Muawiya was to ignite the fire of an alliance to be lead by Talha, Zubayr and the Prophet's (s) widow Aisha, with the aim of bringing Imam Ali's (as) reign to an end before it even started.

[0:00][Music] ah [Music] [Music] which i wanted to begin this session with

[1:08]to show you what the khilafah truly meant to the imam and

[1:13]what the world meant and how he singled out salman who was

[1:16]someone who would bear his secrets and he who was a very

[1:21]high station of spirituality and one who rasulullah was a very special

[1:31]companion he was the governor at this time of a place called

[1:35]al-madayan very far from medina the imam before the khilafah he sends

[1:42]salman letter and he says and this is letter 68 in belarus

[1:47]he says to him salman the example of the world is like

[1:52]that of a snake which is soft to touch but whose poison

[2:00]is fatal therefore keep yourself detached from whatever appears good to you

[2:09]because of its short and temporary stay with you don't worry for

[2:13]it because of your conviction that it will leave you and that

[2:18]its circumstances are temporary when you feel most attracted to it that's

[2:22]when you should shun it most because whenever someone is assured of

[2:26]happiness in it it throws him into danger or when he feels

[2:36]secure in it the world alters his security into fear and that

[2:41]is the end of the matter the imam's outlook on the world

[2:46]is this way the world is such that it is like your

[2:49]shadow the more you chase after it the more it runs away

[2:56]from you when you walk away from it that's when it chases

[3:00]you but do not be deluded when it comes after you salman

[3:06]around this time was coming toward the end of his life and

[3:13]he was thousands of kilometers away from medina and allama imagility he

[3:23]reports in bihar anwar the events that took place in the last

[3:27]moments of salman's life as the believers were gathering around him to

[3:32]bury him and he was breathing his last breath a man came

[3:36]on a horse and they were astonished as he approached they realized

[3:43]that it was and they knew that amal is supposed to be

[3:47]in medina and they were all confused and he knew them all

[3:52]by name so he called out to them and he called out

[3:55]to the one called asbar and told him fetch me the water

[4:00]so he bought some water as the body of salman lay there

[4:04]salman had breathed his last and left this world imam ali al-islam

[4:10]began to wash his body and wrap him in a cafe which

[4:13]he brought with him and then he led the prayers and imam

[4:19]ali salaam after burying salman was going to set on his way

[4:23]in very quick fashion but this man said i grabbed onto imam

[4:27]ali alayhi islam and i was still in shock and confused i

[4:31]was just doing what he was telling me to do but i

[4:33]looked at him and i said yeah how are you here how

[4:36]did you know about this and aren't you supposed to be in

[4:40]medina the imam looked at him and said i will tell you

[4:43]how but don't tell anyone this as long as i am alive

[4:46]so the man said i will outlive you yeah he said yes

[4:51]you will live a longer life than i but this was a

[4:55]prophecy made to me from rasulullah that i will be the one

[5:01]to wash salman and i was in medina praying the fajr prayer

[5:08]and afterwards when i went to my home as i slept in

