[0:01][Music] Alhamdulillah.
[0:26]Amen.
[0:29]for [Music] for [Music] a second salawat in honor of our holy
[1:28]prophet.
[1:29]prophets and his blessed progeny.
[1:38]>> And the third with the loudest of your voices for the
[1:42]hastening of the relief and the reappearance of the Imam of our
[1:44]time.
[1:52][Music] Yeah, please come forward.
[2:03][Music] Dear brothers and sisters, Allah subhana wa ta'ala says in the
[2:17]verse that I recited, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says in this verse,
[2:28]"Do the people, the ones that do know and the ones that
[2:34]don't know, are they comparable?
[2:34]Can we compare them?
[2:36]It's in a way we can understand that they're not equal.
[2:41]Allah subhana wa tala says are they equal?
[2:44]We say no.
[2:47]The people who know who have what we call and the ones
[2:50]who don't have Allah subhana wa ta'ala separates them.
[2:54]And as a result, we've spoken in the past few nights regarding
[2:57]how we need to find perfection.
[3:00]And I want to reiterate that because that's the core concept of
[3:05]all my lectures.
[3:05]At the end of the day, all of us want to align
[3:09]ourselves with the one who is the most perfect.
[3:12]We want to align our attributes to the one who has the
[3:15]best of attributes.
[3:16]And that attri and that person is >> Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[3:21]As a result, every single thing that we do and every goal
[3:24]that we have in mind, it should be in align with how
[3:28]we want to get close to Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[3:33]When I work, we need to have that level of laser to
[3:36]Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[3:38]When I study, I study to get closer to Allah subhanahu wa
[3:41]ta'ala.
[3:42]And today we're going to talk about the most one of the
[3:44]most important aspects.
[3:46]When I gain knowledge, I gain it for the sake of connecting
[3:49]myself with the person who is the source of knowledge.
[3:53]We said Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is the source of all love.
[3:56]In the same manner, Allah is the source of all knowledge.
[4:00]He is knowledge.
[4:02]When we talk about Allah subhana wa ta'ala, we don't say that
[4:07]Allah has knowledge, right?
[4:08]You might have studied it in class.
[4:11]We talk about and means this.
[4:16]When I talk about Allah subhana wa ta'ala's attributes, I'm not saying
[4:20]Allah has it like we say that I have it just so
[4:24]because at that same time we can understand he might not have
[4:26]it.
[4:27]There might have been a time he didn't have it.
[4:31]No, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is knowledge.
[4:34]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is love.
[4:39]Allah subhanana wa ta'ala is these attributes.
[4:40]It's not different from that him.
[4:45]They are a part of him.
[4:45]So when I talk about knowledge, our goal Allah subhana wa ta'ala
[4:49]says is to gain all knowledge.
[4:54]We cannot be equal to those who don't know.
[4:54]So in our goal to seek perfections, we have to in our
[5:00]in our need to find spiritual refinement to find we need to
[5:04]make sure that we try to gain knowledge to get to that.
[5:09]Bakam he says in a verse in volume 1 page 33 he
[5:23]says whose knowledge benefits others it's better than what is that 70,000
[5:33]believers the is greater than him if he's able to benefit others
[5:38]with that knowledge So we can understand that our imams have always
[5:42]stressed on this point of knowledge and to gain knowledge.
[5:47]When someone worships and they don't understand what they worship then it's
[5:50]easier for them to fall into invoc to innovations or so when
[5:57]something comes into their belief and someone tells them that we should
[6:01]do this to worship Allah they'll fall into it.
[6:02]But an Alan for example he understands it.
[6:07]He discerners between what's and what's if if shaitan for example tries
[6:11]to bring an innovation towards him he will try to analyze it
[6:14]and as a result he'll be able to remove anything that is
[6:18]not part of Islam and he's able to take what is correct.
[6:24]So that's why we can understand that when we compare someone who
[6:27]is a worshipper who is just a worshipper and he doesn't reflect
[6:30]on it and he doesn't use his in that manner it's good
[6:36]he receives the salah but that salab is not comparable to someone
[6:40]who is knowledgeable who understands uh Allah subhana t who understands his
[6:45]actions and who understands the holy prophet Muhammad and his family.
[6:58]>> So we need to make sure that when we worship, it's
[7:02]not an empty type of worship.
[7:03]That's not what's going to find that's not what's going to help
[7:09]us find spiritual refinement.
[7:10]It has to be along with knowledge and then that worship we
[7:16]can say it tastes different.
[7:17]It's more sweeter to us.
[7:19]What's an example of worship that does not have any knowledge?
[7:25]The example of shaitan.
[7:24]When we look at shaitan, he was brought he was a jin
[7:29]that was brought to the levels of the angels because of his
[7:31]worship to Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[7:35]And in that moment that Allah subhana wa ta'ala told him to
[7:38]do sag to Adam in that moment because of his lack of
[7:42]intellect because of his lack of because of his lack of he
[7:48]decided to say no his arrogance overcame him in that moment.
[7:51]So we want to make sure that when we do something when
[7:55]we worship Allah subhana wa ta'ala it's not heedless worship it's not
[7:59]a worship that doesn't have any of our attention towards it.
