[0:03]Alhamdulillah.
[0:17]Respected brothers and sisters, one of the most fascinating and spooky creation
[0:38]of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is the jin.
[0:43]The jin is a topic that is very controversial.
[0:49]You'll find people will have so many opinions and views about this
[0:55]and you hear [clears throat] so many strange stories about this mysterious
[1:00]creation of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and generally you find people on
[1:09]both ends of the spectrum.
[1:09]There are those who completely deny the existence of jin.
[1:16]They will tell you that this is all a myth.
[1:19]This is nonsense.
[1:22]And thus they don't believe in a creation called jin.
[1:27]This is from the ancient times superstitious beliefs.
[1:31]And thus they will completely deny the existence of jin.
[1:35]So there are people that go to that extreme.
[1:38]And then you have others who go to the other extreme in
[1:44]that not only do they believe in jin they exist but they
[1:51]give much more relevance to jin than the jun should have.
[1:53]They give the jun so much powers as if they control everything
[2:01]and they can control us and many things in their lives they
[2:04]try to interpret them through the lens of jin.
[2:08]Why is my marriage not going very well?
[2:11]There must be a jin that is possessing possessing me or doing
[2:15]something evil.
[2:17]Why, for example, did I fail that test?
[2:20]It must be a jin.
[2:20]Why, for example, do I have [clears throat] this sickness?
[2:26]Why is the business not doing well?
[2:28]Whatever it could be, why did my favorite football team lose the
[2:33]game?
[2:33]It must be some jin.
[2:33]So they give jin this creation huge relevance and role in their
[2:43]lives.
[2:42]So you find people on both of these spectrums.
[2:46]But when you look at Islam, Islam gives you a much more
[2:55]balanced understanding and view of the gym.
[2:56]Let's read the Quran, brothers and sisters, today.
[2:59]Far from gossip and speculation.
[3:01]We don't want to mention what our grandmothers told us and what
[3:05]some strange person wrote on social media.
[3:08]Let's go back to the Quran and the and the authentic traditions
[3:17]of the B and let's see what they said about this mysterious
[3:22]creation of jin.
[3:24]Now the jin is mentioned in the holy Quran over 30 times.
[3:32]So the Quran is filled with ideas and notions and stories about
[3:39]the jin.
[3:39]There's a whole surah in the Quran chapter 72 called surahul jin.
[3:47]So jin is a reality that we cannot deny if we believe
[3:52]in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[3:52]We believe jin is from the world of the unseen just like
[3:58]we believe in angels.
[3:58]They are a creation of Allah that we cannot see.
[4:03]We believe in angels.
[4:03]Correct?
[4:03]Every human being has a two angels recording their deeds.
[4:08]We believe in millions or billions of angels.
[4:11]Is angels everywhere.
[4:13]But can we see them?
[4:14]No, we cannot see them.
[4:17]But we believe in angels because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala informs us
[4:21]in the Quran that angels are real but they are from the
[4:24]unseen from likewise this creation the jin is from meaning we cannot
[4:35]see them they have been hidden from our eyes.
[4:39]So what do we know about the jin when we read the
[4:46]Quran?
[4:44]Number one, the jin is a creation that preceded human beings.
[4:52]Before Allah created human beings and our grandfather Adam, there used to
[4:56]be a jin.
[4:58]They were created much before us, maybe thousands or millions of years
[5:01]before human beings.
[5:03]And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in the Quran tells us the story
[5:09]of how he wanted to create Adam.
[5:13]He wanted to create a new species.
[5:14]And surah I want to create someone representing me from a new
[5:24]race, a new species, the human beings.
[5:27]The angels objected to Allah.
[5:29]But why?
[5:30]They said, "Ya Allah, why would you create a being that will
[5:37]cause corruption and will disobey you?" Now, why did they say that?
[5:44]They said that according to our traditions, Imam Ali Alisam speaks about
[5:48]this in one hadith because they compared the human being to the
[5:51]jin.
[5:52]They had already seen the jin.
[5:53]The jin they would disbelieve in Allah.
[5:56]They would commit sins.
[5:58]They would commit crimes.
[5:59]They would commit every type of haram and injustice.
[6:03]So now Allah is creating another species similar to the jin.
[6:08]Why?
[6:12]Well, all we do is we praise you.
[6:16]All we do is glorify you angels.
[6:18]So why not create your representative your Khalifa from the angels?
[6:22]Why from a species that can commit evil?
[6:25]So they had this image that the jin because they committed so
[6:29]much evil then the human beings will do the same.
[6:33]Allah told them I know that this human being will be different.
[6:37]I know what you don't know.
[6:38]And our traditions state that it was Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala's love
[6:44]for Muhammad and al Muhammad that from the progeny of Adam will
[6:48]come the greatest human beings.
[6:49][snorts] So the jin already knew about the angels knew about the
[6:55]jin that preceded them.
[6:57]So this is one point that we understand about the jin that
[7:02]they are a creation living amongst us today but they preceded us.
[7:07]Number two, the Quran says that while Adam, the father of human
[7:12]beings or all human beings were created from clay or dust to
[7:20]this creation which is called the jin was created from fire.
[7:27]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in the Quran uses two terms and basically
[7:39]what that means is scorching fire that is pure that is almost
[7:45]invisible that's how pure it is sometimes you see fire becomes so
[7:51]pure that you can't even see it so Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[7:57]says this in the Quran on where Allah says that John.
[8:11]What's the difference between John and Jin?
[8:14]Anyone?
[8:12]Anybody know?
[8:15]What's the difference between Jan and Jin?
[8:19]Same thing synonyms.
[8:21]No.
[8:22]Singular of Jin is jini.
[8:26]Jin is the plural form.
[8:27]The singular form is jini.
[8:28]So what's jan then?
[8:32]So we have jin like for example ins the plural of human
[8:37]and then you have insan which is one human being and one
[8:41]jin would be jini.
[8:44]So what's j then?
[8:44]These verses Allah says the jan I created the jan from scorching
[8:52]fire pure invisible fire subtle fire.
[8:54]No, the John according to the hadith was the first jin that
[9:02]Allah created.
[9:04]It's the atom of jin.
[9:04]Just like how Allah created human beings through Adam.
[9:09]So he created Adam, we say from clay, he created the father
[9:12]of all jin and his name was John or he was referred
[9:18]to as John.