[5:12]my dream i was told that salman had breathed his lust when

[5:19]i found out allah subhanahu wa ta'ala made a way for me

[5:24]to come to this land and he made what is distant close

[5:32]the imam at this time returned back to medina on the same

[5:39]night and this is known one of the quran of imam ali

[5:42]alayhi salaam that he was able to travel this long distance in

[5:45]a very short amount of time which we saw with rasulullah as

[5:48]well when he took the barack and went from mecca to modern

[5:54]day palestine and back in the same night and this is not

[5:57]something that someone should be astonished about this is no less than

[6:04]jesus bringing the dead back to life or moses splitting the sea

[6:07]this is one of the karamat of salaam and it shows the

[6:14]position of salman and you can only imagine how imam ali felt

[6:18]when he was burying salman as he was pouring the water on

[6:23]his body what must have been running through his mind he was

[6:27]losing his companions he had lost abu dharr now at least now

[6:29]he lost salman must have remembered salman being the one who carried

[6:36]the horse which said the fatima salaam was on on his wedding

[6:42]remembering salman being the one who was in the house when it

[6:46]was attacked twenty-five years prior the one who tried to protect salifati

[6:50]malia salaam from coming out of the house salman the loyal companion

[6:57]of rasulullah and the loyal companion of imam ali had left the

[7:02]world leaving a void in the imam's heart but the mission continues

[7:05]as we know and as we discussed in the last session was

[7:12]now the even though he did not want it the people pressured

[7:16]him and forced it upon him and he saw that this was

[7:20]now his responsibility so he took it upon himself now this chaos

[7:26]that was surrounding medina imam ali now had to solve what was

[7:32]happening the main issues the people who killed uthman had to be

[7:35]brought to justice islam was carrying out his investigation because it was

[7:40]chaotic there were hundreds of people during the uprising it was not

[7:44]known exactly the person who killed him although the people who conspired

[7:47]were known the imam was gathering witnesses gathering reports investigating at the

[7:52]same time he was implementing his new principles of the islamic government

[7:58]the government of rasulullah was back much to the dislike of quraysh

[8:03]much to the dislike of those muslims who are now regarded as

[8:11]elite they did not like the fact that they were now treated

[8:15]equally the quraysh were now treated equally to everyone else arabs were

[8:20]treated equally to foreigners slaves were treated equally to their masters the

[8:27]people slowly began to conspire against imam ali very quickly and he

[8:31]knew this was going to happen he knew it and he warned

[8:39]of it but he carried on his duty anyway there were two

[8:45]main figures in this conspiring against mamali two very elite figures two

[8:50]figures who were in the shora of umar two figures who is

[8:56]first for good reason because now they were conspiring as well they

[9:01]did not like their new positions these two individuals were talha and

[9:05]zubair and yes zubair in the sure of umar zubair did vote

[9:12]for imali in fact not only this these two figures zubair and

[9:17]omar zubairafwan and talha these two figures were true companions true loyal

