophet SAW Allah walia walia says that when
[9:55]he was younger there was something that he was most proud about
[9:58]even now and that was the healthful food rule where him and
[10:06]a number of young men from Mecca decided to form a group
[10:09]to defend the rights of those people who did not have the
[10:12]support of a tribe strangers in the society now who are these
[10:17]young men they were all mushrikeen you know they were they weren't
[10:23]Muslims he was not he wasn't a prophet then you see but
[10:25]they had a sense of justice you know I think this is
[10:28]something that we can learn we live in an environment where we
[10:30]have lots of mushrikeen you know our social problems you see social
[10:37]problems are the government you know the police or other people do
[10:41]nothing about you see so I'd be getting to a point where
[10:43]people have to get together you know and try to solve their
[10:47]own problems this is where Muslims could come in you're not very
[10:49]act itself is a prophetic act unfortunately if I a lot of
[10:55]Muslims especially she as I find that imaginal eyes themselves of the
[10:58]wider society you see and I think we we actually impose upon
[11:01]ourselves a limitation not being able to spread this beautiful map of
[11:05]ours in the society I mean I think is usually known to
[11:13]be a very spiritual religion area especially when it comes to connecting
[11:18]with the staff is always very personal it's very self development character
[11:24]building there's not much about this progress materially materialistically as well as
[11:31]as well as virtue so I mean I guess my question is
[11:33]I mean what college do you have about how Islam is a
[11:39]source of material and spiritual growth well I think if you look
[11:42]in history for example wherever a society became Islamic it became both
[11:46]materially powerful and well off and also spiritually wherever you go you
[11:52]know if you go to Indonesia for example the Indonesia is word
[11:57]originally Muslims you find when Islam takes root there you have a
[12:01]specific Indonesian Islamic civilization that grows up there you know if you
[12:06]find Islam for example going to Africa you find specific Islamic civilizations
[12:10]growing up in Africa each civilization having its particular characteristics of the
[12:15]people and the environment in which you find itself in China in
[12:19]India in Iran wherever you find Islam going you know you find
[12:26]a civilization in other words you find wealth you find power and
[12:30]you also find the growth of spirituality Islamic law or fun and
[12:35]so forth so Aslam is a spray is civilizational and spiritualizing type
[12:42]of religion just one of us I mean in terms of based
[12:48]on your experiences what can we do to give a good experience
[12:51]of a prophetic example okay well you know the holy prophets allah
[13:02]allahu ala nadya was described as being the quran in person I
[13:06]mean the having the personality of the Quran and and I think
[13:09]it is something that is actionable by all of us to the
[13:15]extent that we can in the sense that if we follow what
[13:19]the Holy Quran is telling us to do and if we avoid
[13:21]what the Holy Quran tells us to avoid and if we tolerate
[13:25]that was Holy Quran tells us is good but our culture tells
[13:28]us is bad our feelings tells us it's bad you know that
[13:35]we could control those things to conform to that particular personality Quran
[13:40]is trying to form of us and then all sort of follow
[13:42]the whole is that the son of the holy prophet sallallaahu Oliver
[13:47]RA which helps to even we find us even more I think
[13:49]when we do this and we go out in the society what
[13:51]are we in a classroom what on the street or in a
[13:56]store whatever that that light was shining forth and people will be
[13:58]attracted to it well it's been actually in nineteen conversation we are
[14:02]really really appreciate your time Michelle I'm Anthony we thank him for
[14:07]his presence but also how many Mohamed Salah
