[0:14]foreign yo me [Music] foreign foreign [Music] for the hasting of the
[2:05]awaited savior the master the prostration is the ultimate expression of servitude
[2:37]and submission toward the almighty allah and if you remember last night
[2:45]we talked about how this incredible piece of literature known as the
[2:55]visitation of the day of which was specifically passed down from none
[3:03]other than allah revealed this ziyarah to his archangel jibraeee who then
[3:13]delivered it to his messenger who then passed it on to the
[3:18]commander of the faithful who passed it on all the way down
[3:22]to imam muhammad ali in other words i mentioned that this ziara
[3:31]is considered to have a golden chain because it traces itself back
[3:39]to god himself now imagine imam whose visitation is recommended every thursday
[3:52]night at the beginning of the month at the end of the
[3:59]month every significant date it is recommended to visit imam on the
[4:06]day of arafah on the nights of destiny it is recommended to
[4:15]visit about so when it comes to visiting the imam on the
[4:20]actual day of his martyrdom the day of ashura the text of
[4:25]the visitation has to be truly special i don't want to talk
[4:35]about the merits and virtues of the ziada as i said last
[4:36]night that would take an entire 10-day series in itself but i
[4:44]do want to zoom in on the very last part of the
[4:50]zia which is for those of you who are familiar with the
[4:53]visitation is the moment when you prostrate to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[4:58]and supplicate to him the actual statements made the prayers the invocations
[5:05]the duas [Music] specifically two of them that we make during that
[5:12]prostration are of immense significance and i think that's an understatement there
[5:18]is so much hidden deep in these two gems of wisdom i
[5:23]don't know where to begin but we'll do our best we're like
[5:29]a frog or a man or a woman or some kind of
[5:36]a creature who is standing by the beach or the bank of
[5:43]a massive raging ocean or river and while there is no way
[5:52]we can completely absorb and process all of this water all of
[5:55]this wisdom all of this knowledge we can take a handful of
[6:03]it and of course we leave the rest to allah to enlighten
[6:08]us to educate us to illuminate our hearts our twelfth imam says
[6:14]in o allah forgive my what gently my ignorance you have to
[6:24]start with an acknowledgment of ignorance confess the fact that we know
[6:30]nothing we have nothing and this is why the prostration is so
[6:34]important so that ziada itself is incredibly powerful and important and insightful
[6:42]and illuminating then the very last part of it is when you
[6:48]fall down in prostration which in itself is incredibly important as we
[6:56]said imam assad is quoted to have said on numerous occasions as
[7:01]well as other members of the bait that the closest the person
[7:07]is to their lord is in the state of prostration in another
[7:14]hadith says the closest in proximity a person is to their lord
[7:21]and creator is in the state of prostration and when they are
[7:24]crying in other words if you can actually build up your focus
[7:31]your energy your emotions while reciting so that when you get to
[7:37]the last part of prostrating to allah if you can get to
[7:43]break a tear the kaduna imam says you are as close as
[7:49]you can get to receiving allah's mercy and it just doesn't get
[7:57]any better than that so prostration is special because you acknowledge that
[8:06]you're nothing that you're nobody that you have nothing i mean seriously
[8:11]brothers and sisters think about this for a moment a tiny microscopic
[8:19]semi living creature that's basically made of an rna strand and some
[8:29]proteins it brought human civilization to a standstill if you've ever felt
[8:37]for a fraction of a second proud of your achievement or even
[8:44]the collective achievements of humanity this is a good moment to reflect
[8:50]on that and to recognize that we are nothing we have nothing
[8:55]some of the strongest most powerful healthiest people that i know dying
[9:02]because of this pendant a microscopic creature that can't even be seen
[9:08]if you don't have a powerful microscope you can't even see it
[9:16]think about this it took humanity hundreds of years to develop the
[9:24]technology to refine the concepts and to bring about the proper engineering
[9:32]required to build the airline industry as we know it today how
[9:39]hard how much money had to go into this how many intelligent
[9:45]human beings had to devote their entire lives so that we could
[9:50]get to a point where the airline industry was at this level
[9:55]of proficiency efficiency profitability and connectedness so that they could allow you
