[0:01]and it's not easy to represent when fear enters the heart and

[0:06]your principle is called out and you so i'll give you a

[0:11]quick example i was driving i'm going to a job interview i

[0:39]left a half hour early because i wanted to get there early

[0:45]what do i want to do why am i getting there early

[0:50]what is it good impression my reputation is at stake i have

[0:56]to time manage correct so now what happens i'm driving i pull

[1:03]up to this light and it starts to rain really heavy and

[1:08]all of a sudden the cars are not moving anymore i look

[1:18]up this old lady comes out of the car she can hardly

[1:24]walk she comes out of the car she tries to open the

[1:27]other lady's door the door the car that's next to them she

[1:30]tries to open the door it wouldn't unlock the traffic starts to

[1:36]move she's still in front of me now i'm waiting and i'm

[1:38]looking where i'm looking at what what am i looking at the

[1:44]time and now i'm getting a little upset i'm getting frustrated what

[1:52]happens when something is blocking what we're trying to get us well

[1:57]i'm trying to get somewhere and we get a block what happens

[1:59]when we get blocked by something in life it automatically creates frustration

[2:04]there's a one-to-one ratio actually in psychological studies that's shown that every

[2:10]time there's an obstacle in front of you there's an there's a

[2:13]certain threshold that you reach a frustration so now i'm getting frustrated

[2:19]but i see this woman and she's wearing what what do you

[2:24]think she's wearing what do you think she's wearing she's wearing the

[2:30]hijab what do you think i got from her right away she's

[2:36]older she's wearing the hijab beautiful she's already talking to me she

[2:43]by not saying one word she hasn't said one thing she's already

[2:48]communicating through her dressed language she's already telling me something i'm in

[2:56]need right away she's in need but she's wearing something that's so

[3:02]beautiful that it's just an article of clothing it's just a sheet

[3:06]let's say but it communicates so much it represents a religion it's

[3:14]a flag of a religion so when we understand that the just

[3:20]an article of clothing that the prophet when he was asked to

[3:26]let go of his message he said if they were put the

[3:30]sun in my right hand and the moon in my left hand

[3:33]that i will not renounce my my message to that extent your

[3:42]hijab represents the sun and the moon do we understand that kind

[3:49]of weight of representation now what happens when representation has conflicting messages

[3:55]through our behavior against our dress language and i'm not just talking

[4:01]to the sisters it's very easy to talk because it's it's it's

[4:06]there the hijab is there you have to wear it for a

[4:10]guy he can lighten up his beard he doesn't have to really

[4:12]he can mold in fit in i'm italian you know what i

[4:17]mean i'll just look like this you know he can play a

[4:18]million different role he can mold in it's much harder for the

[4:23]sisters but some of us know we have the beard it's this

[4:27]out we don't care we're representing at the highest level it doesn't

[4:42]speaking i'm telling you i used to be terrified i couldn't speak

[4:45]in front of people but watch me now because i love my

[4:54]religion it's my representation it's i'm not representing it it's representing me

