[0:00]foreign [Music] [Music] i [Laughter] [Music] [Music] for the hastening of the
[3:07]reappearance of the master the savior the avenger recite aloud muhammad we
[3:29]said that the only means of salvation in these tumultuous times in
[3:37]these challenging times amongst the innumerable difficulties threats dangers that surround us
[3:47]from every corner is to establish what our scriptural references refer to
[3:58]as maya it is to be with the bait it is fellowship
[4:06]companionship it is to be associated with them and that is the
[4:09]core of what it means to be a follower of the this
[4:18]word is repeated over and over again in our religious scriptures in
[4:24]our traditions in our devotional texts the most authentic the most authentic
[4:35]and reliable texts all refer to the same concept and as we
[4:38]said this will be the theme in sha allah the question of
[4:44]fellowship with the bait of association with them of connecting to them
[4:48]of being with them what it means what it entails inshallah so
[4:55]for example i recited a text a portion of the visitation of
[5:04]abilifast last night in which we talk about this there's also other
[5:09]references for instance in ziyarat which is by far one of the
[5:15]most authentic and reliable texts of our amongst our devotional literature a
[5:22]zyata that's been narrated in the most reliable sources and i don't
[5:27]want to get into that i don't want to be dragged down
[5:32]the rabbit hole that oftentimes our enemies our foes or even people
[5:36]who are completely ignorant of the faith would present us with making
[5:41]us go down this spiral of having to prove every single one
[5:46]of our beliefs to them even the most established ones even the
[5:49]ones that are espoused by the greatest giants of our scholarly community
[5:53]so in terms of authenticity there's no question about and in one
[6:00]place we say the following listen carefully it was passed down by
[6:18]god to jabra to the holy messenger and down the chain the
[6:21]blessed chain of prophethood and imam so i ask allah who honored
[6:34]me and what an honor it is he honored me by introducing
[6:42]me to you by allowing me to get to know you parenthetically
[6:48]i'll mention this every time allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gives us a
[6:55]blessing it is by his grace and every time we are deprived
[7:01]of a blessing it is by our own actions for example we
[7:05]have traditions that if someone tries to go to hajj but they
[7:10]are unable to do so far it is because of a sin
[7:12]that they committed that they weren't able to go to hajj i
[7:15]hear people telling me that we haven't been to hajj and last
[7:19]year when we actually wanted to go or this year when we
[7:21]wanted to go things didn't work out we need self reflection we
[7:27]need some retrospection we need to look inside of us and find
[7:32]out where we heard what mistakes we made what sins we've committed
[7:35]and i say this without judgment i'm talking about myself first and
[7:38]foremost which is why when you go to hajj insha allah those
[7:45]of you who haven't been will get to go as soon as
[7:52]possible one of the greatest blessings of hajj in addition to being
[7:56]in the sacred mosque of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and masjid al-haram
[8:00]and the kaaba to walk in the footsteps of god's greatest apostles
[8:07]prophets ibrahim alaihissalam and others is that you visit madina is that
[8:13]you visit the holy messenger of god woman the prophet says whoever
[8:19]goes to hajj but doesn't come to me then they haven't fulfilled
[8:22]their rights to me my rights haven't been fulfilled the prophet says
[8:28]so when you visit the imams there's a portion of the ziada
[8:36]where we say the following you say alhamdulillah praise be to allah
[8:40]for having given me the opportunity the privilege the honor to be
[8:44]here to visit your shrines and didn't make me among those who
[8:54]have been deprived from going who honored me by allowing me to
[9:08]be at your doorstep and also allowed me to recognize your loyal
[9:22]servants to know and to tell the difference between the truthful ones
[9:31]and the imposters the liars the conniving cheaters and those who are
[9:37]truly among the servants of the you look into the face of
[9:43]our esteemed for example and you can tell something inside of you
[9:49]says that these are godly people and you can instantly make that
[9:53]distinction between them and the people who are here to try and
[9:58]run a business and the one who gave me sustenance in the
[10:15]form of what this a saudi associating from your enemies to have
[10:22]bara from your antagonizers and your foes to reject them to refuse
[10:29]to be associating with them in any way shape or form this
[10:34]is a sustenance from allah which means it's not granted it's not
[10:42]something that everybody gets it's a sustenance you have to you have