[9:20]So the jin according to the holy Quran was created from fire
[9:25]and that's why scholars state that the nature of the jin is
[9:30]different than the nature of human beings.
[9:32]Human beings were dense, right?
[9:35]You can't go through a wall.
[9:37]Correct?
[9:38]Why?
[9:39]It's because you're made of clay.
[9:43]You're made of dust.
[9:43]It's dense.
[9:46]While the jin their nature is reflected by fire.
[9:54]Fire is subtle.
[9:53]Can you grab on fire?
[9:56]No.
[9:55]Fire sometimes is invisible.
[9:58]You can't even see it.
[9:59]It's very subtle.
[10:01]It's very fast.
[10:00]And this is how jin are.
[10:05]They're very fast.
[10:04]They're invisible.
[10:05]You can't see them.
[10:07]They're very subtle.
[10:07]Basically, they're not dense.
[10:11]Like like a gas-like figure.
[10:12]Exactly what they are, we don't know.
[10:15]But they're different from the human being because their source is different.
[10:20]One is fire, one is made from clay.
[10:22]And the shan by the way he used this because the shaitan
[10:24]is a jin.
[10:26]Satan is a jin.
[10:28]The holy Quran clearly says in one verse that he is from
[10:30]the jin but he was with the angels.
[10:33]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gave him the opportunity to spend time with
[10:40]the angels in heaven until he decided to defy Allah's order.
[10:44]When Allah told him do sujud to Adam, the first human being,
[10:46]what did he say?
[10:49]He said no, I'm better.
[10:49]Why am I better?
[10:52]He went back to the origin.
[10:52]He said you created me from fire while you created this new
[11:00]being from clay and fire is superior to clay.
[11:04]And thus he refrained from doing sujud to Adam.
[11:05]Allah told him, you have to submit to me.
[11:09]You want to be in heaven.
[11:11]You cannot be arrogant and use your own judgment.
[11:12]Allah banished him, kicked him out of paradise.
[11:16]So this is number two, the jin is made of fire.
[11:22]Number three, in the same way that we human beings have free
[11:26]will, we can do good, we can do bad.
[11:30]We can believe, we can disbelieve.
[11:32]This is what free will is all about.
[11:34]Angels don't have free will.
[11:36]All of them are good because Allah hasn't given them desires.
[11:43]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala hasn't allowed them to commit sins.
[11:46]So that's why they're always obedient to Allah.
[11:50]What about jin?
[11:53]Are they similar to angels or human beings?
[11:56]The jin are similar to human beings.
[11:59]Meaning Allah also gave them free will.
[12:02]And through that free will they can believe, they can disbelieve.
[12:07]They can hurt others.
[12:08]They can be peaceful.
[12:11]They can disobey Allah.
[12:12]they can obey.
[12:15]And Allah mentions this in the holy Quran.
[12:15]Allah quotes the jin in amongst us are the those that submit
[12:29]to Allah and amongst us are those that are unjust.
[12:30]So just like you have good human beings and bad human beings,
[12:36]you have good jin and evil jin.
[12:38]Now there's aith I saw from Abass which is most likely because
[12:47]and both share this title but this hadith is most likely from
[12:55]Alam in the book of where one of the companions of the
[12:57]seventh Imam asked him about the jin.
[13:01]The Imam told him there's good jin, there's bad jin, there's jin
[13:07]that follow us just like there's jin that are against us.
[13:10]So similar to the human beings, same thing.
[13:13]You had people that killed you, you had individuals like Muawi and
[13:17]Yazid and so on and so forth.
[13:21]And you had people that were pious that loved.
[13:23]The Imam told him the same thing.
[13:27]And then the IM said something remarkable.
[13:27]He said that the jin in general they are more obedient to
[13:37]us let's say the are more obedient to us than you human
[13:42]beings the human beings yes they profess their love for they declare
[13:51]that they love Im Ali they will attend some malis remember We
[13:57]always mention the sword of Im Ali Alisam.
[14:00]But when it comes to obeying the teachings of B, many Shia
[14:08]unfortunately fall short.
[14:07]The Imam tells him that the jin in comparison to you human
[14:14]beings are more obedient.
[14:15]So this is something that the imam mentions about them.
[14:22]Now unfortunately one evil jin has completely ruined the reputation of these
[14:28]creatures and that is the shaitan.
[14:31]The shaitanl was a jin.
[14:35]He was from that creation and we know the shaitan is evil
[14:38]and he vowed to misguide every human being that he can in
[14:45]this life.
[14:46][snorts] But does that mean every jin is a shaitan and every
[14:49]jin is evil?
[14:51]No.
[14:51]Like we said, there's good jin, there's evil jin.
[14:53]The shaitan is evil.
[14:57]And the offspring of the shaitan are evil.
[15:01]Just like how Adam had offspring, the shaitanl had offsprings, children.
[15:06]His children majority if not all of them are evil.
[15:11]And what they do is they are all trying to serve this
[15:17]agenda and mission of their father their grandfatherl misguiding human beings.
[15:23]In fact, there's a hadith from one of the imams where he
[15:27]says that Allah subhana wa ta'ala told Adam when he created him
[15:31]that for every human being that is born from your offspring the
[15:37]shan will also have a jin born from his offspring and that
[15:44]jin that shan will be designated to that new human being.
[15:49]He's your private personal shaitan.
[15:51]I have a newborn, the Shayan will have a newborn as well.
[15:57]That newborn Shayan's job is just to misguide this newborn human being.
[16:00]So if there's eight billion human beings, you know that there are
[16:04]at least 8 billion offspring of the Shayan.
[16:08]They are all jin.
[16:08]But that doesn't mean that all the jin are bad.
[16:12]There's many jin that are not related to the shaitan.
[16:15]They're not from his offspring.
[16:17]There's good jin, bad jin.
[16:19]Now the holy Quran speaks about what the jin did and how
[16:29]they reacted when Allah sent as a messenger.
[16:32]Because we know our prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi Muhammad when he was
[16:41]sent as a messenger he wasn't just sent to human beings.
[16:46]He was sent to human beings and the jin.
[16:51]This is what where you see the Quran calls.
[16:52]Means what?
[16:54]Means the human beings and the jin.
[17:00]So the prophets of Allah are sent to both human beings and
[17:03]to gins.