[4:59]and when you download it into your heart and you connect your

[5:04]emotions to it watch the dignity that you have and when you

[5:08]go against your own temptations what happens to you as a person

[5:11]what happens to your own heart when it starts to speak in

[5:16]a representation of islam the allah azzawajal when he says in the

[5:19]quran bismillah when allah has expanded his chest to islam what he

[5:34]has what do you gain when you represent with the hijab of

[5:40]your beard and you represent when you lower your gaze when you're

[5:42]looking at another woman or when you put on the hijab and

[5:47]you stand and you say i represent what does allah say what

[5:50]do you gain allah says you get enlightenment in your heart something

[5:55]in your heart opens when you download that what is it what

[5:58]happens there what happens when your heart opens like that now you

[6:05]become a beacon your heart is connected to the right things your

[6:10]iman is in your heart now we said what happens when you

[6:17]have conflicting messages when we are saying when we when we're let's

[6:24]see our dress language is saying one thing but our verbal language

[6:27]is saying something else but our behavior is saying one thing then

[6:32]our dress language is saying some i'll give you an example really

[6:38]quickly we're communicating and now let's say i get married hopefully if

[6:46]you're not married hopefully you get married let's say you are married

[6:51]your wife comes up to you and she says to you or

[6:56]you you'll come up to your wife and you're like i'll talk

[7:00]to the guys you come up to your wife and you tell

[7:04]her honey what's wrong adam how are you she goes like this

[7:13]guys pay attention learn okay take these lessons and take some notes

[7:18]because when you face this hopefully you'll get something and then you'll

[7:25]this will help you inshallah in the future so now she does

[7:30]this you sell it honey what's wrong she's like nothing guys how

[7:38]do you interpret that wait a minute wait how many of you

[8:55]inflections of the voice matter so you're paying attention to that so

[8:59]what's coming out through that though what is it emotions all right

[9:06]beautiful so brother you said what behavior correct yeah body language so

[9:13]behavior you said emotions correct and the person is talking with what

[9:16]the verbal and then we said something earlier with dress correct because

[9:21]the lady walked out of the car and her dress language is

[9:26]already communicating with me and i'm going to finish the story i

[9:28]just bring it back to it so now there's four languages of

[9:33]communication four languages verbal behavioral emotional and dress verbal behavioral emotional and

[9:43]dress can these things contradict at the same time can i send

[9:48]mixed messages on different channels that contradict each other in the same

[9:52]statement can i do that can i do that yes you can

[10:00]now watch this let's take the expression again when she says nothing

[10:07]the behavior what's the behavior telling you nothing when it's connected to

[10:15]the voice and the way the voice is coming out what are

[10:19]you picking up on the emotion is this person upset or not

[10:23]are they upset they're definitely upset so now you're picking up an

[10:31]emotional language and brother what's your name my brother muhammad ali has

[10:35]picked up on the emotion that there's she's definitely feeling something wrong

[11:43]do that is constitutes that constitutes the hijab attitude what else what

[12:44]and there was a person who was praying in indecent clothes and

[12:50]i mean very indecent now was her dress language okay during prayer

[13:00]no now the act she's actually performing which is prayer is contradicting

[13:07]her dress language correct see how we can send mixed messages consistently

[13:14]now if you send mixed messages consistently do people have a problem

[13:21]with that do people have a problem with that do they know

[13:28]what you really represent they don't so what happens if you're posting

[13:37]on social media contradictory information of what you represent when you come

[13:47]up here and you say i'm a muslim and i stand and

[13:52]i represent but then i'm on the phone and there's this girl

[13:57]i like and i had one of the brothers he's very young

[14:01]and he's talking to this girl and he comes up and we're

[14:05]sitting on a plane and we're sitting right there and he's sitting

[14:09]between me and this other person and he's talking to this girl

[14:16]he's texting away i said brother i said why don't you not

[14:21]me i said the other brother talked to him and he said

[14:24]why don't you talk to her dad he's young he's a teenager

[14:34]the brother's like what are you what her dad what are you

[14:39]talking about islam says you need to talk to who what does

[14:48]islam say you want to talk to a girl guys pay attention

[14:50]you want to talk to a girl what's whose permission do you

[14:54]have to get the father he's her walil amir he's the her

[15:00]guardian now when let's say can i come let's say somebody's 15

[15:06]16 17 years of age can i come out and i don't

[15:10]know you and i come and i ask for adam i say

[16:14]and now the hesitation from the other side what what my dad

[16:18]what do you mean we have a long time we can talk

[16:24]what are you talking about see the representation am i representing the

[16:31]rules do i follow the rules that's representation that's reputation when the