[10:04]human beings to travel from one point to another and relative ease
[10:09]and comfort and with speed and yet this microscopic creature comes along
[10:12]and the entire airline industry and all the money and all the
[10:17]brains and all of the powerful politicians and governments all of it
[10:22]put together for hundreds of years working towards creating this robust system
[10:27]came crumbling down we are nothing brothers and sisters why are we
[10:34]gonna recognize that i think i have knowledge seriously have you seen
[10:44]people who get old and develop dementia and not even remember their
[10:53]spouse's name have you ever been around people who are senile and
[10:58]old enough to the point where you tell them a story and
[11:03]then two seconds later they ask you the same question again you
[11:10]can be the president of the most powerful country on earth some
[11:15]of you probably aren't old enough to remember ronald reagan ronald reagan
[11:21]is seen as being a role model for all the presidents all
[11:28]the powerful politicians across party not just in the republican party he
[11:34]was a republican but also among democrats ronald reagan led the united
[11:40]states through its golden age of power expansion military bases aircraft carriers
[11:46]nuclear arsenal you name it and yet at one point in his
[11:51]life he would look his look at his wife nancy and say
[11:55]why are people waving at me am i famous or something did
[12:01]i like did i have this job where people recognize me you
[12:08]can be the most powerful person but at some point you're going
[12:12]to remember and recognize the fact that you have nothing of your
[12:16]own and so you have to acknowledge this that's why we go
[12:28]through sicknesses and diseases and trials and tribulations and loss of money
[12:31]and loss of wealth and laws of health all these things happen
[12:37]for a reason we have hadith that state that sometimes a believer
[12:43]has to be poor has to go through poverty and financial difficult
[12:50]difficulty because the only way for god to awaken me would be
[12:59]to make me go through these difficulties and these challenges this man
[13:06]was seeking medical treatment for his kidney failure at the hospital and
[13:13]my cousin was also there she also had kidney failure she got
[13:19]a transplant very difficult very emotionally taxing physically exhausting sickness to go
[13:27]through dialysis and all that sort of stuff and so the guy
[13:30]who happened to be right next to the in the bed next
[13:36]next door he came over and he said to my uncle he
[13:38]said you know say it i never put my head my forehead
[13:44]i never put it on the ground until god took my health
[13:49]away because you think you're invincible you think you're powerful you think
[13:55]that no one can beat you no one can challenge you don't
[14:00]you just hate it when you see these extremely wealthy billionaires the
[14:05]way they walk the way they talk one of the good ones
[14:12]he was an actual billionaire he told me personally he said you
[14:19]know the problem with us billionaires is that we're surrounded by so
[14:24]many people who think that their job is to validate everything we
[14:30]say and do and he literally had about six or seven people
[14:35]each one tasked with something very specific like disturbingly specific one of
[14:43]them would carry a suitcase another would carry his phone so he's
[14:48]like his personal secretary another person was responsible for making his bookings
[14:54]so if he's alright if he's flying into a specific place there
[14:58]needs to be cars coming to pick him up he did that
[15:02]and nothing else another did this another did that maybe one does
[15:05]his back rubs one does his neck rubs god knows what and
[15:08]he acknowledged that this to me he he confessed it he said
[15:13]the people that you see running around me all the time and
[15:15]you could see the stress and anxiety that these poor people had
[15:19]because they know that they could lose their jobs at the drop
[15:26]of a hat one mistake if he gets angry or upset with
[15:29]them because his tea wasn't ready and time were because the car
[15:32]wasn't comfortable enough or because the plane was delayed by five minutes
[15:36]or whatever the case was that they could lose their livelihood because
[15:40]of it and so he said to me said you know you
[15:43]see all these people everything i say everything i do they keep
[15:49]telling me yes sir good job sir excellent choice sir so we
[15:55]of course we get arrogant because we think that we never make
[15:59]a mistake he said i'm literally quoting him verbatim we need to
[16:08]acknowledge brothers and sisters that we have nothing what is saying in
[16:15]the i i don't even think i can call it a supplication