[17:05]When Allah sent Allah to human beings, the majority of human beings
[17:14]disbelieve people of Quraysh.
[17:14]years and years Allah would invite people to Islam but they disbelieved
[17:18]barely anyone believed in rasool Allah in Mecca in those 13 years
[17:23]maybe less than 50 people altogether this is from the human race
[17:30]but from the jin it's a different story and Allah subhanahu wa
[17:33]ta'ala speaks about this in the Quran how the jin reacted to
[17:41]Allah being sent as a messenger jin Verse one, Allah subhana wa
[17:47]ta'ala says this.
[17:58]The prophet says that Allah has revealed to me that some of
[18:04]the jin listen to the Quran just like the Arabs would listen
[18:08]to the Quran but then they would disbelieve.
[18:11]The jin also listened to the Quran and they said that we
[18:22]have heard an amazing Quran.
[18:25]So they were amazed at the verses at the eloquence at the
[18:28]knowledge at the wisdom of the Quran and the Quran guides us
[18:37]to good guides us to the right course.
[18:40]So what did they do?
[18:43]So we believed in the Quran.
[18:48]We believed in Allah.
[18:47]While the people of Allah disbelieved in him, the jin who's from
[18:52]another creation, the Quran says they believed in Allah.
[18:58]Not all of them, but it seems like a big group of
[19:03]jin, they believed in.
[19:06]And when Rasool Allah was sent as a messenger, our traditions tell
[19:11]us that the jin, they knew something had happened in this duny.
[19:16]Something had happened in this duny and in the skies.
[19:17]Why?
[19:18]Because the jin, it seems either all of them or many of
[19:24]them, they can fly.
[19:25]It's they're not like human beings.
[19:29]And they would roam in the skies.
[19:31]You know, we have the seven skies.
[19:35]So whatever that the interpretation of the seven skies are, the traditions
[19:40]tell us that they would freely roam in the samawat until they
[19:45]would reach close to heaven.
[19:46]And what would they do roaming in those samawat?
[19:50]They would easedrop on the angels.
[19:54]They would listen to the conversations of the angels and the skies
[19:58]and they would sometimes receive news of what will happen in the
[20:04]future from the angels.
[20:07]They would come to the dunya and they would give it to
[20:09]some human beings.
[20:11]They would bring them news.
[20:12]Obviously that's how sorcerers and whatnot started.
[20:16]And then mostly it was used in a in a negative way
[20:20]in a in a harmful way.
[20:21]So they would roam around.
[20:22]The hadith says when Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala sent prophet Isa Allah
[20:31]banned them from going beyond the third s the third sky.
[20:33]So only the first three.
[20:36]So now they had less information.
[20:38]But all of a sudden when Allah was either was born, some
[20:41]hadith say when he was born, other hadith state when he was
[20:46]sent as a messenger, they were completely banned from going in the
[20:50]skies and listening to the angels.
[20:51]Now they notice when they go to the skies, what do they
[20:58]hear?
[20:56]They hear these this is just noise.
[21:02]this like this distracting noise and they would see meteors and comets
[21:06]rushing at them.
[21:06]So they had to run away.
[21:09]So Allah subhana wa ta'ala prevented them from going into the skies.
[21:13]Allah mentions this inah.
[21:15]Go to a few verses after that.
[21:19]We tried to go to the to the skies.
[21:26]We noticed that now there's guards, there's meteors, there's comets.
[21:32]We can't go and freely wander.
[21:37]Allah restricted their movement.
[21:36]The jin and we used to go and just listen ease drop.
[21:44]Whoever goes to easedrop now now a meteor a comet will come
[21:53]after them and force them to leave to come down to the
[21:58]dunya.
[21:57]So many of the jin when they found out something had happened
[22:03]they started searching and they eventually found out that this man in
[22:09]Mecca Muhammad is inviting people to a new religion.
[22:11]So they would come and listen to the Quran and many of
[22:17]them believed in the Quran.
[22:19]In another verse chapter 46, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says Allah says
[22:27]that a group of they came to Mecca to listen to the
[22:32]Quran.
[22:36]They came just to listen to the Quran.
[22:42]When they came and they saw they listened to the Quran they
[22:47]said be quiet stay quiet let's listen to the Quran so they
[22:53]were amazed at the Quran they were very interested in learning the
[22:57]Quran once they listened and finished not only did they believe but
[23:07]the Quran says they went back to their people the other jin
[23:10]warning them preaching to them, telling them of Allah.
[23:13]So this group they act as they acted as ambassadors for Islam.
[23:20]They would go to their people to their tribes wherever they lived
[23:25]and they would tell them look we heard the Quran we heard
[23:28]the message of Allah subhana wa tala throughasool Allah let's believe inasool
[23:31]Allah and many of the gin started believing in rasool Allah.
[23:36]So when you read the Quran, you find that the overall tone
[23:44]about the jin is that many of them were good.
[23:48]Many of them believed in Allah versus when you see Allah speaking
[23:52]about human beings, Allah condemns them most of the time.
[23:53]Most of them meaning the human beings are ignorant.
[23:57]Most of them are unjust.
[23:58]Most of them didn't believe.
[23:59]Most of them defied the orders of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[24:03]So I know they have this evil reputation thanks to the shaitan
[24:08]and his offspring.
[24:10]But if you put the shaitan and his offspring aside, the jin,
[24:14]it seems like the majority or a lot of them are good
[24:19]and they believed in Allah.
[24:20]And there's a hadith that speaks about this verse that I mentioned.
[24:29]how a group of jin went to listen to the Quran and
[24:32]then they came back to tell others.
[24:35]The hadith says that when the prophet went he had to leave
[24:44]Mecca after his his uncle Abu Talib died he was his greatest
[24:47]supporter.
[24:47]When he died he had to leave Mecca.
[24:50]He had no more supporters and the people of mostly disbelieved.
[24:55]He went to he tried another city.
[24:58]It's about I don't know maybe 90 100 some kilometers from Mecca.
[25:02]He said let me try to at least invite the people of
[25:05]he went with a companion by the name of and also no
[25:11]one believed in him.
[25:14]They mocked him.
[25:13]They even injured him.
[25:16]Allah was very frustrated.
[25:16]He started to make dua to Allah.
[25:18]He started to complain to Allah.