[8:03]So this is why we need to seek mahat.
[8:07]And there's two types of knowledge.
[8:08]I want you guys to pay attention to this point.
[8:11]There's an outward knowledge and then there's an inward knowledge.
[8:14]And we discussed a lot of what's inward and what's outward previously
[8:17]when we talked about our and our soul.
[8:20]But the first type of knowledge is when you study it.
[8:24]There's certain things you go to the hadith, you study it.
[8:26]You read of other books of our you study it and then
[8:31]as a result you receive the second type of knowledge that is
[8:35]kh it's what you call self-rectification as a result our souls are
[8:42]affected by that knowledge and they're inter intertwined when we receive outward
[8:45]knowledge it should also help us realize that inward knowledge as well
[8:53]that kash that that self-reflection when we reflect on kind of text,
[8:58]that inward kind of uh rectification, self-rectification, we're able to get both.
[9:05]So many people, they might only get what's on the surface of
[9:08]what's knowledge.
[9:09]But when you don't reflect on it, when you don't allow it
[9:12]to change your soul, to have an impact on your soul, then
[9:15]you won't be able to gain as much knowledge as someone who
[9:18]is able to dive even deeper than that.
[9:20]I know we have a few brothers that are coming.
[9:22]So if I can ask everyone to just push a little forward
[9:24]with your salawat just try to make some space.
[9:31]I know there are a lot of brothers that are going to
[9:33]be coming here.
[9:34]So we just want to make sure that they're not stepping over
[9:37]anyone when they enter.
[9:47]So this that we talk about this knowledge it helps us to
[9:54]not fall into certain aspects that are haram for example and it's
[10:00]really interesting I wanted to tonight look at this important uh understanding
[10:07]from may in his life he says that there are a group
[10:10]of people that h comes to them they receive H they receive
[10:16]the truth but they reject it.
[10:18]They are of three types that reject the truth.
[10:22]Everyone wants to accept the truth.
[10:24]No.
[10:25]If you know it's h why would you not?
[10:28]Now here's why.
[10:27]Let's look at them.
[10:31]There's one group of people that the hack comes to them and
[10:33]then they reject it.
[10:36]These people are called they are the people who are very apathetic
[10:39]towards it.
[10:41]meaning they don't care about it whether it's h or whether it's
[10:44]not it's not important to me I'm too busy with my own
[10:48]life to find what's h and what's so it doesn't matter as
[10:53]a result because of the fact they're so apathetic towards that nature
[10:57]of h they are they are someone who's heedless someone who's who
[11:01]doesn't care and Allah subhana wa ta talks about him about them
[11:08]he says in surah 7 verse 179ah Indeed, we've destined many jin
[11:18]and humans for hell.
[11:24]They have hearts and they don't understand with those hearts.
[11:29]They have eyes, but they don't understand with those eyes.
[11:36]And then when with their ears they don't hear with it, eyes
[11:41]that they do not see with hearts that they do not connect
[11:45]understand with and ears that they do not hear with.
[11:50]Allah subhana wa ta says what they're like cattle.
[11:56]What difference are they with cattle for example?
[11:59]They don't listen.
[12:00]They don't reflect.
[12:02]They don't use their like we talked about animals when we don't
[12:06]use our when we don't try to reflect we become lower than
[12:12]those animals that's our level.
[12:13]So he says they're saying that these people that don't reflect, they
[12:18]don't think, they don't use their eyes, their hearts, and their ears.
[12:22]And then here's what they say, Allahhana wa ta says after that,
[12:30]in fact, they're even less guided than that.
[12:32]So they say they're like cattle, but then they say, then Allah
[12:37]says they're even more misguided than those cattle.
[12:40]And then this is those people are hateless.
[12:46]They're they do not care.
[12:48]They've come to a point where they're apathetic towards that nature.
[12:51]So these people they have that potential to reach that level.
[12:56]But because of the fact that they decided I don't care about
[13:00]what's happen what's they lose it this is the first group that
[13:05]talks about the second group is what they are those who are
[13:13]arrogant rejectors and this is obvious they see h they know what
[13:16]h is they see the value of the hap but due to
[13:20]their arrogance or due to their worldviews or they care about this
[13:23]world too much they won't accept it.
[13:26]Allah subhana wa ta'ala also refers to them in the holy Quran
[13:34]in verse surah 27:14.
[13:40][Music] And although their hearts were convinced that the signs were true,
[13:49]they still denied that it was correct.
[13:53]and see look at them what is their what is their end
[13:58]Allah subhana wa ta says these people they realize they understand it
[14:03]but they will reject it they will say that I have something
[14:06]that is within this world that matters more to me who is
[14:12]an example of this omarn he knew the h of IM he
[14:18]knew the h of the holy prophet and his family and he
[14:22]still he decided to reject it because what he had a letter
[14:25]from that said if you can go through with this we'll give
[14:31]you a position as the governor of or at that time as
[14:35]a result of his love for this world he decides to leave
[14:38]it he's the second type the first person is someone who is
[14:42]completely doesn't care the second is someone who as a result they
[14:48]know hap but they decide to leave hap because they want to
[14:52]they want something else.