[9:23]companions the idea of a companion sahaba of the prophet muhammad some

[9:28]people they class sahabah as someone who had just seen rasulullah he's

[9:35]a sahabi apparently is a sahabi because he saw rasulallah seeing him

[9:40]once is enough for you to qualify as one of the sahaba

[9:42]of course this is not what we mean by companion when i

[9:47]say companion i'm talking about someone who is devoted to the prophet

[9:52]like salman someone like abu dharr these were true companions talha and

[9:56]zubair were true companions as well they were from the muhajireen they

[10:03]had been muslim in the difficult days of islam in fact if

[10:07]you look at the story of zubair then it is one that

[10:11]may keep you up at night and this by the way my

[10:14]brothers and sisters this should be enough to show you that it's

[10:16]not something surprising when suddenly someone turns bad okay no no this

[10:24]person can't be bad didn't they know that he was a bad

[10:25]person on the inside isn't he a friend how could he do

[10:31]that when we look at what happened after the prophet's death many

[10:33]people come with this kind of argument this is not a legitimate

[10:36]argument we see all throughout history and we see it with so

[10:39]many of the imams again and again and again we see with

[10:41]many imams were betrayed hey look at zubair zobair's story as i

[10:49]mentioned keeps one up at night because you have to think someone

[10:53]as loyal and true of a companion as obeyed so bear was

[10:59]the cousin of emil moment mother was the sister of abu talib

[11:04]and the sister of abdullah the father of the prophet so this

[11:07]is first cousin this is the prophet muhammad's first cousin and he

[11:12]was with them from the very beginning zubair did the hijrah zubair

[11:26]was there he saw him ali fighting abdulwad he knows all the

[11:31]hadith that the prophet said about emil mumma he was there in

[11:35]hadir in fact zubair was someone who was in the house of

[11:40]say the fatima assalam when they attacked the house when the house

[11:44]was attacked zubair was the only one to remove his sword and

[11:47]his sword was tossed out of his hands zubair was forced to

[11:54]give the ba'ah to the first khalifa zubair was loyal to emil

[11:58]mumminin one of the most loyal companions one of the most loyal

[12:03]shirins if you will zubair was in the janazah of fatima zahra

[12:08]salaam he knew where she was buried zubair was one of those

[12:12]who came to make ramali victorious so what happened in 25 years

[12:19]that he changed and his brother-in-law talha was also a loyal companion

[12:26]what happened after the surah of umar they were seen now as

[12:33]equal to imam ali they had acres of land they had much

[12:36]wealth they were treated in a very elite way by the previous

[12:46]khulafa talhah at the time was head of the treasury talhah and

[12:51]zubair were not happy with uthman in fact they saw themselves as

[12:56]more worthy to the leadership than uthman but when these problems were

[13:03]occurring and uthman was being revolted against these two conspired against uthman

[13:13]and pushed people towards the uprising against him but now they are

[13:22]realizing that they were not going to be the new leaders or

[13:25]they have any places in government they were not happy with the

[13:30]new positions when they came to speak to imali salaam about taking

[13:34]their leadership positions in kufa or in basra they came to visit

[13:39]him they wanted positions realized that they were upset they said we

[13:47]need either money from baitul mal to pay off their debts to

[13:52]pay off what they own because they are used to so much

[13:56]wealth and now they're getting the same as everyone else all the

[13:58]muslims receive the same amount so they weren't happy about that you

[14:00]know man islam told him you get like everyone else but there

[14:04]was once they came to ask him for the positions and as

[14:09]they approached him they said we have something we can speak to

[14:12]about a personal matter between you and us so the imam looked

[14:16]at them and he turned off the candle and then he lit

[14:21]another candle and said bismillah proceed so they said why did you

[14:25]just do that why did you turn off one candle and light

[14:27]the other one he told them that candle was from beethoven that

[14:32]candle is from the money of all the muslims as i deal

[14:36]with the affairs of the muslims i use that candle this candle

[14:39]is for personal matters this is not from beethoven's from my money

[14:43]and because it's from my money and you want a personal matter

[14:47]to speak to me and discuss with me about i will use

[14:52]my own candle and this was a sign for them this on

[14:56]its own was enough for them to understand they were not going

[15:00]to receive anything out of nepotism or favoritism it wasn't theirs they

[15:04]were not going to receive any positions imam ali gave his positions

[15:08]to those who are qualified for it yes you're my friends but

[15:11]why should i give these positions to my friends i give them

[15:16]to the people most qualified they were not happy and so they

[15:24]awaited the right opportunity they gave him the baha but they were

[15:28]caught in the storm as the people were in a stampede giving

[15:32]imam ali they couldn't revoke this at this time now they awaited

[15:38]their right and the right time and opportunity for them to take

[15:47]action meanwhile the others around medina were conspiring most of all in

[15:55]sham mohawiyah began his mission to remove ali from his rightful place

[16:00]and began to write letters fitna sending his letters to those who

[16:07]he saw he could manipulate sending to talhah look ali he wants

[16:13]to take the positions it's yours writing to the people around starts

[16:17]to gather all the enemies of ali together all of those from

[16:24]bani omaya were angry they wanted revenge for us man he wrote

[16:31]to marwan milhakam he wrote to ali akbar he started to gather

[16:36]them saeed gathering them gathering everyone in a movement against imam ali

[16:42]because maui wanted the leadership himself now and zubair were awaiting the

[16:50]right moment if islam started to notice what was happening he was

[16:56]continuing with his investigations but then talha and zubair as they found

[17:01]out about all the different meetings happening across the muslim lands they