[10:47]to ask for it you have to beg for it you have
[10:49]to be seen as worthy of receiving it not everyone gets that
[10:56]because loving the albeit is there's literally no one out there who
[11:02]gets to know the albeit says i don't love them have you
[11:08]ever met someone who says i don't love the other date which
[11:11]is why i find it comical when somebody comes to me and
[11:15]says but so and so i know he's got issues i know
[11:18]they've got problems i know that they have deviations and whatnot but
[11:22]they love the albeit i'm like who doesn't the leader of isis
[11:28]in his one and only sermon look it up in his one
[11:34]and only sermon from mosul when he announced his demonic mission in
[11:39]which he said that we have scores to settle in najaf and
[11:44]karbala that were coming for you that we won't be content with
[11:50]anything less than shedding shia blood in that same sermon he said
[11:55]i'm a saiyad i'm a descendant of ali the son of musa
[12:02]jafar the son of jaffa sadiq all the way up to amir
[12:08]al-mu'min if the leader of isis claims that he loves the other
[12:12]debate who doesn't so the litmus test of whether this person is
[12:20]worthy of being heard isn't the claim that they love the aruba
[12:25]it's what it's negating the other side of the equation it is
[12:35]to have bara from the enemies of albeit now you create balance
[12:38]now you can filter out the ones that don't fit this mold
[12:42]now you begin to understand who's worthy of being followed and who's
[12:50]not so and so has loved of the elderly this sufi mystic
[12:54]this god knows what they have the love of the bait i
[12:58]think if that's true if that's genuine love for the albeit and
[13:02]i make no judgment then that's a good step in the right
[13:05]direction that's a good start insha'allah they can build on that love
[13:10]insha allah that love will lead them to developing a disassociation from
[13:18]the enemies of the bait which often time happens we've seen people
[13:22]start out with genuine love of the eventually they get to discover
[13:29]that if you're going to truly love them then you have to
[13:32]reject their enemies you have to reject their oppressors it's one plus
[13:38]one equals two it doesn't take a rocket scientist but what it
[13:41]does is that they have to step over their egos they have
[13:45]to throw away their biases and prejudices and the brainwashing they've been
[13:49]subjected to from the moment they were born glorifying and amplifying and
[13:56]honoring the enemies of the bait it's a step in the right
[14:00]direction but it's not the whole picture it's not enough i once
[14:04]said this to a man he came to my medless and afterwards
[14:07]he came up to me and he said look i'm not a
[14:14]shia but i love the other day i told him you know
[14:16]he was from sudan i said to him the people of sudan
[14:20]are wonderful people i've had lots of friends from that country and
[14:24]i speak from experience when i tell you that i know for
[14:29]a fact that you love but there is something missing and that
[14:34]is bara'a from the enemies of the bait which is why it's
[14:40]part of a deen again it's purely logical even if you didn't
[14:43]have any scripture to that effect if you even if you didn't
[14:45]have any verses or a hadith to that effect it makes perfect
[14:51]sense you can't love both musa and now can you you can't
[14:55]love ibrahim and harun at the same time you can't love rasulullah
[14:59]and abuja all at the same time in the same breath it's
[15:04]hilarious it's comical it's nonsensical so in ziya we say i ask
[15:13]allah who introduced me to you and honored me in doing so
[15:17]now here we come to the actual prayer what is it you're
[15:22]asking what is it you're begging allah to give you in other
[15:32]words this is a big deal i've been introduced to you i
[15:36]know you i love you i love your disciples and those who
[15:43]drink from your fountain i even disassociate from your enemies but is
[15:50]that enough no it's unsustainable unless you can achieve this final part
[15:55]which is to make me with you to allow me to be
[16:02]with you in this world and the next that's one reference from
[16:08]in the same ziara at the very end you fall into prostration
[16:14]the sujud after ziyarat ashura last year my entire muharram series was
[16:21]an explanation and an exposition of the dua in the sujud of
[16:27]look it up if you want incredible statements being uttered in that
[16:36]final and perhaps most lofty part of the article oh allah thank
[16:49]you praise be to you from making me grieve the way i
[16:52]do for about the right thing allah allah make my feet plant
[17:23]my feet firmly in the path of hussain make me be with
[17:32]him allow me to be like the ones who shed their blood
[17:38]for abba abdullah on the day of ashura so that's the second
[17:41]reference the third reference is again one of the most authentic devotional