[14:52]The third is someone who is genuinely confused as a result of
[14:59]misinformation or mental uh limitations or whatever it may be or due
[15:02]to upbringing that h they didn't get a chance to truly understand
[15:06]it.
[15:06]They were unable to discern what was right and wrong.
[15:10]For whatever reason they were unable to discern what's h and what's
[15:15]so they are the incapable.
[15:16]So these three groups were all found on the day of Ashur
[15:22]and Yazid's army.
[15:22]They're one of these three because either they did not know what
[15:26]was hak and they decided to just follow along what the mob
[15:32]mentality was in that time or maybe they had they knew what
[15:35]hak was.
[15:36]But because they were afraid of their life or because they wanted
[15:40]to get something from being in that army, they were in that
[15:43]army.
[15:44]Or of course we said those who they didn't care whether he's
[15:47]in hazm is Hussein's in it doesn't matter to me.
[15:52]All three of these people they were in that army and they
[15:57]were fighting against Im Hussein.
[15:59]Why else would they fight against the the grandson of the holy
[16:05]prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam?
[16:13]He writes a letter to his son Muhammad Hanafi uh before he
[16:20]leaves to Kbala and he sends it to him says I don't
[16:25]rise to seek ambition, pride, I don't seek corruption or injustice but
[16:30]I I rose up to reform the um of my grandfather.
[16:36]I wanted to enjoy good and forbid evil and follow the path
[16:41]of my grandfather and my father because Hussein went to Kabal to
[16:49]awaken these people.
[16:48]A lot of these people for those some people they knew what
[16:53]h was but they chose to not accept it but there were
[16:55]other people who were apathetic as we said or people who weren't
[16:58]able to discern it.
[17:00]So he said he had to at least go to do towards
[17:02]these people that maybe just maybe these people will turn towards the
[17:08]right path and they'll leave their uh positions.
[17:09]They'll leave this world to choose what's what the next world.
[17:15]And now when we look at these three groups of people a
[17:19]question then rises up.
[17:19]What causes someone to enter into these three groups?
[17:25]What causes someone to know h but decide not to accept it?
[17:28]What's their reason to do so?
[17:32]And then we have from our scholars a few different reasons that
[17:36]they decided to do so.
[17:36]The first is because their and their morality was ruined.
[17:42]Their souls were in a manner that they were completely arrogant.
[17:46]They were completely against Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[17:48]They were unjust to themselves.
[17:51]We say I've done soul I've done injustice to my own self.
[17:57]These people did it on a higher level on a higher scope.
[18:03]So they were people just like shaitan.
[18:06]Shaitan as we said he had the opportunity to stay in heaven.
[18:09]He had an opportunity to accept that Adam was created by Allah
[18:12]and he had to prostrate towards him as a result of his
[18:17]arrogance.
[18:18]He decided no I'm not going to do so.
[18:21]I won't follow this.
[18:21]So there are people like that.
[18:23]people who they've ruined their souls as a result of ruining their
[18:30]souls.
[18:31]They were in the army of Yazid and that was the cause
[18:33]of many of them to fight against Im Hussein.
[18:37]What does Hussein say on that day of Ash?
[18:40]He says, "Oh you who are the group of the followers of
[18:48]the Sufy," he's saying, he says what?
[18:57]If you don't have a religion and you do not fear your
[19:03]hereafter, he says at least if you don't believe in religion.
[19:09]At least if you do not you're not afraid of the hellfire
[19:14]at then at least be free.
[19:18]Don't let Yazid control you.
[19:19]Be human.
[19:21]Look at that circumstances that we are in and understand humanity in
[19:26]this moment.
[19:26]Don't fall for these tricks of Yazid.
[19:31]He says this.
[19:30]Why is he saying that though?
[19:31]He says if you're not Muslim, was I Hussein fighting against people
[19:37]who were not Muslim, people who are mushik.
[19:41]No.
[19:42]Hussein was fighting against Muslim, right?
[19:46]It was Hussein against the Muslim army.
[19:49]They claim to be Muslim.
[19:54]So why does say so?
[19:55]Why does he say if you don't accept religion or you don't
[20:01]have a religion at least be free?
[20:02]These people they were hesit [Music] of the Quran.
[20:23]They remembered it by their hearts.
[20:24]But as we said, if that knowledge was on a outwardly level,
[20:29]it doesn't affect you.
[20:30]And it was because of that that these people they fell into
[20:33]that propaganda.
[20:34]They fell into that and some of them they even enforced that
[20:38]propaganda on others that they should follow the army of Yazid.
[20:43]So we have to make sure that we don't fall into that
[20:47]that our arrogance or our or our manners cause us to fall
[20:54]into that pitfall.
[21:03]A second group, a second cause as to why some of those
[21:09]people they fought against Imusam was why some of those people they
[21:15]constantly and persistently sinned to a point where it didn't matter to
[21:20]them at all anymore.
[21:23]Sin was normal.