[25:20]Ya Allah everywhere I go nobody wants to believe.
[25:23]So on his way back to Mecca, the prophet came across an
[25:30]area called Wadil Jin.
[25:31]I think it's still on the map if you you Google it.
[25:35]The valley of the Jin.
[25:36]So why is it called the Valley of the Jin?
[25:38]I don't know.
[25:39]You can go and find out and let us know if you
[25:42]do come back safely.
[25:43]It was late at night while was passing through Wad Jin.
[25:50]He stationed there and started reciting Quran.
[25:56]So a group of jen that the Quran speaks about they they
[26:02]were in that area they started listening to the verses of the
[26:05]Quran.
[26:06]This is when they said be quiet listen let's listen to these
[26:12]verses.
[26:10]What are they?
[26:13]They listened to the Quran and they fell in love with the
[26:20]Quran.
[26:18]So they believed in Allah, they believed in the Quran and then
[26:24]they went back to their people whoever their jin people are and
[26:27]they believed in them.
[26:30]So Islam is a universal religion meaning not just for human beings
[26:34]even for the jin even the jin Allah sent to them and
[26:40]many believed in him.
[26:39]And likewise the imams of they're not just imams that Allah subhanahu
[26:45]wa ta'ala chose to guide human beings also the jin.
[26:52]Many narrations that speak about Im Ali and his interactions with some
[26:56]of the jin and how they believed in Imam Ali and some
[26:58]disbelieved in him just like human beings.
[27:00]Alm Hussein when he was going to Kbalah many human beings many
[27:09]people started joining the movement of Imam Hussein some of them left
[27:13]some of them stayed in the end there was less than a
[27:18]hundred there's a hadith that she mued narrates from imam sheikh mu
[27:24]says that groups of jin they came to IM Hussein they loved
[27:30]Im Husseinam They came to im Hussein and they pledged their loyalty
[27:38]to Aba Abdah and they told them yeah Abdah were thousands or
[27:41]very big number and we will support you and defend you you
[27:47]don't even have to fight whoever Yazid sends whoever Iben Zad sends
[27:52]we the jin we will protect you we will fight for you
[27:55]and the jin obviously we'll get to this the next point human
[28:00]beings can't see Jin.
[28:01]They're invisible.
[28:02]So obviously it'll be very easy for us to defeat the enemies.
[28:06]But the hadith says of that Hussein thanked them but he told
[28:13]them no I cannot accept this for I have submitted to the
[28:18]will of Allah.
[28:17]Allah has written shahada for me.
[28:19]I have submitted and it's not fair.
[28:23]It's kind of like using a miracle.
[28:26]Im Hussein didn't want.
[28:25]If IM Hussein wanted to prevail, he could have asked Allah to
[28:29]bring down angels.
[28:31]Imm Hussein knew that he had to be a Shahid.
[28:35]So he told them, "No, I want things to unfold naturally instead
[28:38]of me relying on the on the world of the unseen." So
[28:45]Alm Hussein told them, "No." So you find that amongst the jin
[28:48]were people that were ready to fight for Imm Hussein.
[28:51]But they were not asked.
[28:53]It was not an obligation for them.
[28:55]It was only the obligation of human beings, Muslims back then to
[28:59]support the grandson of Saiam Muhammad.
[29:12]Now a question comes to mind and I kind of touched upon
[29:19]it.
[29:18]Can we see Jin or not?
[29:21]We said by nature jin are invisible to us human beings because
[29:29]they are from they are from the world of the unseen just
[29:33]like angels we cannot see angels and Allah says in the holy
[29:40]Quran the shan him and his tribe all the jin the shan
[29:51]can see you but you can't see the shaitan because he's invisible.
[29:56]So shaitan could be in here.
[29:58]There could be many gins in here.
[29:59]So they can see us not just the but all jin but
[30:05]we cannot see them.
[30:04]Immiam in one hadith he said that when Allah created the human
[30:12]being he placed a veil between humans and gins so that humans
[30:14]cannot see the gins.
[30:17]They live separately.
[30:17]Each one is tested by Allah, but they live independently.
[30:21]So we cannot see the jin.
[30:24]And this is why they're called jin.
[30:26]There's a hadith from im.
[30:27]He says that the reason why this creation is called jin because
[30:33]we can't see them.
[30:34]Because jin in the Arabic language stems from the word jah.
[30:38]And ja means to cover.
[30:41]That's why they call the crazy person what in Arabic?
[30:43]Majun also from the same word Jenna because it's believed that the
[30:51]the intellect or the brain of the majun someone who's lost their
[30:55]mind as if it's covered a fetus in its mother's stomach is
[31:02]called what?
[31:00]Janine also stems from the word because it's covered you can't see
[31:07]and so on and so forth.
[31:09]So jin basically means a hidden a covered species because we cannot
[31:14]see them.
[31:16]Now the a hadith tell us that Allah yes I saw many
[31:23]traditions that he would see he would speak to jin he would
[31:26]see them just like he would speak to angels of allahel right
[31:30]because he's a messenger of Allah so in the same way that
[31:32]he would speak to he would see other angels speak to them
[31:37]had that connection to so he would see some jin he would
[31:44]hear some jin they would come and ask him questions and he
[31:47]would answer them.
[31:49]And I seen similar hadiths from the imams of they had certain
[31:54]conversations and interactions with the jin.
[31:57]So this is something that we know for sure from the Quran
[32:03]from the traditions of but human beings normal human beings we're not
[32:09]talking about the imams and the andasool can we see gins in
[32:16]general brothers and sisters?
[32:16]No, we cannot see gins.
[32:20]Why?
[32:18]Because Allah has placed a veil between our eyes and them.
[32:25]They are from.
[32:25]So if someone claims that they are seeing gins or if someone
[32:32]claims that we can see that this person is this is a
[32:37]jin 99.9% the person is lying or this person has lost it.
[32:40]Now it's not impossible to see a jin.
[32:43]It's it's possible to see a jin.
[32:45]It's just Allah hasn't given us that access.
[32:49]Just like angels.
[32:50]We believe in angels.
[32:51]But if someone tells you, "I saw an angel." What are you
[32:54]going to tell them?
[32:54]You probably saw something else.
[32:56]You're just either imagining or you were probably tired.
[33:01]You're daydreaming, right?