[17:48]texts in shia islam even who was extremely sensitive about reliability authenticity
[17:56]and what not when it comes to he says there's no question
[18:00]and in that we say [Music] remember last night in the art
[18:09]of us first off you say it twice i am with you
[18:15]i am with you to add emphasis not with your enemies you
[18:23]take it a step up you say i'm with you associating from
[18:33]your enemies i am with you i am with you but not
[18:38]with your enemies here you say not with anybody else which means
[18:41]who literally everybody else i am with you i am with you
[18:48]not with anybody else says don't go left and right don't waste
[19:07]your time come to us have we ever abandoned you have we
[19:14]ever turned you away honestly the hadith says that yusuf was in
[19:23]the inaudible in that dungeon in the prison where he was kept
[19:30]those two cellmates approach him each one has seen a dream they
[19:37]see this godly man they think to themselves this person must be
[19:44]holy let's ask him what these dreams mean they make no sense
[19:49]otherwise so very long story short they approach him he tells one
[19:53]of them that you're going to be released and you're going to
[19:56]become a servant of the king then he says to him he
[20:02]said now that you're leaving and you're going to end up being
[20:06]a servant in the king's court and you'll be so close to
[20:10]him you'll be able to speak to him you'll be able to
[20:11]perhaps do things for those of us who are down here rotting
[20:18]in these prisons so mention my name to your lord meaning to
[20:21]the king jibra in was dispatched instantly to go and see us
[20:30]came to him he said ya yusof why would you say that
[20:37]has god ever disappointed you allah subhana wa ta'ala says to you
[20:43]didn't i save you from your brother's wrath when they wanted to
[20:51]kill you didn't i send the caravan your way despite the fact
[20:56]that that was not a conventional route for the caravans to go
[21:01]it was so desolate no one ever went that way but i
[21:06]sent that caravan that way so that they could find you and
[21:09]save you didn't i help you from falling into the trap of
[21:16]your mistress didn't i save you here didn't i save you there
[21:20]didn't i convey all of these confer all of these favors upon
[21:26]you yusuf said yes yes he said then why would you ask
[21:30]this person to go and intercede for you to go and speak
[21:38]to the king so that maybe they could issue a pardon and
[21:41]you could be released why not ask me come to us whatever
[21:57]you need whatever you want especially knowledge especially our means of recognizing
[22:07]what we're supposed to do in this life if you're looking for
[22:12]guidance if you're looking for direction if you're looking to save yourself
[22:16]from the perils from this chaotic dangerous labyrinth this crazy maze of
[22:23]ideas and thoughts that we find all all around us come to
[22:30]us you'll be one of us don't you want to be one
[22:34]of us now i mentioned three or four references from hadith which
[22:42]talk about this togetherness i'll mention a verse from the holy quran
[22:48]and it's the verse that i crowned this modulus with at the
[22:53]very beginning what was it listen to these words very carefully oh
[22:59]you who believe god is not speaking to every human he's not
[23:04]speaking to uh you know people who follow other religious denominations perhaps
[23:11]he's addressing those who believe oh you who believe it me pious
[23:18]that's a condition of entry into paradise piety is what distinguishes the
[23:26]good from the bad piety is what reveals whether or not we
[23:30]have faith in allah or is it just lip service you've believed
[23:38]you're now miles ahead of everybody else the doubters the agnostics the
[23:45]atheists you're here now so the next step is let's try and
[23:56]unpack this a little bit piety is what someone came to the
[24:02]commander of the faithful foreign he came to him and as the
[24:23]master and the leader of the pious he said explain it to
[24:29]me what does piety actually mean what does it entail the imam
[24:32]said he gave him a beautiful example a reminder he said to
[24:39]him piety is when you are resurrected on the day of judgment
[24:44]and your deeds and your actions and every single thought every figment
[24:50]of your imagination everything that you've done in this dunya gets presented
[24:55]to the world to see that you have nothing to be ashamed
[25:03]of that's what piety means in a nutshell on the day yamato
[25:11]bless the day when all secrets are revealed i'm sitting on the
[25:19]pulpit speaking to you you don't know what's in my heart you
[25:22]don't know what i've done you don't really know who i am
[25:25]you know what you've seen and perhaps you think that you can
[25:31]construct an image that is as close to reality as possible but
[25:35]that image could be false it could be wrong in this world