[21:23]Remember how when I talked about sins before talked about the fact
[21:29]that we shouldn't make sin small when we feel that it's something
[21:32]small and we sin and we sin and we sin it's like
[21:36]a dot in your heart right it starts just one dot and
[21:38]then two you don't feel it until a point where your heart
[21:44]becomes completely dark and then in that point Allah subhana wa ta'ala
[21:48]will close that door to you not because we said Allah is
[21:49]not the fact that Allah subhana wa ta'ala that doesn't forgive your
[21:56]sins.
[21:54]No, we talked about this already.
[21:59]But these people turned to a point where they couldn't turn back
[22:03]where they got their hearts sealed.
[22:05]Allah subhana wa ta talks about him about these people says Allah
[22:08]seals their hearts and in that moment there's no returning for them.
[22:15]No matter how much rah that exists from Allah subhana wa ta'ala,
[22:19]they rejected it.
[22:19]So at that point there was nothing to enter into their hearts.
[22:24]They were these kind of people.
[22:25]So as a result of their sins they caused themselves to go
[22:29]away from this uh from h they rejected h.
[22:34]So this is a second example and we have another group another
[22:40]example here.
[22:41]They were in love of the dunya.
[22:43]They loved the dunya in a manner that they couldn't detach themselves
[22:48]from it.
[22:49]And we have an example in the Quran that explains this.
[22:55]Allah subhana wa ta'ala talks about people who are attached to the
[22:59]dunya.
[23:00]There's a man during the time of prophet Musam.
[23:05]His name is Bal was a man who was a very learned
[23:11]man.
[23:12]Allah subhana wa ta'ala gave him a gift and he was a
[23:16]scholar and he would teach other people and his story Allah subhana
[23:19]wa ta'ala alludes to him in the Quran he was teaching even
[23:24]scholars he was a great scholar himself and shaitan he whispered in
[23:28]his ear what does the Quran say about him inah verse 175
[23:41]and relate to them, oh prophet, the story of of the one
[23:46]to whom we gave our signs and he abandoned them.
[23:50]So Satan took a hold of him and he became a deviant.
[23:53]He continues in the next verse.
[23:58]Allah subhana t says, [Music] "If we had willed, we would have
[24:08]elevated him with our signs.
[24:11]But he clung to his life.
[24:13]He followed his evil desires.
[24:19]Allah subhana t says he would have been high above.
[24:23]He would have as a result of our science he would have
[24:26]reached a very high level like we said insan is in the
[24:28]highest of level but because he followed his heart he followed his
[24:35]worldly desires not his heart his nefs because he followed this material
[24:39]world he is like the of Allah subhana wa ta'ala refers to
[24:49]him as a dog what does he say after He says his
[24:55]he says if you chase it away it pants and if you
[25:00]leave it it still pants.
[25:03]It's like the people who have for example they have lied when
[25:09]we have come to when our example came to them they they
[25:13]denied our example and narrate them stories of the past so that
[25:20]they may think.
[25:22]So Allah even talks about this.
[25:24]The story was that the people wanted him wanted him to curse
[25:31]prophet Musa Alisam.
[25:31]Of course he said no.
[25:34]He was someone who had that level of understanding at first.
[25:36]He said why would I curse Prophet Mus Alam?
[25:39]He's from Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[25:40]So these people these people who were sinners they wanted him to
[25:48]curse him.
[25:46]So he did it.
[25:49]They decided okay there's another way we can get to him.
[25:51]If we give his wife a bunch of gifts and then we
[25:55]get her to tell him.
[25:59]So as a result they influence his wife.
[26:02]They give her gifts, expensive things and then as a result he
[26:06]receives those expensive things from her as well.
[26:11]And she she makes him make this curse and at the end
[26:13]he surrendered.
[26:15]He said okay I will make this dua to curse prophet Musa
[26:18]Alisam.
[26:19]when he made that curse to prophet Musa alaihi wasallam it didn't
[26:26]happen and then it not did it just not happen Allah subhanahu
[26:29]wa ta'ala stripped him from that spiritual gift that he had so
[26:33]that example of is a way for us to understand that just
[26:40]because sometimes we have a level of knowledge sometimes we fall into
[26:45]this world because of our worldly pleasures we decide to leave that
[26:49]and I'm not saying not to gain money, not to look for
[26:55]wealth.
[26:56]Of course, like I said, be the best in your field, make
[26:59]as much money, make millions.
[27:00]What's the problem?
[27:02]Islam says nothing about that.
[27:04]Islam doesn't say that you can't do that.
[27:06]But an excessive love of this world, a love that causes you
[27:09]to go away from Islam, that when Islam doesn't become your main
[27:14]point of focus, that wealth causes you to, it might be your
[27:18]pitfall.
[27:18]It might cause your downfall.
[27:19]And like we said, that's the example of it was said that
[27:27]on the night of Ash, his son, he relates it that he
[27:31]said that his father couldn't sleep.
[27:33]He was very restless.
[27:33]He looked at the sky.
[27:36]He was feeling that he was at a clash.
[27:39]His love of his dunya was clashing with what?
[27:41]His fear of the hellfire.
[27:42]So according to his son, he was talking to himself.
[27:45]He says, "How can I miss this opportunity?
[27:45]This is not an everyday opportunity.