[33:02]Nobody can see angels in this dunya.
[33:05]In that same way, no one can see gins.
[33:07]But if Allah wants a human being to see a jin, is
[33:13]it possible?
[33:14]Yes, of course.
[33:13]If Allah wants someone to see a jin, he can remove that
[33:18]veil.
[33:18]But the problem is how do we know that this is true?
[33:23]If someone claims that.
[33:23]So maybe once in a millennium Allah may allow this miracle to
[33:27]happen.
[33:27]A human being sees an angel, a human being sees a jin.
[33:32]But this is very very very rare.
[33:35]It's basically a miracle.
[33:35]So anyone that claims I can see jin like we said 99.9999%
[33:42]this person is mistaken this person is either an impostor or they
[33:48]were just imagining they saw something else they thought they saw a
[33:55]jin.
[33:54]The other question is can jin control us human beings?
[34:03]Let's make this a little spookier.
[34:06]Can jin have authority over the human being such that they say
[34:15]in in they say meaning the jin can completely possess the human
[34:23]being and it would be the human being would be completely controlled
[34:27]by the jin.
[34:30]Is this something that's possible from an Islamic perspective?
[34:33]Go on social media, you will find hundreds if not thousands of
[34:38]videos of people who are acting strangely.
[34:41]They're shivering.
[34:42]They're shaking.
[34:43]They're acting like someone who's insane.
[34:45]They'll tell you a jin has entered their body.
[34:49]A jin has hijacked this human being.
[34:52]I personally, brothers and sisters, I remember once there was a sister,
[34:55]very good sister.
[34:58]She would even take some of our classes online, but not here
[35:01]virtually.
[35:02]She called me one day and she started to change her voice.
[35:07]A very scary voice.
[35:07]I don't want to scare you too much, but imagine a very
[35:12]scary voice.
[35:10]And she was telling me, "I'm a jin.
[35:13]I have control this and I want this and I want that."
[35:17]It's like, "Are you serious?" So I tried to reason with this
[35:23]jin, but unfortunately it was a very stubborn jin.
[35:26]Is this true?
[35:29]Can this really happen?
[35:29]Jen possessing human beings, having authority over human beings or jurins hurting
[35:36]us, you know, doing any type of damage to the human being.
[35:42]There are a couple of opinions between scholars.
[35:44]So listen carefully, please.
[35:46]The first opinion between scholars, and this is very controversial, but I'm
[35:50]trying to keep it a scholarly scholarly discussion, not what people say,
[35:54]speculation and gossip.
[35:56]The first opinion between scholars is that no, this is not possible.
[36:02]This is nonsense.
[36:03]Allah has not given the jin the power to control human beings.
[36:10]Allah has not given in the same way that Allah hasn't given
[36:14]us the power to control jin.
[36:16]He has not given the jin the power to control us.
[36:21]He's not given the jin authority over the human being.
[36:22]Any of that stuff you see or hear, it's not true.
[36:26]It's not the jin.
[36:29]It's something else.
[36:29]It's either that person has some mental issues, that person could be
[36:34]crazy, that person could be acting.
[36:36]Whatever it is, it is not the jin because the jin doesn't
[36:40]have such power.
[36:41]Why?
[36:43]They'll quote two verses in the Quran.
[36:47]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells the shan after he made his threats
[36:52]that I will go after all human beings and misguide them.
[36:55]Allah told him oh Sultan means authority know oh el that myad
[37:08]meaning the human beings you have not been given authority over them
[37:13]so you cannot control human beings no one can say oh my
[37:21]hands I can't control them it's thean noah told the I will
[37:24]not give you this power over the human being.
[37:26]But then Allah says then why is it that we see some
[37:35]people they are they are agents of the shaitan obviously they follow
[37:38]the commands of thean shaitan tells them do this they do that
[37:41]right I have no doubt that netanyahu is an agent of shaitan
[37:48]100% I have no doubts that many politicians are agents of the
[37:52]shaitan I have no doubt that many people I know I've seen
[37:55]throughout my life that these people are agents of thean does that
[38:02]mean the shaitan controls them no Allah says yes there will be
[38:08]certain people who are misguided but it's not because you have authority
[38:12]over them they willfully willfully follow the shaitan it's because they have
[38:21]weak willpower it's because they've been fooled it's because they've been misled
[38:27]and misguided.
[38:26]So it's not because they're forced.
[38:29]No one is forced.
[38:33]Everyone who disbelieves or commits an act of of disobedience or crime,
[38:37]it's due to their own willpower.
[38:40]This is one verse they say.
[38:43]See, Allah says in the holy Quran, the shaitan who's a jin,
[38:45]he doesn't have authority.
[38:46]So no jin would have authority over the human being to come
[38:50]and control them and go inside their body and speak in their
[38:52]name.
[38:53]This is nonsense.
[38:56]Another verse Allah subhanana wa ta'ala Allah quotes the shaitan on the
[39:00]day of judgment when Allah holds us accountable he'll show us our
[39:03]deeds our sins every bad thing that we did what will we
[39:07]do we'll point at the shaitan it's his fault ya Allah he
[39:09]made me do it he told me to do it the shaitan
[39:12]is clever he makes you he tells you to do something and
[39:16]then what he leaves you alone he doesn't he doesn't defend you
[39:19]he's not there to protect you the the Quran says the shan
[39:25]will defend himself when everybody's pointing their fingers at them.
[39:28]It's thean's fault.
[39:28]It's that jin's fault.
[39:31]What is what will he say?
[39:34]Allah never gave me authority.
[39:39]I didn't control you.
[39:40]The only thing I did is I encouraged you to do bad.
[39:46]I asked you to do bad and you guys obeyed me.
[39:51]So it was due to your own free will that you followed
[39:57]me.
[39:55]If I tell someone go and steal and then they steal, they
[39:59]can't blame me for it.
[40:00]I can be blamed for it, but that will not exonerate them.
[40:03]Why did you listen to me?
[40:05]The shaitan says all I did was what?
[40:09]Whispered.
[40:08]I told you.
[40:10]Why did you do it?
[40:14]You had willpower.
[40:13]You had free will.
[40:16]So it all comes back to my free will.
[40:20]The shaitan or any jin can never take control of my free
[40:22]will.
[40:23]So the only power the jin has or the is the power
[40:30]to whisper but nothing beyond that.