[16:37]prophet stood on the mountain and he called out and he said

[16:40]if there was a caravan behind this mountain would you believe me

[16:46]why why would the prophet say this he's holding everyone in account

[16:50]and he's telling them would you believe me would you believe that

[16:54]i am a prophet would you believe that that kind of representation

[17:01]is not easy to say i'm a prophet of islam that the

[17:05]prophet got so close to allah that it says he was so

[17:11]close to allah he got so close to allah he was two

[17:13]bores links or closer this is the person who what leads us

[17:21]but we think we're safe because we're in that circle but do

[17:30]we represent what is truth that he says i'm a prophet and

[17:38]when he announces this they said we believe you because what you

[17:52]his reputation they call him out by his names of character this

[18:33]about your repetition you will be asked about it tomorrow raise your

[18:41]who wants to represent stand up stand up i don't want you

[18:47]to sit stand up say i believe in this religion and tomorrow

[18:49]i'm gonna stand up and i'm gonna be there i'm gonna do

[18:54]scared okay so some of us may be scared look how i

[19:06]on the day of judgement when you are going through this phase

[19:21]body when the soul reaches the throat and the angels on the

[19:27]other side start to say who's coming who's this person that's coming

[19:32]and this moment he says and now he knows or she knows

[19:41]it's time i'm leaving there's no going back but in that moment

[19:45]allah says in the quran he says he says and that in

[19:54]that moment allah he swears by the angels that pull out the

[19:57]soul violently then he swears by the angels that pull out the

[20:03]soul softly at this moment at this moment muhammad [Music] okay all

[20:32]right so this that's much better okay so now i want to

[20:37]give you three stages really quickly of faith and you put you

[20:40]and you put yourself it's not going to be good enough okay

[20:44]and you put yourself on these stages you talk to your heart

[20:46]right now if you can represent at this level you will you

[20:52]have it okay there's three stages i'm gonna give you and you

[20:56]talk to your own heart because at the day when the day

[20:59]comes and you are challenged your belief system is going to come

[21:03]out you know when you know you believe something can anybody tell

[21:07]me when you truly believe something how do you know how do

[21:12]you test yourself right now i tested you and some of you

[21:14]stood up and you're like you know what yeah we're going to

[21:17]do it whatever the challenge is we saw him we're going to

[21:19]do it i don't care what you ask i'm here and i'm

[21:23]standing and i'm a soldier a lot of guys want to be

[21:27]soldiers right we want to be that hero then we want to

[21:28]lead leaders right all that is in your heart you want to

[21:32]be like you wanna how many of you watch the movie gladiator

[21:34]how many okay that's literally a representation like if you haven't watched

[21:38]that movie watch it it's beautiful but at the end of the

[21:44]day that representation is so important so now when you are called

[21:51]out and now your faith is tested what's the what's the biggest

[21:58]thing you can give what is the most important thing you have

[22:03]in this world what's the best thing that you own what what

[22:12]is it your life your soul your life did imam hussain give

[22:16]up his life for the religion so your cause is greater value

[22:22]has greater value than your own self when you have that connected

[22:27]to your heart is it easy to sacrifice if you truly have

[22:31]faith in your heart if you truly and you see your whole

[22:35]family get slaughtered and imam hussain stands on the land of karbala

[22:38]and he says he says i'm whatever has become of me i'm

[22:48]okay with it my heart is content and whatever your will is

[22:54]i submit to after the exam not before the exam after the

[23:01]exam when you get tested like that it's incredible what happens when

[23:04]you get called out and now your principle is called out the

[23:10]challenge will meet your principle and your representation is at stake and