[25:41]we do everything to conceal our flaws our issues when it comes
[25:46]to the physical flaws we have makeup masha'allah we try to cover
[25:52]it up and even with makeup when it gets posted the picture
[25:54]gets posted online then you apply filters and filters and filters again
[26:00]to try and project an image of absolute perfection makes us feel
[26:06]good that way right which is something that we'll leave for another
[26:10]time inshallah when it comes to our spiritual flaws we do the
[26:16]exact same thing except instead of using physical makeup cosmetics instead of
[26:21]using filters we try and conceal them through other means on the
[26:27]day of judgment we can't do that so amir mohammadin says you
[26:32]want to know whether you're really pious or not then find out
[26:36]ask yourself this question will i be ashamed of anything on judgment
[26:40]day when my actions are presented to not just my parents and
[26:45]my siblings and my family and my cousins and the tribe but
[26:49]the entire world hundreds upon hundreds of billions of people sitting there
[26:55]in a front seat row to observe what i have done piety
[27:01]is when you come across a scene a gaze that is that
[27:08]is illicit a beautiful woman an individual you're not supposed to look
[27:11]at that scene and you look away for no other reason but
[27:15]your fear of god no one's gonna find out no one will
[27:20]see you you're all alone you're in the street you're at work
[27:23]you're in school you're in university nobody's going to judge you it's
[27:28]so normal but that's piety knows the treason of the heart treason
[27:40]of the eyes and that which the heart conceals the imam says
[27:45]do you know what the treason of the eye is he said
[27:49]your peripheral vision in other words i could be looking straight but
[27:52]at the same time i can see what's happening over there if
[27:56]i try to do that allah knows it even though literally no
[28:02]one can know what i'm actually looking at because it's in my
[28:06]peripheral vision allah knows that he knows what's in my heart that
[28:10]is taqwa when i look away for the sake of allah subhana
[28:13]wa tahal and by the way we have narrations upon narrations that
[28:18]talk about the rewards that allah gives to those who refrain from
[28:22]looking at illicit haram objects or individuals for his sake allah will
[28:27]grant you a sweetness the hadith says that you will be able
[28:33]to test that beautiful nectar that's taqwa taqwa is when i have
[28:40]access to income or food or any other consumable that is haram
[28:46]but i refrain because i fear god's wrath because i know he's
[28:54]watching the hadith says it's attributed to the holy prophet if you
[28:59]avoid even one bite one penny that is haram for the sake
[29:07]of allah you will be rewarded the equivalent or perhaps more than
[29:13]two thousand units of prayer one bite what difference is it gonna
[29:18]make and yet allah subhanahu ta'ala takes this very seriously one of
[29:21]the sins and i talked about this a couple of years ago
[29:26]in muharram about the sins that led to karbala one of the
[29:32]sins that was committed on a large scale and that directly contributed
[29:36]to the massacre of abba abdullah al-hussein was the fact that your
[29:42]stomachs have been filled with illicit food you have eaten from money
[29:50]that was given to you by the oppressive tyrant king you have
[29:54]procured funds and income from illicit sources to the point where your
[30:03]hearts are blackened beyond any redemption at this point which is why
[30:08]imam al-hussein would speak to them he would address them the master
[30:15]of the youth of paradise the son of rasulullah and they would
[30:18]scream and clap and chant so they couldn't even hear what he
[30:22]had to say that's a product of eating all this this happens
[30:31]to people who have crossed too many red lines they've committed too
[30:39]many sins which is why the verse in the quran says and
[30:41]listen to this very carefully brothers and sisters especially those of us
[30:44]who think that oh at the end of the day i'm a
[30:47]shiha i'm a lover of the albeit nothing could happen to me
[30:52]i'll always be safe the verse on the holy quran says the
[31:04]eventual eventual outcome the end result of those people who committed sin
[31:12]after sin after sin after sin is at some point they will
[31:15]their sinful actions will turn into theological problems because they will need
[31:22]to somehow justify all of these sins so they'll say that all
[31:26]of this is a lie this religion is a lie what the
[31:31]scholars say is a lie will be highest they'll even begin to
[31:35]mock it as a part of a sermon of the commander of
[31:41]the faithful in which the imam says how many people started out
[31:47]as bad and they were sinful but because they were sincere and
[31:51]genuine and repented and then repented again and again but they truly