[40:32]So all these stories that you hear of people being controlled by
[40:36]jin or jin who are trying to kill a human being or
[40:40]they're trying to ruin their marriage or they're trying to ruin their
[40:43]career.
[40:44]All of this is nonsense.
[40:44]The only power Allah has given the is what?
[40:49]Whispering.
[40:50]Nothing more than that.
[40:53]This is one opinion.
[40:55]There's another opinion of some who say no it's much more serious
[41:03]than that.
[41:02]I would uh advise not viewer what would we say here?
[41:09]Listener discretion here.
[41:10]They say certain that the jin are capable of harming the human
[41:23]being and Allah may doesn't mean every single jin and for every
[41:26]human being but this is possible.
[41:28]Don't deny it right away.
[41:32]Yes, most of those videos are probably not true, but the essence
[41:37]is true that jin could control the human being and they can
[41:43]hurt human beings.
[41:46]What's their proof to that?
[41:50]They will also refer to some verses in the Quran.
[41:51]For example, in Bakar verse 275, Allah subhana wa ta'ala says this,
[42:00]listen carefully.
[42:03]Allah speaks about interest.
[42:07]Those that charge interest.
[42:08]Interest in Islam.
[42:10]You can't lend someone money and tell him you give me interest.
[42:14]Haram.
[42:15]Those that charge interest usery.
[42:28]They will not rise.
[42:30]And Allah is speaking about the day of judgment.
[42:34]How will they be resurrected?
[42:35]Those people that charged interest in this dunya.
[42:37]Allah will resurrect them like the one who is struck down.
[42:43]Someone who's confused.
[42:43]Someone who's intoxicated.
[42:45]They don't know what they're doing.
[42:46]Someone who's crazy.
[42:48]And then Allah compares them to someone else.
[42:59]Allah says they will be like those who are struck down by
[43:05]the touch of the shaitan.
[43:08]Those that charge interest, they will be like those that are touched
[43:14]by the shaitan.
[43:16]Allah says they'll be knocked down, crazy.
[43:19]They don't they don't know what they're doing.
[43:22]They're confused.
[43:24]So they say based on this verse, the touch of the shan
[43:27]can make you crazy, can make you lose your mind.
[43:32]It can knock you down.
[43:34]The touch of thean means the power of the shaitan.
[43:38]So don't underestimate jin and their power.
[43:42]It's not just whispers.
[43:42]He can knock you down and make you go insane.
[43:46]This is a verse in the Quran.
[43:49]And the one who charges interest will be like the person who's
[43:52]been controlled by the shaitan.
[43:54]So this is one verse in the Quran.
[44:00]And then there are certain hadith.
[44:01]One hadith from the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
[44:06]This hadith by the way is found in the book of al
[44:09]kafi and it is authentic.
[44:12]I looked at the chain.
[44:14]Every single narrator is reliable, trustworthy.
[44:16]The hadith is narrated by the fifth imm.
[44:20]He tells us a story that happened during the time of Allah.
[44:25]He says that Allah went on a military expedition.
[44:30]Are you paying attention, brothers and sisters?
[44:34]Pay attention to the story.
[44:35]It's very interesting.
[44:38]He went on a military expedition with some of his companions.
[44:42]They reached a valley called the Imam calls it according to this
[44:51]hadith Wadi Maj.
[44:52]The valley of Maj.
[44:55]It's kind of like crazy craziness madness.
[45:00]Once they reached that valley, it seems like that valley was a
[45:07]cursed valley.
[45:06]The hadith doesn't give us context why, what, you know, how it
[45:12]became cursed.
[45:13]It just says they reached that valley.
[45:15]Once they reached that valley, the prophet told his companions, "Let every
[45:21]man take the hand of another companion and enter this valley.
[45:27]No one should enter alone." So hold hands, go in groups of
[45:32]two and pass this valley.
[45:35]No one should enter alone.
[45:40]So the companions they all grouped two two and they started passing.
[45:44]Nothing happened to them except one.
[45:46]This is Al Bakr saying.
[45:49]He says one of them they found that he didn't for some
[45:55]reason he didn't go with a companion.
[45:59]He went by himself.
[46:00]They found him knocked out and collapsed on the ground in that
[46:04]valley.
[46:06]So Bakr says they went and they told Allah, "This man defied
[46:10]your order and he paid for it.
[46:12]Right now he's on the floor.
[46:13]He's not waking up." The hadith says Allah went to that man
[46:17]and he was on the ground.
[46:21]The prophet held his nose.
[46:25]Why his nose?
[46:25]I don't know.
[46:28]He held his nose and he started to press it and the
[46:34]prophet started to speak to this man and he said I'll read
[46:40]it in Arabi he said in the name of Allah or basically
[46:56]Oh evil one, I am the messenger of Allah, get out.
[47:03]The imam then says the man then rose and he was cured.
[47:11]So this hadith indicates that a jin had possessed him in that
[47:17]valley and the prophet had to hold his nose and order in
[47:24]the name of Allah that this jin leave this man alone only
[47:29]then he was back to his senses.
[47:32]Please brothers and sisters don't try this at home.
[47:33]Don't grab anybody's nose and tell the jin to come out please.
[47:40]So this is a hadith from Allah it's so why should we
[47:46]deny that it's impossible why should we deny the possibility of it
[47:49]this is one hadith and then there's another hadith this hadith you
[47:55]can find it in the book of al keshi one of the
[47:57]old he narrates it from a companion by the name of Abu
[48:06]Sabahani Abu Sabahani speaks about one of the companions of al zin
[48:11]imul son of Im Hussein.
[48:16]That companion's name is Abu Khalab.
[48:17]He was a very good companion.
[48:20]He would serve the Imam for many years.
[48:22]One day he goes to the Imam.
[48:26]He tells him, I want to go back to my wherever his
[48:27]town was and I want to go and you know spend time
[48:31]with my family, my parents and whatnot.
[48:33]The Imam tells him, "Before you go, I want you to wait
[48:40]because something will happen tomorrow." And the man needed some money.
[48:44]The Imam said, "Tomorrow there's an opportunity for you to make money."
[48:48]He said, "What?" He said, "A man will come from Syria, very
[48:50]wealthy man.
[48:51]He will bring his daughter.
[48:52]His daughter is possessed.
