[3:30]to put our hearts in a state of tranquility i'd like to

[3:35]invite sister zainab abdullahi to recite the translation muhammad muhammad in the

[4:00]name of god most gracious most merciful when the sun with its

[4:05]spacious light is folded up when the stars fall losing their luster

[4:08]when the mountains vanish like a mirage when the she camels ten

[4:13]months with the young are left unintended when the wild beasts are

[4:18]herded together in unhuman habitations when the oceans boil over with a

[4:25]swell when the souls are sorted out being joined like would like

[4:29]when the female infant buried alive is questioned for what crime was

[4:34]she killed when the scrolls are laid open when the world on

[4:38]high is unveiled when the blazing fire is kindled in the fearsome

[4:43]heat when the garden is brought near then shall each soul know

[4:54]dissipates and the dawn as it breathes away the darkness verily this

[7:30]be reciting today is called it is written from my point of

[7:34]view it is me speaking to the zawar of the blessed imam

[7:38]those who are walking towards imam hussain in iraq today oh he

[7:53]whose feet will walk towards heaven as all of humanity flock take

[7:59]my heart with you to accompany imam al-mahdi during this walk o

[8:15]you have been chosen so fall in prostration and thank allah for

[8:20]this sign and keep your eyes open as around you the angels

[8:33]lord they send grace for how great is the blessing of walking

[8:36]to his presence and then his shrine you embrace don't listen to

[8:41]the ones who question and accuse you of visiting he who died

[8:52]salvation lies in the tears i cried for all those that question

[11:07]embarked upon this path and on that day she is your intercessor

[11:11]from the lord's wrath continue your journey continue your journey as your

[11:18]destination isn't too far ahead you are nearing the land of martyrs

[16:15]called netsite corporation which specializes in e-commerce and e-business hasanan is also

[16:20]the director of camp taha the world's first muslim owned camp located

[16:25]in colombia ville michigan he is currently the founder and director of

[16:29]wise academy in deborah heights it's a private college and prep school

[16:33]so we are blessed to have him joining us with us and

[16:37]with that being said let us please welcome our dear brother with

[17:28]it so muhammad all praise belongs to allah and i begin in

[18:35]his blessed name for granting us this life and giving us the

[18:39]opportunity to exist and he has perfected us in our existence in

[18:43]the sense that he has given us maximum potentials as human beings

[18:48]and when we say perfected we sometimes wonder how can that be

[18:53]when we have so many imperfections well that is the system of

[18:59]perfection for the very essence of uh having imperfection with the potential

[19:04]to eliminate the imperfection this system in holistic sense is perfect and

[19:09]allah has placed us on this earth for a short period of

[19:14]time as we know even if we lived on this earth for

[19:18]ten thousand years it's relatively short compared to the infinite time that

[19:20]awaits us and given the fact that we are very intelligent beings

[19:26]allah has shaped us in a beautiful fashion allah has made mankind

[19:35]in the best of forms allah says whatever allah creates is good

[19:43]he makes everything good our existence is good even that which we

[19:47]don't like is essentially good it's a philosophical conversation and i hope

[19:53]someday we will be able to grasp the holistic nature of god's

[19:58]infinite goodness in what he creates lest we become atheists and become

[20:04]very very despondent and unhappy with the the reality of the universe

[20:11]the ones we think that are not good allah has blessed us

[20:16]in this world has kept us on this earth for a short

[20:19]period of time and we wonder why did allah not put us

[20:21]in paradise directly and save us the trouble of going through this

[20:25]heartache and the trials and the tribulations with which we have to

[20:30]live under and potentially of course lose the potential of lose the

[20:36]entrance into paradise for hell is certainly a reality and as i

[20:41]mentioned yesterday hell is a reality the good news is that it's

[20:46]not easy to get into hell you might say no brother we've

[20:50]always been told it's very easy to enter hell it's very difficult

[20:52]to enter paradise and we've been told that a minority of people

[20:57]will enter paradise and the majority will go to hell well let's

[21:00]examine the rahm of allah on a holistic scale if one were

[21:05]to really say that then one would say that allah is really

[21:07]not merciful for allah because he created a system where the majority

[21:11]is always going to hell and the overwhelming wisdom would tell you

[21:17]then that such a creation should never have been put into existence

[21:22]to begin with and allah is merciful and allah is most wise

[21:26]and he is most just allah allah is the wisest of the

[21:34]wise then why put this system together so on a cursory level

[21:39]of discussion tonight especially tonight as you know is the night in

[21:42]the commemoration of as you know is the 40 days after the

[21:47]momentous event of the massacre of imam hasan alayhi salaam and his

[21:53]family and the companions on the battlefield of karbala 14 centuries ago

[21:59]roughly 14 centuries ago actually 61 years after hizrah and why do

[22:06]we commemorate this 40 days why do we even commemorate on the

[22:09]ashura night why do we need to what's the essential nature of

[22:16]that do we need to shed tears is it essential uh is

[22:18]this just a ritual that we have sort of concocted within our

[22:23]own systems to keep us busy with some kind of transaction like

[22:26]going to the entertainment industry and just entertaining ourselves is this entertainment