[16:22]of arafat in the festival and that incredible spiritual text the like
[16:28]of which doesn't exist i'm not saying maybe i'm saying categorically doesn't
[16:34]exist in any other religion or faith tradition what does saying say
[16:45]mother whatever what has he found the one who's lost you and
[17:02]what has he lost the one who found you then the imam
[17:10]said you know who the true loser is he's the one who
[17:19]substitutes you with anything else substitutes allah subhanahu wa ta'ala with anything
[17:28]else i was writing something and doing some research about what they
[17:35]call secular spirituality i don't know if you've heard about the concept
[17:39]but for us as theists and people who adhere to the religion
[17:48]of islam it might be a bit of a strange ironic concept
[17:53]that the secularists and the humanists and the atheists they have tried
[18:03]to put the case forward that you don't need religion to help
[18:10]explain the universe the idea is that science explains how the universe
[18:17]works so we don't need religion we don't need god because we
[18:22]can explain some natural phenomenon which is absurd and incredibly for someone
[18:27]to say that i can explain how rain comes from the sky
[18:31]therefore i don't need god i mean how does that logic work
[18:37]but beyond that they've tried to make this case more recently however
[18:44]i've discovered that in order to provide what they feel is a
[18:49]package deal and allow human beings to comfortably and safely turn away
[18:58]from religion they've tried to hijack one of the central tenets of
[19:04]religious adherence bear with me here for just a second i know
[19:07]i'm very off a little bit but i think this is important
[19:11]they've said that science explains everything of course it doesn't exhibit a
[19:21]coronavirus but science explains a lot about the universe fine how does
[19:26]that take away the need for the creator of the universe and
[19:31]the lawmaker of all of these universal physical laws i have no
[19:36]idea it beats me then they've come and said actually not only
[19:43]does science help you live a life of comfort without god but
[19:48]science can also replace spirituality so the one central domain of religious
[19:58]adherence is that it gives you comfort it gives you spirituality it
[20:03]gives you a sense of purpose it gives you a direction in
[20:06]life it gives you a reason to live but they say no
[20:11]we can do that i can bring about something that will be
[20:20]an alternative to religious spirituality we'll call it secular spirituality okay color
[20:26]me intrigued i hear about this concept i read up on it
[20:33]and i'm like let's find out i mean maybe they're on to
[20:37]something maybe they've actually figured out a way where you can be
[20:39]like without religious belief where you could be like muslim where you
[20:45]could actually come to the point where you're willing to sacrifice your
[20:50]life not just your possessions not just your money but your very
[20:56]existence for something greater without the need for a god without the
[21:01]need to believe in the creator so it turns out you know
[21:03]what they mean by secular spirituality they say well we can get
[21:10]you to spiritually connect with the universe well how please do explain
[21:17]do elaborate you know how they do it using drugs sam harris
[21:22]wrote an entire book and they've been trying to make the case
[21:26]especially in the united states they're lobbying the government very very aggressively
[21:31]they're writing books blogs podcasts you name it even netflix series the
[21:39]idea being here that by eating and i'm not even joking about
[21:43]this you might laugh about it by eating what they call magic
[21:50]mushroom which is a hallucinogenic drug you can begin to spiritually elevate
[21:57]to a point where you can actually start to connect with other
[22:01]human beings and i'm like so your notion of spirituality is by
[22:06]drugging yourself so that you can then connect with other human beings
[22:11]but see the commander of the faithful said he told he foretold
[22:19]all of this 14 centuries ago he said [Music] they have given
[22:30]you all kinds of alternatives remember the whole alternative truth meme that
[22:36]became very popular in the united states where instead of calling a
[22:41]lie a lie you call it an alternative truth the commander of
[22:46]the faithful says that they brought alternatives to everything for every truth
[22:50]they presented an alternative falsehood and for every straight line they presented
[22:56]a bent one a skewed one and so it's not about hearing
[23:04]the argument of the other side there's always another side there's always
[23:07]an alternative there's no there's always some kind of counter argument the