[48:55]He will tell everyone that my daughter is possessed and she will
[49:00]be acting very strangely." and he will tell people I will pay
[49:03]anything to the person who can cure my daughter and I will
[49:10]teach you how to cure her.
[49:11]The next day, Abu Khaled Kabuli says, "I waited.
[49:15]I saw indeed there's this man.
[49:17]He comes with an entourage and he's trying to find someone to
[49:22]cure his daughter who he says she's possessed.
[49:23]There's something wrong with her.
[49:27]She's no longer acting normally." And no one could treat her.
[49:30]So I went to him.
[49:31]I told him, "I can treat your daughter, but you have to
[49:35]give me money.
[49:35]You have to give me a certain amount of money." That the
[49:38]imam had told him.
[49:40]He said, "Okay.
[49:41]The man said, "Fine." So Abu Khaled went to the Imam.
[49:45]He said, "Okay, this man accepted.
[49:46]He's going to come to me.
[49:48]But what do I do?
[49:48]How the heck am I going to cure his daughter?
[49:50]I don't know what to do." The Imam told him that once
[49:56]he brings his daughter, go to her left ear, and say these
[50:01]words, "Oh evil one, Hussein, Hussein orders you to leave this girl
[50:13]alone and never come back.
[50:18]Abu Khal says as soon as I did that the girl woke
[50:23]up.
[50:24]She went back to her senses.
[50:25]Nothing wrong with that.
[50:28]Nothing wrong with her.
[50:29]So he asked for the money.
[50:33]The father said I'm not giving you the money.
[50:36]And he left.
[50:35]He went back to im.
[50:39]He's complaining haram.
[50:38]man he you know he stole my hak the IM told him
[50:43]don't worry because he didn't pay you the jin's going to go
[50:46]back to that girl so maybe a couple of days or weeks
[50:50]later this man comes back to to Abu Khaled once again our
[50:52]daughter is possessed she's not acting normally please help us so once
[50:56]again he speaks in her ear and he tells her the same
[51:01]thing Hussein order or orders you to leave oh evil one to
[51:07]leave this girl alone and never come back to her again and
[51:09]if you return he added these words I will burn you with
[51:13]the fire of Allah that reaches the hearts he made that threat
[51:16]to that jin the hadith says the jin completely departed and the
[51:19]girl was cured this time they had to pay him the money
[51:23]he said pay it first then I'll give it so this is
[51:28]the second hadith we have that there was a case in which
[51:30]the jin they possessed a human being and through the help of
[51:35]the person was cured So these are the two main opinions.
[51:41]So there is a third opinion that kind of tries to reconcile
[51:45]between these two.
[51:45]There are some who say if you leave the jin alone, they
[51:51]will never come after you.
[51:54]The only reason there are some stories of some people being harmed
[51:57]or possessed by jin because they did something to ask for it.
[52:00]What is it?
[52:02]We don't know.
[52:04]They tried to mess with some jin and they got what they
[52:07]deserve.
[52:07]Or they will tell you there are certain acts that the imams
[52:11]have explicitly told us not to do.
[52:16]If you do them, the imams have told us the shan can
[52:18]hurt you if you do that.
[52:22]So the shan naturally has no power over you unless you give
[52:26]him access to yourself by doing these things.
[52:29]For example, that same hadith of the prophet.
[52:32]Remember we said the prophet the valley before he says that story
[52:40]he begins the hadith in this way.
[52:42]He says there are a few things that you should never do.
[52:46]He's giving a general and our give a fatwa based on this.
[52:50]So some of it might beam some of it might be and
[52:54]the imam explains why.
[52:55]Number one, he says, "Never relieve yourself on a grave." And he,
[53:00]you know, use the bathroom over a grave.
[53:03]Right now, it seems strange, but 1400 years ago when people would
[53:08]just go anywhere, sometimes they would do it on a grave.
[53:11]So, the imam says, "Never do this." This is number one.
[53:18]Never urinate while standing.
[53:19]So, the first one, alhamdulillah, we're civilized.
[53:25]Nobody goes and defecates, right?
[53:27]Deficates on uh on a grave.
[53:29]But the second one, unfortunately, this is part of the culture here
[53:34]in the west for men.
[53:36]The imam says never urinate while standing.
[53:40]And he explains why.
[53:43]But the brothers listen because we know we're guilty of that.
[53:47]Never stay alone in a house.
[53:51]There's nobody but you.
[53:52]Remember these aren't haram but they're makru.
[53:55]Maybe the first one might be haram going and and you know
[53:58]placing your nasa on a grave but the other two makru.
[54:02]Never sleep in the state of janab.
[54:05]If you're in the state of janaba that spiritual impurity never sleep.
[54:09]Do your then sleep.
[54:12]Someone says what happens if I do that?
[54:16]Listen to what I imam says.
[54:17]The imam says [snorts] if someone does one of these things, anyone
[54:27]does one of these things, the shan may be able to afflict
[54:35]you.
[54:36]And if he afflicts you, he will not leave you unless Allah
[54:41]wills.
[54:40]And then the imam says [clears throat] for the shan most quickly
[54:47]approaches a person.
[54:46]He has access to you when he is in one of those
[54:53]states.
[54:52]This is a way in which the shaitan can infiltrate.
[54:55]He can exploit you.
[54:58]When one does one of these things, sleeps in the state of
[55:01]janaba, urinates while they're standing or stays in a house all alone
[55:05]by themsel or goes to the restroom over the grave.
[55:12]The imam says if you do that then you are inviting trouble
[55:15]to yourself because this gives shan access to you.
[55:19]After the Imam mentioned this, then he mentioned the story of the
[55:24]companions trying to show them that the shaitan can sometimes harm you
[55:28]and even possess you.
[55:30]So these the third opinion they say naturally thean Allah has not
[55:34]given him power but there are certain things that you do you're
[55:37]not supposed to do that may allow the shan to have control
[55:42]over you.
[55:43]It may not be full control.
[55:44]It could be small control.
[55:45]But at the end of the day, it's your fault because you're
[55:48]the one who gave him.
[55:49]It's like you give the keys to a car to someone say,
[55:52]"Well, he's driving, not me." Who gave him the keys?
[55:53]You did.
[55:55]So when I do these certain things and the shan may have
[55:59]that power over me, then it's my fault.