[22:31]these are important points we need to discuss and question because ultimately

[22:37]you will see that this transient world where we live in a

[22:42]short period of time there is room for entertainment there is room

[22:46]for slipping and going away from allah but holistically we have to

[22:52]be very vigilant and careful for this life has a fundamental principle

[22:57]with which for us to succeed and to achieve the highest stations

[23:01]possible now if you have a doubts about that let me explain

[23:05]when our children are born parents keep them very much in check

[23:10]and by the time they're five years of age they're putting them

[23:14]in school why not when they're seven it says no five they

[23:17]need to start school at five in fact earlier than five maybe

[23:21]four maybe even three why why not wait no because time is

[23:26]against this child and this child better graduate by the time they're

[23:31]17 18 because they have to hunt to the university why why

[23:34]not wait when they're 30 no time is against them they need

[23:39]to have an economy they need to settle down because by the

[23:42]time they reach 30 they're starting to settle down with children and

[23:46]now they're becoming parents and they are setting their own future so

[23:50]that by the time their 40s and in their 50s they have

[23:54]realized the true value of life and then you start talking about

[23:56]your impending death although death does not discriminate as you know allah

[24:02]takes children even away from their mother's wombs but in a general

[24:07]sense we know that time has a factor and therefore we realize

[24:11]that if we do not catch the moment we may lose the

[24:15]opportunity we all agree with that even in the workforce you'll notice

[24:19]that older people who are in their 50s and 60s have a

[24:23]harder time getting hired unless they're highly experienced corporations consider them more

[24:29]of a liability because they will retire soon and they demand higher

[24:33]salaries because of their experiences and they feel that younger blood is

[24:37]cheaper and more malleable and more adaptable so notice time is against

[24:43]us even on the economic scale and when we have our nest

[24:48]eggs even when you take insurance the older you get the higher

[24:50]the premium because actuarial science says that well there's a higher chance

[24:54]you will die so everything is very clearly shown to us that

[24:57]if we take a scale that in in the western world today

[25:01]the average lifespan is 75 to 80 years of age which is

[25:04]great in rome the average life was 35.

[25:07]so it's good even 75 80 90 000 years there is a

[25:16]scale and then within the scale we better fulfill the objectives otherwise

[25:20]we're going to lose so when i'm saying that why these rituals

[25:25]why these prayers why do we come and do these programs you

[25:29]know we have to understand the gravity of what awaits us in

[25:35]the next world what i mentioned before just now is all about

[25:38]securing ourselves in this world education money security children right these are

[25:45]all material things and they're all part of dean they're all part

[25:48]of the foundation of the hereafter remember there's no separation of the

[25:52]dunya things that we do the worldly things that we do you

[25:56]cannot separate them from the hereafter effects and everything we do in

[26:02]this world is within the prescription of allah there is no such

[26:06]thing as you know religious and non-religious everything is within the prescriptions

[26:10]of hamsa wajib and mubarak so with everything there is nothing you

[26:19]and i can do and allah has established this and allah wants

[26:23]us to recognize that we placed you on this earth for strategic

[26:27]reason so within this scope of time these conversations and why are

[26:33]we commemorating karbala why are we talking about imam hussain it's all

[26:35]built on a grand scale of things that while i'm busy pursuing

[26:39]my education the human race will tell you that even if i

[26:42]achieve all educations and i achieve all degrees which we should ultimately

[26:48]what really the bottom line that counts is my spiritual harmony my

[26:54]spiritual success my vision for the long term where am i going

[26:59]with all this okay i've achieved an empire i've become a billionaire

[27:03]where do i go from here even michael phelps think about it

[27:09]my brothers and sisters michael phelps four years ago when he achieved

[27:15]all those medals was at the peak of his life and to

[27:20]be a swimmer of that caliber is not easy i swim it's

[27:23]very difficult to swim that fast very difficult you have to be

[27:27]intensely good in it so he was very regimented very structured very

[27:33]visionary and he achieved incredible amount of medals this is not a

[27:39]common feat this is an extraordinary person who has the capacity to

[27:45]get what he wants even he before the rio olympics lost vision

[27:54]became an alcoholic went into drugs was arrested for drinking under the

[27:59]influence i mean driving under the influence right so if you understand

[28:05]this you say why does a how does a person of this

[28:07]caliber who's capable of achieving such high uh successes in the world

[28:16]where wealth power and success is global for him which is extraordinary

[28:18]given the seven and a half billion people how does a person

[28:23]like him lose vision he had no long-term vision when he achieved

[28:26]his goals he said what do i do with the what do

[28:30]i do now i don't know what else is there in life

[28:32]so i got my medals all these women want me i'm rich

[28:35]i can buy anything i want what do i do now these

[28:40]conversations in these gatherings is precisely to attack this piece of the