[17:07]went to imam ali and they said yeah ali we want to

[17:11]leave to go towards mecca this is where everyone was going to

[17:14]meet in mecca yeah we want to go to mecca for hajj

[17:18]and the imam told him i don't want you to go because

[17:20]the imam felt what was coming and they insisted and insisted and

[17:24]so the imam told them fine you will go on one condition

[17:30]you must swear to that you will not create any fitna you

[17:36]will not try to create or mobilize any movement we must preserve

[17:43]this unity they said of course we swear to allah so he

[17:48]gave them the permission and they left but it's reported that the

[17:54]imam told ibn abbas he said i know what they're leaving for

[17:57]and then it became apparent they went to meet with the people

[18:03]who wanted to revolt against umali al-islam and here in i wanted

[18:07]in this session to read several sermons from natural balar about what's

[18:14]happening and the imam he is very specific when he speaks about

[18:19]talhah and zubair and he says in sermon 174 and in sermon

[18:33]eight in sermon 174 he receives news that talaha and zubair left

[18:38]for basra to fight him because after mecca they go towards bashar

[18:41]so he said about them he said as for me i would

[18:48]never be frightened of fighting or fear they're striking because i am

[18:54]satisfied with allah's promise of victory by allah talhah has hastened with

[19:00]a drawn sword to avenge earthman's blood this was the slogan they

[19:06]all began to use uthman we have to seek vengeance for uthman

[19:09]muawiyah in his letters to everyone told them ut man died oppressed

[19:14]we must seek vengeance for his blood ali ibn abi talib is

[19:19]protecting the killers and he's not bringing people to justice on this

[19:22]premise they want to fight amir al-mu'min on this premise they begin

[19:27]to gather to fight him because they can't come up with anything

[19:31]true so the imam says talha has drawn his sword to avenge

[19:35]uthman's blood for fear that the demand for uthman's blood be made

[19:42]against himself because the people's idea in this matter is about him

[19:45]and in fact he was the most anxious among them for his

[19:51]killing therefore he has tried to create confusion amongst the people by

[19:54]collecting forces in order to confuse the situation and create doubt in

[20:01]sermon eight when he speaks about zubair he says as for zubair

[20:04]he claims that he swore allegiance to me with his hand but

[20:09]not with his heart so he claims so he admits that he

[20:12]gave allegiance he said with his hand at the very least so

[20:15]he gave it he admitted fine as regards his claiming it otherwise

[20:19]then with his heart he should come forward with a clear argument

[20:24]for it come forward bring your proof bring your argument how can

[20:29]you go and say i gave him bayer with my hand not

[20:32]with my heart when no one forced you for this and you

[20:34]volunteered your baya the imam continues otherwise he should return to where

[20:40]from he has gone out the imam kept giving them a way

[20:45]back return come back but they did not want to because now

[20:48]there was something else in mind there was leadership in mind and

[20:55]they admit this themselves at one point they tell iran ali and

[20:59]they admit it publicly they say we do not see ali as

[21:03]more worthy for the khilafah than ourselves they said it publicly outright

[21:08]that was their true intention and this shows that there was something

[21:12]beforehand imam ali did not deserve for them to desert him so

[21:20]quickly he was still investigating people i will bring you the perpetrators