[56:01]Now these are just some examples.
[56:05]There may be more.
[56:05]But the point is it's possible only if you do something wrong.
[56:09]But naturally speaking, Allah has not given the shaitan control over the
[56:16]human being unless he grants that control to the we're almost done.
[56:23]Brothers and sisters, just two more things.
[56:25]Having said that, I want to reiterate that the majority if not
[56:32]all the stories that we hear are are not true.
[56:36]These are very very very very rare incidents.
[56:39]If even those that believe it's possible, this is very rare where
[56:43]a shaitan can come and mess your life.
[56:45]A shaitan can come and possess you and ruin your marriage and
[56:48]your children's lives and your career and your school and whatever.
[56:51]Most of the stories you hear, brothers and sisters, this is not
[56:57]true.
[56:55]It stems from ignorance.
[56:58]when we don't understand why things are happening in some way.
[57:02]I get sometimes some mothers they come to me, oh my son,
[57:06]he's I don't know why he's failing in school.
[57:09]I don't know why his grades are so bad.
[57:11]Then she thinks it's either a jin or it's black magic.
[57:12]She doesn't know that he doesn't study.
[57:14]She thinks he's studying in his room while he's what he's partying
[57:20]with his friends because she lives unfortunately in in that ignorance.
[57:25]She doesn't know.
[57:25]She starts to look for these supernatural answers.
[57:30]Oh, your son doesn't study your he fails.
[57:35]Right?
[57:36]Or sometimes I get some um you know a couple a man
[57:40]comes you know everything was going good with this girl and all
[57:42]of a sudden she left me she doesn't answer my my calls
[57:46]or the opposite a girl says that about a guy.
[57:48]So say can you can you see what's going on?
[57:50]Do you have any dua?
[57:53]Maybe it's black magic.
[57:55]Maybe there's a jin who's preventing this.
[57:57]So I'll tell him first, let me see the other person.
[57:59]So I invite the guy.
[58:02]I come and I, you know, try to see what's going on.
[58:06]And the person gives me a very reasonable answer why he never
[58:10]called that person.
[58:10]It has nothing to do with jin and supernatural.
[58:12]I understand why.
[58:15]Say it.
[58:14]She just annoyed me.
[58:16]Halas, I just want to run away from her.
[58:19]There's no jin.
[58:18]There's no black magic.
[58:21]Or it's the girl.
[58:21]the girl for example her parents told you her you can never
[58:26]talk to this guy anymore anytime we don't understand something we try
[58:29]to look for these weird answers well most of the times it's
[58:35]our fault and we don't want to take the blame we don't
[58:37]know what we're doing wrong it's jin it's black magic it's the
[58:42]evil eye so these stories are very very rare if you do
[58:46]believe in them like I said some don't believe them finally I'll
[58:51]end with this point How can we protect ourself from the evil
[58:55]jin from the shaitan?
[58:56]If I'm afraid of jin, maybe there's a one out of a
[59:00]million chance that they can negatively influence us.
[59:04]Number one, brothers and sisters, of he says the imam says that
[59:16]wear the yami for it keeps the away from you.
[59:24]It keeps the evil jin away from you.
[59:26]It gives you protection.
[59:27]What is most scholars believe it's a type of it's, you know,
[59:31]that stone that we wear.
[59:32]I'm wearing the right now.
[59:35]It's the red one, but it's the darker one.
[59:37]If if someone knows about the rocks and the stones, they'll know
[59:41]which type is the yami.
[59:42]Im Ali says that one of the benefits of wearing that for
[59:47]men and women, it gives you protection.
[59:50]It's the darker brownish one.
[59:51]This is one thing.
[59:51]Number two, you'd be surprised.
[59:57]Having pigeons in your house protects you from jin.
[59:59]This is not superstitious belief.
[60:02]He says any house that has doves, that has pigeons.
[60:12]The people of that house will be protected from jin.
[60:15]So number two is what?
[60:17]Pigeons.
[60:18]And finally, number three, the imams.
[60:20]There's a lot but this is the last one.
[60:23]I'll end my lecture.
[60:27]The imams tell us read verse 83 of chapter 3 verse 83.
[60:43]taught this to a companion by the name of told him teach
[60:51]me a dua in case you know I am in danger from
[60:56]jin or anything like that what do I do the imam told
[61:02]him read this verse Iran verse 83 says that I was traveling
[61:12]one day all alone in a desert by myself.
[61:15]He said, "All of the sudden I heard a call." I said,
[61:19]"Was he imagining?" I don't know.
[61:20]This is how he reported it.
[61:25]He says, "I heard a call.
[61:26]Someone crying.
[61:25]Take him." Can you imagine?
[61:29]You're in the middle of the desert.
[61:31]Nobody there.
[61:30]There's no TVs back then, no internet, nothing.
[61:33]Like it's a someone actually saying this.
[61:36]You just hear a cry.
[61:39]Take him.
[61:37]you drop dead because of how afraid afraid you would be.
[61:42]So he says I heard that I got really afraid.
[61:46]He says quickly I remembered the of I recited Iran verse 83.
[61:51]He said as soon as I recited that I heard someone else
[61:54]I'm just hearing voices because you can't see the jin.
[61:59]He says I started hearing someone else reply to that first one
[62:02]who said take him.
[62:04]What did he say?
[62:04]How can we take him when he has recited this verse?
[62:07]He has protection and he says I made it out of that
[62:13]safe.
[62:13]May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala protect you all brothers and sisters from
[62:17]all the from the evil of all the jin and the evil
[62:23]of all ins.
[62:22]What I can tell you for sure is that the majority of
[62:26]harm and injustice and damage and destruction that's being done in this
[62:32]world is by human beings.
[62:35]It's not my gins.
[62:35]So instead of focusing too much on gins, we have to focus
[62:39]on the human species and trying to get them to improve, trying
[62:41]to get them to be more just and closer to Allah subhanahu
[62:49]wa ta'ala.
[62:46]You have a question, sister.
[62:51]Yes.
[62:52]And these two chapters are good for protection from everything not just
[63:00]jin jin evil eye black magic or if you just fear someone
[63:03]you fear a disease whatever any type of fear then reciting and
[63:07]is good for all types of fear and it gives you all
[63:13]forms of protection.
[63:15]May Allah bless you everyone.