[28:44]equation that's missing and many of us have forgotten thinking that if

[28:48]i achieve my medals and if i become rich and i've built

[28:51]my palace that's all i want to do now examine and you

[28:55]will see that those who have achieved it ask them are you

[29:01]happy do you feel satisfied that you have under your belt all

[29:05]this wealth go ask people like warren buffett are you happy no

[29:09]happiness is when we account for eternity when you and i have

[29:17]eternity under our belt you love this world god says now allah

[29:29]says the hereafter is better for you it's eternal it's got a

[29:36]vision that is so long-term it never ends think about that brothers

[29:41]and sisters if i told you that you and i will achieve

[29:42]great success for a billion years and then after that we will

[29:45]vanish and not exist it's torture you say but i've got 10

[29:48]billion years of pleasure yes but it's countdown it's 10 billion years

[29:56]less one day and it's countdown and the closer you get to

[30:01]the ending point the more you die and the pleasure becomes torture

[30:06]see the rahm of allah is entirely built on the eternity of

[30:11]existence [Music] is those who believe and do good for them they

[30:24]will have paradise they will live in it this is a a

[30:30]promise of god that is true god does not forgo his promise

[30:35]when he promises and it's rational you know what is the greatest

[30:39]fear of an atheist it's precisely this idea of ceasing to exist

[30:45]when you die then all this effort is absurd it's like saying

[30:51]you know study hard work very hard achieve high stations get your

[30:59]degree get your phd you know postgraduate do all kinds of post-doc

[31:05]and then when you've got it all go to the shredder and

[31:09]shred it what would you do would you ever go to school

[31:14]would you ever study it it's absurd if the end is precisely

[31:21]to destroy what i'm doing then why should i do anything alhamdulillah

[31:26]even for the atheists they realize that even on a temporal basis

[31:30]they need to be good for good comes back to you they

[31:34]say what goes around comes around and allah has built a check

[31:41]system that the human being functions optimally even if they reject allah

[31:45]at the humanist level that they are capable of committing some good

[31:49]because of their fear of the repercussions should they be bad though

[31:55]holistically it's bankrupt this notion of atheistic notion is bankrupt in my

[32:01]opinion clearly bankrupt the real ideology is that there is an eternity

[32:05]of vision and there's an eternity of intentions it's not some stupid

[32:08]system out there that people like dawkins talks about that suddenly things

[32:13]evolved into some stupid and intelligent systems no it's visionary our existence

[32:19]has been placed by divine ordinance it's the only logical answer and

[32:25]that our eternity is built in such with such details and clarity

[32:30]that every move we make has a reason that even philosophers will

[32:35]tell you that when you ask the question why there is always

[32:38]a because salah the reason i'm speaking this way is because when

[32:51]we lose faith in allah we see within our societies today breaking

[32:56]up kids indulging in alcohol and drinking i mean other you know

[33:03]heavy heavy drinks drugs marijuana is very common these days it's being

[33:07]legalized in america all over the place it's all because of money

[33:12]you know it's all about economics it's not about our future and

[33:14]our health trust me even the food triangle that's built the base

[33:21]is all about lobbyists who puts the most money in washington and

[33:24]the fda will approve you and give you power and in washington

[33:27]you look at our there is a level of sanity alhamdulillah that

[33:32]the fda has some level of sanity to control our health but

[33:37]holistically when you pay big money people look aside for example do

[33:41]you know that alcohol is legally a drug by any standards it's

[33:47]actually a drug but they do not classify it as a drug

[33:49]because it'll come under the fda control and the lobbyists made such

[33:55]efforts to ensure that alcohol always remains a side issue while the

[34:00]societies are being destroyed due to this consumption they have become the

[34:04]biggest financiers of all our programs so they've infiltrated our very systems

[34:08]in government in sports in everything they have a hand in it

[34:14]what ends up happening then is that our moral construction starts to

[34:19]fall apart because our zeal and our desire for wealth and power

[34:22]over arches our responsibility as moral human beings hence today when you

[34:32]see the presidency in the elections and all kinds of vulgar conversations

[34:37]take place philanderers adulterers so crassen gross xenophobes islamophobes you know bigotry

[34:50]outright bigotry the same bigotry of iblis that he lost his status

[34:54]because of his bigotry that bigotry is now coming in public and

[34:58]people are saying that's okay it's okay it's fine presidents are caught

[35:03]committing adultery in the oval office it's okay it's okay what has

[35:08]happened to our moral system what has happened to the future of

[35:12]our children that our children are being told to be modest and

[35:15]honest and upright when they're seeing the very system that's governing our

[35:18]entire world today doesn't have that foundation of good morals what are

[35:22]we going to do with our future brothers and sisters tell me

[35:24]and this is not a conversation about muslims and within islam or

[35:28]within the shia or the uh you know school of jaffari this

[35:32]is for humanity this conversation ask any human being ask any and

[35:37]christians and jews out there are moral people atheists out there moral

[35:42]people hindus are moral people they're not immoral the majority of the

[35:46]human race is moral but if the very foundation with which we

[35:49]live in is losing its foundations what do we do as a

[35:54]human race and how do we guarantee ourselves good exit from this

[35:59]world as moral upright standing human beings is it easy you walk

[36:04]today you drive in the highways and see how many billboards are

[36:07]alluding to sexual innuendos of half naked scanty dressed people that are

[36:12]trying to excite us to buy something through our passions it's very

[36:18]common marketing scheme should we allow that should we even accept that

[36:21]we say well you know it's freedom of expression no one has

[36:25]said freedom of expression is denied allah expresses in the quran the

[36:28]power of freedom of expression but there is a moral conscience with

[36:32]which we have to follow and there should be a red line

[36:36]where we draw to say no we don't accept this but even

[36:38]when we don't accept it we should not go killing people we

[36:40]should not go shooting people and beheading people because we don't accept