[21:26]give me some time i can't just randomly select whoever it is

[21:30]and say you murdered uthman it must be done injustice so give

[21:35]me the time there was no time they revoked their bay'ah immediately

[21:41]which goes to show that they did not want him to be

[21:46]the khalifah they wanted to be the khulafah and they said it

[21:49]themselves they did not see him as greater more worthy of it

[21:52]than they so when they were caught in the storm they gave

[21:57]their bear but zubair he meant it when he said not with

[22:01]my heart but not because he was the rightful leader because he

[22:07]wanted the khilafah for himself now you have muawiyah here gathering the

[22:12]forces let's meet in mecca you have talha and zubair going towards

[22:16]mecca there was one missing factor the key that everyone was about

[22:22]to mobilize around her name isha the daughter of the first khalifa

[22:28]the wife of rasulullah aisha was on her way to medina from

[22:36]mecca she was on away to medina and she did not want

[22:41]uthman to be the leader she was calling for the killing of

[22:43]uthman when she found out that imam ali salaam became the khalifa

[22:51]she was outraged she thought that talhah who was related to her

[22:55]and zubair who was related to her they were going to be

[22:59]prominent now she thought maybe the khalifa because talhah was the one

[23:01]who was in charge of beitul mal but he wasn't it was

[23:06]married to her younger sister and zobair is married to her older

[23:13]sister and zubair's son abdullah bin zubair was very beloved to ahaisha

[23:18]and she saw great leadership in his future now she wanted her

[23:23]family the same way with her father she wanted her family not

[23:26]to take hold of the power but ali took it and isha

[23:32]at this time decided to turn back to mecca not go towards

[23:38]medina go back to mecca as it is known and it is

[23:43]not a narrative that is she hated him this was known amongst

[23:49]everyone she is the reports are there she was very jealous of

[23:54]the attention that malia islam would get and she tried to convince

[23:58]the other wives she talked to um and told her and um

[24:04]said you can't do this aisha be careful remember remember when you

[24:09]tried to tell rasulullah that one of the nine days was supposed

[24:50]slogan uthman's blood must be avenged now aisha met with talha and

[24:56]zubair and the other leaders of the tribes and clans and they

[24:58]began to gather their soldiers and they decided to head towards basra

[25:05]which you have a right to question why basra if you want

[25:10]to avenge the killers of uthman why don't you go to medina

[25:13]why don't you go to speak to imali why don't you go

[25:16]looking for the killers there why basra till now no one can

[25:20]answer you but it's because basra is where they can gather their

[25:27]forces create the hq and take out ali nabi talib sham was

[25:29]already taken out by muawiyah it was his if bhasa gets taken

[25:35]away immanuel islam was still in the beginning of his khilafah in

[25:39]medina he's still building no they do not want to give them

[25:47]any time here they gathered their forces elite muslims the way in

[25:55]which to be able to gather thousands of warriors we are going

[26:27]the path of truth but just because someone has influence does not

[26:30]mean that they are on the path of truth that's why islam

[26:34]says don't look at men and then go to truth look at

[26:39]truth and then you will know it's men they tried to gather

[26:42]other wives as i mentioned aisha went to hafsah the daughter of

[26:44]umar but abdullah ibn umar he told his sister you can't go

[26:48]because abdullah knew this was not right and the al-islam was right

[26:54]but he himself remained in the middle many people remained in the

[26:58]middle this was a problem now there were many people that were

[27:00]confused there's a big movement happening right now but isn't ali the

[27:05]khalifa what's happening here you have ali the khalifa in madina you

[27:09]have muawiyah doing his own thing in sham and then you have

[27:15]in mecca a whole army of the greatest known muslims and the

[27:20]wife of the prophet going towards bastard it was chaos this story

[27:25]my brothers and sisters is not usually narrated because it's so controversial

[27:30]but it's a fact this is a fact this all happened insane

[27:36]i know imagine rasulullah had seen what's happening if he was alive

[27:42]looking what are you all doing why are you moving against the

[27:47]ali in this way for so long he was silent 25 years

[27:51]and now now when the people force him into the khilafah they

[28:02]gather they started to spread lies about ali propaganda to gather the

[28:06]people they would say he forced people into bay'ah they started to

[28:12]plant doubts in everyone's minds and this is a great lesson for

[28:17]us the way right now we see in the world we see

[28:19]hak and baton but the way now you have all these objective

[28:24]open-minded people right that come and say they're all the same imam

[28:31]khomeini and saddam hussein the same dictators people come they throw all

[28:37]these different new doubts into your mind they break apart your axioms

[28:42]they give you their own axioms for you to build upon they

[28:47]say hey i'm just being objective i'm just being open-minded i'm being

[28:51]truthful i'm not going to drink the kool-aid as they say this

[28:54]is where you have to be very careful my brothers and sisters

[28:56]very careful because that's exactly what was happening here you have all

[28:59]these open-minded objective apparently objective people want to stay in the middle