[31:58]wanted to turn around they wanted to have allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[32:05]bestow his mercy upon them eventually the imam says allah takes them
[32:10]to paradise their sincere repentance is accepted and they end up in
[32:15]paradise and how many people are there who start out as being
[32:20]good they do all these amman they perform all these charitable deeds
[32:23]their philanthropic activities they give charity they do all these good things
[32:29]and yet whether it's because of their arrogance or because of any
[32:35]other spiritual illness they end up in the fires of hell so
[32:38]there's no guarantee there's no guarantee that you can carry the love
[32:42]of the all the way to the grave not unless you have
[32:46]taqwa taqwa is to repent taqwa is to not see yourself as
[32:59]above your believing brothers and sisters that's why in this tent of
[33:05]ah everybody's equal there is no rich there is no poor there
[33:09]is no young there is no old there is no man there
[33:14]is no woman we are all servants of abba abdullah we're all
[33:20]lovers of the bait so no one should see themselves as above
[33:23]other people that is a manifestation of taqwa taqwa is to get
[33:31]off your high horse metaphorically the way jor did physically you know
[33:42]what khor did by the way when he came with the intention
[33:48]of repentance and expressing remorse for his actions he alighted from the
[33:57]back of his horse he dismounted his horse first thing he did
[34:00]you can't come to the magellanis of abba abdullah hussain wearing your
[34:06]best clothes and looking super sharp and even when it comes time
[34:15]for the expression of grief and crying we're making sure no one
[34:19]sees us because somehow crying is beneath us if you're going to
[34:23]cry for abba hussain cry like a baby let everyone see you
[34:28]who cares there is no dignity to protect there is no composure
[34:36]to maintain we're all here trying to express solidarity and empathy with
[34:43]the pain of abba hussain if my own child died would i
[34:48]care about what i was wearing to the funeral if my own
[34:53]baby was killed would i also try and cover my face so
[34:59]no one could see me would i put make up and go
[35:03]to the majlis this is saying we're talking about cry like a
[35:07]baby right dismounted his horse listen carefully to this number one number
[35:18]two he took his shoes off according to some reports he then
[35:23]tied the shoelaces together he then took those shoes and placed them
[35:28]around his neck and he walked barefoot to the camp of abba
[35:35]abdullah hussain with his head lowered all the way to the ground
[35:41]he walked barefoot that's why when you go to ziyarah till ibrahim
[35:47]this most majestic and grand of the abdullah hussain you see people
[35:55]walking barefoot i know a group of brothers and sisters that i
[35:59]met personally who go all the way from washington dc to the
[36:04]holy city of karbala indiana to her in and all the way
[36:08]they're walking with bare feet no shoes on of course you'll find
[36:15]those who say what are these superstitions where did this come from
[36:22]be civilized doesn't the quran say doesn't god say to musa take
[36:32]your shoes off this is a sacred valley the ziada of abba
[36:38]abdullah hussain is a sacred valley the shrine of hussein is a
[36:40]sacred valley hor knew exactly what he was doing when he took
[36:46]his shoes off and then you have people who subhanallah again we'll
[36:50]talk a little bit more about that as we progress throughout the
[36:56]ten nights the misconceptions the doubts using the naivete and the simple
[37:04]simplicity of these impressionable young minds to sow the seeds of doubt
[37:10]in them who said you're supposed to walk in ziara who said
[37:13]you're supposed to walk that's an innovation i actually looked this up
[37:19]there are no less than seven traditions authentic ones from the imams
[37:24]of the adult that praise walking to karbala walking to abba abdullah
[37:28]as opposed to writing traditions that distinguish between walking and writing and
[37:36]one hadith imam assad says that the one who walks to the
[37:42]shrine of hussein for every step that they take every time they
[37:47]lift a foot and every time they put the foot back on
[37:50]the ground allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gives them the reward of releasing
[37:57]from captivity one of the children of isma'il none of these practices
[38:05]are cultural brothers and sisters none of the rituals of abba abdullah
[38:09]hussain those that have been sanctioned by our grand scholars by our
[38:16]none of these have no basis they all have they're traced back
[38:23]either to the holy quran or the authentic traditions of the albeit
[38:27]what is this nonsense that we hear about year in and year
[38:33]out why is it that we find people who have no job
[38:35]no life but to try and cast doubt into the minds of