[36:43]it there has to be a dialogue of invitation and allah says

[36:55]invite people to the way of your lord with wisdom and kind

[37:00]exhortation and you sound argumentation not violence even muslim who disagreed with

[37:08]fraunh who was a wretched individual an individual who was a genocidal

[37:12]murderer who indiscriminately killed even infants yet musa was not allowed to

[37:22]slap him musa alayhi salaam was not allowed to harm him even

[37:45]mankind because there's a disagreement no no allah has made every one

[37:51]of us uniquely different there are no two people on earth who

[37:54]agree on everything even identical twins don't agree on everything there are

[38:00]no two human beings who agree on everything even a child born

[38:02]of its mother does not agree everything with its mother why because

[38:09]allah made us unique so difference of opinion is here to stay

[38:14]so that means we say we have to agree to disagree agreeably

[38:18]we have to come to equitable terms to say okay you have

[38:23]a different pathway no problem we're all going back to allah he

[38:28]will deal with us and manage our differences and i love that

[38:34]concept allah is maliki omid not you and i so when it

[38:39]comes to punitive measures where we pass judgments and destroy people and

[38:41]condemn people to hell it's not within the scope of islam it's

[38:46]not in the scope of islam it is for you and i

[38:50]to be vigilant to understand the purpose of this life and never

[38:54]to discount the eternity of our existence and never to say that

[38:58]i will not exist when i die or there's nothing after my

[39:00]death that's absurd and in fact if you and i even entertain

[39:06]such thoughts our moral fabric our drive our ambitions in this world

[39:09]will cease to have direction it could even be extremely dangerous for

[39:14]then we will say i'm at that moment of total annihilation so

[39:17]i might as well annihilate while i can get my hands on

[39:19]it and this is why people like you know pol pot you

[39:24]know and if you look at people like stalin hitler muawiyah yazid

[39:32]they did not believe in the hereafter they used to say there

[39:36]is no hereafter it doesn't exist and allah mentions that in the

[39:42]quran when the angels are asking them in syria they will be

[40:01]asked before they are flung in hell did they want to come

[40:04]to you the angels are concerned how did you reach here how

[40:08]did you get to hell god is too merciful he put a

[40:14]prophet in you you know the prophet said there are two messengers

[40:17]the inner and the outer the inner is your soul the conscience

[40:21]and the outer are the prophets in the quran and the imams

[40:28]angels are surprised how did you get here it's not easy to

[40:32]get to hell didn't a warner come to you and allah mentions

[40:39]in the quran we never punish a community until we warn it

[40:45]first allah is so direct and careful in this matter allah says

[40:57]allah never sends messengers except by the language of its people so

[41:03]that they are explained with clarity so prophets don't come with foreign

[41:08]language or foreign ideologies or foreign understandings or they don't understand the

[41:13]lingo or the culture and the expressions of this community and then

[41:17]they're going to come and tell people about god allah says i

[41:20]don't do that i send messengers with clear wa i am a

[41:29]clear warner so the angels are asking didn't warner's come to you

[41:35]says hallu bala nay they did but when they came we belied

[41:39]them we called them liars we said there is no revelation you

[41:44]see we belied them and we called them liars you are lost

[41:52]in great utter loss these are the enemies the umayyads for example

[41:57]in the modern day people today who are enemies of allah will

[42:00]say the same thing there's no revelation this quran is just a

[42:02]concoction there's no revelation there was there's no god there's no revelation

[43:25]the message of these nights of arabin when we remember imams in

[43:38]cyclical it's become like a little drug that we need to have

[43:55]in the commemorations are all part of zikr we reveal to you

[44:02]the thicker what is zikr remembrance why is remembrance important why these

[44:07]gatherings are important i'll explain briefly as i mentioned yesterday human nature

[44:16]is that within us we all are conscientious beings and there's something

[44:22]innate in us about our morals often when we don't discuss the

[44:27]impetus of life as to why we exist and we become very

[44:31]um surviving you know day-to-day happy-go-lucky kind of people we forget the

[44:37]long-term mission of why we're here we become survivors we start cheating

[44:43]we start grabbing on it's like that rough sea i don't care

[44:47]about where i'm going to end up on the land i just

[44:49]need to find me something now before i drown that attitude no

[44:55]long-term vision what happens is we start losing focus when we lose

[45:01]focus you find pandemonium starts to take over chaos anarchy people become