[29:04]but staying in the middle is a position itself how can you

[29:07]stay in the middle when there is oppression that's not fit for

[29:11]the follower of ali ibn abi talib we cannot stay in the

[29:15]middle when there's oppression or oppressed we make a stand but the

[29:18]people make you doubt till now one thousand years this doubt remained

[29:24]the propaganda remained till now now just when recently when i went

[29:30]on hajj i was in cemetery and i was doing the arrow

[29:34]of the imams and i stood there and i think the god

[29:37]knew that i was a shi'i and he started looking at me

[29:40]and i was looking at him and we began to speak and

[29:45]as we spoke you know they would say radiology about every single

[29:49]tom dick and harry which is very ironic because these people fought

[29:54]against each other so i said to him brother what do you

[29:57]think of ali ibn abi talib is he in heaven he goes

[30:02]nam janna he's in heaven like okay and his mawia in heaven

[30:05]he said nam mahalia is in heaven it's okay what about hussein

[30:12]he said he's in heaven i said okay great what about yazid

[30:20]even mohawia he said he's in heaven okay and i said yazid

[30:25]killed hussain he said yes i said okay and i've said it

[30:35]does not make sense eventually going by logic going by history it

[30:44]doesn't make sense this story is a fact when you want to

[30:50]talk about sarifa you want to talk about all the other controversial

[30:53]issues fine you want to bring this and that but here these

[30:58]people raise an army against imam ali islam the khalifa of their

[31:03]time the imam of their time not imam khalifa khalifa of their

[31:10]time there is an army against him thousands of warriors many also

[31:15]are promised power so you have propaganda you have the promise of

[31:20]money and power you have influential figures you have the seeds of

[31:24]doubt put into people's minds the way history repeats itself be so

[31:30]careful and then the army gathered around aisha and they brought forward

[31:34]a camel a glorious camel that became their flag and she rid

[31:42]on this camel and the soldiers gathered around her and they began

[31:46]to move towards basra and they sent word to medina o ali

[31:50]ibn abi talib we are moving towards basra and we challenge you

[31:56]we want to avenge the blood of us man and you are

[32:05]protecting the killers you are not going by justice and we will

[32:08]not accept this they challenged imali and they went towards basler yamalia

[32:12]islam received the word and found out he could not believe that

[32:19]this was happening now after everything and he did not want the

[32:22]khilafah he kept pleading with them don't do this we need peace

[32:28]and unity they would not accept they held up the challenge so

[32:35]the imam went to speak to his people in medina and he

[32:38]gave a sermon and i wanted to read this sermon from najal

[32:42]balar sermon 22 the imam says beware satan has certainly started instigating

[32:52]his forces and has collected his army in order that oppression may

[32:58]reach its most extreme end and evil may return to its position

[33:04]by allah they have not put a correct blame on me nor

[33:10]have they done justice between me and themselves they are demanding of

[33:15]me a right which they themselves have abandoned and the blood that

[33:21]they themselves have shed how ironic they're calling for vengeance of the

[33:25]blood that they were calling for it to be shed he said

[33:29]if i were a partner with them in it then they too

[33:32]have their share of it he's saying at the very least they

[33:35]have something to do with this with the killing of other men

[33:38]but if they did it without me which is what he's saying

[33:41]they alone have to face the consequences their biggest argument against me

[33:48]is actually against themselves it's obvious what they're doing they're raising a

[33:53]flag of falsehood blaming ibm and islam for something he has nothing

[34:00]to do with and then the imam says it's like they are

[34:03]suckling from a mother who is already dry she has nothing left

[34:07]to give and bringing into life innovation that's already dead how disappointing