[27:47]This is my dream.
[27:49]I wanted to be a governor.
[27:49]And they're now they're asking me to get this dream.
[27:54]I have to kill the grandson of the holy prophet.
[27:56]This was the internal battle that he had to feel.
[27:58]So what am I supposed to do?
[28:01]Am I able to get both of them?
[28:05]Can I also get this position and also get get my he
[28:10]thinks that he might be able to and because of that shaitan
[28:13]he's able to enter into his heartan tells him what he says
[28:19]that by his logic shaitan tells him this he says I'm going
[28:23]to commit this crime I'm going to kill Imusam but then I'm
[28:28]going to repent when I repent Allah subhana wa ta'ala is going
[28:31]to give me both this and is going to give me What
[28:34]do we say about repentance?
[28:37]You can't do repentance in that manner.
[28:39]You can't decide to have both the haram and then to get
[28:42]a reward after that.
[28:43]So he thought that he can he decided you know what this
[28:47]is a good way that I can do it.
[28:48]So he can get both of it.
[28:51]And we need to understand that that's not possible that we can
[28:55]still get this dunya to a certain extent.
[28:57]We can try hard in this world but not in that manner.
[28:59]when we leave our religion then we've lost our hereafter and we
[29:04]have a story then meets him and then he says what says
[29:11]to him woe to you do not fear Allah to whom yours
[29:16]is your return do not fear for your do you not fear
[29:17]the the flames of the hellfire you're fighting me while you know
[29:22]who my who I am you know what my hak is leave
[29:23]these people and join me I will grant you more than you'll
[29:27]receive as a governor of rage and to be the commander of
[29:30]that army.
[29:32]Omar Assad says, "What?
[29:32]Pay attention to this." Omar says, "I fear that my house is
[29:37]going to get destroyed and my property will be confiscated." The imam
[29:40]says, "I'll build you even a better one in the next life.
[29:43]I'll guarantee you'll receive the best." But then he says, "What?
[29:48]I fear that the going to destroy everything that I built up
[29:51]my whole life for because I worked so hard for this life
[29:54]to receive this.
[29:56]If I don't follow through with it, I'm going to lose everything
[29:59]that I work towards.
[30:00]And that's why we said that imam's famous saying the love of
[30:11]this world is the source of every sin of every mistake.
[30:15]The root of every sin is because of that love for this
[30:17]world.
[30:18]When we talk about the knowledge of Allah subhana wa ta'ala, it
[30:21]helps us like we said when we're able to find the both
[30:26]the outward knowledge and we receive the inward knowledge, it stops us
[30:31]from going astray.
[30:33]It stops us from going away from the way of Allah subhana
[30:36]t and falling into this world.
[30:38]So inshallah we don't recite with your recitation.
[30:49]So Allah subhana wa ta'ala says in surah 58:1 Allah says God
[31:01]will raise in decrees among you those who believe and those who
[31:06]have been given knowledge we get we receive certain position as a
[31:10]result of So I'm stressing I've been stressing so far the importance
[31:19]of that knowledge.
[31:19]Now you might ask me the question.
[31:22]Okay, I understand everyone wants wants to receive knowledge and I want
[31:26]to receive it as well accompanied with that.
[31:30]How do I do that?
[31:29]How do I receive and as well and then we have to
[31:34]with that we have to go ahead and understand how we can
[31:38]seek it.
[31:39]When we want to seek knowledge, we there's a very great article
[31:46]that I was reading that made me find that >> there was
[31:56]a there's a scholar that wrote this on Islam and I really
[31:59]liked it.
[32:00]I wanted to bring that forth in discussion because I think it
[32:03]really applies here.
[32:03]He call he he wrote it he wrote this on the alislamic
[32:06]assertion treaties of uh knowledge.
[32:08]So the treaties of knowledge he explains how we can start to
[32:16]seek knowledge and he brings a narration he narrates this uh he
[32:20]says he's speaking to his son in our narrations we have this
[32:24]he says what oh son choose between the gatherings that you see
[32:29]to sit in if you see a group of people who remember
[32:34]God then sit with them if you're knowledgeable then your knowledge will
[32:38]benefit you and if you're arrogant They're going to teach you.
[32:43]Perhaps God, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will shade them in his mercy
[32:47]and you'll be included amongst them.
[32:48]If you see a group that do not remember God, don't sit
[32:52]with them.
[32:52]If you're knowledgeable, your knowledge will doesn't affect them.
[32:56]It doesn't benefit you there.
[32:58]And if you're arrogant, they will if you're ignorant, they'll increase your
[33:03]ignorance.
[33:04]Perhaps God will cover them from their from his punishment and you
[33:07]will be included amongst them.
[33:09]With his punishment, he's going to punish them and you're going to
[33:12]fall into their group.
[33:14]So first of all, we have to surround ourselves with people of
[33:18]the first step is to really surround yourself with the people of
[33:25]knowledge.
[33:23]If there are other people, we can be in their group and
[33:27]if our knowledge we have that knowledge, we can benefit both them
[33:30]and ourselves.
[33:31]But if we don't we learn from these people.