[45:05]rough if you look at what happened in katrina's time when the

[45:09]flood came in there was so much chaos police were shooting people

[45:14]people were shooting the police people were robbing killing taking everything because

[45:18]it was pandemonium it was survive like in a war you see

[45:23]people some some of our members in our community have lived in

[45:25]civil wars in the countries they've come from until today if you

[45:29]listen if you watch them you'll see they're always looking over their

[45:33]shoulders because the impact of a civil war is so deadly that

[45:37]you cannot trust anybody and you cannot let go of that pain

[45:42]that you felt the precarious moment right we become survivors and what

[45:48]happens then is we lose focus and the minute we lose focus

[45:53]what happens is we become day-to-day machiavellian creatures if i can get

[45:58]it now i can cheat you i can rob you now that's

[46:02]what counts i don't care when i die tomorrow we'll worry about

[46:04]tomorrow tomorrow because as far as i'm concerned i'm in survival mode

[46:07]this behavior is dangerous the real person on earth in our opinion

[46:13]who we we should look at as leaders as ones which we

[46:18]should honor the ones who we should emulate the ones we should

[46:23]hope to be like and our children to be like are the

[46:25]ones where there's trials and tribulations they're in survival mode they're being

[46:30]annihilated they don't lose hope in the eternity of their existence brothers

[46:36]and sisters study religions there are many five six major ones in

[46:44]the world nobody has the kind of moral lessons you and i

[46:46]have in these lessons of karbala and albeit in the prophets nobody

[46:53]when allah says you will have trials and tribulations in this world

[47:17]promise allah says this world is precarious you can build palaces you

[47:21]can stash your money away somebody's going to come and grab it

[47:25]and your children may be taken as hostages or a little creature

[47:31]will land into your body and cause havoc in you and cause

[47:34]you to be diseased or you will inherit something that will cause

[47:39]you to all the time be unwell health family problems you want

[47:48]a family wants b there's chaos you can't stabilize it's a world

[47:54]it's very very difficult in this world for you and i to

[47:58]reach harmony and stability it's just by the law of god's system

[48:03]and allah has created this strategically for one reason and one reason

[48:09]alone so that you and i understand that nothing is important but

[48:14]the eternal one when i accomplish my wealth and my successes and

[48:19]i have all my stability allah says that is not stability that's

[48:23]finite it will crumble and your wealth will be distributed after you

[48:31]die your children will leave you your wives and your spouses your

[48:36]husbands and wives may go and remarry after you're gone it's not

[48:39]permanent you may not be together in the next world inshallah spouses

[48:44]will be together if they're really good spiritually like the prophet in

[48:48]khadija but the point is in general it's temporal allah says examine

[48:53]in this world that while you're busy surviving who gives you stability

[48:58]the human being says i want stability the conscious says how what

[49:03]kind of stability the finite kind that's for billion years or the

[49:06]infinite one that never ends and the conscious says of course the

[49:09]infinite one even fairy tailors will tell you the prince and the

[49:13]princess lived happily ever after they didn't grow old and scoliosis and

[49:19]dying their teeth fell off it's bad for fantasy isn't it we

[49:26]want it forever do they grow old no young as ever forever

[49:35]subhanallah allah says who has that you your money your family your

[49:41]wealth and your family are a trial on you they're a blessing

[49:44]but they're a trial examine catch on to it understand it now

[49:49]when you have that vision of eternity and you know that my

[49:53]god created me i didn't exist before he shaped me but i

[49:56]had nothing to do with it and he so mercifully put me

[50:01]in a universe that's designed to sustain my life and to make

[50:04]me happy such that i think the earth is flat when it's

[50:08]not it's a sphere but god is so merciful that he stabilized

[50:11]it he the earth is moving at a rapid speed around the

[50:15]sun in it i don't feel it god says that's what i've

[50:17]done for you you think i'm going to leave you alone after

[50:19]you die you think i'm going to scramble you in the middle

[50:24]of the desert after you die i made you this way to

[50:28]enjoy this world when you didn't deserve it what do you think

[50:31]i'm going to do when you die allah says you have no

[50:34]idea how merciful i am and what awaits you there is so

[50:40]great that be patient in this life but your vision should be

[50:41]long term and i've given you examples of people whose families have

[50:46]been annihilated on battlefields and they never turned away from allah imam

[50:52]was saying takes this little child abdullah known as comes to the

[50:58]army and says to the army okay you don't like me you

[51:04]have a grudge against my father you have jealousy you don't like

[51:14]me what has this child done to you and you have denied

[51:17]it water i'm not asking for anything but this six-month-old infant has

[51:24]done no harm to you no human being in their moral conscience

[51:28]can deny that truth that a child of any culture any religion

[51:32]any background is innocent so imam is now trying to invoke the

[51:37]hearts of this hard-hearted people who have the audacity to hold daggers

[51:41]and spears and swords against the representative of god who in my

[51:46]opinion was the prophet's replica on the battlefield the prophet says so

[51:58]the prophet said he is me hussain ibn ali is me imam

[52:06]is saying okay if you have even forgotten who your prophet is

[52:11]if you've even forgotten the prescriptions of god if you've even forgotten