[23:14]real question is which is the right side where is the truth
[23:17]where is the falsehood anyway imam hussain says what have they found
[23:24]using magic mushroom to act as an alternative to you he says
[23:37]khabib the true loser is the one who seeks an alternative to
[23:44]you oh allah and so prostration is about acknowledging that we have
[23:52]nothing that we're weak that we're vulnerable that were fragile and in
[23:58]the process when you come to that realization listen carefully by acknowledging
[24:04]that you have nothing you then have everything how imams who was
[24:16]a graduate of the school of ashora by the way became an
[24:23]imam in the afternoon of the day of ashura year 61 after
[24:29]the hijrah after the murder of his father i quoted this one
[24:39]what does the imam say he says [Music] listen to these words
[24:57]absorb them process them he says oh allah where do i find
[25:04]any goodness in other words there is nothing good within me [Applause]
[25:11]because any good would have to come from you it would have
[25:17]to originate by you you would have to guide me to what
[25:20]is good so that i could do good so that's why you
[25:23]could never thank allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and you can never be
[25:26]proud of your good deeds because any good deeds that you might
[25:41]have allah guided you to them how do i find any salvation
[26:03]when salvation can only come from you self-sufficient from you you're the
[26:55]one who guided him nor did the one who commits evil and
[27:03]angered you is ever outside the fold of your power and your
[27:10]strength but when you realize that you have nothing that is when
[27:22]you have everything because you have a loss upon all the time
[27:26]and he looks after you if you become one of those people
[27:35]who the hadiths call it allah and that's what imam hussain had
[27:39]on the day of ashura we think of the sacrifices of allah
[27:44]and we'll get to [Music] those sacrifices and try and zoom in
[27:50]as much as we humanly can just to get a sense of
[27:56]what imam and hussain actually did inshallah over these nine or eight
[28:01]nights that we have a lot of things will become clear to
[28:08]us that perhaps weren't so clear before but when we consider those
[28:14]sacrifices we're left speechless how how is it possible for the imam
[28:18]to know exactly what's going to happen to him because it was
[28:21]foretold by the messenger of god by amir al-mumani by fatima tuzara
[28:26]forget about what was saying ladies zainab knew every single detail in
[28:31]that journey how could he then go through with it how could
[28:36]he continue down that path knowing what's waiting for him part of
[28:41]it has to do with the fact the diving hussein himself says
[28:45]if you know that allah is with you allah truly fulfills his
[28:53]promise to you you look as he looks after you so i
[28:58]don't want to take too much time on this specific point the
[29:03]importance of the prostration so in the interest of time let's go
[29:09]to the actual words that you say in the frustration i talked
[29:21]a little bit about this last night but one point i want
[29:26]to refer to here is this the reason you are thanking allah
[29:31]for being in a state of affliction is because there is no
[29:39]greater state to be there is literally nothing else you can do
[29:49]one of my teachers may allah bless his soul he says that
[29:59]i looked at my actions and here's a an incredibly well-regarded scholar
[30:06]of the highest caliber a jurist a spiritual sage the like of
[30:16]whom i haven't seen and yet he's sitting there saying look let's
[30:21]not kid ourselves let's not play games i've been thinking about my
[30:28]actions and my achievements and my books and my lectures and my
[30:32]classes the many decades that i've spent in this path [Music] and
[30:36]i've come to the realization that none of the actions that i
[30:41]have performed can take me to paradise none of those actions are
[30:48]worthy of my presenting them to allah on the day of judgment
[30:56]and he says bear with me let me explain because i looked
[31:02]at those actions i examined the things that i've done and i
[31:08]came to the sobering realization that each of those had so many
[31:15]flaws and was riddled with so many holes that if listen to
[31:21]what he says he goes if my prayers don't take me to
[31:27]the fires of hell at the very least they won't take me
[31:33]to paradise that's a harlem that i can't even hope to be
[31:39]at his level and he's making this acknowledgement on the member he
[31:45]then said i thought to myself well what about imam hussain and
[31:50]my service technology and my tears for dominic was saying and my
[31:53]morning mother was saying he said well i examined that and there