[34:12]is this challenger to a battle you want to challenge me how

[34:18]disappointing who is this challenger and for what is he being responded

[34:28]to i am happy that the reasoning of allah has been exhausted

[34:31]before them and he knows all about them allah knows what's in

[34:33]their hearts he knows what's in my heart i am content now

[34:38]if they refuse to obey i will offer them the edge of

[34:42]this sword which is enough a cure of wrong and supporter of

[34:49]right see ahmadi was sick and tired he had been so patient

[34:51]all this time but now because he is the khalifa it's his

[34:56]responsibility now the people of basra are also in danger it is

[35:00]responsibility as much as he is pleading for peace he says ultimately

[35:04]if you want a challenge i will bring my sword out the

[35:06]sword that has not been raised in 25 years will emerge he

[35:13]said it's strange they send me word to proceed to fight them

[35:17]it's strange yeah he's saying this is strange they were all there

[35:21]you were there in bed you know me you know what i

[35:26]can do it's strange you're saying you want to fight me you're

[35:28]sending word to fight me i have never been frightened by fighting

[35:34]nor threatened by clashing i enjoy full certainty of belief from allah

[35:38]and i have no doubt in my faith the imam gathers the

[35:46]people and begins to organize his army as he's organizing his army

[39:59]captain the general malik al-ashtar malik enters kufa goes to abu musa

[40:06]ashari and takes over his palace and shuts him down lets the

[40:11]people choose what they want to do thousands begin to gather around

[40:15]imam and ahmad bin yasser now they have thousands of warriors some

[40:22]reports state eighteen thousand warriors still not the same amount as tallahash's

[40:29]army but an army nonetheless a powerful army and they begin to

[40:34]move to go and meet imam ali in the middle so imali

[40:38]is going with his 700 warriors and here you have 18 000

[41:53]be like the badger who just ignores sleeps they keep throwing stones

[41:57]trying to find me and then hunt me down i will not

[42:02]be like the badger that pretends to play dead he said rather

[42:06]i shall strike the deviators from truth with the help of those

[42:09]who advance towards it and i will strike the sinners and doubters

[42:12]with the help of those who listen to me and obey till

[42:16]the day of my death comes by allah i have continually been

[42:23]deprived of my right with others being given preference to me from

[42:28]the day the prophet died till today now four months after the

[42:38]bayatu amir mukminin the imam sets on his way with his army

[42:43]towards basra trying to reach there before the opposing army and even

[42:49]with all the rhetoric the challenging of the other army against him

[42:55]and him replying with a firm reply he kept telling them don't

[42:59]do this we don't want war letter after letter negotiation after negotiation