[52:17]your responsibilities to dare claim to be muslims when you have cornered

[52:21]me to kill me and allah is showing this to me as

[52:23]an example said look don't you think this one should be the

[52:27]most honored don't you think this one should be the most protected

[52:29]don't you think this one should be in the highest palaces don't

[52:32]you think this one should be with carpets flying in the air

[52:37]yet he's in the desert cornered his women are in the tents

[52:43]fire is surrounding the tents that as soon as salam's life is

[52:48]taken they're going to attack the tent and they're going to burn

[52:51]it and they're going to get the women out of there and

[52:53]they're going to grab them and drag them city to city like

[52:58]slaves you think that's a thought you and i can ever foster

[53:00]in our heads if you and i knew that that's the mission

[53:06]of my life that my children my family is going to be

[53:08]dragged city to city to be humiliated maybe even be headed and

[53:14]killed could you and i accept such a promise with allah probably

[53:17]not but allah said look at my representative and then when he's

[53:23]taking this child and when he's talking to them sincerely i tell

[53:29]you even a non-muslim hard-hearted individual even within islam hard-hearted individuals when

[53:36]they hear the story of an infant being brought forth as a

[53:40]plead that give this child the water it deserves and instead of

[53:49]it being given water it's responded with an arrow in its neck

[53:54]and they say when the arrow pierced the neck of abdullah and

[54:01]it went into the arm of the blessed imam and it pinched

[54:05]it and it was bleeding all of us those of us who

[54:10]have children you know when there's a scratch on our child our

[54:12]heart starts to palpitate this is an arrow in the neck of

[54:17]an infant that penetrates the infant's neck into his arm and it's

[54:22]bleeding i want you to take a picture of that for a

[54:26]split moment and examine the vision of life through that moment that

[54:29]if i i was ever put in that kind of a scenario

[54:41]in control you could have stopped it why did you allow this

[54:48]arrow to penetrate this infant beautiful child whose who's in who is

[54:52]pure what does the imam do he looks up he says we

[55:00]are satisfied by this decree and we submit by your authority my

[55:06]lord that level is impossible if you don't have infinity in your

[55:11]mind that level of thought is impossible if the vision of why

[55:18]this world exists in its true essence if you don't have it

[56:39]it's all about power i want the world to recognize how great

[56:42]i am put my name up there this trump look how he

[56:49]pontificates like he's a god i'm the best and look at the

[56:54]society how stupid they are yes mr trump yes your honor you

[57:02]find educated people from harvard and yale bowing down like lap dogs

[57:06]is this life is this impressive i don't think so i think

[57:13]it's absurdly stupid you find our religion if this religion cannot stand

[57:27]upright that's the objective of humanity not because somebody's powerful he's got

[57:29]his name on buildings and he's a billionaire oh we bow down

[57:33]to you this is our attitude somebody comes in with a fancy

[57:35]car everybody looks at them that's an important person what if the

[57:40]12th imam was among us here and he comes in rags we

[58:35]was allah in the quran says says men who don't bargain for

[58:55]any price men who's allah is talking about in allah houses which

[59:10]god has exalted and his name is remembered through those houses allah

[59:14]is talking about albeit prophets that their names are thicker then how

[59:26]did zakaria pray how did yahya pray how did maryam pray how

[59:33]did ibrahim do it how did musa do it god he said

[59:37]why am i telling you this zikr remind you we're reminding you

[59:40]of the moral objectives and if you ever have a problem with

[59:45]it go listen to them that these were the greatest human beings

[59:47]on earth what was their motive what was their modus operandi what

[59:51]did they do did they submit and give up to the wealth

[59:55]and the power that we became slaves and then tomorrow you have

[59:58]people like hitler who are so eloquent in speech that the germans

[60:01]completely voted him in power and the next thing there was chaos

[60:06]and destruction all around the world and then we all sat around

[60:09]60 million people dead and said oh it was so bad allah

[60:13]says allah doesn't change the affairs of a community until the community

[60:23]changes themselves first allah has given me free will and says to

[60:25]me i put you on this earth and it's a rough sea

[60:28]you pray to me but when you pray don't expect a transaction

[60:32]that the minute you pray i'm gonna jump and bring you down

[60:35]an angel to save you no but allah isn't that what prayer

[60:40]is for allah says no prayer is to remind you of your

[60:45]moral conscience don't transact with allah don't say oh allah i went

[60:49]to hajj i pray i give charity so now you give me

[60:53]something allah says no i already started it and you can never

[60:57]pay me back i created you when you were nothing and there

[61:01]is nothing in your prayers nor in your fasting nor in your

[61:06]charity that i have to give anything back to you don't transact

[61:08]with allah allah says allah says i'll give you as and when

[61:14]i will i am merciful but i may leave you thirsty hungry

[61:16]to die and i'm going to ask you do you love me

[61:20]or don't you when you ever say no love we don't love

[61:25]you because you're rich you're powerful you better give me what i

[61:29]want this is the difference we commemorate these events to learn a

[61:33]lesson that while we have our problems in life don't lose faith

[61:38]in god and don't submit to people of power who don't have

[61:43]good morals submit to high moral standing people people who don't lie

[61:50]people who don't cheat people who have a vision people who are

[61:53]consistently trying to promote good follow those kinds of people and don't