[23:16]watch there's a lot of people let's say you get caught cheating

[23:21]on exam and then the teacher calls you out in front of

[23:27]everyone is that easy why does it feel shameful why why should

[23:37]you care or you hear someone talking about you i was sitting

[23:44]one of my mentors was sitting in a restaurant and in the

[23:50]next table he overheard people talking about him and putting him down

[23:58]the person that was sitting with him wanted to get up and

[24:03]talk to the people he's like no let them go it's okay

[24:08]it doesn't bother me it's okay it's not easy to hear bad

[24:14]things about you it's not and it can really mess with you

[24:17]but at the end of the day when you have that kind

[24:23]of strength to say it's okay yeah allah help these people help

[24:28]this person i don't know what's in their heart you do i

[24:31]don't know so now our faith will be tested the challenge will

[24:37]come and you will be tested and on the day of judgment

[24:42]you have to hold up your side of the story so now

[24:44]take these three grades for me i was tested here and i

[24:53]failed many situations many exams but this one i can carry with

[24:59]me say allah look i have something it's a small little piece

[25:01]but i have something okay i don't have much more than this

[25:05]but i have this okay so now i failed in many situations

[25:11]trust me i've made many mistakes but this thing i don't know

[25:15]why i did it but i did it so i stopped for

[25:19]a second and the lady she comes i i literally decide i

[25:24]put the car in park and i get out of the car

[25:26]i it's raining and my hair is done i'm wearing my suit

[25:30]i don't want to be wet you know what am i starting

[25:34]to do right here what's the what's happening here i'm beginning to

[25:38]sacrifice it's the beginning of sacrifice i am going to help i'm

[25:43]trying to see the situation i'm putting now my time in jeopardy

[25:50]i'm putting my hopefully my future job in jeopardy i'm putting things

[25:54]in jeopardy so now i walk up and she literally lowers the

[25:58]window on the passenger side and she was terrified she was crying

[26:05]hysterically and i looked in her eyes and i can i can

[26:09]picture her face like right now as i'm telling you this i

[27:15]maybe meant to be i'm going to get this job call us

[27:16]you know allah is opening up things for me then she says

[27:20]to me she goes me please help me oh my gosh you

[27:30]know i love you you know he's like see my heart is

[27:33]it's talking to me i'm afraid there's loss i may lose something

[27:37]but where's the sacrifice where's the sacrifice and i don't know i

[27:42]swear to you i don't know why this happened i don't know

[27:45]why i did what i did i don't know i can't tell

[27:48]you i'm i'm somebody special i don't know i don't know why

[27:52]i made these decisions but something in my heart told me okay

[27:55]just help just help i said what do you need and she

[28:04]goes to me she goes i'm lost i don't know where i'm

[28:07]at i was going to pick up my husband and i don't

[28:09]know where i'm at i said where do you live she goes

[28:13]i said what's the street name she goes it starts with the

[28:26]me now because i'm lost i don't know what to do so

[28:29]i'm sitting there and i'm like okay so now i literally said

[28:34]to myself i said ya allah whatever happens happens call us i

[28:36]let go at that moment i swear to you i felt relief

[28:41]and this is when i began to understand that the the thought

[28:45]of dropping the outcome when you drop the outcome you drop the

[28:48]fear you put your responsibility in the hands of allah azzawajal and

[28:53]you let go of what you're trying you just let go so

[28:58]when i did that i literally told her i said you know

[29:01]what get behind me get in your car and now i'm driving

[29:06]around and looking for streets that start with what the letter p

[29:09]okay and i'm sitting there and i'm like subhan allah okay look

[29:15]at what i'm doing now yeah yeah you see this you gotta

[29:17]make this one down because i'm you know you have to you

[29:21]have to see see my heart so now i look behind me

[29:27]and she's moving to turtle like turtle is like too fast okay

[29:32]she's moving like it's it's like i'm like i'm thinking in my

[29:38]head like okay you know what it's fine it's fine but i

[29:41]get so far ahead and i just stop and when i stop

[29:47]what happens i wait for her to come up and when i

[29:56]wait for her to come up she gets out of the car

[30:00]and she goes to me that's my house i literally stopped right

[30:06]in front of her house now imagine what i would have missed

[30:14]if i would have just drove off imagine that what would have

[30:20]i missed if i would have just went to my interview and

[30:22]by the way i got i got to my destination [Music] allah

[30:27]gives you these things and it's incredible but when your faith is

[30:32]tested when you're representing and your faith is tested and you begin

[30:35]to talk about other people behind their back and you don't have

[30:38]the courage to stand up and say go you want to talk

[30:42]about someone go to their face if you have the courage to

[30:43]go to them go to their face and tell them listen you

[30:47]did this and you did that and you did this other things

[30:49]and you did that go to their face and talk to them

[30:53]directly if you have the guts if you have the courage walk

[30:56]up to them don't be afraid where's your strength where is your

[31:03]iman don't backbite don't do namima don't don't do these things we

[31:07]represent as a community as a community we need to stand don't

[31:10]talk about each other don't do that be kind to each other

[31:16]if someone says something wrong about the next person stop them don't