[32:00]are problems to be found there too however he said one thing
[32:11]that gives me comfort and solace and hope is that despite the
[32:17]flaws the fatal flaws of my mourning for imam hussain the imam
[32:26]himself and ultimately god is generous enough to accept my flawed mourning
[32:33]for a moment in other words my actions from beginning to the
[32:41]very end including is riddled with too many fatal flaws it's worthless
[32:47]but they've made an exemption here allah has made an exemption that
[32:54]what you do for imam and hussain will be accepted irrespective of
[33:01]its flaws how do we know that multiple traditions listen carefully because
[33:09]again this is what the only thing that gives me hope i'm
[33:11]not judging any of you the imam says that whoever cries for
[33:22]hussain if you cry for the imam even if it's the size
[33:34]of the wing of a mosquito allah will forgive your sins no
[33:47]of course i'm sure there are people who are going to say
[33:52]how is that possible how does that work one tier for imam
[33:57]was saying allah subhanahu wa ta'ala giving you this much tawab and
[34:01]this one first of all god is free to do whatever he
[34:05]wants he is god after all and if god wants to be
[34:09]this generous who am i to object who are you to object
[34:16]the commander of the faithful said to this person who objected when
[34:21]the imam gave too much money to a poor beggar he said
[34:26]that's too much you could just give him a coin or two
[34:29]why give him a thousand dollars for example imam said to i'm
[34:35]the one giving it you're the one being stingy about it get
[34:38]out of my way we're being stingy that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[34:45]wants to forgive those who cry for imam was saying how dare
[34:48]i do that and there's a whole discussion about that i don't
[34:52]want to get into it right now my point is this the
[34:56]hadith says even if you pretend like you're crying why because pretending
[35:08]like you're crying is you saying ya i am nothing we've already
[35:17]established that i have nothing i'm a nobody i can't even cry
[35:24]for you but accept this from me accept this humble insignificant worthless
[35:31]gesture from me me acting like i'm in a state of mourning
[35:38]allah buys that it's a faulty product it's riddled with flaws it's
[35:45]messed up it's worthless but allah says you know what give it
[35:49]to me i'll buy it i'll buy it for a hefty price
[35:53]as well now i'm this is one of those a hadith that
[36:09]mesmerizes me because after the imam made his statement to his companion
[36:18]he then said to him i want you to write the statement
[36:24]with solid gold what did the imam say intrigue he said my
[37:03]the breath of the one who is mourning for us is a
[37:11]statement of exaltation and to speak [Music] and your sadness for our
[37:24]tragedy is an act of worship and guarding our secrets is a
[37:30]jihad a struggle in the way of allah [Applause] [Music] then we
[38:08]make these two prayers so far it was a statement [Music] the
[38:15]two prayers that we make is what i want to spend a
[38:19]little bit of time perhaps over the next two nights talking about
[38:23]insha'allah the first one i won't discuss tonight hussain oh allah grant
[38:33]me the intercession of hussain on the day where we enter upon
[38:38]you meaning the day of judgment i don't want to talk about
[38:43]this because this needs an extended session the shaft is greater than
[38:50]me trying to cram it into a lecture or two but i
[38:52]do want to mention a couple of points about the second part
[38:56]of this drama which is what very very quickly brothers and sisters
[39:17]the question of the question of steadfastness the question of remaining on
[39:26]the path is one that is so difficult so challenging you need
[39:32]divine intervention for it to work which is why you need to
[39:37]pray which is why you need to invoke the name of allah
[39:39]oh allah make me steadfast on the path of hussain hold my
[39:47]foot down i can't do it myself why can't we do it
[39:51]look at the world around you are you kidding me look at
[39:55]all the challenges look at all the desires and temptations some people
[40:01]actually most people if not all people when it comes to their
[40:08]bodily desires when it comes to lust in particular they're weak in
[40:13]fact man has been created weak that's why most intelligence agencies around
[40:27]the world they use what they call a honey trap you know
[40:30]what a hoodie trap is you send a beautiful woman to whoever
[40:33]you want and chances are if he thinks he can't get up
[40:38]he can get away with it he won't be caught that no
[40:41]one's going to get him chances are he's going to slip that's
[40:45]why it's such an effective mechanism that's why the mossad uses it