[33:34]So as a result we have to sit with those certain groups
[33:39]of people and knowledge is like and uh he says in that
[33:42]in this article seeking knowledge is like swimming in an ocean.
[33:45]It takes time to you have to master the waves right it's
[33:48]not simple to be able to just jump in and be able
[33:52]to swim.
[33:53]It takes time.
[33:52]Then you have to realize how you have to swim.
[33:55]But then you find your way and you're able to find your
[33:59]way to master those waves.
[34:00]But at the same time, you won't be able to swim the
[34:02]whole ocean.
[34:03]It's impossible.
[34:05]You can't swim the whole ocean, but you can benefit from what
[34:08]you're able to do.
[34:09]You're able to swim and you're able to go underneath that ocean
[34:15]to get pearls.
[34:15]When you swim, you're able to get pearls because of your ability.
[34:21]You've learned this.
[34:20]Some people they will tell you that those are just rocks.
[34:25]Some people will tell you that inward knowledge, that swimming that you
[34:30]have and that ability because that you were able to go under
[34:32]that water and get pearls, they'll tell you it's just rocks.
[34:34]They won't understand what the value of those pearls.
[34:39]So don't feel jaded by those taunts.
[34:41]People will taunt you.
[34:42]The people of ignorance will taunt you because of that.
[34:45]But you know what that value is.
[34:47]So don't be satisfied with just that surf surface level.
[34:52]You have to make sure you dive deeper.
[34:55]Go inwards reflect on what you read upon and only then are
[34:57]you able to truly understand it.
[34:59]So because of that that's one way that we can understand how
[35:03]we can begin our journey to knowledge.
[35:05]And it's not a simple journey that's going to happen at one
[35:09]time.
[35:09]Your whole life is a journey towards knowledge.
[35:13]You have to focus on spending every day for the rest of
[35:19]your life to learn.
[35:19]You have to spend every day to seek that level of knowledge
[35:25]and to focus on writing.
[35:25]A lot of us we've lost this creative ability.
[35:30]We don't write about what we learn about.
[35:34]Right?
[35:33]Some of our they they always had for example notebooks in their
[35:38]pocket or so small notebooks and a pen and when they something
[35:41]came to them they decided to write about it they would write
[35:46]it and they would have abilities to flex that creative muscle to
[35:49]write about what you think about and sometimes it's not even a
[35:53]book sometimes you're just walking and you see Allah subhana wa ta'ala's
[35:57]beautiful creation it causes you to ponder it causes you to think
[36:04]and Because of that we need to try to reflect.
[36:07]We need to try to also flex our creative muscles.
[36:10]When you are thinking about something, write it down and you'll realize
[36:15]that you have so much more things that will come from that
[36:20]original idea.
[36:19]When you then decide to reflect a little bit, it'll cause you
[36:24]to think a bit more and more and more and then you're
[36:26]able to understand.
[36:28]You you have a very concrete thought.
[36:31]So that's something that we can do to gain knowledge.
[36:34]Later on in that article, he says something else.
[36:38]He says, "Don't disregard others opinions and the research unless you've given
[36:42]it a valid opportunity.
[36:44]Often times we have to be not humble in our knowledge.
[36:48]There are certain things that we might disregard.
[36:51]We'll say that it's not worth studying." Well, you have you can't
[36:55]just reject something unless you've properly understood it.
[36:58]You have to research it.
[36:59]You have to learn from it from those people that know and
[37:03]then you can have a strong view of a certain manner.
[37:08]What's the problem today?
[37:08]Many of us we hold strong views but we don't back it.
[37:12]We don't understand.
[37:12]Someone will say okay what about this?
[37:14]And we'll say no it's not right.
[37:16]I don't think that's how that's correct.
[37:18]Why is it that's so someone told me it's not correct.
[37:24]So it's not correct.
[37:24]When we try to understand something, we have to understand it properly.
[37:30]When you're rejecting something, you understand why you reject it.
[37:34]When someone asks you why, what did I say in the first
[37:36]night?
[37:36]I said our identity is at risk because there are other worldviews
[37:40]that challenge it.
[37:42]If you're not able to understand why you believe in something, what's
[37:48]the understanding of it?
[37:48]Your structure becomes shaky.
[37:50]When you reject something yourself, your is on rejecting a certain thing.
[37:58]Why is it so?
[37:57]We have to make sure we do so.
[38:01]We have to make sure we understand all points and only then
[38:03]do we get that knowledgehammed.
[38:08]>> Can I ask everyone to just come forward?
[38:12]Please just come forward with your recitation of a second salawat.
[38:24]And that's not to be obtuse, not to accept everything as as
[38:29]it is, right?
[38:30]You have to truly understand it properly.
[38:32]You have to if you reject it, understand why.
[38:36]I'm not saying accept everyone's opinions and everyone's views.
[38:39]Learn it.
[38:40]Once you learn it and understand why it's not correct, then it'll
[38:45]help you.