[31:19]allow it to happen these are the bigger sins allah talks about

[31:33]these things so now test your level of imam where are you

[31:38]i'm going to go through these three things and we'll end and

[31:43]we'll open it up to discussion the first level of iman you

[32:05]have three levels the first level is in the quran it says

[32:23]who believe what is belief what is belief in the shia ashari

[32:32]stands of belief is a person who is a muwali what is

[32:33]a muali as a person who believes in imam ali's that is

[32:38]the consideration so if you stand on that then you shouldn't talk

[32:41]about people you shouldn't do that you shouldn't bring up people in

[32:46]ill ways you shouldn't do that these are some of the things

[32:48]that we shouldn't do there's many other things that are known as

[32:51]the cabaret so now what happens the first level of iman is

[32:58]this surely allah is enjoined on you to be put your face

[33:12]towards him now on that level he says then he's created you

[33:17]in a certain way he's fashioned you who will love you he's

[33:23]fashioned you in the womb of your mother as he wills he

[33:29]fashions you the first level of the iman is called emanuel emanuel

[33:35]is the stage where it's just it's a little spark in your

[33:40]heart how does that work it's innate every one of us has

[33:45]the stamp of allah his logo allah's logo allah's thumb print is

[33:49]in your heart you cannot remove it the love of beauty how

[33:56]many of us go to the beach or go to have a

[34:00]million dollar home and what lakefront why because we enjoy beauty we

[34:06]love beauty this is in your heart hope the love of perfection

[34:10]if i give you a and i give you b and i

[34:12]tell you a is better than b any sane human being will

[34:17]pick a the love of perfection to do good even an atheist

[34:25]will tell you i'm doing good i'm representing doing good so even

[34:31]an atheist is worshiping allah an indirect way so this is the

[34:38]the level here this is how we need to understand that level

[34:41]he says in terms of allah says when allah fashions he's fashioned

[34:53]the soul then he's given it inspiration there's an inspiration factor when

[34:58]you get inspired right now let's say we talked a little bit

[35:01]about hijab brothers here in terms of this you get inspired tomorrow

[35:04]we're all gonna post about hijab correct is that what we're gonna

[35:12]do we're gonna listen everyone i'm a muslim i represent this is

[35:16]my reputation i stand up here and i represent this religion and

[35:19]i'm telling you i'm not gonna move and i'm gonna tell you

[35:24]i wear this hijab proudly is everybody gonna post like that tomorrow

[35:28]are you that inspired you maybe maybe but how long does it

[35:36]last this is where you just it may last a couple hours

[35:40]a couple weeks but slowly you lose it but let's say something

[35:46]sparks in your heart and you really connect it and you connect

[35:49]to the religion the religion connects to your heart and tomorrow you

[35:54]do actually post and you come up here and you say you

[35:58]know what next year i'm going to go to hajj then you

[36:00]say i'm gonna go do ziyarah and the heart is connected the

[36:05]thought is connected now is this true does the heart connect to

[36:09]the to the concept yes yes because allah even in the quran

[36:16]you may love something but it's not good for you or you

[36:21]may hate something and it's not good for you so the hearts

[36:24]connected to the wrong concept i drink concept i enjoy it i

[36:29]backbite i talk about another person and i actually enjoy it your

[36:34]dopaminergic system actually enjoys it you enjoy the reba you enjoy talking

[36:40]bad about someone or bringing someone up in in a conversation and

[36:43]you do namima i i tell this person about this other person

[36:46]in the wrong way and i do that i'm not afraid to

[36:51]do that and i actually enjoy it and i think i'm warning

[36:55]people is that truth can you stand can you go up to

[36:59]that person and talk to them tell them in their face do

[37:01]you have that kind of courage that's when your iman is getting

[37:08]tested your faith is getting tested the second stage if you convert

[37:11]to the second stage and you ascend you hit the second stage

[38:13]connect when the tree goes through photosynthesis and what does it do

[38:17]it produces oxygen and now you can breathe that system is too

[38:22]great it's impossible for something not to create it i begin to

[38:27]reflect so your iman ascends to another level and now it's coming

[38:33]into you further and then you're not scared anymore and you will

[38:39]come up to that brother and you tell them like you know

[38:42]what brother i love you may i tell you something i think

[38:48]you're making a mistake here's something i've heard you have the courage

[38:56]to do it properly and now if you do that you can

[39:03]hit the third stage of iman and now your heart is connected

[40:57]when the fear comes and the quran says on that day when

[41:06]you are challenged when the muslims were challenged with battle they had

[41:10]to go into battle and now in the quran it says what

[41:14]the hearts you're so scared that the heart feels like it's in

[41:21]your throat when the fear enters the heart and now you begin

[41:27]to doubt about allah it's easy to say i represent when there's

[41:33]no challenge it's easy to say that it's very easy but what

[41:40]happens when you are truly challenged and you're scared does your principle

[41:47]overtake the fear does it can it is your heart strong enough

[41:54]is your belief in your own principles stronger than the challenge and

[41:58]will the challenge submit to you or were your principal submit to