[40:50]all over the world that's why other intelligence agencies and apparatus clandestine
[40:55]agencies have used it since time immemorial since the time of maui
[41:01]all the way to our present day exhibit b jeffrey epstein and
[41:08]the things that he's done honey trap because people they slip they're
[41:14]weak when it comes to this desire then you have people who
[41:18]are weak when it comes to the desire of food they can't
[41:22]hold themselves they see a food that's delicious if they get hungry
[41:24]that's it they can't they just can't stop and investigate read the
[41:30]ingredients brother or sister put in a little bit of effort they
[41:35]can't they have to have it they fall head over heels in
[41:38]love with all of these cooking shows and cooking programs and whatnot
[41:42]when it comes to the desire of authority and power in the
[41:49]chair some people are too weak so the point i'm making here
[41:53]is that we have so many challenges around us the chances and
[41:56]the probability of us slipping and losing our way and losing the
[42:00]love of imam i can't do this myself i can't do it
[42:12]alone help me and if we wanted to start talking about the
[42:17]people who started out good and ended up bad and evil and
[42:21]ended up in the fires of hell we wouldn't finish if we
[42:25]spoke for a year think of basil but do you know what
[42:39]that means you i can almost guarantee have never seen a person
[42:43]who was was you've probably never heard of anyone in this present
[42:49]world who was muslim means every prayer you make gets answered instantaneously
[42:55]how hard do you have to work to get to the level
[42:59]where your prayers are answered he was at that level and yet
[43:05]the woman he fornicated with and committed adultery with was sick those
[43:11]of you familiar with the story will know what i'm talking about
[43:15]they brought her to this man because they knew that his prayers
[43:18]would be answered they asked him for a prayer he prayed that
[43:21]she was healed but then he ended up committing the sin of
[43:27]fornication then having realized that now i'm gonna get exposed now people
[43:34]are gonna find out i will lose my reputation he one sin
[43:35]leads to the other one ring gets pulled and the entire chain
[43:40]gets pulled and so after that first sin of fornication the next
[43:43]logical step as far as he was concerned was to kill her
[43:47]murder the woman and no one's ever gonna find out then after
[43:52]he killed her they found her body buried and they took him
[43:56]to the judge and he was sentenced to be executed he's about
[43:59]to be executed the chair's about to be pulled from his from
[44:02]underneath him the shaytan presents himself in the form of a human
[44:07]being he says that you see what i did to you you
[44:09]see how powerful i am you see only i could have done
[44:14]this to you you were muslim and look at where you are
[44:18]right now about to be executed for the murder of a woman
[44:20]you fornicated with now there's only one person who can save you
[44:24]and that's me [Music] but you have to pay the price he
[44:29]said tell me anything he said you have to prostrate before me
[44:31]take me as your god he said i can't look at me
[44:36]i'm tied up i'm about to be executed he said well close
[44:39]your eyes in a gesture that's all i want from you just
[44:41]close your eyes i'll take that as your prostration he closed his
[44:45]eyes the chair was pulled from underneath him he was executed as
[44:50]a fornicator a murderer and a catholic a satanic worshiper we could
[44:58]go on and on brothers and sisters think of the cousin of
[45:03]rasulullah how he started out being the person that fatima zarah said
[45:08]to emily that if you won't execute my will i will tell
[45:13]zobair and he will be the one to execute it unbelievable was
[45:18]the only person to have actually unsheathed the sword and fought to
[45:22]protect the house of fatima when it was ambushed by the hypocrites
[45:26]and yet this person fast forward 25 26 years ends up at
[45:33]the other side fighting and then getting killed in the process and
[45:39]ending up at the bottom of the fires of hell think of
[45:44]evan abbas also another cousin of rasulullah a cousin of ambulance i
[45:48]could go on and on and on but the good thing is
[45:53]that the opposite is also true you can start out as sinful
[46:00]as evil you can start out having a terrible legacy a past
[46:06]that you're not particularly proud of [Music] how many an evil person
[46:20]who ended up being good a very simple example he woke up
[46:28]that morning on the day of as one who was so evil
[46:31]that we would have been cursing him by name until the day
[46:36]of judgment had he not been guided by saying he was evil