[38:40]people about the rituals what's this walking what's this crying what's this
[38:45]beating of the chest but that's what the shaytan does shaytan's devoted
[38:54]himself subhanallah there's a hadith i was going to talk about it
[38:58]in another night but i'll mention it in canada is a book
[39:05]that if you find the name of a narrator in that book
[39:10]but you don't know him because his name appears in kamen who's
[39:14]then that person receives the status of reliability in other words we
[39:20]may not know him we don't have his biography but because the
[39:22]hadith was narrated by eben uruguay then this narrator must be reliable
[39:31]right there is this hadith it's in the footnote of the book
[39:35]the student of ebonholu added it to the book but he says
[39:39]that i gave it to my teacher long story short the hadith
[39:46]says that lady zaina asked amir al-mu'min about the events of karbala
[39:52]and amir al-mu'mani narrated a hadith from the holy prophet who said
[39:58]that that day is a day where this happens and that happens
[40:03]inshaallah will mention it in detail then the holy prophet said listen
[40:06]carefully he said when the tenth day occurs shaytan will be ecstatic
[40:16]he'll be delighted he will say that i took my revenge from
[40:21]the children of adam i did the greatest thing i could have
[40:26]possibly done i had hussein massacred then shaphan doesn't stop there he
[40:33]gathers all of his cronies his posse the other members of his
[40:39]group he brings them together and he says now we've done what
[40:49]we're supposed to do from this point on this is your number
[40:51]one objective what is it cast doubt about them about the bait
[40:58]about hussain about ali about fatima about hasan cast doubt just throw
[41:06]the seeds sow the seeds far and wide and see who you
[41:11]can get so approaches imam hussain he gets off from his high
[41:23]horse he comes to the imam his head is lowered the imam
[41:27]said to him because as much as had heard the ability as
[41:37]much terror he had planted into the hearts of the children of
[41:42]rasulullah of the daughters of the holy prophet imam al-hussein is too
[41:48]great not to accept the person who approaches him with the intention
[41:53]of repentance i said last night that imam hussain is the ark
[41:57]of salvation imam hussain's made it his mission to save those who
[42:01]are drowning but we still have to extend our hands don't we
[42:06]even these charities that save drowning boats where refugees are trying to
[42:12]make it safely to shore you've seen the videos you've seen the
[42:16]programs that talk about them even then you'll notice that when they're
[42:19]about to help those people in the boats they say give me
[42:20]your hand you have to give your hand to abba you have
[42:26]to take a step towards him you have to do something you
[42:32]have to get off that high horse lower your head approach hussain
[42:36]the imam will most definitely accept you he accepted us yeah not
[42:44]only that but imam said to him hold your head high i
[42:53]know you're ashamed i know you're embarrassed i know that what you've
[43:00]done makes you feel you stand no chance and that i might
[43:06]not forgive you but raise your head high oh and when hor
[43:12]died it is narrated that imam al-hussein came to his body and
[43:16]he said what a death is this what an honorable death this
[43:23]is this is the death of prophets and messengers how generous how
[43:34]kind and loving is this man he is the manifestation of the
[43:39]names of allah he will accept anyone but you have to raise
[43:46]your hand you have to give him something to hold on to
[43:49]you have to deep down make the commitments that you're going to
[43:54]make this series this the the season these 10 nights your turning
[44:00]point in this life that is absolutely critical and with his help
[44:06]we can make it happen is intercepted by the army of there
[44:17]is so much there unfortunately we don't have time but you heard
[44:22]the brother as he narrated briefly the events that led up to
[44:29]that how imam hussain got to before he met his troops abdullah
[44:37]he told his companions that whenever we come across a pond or
[44:42]a river or a well make sure you fill up all of
[44:46]your containers so they filled up all the containers then the imam
[44:50]said don't you have any other containers any other vessels any other
[44:54]cups buckets whatever it is you have go bring them and fill
[44:59]them up so they went back they took all of these containers
[45:01]they filled them up again but it was way more than they
[45:06]needed for the road for the trip veni hussain told them the
[45:10]third time go find out if there's anything you can fill you
[45:15]can fill it with water of course the companions of imam al-hussein
[45:18]absolute submission to their master not a single one of them said
[45:23]this is too much water for us it's too hard to carry