[38:45]So because of this when we want to learn and receive knowledge
[38:49]we have to understand that sometimes there are nuances in things there
[38:54]are different opinions in certain things and when you learn these things
[38:57]it helps you reflect on it helps you to think about it
[39:02]on in a very academic manner uh part he says take a
[39:06]lesson from everything no matter what it is like I said try
[39:08]to write everything try to take a lesson in anything you have
[39:14]any opportunity if you don't spend a day and A day is
[39:16]wasted without you learning something or reflecting on something.
[39:18]Then you don't grow.
[39:21]You're that same person that you were yesterday.
[39:24]Right?
[39:24]A very famous saying is every day you have to find changes
[39:27]within yourself for you to really grow.
[39:29]If you're the same person you were a year ago or yesterday
[39:31]or last week, then you haven't grown spiritually.
[39:35]We have to always make sure that we always worship Allah and
[39:41]have knowledge when we worship.
[39:43]And finally the most important part is don't forget Allah in your
[39:49]journey of knowledge.
[39:48]When you have knowledge remember to have to be very sincere to
[39:52]Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[39:54]Try to always keep Allah in the picture when you're learning something.
[39:58]What do we say?
[40:03][Music] I don't see anything except I see Allah before it, within
[40:12]it and after it.
[40:15]Only then do I see this certain picture.
[40:16]So in that manner we don't we shouldn't remove our spiritual aspect.
[40:23]Pray to Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[40:26]Pray those prayers and do those wajabat.
[40:27]And with those things sometimes even you'll find yourself reflecting on those
[40:32]manners.
[40:33]So because of that that's that journey of knowledge.
[40:34]That's why we say someone who has knowledge and someone who does
[40:39]not have knowledge they're not the same.
[40:39]They're not equal.
[40:41]Allah subhana t says in the Quran.
[40:44]So we have to try to inshallah with Allah in the picture
[40:49]with Allah being first and foremost go ahead and search towards that
[40:52]knowledge.
[40:53]And inshallah if you want to begin that journey with me reciteham
[41:06]>> and we move on tonight to the ma of his family.
[41:16]Yesterday we discussed the martyrdom of Ali.
[41:20]Tonight is the night of another child in someone who hasn't even
[41:29]turned 18 yet.
[41:29]It is none other the son of Hassan akas.
[41:34]And when you drink water in these nights, remember that from this
[41:41]day onwards, from the seventh day onwards until the day of Kabala,
[41:45]there was no water that was given to the tents of Musam.
[41:50]When you drink water, sometimes it's important, especially in these nights, to
[41:55]remember those children in the tents of in the tents of Hussein,
[42:02]the ones that were screaming al that day of he recited his
[42:13]and they began to recite to pray.
[42:17]And one by one, Imm Hussein's companions, they went onto that battlefield
[42:23]and they gave their lives for Islam they all became.
[42:28]And by that time, Im Hussein, he looks towards who he has
[42:36]left.
[42:37]He has only his family.
[42:36]He has and he has he has Ali and he has and
[42:43]the companions whilst they were still alive they didn't let Im Hussein's
[42:46]family to go and fight on that battlefield they did not allow
[42:52]it so because of that those companions they were they left this
[42:56]world for that a and there at that moment we have and
[43:00]Muhammad they were keen to help their uncle they went to that
[43:06]battlefield and they never returned turn.
[43:09]Now who's next?
[43:08]We see that Kasim is there is standing there in those tents
[43:14]and he takes his permission from his mother to fight and then
[43:17]he goes to his uncle.
[43:20]His mother gives him permission.
[43:22]Imagine being a mother in that moment giving permission for your child
[43:25]to go and be martyed in that path that you won't ever
[43:28]see them again.
[43:30]He goes to his uncle and he and he asks Im Hussein
[43:36]for permission to fight.
[43:36]How can I im Hussein give his nephew permission to fight?
[43:42]He looks just like I al hass he doesn't want to go
[43:46]to the he doesn't want him this young child to fight and
[43:48]die.
[43:49]He says what Kasim you are young you are the only child
[43:56]of your motherim you are my brother's son I have promised my
[44:00]brother that I will look after you so my dearim you're the
[44:06]image of my brother you remind me of I won't let you
[44:11]go I cannot allow you to die he's very disappointed he goes
[44:17]to his mother for her help his mother reminds reminds him of
[44:21]thisawis that he his father had tied to his arm.
[44:26]So opens this and he finds inside of it a letter for
[44:28]Hussein.
[44:29]He's pleased to see his letter and he takes it to Im
[44:35]Hussein.
[44:33]Hussein reads this letter from Im Hassan.
[44:36]Brother Hussein Hussein a day will come when Islam will be saved
[44:47]by sacrifice.
[44:46]I will not be alive for that day.
[44:49]However, my son will be there.
[44:53]It is my wish that would represent me on that day.
[44:57]And when he reads it and he says, "My dearim, how can
[45:03]I stop you now?
[45:07]Go." He took to Zab.
[45:07]He says, "Z, bring me and bring me his turban." Hussein dresses
[45:12]with Hassan's and his cloak and his servant.
[45:17]Zab look at doesn't he look handsome?
[45:20]He looks just like his brother Alass.
[45:26]Tears flow down from Hussein and Zab's eyes as they remember Al
[45:32]Hassan in that very moment.
[45:33]They remember their brother Hussein.