[46:41]when he woke up in the morning and then in the evening
[46:46]he was late to rest as one of the compatriots of hussein
[46:50]one of the closest companions of hussain a man about whom the
[46:56]imam [Music] came from all walks of life brothers and sisters i've
[47:12]been having conversations with people lately who are so ashamed of their
[47:20]past they don't know what to do where to go and that's
[47:21]the one thing i keep telling them is listen it doesn't matter
[47:24]where you've been what matters is where you are right now what
[47:28]matters is where you're headed right and i mentioned stories like others
[47:36]the companions of imam hussain al-qaeda him by name when he's left
[47:42]destitute and without any helpers he calls out his name zuhaim started
[47:45]out as a both blamed and was at the opposite of the
[47:54]imam and the battles of safin and others and yet suhail switched
[47:59]sides over to the camp of abba abdullah hussain in fact the
[48:04]companions of imam was saying within that very short span of time
[48:07]as imam zayn al-abadine says in hamza once again these duas give
[48:14]us so much imam [Music] says that the one who's headed in
[48:25]your direction doesn't have a long distance to go if you make
[48:28]a sincere intention to turn to allah to let go of your
[48:33]past and to embrace it's a very short distance to actually reaching
[48:42]allah you don't put a veil between you and your slaves and
[48:56]unless your slaves use their evil actions to put up veil between
[49:01]them and you it gets to the point where imam zaman recites
[49:07]the ziada of the companions of imam and hussain and traditions tell
[49:12]us that when he reappears in sha allah the imam goes to
[49:17]karbala he visits the companions of imam hussain and he says the
[49:23]following he says may my parents be ransomed for you i wish
[49:35]i were there imam zaman says i wish i was there in
[49:42]karbala for i i would truly achieve victory allahu akbar so the
[49:47]opposite is also true now tonight in the remaining few minutes that
[49:53]i have i want to talk about one of those companions who
[49:57]was much more than a companion of hussein i'm talking about muslim
[50:05]muslim shared so many traits with abel number one they were both
[50:13]35 years of age listen number two both muslim and abbas were
[50:21]called brothers by imam hussain imam hussain called abbas was obviously his
[50:31]brother as for muslim he said my brother and my cousin muslim
[50:35]what else both muslim and abel for the abbas died while thirsty
[50:44]neither of them drank any water what else they both fell from
[50:50][Music] a high distance what else they both felt embarrassed toward him
[51:01]out of hussein because he wasn't able to bring water back to
[51:08]the camp as for muslim because he said i am the one
[51:11]who wrote to hussein and asked them to come to kufa what
[51:16]a great personality this was when they captured him they took him
[51:22]to the governor's mansion they say that he was gushing with blood
[51:26]from all over there was so much blood pouring out that when
[51:32]he asked for water they gave him a cup he couldn't drink
[51:36]it because every time he lifted it would be filled with his
[51:38]own blood may allah grant us the privilege of going to the
[51:48]corner of mr durkufa and touching the shrine of this incredible companion
[51:55]so they replaced the cup three times they all got filled with
[52:02]blood so he realized that he was meant to die thirsty just
[52:06]like his master abba so they brought him close to him some
[52:12]of the guards said to him greet the master meaning you bring
[52:36]me this bastard child and tell me that he is my master
[52:40]he was only 26 years old allah by the way i'm not
[52:45]saying salaam to him looked at him he said salam or no
[52:49]salam you're going to get killed today muslim said to him i
[52:55]would expect nothing else i'm translating verbatim he said i would expect
[52:59]nothing else from you because you are so evil that the only
[53:03]thing that you are capable of is murdering innocent people and i
[53:12]have prayed to god that he would make my death bring about
[53:18]my death at the hand of his most treacherous creatures and that
[53:21]is you and by the way let me tell you something that
[53:24]there were more evil people than you who killed more righteous people
[53:31]than me i'm not the first person to be killed in the
[53:33]way of allah but i would expect nothing else from someone as
[53:40]evil as you ob he then said i do have a few
[53:47]words a will that i'd like to leave behind may i do
[53:52]that the person who came forward was um he was still in
[53:57]kufa remember so muslim said can i tell you a few things
[54:01]and and have you execute my will he said sure what is
[54:04]it he said number one listen to this he said take my