[43:03]and he told his army a level we want isla we want

[43:13]peace we want to bring solace to our people we do not

[43:17]want to fight with our own people imam ali alayhi islam did

[43:21]all that he could to avoid this fighting now the opposing army

[43:30]aisha and zubair and the army reach basra before the imam and

[43:34]when they reach basra the governor in basra sends a letter to

[43:38]imam ali he was a loyal companion of the imam uthman ibn

[43:41]hanif uthman sends to the imam he said they're here what shall

[43:45]i do and there were people inside basra that were going to

[43:49]adaisha and her army and people who were loyal to imam ali

[43:51]al-islam so tensions were very high imami responded do not fight them

[43:58]do not throw the first arrow as much as you can talk

[44:01]to them stall till i get there do not fight do not

[44:07]begin so this was the order taken even though the imam he

[44:09]had police he had governors he had everyone there in basra here

[44:12]people began to try to negotiate with this army and the man

[44:49]ali hiding his killers why won't he avenge the blood why won't

[44:53]he bring the perpetrators to justice now they came into the city

[44:58]supposedly in peace for a few days it seemed that way until

[45:01]in one night they went berserk the army took over and conquered

[45:06]the city and even killed several men in the masjid of basra

[45:11]there are 600 to 1 000 people who were killed in this

[45:16]tragedy of a night they took over the town they took the

[45:22]money from baitul man they took over everything and then they grabbed

[46:34]letter to basra don't do this hold down your arms do not

[46:49]war he sent a letter he even told the people who are

[46:54]going to send the message to focus on zubair more than talaha

[46:57]because zubair he says zubair he knows me zubair he said you

[49:04]with false claims then may this pleasure of allah be upon you

[49:07]they said no we don't accept them this is because you are

[49:14]not more worthy for the khilafah than us they came out and

[49:17]said it publicly now they owned up now the intention was clear

[49:23]this is not about uthman this is about leadership this is about

[49:26]power this is about the chair this is about who rules they

[49:33]go back to their camp the imam returns to his camp but

[49:37]this time the imam asks to see zubair alone he calls for

[49:42]zubair sobel comes out alone the imam goes and speaks to him

[49:45]he says my cousin my brother don't you remember when we were

[49:52]young don't you remember all those times we stayed up together we

[49:59]protected rasulullah together and he says i remember he says then why

[53:33]of number it's not numerical because it's infinite because allah has no

[53:37]limit he is one not that there are no partners with him

[53:40]there is nothing else allah is all of existence allah's subhanallah is

[53:49]infinite and anything aside from him has no true hak reality like

[53:58]his nothing does and it's so important that he gave this sermon

[54:01]and gave this explanation in the midst of the battlefield he took

[54:05]this idea of the theoretical idea that people speak about all the

[54:13]time and brought it to our plane and basically ignored thousands of

[54:16]soldiers thirsty for his blood and told this man that these soldiers

[54:22]basically are not important because because they have no might and no

[54:29]power like there is no power no might except allah subhanahu wa

[54:34]he's telling him that ultimately nothing else deserves your attention in truth

[54:42]and this is why the imam says even if my enemies were

[54:48]a number which would fill the entire earth i would never i

[54:54]would never feel scared i would never feel lonely i would not

[54:58]worry then the imam after explaining to this arab this esoteric answer

[55:06]he comes and gathers his soldiers and still he's trying for peace

[55:10]but he calls out to them he says brothers which one of

[55:16]you will volunteer to take the quran and stand in front of

[55:19]the army and remind them of the word of allah so that

[55:24]we may come back and unify but i warn you if anyone

[55:33]goes to stand in front of the army then he will not

[55:40]come back he will most likely definitely be killed a young man

[55:44]stands up he says amid menin i want to i want to

[55:48]go the imam sees him as a young man he asks someone

[55:52]else but this man is adamant and subhanallah i am reminded of

[55:56]amir mu'min when he kept standing to fight ammar in abdul with

[56:05]the imam looks at him in the eye and sends his soldier

[56:11]outside the young man he goes towards the army stands in front

[56:13]of them and said o muslims let us look to the book

[56:30]the arrows rain down upon the young man and he collapses onto

[57:15]unity amongst muslims but now my soldiers must defend themselves grant me

[57:21]victory or grant me martyrdom and then he came to assemble his

[57:26]forces malik gather your forces each one captaining different battalions hassan hussain

[57:35]stay with me then he looks at his son muhammad and he

[57:40]takes the flag and he hands him the flag says my son

[57:43]you will take the flag of rasulallah today this is a blessing

[57:47]and an honor this is the flag of rasulallah do not sleep

[57:50]when you hold it stand in front and charge when i tell

[57:57]the imam to tell muhammad move forward the imam said now move

[58:17]the mountains may move from their place but you don't move from

[67:22]rasulullah gave him that initiation the thousand gates of knowledge each date

[67:28]has a thousand gates a million sciences is when ahmadi can look

[68:28]people he sits on the member and he gives a sermon to

[68:30]the people of basra those who are fighting against him and he

[68:35]says to them you followed a beast when it called you you

[68:41]obeyed and when it was defeated you fled and this sermon is

[68:48]a lesson for all of us how many beasts do we follow

[68:55]in our lives how many of us have become beasts how many

[68:57]of us obey our beasts or beasts of the outside world how

[69:02]many of us flee when they die what will we do with

[69:11]the beast within we learn how to interact with our inner enemy

[69:17]and our outer enemy through the ethics piety and certainty strength through

[69:27]brothers iman and victory on the path of allah we learn from