[45:26]all of this we don't even need it they went back and
[45:30]they found any last vestige of vessel they brought it they filled
[45:33]it with water and they headed out only to be intercepted by
[45:40]a thousand men being led by al and it's there that they
[45:44]realized what imam and hussain was trying to do he said go
[45:47]and give them this water because they're thirsty the imam didn't even
[45:52]stop there he said make sure not an animal stays that is
[46:01]thirsty make sure you quench the thirst of these horses even though
[46:05]abba abdullah knew that it was these same horses which would trample
[46:09]over his body and the bodies of his children on the day
[46:14]of ashura and yet he said go make sure that every single
[46:18]one of them if they're thirsty that their thirsts are quenched one
[46:25]of the troops that was in the camp of he says that
[46:27]i was the last person to get there and i was parched
[46:31]i was almost dying of thirst as soon as imam and hussain
[46:34]saw me from a distance he hurried to me and he began
[46:41]to feed me the water with his own hands this same man
[46:45]is reported to have carried out an atrocity on the day of
[46:50]which i cannot even mention tonight but this is jose came to
[46:56]the imam he said to him i have my orders i can't
[47:01]let you go to any place that has water and i can't
[47:08]let you go to any place that has any shade imagine the
[47:15]children of abbab and hussein hearing all of this why no shade
[47:21]why are they depriving us of the water allahu akbar imam hussain
[47:28]kept going said to the imam that i can't let you go
[47:31]back i can't let you proceed i have to be with you
[47:34]until we get to a place where i receive my orders and
[47:38]we decide what to do the imam kept going again not being
[47:43]allowed to stop anywhere where there was easy access to the water
[47:46]eventually the imam gets to a place in the historical narratives of
[47:54]ashura there is a lot of details here i don't want to
[47:56]get into those they say that at some point imam al-hussein left
[47:59]early in the morning he and his camp they walked for a
[48:05]bit only to them see the horses stop abruptly they say that
[48:10]the imam changed horses ultimately the imam didn't move it's there that
[48:14]the imam said where is this place what's it called someone said
[48:20]it's called nainoa another person said it's called al adriat another person
[48:27]said this eventually one of them said it is a land known
[48:34]as karbala we seek refuge in you from pain and tribulation now
[48:49]imagine the children of abba abdullah all these women there were 84
[48:55]of them 85 of them who had accompanied of abdullah hussain seeing
[49:01]the imam say that this is a land of trial a land
[49:05]of tribulation and as if that wasn't enough they then heard the
[49:08]imam say so this is where we will all be [Music] this
[49:29]is where our blood will be shared this is where our children
[49:37]will be slaughtered this is where our women will be taken as
[49:43]captive [Music] they say that imam al-hussein when he noticed that the
[49:51]women at this point they all burst into tears they all cried
[49:53]so the imam went to them the imam started crying along with
[50:02]all of the women and the children they cried and cried some
[50:07]say maybe the reason was that imam al-hussein was trying to give
[50:10]them solace give them comfort because you know when you cry for
[50:15]a little bit that often lets off steam it makes you feel
[50:20]comfortable afterwards but there was one person who wouldn't stop crying and
[50:25]it was zayn of the daughter of fault she came to abahab
[50:31]hussain she said to him brother let me take you back to
[50:42]medina zainab knew what was going to happen [Music] this is the
[50:54]day rasulullah died [Music] i always thought i have my brother jose
[51:10]when our mother died i thought i still have my brother when
[51:16]amir always died i had you and now you're telling me that
[51:21]you're going to get killed on this world they say that [Music]
[51:26]but when you have a loving brother like that what it does
[51:33]to a sister came he put his butt his hands on the
[51:36]shoulders of his sister zainab he held his sister like so he
[51:43]said my sister [Music] and i ask you in honor of our
[51:52]mother father that you would be patient allahu akbar now at this
[51:58]point abdullah is telling everyone that they're going to die and yet
[52:03]somehow you don't want to believe it somehow you feel like maybe
[52:06]it's not going to happen maybe there is going to be a
[52:12]change in god's decree maybe we can make it especially because the
[52:15]women and the children had someone they could always look up to
[52:20]and always believe that that person would defend about to the death
[52:26]yeah [Music] hussein came back from the battlefield [Music] [Music] [Music] he
[53:00]told her our boss is