[54:07]horse and my sword which these soldiers took from me i want
[54:15]you to sell them and take 700 dirhams which is the price
[54:18]of the horse and the sword and give back a debt that
[54:23]i owe to the people of kufa because when you when muslim
[54:27]came to kufa he stayed there a while and so he borrowed
[54:31]some money and now he wants to pay back his debt number
[54:39]one number two he said when they kill me i want you
[54:43]to take my body and bury it somewhere i don't want my
[54:48]body to be dragged along the streets and alleyways of kufa if
[54:53]we kill you when we kill you we will then decide what
[54:57]to do with you you don't tell us what to do subhanallah
[55:01]and number three he said what is your final will and testament
[55:04]he said i want you to write a letter to abba hussain
[55:09]tell him i asked you to come when they had given me
[55:14]their pledge of allegiance but they betrayed their allegiance don't bring your
[55:22]women don't bring your children you don't know what these men have
[55:28]in store for you which is why when news broke of the
[55:33]death of the martyrdom of muslim this is what happened imam al-hussein
[55:37]was still traveling remember imam hussain arrives in karbala he hasn't arrived
[55:42]yet he arrives there on the second day of muharram which is
[55:46]like tomorrow prior to that the imam goes through this area called
[55:50]while he was there two people approached the imam the imam said
[55:55]where have you come from they said we came from kufa and
[55:57]we have news we bear news to you would you like us
[56:02]to share the news to you here when you're surrounded by your
[56:06]family and your companions or should we go to the side so
[56:10]we can confide in you allah there are no secrets between me
[56:23]and my companions now remember imam al-hussein knew that what they wanted
[56:29]to tell him would be bad news what they were about to
[56:32]say would cause some of those people with weak hearts to abandon
[56:37]but imam hussain wants people to stay only if they are fully
[56:44]devoted to the cause the imam doesn't want half-hearted individuals joining him
[56:47]which is why on the eve of he said leave me go
[56:52]take my family they only want me they don't want you allah
[56:57]there are no secrets between me and my companions do tell them
[57:01]they said yeah we didn't leave kufa until we saw the bodies
[57:10]of muslim and ottawa being dragged along the streets and alleyways of
[57:16]kufa their heads were hanging at the gate of kufa and their
[57:20]bodies were being dragged along the streets allahu akbar imam [Music] was
[57:40]he got up and said where is the daughter of muslim remember
[57:45]muslim was married to the sister of imam hussain which makes hamidah
[57:50]his little niece habita was different from all of the other girls
[57:53]because they say that as they the caravan proceeded towards kufa the
[57:58]one who was most excited was hamida she would tell the other
[58:03]girls that we're going to meet my father when we get there
[58:05]imam hussain said where is hamidah bring her to me so they
[58:09]went and they brought this little girl to her uncle abba abdullah
[58:14]the imam sat down he had hamidah sit in his lap he
[58:21]began kissing her face he began wiping her head he began treating
[58:24]her the way he treated orphans so she looked up and said
[58:29]yeah yeah oh uncle has something happened to my father why am
[58:38]i being treated differently right here so allah abdullah consoled her and
[58:45]said that i will be your father and my daughters will be
[58:48]your sisters don't worry about anything now who's witnessing all of this
[58:56]is also witnessing the scene of abba abdullah comforting the orphan hamid
[59:04]muslim so she kept this in her heart until the day of
[59:07]when abba abdullah was bidding his family farewell at some point the
[59:13]imam noticed that one of the girls was holding the leg of
[59:16]the horse he looked that was his daughter oh sukayna what are
[59:22]you doing she said oh father i know you're going to go
[59:26]but you're not coming back i want you to come off your
[59:30]horse and do to me what you did to hamidah into muslim
[59:33]i want you to treat me the way you treat the orphans
[59:38]alighted from the horse he took he took his daughter and he
[59:44]began comforting her he said to her don't worry don't cry i
[59:48]can't bear to see you cry after i'm dead you can do
[59:53]whatever you want but not now so kaina wouldn't cry until the
[60:00]eve of that night when she saw her on zainab at the
[60:03]body that she couldn't recognize or identified she came to her aunt
[60:24]he is surrounded by arrows so she started crying and wailing they
[60:50]started whipping her and lashing her head me