[61:56]be sold for a cheap price when we do they will come

[62:01]and kill us it's exactly what happened with the banumaya people submitted

[62:05]to muawiyah look at the treachery that took place people submitted to

[62:09]the banu abbasid look at the hell that took place it continued

[62:12]with the uthmania you find even today people are trying to claim

[62:15]to be khalifas of our time today look what they're doing they're

[62:20]butchering beheading people educated in western worlds are getting on planes and

[62:23]dressing up in ornaments in army clothes and going to decapitate and

[62:28]kill people this to me is amazing i said how can educated

[62:32]people do that it shows when there's lack of vision for akhirah

[62:39]to meet allah the one who says i want to meet my

[62:43]lord and the problem is we forgot who allah is allah is

[62:48]the absolute good when you and i have a desire to meet

[62:52]him it means you and i will be good on this earth

[62:53]we won't cheat we won't lie we won't backbite we won't fault

[62:59]fine we will not be dishonest and we will not be arrogant

[63:00]and show off and we will not be self-centered aggrandizing people we

[63:06]become humble this is why salah is there we put our hands

[63:09]up and say allahu akbar this moment is taken for granted we

[63:13]just raise our hands allah says you forgot be humble please don't

[63:17]you see iblis worshiped me for thousands of years he lost his

[63:23]humbleness when he became so powerful in his status and i destroyed

[63:27]him because he was arrogant you think you will be different on

[63:29]judgement day imam hussain was not arrogant humble but firm firm right

[63:39]muhammad rasool allah against this belief firm in what way beheading shooting

[63:54]no firm in the sense that we do not bargain immorality for

[64:03]any price people say listen i give you money be promote some

[64:07]immorality promote some alcohol cheat lie sell some drugs on the streets

[64:13]destroy the community we do not promote that secret agency comes a

[64:19]spy for us so that we can come and destroy members of

[64:23]your community you do not bargain for that price says i'm sorry

[64:38]says men who do not bargain for any price but the quran

[64:42]continues to say they maintain prayer and they maintain charity here prayer

[64:51]is not only the five daily prayers prayer also is speaking the

[64:57]truth not lying being honest being modest being giving being forgiving loving

[65:02]caring sharing all these characteristics are within the principles of salah we

[65:05]think that the minute i pray then i'm done no prayer was

[65:10]the reenactment you you actually vowed to do what you will do

[65:14]after you finish prayer prayer is a vow on what you will

[65:20]do when you're done or we forget that part we say i

[65:22]prayed now let me go back to my satanic ways no you

[65:25]just said you will do it and actually as great scholars have

[65:30]said prayer begins when it ends so we have an obligation my

[65:34]brothers and sisters to see that in this night of the knights

[65:40]of ashura let's not take this religion cyclical say why am i

[66:31]lies all the time hates to be lied to because if you

[66:35]lied all the time you should love to be lied to but

[66:39]you back bite it's an evil act because the backbiter doesn't like

[66:44]to be back bit the arrogant doesn't like another arrogant it's interesting

[66:50]right do you notice that allah has built a fixed system of

[66:53]truth where if you want to know where truth lies see the

[66:55]ugliness of it through the everyone who practices it they hate it

[66:58]when it's done to them when you hit someone you cause pain

[67:01]the person who hit hates to be hit so allah says stop

[67:06]stop doing that the only time you're allowed to hit is when

[67:11]somebody hits you and you cannot stop them then strike for a

[67:14]strike otherwise it's forbidden in islam so we humans lie and this

[67:19]lying leads at all levels if you find apathy in religion it's

[67:22]because politicians people society lies when we lie we destroyed the moral

[67:32]fabric so duke university did a research and they wanted to figure

[67:35]out why humans lie so they did a research at the university

[67:39]they brought group of students and told them to take an exam

[67:41]and they told them for ten questions for every right question will

[67:44]give you a dollar so the students came in took the exam

[67:49]and they were told you will grade yourself so they took the

[67:56]exam they graded themselves then they come to the front and there's

[67:59]a shredder you take the exam and you shred it then you

[68:02]go to the desk and say i got five answers right so

[68:05]give me five dollars interesting right they found out that the students

[68:12]who did that almost everybody cheated but if they got four right

[68:18]they say they got five right or six right one or two

[68:24]more it's halal technically it's we can argue to god you know

[68:28]i mean i didn't understand it you know it's like you nudge

[68:31]the rules you know a little bit make it a little halal

[68:34]you know to the makru side you know from haram to my

[68:36]crew maybe we can deal with god right almost everybody what they

[68:42]forgot was that the shredder was rigged it was only shredding the

[68:48]edge of the exam so they took the exams out and noticed

[68:51]that everybody cheated everybody added one or two then they wanted to

[68:57]add more value to that so they brought a student was part

[69:02]of the team and the second exam came in and this student

[69:03]in last in about a minute or so it takes at least

[69:07]30 minutes to take the exam uh in a minute or so

[69:11]he stood up says i did it takes it shreds it goes

[69:13]his i got all right answers and you got ten dollars so

[69:17]the rest of the student says hey there's no way you can

[69:21]pass this exam this guy cheated 100 and look he went up

[69:25]there he collected the money he walked out and he got the

[69:30]ten dollars so it became halal so everybody did it everybody stood

[69:35]up yep ten ten they all collected ten dollars it's amazing when

[69:39]one person or a group of people committed sin how it legitimizes

[69:44]and probably becomes mustahab everybody in town is drinking everybody in town