[45:35]Then he dresses him with his uniform and he gives him his
[45:41]weapons.
[45:42]a young child, a very young child who then he looks, he
[45:45]wears these big kind of armor on himself.
[45:48]He then rides into that battlefield.
[45:50]When he tries to mount his horse and Abbas's uncle, he helps
[45:55]him to mount that horse.
[45:56]He can't do it by himself.
[45:57]And this young fighter, he rides to the battlefield.
[46:00]A rider who can't even reach those parts where you have to
[46:04]put your legs on that horse, those stirrups, those footstraps.
[46:06]But he was still ready and keen to save Islam.
[46:09]the young son of Hassan, the grandson of Ali, the one who
[46:16]was trained by Abbas.
[46:17]So, he fights gallantly on that field.
[46:20]He fought a battle that history will never forget.
[46:23]And the enemy, they can't overpower him.
[46:26]So, one of Yazid's cowardly soldiers, they come from behind him and
[46:33]they hit his head with a sword.
[46:35]And he's covered in blood in this moment.
[46:37]This is thirsty for three days.
[46:39]He can't take it anymore.
[46:40]And in that moment falls out of his horse as he calls
[46:49]out to his uncle.
[46:49]Oh uncle, come quickly.
[46:50]Help me.
[46:52]Uncle Hussein and Abbas, they both rush to the battlefield.
[46:58]Dreadful events then take place.
[46:59]The enemies of Islam, they thought that Hussein and Abbas, they're coming
[47:02]to attack them.
[47:04]So they get very scared.
[47:05]And then there's this confusion in that moment.
[47:08]The horses they run from one side to another because they think
[47:14]that Al Hussein and Abbas are coming to fight.
[47:18]And because of that, the horses with those heavy feet, they run
[47:22]over the body of Alim.
[47:26]They run over and he lies mounted on the ground.
[47:31]He's been trampled on.
[47:35]Hussein as they search for my darling where are you?
[47:40]Yeah, speak to your uncle.
[47:41]Kasim, where are you my son?
[47:42]And Kim, he can't stop.
[47:46]He cannot reply.
[47:45]He stopped breathing in that moment.
[47:49]And the enemies, they withdraw.
[47:51]What does Hussein see?
[47:52]He was not in one piece.
[47:56]The horses when they trotted on his body, they torn his body
[47:59]to pieces.
[48:02]Imagine how Hussein feels in this moment.
[48:05]his brother, the image of his brother lying into pieces on those
[48:12]on that field of Allah.
[48:13]What shall Hain do now?
[48:16]What shall he do?
[48:15]He's been torn into pieces.
[48:19]His arms and his legs are there scattered on those sands of
[48:23]so he has only one thing he can do.
[48:28]He takes his abaya off.
[48:29]He spreads it on the ground and he takes Alasum's bars and
[48:32]he puts it and he places it in his he then ties
[48:37]his abaya into a bundle and atbas he helps Hussein to carry's
[48:41]trampled body and they reach out to the camp and they cry
[48:46]help us my heart is broken I cannot I don't have the
[48:53]strength any longer to carry this body to back to the tent
[48:58]Ask to help you take back to the tent.
[49:01]And the ladies when they cry, they see it.
[49:05]They cry.
[49:10]And [Music] [Music] With these tears, connect yourself to Allah subhana wa
[49:36]ta'ala in this moment and recite Ya Allah, Ya Allah, Ya Allah,
[49:47]Ya Allah, Ya Allah, Ya, Ya, Ya, Ya Allah, we ask you
[49:52]by the h of these sacred nights, ya Allah, we ask you
[49:56]to allow these nights to bring us closer to you.
[49:57]Ya Allah, we ask you to make us one near to the
[50:02]imam of our time and make his us one of his loyal
[50:06]companions.
[50:07]Ya Allah, we ask you to accept these malis for you for
[50:11]Im Hussein.
[50:11]Ya Allah, we ask you to forgive our sins and our shortcomings.
[50:16]Ya Allah, we ask you to make this ash an internal revolution
[50:19]on our souls.
[50:22]Ya Allah, we have those who have asked from us.
[50:24]Inshallah, whatever hij that they have that they've asked for us, those
[50:30]that are sick, those that are in difficult times, ya Allah, we
[50:34]ask you to, inshallah, help them in whatever duas and haj that
[50:38]they have.
[50:40]Ya Allah, we ask you to make our parents proud of us.
[50:44]Ya Allah, we ask you to guide us to the straight path.
[50:47]Ya Allah, we ask you to make our lives the lives of
[50:53]Husseini and our deaths the deaths of Alusi.
[50:54]Ya Allah, we ask you that whoever is no matter where they
[50:59]are in the earth, Ya Allah, inshallah, help them to be able
[51:02]to be rescued from that.
[51:06]Ya Allah, we ask you to hasten the appearance of the imam
[51:09]of our time with this recitation of Dwarman.
[51:16]Allah [Music] [Music] forsh.
[51:53][Music] Anybody know how Thank you so much.
[52:42]Sorry I took so long with the water.
[52:44]>> Yeah.
[52:45]No, no.
[52:45]I had the water.