[69:51]like the youth said everybody's smoking weed brother what are you talking

[69:55]about it's halal in fact he couldn't even maybe even watch him

[70:01]because everybody does it brother everybody i said does it make it

[70:05]right well brother you know i'm no longer sinful because it's the

[70:09]norm you know they all drink see that's the problem of the

[70:13]human social system when you and i are living in a society

[70:16]where evil becomes prevalent it becomes part of the status quo our

[70:20]sisters are removing hijab everybody is removing their hijab these days you

[70:23]know it's become very popular now it's chic be careful of these

[70:30]rules and regulations that you and i follow with others when i

[70:33]commit a crime i feel very lonely but the more i can

[70:38]get you to commit a crime the less lonely i feel and

[70:41]the more justified i feel if i'm caught it's not me it's

[70:46]all of us it's not that bad you see so what we

[70:49]call negative peer pressure why do friends ask friends to smoke why

[70:52]do friends ask friends to drink because they want to share the

[70:58]sin in fact when you drink alcohol and smoke you pay a

[71:02]sin tax it's amazing in america there's a tax it's called sin

[71:06]tax it's amazing even america which doesn't promote god necessarily knows that

[71:12]in its essence it's sinful so what they did was they gave

[71:17]this exam everybody cheated so they said okay how do we stop

[71:20]this we figured out something some movement here what happened is that

[71:28]they took did another exam but before they gave this other exam

[71:31]they told all the students to write the ten commandments so they

[71:37]told them tell us what the ten commandments are thou shalt not

[71:41]kill thou shalt not lie you know that shall not commit adultery

[71:44]most of them didn't know more than three or four you know

[71:46]thou shalt not chew gum whatever they didn't know didn't matter they

[71:51]and they were not all christians it was a mixture christians atheists

[71:55]muslims didn't matter ten commandments because everybody universally knows ten commandments came

[72:01]to moses whatever and it had a moral prescription had a moral

[72:08]prescription don't forget that piece so they took this then they took

[72:12]the exams i mean this ten commandment question told them all to

[72:16]go into a room and take the exam again you know the

[72:18]same one that they did this is a different group by the

[72:23]way and none of them cheated everybody telled exactly the right answers

[72:27]they got and they collected the money and they were stunned by

[72:32]this behavior that why nobody cheated what had happened was that before

[72:36]the exam the zika the conscience was ignited the inner conscious of

[72:43]morality was ignited temporarily and the minute you become ignited temporarily your

[72:48]chances of lying and cheating is reduced that's why in court it's

[72:54]very amazing that before you go up to the stand you put

[72:56]your right hand up and you put your hand on the bible

[72:58]it could even be a piece of wood i swear that i

[73:02]will speak nothing but the the minute you take an oath somehow

[73:07]your conscience is triggered and the minute is triggered it's harder for

[73:10]you to lie subhanallah now the quran is a zikr cover to

[73:17]cover it's a vicar to remind us is beneficial it's good for

[73:29]them we ask the question why is god repeating the quran which

[73:33]of my bounties really believe me for 33 times 31 times actually

[73:39]allah repeats it we say why is god repeating allah says i'm

[73:41]reminding you i'm reminding you we say why are you reminding me

[73:43]allah says your conscience if it's not reminded you will lose focus

[73:47]of your life you will become an ignorant arrogant human being even

[73:52]scientists in universities have recognized that the minute you remind people of

[73:56]consciousness good consciousness you just naturally commit less sins now when we

[74:01]remember a little bit when we pray when we fast when we

[74:05]go to hajj don't you think it's the highest form of living

[74:08]in the world for we are reminding our consciousness that we are

[74:11]not going to commit a sin sure we commit sins but we'll

[74:15]be committing much less and inshallah will eradicate it this is why

[74:18]this remembrance is so important brothers and sisters and when we go

[74:23]to karbala imam as he's going into the palace of yazid people

[74:27]are seeing them chained that while the imam is standing outside see

[74:33]imam going to karbala was a reminder his massacre is a reminder

[74:39]our remembrance of his massacre is a reminder our crying is a

[74:43]reminder our desire to be with the imam is a reminder our

[74:48]love for allah bates is a reminder brothers and sisters tell me

[74:54]on earth who has the best moral conscious reminding system on earth

[74:57]other than us i'll discuss it tomorrow further my time is up

[75:09]but let me explain just briefly as you know is in the
